The Legend of Hanuman (2021–…): Season 2, Episode 12 - Ocean Apart - full transcript

Hanuman is reunited with the Vaanaras and Shri Ram. As they march to wage war on Lanka an endless ocean creates a new challenge.

It was hard leaving Ayodhya,

but there was no other choice left.

That is how we came to this forest.
It was not welcoming.

But we were to live here
for 14 years.

We could make it our home.

With my brother and wife, I lived
in accordance with the rules of exile.

I often wondered
if Sita missed the palace.

But she always seemed so happy
here, in this forest.

And her headpiece
always reminded me

that she may not be in the palace

but there was always
a part of the palace with her.

Magnificent.

Marvellous.

They look strong.

They look ready, my King.

Ready to take on anything?

Even death, Hanuman!

Good morning, my friend.

It is a fine day.

They are ill-equipped.

Their weapons are little more
than sticks and...

Their hearts are steel.
Their determination, a thing forged of iron.

Their spirit as steadfast
as a mountain.

They will not falter,

no matter what tidal waves
of demons Ravan sends against them.

But all armies need an anchor.

An unbreakable will to build upon.

Where is Angad?

He is not here, my Prince.
I do not know if he wishes to fight.

Or at least fight for me.

Go speak with him, Prince Ram.

If you ask him to join us...

then he cannot refuse.

No, good King. I cannot.

You must speak to him.

Am I disturbing you, nephew?

I am at my King's command.

The army has gathered for Lanka.
It awaits only you.

If that is your command.

No, Angad, I do not command it.

This is a beautiful place
you have found.

One could stay here forever,

away from the dangers
and hardships of the world.

Who would not crave such peace?

I will stay here then,
if that is your wish.

My wish?

My wish is to have
the noble son of Vaali by my side.

Not just today, but always.

How could I command my own blood?

This love flows
from my very heart.

Incessant and
without... obligations.

Nal, at this rate,
the mace will end up carrying you.

I... can manage.

It's not heavy.
Just a little slippery.

How about a spear like this?

Does Hanuman have a spear?
Does the king? No.

Big heroes need big weapons.

Look. It's up. I can just...

Angad, you're back.

I'm back.

Get me a spear, brother.

I'm sorry I kept you waiting.

A shame you're here.

I guess I'll have to share the glory,
after all.

Let's march.

I can't see anything!

Where are the princes?
I want to see the princes!

My Lords?

Hanuman!

Would you like me to help you up?

I found them!
They were playing in the river!

They think they're off to a picnic,
not a battle!

At this pace, we'll be lucky to reach
the sea by the end of the year.

We do not have the luxury of time,
my King.

We shall march at dawn.

I'll whip them with a stick
if they lag!

Let a few of us go ahead,
good King.

The journey will be easier if we scout
and prepare for the main army.

How?
And who will take on this task?

Do you need to ask?

Then we shall be off at dawn!

Wait for us.

Of course.

I mean it, Hanuman.
I don't want to turn up and find out

the three of you have decided
to go conquer Lanka by yourselves.

There will be plenty of fighting
for us all, I promise.

Make sure there is.

We will be only a day behind you.

Come as swiftly as you can.

Ready?

Get up! Get up!

Is it time for breakfast, Mother?
I could do with a pancake right...

Ready, my Lords?

Ready.

I'm glad you're all up.

Now pack your things.
It's time to move.

We have a lot of forest
to get through.

Lanka is all the way over there.

It is, my Prince.

And you reached it
with a single leap?

I did.

Then what are we waiting for?
Pick up your bow, brother.

Hanuman can carry us
to the gates of Lanka,

and we can destroy Ravan

while he's still rubbing off sleep
from his eyes.

The three of us could do it!

The three of us?

Hanuman destroyed half the city
by himself. How hard could it be?

The three of us.

Sita.

No.

Ravan made a mistake
underestimating Hanuman.

He won't make that mistake again.
He'll be ready for us.

He knows we're coming.

The demon king will take
to the battlefield himself

with all his legions beside him.

Then it will be easier
to wipe them all out in one go.

In courage, you have no equal,
Lakshman.

If that was all we needed,

I'd send you alone
and be certain of victory.

We will have only one chance
against Ravan.

We do not know his full strength,
and we must be cautious until we do.

My heart weighs me down, Lakshman.

I have been patient so long
I am weary of it.

Yet it was easy to wait
when I did not know where she was.

But to know she is so close
makes the pain all the greater.

I can barely restrain myself
to wait a day,

an hour or even a minute,
but I must.

I must. But...

But the waiting is hard.

As you say, brother.
Only a few more steps and...

Look.

It's a warship.

Ravan's armies are bringing the fight
to our shores rather than his.

But just one ship?

Then spies. Sent to count our numbers
and report back to their king.

Before that happens,
we must intercept them.

The only thing they'll be counting
are the fish.

Wait, Lakshman.
They have done us no harm.

And I will make sure they don't.

You have travelled far from home.

I am Vibheeshan.

Brother to King Ravan.

Ravan's brother! You should
have brought an army, rakshas.

Wait, my Prince!
I know Vibheeshan.

When I was brought before Ravan,

he pleaded for my life.

He is a man of honour.

Do you trust him, Hanuman?

I do, my Prince.

Then join us, wise Vibheeshan.
Tell me why you have forsaken Lanka.

There is indeed much to discuss.

Vibheeshan has described
all of Lanka's defences

and her armies.

Ravan is well prepared
and waiting for us.

Our only hope for victory will be
to strike with our full strength.

Anything less and we shall shatter
upon his city walls,

accomplishing nothing.

Without ships?

Without ships.

Then we are trapped.

Perhaps not.

What is your brother doing?

Asking for help.

Help? From whom?

The sea.

Brother. Brother.

The sea will not aid us.

We must find another way across to Lanka.
Perhaps we can build ships.

No, we have lost enough time.

I have lost my father.
I have lost my home.

I have lost my wife.

And I have lost my patience.

Sagar Dev, I am calling you,
Lord of the sea!

You have not heard my prayers!

Now you'll face my wrath!
