The Herculoids (1967–1969): Season 1, Episode 11 - Swamp Monster/Destroyer Ants - full transcript

NARRATOR: Somewhere out in
space live the Herculoids.

Zok, the laser-ray dragon!

Igoo, the giant rock ape!

Tundro, the tremendous!

Gloop and Gleep,
the formless, fearless wonders.

With Zandor, their leader.

And his wife, Tara
and son, Dorno.

They team up
to protect their planet

from sinister invaders!

All-strong.
All-brave. All-heroes.

They're "The Herculoids."

Do you hear that too, Igoo?

We better go have a look.

I still hear it
but I don't see anything.

Whatever it is, I don't like it.

Igoo!

Watch out, Igoo!

Get up, Igoo, get up!

More ants!

Thousands of them.

Igoo! Igoo!

Back, Igoo. Back!

Quick, we've got
to get to the other side.

They're coming. Faster, Igoo!

Igoo, you've got to hold them
until I get help.

If it's what you say, Tara,
unless they're stopped

they'll destroy
all life on this planet.

Dorno, stay close.

Yes, Zandor.

Look, there's Igoo.

He's destroyed the bridge.

Yes, but I'm afraid
that won't stop them. Look!

Get back, Igoo!

Igoo, get back!

Now, Zok!

Great! That stopped them.

Once they start on a march,
nothing stops them. Look!

It didn't stop them!

What are we going to do?

Our only hope is that
they will keep marching

toward the canyon
between those bluffs.

But what if they don't?

I've got an idea.

Everybody head
for the bluffs except Igoo.

Now, hurry! They're coming fast.

Igoo, I have
another job for you.

There they are.

I see them.

They're headed the wrong way.

It's time
to try and turn them.

We've got the steer them
through this canyon.

Zok, signal Igoo
to start the avalanche.

I hope this works.

It has to work!

It worked, Zandor. It worked!

They turned.

Yes, but not enough.
You wait here.

Where are you going?

ZANDOR: To turn them.

He did it, Tara.
They're heading this way now.

Yes. Now, you better
get back out of the way.

Good job, Igoo.

Now let's get back.

They're almost at the mouth
of the canyon.

- Look out, Tara.
- Ugh!

Come on, Tundro,
we've gotta save her.

We're coming, Tara!

Dorno!

They made it!

That was close, Gloop.

If they keep going,
we've got this battle won.

What do you mean, Zandor? How?

You see that end of the canyon?

Well, that canyon
leads directly

over to bottomless cliffs.

They'll march to the last ant
in to that darkness.

Has it ever happened before?

Yes, and we can only hope,
it never happens again.

Zandor, look!

It's a cosmic fragment.

Zandor, it's going to hit.

TARA: That was a close call.
ls every one alright?

Yes, Tara. We're lucky

that meteor landed
in the misty swamps.

Head for the misty swamps,
Tundro.

Let's see if we can get
a look at that cosmic fragment.

I don't see any signs
of that fragment but..

Look! Look at those
foot prints.

Something big
came out of this swamp

and headed up that way.

That's right, Tundro.

The Tree people
live up that way.

Come on, we gotta warn them.

Just look at that,
the Tree Village is in ruins.

I hope they all got away.

But if they didn't..

Look at that!

The thing from the swamps.

Look, Gleep's
right in it's path.

We gotta
get out of here, Gleep.

Tundro, don't go near it.

It destroys
everything it touches.

Get Zandor, Tundro. Hurry!

Uh-oh, here it comes.

We've gotta
get over to that cave.

When Tundro sounds
like that, something's wrong.

I'm going
to find out what it is.

Igoo, Zok, follow Zandor.

Come on, Gloop, we're going too.

Dorno's at the Tree Village, eh?

I'll go on ahead,
you follow, Tundro.

Watch it, Gleep.

Maybe he's given up, Gleep.

Gleep, are you alright?
Gleep, where are you?

Get back here.

Now, stay in here
where he can't reach us.

That sounds like one
of Zandor's energy rocks, Gleep.

That beast contains
a lot of powerful energy.

Tundro, use your energy rocks.

Tundro, Igoo,
don't get too close.

Zok, here.

He's filled with radiation, Zok.

Your chargers
just make him stronger.

Look, those rocks,
they're magnetetron.

Shoot through the creature
into those rocks.

It should drain his energy.

If it works,
it's the only way to stop him.

ZANDOR: Zok, it's working!

Don't let up, Zok,
he's going down.

Igoo, throw that boulder
into the river. Hurry!

It'll divert it.

DORNO: There he goes,
into the swamp.

ZANDOR: Back where it came from.

Oh, Zandor, I saw
what happened. It was terrible.

Well, it's all over now, Tara.

You think that cosmic fragment
caused this, Zandor?

ZANDOR: it seems that way,
Dorno.

Let's hope that someday
we can harness that power

for something useful.
