The Great Food Truck Race (2010–…): Season 4, Episode 7 - Capital Gains - full transcript

In the "Great Food Truck Race" finale, the teams go all over the East Coast, beginning with a stop in Annapolis, Maryland, followed by a crab challenge - and a surprise elimination - at a Chesapeake Bay wharf.

Previously on
"The Great Food Truck Race" ‐‐

It began six weeks ago in
the dream capital of the world.

How awesome is that?

Eight teams of food‐truck
rookies took off

on a cross‐country
culinary road trip

to win $50,000 and keep their
state‐of‐the‐art food truck.

I want that truck.
I want it so bad.

So far, the teams have cooked
their way through eight states

and covered 3,400 miles while
dealing with extreme weather,

complicated Truck Stop
cooking challenges...

There's too many knives.
You guys are making me nervous.

...and daunting speed bumps.

Come on!

Along the way,

five strong teams
fell by the wayside.

I need you to step up
and give me your keys.

And the remaining contenders
found themselves

on our first‐ever
three‐team finale.

The savvy guys
of Tikka Tikka Taco

spun their wheels in third place
for four weeks.

What a shock.
Tikka Tikka's in third place.
We'll take it.

But they stepped up
in the Twin Cities

and then dominated Chicago
with two huge Truck Stop wins.

You guys are free to drive
to the next city.
Yeah!

Now they have
a five‐hour head start

to Annapolis, Maryland,

and a significant lead
heading into the final weekend.

The Hawaiians of Aloha Plate

were on cruise control
for several weeks.

We got, like,
60 people hanging out.

But a sub‐par performance
in Chicago changed all that.

280 more to go.

All of a sudden,
their Aloha swagger is gone.

Philly's Finest Sambonis
has endured

almost every
possible catastrophe

that can befall a food truck.

Did you say anything
about the money?!

But they are still
very much alive...

...and getting closer and closer
to home.

They just need to get out
of Mike Ditka's restaurant.

I think I got something for you
guys to do for four hours.

Now our finale continues here
in Annapolis, Maryland.

Three trucks remain,
but not for long,

because our final two
will battle head‐to‐head

around and in
our nation's capital,

where one of them will win
$50,000

and their very own food truck.

Who will win it all?

Who will make the long,
lonely trip home?

I'm Tyler Florence, and this is
"The Great Food Truck Race."

Let's get rolling.

Food truck road trip!

What do you know about
Annapolis?

They are called the sailing
capital of the world.

Coming to Annapolis,

I feel great about the progress
that we've made.

If we're not in first place yet,

this five‐hour head start
that we have

is gonna put us in first place
by the end of the day.

If we hook up with something

that has to do with boats,
sailing.

Let's see if we can get ahold of
the yacht club.

Maybe we can sweet talk
ourselves into it.

All right,
re‐clean this one.

Send it back.
Back through.

We're in our fourth hour
washing dishes.

We imagine Tikka being past
the border.

They're on the other side
of state lines.

You guys got to keep up
with these dishes.

We don't know what we're gonna
do to catch Tikka at this point.

They're five hours ahead.

They could be done selling
before we even get there.

All right, guys,
your five hours are up.

Hit the road.
Oh, yeah.

Come on.
Come on, guys.

Thank you.
Get out of here. Go!

Free at last.
Out of here.

- Amoo.
- Yeah, baby.

We're almost there.

We got our list,
we got our cash.

Tyler's speed bump of having
five menu items on the board

is still in effect, and for us,

it still feels like
it's not even a speed bump.

Do you want to get this big ones
for the taquitos?
Yes.

We're gonna be serving our
signature Tikka Tikka Tacos,

nachos, taquitos, spinach salad,
and our veggie roll.

We have five solid items
on the menu,

and we are ready to serve
the town of Annapolis

with great food.

We did a little bit of research
on Annapolis,

and the one thing we do know is
there's a historic district.

It's lined with bars.

Everything is there,
so we have to be there.

All right, yeah. I'm gonna call
this brewery up now,

Ram's Head Tavern,
and see what they got to say.

We need to have an amazing day
in Annapolis

just to catch up
to the other teams

because we did so bad
in Chicago.

We're starting off with

half the amount of money
as the other teams.

Hi, how you doing?
My name's Erik.

I'm in town with the Philly's
Finest Sambonis food truck,

and we were hoping to maybe park
out front of your restaurant.

Oh, man, are you kidding me?

There is a city stipulation

that no food trucks are allowed
in the historic district.

We have an amazing spot,
and you can't park in it.

If you could help us out
in finding a spot

that is not
in the historic district,

'cause we're not sure
of the boundaries.

It sounds like you are.

Hey, bro. I heard
we can't go to that spot ‐‐

the historical area.

Yeah, so the historic district,
we can't go,

but I think we have
a couple other spots

that we're gonna try
right in front of it.

Annapolis is gonna be tough.

Tikka has a huge lead on us,

and Philly has a huge advantage
'cause we're in their backyard.

We're
behind‐hind‐hind‐hind‐hind.

We're here.

We're at
the Annapolis Yacht Club,

and there's a line around
the corner,

so our location
is turning out to be killer.

Five‐hour head start.

With that many people out there,
that is awesome.

$1,500 in the line right now.

This is absolutely insane.

The ticket window's full,

there's still a line around
the corner,

and if this continues
the way it's going now,

we've basically turned
a five‐hour head start

into about a $2,500 advantage.

I've been in India before
and had actual Indian food,

and so it's a great blend of the
American and the Indian food.

So, we need to find a wholesale
store, dude, like, ASAP.

Finale, boys.
Game face.

Support the east coast.

We still need to keep
our five items on the menu.

Grab two of these bad boys.

All we need to do is get
a little bit of chicken,

little bit more steak meat.

I don't want to have to
go shopping again, so ‐‐
Exactly. Just get it.

And we should be good to the end
of the day.

All right, now I'm gonna follow
you guys

over to the spot,
all right?
Yep.

We need chicken thighs,

we need hamburgers,
we need buns.

We're gonna keep rolling
with our old faithful ‐‐

our teriyaki burger
and volcanic mayo,

sesame chicken sandwich,
Spam sandwich...

Here we go.
...Chicken Lettuce Wrap
and a Beef Lettuce Wrap.

It's getting scary, huh?

Straight down Generals
Highway and it turns into West.

I'm about a half a mile up.
Beautiful.

All we're gonna do is find out

where that line is
for the historic district,

and we're gonna park
right next to it.

We're here now, baby.

Yeah!

This is the best welcome party

that we've had
in the entire competition.

Mwah!

My grandmother's here.

They're east‐coast people,
my people.

We appreciate you guys.

Let's go show them how
the east coast parties.

Yeah, boy!

Kind of took a page out
of Aloha's.

We reached out
to our east‐coast people.

We got people from Philadelphia
driving out to see us.

We're in our home court.

Two cheese steaks, without?

Yeah.
Awesome.

Thank you guys
for waiting.

We'll get right to you,
all right? Mahalo.

We showed up in Annapolis,

and the Hawaiians and the
Polynesians, mad love again.

Chicken lettuce wrap
and a beef lettuce wrap.

Each one of those plates
will be $15.

That's what Hawaii people do.

Just hope
we can serve them all.

May I have two teri burgers
and the Spam Sandwich?

Thank you, bro.

Three Tikka Tacos
and two orders of nachos?

That will be $60, Ma'am.

This is definitely the
strongest open we've ever had.

This is like Pocatello
Farmers' Market, but better.

Advantage is over.
Now it's a level playing field,

and we need to keep up with
the rest of the teams.

Aloha can sell, and Philly's
back on the east coast.

So we got to
keep moving, man.

Can't be satisfied with $3,000

when we've already made $2,500,

so we increased the goal
to $4,000,

which would be our biggest
single day ever.

We're doing well,
but we're not safe.

This is probably the biggest
line we've had since San Fran,

and we won when we were
in San Fran,

so if we can keep this pace up,
we're still in this game.

I'm in Samboni heaven!

Our entire ticket line is full.

I have an entire book in my hand

that I can't even rip
the tickets out yet

because there's no room.

Now that they're finally on
the east coast, it's awesome,

you know, we're here to support
them, and it's just a good time.

You guys bought us out.
No more cheesesteaks.

Have a good night.

Hey, so that's it, dude.

Oh, geez.

It's the end of the day.
We had a phenomenal one.

The best day we've had
since we started this race.

You want to know
what we ended up with?
What?

- By my count.
- Uh‐huh.

$5,100.

One day.

We want to thank you guys

for coming to support
the Aloha Plate truck.

Thank you guys so much.

We made a good amount of money
today.

You know,
Tikka had the head start.

I sure hope we closed the gap
at least a little bit.

Good job, guys.

This is the first time
we had to shut down our doors

for running out of food.

This was definitely the best day

that we've ever had
in this entire competition.

We asked for east‐coast love,
and we got it.

We're right back, dude.
We're right back in the game.

If we have another day
like this, dude,

we can win this thing.
Keep talking like that.

Yeah.
You're firing me up
right now.

I came right back
like I left something.

Early!
Early!

That's a wrap.

Coming up on
"The Great Food Truck Race"...

Let's go crabbing.

We're gonna cook crab right
in the heart of crab country.

We might as well just pack up.
We're coming home.

There's really nothing
more dangerous than somebody
with nothing to lose.

One of you has won
"The Great Food Truck Race."

So, our three final teams
came in red‐hot from Chicago

and pretty much took Annapolis
by storm.

When Tikka got here, they were
only $249 ahead of Aloha Plate.

Only time will tell

if they maximized
their five‐hour head start.

As far as the Samboni boys,

well, they definitely needed
to bounce back

after being beaten up
in Chicago,

and I think it's safe to say
that they did.

They are only 129 miles away
from home.

I could easily see them having
a home‐field advantage

being this close
to Philadelphia.

What these teams need now

is a full solid day of selling
in Annapolis.

No distractions,
no interruptions.

No chance.

We knew this was coming.

Aloha, kakahiaka.

Hey, guys, it's Tyler.
How you doing, my man?

Guys, I'm not gonna beat around
the bush.

We're gonna have a Truck Stop
cooking challenge right now.
Uh‐oh.

What I want you to do is
drive right past Annapolis

and meet me on Kent Island.

We're going old‐school
in Maryland.

We're gonna cook crab right
in the heart of crab country.

It's what you're expecting.
Crabs.

I knew it!

We kind of thought
that was coming, Tyler.

However, you're not gonna be
able to shop again,

so for this cooking challenge,

you're gonna have to use
whatever ingredients

you have on your truck
right now.

Wow.
We can't shop.

And listen, I'm not looking
for a crab cake here.

I want some chops.

I want to see what you can
do and so does your judge.

We have a judge today?
Yes.

This one will be judged by
taste, just like in Chicago.

Taste.

And the prize is a game‐changer,
guaranteed.

We got it. We need it.
Let's go.

Now, you may have been expecting
a crab challenge,

but I've got a little surprise
to tell you about,

and we'll talk about that
when you get here.

What the heck
is happening?

Get yourselves over
the Bay Bridge and come meet me.

Straight over
the Bay Bridge.

I promise this will be
the most important dish

that any of you have ever cooked
in your life.

Better make it count.

Hurry up.
I'll see you soon.

We have old bay,
we have rolls.

I smell a lobster roll.

Oh, man, we're screwed.
We got nothing on the truck.

What can we cook?

Basically, all we have left is
some mayonnaise and some foil.

I think this is the first time

our whole theory of thin to win
is gonna backfire on us.

Do you think crab is gonna
pair well with raita?

Yogurt sauce on a crab?
I just don't see that.

Not in Maryland.

Tikka Tikka.

What's up, guys?

Good to see you, bro.
Aloha.
Good morning.

How's it going, bud?
Good.
Good to see you.

Teams, welcome to Kent Island ‐‐

the oldest settlement
in the state of Maryland.

I brought you here because
I thought there'd be

no better place
to cook with Maryland blue crab

than right here in the heart
of blue crab country.

Now teams,
when I called you to come here,

I told you that I had
a little surprise for you.

It's this.

We're not gonna cook anything

but fresh crabs
here in Maryland.

That's right, teams.

I got three boats

waiting to take you
out to the Chesapeake Bay.
Yeah!

I thought butchering a buffalo
was exciting, but today,

we actually get on a boat,
and we get to go crabbing.

That's awesome.

This is shaping up to be
a great day. I can't wait.

There are dozens of pots filled
with beautiful blue crab

just waiting to be pulled
from the water,

and you're gonna do it.

You'll have two hours
to head out, pull two crab pots,

come back here,
and cook a beautiful dish.

The team with the best crab dish

earns the reward
that I was talking about ‐‐

the one that you're all
gonna really, really want.

That's because it's worth $1,500
in your till.

Yeah!
What?

Let's get that money.

We need that $1,500 bad.

We had a terrible,
terrible day in Chicago.

This $1,500 could put us
right back in the game.

All right,
are you guys ready to fish?

Yeah!
Yeah! Yeah!
Yeah!

Let's go!
Yeah!

Look at all the fishermen.

All right.

Let's go crabbing.

The first thing I
ever cooked in my life
was blue‐claw crabs.

If Tikka wins
this challenge,

there's no way
you can overcome that.

This is enough.
Yeah.

I grew up
on a fishing boat.
How many do you think
we need?

I want to get
at least 10 of them.

Oh, he got me.

I grew up fishing in a boat,

but pulling up a crab trap,
never done that before.

There's a Maryland blue crab
right there, baby.

Yeah! Look at this.
This is nice.

Watch your feet.
Aah!

Behind you.
Aah!

Let's go make
some crab dishes.

Let's go.

We got this, boys.

Go, Shawn.

All right, guys,
you got 30 minutes left.

So, right now,
I'm cutting the onions.

They are cleaning the crab,

which is important
that we clean it well

to grill it on the grill.

We're gonna do crab ceviche.

We want to stay away
from our regular menu

and kind of create
something very different.

What we're doing is we took
a little bit of oil,

little bit of garlic, little bit
of spice to give it a kick,

and we're gonna just put it
on the pita

to make garlic pita chips.

I know Philly's gonna make
a great dish.

I know Aloha's gonna make
a great dish.

We just have to make
a better one.

$1,500 riding on one dish.

This is one of the
most important dishes
we have ever made.

I've never cooked a crab
on a grill before.

We're steaming, baby.

I would like to make crabs
and gravy, like a red sauce,

but we didn't get a chance
to go shopping,

so we're gonna put together
a crab bruschetta.

Making a little bit
of sweet onions, sweet tomatoes

to go with the sweetness
of the crab.

Cut it with some salt
with the old bay toast.

The meat towards the back
is a little bit sweeter.

Yeah, that's good.

So, we want to use
all the back fin.

We need to win this
or pack our bags.

- What you need me to do?
- Just be supportive.

We can't make crab dip.
We don't have any chips.

So, now I'm gonna make
a stuffed crab.

We're gonna go with
crab queso legs.

What I'm gonna do is add
some vegetables, cut my onion,

some crab, some orzo pasta, and
stuff it back in a crab's head.

If Tikka wins this challenge,
they win the whole thing.

We might as well just pack up,
call Hawaiian Airlines.

We're coming home.

10...
Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.

...9...
Get it away from there.

...8...
Make sure we got
all the shell out.

...7...
Come on, fill these up.

...6...
I'll get it.

- ...5...
- I think we're good.

...4...
It looks awesome.
Don't touch.

...3...
Tick‐tock,
tick‐tock.

...2, 1.

That's it, teams.

Let's see what you got.

Teams,
I don't have to tell you

the United States Naval Academy

is a major part of the community

here in and around
Annapolis, Maryland.

So, it only seems appropriate
that your judge today

would be a man who feeds

thousands of midshipmen
every single day.

Teams, meet Culinary Specialist

First Class Jamar Hargress
of the United States Navy.

Say hello.

Hello.
How you doing?

It's an honor.

We have someone in
from the Navy,

Culinary Specialist First Class.

This is gonna be great.

CS1 Hargress
knows how important this dish is

to each and every one of you,

so he's not gonna hand
this award out lightly.

All right, this is it.
If Tikka wins, game over.

If Philly boys win,
we don't know where we're at.

This is a must‐win situation
for us.

All right, guys, let's eat.

Joe from
Philly's Finest Sambonis,

step on up and tell us about
your crab dish.

How you doing, sir?
It's a pleasure.

Basically, what we have here
today is a crab bruschetta.

You have the sweetness
from the crab,

you got a little bit of
sweet onion, tomato bruschetta,

and we also have
some old bay toast

to get that salty crunch
in there.

All right, CS1 Hargress, what
did you think about the crab?

The taste was perfect.

But I got a little bit of shell
inside the crab meat.

Always a pleasure, man.

Pleasure, man.
Thanks so much.

Shell in the crab meat is
the worst possible scenario.

How the hell did we end up with
a shell in there?

I plated it, so it's my fault.

Adam from Aloha Plate,
step on up.

Let me see what you got.

Hello, gentlemen.

Here we have
a Maryland blue‐crab stuffed.

We used the back fin,
some claw meat, and leg meat,

so three parts of the crab.

We used the head to stuff,
some orzo pasta.

What did you think?

Flavor was real good.

It had that little spice
to it.

But it was
a little bit too salty.

But I love how you brought
the sauce into it,

'cause most Marylanders,

they use a sauce
with their crab meat,

so good job on that.

All right, brother.
Thanks so much.

Good luck.
Thank you. Okay.

The reviews on our dish
are good, but not great.

But at least we didn't have
any shells in there.

All right, Mike from
Tikka Tikka Taco, step on up.

Hello, gentlemen.

Being a nice warm day,

we decided to make a light,
refreshing crab ceviche nacho

served over
some nice warm pita bread.

We drizzled a little bit of
our signature spice mix on top,

some garlic,
a little jalapeño.

I love the freshness
of the flavor,

but it needed more of your sauce
on it.

A little more spice.

It was like it's there,
but it's like I want more.

Thanks so much, man.
Appreciate it.

Thank you for your service.
Thank you.

I'm feeling pretty confident
at this point.

He has harsh criticism
for the other two dishes,

and for mine, he just said
that he wants more.

Okay, guys,

CS1 Hargress has tasted
all of your crab dishes.

Which team has earned
this game‐changing reward?

I know you had
limited ingredients

and a short amount of time,

and you brought
outstanding plates today.

But there can only be one
winner, and that winner is...

...Aloha Plate.

Good job, man.

Aloha Plate, I really appreciate
how you brought it today,

and I loved the ingredients
and the presentation,

so good job.
Mahalo.

Yes! We win.

Adam cooked the dish
of his life.

Game changer.

All right, guys, CS1 Hargress

has a brigade
of midshipmen to feed.

He has to get back to
the United States Naval Academy.

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much.
Thank you
for your service.

Hooyah.

Now, is everybody ready
to get out there and
start selling again?

Yeah.
Yes.

Well, I wish I could send
all you back out there...

but unfortunately, one team
is about to go home right now.

Guys, I told you
we were gonna get down

to two teams eventually,
and that time is now.

This is our sixth "Great
Food Truck Race" elimination.

In this ledger
are your sales totals

from Chicago and Annapolis,

and yes, Aloha Plate,

I'm adding your $1,500
to the bottom line right now.

If we had won this challenge,

then I feel that we would've put
this competition out of reach.

Instead of that $1,500
going to my till,

it's now going to their till ‐‐
Could be killer.

Two of you will
leave this island and head
yet to another destination

where you will battle
head‐to‐head

for the right to take home
your food truck and win $50,000.

Let's do it.
Let's get this over with.

Let's get down to two.

In first place
and safe in our final two

with a two‐city total of $9,129,
Tikka Tikka Taco.

Yes!
Yes!

Man, it feels good to be here
right now.

The first time he said "first
place" and "Tikka Tikka Taco"

in the same sentence.

It's an amazing feeling.

Wow, guys.

You finally broke through
and won one of these things.

I got to say, winning those two
Truck Stops sure didn't hurt.

Go ahead and take a step back.
You guys are safe.

Okay, guys,
there's only one spot left.

I'm nervous.

I'd be feeling
a lot more comfortable

if I had just won
that $1,500 challenge.

I'm getting anxiety.

I'm hoping we're safe,
but you never know.

In second place and moving on
to join Tikka Tikka Taco,

with $8,562...

...Aloha Plate.

Congratulations, guys.

Good job, fellas.
Good job.

We've got ourselves
a final two.

Adam, Shawn, Lanai,
take a step back.

You guys are safe.

You are about to go toe‐to‐toe
with Tikka Tikka Taco,

and that is gonna be
a battle worth watching.

Philly's Finest,
you guys were just like

another famous underdog
from Philadelphia.

You guys had a wild ride.

You are going home today

with numbers
that would've killed

the first two, three weeks.

You guys made $5,685,
and it just wasn't enough.

If we would've won
the crab challenge,

we would've beat Aloha by $123.

That's a tough pill to swallow.

But guys, watching
you work was a lot of fun.

You came to this race
to represent

the city of brotherly love,
and you did your city proud.

This Samboni truck
is not going to Philly.

But I can't wait to see what you
guys do when you get there...

...in a few hours.

You know what I'm gonna say
next.

Please hand me your keys.

And I hate to see you guys go,

but you got to head back
to Philly.

Hey, man, it's been real.
It's been real.

Awesome experience.
Yeah,
it really has, man.

Sad to see Philly go.
Those are some good guys.

Aloha, brothers.

Guys, a round of applause
for Philly's Finest Sambonis.

Whoo!
Philly!

It's been a hell of a ride,

and I'm honestly just happy
to have made it this far

and have made it past teams
that have been so good.

Peace!

To not finish it
is brutal.

You know what, dude?

It was an adventure
of a lifetime.

America has not seen
the last of the Samboni boys.

Whether they want to or not.
I promise it.

When I go home, I'm taking a
two‐week break from both of you.

- Well, guys, this is it.
- You are the final two.

Congratulations.

Tikka Tikka Taco
and Aloha Plate,

St. Louis versus Hawaii.

This is gonna be great.

We're in a much better spot now.

We closed a huge gap
on Tikka today.

We got to be close.

All right, guys,
this finale continues,

and you are going back out
to sell.

The only question is where.

Well, for the first time ever,

"The Great Food Truck Race"
is headed west.

It's time to move
to that sixth and final state ‐‐

the state of Virginia.

Arlington, Virginia,
as a matter of fact.

It's a thriving business hub

with lots of art, entertainment,
and really great food.

And you're gonna have to hustle
until I call this race,

and I'm not ready to do that
just yet.

We got to go to
Arlington, Virginia,

so this race isn't over yet.

We have to keep plowing through.

Ready to do this?
Yeah.

Let's get rolling!
Yeah!

Let's go.

Coming up...
I want to cry.

I don't know how much more
I can Tikka take.

One of you has won
"The Great Food Truck Race."

It's day four
of our grand finale,

and we are finally down
to two teams.

Can you believe
that we are in the final two?

Aloha Plate and Tikka Tikka Taco

are racing from
Annapolis, Maryland,

to Arlington, Virginia,

where they will sell
head‐to‐head.

There's a couple small bars
in the area

with a bunch
of food shopping.

We should go
check that out.

Both teams think Virginia's
their final stop

and that the race ends today.

The plan is,
we're headed to Clarendon,

which is supposedly the busy
part of town on Sunday nights.

Both teams are wrong.

Let's go. Come on,
we're in a hurry. Let's go.

Oh, my God.

I know Aloha Plate
can roll up anywhere

and attract
a Hawaiian following.

We don't have that luxury, so
we have to make better decisions

and we have to attract
our own crowd.

Hey there, sir. What can we get
started for you, buddy?

Absolutely.

Hold on, man,
you see the other food trucks?

Is that a good idea?

It's the only idea
we got, bro.

We really don't have a plan
for Virginia

'cause we weren't planning on
going to Virginia.

So, we're gonna find a spot
that's busy

and hopefully,
it pays off for us.

Who was here first?

You want the teri burger?
Yes, please.

Teri burger.
That's $15 each.

Patrick.
What can I get you,
brother?

You know that Spam sandwich,
brother.

I'll get you some change.

Help yourself
to some pineapple lemonade.

Appreciate you guys coming
and supporting us.

Ben?
Mahalo, brother.

Mahalo. We'll call your name
as soon as it's ready.
Thank you.

It's very good,
especially for food‐truck food.

You know, I didn't have
any real expectations,

but this is very high‐end

compared to
your regular food truck.

In other words,
it's really good.

Right now, we're sitting
in the shade with no traffic.

Without any lead time to prepare
for Arlington,

we haven't been able to
find anything that is
going to draw a crowd,

and that's really frustrating.

There's a festival going on.

Aloha somehow got in there.
I'm not sure how they did.

It looked like there was a spot
over there.

Let's go.
Let's move it.

We know there's people
at where Aloha Plate is,

and even if we can't draw
a big crowd there,

maybe we can take some business
away from them.

We need to drum up some business
out there, dude.

Our goal is to sell
everything out tonight again.

Again.

Everywhere we go, the Aloha
spirit seems to find us,

and we just are overwhelmed.

They just show up
by the hundreds.

It's amazing.
I'm like chicken skin.

Like, I want to cry.

Feels like I'm at home.

It just...
don't know what to say.

Come on. Let's go. They want to
sing "Hawaii Aloha."

Let's take a minute break.

"Hawaii Aloha" is one of
those songs that we share

and sing to celebrate life,
celebrate each other.

This is so awesome.

You guys ready
for some better food?

Everywhere Aloha Plate goes,
they find a bajillion Hawaiians.

I have no idea what's going on,

but it's working really well
for them.

You hungry, step right up.

It's a good thing at this point
we haven't got

a call from Tyler,
because today absolutely sucked.

We need one more day if
we're gonna pull this thing off.

Still hungry?
No, I'm good.

You sure?
Good now.

You sure?

Today, we did
exceptionally well.

That's what we think.

We're done for the day.

It's one of the best days
we've ever had.

It's time to pack up
and go home.

I couldn't be more proud of
the performance we had today.

We had such a good day today.
We're out of food.

Let's just call it
a night.

We'll go shop
in the morning.

Okay, that sounds cool with me.
I'm done.

Let's do it.

It's one of the best days
we've ever had, you guys.

Best day I ever had.

The best days.
Good job.

I thought today was the last
day, to be honest with you,

so we have not got a call from
Tyler telling us anything.

Uh‐huh.
Looks like there'll be tomorrow.

Any advantage we had
at this point is probably lost.

The only good news is we still
haven't heard from Tyler.

So, it looks like we're gonna be
selling tomorrow,

and there's gonna be another
chance for Tikka Tikka Taco.

Let's have a good day
tomorrow, man.
All right.

We need another day of selling,

and it's got to be a lot more
in our favor than this one was.

The finish line is close,
man.

It's freakin' heat,
rain, snow, hail, sun.

It's just,
it's been a long journey.

It's day five

of our 800‐mile,
six‐state grand finale,

and our final two teams
are running on empty.

I'm, like, gonna pass out,
I think.

They're preparing for another
tough day of sales

in Arlington, Virginia,

and Tikka Tikka Taco knows

their once commanding lead
is now all but gone.

I don't know how much more
I can Tikka take.

The teams have no idea
when I'm gonna call again

or when this race is gonna end.

It's gonna end when we get
the keys to the truck, right?

Well, they're about to find out.

Here we go.

Show time, guys.

Aloha, kakahiaka.

Good morning. It's Tyler.
Good morning, Tyler.

I bet by now you guys
are wondering when
this race is gonna end.

I was exactly wondering
when this race is gonna end.

I don't know
how you knew that.

Well, the answer is...

soon ‐‐ very soon.

So he tells us nothing.

Thanks, Tyler.
That's really cool.

Guys, your final destination
is not the state of Virginia

or any state,
for that matter.

Yes, of course, your final city
is Washington, D. C.

D.C. is not a state?

This race is gonna end
in the nation's capital.

One more thing.
I want you to add a special ‐‐

one that honors
your competition.
Oh, great.

Tikka, you're gonna add
a teriyaki burger to your menu.

We're adding a teriyaki burger
to the menu.

And Aloha,
you're gonna offer

chicken Tikka tacos
with yogurt sauce.

We're gonna offer
a chicken Tikka taco

with yogurt sauce
as our special.

Serious?
Yes.

Both with a standard price
of $10 ‐‐ no more, no less.

And if you sell 50 of these
specials before I call the race,

I'll add $1,000 to your till
just like that.

1,000 bucks?
We could use that.

Don't worry, Aloha,
you can still sell your burger,

and Tikka, you can still sell
your tacos.

Yeah, we can still sell
the tacos and everything.

Sounds good, Tyler.
All right, guys.

Next time you hear from me,
this race will be over.

Mahalo.

What do you think their taco
consists of?

Well, a general taco comes with
meat, a tortilla, some filler,

but with these guys,
we're gonna use chicken

with some Indian spice,
some yogurt.

I don't know
what they put in their taco.

I've never had it.

I don't know where to start.

I'll have everything ready.
Yeah.

But our objective is to get
these tacos sold first.
Yes.

The advantage is there's nothing
easier than making a burger,

and if you've never made
a chicken Tikka taco before,

you have no idea
what you're doing.

My biggest concern is, where
are we gonna park this truck?

We have no lead time to prep,
we have no time to research.

We just have to make burgers
and sell them.

One of the local truck guys
that we talked to yesterday

says Union Station might be
the place to be,

and also that Farragut Square

is a very popular
food truck location.

He said the trouble with both of
them is finding a spot to park.

Let's get these.

Now, we have to have six things
on the menu now,

so what we're gonna do is shop
what our normal shop is,

but we have a bunch of stuff
on the truck,

so we're buying minimal
on the five other things

and just focusing
on the new challenge item.

$222.71 is your total.

Has to be teriyaki,
so teriyaki and salsa.

We need to do five of these.

5 of those would be ‐‐
5 times 12?

60.
60.

Perfect. I wanted a little extra
just in case.

I'm feeling pretty confident

because it's gonna be
a hell of a lot easier

to make a teriyaki hamburger

than it is gonna be for them
to make our chicken Tikka.

First thing we're gonna
do is we're gonna head
to the lawn front

and see if we can find
a parking spot there.

You're gonna have to follow
close in that truck.

We made it. D. C.

We're gonna go
to this square.

It's supposed to have
a lot of foot traffic.

I don't know
the name of it.

I just know it's on K Street
and 17th.

Right there.
Let's go. Go.

If we sell 50 specials,
we get a $1,000 bonus.

We need this.

Time is the one thing
we don't have on our side.

We're gonna do
what we always do.

We let the line build up,
we get our sales in first,

and from when we're ready,
we start dishing the food up.

If I see a spot once we hit this
intersection, I'm jumping out.

We're going into a town
that's tough for cars to park.

Trying to find a place to park
a food truck with no notice,

this is gonna be a nightmare.

Let's straighten up
a little bit.

Want to do it?
Let's do it.

They come by, they tell us
to move, we'll move.

Our chicken Tikka taco
is flying off the shelf.

We should've started selling
this from the beginning.

Indian food and Tikka taco
off a Hawaiian food truck.

Why not?
It's absolutely delicious.

You actually get 5 bucks off
any of this stuff

with the purchase
of that burger.

Burger and a taco?

We season the burger
in the teriyaki

and we also dress the lettuce
in it,

so should be
a really good burger.

Our pineapple teriyaki burgers
taste delicious.

We're getting rave reviews
on them.

The food's outstanding ‐‐
just absolutely outstanding.

We need 20 more burgers sold and
we get an extra $1,200 for that,

so that's what we need
to make happen right now.

Two burgers for Alex,
four burgers for Bill.

Orders are kind of coming
and going.

It's a little bit hit and miss,

but at one point here,
it's gonna drop off

and we're gonna have to do
something drastic.

We're gonna drive up,
find the biggest crowd we can,

even if we have to park
illegally, park stupid.

I don't care what it takes.

We have nothing to lose,
dude,

and there's really nothing
more dangerous

than somebody with nothing
to lose.

This town has been so great
to us.

We had a huge challenge today,

and we had to sell 50 specials,
and we just did it,

so give yourselves
a round of applause.

Mahalo.

We sold the 50 specials.

This is huge for us.

Cap on the bottle.

I think we did awesome
today.

I think we did an excellent job.
You guys killed it.

Oh, tell me
that's not Tyler.

Oh. Tyler.

Hey, guys, it's Tyler.
Tyler.
What's going on?

This is the call ‐‐

the one you've been waiting
to get for seven weeks now.

We've been waiting for it.

This race is over.

You guys are 100% done.

The race is over, brother.

Awesome, guys.
Seven weeks.

The call
we've been waiting for.
Good job.

Pack it up and come meet me
at the finish line.

It's in front of
a little landmark here in D. C.

There's about 9 million
landmarks in D. C.

Which one would you like me
to go to?

The United States
Capitol Building.

Hey, brother, head to
the U. S. Capitol Building.

The U. S. Capitol Building.
Okay.

I'll be waiting for you
on the National Mall

in between Independence
and Constitution Avenues.

You'll each bring me
your cash boxes,

and I'll count the cash
right in front of you.

That might take a while
considering

how much money you've made
on both legs of this finale.

We done everything we can,
brother.

Now, I'm gonna count
every dollar,

but remember, everything under
a dollar rounds down.

The team with the highest total

wins their food truck
plus $50,000.

And the loser doesn't.

I hope it's enough.

All right, guys, that's it.

It's going down.

See you soon.
We're on our way.

End of our journey,
boys.
Let's go.

I wouldn't change a thing,
Adam.

Win or lose, brother,
we did good.

It was an amazing experience,
all in all.

I know two things, dude.

We fought hard,
we played with integrity,

and hopefully,
that's good enough.

You're absolutely right, man.
We did.

I mean, we fought hard,
we played smart.

Dude, we didn't make
a mistake.

Two days ago, we had a huge lead
on Aloha Plate.

As we approach that finish line,

I have no idea
if we've won or lost.

All I can do is hope
that we won.

Gentlemen, behind you

is the United States
Capitol Building ‐‐

an enduring symbol
of our great country.

You two teams travelled
4,181 miles across that country

to have the privilege
to stand here today.

But now, we are at the end
of that journey.

This is our seventh and final

"Great Food Truck Race"
elimination.

Guys, we started underneath the
Hollywood sign seven weeks ago.

I threw cooking challenges
at you,

speed bumps,
sometimes two in one weekend.

All you did was rise
to the occasion

and get better and better
every single week.

There is no one,
and I mean no one

who's better prepared to run
a food truck professionally

than the two teams
in front of me right now.

Now, this finale,
it's been a horse race.

The ups and downs,
the twists and turns

have been breathtaking.

And while I've been keeping
a close eye on your totals,

I don't know what's in
those boxes right now.

So, I've got to count
right here, right now.

And then, guys, and only then
will we have a winner.

All right, Tikka Tikka Taco,

step forward
and bring me your cash box.

Thanks, man.
Good luck.

Thank you.

Thanks so much, man.
There you go.
Thank you, Tyler.

All right, Aloha Plate,
come on up.

Here.

Thanks so much, man.

Thank you. Pleasure, man.
Good luck.

All right, guys.

One of you has won
"The Great Food Truck Race."

But guys,
no matter who wins this race,

I have seen from both teams
what it takes to be a winner ‐‐

commitment, integrity,
and teamwork.

Tikka Tikka Taco,
I look at your team,

and I have nothing
but admiration.

Mike, Shaun, the love
that you show Amoo here

is what life is all about ‐‐
Family.

And Sam, Amoo, these boys are
lucky to have you.

You've been a great mentor to
these two guys the entire race.

Thank you.

And Aloha, you're living proof
that one guy

can make a difference
in this world.

Adam, you saved a life
when you were just 18 years old,

and you turned
that into something

more than just about yourself.

You, your brother Lanai,
and your friend Shawn,

you guys have travelled way out
of your comfort zone,

and you brought the spirit
of Aloha to many people

who would've never had the
chance to experience otherwise.

All right, teams.

Brace yourselves.
This is it.

Let's find out who made the most
and who fell just short.

The winner of
"The Great Food Truck Race..."

...with $14,850...

Aloha Plate.

I cannot believe
we won this thing.

This one is for Hawaii.

Good job, guys.
You guys deserve it.

Mike, Shaun, Amoo,
I love those guys.

It was a tough competition.

My hat's off to them.

Tikka Tikka Taco,
this is so tough.

You made $11,774.

You guys fought hard with
good sportsmanship and dignity.

Thank you, Tyler.

Now, speaking of fighting
for something you believe in,

Shaun, you served your country
for four years in the U. S. Army,

and you came home to your family

and to claim your well‐deserved
slice of the American dream.

But I happen to know at least
one close friend of yours

was not so fortunate.
Yes, sir.

And for his sacrifice,
we're very grateful.

Shaun, Tikka Tikka Taco did not
win "The Great Food Truck Race."

But we are gonna donate $2,500
to The Fallen Patriot Fund

in your friend's name.

Thank you so much.

The name was
Sergeant Jeremy Summers.

He was an awesome dude.
I miss him a lot.

We all miss him.

We didn't win the truck,
but I did win something,

and to know
that he's being honored,

it means the world to me.

Shaun, there will be a
Tikka Tikka truck in St. Louis.

There will be for sure.

Go out
and make Jeremy proud.

I will.

This is really, really rough...

...but Mike, Shaun, and Amoo,
please hand me your keys.

Thank you for the opportunity,
Tyler.
It was fantastic.

Fantastic competitors.
Really great.
Thanks so much.

We may not have won
the food truck,

but I'll tell you
what we did win.

We won the knowledge,
the skills,

and the resources to do
this enterprise on our own.

How about a well‐deserved
round of applause

for your competitor,
Tikka Tikka Taco?

Great run, boys.

Congratulations to Aloha Plate.

They won fair and square.

I can honestly say
we have no regrets.

We fought hard, and I know we're
on to bigger and better things.

Well, Aloha Plate,
look at you guys, man.

The state of Hawaii was the last
to join the union,

but you guys are first in
"The Great Food Truck Race."

Yeah!

You earned that truck
and you earned this cash.

Now come on up
and enjoy both.

Aloha Plate has won
"The Great Food Truck Race."

Good job, fellas.
Yeah!

50,000 bucks, man.
It's all yours.
Whoo!

Mahalo!
Yes!

This is one of the best days
of my life.

Went through this fight,
this war, this battle,

this challenge, the whole
journey with Shawn and Lanai.

Awesome.

Tyler, mahalo
for your support, bro.

Thank you.
Thank you so much.

Listen, when you guys
get to California,
you might need a boat.

Enjoy the food truck, guys.
Enjoy the cash.

Mahalo! Mahalo!

Well done, fellas.

Aloha Plate wins
"The Great Food Truck Race."

Let's go home, boys.

Look at the truck.

This has been a long journey ‐‐

one of the most difficult things
I have ever done in my life.

We come from a little island
called Lanai of 2,500 people.

This is big time for us ‐‐
life‐changing.

Well done, guys.

Mahalo! Mahalo!
