Taken (2017–2018): Season 2, Episode 2 - Quarry - full transcript

When a plane crashes carrying Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) and a key witness in a murder investigation (guest star Alexander Draper), a wounded Mills must call upon the survival skills his ...

Give us a call when you get there?

Yep. I'll try.

I'm heading right to the
conference from the airport.

Then at least a text so
I know you got there.

Will do. Hey, Jamie.

Be good for your mom, okay?

Know what I was thinking?

Maybe we see a ball
game when I get back?

Yeah, yeah.

- I'll see you in a few days.
- Okay.

Nice family you got there.

Thanks.

You know they're gonna
find out eventually.

Yeah.

But not today.

Kilroy, right?

Yep.

You got your computer set up.

Computer?

A computer's something
you pick up at Best Buy.

This rig packs ten times the
processing power of anything

available on the consumer market,

running an adaptive data mining
algorithm being fed 24/7

by all of Big Brother's
intelligence feeds.

- It comes with a mouse, too.
- It does come with a...

Please don't.

What's going on in here?

Setting up a Fort Bragg
outlet store or something?

Tools of the trade.

Gotta be ready to give
something to get something.

Subtle.

Sort of like the missile that you

brought to the party in Mexico.

Saved your ass, didn't it?

You'll find I'm not a
fan of half measures.

Go big or go home?

More like go big so you
can go home. Excuse me.

Looks like you've
settled in. That's good.

'Cause we have a job.

This is Paul Graham.

He's a professor of Middle East studies

at Corwin University in Ohio.

Currently he's in Federal custody.

What'd he do?

Director Casey wouldn't elaborate.

He said it's a needtoknow,

and not relevant to our assignment.

What is our assignment?

Graham is scheduled to be transported

to a Federal courthouse in D.C.

We're going to ensure he gets there.

I thought babysitting prisoners
was the marshal's job.

Well, we do have a little experience.

That is hysterical.
That's really very funny.

Apparently the Director wants
to safeguard against any

potential threats from
within or without.

Okay. What's the play?

The transition points are where

Graham will be the most vulnerable.

So, Mills, you'll take the first point

in Ohio where Graham's trip begins.

Santana, you'll recon the
arrival airport in D.C.

Upon landing, the two of you will

shadow the detail for the
final leg to the courthouse.

Kilroy has your covers.
You can learn them on the way.

Any questions? Great.

Mills, a minute?

I just wanted to check in with you.

Okay. Why?

You've endured an extended
traumatic experience.

How are you readjusting?

I'm fine.

For the most part.

There's nothing you need
to be worried about.

Why don't you let me
be the judge of that?

Well, it's my folks.

I haven't told them I'm back yet.

Why not?

They've been through
so much this past year.

Losing my sister.

I just didn't want them
to worry about me.

You've been gone six months.

I'm not sure...

Reconnecting with them...

I mean, if something
should happen to me...

You're protecting them.

By staying out of sight,
you're staying out of mind.

I don't know, maybe.

Well, it's your business.

But I'd suggest you think it over.

Consider who it is
you're really protecting.

Well, you'd better get going.

Got a flight to catch.

Yeah?

They're headed your way.
You have your cover down?

Deputy Burke is in position.

They're here.

And you're on.

Burke, out of D.C.

Thought I knew all the
deputies in that office.

I transferred in last
month under Deputy Vega.

I know Vega.

He still bringing that mean
mutt of his into the office?

What was his name again?

The mutt's name is Sarge.
Got neutered a month ago.

Sarge.

Yeah, he's mellowed out a little

since Vega got him snipped.

Well, that'd do it.

Saddle up.

Hey.

Relax.

I hate flying.

Just watch the pilots.

If they're relaxed, you can be too.

What is that?

What? It's gone.

- What is?
- The plane.

We've got a flame out.
The electrical system's down.

The battery isn't kicking in.

Electromagnetic pulse just fried it.

You gotta find us a clearing.

A clearing? Where?

- We've got no hydraulics.
- What's happening?

Are they relaxed? They
don't look so relaxed.

- Get to the back of the plane.
- What's going on?

Just sit down and strap in.

- What are you doing?
- Hey!

The back of the plane is the
safest place to be in a crash.

Crash? Did you say crash?

Just forget about the
pilots and listen to me.

This plane is going down.

And if you wanna survive,
you do what I tell you.

Now when we hit, the fuel could ignite,

so you need to get away
from the plane if you can.

Get into your brace position.

Feet flat, head down. And remember...

Breathe.

God.

You're gonna have to deadstick it.

Keep the wings level.

Hold on!

Graham!

Easy now.

Bryan.

Bryan!

Bryan. Why do we look for a river?

To get water.

Yes, but only after you filter it.

A river can also lead
you to civilization.

What direction are we traveling in?

- I don't know.
- North?

West. Sun's on our left.

Dad, why do we have to do this?

Because you need to know
what it's like out here.

What it takes to survive.

You need to use your senses,

your instinct, your mind.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

I meant to miss.

Son, there's gonna come
a point in your life

when the only person you
can rely on is yourself.

I need to know you're gonna be okay.

Do you understand?

Go get the arrow.

Graham!

I don't care where he is.

I need the Director to call me ASAP.

- Any signal on the plane?
- Nothing.

Nothing from the transponder.
Nothing from Mills' phone.

I checked with the FAA;
No distress signals came in.

- It's like they just disappeared.
- Well, they didn't.

Probably just set down over
northern West Virginia.

Unless, of course, there was a bomb.

I'm sure that... I mean,
I'm sure it wasn't a bomb.

I'll... I'll keep... I'll keep digging.

Okay, I need... I need more
information on Graham.

I want you to dig up everything you can.

- All right.
- And coordinate with Santana.

She's on her way to the area.

Yeah.

It's serious "Deliverance"
country out here, man.

Actually, that was Georgia. Technically.

Okay, so you're about 40 miles east

of where we lost contact.

I can barely see 40
feet into these woods.

Might have better luck asking

the locals if they've seen anything.

Assuming anyone lives out here.

Okay, just be wary of banjos.

Easy!

- I'm not gonna hurt you.
- Get back!

Easy. You're in shock.

Stay calm. Calm.

What happened to the plane?

We were taken down by a drone.

We're the only survivors.

Taken down?

So they did find out.

Who are they?

I think they just showed up.

Okay, I went complete stalker on

Graham, and this is what I found.

He's totally clean, he's been a tenured

university professor for
the last three years.

Got no money problems,
aside from the fact

that he spends what he
makes, like most of America.

No criminal record.

- So nothing we didn't already know.
- Yeah, but then I had Hojna

cross reference every government

database and I found this.

- He's got an FBI file?
- An L5Confidential file.

Can you get past their firewall?

Well, yeah. I mean, "can" isn't
really the issue. It's just more

a matter of leaving a trace which
would lead back here probably.

Do it. I'll deal with the blowback.

I was hoping you'd say that.

What's he doing?

Waiting. For us to make a mistake.

The barrel's wrecked.

No ID.

But judging by the Kevlar,
hardware, and training,

I'd say he was a soldier.

Maybe special forces.

His name's McNeil.

You know this guy?

I think it's about time you
tell me who the hell you are.

We're in.

Before lecturing on the Middle East,

he was serving in it as a
private military contractor.

The professor was a mercenary?

Looks like he was part of a team.

He was part of a PMC
team I was on in Iraq.

I was a geographical analyst.

I saw some bad things go down.

Yeah? How bad?

Doesn't get much worse.

That's why I was headed to D.C.

To tell them what I saw.

So you aren't just a prisoner?

You're a witness.

Against your former team.

How many more men were on that team?

Three.

If this guy found us, it means

the others can't be far behind.

Move.

Dad?

Dad, where are you?

We're lost.

Any idea where we're heading?

West.

Figured a geographer would know that.

I'm a cultural geographer.

Helped identify and navigate tribes

in the Iraqi countryside.

- Dangerous work environment.
- Pay's good, though.

What did the wife think of the job?

She didn't. If I'd told her,
she'd never let me go.

Gotta love the irony.

So what happened?

It was during the Iraqi Civil War.

We were there providing
security for local villages.

And most of the PMCs I
worked with were good men.

You're saying "most."

Some people were there for

less honorable reasons.

The last team I was on...

We went out to this liberated village,

they swept it.

Didn't find any insurgents,
but they found a chest

full of American money.

One of Saddam's hidden cash stashes.

Our team leader, Hicks,

decided to keep it.

When we were leaving, an Iraqi boy,

about 12 or 13, saw us.

And Hicks told him to get lost,
but the boy didn't move.

Other villagers came. Started yelling.

Hicks got fed up and just...

Opened fire.

Then all hell broke loose,

and by the time it was done,

the boy and 18 villagers were dead.

Hicks and his team then warned
me not to say anything.

Said if I did, they'd come
after me and my family.

My God. My family!

They're not going after them.

They're coming after you. Come on.

Turns out Graham was on his way to D.C.

to testify in a joint
USiraqi investigation

into the killing of
some Iraqi civilians.

- Where'd you get this?
- The Director.

I told him I needed to know.

- What's the status of the plane?
- Nothing yet.

But the weird part is, is that I've been

monitoring wireless towers in the area

for any signal from
devices on the plane.

- Phones, tablets, transponders.
- Find anything?

No, not a blip.

How's that possible?

It's not, unless the plane disappeared

into some previously undiscovered lake,

or something knocked
out its electronics.

What, do you mean like an EMP?

I mean, the tech exists.

That means someone took the plane down.

Stay on it. I'm gonna see if
I can get more information

about this team Graham was a part of.

- Christina.
- David.

It's nice to finally put a
face to the reputation.

Likewise. Thank you for meeting

me on such short notice.

One of the perks of
owning the company...

I get to leave when I want.

So is this about your new shakeup?

Word travels fast.

The military contracting
community's a small world.

- Welcome to it.
- Thank you.

So how can I help?

I'm looking for information on a man who

worked for you a few
years ago. Paul Graham.

I can't say I remember,
but I've used a lot

of contractors over the years.
What about him?

Well, he was on his way to testify

in an investigation;

A massacre of Iraqi civilians.

- He was involved in this?
- Apparently.

Along with the rest of his PMC team.

But the plane carrying him disappeared.

With my man on board.

Damn. I'm sorry to hear it.

This is the rest of his team.

Do you recognize any of them?

- This guy.
- Hicks?

What do you know about him?

Yeah, I used him a couple times.

He was a bad apple. Unreliable.

And he had a few scrapes
with the local Iraqi police.

Kind of guy who gives
contractors a bad name.

Should have never hired him.

Do you think Hicks would go so

far as to take down a plane?

If it was carrying a guy who
could put him away for murder,

I wouldn't put it past him.

Wait, wh... Why go this way?

That river.

If we follow it, it'll
lead us somewhere.

Okay, but how do we get down this?

Carefully.

Take a hold of my arm.

Small steps. Hey!

Heel first. And keep your weight back.

And don't cross your feet.

Whoa!

Graham!

Are you all right?

My leg.

I think it's broken.

Come on. I got you.

Hey. Just fireworks?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

- Stop right there.
- Easy, easy.

I thought I heard gunfire.

What do you want?

I'm looking for a plane

that might have gone
down in these woods.

- Have you seen anybody?
- Just you.

Ain't nobody out here but us.

How about you?

Did you see anybody?

Just some hunters when
I was out shooting squirrels.

Hunters? How many?

- Three.
- What'd they look like?

I guess kind of like soldiers,

what with their gear and all.

- Did they say what they were hunting?
- Nope.

They were headed into the wildwood.

Wildwood?

Deepest part of the woods.

Nobody goes in there.

Too easy to get lost
and never make it out.

- Disappeared?
- I'm sorry, Mrs. Graham.

My God.

We are actively searching for

the plane and any survivors.

Did Paul tell you where he was going?

To an education conference in Boston.

He wasn't going to Boston.

He was on his way to Washington D.C.

to testify in an investigation.

I don't know why I'm surprised.

The way he's been lately,

he's just grown more isolated.

He hasn't been sleeping.

He lashes out at me and our son.

Did he ever talk to you
about his time in Iraq

as a military contractor?

Paul's never been to Iraq.

I see.

You apparently know more
about my husband than I do.

I'm sorry.

Have you noticed anything
out of the ordinary?

Any strange phone calls or occurrences?

There was a man in a car on our street.

Was this the man?

No, I'm pretty sure he was white.

Thank you, Mrs. Graham.

Wait.

- What is this about?
- I'm sorry, I can't discuss it.

Are you married, Miss Hart?

No.

Well, if you were, you'd understand.

The worst part of this
is the not knowing.

I may not be married,

but I do understand.

Someone important to me was also on

that plane, and I can tell you this.

If they're still alive,
there is no better person

for your husband to be with right now.

You're not gonna get far on
that leg without a splint.

It doesn't matter.

I'm not getting out of this alive.

Not with that attitude, you won't.

I took the money.

What?

After we got back to the village,

Hicks told me

not to talk or he'd come
after me and my family.

And then he offered me the money.

How much?

$50,000.

It was blood money.
I should have refused,

but I needed it.

Not a day went by that
I didn't regret it.

Every time I looked at my son,

I would see that boy that Hicks killed.

I couldn't tell him what happened.

I got to the point where I
couldn't tell him anything.

Not that he would have heard me, anyway.

I thought that by testifying, I...

I could start to make things right

for those people who died,

and for my family.

But all I did is get more people killed.

It's probably better this way.

At least my son won't know what I did.

No.

He has to know.

And you have to be around
to help him understand

that you don't give up.

Even when things seem
hopeless, you see it through.

And he'll be stronger for it someday.

You can trust me on that.

A son needs his father.

And you need him.

Well, even if you're right,

we're outnumbered and outgunned.

We haven't been outsmarted.

You stay here.

Well, if I stay here, they'll find me.

I'm counting on it.

Greetings, friend.

What brings you out to these parts?

Just hiking.

Well, dangerous country
to be hiking alone.

Tell me about it.

I'll be sure to bring a buddy next time.

Pretty sure you already
got one of those.

Paul Graham.

Who?

Now, I am gonna find
Graham sooner or later.

Only question is whether you give

me a reason to keep you alive.

So who you working for?

'Cause you sure as
hell ain't no marshal.

The way you got over on
McNeil, I'm guessing SpecOps.

I figured.

It's like they say,

talent recognizes talent.

All I recognize is a man
who sells his talent

- to the highest bidder.
- More than that.

I provide security in an insecure world.

By security, you mean the
killing of innocent civilians

and U.S. citizens?

I won't be a part of it.

I'm not going any further.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to insist.

Go!

Drop it!

I won't ask again.

You don't have to do this.

You know, Graham was just
trying to do the right thing.

No, the right thing
would have been for him

to take the money and
keep his mouth shut.

Move.

Now!

Kill it!

It worked.

For now.

Saw this wildlife camera had a sim chip.

That means it can be accessed remotely

over a wireless network.

If I can just power it up,
it may be able to send

a digital distress call.

To who?

Some friends who are
hopefully looking for us.

Well, hello.

- Yeah?
- I may have found something here.

There's a signal pinging a cell tower

out there in a really specific pattern.

If I remember my Morse,
I think it's an S.O.S. call.

Well, that's gotta be Mills. Where?

Well, the tower's near you,
but there's a fivemile

radius where the signal
could be coming from.

Needle in a slightly smaller haystack.

There's gotta be some
way to get to them.

Maybe instead of us trying to find.

Mills, we can help him find us.

I swear to God, boy.

Hey, boys.

You again. Back with more questions?

No, but I am gonna need
a couple things from you.

Those fireworks, for starters.

How about a trade?

With those, you'll see anyone

within 1,000 feet of your property.

Not to mention every
squirrel in the county.

Whoa. Yeah, okay.

Yeah, but hang on,

'cause I'm gonna need
something else too.

What's that?

I guess your signal didn't work.

Don't know. We gotta keep moving.

Who the hell's setting
off fireworks out here?

I got a pretty good idea.

Go big or go home.

Time to go.

Hicks!

Over here!

Cut me loose!

They couldn't have gotten far.

Gimme that.

We have to keep going.

I can't.

That's enough, Bryan.

It's okay. You're okay.

You did it.

Did it?

You left me out here alone?

You were never alone.

Okay. I needed to know
that you could do it.

Do what you had to do

to survive.

More importantly, you needed
to know you could do it.

And you did.

I'm proud of you.

Let's go home, son.

Listen to me.

You are stronger than you know.

Do you wanna see your
family again or not?

- We made it.
- Not yet, we haven't.

Look out!

Get down!

Need a ride?

Let's go!

Get in.

It's Hicks!

You got anything stronger
than a skyrocket?

Go!

I should have told you
everything, sweetheart.

And I will. I promise.

Is Jamie there?

Hey, buddy.

No, no, it's just...

It's just really good
to hear your voice.

Thanks for being the search party.

You tell the boss about
Hicks and his boys?

Yeah.

She put a call into the FBI.

They'll track them down.

How'd you know it was me? The fireworks?

I figured a flare would
have been too subtle.

No half measures, right?

You're damn straight.

Do we have orders?

- Sir.
- I heard you hit a snag.

He had an operator with him.

It's okay.

It happens. Sometimes
missions go sideways.

It just means we have
to adapt and overcome.

Yes, sir.

But not for you.

You're relieved of duty.

I heard Graham survived the crash

and an attempt on his life.

No doubt thanks to your man.

Must be a hell of an operator.

He is.

I'd like to meet him someday.

You might.

I also assume you heard that Hicks and

the rest of his team were found dead.

Your man's handiwork?

No.

Unlike some, I don't employ murderers.

Someone had been
watching Graham's house.

I thought it was Hicks.

Turned out to be a guy named Morris.

That same car passed through
a West Virginia toll booth

the same night Hicks and
his men were killed.

I'm not sure why you think
this is relevant to me.

Maybe because you and Morris

were on the same Ranger squad

years ago, and we both know

how tight those teams can be.

When Hicks' team killed
those civilians, they were

under a Black Falls contract...
Your company.

I'm guessing you found
out about the massacre

and had Hicks cover
it up just to protect.

Black Falls' bottom line,

but then Graham decided to talk.

So you sent Hicks to silence him.

And after that failed,
Morris to silence Hicks.

Because if everybody who could

tie you to the cover up was dead,

then no one can be flipped
to testify against you.

You know you're not part
of the government anymore.

You're in my world now.

And out here, the rules are different.

I'd really prefer if we could
remain friendly competitors.

I'm sure I'll be seeing you around.

So he just gets to walk away?

This time.

What about Graham's testimony?

It's not enough. Without Hicks,

Ramsey has plausible deniability.

- And Graham still goes to prison.
- Yes.

But with a reduced
sentence for cooperating.

He'll be all right.

His family will get him through it.

Speaking of which, have you given any

thought about what to tell yours?

I haven't had much of a chance.

Well, whatever you decide,

know that our jobs will
always involve risk.

But pushing people away doesn't

always help protect them.

Ultimately, it just leaves you alone.

Hello?

Dad.

Bryan.

It's good to hear from you.

I wanted to come to see
you and Mom, but,

my job has been...

Yeah, I know.

How are you?

I'm okay.

That's why I called.

I wanted you to know.

I'm okay, Dad.

Thanks.

Thanks, son.

Talk to you soon.
