Supergirl (2015–…): Season 6, Episode 1 - Rebirth - full transcript

Team Supergirl splits up to stop Lex's plan to make half the population adore him, and kill the other half. Lena has to discover if Supergirl will trust her after Lena joined forces with her stepbrother. Brainiac-5 apologizes to Dreamer for turning against her and the others, and J'onn fears that the mental binding ritual necessary to stop Lex's satellites may reveal his subconscious thoughts and disrupt the process.

[Kara] Previously on
Supergirl...

[female Brainy] If you're gonna
save your world,

you have to work with Lex Luthor.

You must give up everyone
that you hold dear.

Lex Luthor has rushed
32 satellites into space.

[J'onn J'onzz] Lex and Leviathan
are planning something

using Obsidian's virtual
reality platform.

And my tech likely made that possible.

I am a god. You are nothing.
Do you understand?

[Lena] I thought it was forbidden
to use Myriad.

What I'm doing is finding people
your brother disappeared.

Humanity can't be fixed.
They need to be controlled.

I wanna help stop Lex and Leviathan.

[Supergirl] Wow!

This is amazing!

[Brainy] Rather than kill the gods,
I'll shrink them.

[Lex] You gave me exactly what I needed.
I'm just going to kill Supergirl myself.

It's Brainy. He needs my help.

[Brainy panting]

[gagging]

[groans]

Guys, I think I'm close
to finding Brainy.

I've dropped a pin at my location.
Just hope I'm not too late.

Brainy!

- Nia.
- Let me in.

Can't.

Yes, you can. There's a panel.
You can get it.

- Radiation...
- I'm not gonna let you die.

Nia, you should hear this.

I had to work with Lex
to destroy Leviathan.

Pushing you away, hurting you...
It was to protect you.

[panting]

I love you.

No, you're not getting
off the hook that easily.

- You...
- You didn't die.

You cannot kill technology,

but technology can kill you.

No. Poison. Nia...

No!

[coughing]

- [J'onn J'onzz] Alex.
- I'll get Alex and Brainy out of here.

Where'd she go?

[yells]

[J'onn J'onzz] She's in the computer.

I've got them. You get back in there.

[grunts]

[Alex] This is Martian nanites
laced with potassium iodide.

It's gonna give your system
a chance to repair itself

now that you're out of that room.

But it's not gonna be fun.

[grunts]

[panting]

Gamemnae. I know how to stop her.
The Anti-Life Equation.

Leviathan were ancient aliens.

But Gamemnae's a technological being,

which is exactly what the Anti-Life
Equation was designed for.

What we need is a method

of uploading it
into that center console,

which has to be the ship's command hub.

Like this?

Yes. Brilliant.

[panting]

[electricity crackling]

[grunting]

[gasps]

Supergirl,
put this in the center console.

[Gamemnae screaming]

[building rumbling]

Everyone out now.

[theme music playing]

[automated female voice] The Leviathan
energy transfer has been initiated.

[device powering up]

Are you all right?

I'd say I'm more than all right.

[sighs]

- Now you're just showing off.
- Not yet.

To think you said you weren't
obsessed with the Kryptonians.

I told Lena that she had it right.
Aliens shouldn't be Earth's saviors.

The Luthors should. And now I will be.
Leviathan is gone.

Next, I'll get rid of the Kryptonian

and all her friends
and then the non-believers.

And once I've fixed this planet, I'll do
what the Anti-Monitor failed to do.

Fix every other planet in the universe.

Uh, while that sounds like a good plan,

please skip back to the part about

ridding this planet
of the non-believers.

Leviathan intended to use
Obsidian Platinum to kill people in VR.

Instead, I used Obsidian to upgrade
people's brains in perpetuity.

A little thing I like to call
"I love Lexie."

- That's very alliterative, dear.
- Thank you.

I knew that fixing this planet
would require big moves

that not everyone would appreciate.

So, I took advantage of Lena's delivery
system to make sure that everyone in VR

would always appreciate me,
no matter what I do.

And what about the people
who were not in VR?

The ones unenlightened
to the goodness that is my son?

The satellites I launched
during the Obsidian world tour

are armed with sonic weapons
poised to obliterate the minds

of anyone who didn't get
the "I love Lexie" upgrade.

My satellites will be aligned to beam
the kill frequency in about five hours.

I assume I will be safe without
being brainwashed to love you,

since I already do.

Of course, Mother. There's a special
doohickey with your name on it.

And your sister,
you can't kill her either.

Why not? She killed me first.

If you hurt your sister in any way,
I will turn on you,

and no amount of brainwashing
will stop me.

You'll be all alone,
save for the sycophants you detest.

Think of how tragic
your father's demise was.

Is that how you want to end up?

Save your sister.

I just got your signal.

- Where are Eve and the others?
- William took her and her mom to CatCo.

She agreed to go on the record,
tell him everything she knows about Lex.

Well, that's amazing.

But does William really think

any article about Lex
is gonna help right now?

How is that possible?
Everybody thinks Lex is a hero.

[Lena] I think it's worse than that.

The program I was developing

was supposed to expand the human mind,
to do no harm.

It was on the Obsidian platform,
but I think... I think Lex reworked it.

Rewiring the human mind
so that they adored Lex

when they were in the Unity Festival.

- That's half the world's population.
- What about the other half?

Eve told me about an experiment
that Lex did on two mice.

One had gold eyes and it adored him,
and the other...

Lex emitted some radiation

from a Q-wave antenna
onto it and it exploded.

I saw people's eyes flash gold
when they were coming out of the VR.

That's why he launched those satellites
during his world tour.

[gasps]

Dreamer, what'd you dream?

I saw Lex as the Anti-Monitor.

He was destroying
every planet in existence.

I've located Lex's satellites.
Twelve of them orbiting the Earth.

Each armed with Claymore cannons
to fire on hard targets

should any one of them be tampered with.

It would appear
the only way to shut them down

would be to shut them
all down at the same time.

But only four of us can fly.

Synchronizing our movements too
could prove impossible.

We could shut it down
with the Do-rkri Surth-Uh.

The what?

A Martian ritual,
which translates to "The Binding."

And you can use this on the satellites?

It would require M'gann and I to join
our minds, synchronize our thoughts.

We could create a web of psychic energy

that we could literally bind onto things
and move them in unison.

We can do it.

[Alex] Okay,
but even if you stop the satellites,

half the people out there are
still gonna be brainwashed by Lex.

Lena, if you had the code Lex used,
could you reverse it using Myriad?

Myriad? Yes. But...

- You'd trust me? Even after everything?
- You want to help people.

Whatever else has happened,
I know what's in your heart.

[Kelly] I will go to Obsidian,

download the server database
into a hard drive and get it to you.

[M'gann] Well, that solves two problems.

Now, if we only knew how to make Lex
mortal again. We need his Kryptonite.

Not Kryptonite. Jarhanpurium.

Fragments of that planet
must have made it to Earth.

It would be toxic to Lex,
just like Kryptonite is to Supergirl.

But finding it would be like
finding a needle in a haystack.

That's what my dream was about.

There was a green bottle,
Kryptonite green.

I could invert the energy in the bottle,

run it through the machine
I used to make Kryptonite...

Sprock. It could work.

The monument Supergirl was trapped in
on Shelley Island was also in my dream.

The bottle must be there.

It's the same energy station
Lex used last year on Earth-38.

- I'll go.
- No. You're still too weak.

- I'll go.
- And I'll go with you.

Brainy, you and Lena work on Myriad
and her Kryptonite machine

for when we bring you back that bottle.

I'll get Myriad from the Fortress.

There's got to be something there
we can use

to weaponize the Jarhanpurium.

That way we can strip Lex of his powers
and make him mortal again.

Let's not forget,
Lex still wants to kill us all.

And he has Leviathan powers,

which means he can sense us,
especially Supergirl.

He'll strike as soon
as we try to make a move.

We need another diversion.

I can buy you guys time
by offering myself up.

We're not gonna let you
do that, Supergirl. It's too risky.

If that's what it takes

to save half the population
and stop Lex,

I'm willing to take that risk.

Your sister is still MIA.
You shouldn't be celebrating.

You should be out there looking for her.

Can't, Mother.

If I calculated correctly,
we should be getting a call any moment.

- [computer chimes]
- Oh!

See?

Ah! The Maid of Might. What a surprise.

We know you've placed satellites
around the world, and when they sync up,

they'll send out a signal killing
everyone you haven't brainwashed.

- What do you want, a gold star?
- I want you to disable the satellites.

You do that, I'll give you
what you've always wanted.

What's that? And don't say hair.
That's low-hanging fruit.

Me.

Well, that is tempting.

I assume there's no strings attached.
No trap, no attempt to outwit me.

Or has the razzle-dazzle
of my immortality

made you forget
that I'm the smartest man alive?

Do you really think I'd fall
for something so prosaic?

I'm wearing a Truth Seeker,
and I think your obsession with me

outweighs your desire
to kill half the world.

I surrender.

Name the place and bring a way
to disable the satellites.

- Any place?
- As long as no civilians get hurt.

The Fortress. One hour.
I hear it's beautiful this time of year.

I'll send you the coordinates.

You aren't actually considering
going to the Fortress, are you?

Of course it's a trap.

No. I'm taking advantage
of an opportunity.

Supergirl hasn't seen new, improved me
in action yet. I will destroy her.

And while you're doing that, her friends
will be busy undoing all your hard work.

With Supergirl out of the way,
her friends will be easy targets.

And even if they're successful

at stopping my satellites,
I'm a god, Mother.

I'll have plenty of time
to fix what they mess up.

Oh, uh...

and silver lining.

If Supergirl's friends go behind my back
and take down my satellites,

you don't have to worry about Lena.

See? It is time to celebrate.

[computer chimes]

[crying]

Andrea, what happened?

My father, he...
he blames me for everything.

What do you mean?

[sniffles]

Leviathan hijacking our technology,
destroying our company.

He said I destroyed his legacy.

I'm so sorry.

I sacrificed everything for him.

I sold my soul
to make Obsidian North a success.

Once the market opens tomorrow,
I'll be bankrupt.

Not just Obsidian, but CatCo, too.

Your father is a selfish narcissist.

You are a brilliant woman who built
this place from sheer force of will.

The mistake was doing it for him.

Whoa, I haven't seen you
this tense since...

Well, since the last time the fate
of the world rested on our shoulders.

Redirecting those satellites
isn't as simple as melding minds.

To engage on that level
requires complete openness.

M'gann will see everything about me.

Memories of my daughter, my wife.

Every violent thought I've ever had
about White Martians.

She will know things about me
that I would never choose to share.

What if subconsciously
my apprehensions derail us?

We might not be able
to take those satellites offline.

I could kill both of us.

J'onn, you have been through
so much in your life.

War, loss, love.

You've had to face some hard truths.
But so has M'gann.

I... I know it's easier said than done,

but at the end of the day,
all you can really do is trust.

And who knows? Engaging like this,
being this open with M'gann,

it could lead to something
really beautiful.

I meant what I said before.

I truly am so sorry for everything.

You hurt me, Brainy. You abandoned us.

I know it was to save the world,

but what's the point of saving anything

if it means you have to hurt
the people who love you?

Yeah. You're right.

Take this. It's a loaner.
While I'm recovering.

[sighs] And the first step in trying
to make up for everything I've done.

Who knows? Might be of service.

With Obsidian North set to lose billions
with the misfire of their VR platform,

Bernardo Rojas made
a stunning public rebuke

of his daughter in an interview earlier.

[sighs]

There's a section of the armory

that's just artifacts
from the Andromeda galaxy.

The Jarhanpurian weaponry
should be in there.

Okay.

I may be able to reinforce
the anti-Luthor protocol.

It won't kill Lex now
that he's immortal,

but it might slow him down.

- Lena...
- Kara.

He's going to try and kill you,
all right?

I won't let you turn this
into a suicide mission. I can't.

We've got no other choice.
It's okay. I've come to terms with it.

As long as you guys stop the satellites
and help everyone with Myriad,

it will be worth it.

When Lex comes, you're gonna
want to take the higher path.

But you know him. He plays dirty, mean,
maximizing the pain wherever he can.

Well, I was stuck in the Phantom Zone

replaying the destruction of my planet
for nearly a decade. Bring it on.

- We should probably...
- Kara.

I know it wasn't easy to trust me again,
especially with Myriad.

You're the only person in the galaxy
I know would do right by it.

Come on.

I'm sorry, Father.

[sighs] I got the weapon.

I'll go get Myriad.

Oh, um, I'm gonna borrow
this portal watch.

I think it could come in handy.

Yeah, as long as you return it.

I always return the things
that I borrow.

Oh, yeah? Tell that to every graphic tee
I owned from junior high on.

[both laughing]

You know, it is... this is really nice
to see you working with Lena again.

Yeah.

Yeah. We've got a ways to go,
but it is nice.

- I love you.
- I love you.

- Always.
- Always.

- We have to go.
- Right.

[beeps]

[portal whooshes]

I will see you later. With this. Maybe.

[portal whooshes]

- Good luck, Kara.
- You too.

[sighs]

[sighs]

I am Kara Zor-El.

I'm entrusting a record
of all of my knowledge and experiences

into the crystals you see before you

in the hope that
they will bring guidance

to others whenever they need it,

now that I'm...

Now... now that I'm gone.

[clears throat]

This is my legacy download.
Audio-visual, volume one.

We have to make sure
that all the satellites

are in exact alignment
to start The Binding.

What's wrong?

You realize, after this, win or lose,
everything will be different between us.

Well, then we better make this count.

[keyboard clacking]

[portal whooshes]

How's it coming?

Kelly was able to access
Lex's code at Obsidian.

Thus far, it's been easy enough
to reverse-engineer,

but the sequencing, the control flow,

the way Lex was able to override
free will with a few keystrokes,

it's quite terrifying.

The code was my design.

- Are J'onn and M'gann in position?
- Affirmative.

[tablet beeping]

We're ready to trigger Myriad as soon as
they take down all the satellites.

Hopefully, Supergirl will keep Lex busy
long enough so we can stop him.

Lena, I...

I need you to know that I had no idea
that this was Lex's plan.

I thought that if...
if I was close to him,

I... I would be able to know
how and when to stop him.

But I... I didn't.

I was so worried
that by working with Lex

I was becoming the villain,

that I lost track of...
of what he was up to.

I thought that by doing this,
I would help save the world,

but look what it's done.

Brainy, you were willing to sacrifice
everything to save your friends.

On the other hand, I was the hypocrite
who believed that she had the answers

to all the world's problems.

It's the closest I've ever come to
seeing things through Lex's eyes.

Self-pity and blinding hubris
should be the Luthor family motto.

So if anyone's going to win
the culpability award,

I've got you by a landslide.

What do we do now?

Try and cope
with the mistakes of the past.

Appreciate that we have friends
who still believe in us.

[chuckles softly]

Now let's go save the world.

[automated male voice]
Volume one is complete.

Shall we move on
to volume two, Kara Zor-El?

[clapping]

Volume two?

I suppose brevity was never
in your arsenal of superpowers.

Did you bring it?

Behold my remote controller,
preloaded with the key codes

to deactivate every one
of my birds in the sky.

[Dreamer sighs]

Brainy's intel was spot on.
Let's find that bottle.

Hey, little guys. Uncle Otis is going
to protect you, no matter what.

Otis, hand over the bottle.

You didn't actually think I was gonna
give you the real keycodes, did you?

- No.
- Word of advice.

Next time you land
on somebody else's planet,

try one where the sun boosts
your brain and your brawn.

Oh, but I just remembered.
For you there won't be a next time.

[screaming]

The satellites are coming
into alignment.

[high-pitched ringing]

[M'gann] The signal.

[J'onn J'onzz yelling in pain]

It's the satellites.

[high-pitched ringing continues]

[Dreamer and Kelly groaning]

Aw, somebody got a little boo-boo
in their head?

[M'gann and J'onn J'onzz] No.

We are not giving up.

[ringing stops]

J'onn and M'gann must have
shut down the satellites.

Yeah. I'll activate Myriad
and restore normal brain functions.

[imperceptible]

[speaking Spanish]

I'm afraid we haven't time
for any last words, Dream Girl.

It's Dreamer.

Who's got the headache now?

[beep]

Here. Let's hope
we're not too late for Kara.

[beep]

- What?
- [Supergirl panting]

No pleading, no helpful pontification
about how I can change

and learn to be a better person

and blah-blah-blah?

That's your problem, Kara.
You, Leviathan. You're all the same.

Pushing an agenda,
trying to make humanity bend in ways

that it just doesn't want to.

Like you tried to bend Lena,
pitting her against me?

You're a man with alien DNA
coursing through him,

thinking he knows
what's best for this world.

[chuckles]

Sound familiar?

Sounds like someone willing to do
whatever it takes to save humanity.

[screaming]

I've paid my dues time after time

I've done my sentence
But committed no crime

And bad mistakes

I've made a few

I have had my share of sand
Kicked in my face, but I've come through

And we mean to go on
And on and on and on

We are the champions, my friends

[imitates crowd cheering]

And we'll keep on fighting...

[record scratching]

[J'onn J'onzz] Lex Luthor.

Well, if you're here
to save the Girl of Steel,

you're one glam rock hit too late.

Are we?

- How?
- You're predictable.

You can thank your sister
for proving that.

You still think you can beat me?
I'm invincible.

Not if we have anything to say about it.

Welcome to mortality, Lex.

Oh, that's just embarrassing.

[all grunting]

I didn't think this day
could get any better.

[groans]

A Phantom Zone projector.

No!

[screaming]

[Alex] Kara, no.

I won.

Careful. I bruise easily.
I'm not immortal anymore, remember?

Brainy, what's taking so long
with that projector?

The data has been wiped.

I don't know if it's recoverable.
And the projector itself...

No, we don't need it.

I'll just open a transmat portal
like I did during Crisis.

No, no, no. Even if that were to work,

without the coordinates
of where he sent her,

she could be anywhere
in the Phantom Zone.

Guys, I found recording crystals.

Ah, yes. [sighs] When I arrived,

she was in the middle of a missive,
sort of a, uh, last will and testament.

Very dry. You're lucky
I cut her off when I did.

No, no, no, no.
We are not watching those

'cause Kara is not dead.

We are bringing her home.

And you are going to wish
that you were dead

while you are rotting in that cell.

Mm. About that...
I'm not going anywhere near a cell.

Unless you want me to reveal
Supergirl's identity.

She may be gone, but she still has
an awful lot of enemies out there.

It would be tragic if Mama Danvers
or your lovely Kelly Olsen

were to become the target
of one of... [grunts]

- Sorry. Did you want to do that?
- No. Uh, family first.

[J'onn J'onzz] M'gann and I will
take him to the authorities.

Then I'll go and speak
to my brother, Mal.

He spent time in the Phantom Zone.

He may be able to help us locate her.

What am I gonna do with Kelly?
I mean, how...

how am I supposed to explain all this?

Kelly doesn't know
that Kara's Supergirl?

[news anchor] Lex Luthor
has been arrested

in what sources are calling
a plot against the world.

I can't believe it.
Lex Luthor a bad guy?

Believe it, Mackenzie.

Lucky for us, our very own William Dey
has the inside scoop.

This firsthand account
Eve Tessmacher gave you,

it's going to earn CatCo
another Pulitzer.

You mean we're still in business
after what happened with Obsidian?

Sadly, Obsidian North has folded.
But that is my father's problem.

He bought all my shares right before
the company crashed this morning.

I realize, in retrospect,
I was undervaluing CatCo.

We could be a beacon, a crown jewel
of investigative journalism.

We certainly have the talent.
And reporting in-depth, real news,

we can change hearts and minds.

We'll start our relaunch

with unparalleled news coverage
on Lex Luthor,

thanks to William.

Well, it wasn't just me, Andrea.
That story has a shared byline.

Kara Danvers.

She's been with me following every lead
on Lex since I got to National City.

Oh. Well, where is Miss Danvers?
I'd like to thank her.

She's with Cat Grant on a story.

She said it was supposed to be
the biggest of her life.

- Kara left town?
- I guess when Cat says jump, you jump.

[Andrea] Well, since Kara
is exclusive to CatCo,

whatever story Cat's pulled her away
to do will be our front page soon.

Let's hope it's a doozy.

Tick tock. Everyone back to work.
We've got a paper to put out.

Nia, did you speak to Kara yourself?

I just can't believe
she left without telling me.

Alex told me.

I'm sure she would have called you
if she could have, William.

I want it on the record
that I'm resisting the urge

to say I told you your obsession

with the Kryptonians
would end like this.

I'm glad you held your tongue, Mother.

Lena?

I, um...

I think this belongs to you.
Came in handy. Thanks.

I should have protected Kara.

I failed.

- I failed everyone.
- You didn't fail, Brainy.

- You defeated Leviathan.
- Supergirl is gone. Lex Luthor lives.

I should've let the other
Brainiac-5's take on Leviathan

because clearly, I was
too stupid to get it right...

Brainy, stop.

You are not stupid.

You were put in a no-win situation
and you did the best you could.

I hurt you.

That was not the best.

You did.

But I still care about you.

How can you be so kind after...
after everything?

- It's not logical.
- The heart isn't logical.

When we thought you were dying
on the Leviathan ship,

you said that you loved me.
If that's still true...

and you want to fix us,

you need to start
engaging with me honestly.

No matter what, even if you think
you're protecting me,

because, Brainy, I am not a woman
who needs to be protected.

Of course.

You're a woman who stops tidal waves...

and who dreams impossible things.

And loves you too.

No more secrets?

I promise.

Hey, did Malefic have any advice
about getting her back?

Unfortunately not.

He was only able to find Midnight
in the Phantom Zone

because he knew her exact location.

He did tell me about someone who once
mounted a rescue mission there, though.

- We need to get to them. Now.
- M'gann's already looking for him.

J'onn, I need my sister.

Hey, the people out there...
Nia covered for her at CatCo.

But everyone else, they need to know
that she's still around,

that she's protecting people.

You are not your sister.
But you're every part a hero as she is.

I've seen that every day
I've spent with you.

And I saw it today
when you summoned the strength

and belief in yourself
to take down Lex Luthor.

In fact, you remind me of a colleague
I once had on Mars called N'orr Cott.

We were a team.

Every time I put criminals away,
she would always stand guard

in case of a surprise escape
or an ambush.

She had patience, courage
and commitment, just like you.

We called her Sentinel.

I want to show you something.

This was her symbol.

And now I think it should be yours.

Sentinel.

I like that.

We will get her back.

Until then, together,
we will keep this city safe.

Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt.

It's okay.

I came to return Myriad for you
to safeguard it till Kara gets back.

I have to admit, though,
I did use it one last time tonight.

On Lex and my mother
and everyone associated with them.

I wiped their minds of Supergirl's
identity to protect you all.

I understand now why

keeping Kara's secret
was meant to keep me safe.

But, Alex,
you really need to tell Kelly.

She's your person and you're gonna need
someone to talk to through all of this.

If you don't, you'll just end up
walling yourself off,

and trust me,
that won't do you any good.

Lena's right.
Kara would want you to tell her.

We will get her back.

[clamor]

[creatures growling]

[theme music playing]
