Sugar Rush Christmas (2019–…): Season 2, Episode 1 - A Sugar Rush Christmas - full transcript

Bakers race against the clock in three Charlie Brown themed baking challenges. Adam Rippon guest judges.

This is Sugar Rush Christmas!

The baking competition where
time is the most important ingredient.

Four teams of brilliant bakers
battle it out for sugary success

over three rounds of competition,

-racing against each other and the clock.
-[chimes]

The faster they work, the better, because
any time saved in round one, cupcakes,

and round two, confections,

will be banked and added
to their third and final round, cakes.

I'm your host, Hunter March,

and determining which of these teams
is going home

with the $10,000 prize in their stockings
is our cheery panel of judges.

She's the Lucy to my Charlie Brown,

creator of the world's first
cupcake-only bakery,

it's Candace Nelson.

And good grief, he's a good man!

That's right, it's celebrated
Australian pastry chef Adriano Zumbo.

We're gathered here
in the Sugar Rush Christmaskitchen

with the entire Peanutsgang,

and our bakers are learning
the true meaning of the holidays

as they compete in three
Charlie Brown Christmasthemed challenges.

Also joining us,

Olympic figure skating medalist
and TV host Adam Rippon.

Candace and Adriano are inside

presenting the first two rounds
of our Charlie Brown themed challenges.

-[chiming]
-Aaargh!

[laughing] That sound means
that competition has just begun.

Sue and Gary, good luck.

No safety blankets today
in the Sugar Rushkitchen.

Melissa, Joyce,
welcome to the Peanut gang.

And speaking of my Peanutsgang,
hello, judges.

-[both] Hello, Hunter.
-[Adam] Hi, Hunter.

How's it going, Candace, Adriano,
and Adam Rippon?

Merry Christmas, by the way.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas.

Feeling jolly.

Feeling jolly, especially today, because
today is a Charlie Brown Christmas.

-The gang's all here.
-So cute.

Candace, why don't you walk us through
what round one looks like for our bakers?

Well, Christmas time, as we know,
is so much better with friends.

So we want our bakers today to create
cupcakes inspired by the Peanutsgang.

And they have
so many characters to choose from.

We have the lovable Charlie Brown,

we have our regal beagle Snoopy,

we have the highly opinionated Lucy...

Don't look at me as if I'm Lucy.
That's you.

[Candace laughs]

Let's think about the character.
What character... You know what?

-Pig-Pen.
-Yeah.

We should definitely do a peanut
buttercream in ode to the Peanut gang.

We gotta make it look really messy.

-So we have...
-Let's make it look crazy,

like the big cloud that's around Pig-Pen.

-We have to do that.
-Exactly.

-I met Sheyna...
-[laughs]

...when she came home
from the hospital.

Let's do this. All right, let's go.

She's my older sister.
Can't get rid of her.

You okay over there, Sheyn?

Yeah, I'm like Rachael Ray.
I got everything in my hand.

-We're from Brooklyn.
-Hey.

[Shari] We have a home-based
baking business, it's called Shey Ni Chez.

She's the baker, I'm the designer.

We know each other's strengths
and weaknesses,

-so we play off that.
-I have more strengths than weaknesses.

Mm-hm!

I think I'll cut up
the strawberries from now,

-let it sit in the sugar.
-I'll use the dark chocolate, okay?

-Yeah.
-[Shari] Pig-Pen reminds us of our kids.

We love them,
but they're messy and they know it.

[Sheyna] Make sure it's thick enough
so it holds up, okay, Shari?

But not too thick.

[Sheyna] We are making
a strawberry-flavored cake

layered with fresh peanut butter
Swiss meringue buttercream

and fresh strawberries in a chocolate cup.

We do wanna give the judges
something that they've never seen before.

And we want to bank an hour
for the cake round.

-[Sheyna] Okay, I'm goin' in.
-[Shari] Don't forget your timer.

-All right, so, what are we doin'?
-Um... Charlie cupcake?

-Gotta do Charlie.
-Okay.

Let's represent, like, his colors in it.

-Yes. I love that.
-Yellow, peanut butter.

Oh! And let's make his sister.

-She should be a mini.
-Yes.

-I'm Romel.
-And I'm Desiree.

And we are cake artists
at Sweet E's Bake Shop in Los Angeles.

Gonna make a mess right now.

We're taking on the challenge
of making two different flavored cupcakes

because we really wanted to come hard
this first round.

-Plus, two is better than one.
-Yeah.

[Romel] Got a beautiful batter
with no lumps.

Charlie Brown is a chocolate cake

with a roasted peanut
chocolate ganache filling,

a peanut butter frosting,

and a peanut brittle bark.

And for the Sally cupcake,
we're doing a peanut butter tres leches

filled with a strawberry compote,

topped with a peanut butter
honey Swiss buttercream.

I'm gonna put in 12 cupcakes
to make sure we have some extra ones.

I'm gonna do the same with the minis.

-[Romel] I don't want no problems.
-[laughs] No goin' back.

[Romel] Cupcakes goin' in the oven.

-What do you think we should do?
-Let's do Lucy.

Remember the scene where they threw
snowballs at the can on the wall?

So let's do a snowball cupcake
completely encased in icing.

Gary and I met 43 years ago.

It was love at first sight.

Two weeks after we met,
I asked her to marry me.

[Sue] And we're still in love
all these years later.

Gary, you gotta stir this.

We own Capital City Cakes in central Ohio.

[Gary] Our motto at our bakery is,
"If you can dream it, we can do it."

Okay, 14 ounces.

We chose Lucy because
she is in love with Schroeder,

just like I'm in love with Gary.

-How's it goin', Sue?
-Good.

[Gary] Yeah, this is simmerin' real nice.

I smell it, it smells amazing.

Good job, baby.

We're making a vanilla bean
snowball cupcake

with a raspberry-cranberry filling,

topped with a Swiss meringue buttercream

and a secret surprise
buckeye candy inside.

Got the buckeyes in,
and they're lookin' good.

[Sue] Smells good.

Buckeyes are peanut butter,
powdered sugar, vanilla.

We roll up the little balls

and dip each one of the buckeyes
in chocolate.

[Gary] Whew! These buckeyes smell amazing.

[Sue] Goin' in.

When I think of Charlie Brown
and Peanutsgang...

-Snoopy?
-...I think of Snoopy.

-Oh, you do? Okay.
-Yeah.

All right, so I can probably bust out
a couple of, like, Snoopy toppers.

-Like, 3D.
-Yeah. Okay.

Maybe we can make, like,
his dog food bowl?

-Yeah.
-Yeah, okay.

My name is Melissa.

I am from the Bronx, New York,
and I am a freelance cake artist.

I'm Joyce, I'm from Brooklyn, New York,
and I'm also a cake artist.

-We are the 718 girls.
-Yeah.

[both laugh]

[Melissa] I met Joyce
at a bakers' brunch event,

and I just knew
that I had to be her friend.

-Oh, yeah!
-We've been in touch ever since.

They look so cute! I like that lineup.

Little headless Snoopys.

[Joyce] For our Peanuts character cupcake,
it's all about Snoopy,

so we're making a vanilla bean cupcake

filled with fresh strawberry jam

and peanut butter buttercream.

Like a delicious PB and J.

[Joyce] I'm kind of, like, drawing it in,
like the cartoon.

[Melissa] I wanna bake a few extra.

-Two hours and 40 minutes left, bakers.
-[Adam] Ooh!

My heart's, like, racing right now.

-Time goes by so quickly.
-I know! I know, I know, I know.

[Sue] This is feeling good.
The temperature's gettin' up.

Okay, judges and bakers,

I have a special guest
I would like to introduce you to.

Please meet my best friend,
and also man's best friend.

-[cheering and clapping]
-Snoopy, yay!

So cute.

Who doesn't love Charlie Brown,
who doesn't love Snoopy?

One Christmas,

I don't know if you remember this,
but I got a Snoopy Icee machine.

-Oh, yeah. [chuckles]
-It was so, so cute.

-Hi!
-Hi! [laughs]

Hi.

-[Hunter] Snoopy...
-Hi.

-My dog keeps running away. All right.
-Oh!

Snoopy's hungry right now,

and he really wants to know
what you're making.

We're making some
peanut butter and jelly cupcakes.

-Nice.
-And little sugar Snoopys to go on top.

-Snoopy, don't be... don't be upset by this.
-[Joyce laughs] Oh!

But this is you if you didn't have a head.

-No! [laughing]
-I know! It's not...

-It's just not done.
-I am so sorry.

I know, I know.

We're making it
'cause you're our favorite.

Isn't that flattering?

-It is flattering. Okay.
-Okay.

-Thank you, bakers.
-Thank you.

How's it goin', bakers?

-Hi, guys.
-Hi, Snoopy.

Who's the character?
Because Snoopy would love it to be Snoopy.

Unfortunately it's not Snoopy,
it's actually Pig-Pen.

-You like Pig-Pen! We're into Pig-Pen.
-Yeah! Oh, awesome!

-Yeah.
-So what is that there?

[Sheyna] So this is gonna be his hair
that we're gonna top on the cupcake.

-I'm lookin' forward to it. Good luck.
-Yeah.

-[both] Thank you.
-Goodbye, Snoopy!

-Everyone say, "Goodbye, Snoopy."
-[Sheyna] Bye!

-[Gary] Bye!
-[Sue] Bye!

-I'm starting the peanut butter brittle.
-[Romel] Love it.

Making peanut butter brittle,
it's very temperamental.

-Smells like it's burning.
-[Romel] Take it off.

This isn't even at candy temp yet.

-It's fine, just roll with it.
-Okay.

This brittle just smells
like it's about to burn,

so I'm just gonna take it off
and hope for the best.

[Romel] Spread it out nice and thin, yeah?

[Desiree] Yeah.

-[Shari] This chocolate is thick.
-[Sheyna] Whew! This is gonna take time.

The hardest part of this challenge,
honestly, would be the cups.

It is not really easy
to remove the liners.

[Sheyna] Oh!

-[Shari] Use this one.
-Okay.

[Sheyna] You wanna give the judges
a perfect chocolate cup.

Ooh! [gasps] Oh!

-Aah!
-[Shari] Yes.

You got your buttercream
in your piping bag?

So, Adam, I am curious.
Uh, when did you start ice skating?

-I wanna know a bit about your story.
-I started skating when I was ten.

-That's kind of late, isn't it?
-Yeah, I know!

-Oh, my God, way to pick it up right away.
-It's a lot... Just had a knack for it.

-Only took 20 years to get it together.
-[laughter]

-[Romel] Look at these cupcakes!
-[Desiree] Whoo!

[Sue] How we doin'?

[Gary] We wanted to be done
two minutes ago.

[Sue] In order to add the butter in,

you have to cool the meringue down
to room temperature.

But our meringue isn't
cooling down quickly enough.

Hey, Gary, can you get me a bowl of ice?

-[Gary] Yeah.
-I got it.

So we improvise by putting ice in plastic
bags and putting it around the bowl.

[Gary] But it's not cooling down
as fast as we thought it would.

[Sue] Just start adding it,
we gotta hurry.

[Melissa] Wanna try it?

Yeah?

We gotta hurry up,
they're already frosting.

[Desiree] Is there anything else
that we're missing element-wise?

I got... I got both chocolates ready
for them to dip.

[Romel] I'm dipping the cupcakes
in chocolate,

and dying the chocolate
two different colors,

yellow for Charlie Brown
and pink for Sally.

[Desiree] We could fill it
and throw it in the fridge again,

because I think just the buttercream,

we're just waiting for that
to come together.

-I'm gonna go get the hair.
-Okay.

-[Shari] Ready?
-[Sheyna] Yes.

-[bells jingle]
-Sheyna and Sheri, first ones buzzed.

Let's go try our first cupcake.

Who hit their buzzer?

Oh, God, they already
dinged their bell-zzer.

[Hunter] Hi, Sheyna. Hi, Shari.

-[both] Hi.
-[Candace] Hi!

-Aww.
-[Hunter] First ones to buzz in.

-Yes.
-We are very excited.

Tell us about your cupcakes,
what you made, the design.

Pig-Pen is so cute, and he has
all this dirt and dust around him,

just like our boys,
so we decided to use him.

So here we have our strawberry
and peanut butter chocolate cupcake,

with peanut butter, fresh strawberries,
and peanut butter buttercream on top.

Look at this cup! It's incredible.

[Shari] We tempered the chocolate.

-Wow.
-I love it.

-You tempered the chocolate.
-[both] Yes!

Okay. Well, judges,
what are your thoughts? Adriano?

Amazing cupcake.

The chocolate cup's genius.
You took that bit of extra effort.

That peanut butter frosting is delicious,
it's like silk, so light,

the strawberries bring a bit of freshness,
and it's delightful to eat.

You make me smile
with the Pig-Pen reference.

-I have two boys at home as well.
-[Shari] Ah!

And they are absolutely
a couple of Pig-Pens.

-Yes.
-See?

But this cupcake was anything but a mess.

-This cupcake was pure perfection.
-[both] Aww!

[Candace] The textures, the flavors,
everything was so balanced.

Really great job.

I don't think I've ever eaten
something that was, like, so light...

-[Shari and Sheyna] Mm-hm.
-...but so flavorful at the same time.

-Aww!
-Thank you.

Adriano, remind our bakers
what they're working on in round two.

We wanna see next-level brownies.

Something Charlie Brown-y,
something extravagant.

-Got it. Got it.
-We got it.

-Thank you! Judges.
-[both] Thank you!

-Great job, guys.
-Let's head back to the judges' table.

What if we do, like, a blondie?
Or maybe a half brownie, half blondie?

-Make it...
-Let's serve it with ice cream.

-Brownie and ice cream go great together.
-Oh!

And let's make it rum popo flavored,

-in ode to our...
-Yes!

-Christmas, you know?
-All right.

[Desiree] Oh, you're dotting
the Sally cupcakes?

-[Romel] Yep.
-[Desiree] Cute.

Looks just like her dress.

Okay. I'm about to plate.

[Gary] Go. Git 'er done.

Right now, we are gettin' very nervous.

[Sue] Oh, goodness.

We thought we'd be done by now.

[Sue] Okay, keep goin', keep goin'.

-[Desiree] Do the drizzle and we're ready.
-I love peanut butter and honey.

-Let's hit the button.
-Hit that buzzer.

-All right!
-Hit it!

-Now high five him. There!
-Don't leave him hanging.

Judges, let's head on down
to Romel and Desiree.

-Second ones done, how do you feel?
-Hi!

-Cool! Good!
-Feeling pretty good.

-Pass them out. Tell us what you made.
-[Romel] We decided on two cupcakes,

because Charlie Brown, he's always
accompanied by his little sister, Sally.

So Charlie is a chocolate cupcake with
a roasted peanut milk chocolate ganache,

and he's topped with
a peanut butter Swiss meringue buttercream

and a peanut brittle bark.

Sally, she's a peanut butter
tres leches cupcake

with a strawberry compote

and a honey peanut butter
Swiss meringue frosting.

[Hunter] And what are they on right now?
What is this design?

It's an ice skating rink from the film.

-Adam...
-How sweet.

-Oh!
-[Romel] Yeah. Oh, you like that?

-Are you kidding?
-[Romel] No.

You know I dabble.

-Nice.
-[all laughing]

I really like the presentation.
Right off the bat,

you can tell what characters
you're trying to embody.

The buttercream is like...

-If I could take a bath in this...
-[Candace] Mm!

Rub-a-dub-dub, are you kidding me?
This is delicious.

[Gary] Go, git 'er done.

-On three. Ready? One, two, three! Yeah!
-One, two, three. Yeah!

Sue and Gary also done,
we'll get to them in a second.

-[bells jingle]
-[Hunter] Oh! And...

-[Adam] Wow.
-[Hunter] Everyone! Melissa and Joyce.

All right, well,
let's keep skatin' through this. Adriano?

Beautiful, I love how
you didn't use fondant.

I would have loved if maybe if you focused
on the one cupcake with the strawberries,

give it more fruity flavor,
but other than that, great work.

-Thank you.
-Really ambitious here today,

with not one but two cupcakes.

I love how you captured
the essence of each character.

Your peanut brittle was delicious.

But this peanut butter buttercream,

I could just tell when I walked over,
just how, like, glistening it is,

it just looked so silky,
and the taste did not disappoint.

-Thank you.
-Gotta get to two other teams.

Adriano, remind them
what they've gotta do in round two.

If you make it past elimination,
we want you to create a Charlie Brownie.

We don't want any square,
block, standard brownies,

we want something next-level, elevated.

-Make it fun, yeah?
-Nice. Will do.

Good luck, bakers. See you in a bit.

Maybe we can bake it, like, in a mug?

[Desiree] Like layers?

[Romel] And then we do
ice cream on top of that?

Yeah, that sounds great.

[Hunter] Sue, Gary, it looks like
we'll have a snowball fight

-as we pass these out.
-[Sue] Yeah!

-[Hunter] Tell us what you made.
-[Sue] We were inspired by Lucy.

We have our vanilla bean cupcake.

It has a raspberry-cranberry
Chambord filling,

and a chocolate buckeye,
which is our state candy.

It's different. It's kind of like a giant
truffle with all these textures inside,

you got the cake and the compote
in the middle, and the buckeye candy.

The coconut adds extra sweetness, 'cause
there's so much, but I quite enjoyed it.

I think this was such a cheerful take
on the challenge.

One thing I would have loved to have seen

is a bit more
of Lucy's actual character

-incorporated into it.
-Yeah.

The inside, the buckeye candy,
was, like, such a great touch,

and it went really
well together with everything.

-Thank you.
-Thank you, bakers.

-Thank you. Thank you.
-Judges, we have one more cupcake to try.

Let's do Charlie Brownies.

And then how about puppy chow on the top?

-Oh, that'd be delicious.
-Let's do it.

-[Hunter] Hello, Melissa. Hi, Joyce.
-[Joyce] Hi.

-Look at the paw prints!
-Oh, so cute.

-How are you?
-This is so cute.

[Hunter] Last ones to buzz in,
but not by much.

Why don't you pass out your cupcakes,
tell us what you made?

[Joyce] So it's a vanilla bean cupcake
filled with fresh strawberry jam

and topped with peanut butter buttercream.

And then I made the Snoopys and
the, uh, dog bowls out of fondant.

Great job.

You see right off the bat
what your character is.

It tastes exactly like
a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

-Mm-hm.
-It's delicious. Very good.

Amazing presentation.
You're very skilled with...

-with the artistic hand there.
-Thank you.

Beautiful as it is, big things
with fondant on top of cupcakes,

-you're just gonna pick it off.
-Yeah.

But the cupcake was delicious.

-Well done.
-Thank you.

Your Snoopy is so cute.

-Thank you.
-[Candace] You guys are so amazing

at this fondant work.

The only thing I would say is,

because your cupcake
didn't have a lot of lift to it,

and the frosting was quite thick,
the ratios were a bit off.

But the flavors were lovely. Thank you.

-Bakers, thank you so much.
-[all] Thank you.

Judges, we have a decision to make.

So what do you think for the brownies?
I really like bananas with chocolate.

-Oooh!
-Um...

Judges, all four cupcakes have been tried.

The Peanutsgang is all here,

and only three can move on
to the confection round.

Let's talk about who had your favorite.

First, really solid round.

Everyone was so imaginative,
the flavors were really on point.

Sheyna and Shari
knocked it out of the park.

That little crispy chocolate cup and
the bit of strawberry really nailed it.

I've literally never had
anything so light...

-Yeah.
-...that had such a kick to it.

[Candace] The flavors were on point.

They gave us beautiful interpretation
of their character,

and delicious cupcakes.

I had to really stop myself
from eating mine and everyone else's,

but then, when it comes
to picking a second favorite,

I really have to go
with Romel and Desiree,

because that buttercream was like...
I would...

If my sneakers were covered in it,
I would eat them.

-[Candace] Mm.
-[Adam] It was really delicious.

To be able to lighten it up in that way

and create a really lush,
silky buttercream

showed lots of technical skill.

They had a good presentation,
loved the ganache, loved the frosting.

I thought that brittle on top
was delicious.

Okay. Uh, so we know
who are your bottom two, then,

Melissa and Joyce,
as well as Sue and Gary.

Melissa and Joyce gave us
a really delightful presentation,

but the ratios were a bit off.

Melissa and Joyce,
I loved their presentation so much,

-it just was not my favorite this round.
-Mm-hm.

Frosting was really intense.

It covered the strawberry jam
in the middle, you didn't really taste it.

Sue and Gary,
the snowball was a clever idea,

but really didn't
speak to the character at all.

It had good flavors,
but a bit out of balance.

But adding that buckeye chocolate
into the middle, like,

that pulled it all together for me.

[Sue] Oh, goodness.

-We need a Christmas miracle.
-[Joyce] I know.

Okay, judges,
it sounds like you have made a decision.

I will go ahead and let our bakers know.

Bakers, can I have your attention, please?

Our judges have made their first decision,

and the team with the judges'
favorite overall cupcake is...

-Making Pig-Pen proud, Sheyna and Shari.
-Aah!

-[cheering]
-[Hunter laughs]

[Sheyna and Shari laugh]

Congratulations,
you're safe from elimination.

And because it's Christmas,

and Charlie Brown's kind of always
under pressure from his friends,

we're gifting you both
a brand new pressure cooker.

-Oh! Thank you! [laughs]
-Oh, thank you.

You can continue
working on your confection

as we do the hard part of the show,

which is make an elimination.

Only three teams can move forward
to the confection round,

and our judges had to pick
their least favorite cupcake.

And that cupcake belongs to...

-Sue and Gary.
-Aww.

You had a delicious snowball cupcake,
and the flavors were all there,

just our judges wanted to see a bit more
incorporation of the character herself.

Thank you, Sue and Gary.
We really appreciate it.

Your time in the Sugar Rushkitchen
has run out.

-[Sue] We are surprised we got eliminated.
-[Gary] We were very happy with the taste.

We still feel like
we put out a winner there.

This woman means the world to me.

I wanted the title for her.
I love her so much,

and I just wanna spend
the rest of my life with her every day.

[chuckles] You will, baby.

Everyone else, Melissa, Joyce,
Romel, Desiree,

you have moved on to the confection round.

Continue on with your Charlie Brownie.

You have 58 minutes. Good luck, bakers.

I cannot believe Zumbo and Candace
loved our stuff.

Can't get cocky, we have to bust this out.

[Shari] We decided to make
a blondie-topped brownie

with a raspberry sauce
and a rum popo ice cream,

and we'll decorate it
with Charlie Brown's chevron shirt.

Charlie Brown, where you at?

[laughs]

-This is ready to go?
-Mm-hm.

We have to get
the brownie batter in first,

'cause that has to bake a little bit
before we put the blondie on top.

-Fifteen minutes?
-[Shari] Yep.

Okay, I'm just gonna
mix this brownie batch.

I'm doin' it old school,
hand-mixing in the bowl. [laughs]

For the confection round, we're making
a coffee brownie baked inside a mug

with a chocolate ganache,

a banana, turmeric, and cinnamon
golden milk ice cream,

topped with caramelized bananas
and whipped cream.

I got the brownies goin'.

-You sure it's correct?
-Yeah.

We're taking a risk in this round,

because we're using non-traditional
flavors to impress the judges.

But we didn't come this far to not go big.

[Romel] I'm goin' in. Start the ice cream.

[Desiree] Okay.

So how you feeling on time, girl?

Uh, I wish that we had more.

-I know. I know. I know.
-I wish we had more.

So we really have to bust this thing out.

For our confections, we'll be making

a brownie with a bananas Foster sauce

topped with a mascarpone whipped cream.

-[Joyce] Okay, this is good?
-[Melissa] Yeah.

Judges, this round is a very fun one,

one we haven't had on Sugar Rushbefore.

-Mm-mm.
-[Hunter] A pure brownie round.

And if chocolate is your thing,
this is the place to be.

Which it is.
I love a chewy brownie, but also,

the sign of a great brownie to me is
that shiny, crackly crust on top.

Adam, are you a big brownie guy?

I've never met a brownie
that's done me wrong,

and I hope today that doesn't change.

[laughter]

Let's take our brownies out,
and let's get the blondie on top.

[Sheyna] So for the ratio of our brownie,

we want the judges to be able to have
an equal amount in each bite.

They are beautiful!

In order to do that, the brownie
has to bake a little bit first,

then we add the blondie batter.

I'm doing a heaping. One heaping, then...

Don't put too much.
'Cause I don't want it to be gooey.

-[Shari] Yeah.
-[Sheyna] Okay. They could go in.

Man, that turmeric is giving this
such a pretty color.

-I know. I love it.
-I love it. Just reminds me of Charlie.

The turmeric gives the ice cream
that bright yellow,

just like Charlie Brown.

Is it lookin' like ice cream?

-Not yet.
-All right.

[Desiree] Hopefully it'll be a fun flavor
for the judges to taste.

All right, I got, like, two more minutes
for the brownies to cook.

-[Joyce] How you doing?
-[Melissa] Good.

-[Joyce] Okay.
-[Melissa] That's it?

[Joyce] Yeah.

[Melissa] Did you taste
the bananas Foster?

It's gonna taste even better
when it gets to room temperature.

[Joyce] Do you have a toothpick?

-[Melissa] Oh, that looks beautiful.
-[Joyce] I just wanna see...

-Yeah, it still needs more.
-How dare you not cook?

[Shari] All right,
so I'm startin' the ice cream.

Please make it how Mom makes it.

All right, I'll try my best.

Our parents are West Indian. My mom
is from Belize, my dad is from Jamaica.

Rum popo is like our version of eggnog.

[Sheyna] Don't put all of that.

Yeah. A little more.

[Shari] So I'm really excited to bring
our culture and our heritage

to show the judges
what we do for Christmas.

[Shari] Just a little bit
at a time, Sheyn.

It's super creamy.

-Oh, this...
-It's just like Mom's.

It is just like Mom's. It's perfect.

[Romel] It's almost time for the flambé.

It's about to get lit
in the Sugar Rushkitchen.

We ready to bring out the brownies?

I'm throwing these in the blast chiller
for a second. The mugs are hot.

-[Sheyna] Let's get the brownies out.
-[Shari] I'll do it. You do the chevron.

-Two more.
-Do a double. Yeah.

[Sheyna] Just ice cream and mint,
and we're ready.

Okay, ready to press?

Come on, come on.
Press, press, press, press.

-[bells jingle]
-Sheyna and Shari, first yet again.

Judges, let's head on down.

Sheyna and Sheri.

-Yes!
-You guys are speedy.

All right, pass out your Charlie Brownie
and tell us all about it.

[Sheyna] So here we have
our Charlie Brownie,

which is a blondie-topped brownie.

The brownie has dark chocolate,
and the blondie has crushed pecans.

We decorated it with a cute chevron design
like Charlie,

and we accompanied it
with rum popo ice cream.

Rum popo is a traditional Christmas drink

that we grew up drinkin' all the time.

And a raspberry sauce.

The chocolate brownie was...
was fudgy and decadent,

and the blondie on top
added a little bit more lightness.

I would've liked more raspberry sauce,
to be more intense.

-Yeah.
-But that ice cream is super punchy.

The rum. Yeah, it's got a good rum kick.
Needs a warning sign.

[all laughing]

[Candace] You've definitely
up-leveled the traditional brownie

by layering both the brownie
and the blondie together,

giving it to us in a circular shape,

and then adding your own personal touch
with the ice cream and raspberry sauce.

I personally am such a chocolate girl.

I would have loved even a little bit more

in terms of the ratio
of brownie to blondie,

just to sort of, like, pump up
the power of that chocolate flavor.

-But really great job.
-Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I love the ice cream.
I think the kick of the rum...

-I needed that. You know...
-[laughing]

[chuckles] We see each other.

-Yes.
-[Adam] Yeah, we do.

With the brownie, I wish it was
a little bit more ooey and gooey.

-Mm-hm.
-It felt a little burnt.

But when I did eat everything together,

the ice cream and the brownie, I loved it.

-Thank you, guys.
-Thank you.

-[Hunter] Okay.
-Thank you.

Bakers,
you were the first ones done again,

this time banking 33 minutes,
46 seconds for your cake round.

How do you feel?

-We feel good.
-Yeah.

Staying positive.

I'm grabbin' some fudgy ones,
then maybe we should break some up, no?

Perfect. Perfect.

-[chime]
-[bells jingle]

Romel and Desiree are done,
which is perfect timing.

Bakers, incredible job.

-See you. Let's have another brownie.
-Thank you.

-Well done.
-Good job.

-Have fun.
-Thank you.

-[Sheyna] That wasn't bad.
-[Shari] Not bad.

[Melissa] It's completely raw.

-[Joyce] Is it really?
-[Melissa] Completely raw.

-[Joyce] Okay.
-[Melissa tuts] Completely raw.

-I want to hide right now.
-[Joyce] Me, too.

These brownies are
extremely under-baked in the middle.

You filled it up too much.

-It was too high.
-Yeah.

[Melissa] The brownie pan
may have been filled up too much

to cook in a realistic time frame.

We're gonna let this be in there
for, like, three...

-[Melissa] At 350? 400?
-[Joyce] No, four.

We can't give them raw brownie.

-[Hunter] That is a lot!
-[Candace] Wow.

-Lot to take in.
-Wow.

-[Candace] Pass those down.
-Pass them out. Tell us what you made.

We made a Charlie Brownie.

It's actually a coffee-flavored brownie

with a golden milk ice cream,
which is turmeric, ginger and cinnamon.

It's topped with whipped cream.

-It's like a play on a bananas Foster.
-[Candace] Mmm.

[Romel] So we really wanted to embody
the colors of Charlie Brown,

so that's why we chose
to do the yellow ice cream.

So the brownie, you just dig down

-underneath the ice cream.
-We baked the brownie into the cup,

-so it's down there.
-Oh, I'm getting down there.

[laughter]

You guys really thought
outside the brownie box today

with your brownie in a mug.

Such a treat.
The flavors were really working.

I love the banana
with the turmeric flavor.

That was a really interesting surprise
and very sophisticated.

Beautiful play on the brownie,
you know, great flavors.

Great presentation.
I love that ice cream, it's delicious.

-Great work.
-Thank you.

I mean, that whipped cream was amazing.

The brownie is great,
the turmeric golden milk ice cream...

I mean, that was flawless.

-I loved it.
-Thank you.

Bakers, you did an incredible job.
You banked 27 minutes, 24 seconds.

How do you feel about that time saved?
What you wanted?

-Yeah!
-Yes. We were prepared

to make the cake in three hours,

so it feels really good
to have an extra 27 minutes.

-Definitely.
-All right. Thank you, bakers.

Judges, we have
one more confection to try.

Let's head back to the judges' table.

-All right.
-Thank you.

Thank you.

[Joyce] A minute to go. I just wanna see...

[ice cracking]

[Melissa] That feels raw inside.

-Uh-oh.
-[Candace] They used the toothpick test,

and basically the entire toothpick
was covered in batter.

So that is not a good sign.
They have nine minutes left.

The outside of the brownie
is completely baked,

but the brownie is still raw
in the middle.

-Like little brownie bites.
-Maybe like a brownie crumble?

We have no time to do anything.

-[Joyce] Let's try to cut the pieces.
-[Melissa] Like brownie bites.

So we decide to give the judges
the portion of the brownie that is cooked.

[Joyce] Bring me the... the plate.

You know what? They're workin' it out.

[Melissa] Let me get
the rest of the bowls.

[Joyce] I need a plate.

All right, bakers,
you have one minute left!

-Okay!
-Okay, okay.

We're gonna hit the bell.

-All right, bakers, well done.
-[cheering]

Judges, let's head on down and try

-our final confection.
-Oh, my God.

Melissa, Joyce, well...

-Oh, that's beautiful.
-[both] Thank you.

We had no idea
what it was gonna look like.

-We didn't either!
-[laughter]

Okay, why don't you pass out your
confection and tell us what you made?

We made a bananas Foster brownie
with mascarpone whipped cream.

Well, ladies, it was very nerve-wracking
watching you guys.

I mean, we were down to the wire then,
less than a minute left.

I think you worked it out
as best as you could here.

A brownie is one thing that,
if underdone, still tastes delicious.

The difference in texture between

the crustiness of the corner
and the gooeyness of the inside

was a little extreme for me.

-[Joyce] Yeah.
-But the chocolate flavor was all there,

the rest of the flavors were beautiful.

I have to say, for me,
it was worth the wait.

Overall, it just, like, encompassed
everything I love in a brownie.

I would say that the texture difference
between the outside and the inside

is a bit extreme,

but I am definitely
more of a gooey-brownie kind of guy,

-you could probably tell.
-[laughing]

-That was delish.
-[both] Thank you.

Mascarpone whipped cream,
it's rich and luscious.

The brownie has good chocolate taste,

but overall I think for me
it's a bit sweet.

-Thank you.
-You banked an astounding 55 seconds.

-[Joyce] Oh, yeah, yeah.
-It's something.

-[laughing]
-Judges, we have a decision to make,

so let's head back to the judges' table.

-Thank you, bakers.
-Thank you, guys. Thank you.

[Melissa] Thank you.

I put in too much, uh... batter.

-That's what it was, it was too high.
-Yeah.

Okay, judges,
we have tasted all three confections,

and now it is time
to decide who is going home

and who's moving on
to the final cake round.

So, judges,
who had your favorite confection?

If I look back and think of the one
I'd probably go back to eat first,

it would probably be Romel and Desiree.

Great flavors,
that ice cream was out of the park.

And I think probably theirs was
the most out there and unique.

They went just over the top
with their brownie mug,

which was so indulgent and
filled with such incredible flavors.

I had my first bite
and I was like, "Okay,"

and then I had my second one,
and then when I did start digging,

I really saw what they were trying to do.

It all kind of came together for me.
It was delicious.

Okay, so it seems like we have a winner.

Unfortunately, though, only two teams
can make it on to the final cake round.

Who had your least favorite confection?

Melissa and Joyce put up a yummy brownie,
the brownie's Foster sauce was lovely...

I just couldn't get past the technical
issues in the brownie itself.

You know, I love a crusty corner piece,
but this was bordering on really tough.

And their presentation was
a little bit lackluster for me.

[Adam] But the whipped cream was great.

The thing that I loved was that
they had the only brownie that was, like,

ooey and gooey on the inside.

Sheyna and Shari
once again bringing the flavors

with their layered
brownie-blondie creation.

Also bringing in a little rum popo,
which I hadn't had before.

It added a really nice kick.

The ice cream to the side had a good punch

that when you ate it with the brownie
went well.

Just that raspberry sauce needed
to be dialed up,

-you know, ten times.
-[Candace] Mm-hm.

I did like their brownie,
but it felt a little bit burnt to me.

Judges, it seems like
a decision has been made.

I will go ahead and let our bakers know.

All right, bakers,
can I have your attention again?

Our judges have made
their second decision,

and while everybody had
incredible brownies,

this was a remarkably tough decision
to make.

The favorite Charlie Brownie today
belongs to...

Romel and Desiree.

-Yes!
-Nice.

[Hunter] You are safe
and moving to the cake round.

Congratulations, Romel and Desiree.

In honor of Charlie Brown Christmas,
we want to give you a gift:

two sets of brand new, shiny cake pans.

-Nice!
-[Hunter] Do with them what you will.

-[Romel] Thank you.
-Unfortunately, that means

that one of
the final two teams will be going home.

And the team with our judges'
least favorite confection this round is...

Melissa and Joyce.

Unfortunately, your time
in the Sugar Rushkitchen has run out.

-Oh, no, it's dark in here.
-I know.

-I know. The lighting makes it all sad.
-[both laughing]

-Thank you. You did an incredible job.
-[both] Thank you.

This confection does not represent
what we are capable of doing at all,

but it definitely does show
our determination and our passion

to cross the finish line no matter what.

-Good luck.
-Good luck. Take it home.

-[Shari] All right!
-[laughing]

[Joyce] We can really get through
whatever hardships come before us.

-It's all a learning experience, you know?
-I never wanna make brownies again.

Congratulations, Sheyna and Shari,
Romel and Desiree,

you've earned your spots
in the final cake round.

For your final round, we want a cake

that's inspired by
the Charlie Brown Christmasspecial.

You can depict your favorite scene,

or create a cake that evokes
the emotion you get when you watch it.

Desiree and Romel,

you banked 27 minutes and 24 seconds
for your final cake round.

We're gonna add three hours to that,
giving you a total

of three hours, 27 minutes and 24 seconds.

Sheyna and Shari,

you banked 33 minutes and 46 seconds
for your final cake round.

We're gonna add three hours to that,

giving you a total of three hours,
33 minutes and 46 seconds.

And because you banked more time,
you will be going first.

Desiree and Romel,
you can hang out until your time starts.

Sheyna and Shari, your time starts in...

-[bleeping]
-...three, two, one, go.

Good luck, bakers.

-So you wanna do a tiered cake.
-Yes.

Let's do the whole entire...

-Movie?
-...movie on the cake.

The design of our cake
is going to showcase the whole movie.

The first tier
will represent the beginning,

where Charlie Brown
walks through his town.

The second tier,
Charlie Brown directs the Christmas play.

The tier above that, Charlie goes
to scout out the Christmas tree.

And the top tier is
the Peanut gang singing,

topped with Snoopy's little
house and Snoopy on top of it.

We're making what we're known for,
which is called alternate slice.

It is more than one flavor of cake
in one slice of cake.

We decided to make an Oreo cake,
lemon cake, and Baileys cake

with peppermint buttercream.

I know it sounds like a lot,

but I'm very confident that these flavors
will actually complement each other.

Sheyna, that is so good.

-You tasted it?
-Yeah, sorry.

[both snort and laugh]

Should be in the oven within, like,

-15 minutes, okay?
-Okay, perfect.

We have a pretty big design.

Fingers crossed we get it done.

-I made Snoopy.
-[Sheyna] Wow, you made Snoopy already?

-Yeah. The Snoopy house.
-Awesome.

-[Sheyna] Perfect.
-I doubled it and put a stick

so it can go onto the cake.

-Three, two, one!
-[bleeping]

Romel, Desiree, get goin'.

My favorite part of Christmas is,
like, decorating a Christmas tree.

-So...
-That's cool. How about we put Snoopy

on top of Charlie Brown's head,

-his leg out to the side.
-[Desiree] Topsy-turvy.

-Topsy-turvy.
-Yeah, let's do it.

[Romel] We are making Charlie and Snoopy
balancing on top of a gift,

trying to place a star
on top of the pink Christmas tree cake.

Come on, let's bring it. Right now.

-I'm bringin' it. I'm bringin' it. Aah!
-Let's not let up.

For the cake round,
we are doing a chocolate cake,

peppermint dark chocolate ganache,

and a pomegranate buttercream
with fresh pomegranate seeds

to give a nice pop.

I got egg whites on the double boiler,
so they're cooking.

Hopefully we'll have buttercream
in, like, an hour.

[Sheyna] I'm good. Goin' in the oven.

[Sheyna] We are doin'
three different cake flavors...

-I'm doing the buttercream now, Shari.
-Okay.

[Sheyna] ...with a peppermint buttercream.

And it takes a lot
to be able to balance that flavor.

I'm putting butter
in the buttercream, Shari.

Hopefully, the judges appreciate
this little homage

to our homegirl Peppermint Patty.

Okay, Shari,
peppermint buttercream is done.

All right, I'm gonna start, uh... like,
sculpting all the character pieces.

Okay, great. Start with his legs.

So I'm molding these Rice Krispie pieces

into the Charlie Brown character
and the Snoopy character.

[Desiree] How you doin' over there?

[Romel] Got cakes goin' into the oven.

[Desiree] Sounds good!

[Romel] Cake's goin' into the oven!

Thought I'd give you an update.

-[laughs]
-Get it in there.

-Let me see.
-[Sheyna] Not comin' out.

We're tryin' to take the cakes
out the cake pan,

and they're like, "Yeah, no.
We're not comin' out."

What you thinkin' about?

-My sugar.
-Go check it.

Hm.

I'm gonna put it on this way.

No, uh... You need this.

I'm gonna put it on this way,
and you can put that on top.

Why don't... Okay.

-[Sheyna] Time goes by so quickly.
-[Shari] I know. I know, I know, I know.

[Romel] I think we're good on this.

-For sure.
-Okay.

My cake's in the oven,
so I'm taking the meringue

that has finally come to temperature,

I'm dumping that into the mixing bowl
to get that started.

[Desiree gasps]

Yeah, that's meringue-ing.

-Oh!
-Oh, my God, it's gettin' messy.

Hey, Desiree, do you wanna...

Desiree, we have the same style
in the kitchen. If it happens, it happens.

I'm not gonna fight it,
I'll let the mixer do its thing.

[laughs] You know, what I can do
is let me put a bowl under it.

We can collect it,
turn it into more buttercream.

[Romel] All right,
I think we're good on this.

-For sure.
-[Desiree] Okay.

-I'm gonna get this... present together.
-We can do this.

So, on one side of the cake
we're making a present,

and on top of that present
we're gonna have Charlie falling over

as Snoopy is standing on his head,

topping the tree with a star.

[Desiree] Um... Is that his neck?

I don't want him to look like
he's been in the gym too long.

Watch this. Be careful here.

Ready? Check both sides?

Love the beautiful pastels they're using.

Got it?

Their cakes look so clean.

[Romel] The buttercream
is really, uh, liquidy.

Whipping it more is not gonna do anything.

You need to get it back in the fridge
and get it stiff.

There isn't a lot of time
left on the clock,

so I'm putting in
powdered sugar and shortening

to thicken up the buttercream.

Do you guys think this is a new batch,

or does he keep doing this into the same...

Basically he's combining
making a Swiss meringue buttercream

with an American-style buttercream.

Has he tasted it?

He didn't cool his meringue enough,
he put the butter in, it's liquified,

now he's trying
to thicken it back up with the sugar.

I'm telling you, Romel, it'll never
come back if it's liquid.

Why can't you listen to me?

Bakers, you have one hour remaining.

[Shari] How's it goin', Sheyn?

I just put, like, a thing of snow
around the skating rink.

I'm feeling good about what I have done
as far as the fondant goes.

But time is going
super-duper fast right now.

Did we go a little bit overboard
with our design?

-Right here?
-Mm-hm.

[Desiree] Need me to throw the buttercream
back on, or is it good?

-[Romel] I got it.
-Okay.

At this point, there's not a whole lot
that I can do with the soft buttercream.

This is maybe as good as it can get.

But I want to make sure
that the tree has frosting on it.

Got the Christmas tree bottom layer
comin' in.

We're layering our cakes
with the buttercream,

a mint dark chocolate ganache,

and we're adding fresh pomegranate seeds
for a nice acidic pop.

We're almost at the finish line.

Putting a whole entire movie on a cake
in three hours is going overboard.

Maybe we should just do it on the front,

and hopefully
the judges don't look at the back.

There's still a lot more to do, so we
kind of just wanna get everything done.

I know, Shari. We're gonna get it done.
We're gonna get it done.

All business in the front,
no party in the back.

Sorry, Charlie.

[Shari] We need a bit more.
Make sure you put more.

Bakers, you have less than 30 minutes
remaining!

[Desiree] You scrape it and then
I'll follow where you scraped.

[Romel] Yeah, just start off here
on the front.

[Desiree] Aaah!

[Hunter] Oh, oh...

-Okay!
-[squeaks] Oh!

Oh, no! Oh, no...

[Desiree] Romel...

[Desiree] The buttercream starts
to slide off our cake.

Oh, wait. I have to move over.

I am trying to think of anything
we can do to save this buttercream.

[Romel] This is just
all gonna melt off, Desi.

-Make American buttercream real quick.
-Oh, my God.

-Twenty minutes?
-I can make some in five minutes.

Do it. This runny buttercream
isn't gonna stop us!

[Sheyna] Okay, Snoopy's done.

Just a little frustrated on time.

-[Shari] I need more of those.
-[Sheyna] How many?

-Like, six? Can you do six?
-Bruh... you got three.

I'll start trying to put some...

-Keep going.
-...details on the cake.

All right, bakers,
you have ten minutes left!

Shari, let me do it. Let me.

-[Romel] Start with glitter.
-[Desiree] Yep.

[Desiree] We're throwing glitter,
sanding sugar, gumballs...

we're just doing it all
to complete this cake.

I am doing this so sloppy.
I would never do this at home.

-Can you turn it towards me a bit?
-I have to put this tree. Shari.

[Hunter] Thirty seconds, bakers!

What do you need? Hurry up!

[judges] Five, four, three, two, one!

[Hunter] Stop!

-[laughing]
-No more touching your cakes.

Judges, let's head on down and see these
Charlie Brown Christmasmasterpieces.

Romel, Desiree,
what's this reaction you guys are having?

-[both] Nothing.
-[Hunter] That's sliding off the side!

[Desiree] No, that's the motion effect
we put into the cake.

-I like it. Sell it!
-You did that intentionally.

The smell of buttercream is overwhelming
my whole body, and I can't wait.

Tell us about the design of your cake.

The design of our cake was based

off of that tradition
of decorating the tree, getting together.

So we thought
we'd kind of add a little twist

of Charlie and Snoopy
havin' a "Oh, crap" moment

as they're going to put the topper on.

It's so impressive. When I look at it,

I see the story you are trying to tell.
I'm very into it.

I did witness a few technical issues,

and I was just so happy
to see you not give up,

and try to figure it out.

I also wanna give you props
for capturing Charlie Brown's expression.

It is just spot on.

Thank you so much.

I think it's great colors,
great design concept.

Instead of a typical tiered cake,
you know, you took a risk,

pushed yourself
and did something different.

-So let's see how it tastes. Good job.
-[both] Thank you.

-We are heading to Sheyna and Shari.
-Thank you.

-Great job, guys.
-Thank you.

Hi, Sheyna. Hi, Shari.

-How are you doing?
-Good.

[Shari] We showcased the whole movie
of Charlie Brown Christmas.

Each tier represents
specific scenes in the movie.

The bottom tier shows
Charlie's town with all his homes

and the little psychiatric kiosk
that he goes to visit.

-Our ice staking rink, too.
-Oh! Also the ice skating rink.

-Don't forget the rink, because of our...
-Yes.

-[whispers] ...guest judge.
-[laughing]

-Exactly.
-Yeah, I'm like... I'm like, "Oh, wow."

-Okay.
-[laughter]

[Shari] The next tier showcases
when Charlie went to direct the play.

Above that,
all the Christmas trees in the lot.

And above that, we have the whole gang

singing lovely Christmas carols
in the starry night

because they realized
that the tree wasn't so sad after all.

I love that you took us on a full journey
throughout the entire movie.

The colors are truly
these pastel tones throughout the film.

I would've loved the whole scene

-to go all the way around the cake.
-Mm-hm.

But from the front it is gorgeous,

it's a very clear picture of what it is.

-It sounds delicious. I'm ready.
-Mm!

-[laughter]
-[Candace] Serve it up!

Speaking of being ready,
cut us four slices,

and we'll see you at the judges' table.

-Have fun.
-Will do.

-Good luck.
-[both] Thanks.

Merry Christmas.

Let's go ahead and start with
Sheyna and Shari's triple-flavored cake.

So we have alternate layers

of Baileys cake, Oreo cake,
and a lemon cake,

with a peppermint buttercream

with peppermint extract, and a little bit
of peppermint liqueur as well.

When you were describing your cake
flavors to me, I thought,

"There is no way all of those flavors
are gonna go together."

You made a believer out of me today.

They somehow magically
work beautifully together,

and I can only imagine it's because
it was in your deft baking hands.

Thank you.

Adventurous choice,
picking so many flavors.

The cake tastes nice, but I'm struggling
with the balance of flavors.

I would have liked a little bit more
Baileys, the lemon, with the peppermint.

I would have liked a bit more buttercream
around the edge in the cake,

just to give it a bit more juiciness.

Other than that, you did an amazing job.

-Thank you.
-Thank you.

There is a fine line
of being too pepperminty,

but you sat right before that line
and you said, "Not I."

-[Candace laughs]
-Um... It was delicious.

-I enjoyed the whole thing.
-Thank you.

All right, Romel and Desiree.

So we prepared for you guys
a chocolate cake

with a dark chocolate mint ganache
in the center,

and a pomegranate buttercream,

and added fresh pomegranate seeds
inside the layers for a nice pop.

This was just, like,
the downiest, softest cake.

I feel like I could have just
fallen asleep in it, it was so soft.

I'll be honest, when I saw you pouring
all that powdered sugar in, I thought,

"That's gonna be a toothache."

But I was actually pleasantly surprised.

It wasn't as sweet
as I thought it would be.

What I will say is
the shortening that you used

did add a little bit of a slickness
to the texture of the buttercream

that I know wasn't what you intended.

Great cake, it was really soft and tender.

Great peppermint taste,
I like how you put it through the ganache.

I liked the idea
of the addition of the pomegranate,

but I would've liked more pomegranate.

Obviously, you had some issues
with your buttercream,

but in the end you got it all up.

-Well done.
-Thank you.

The chocolate ganache, it was amazing.

It was smooth, it wasn't overdone.

I thought it was fantastic.

And for me, I love fresh fruit,

so I loved to have
that bite of the pomegranate

while I was having
this really excellent cake.

So, judges,
one last decision needs to be made.

Who had your favorite cake?
Candace, we'll start with you.

Sheyna and Shari, you gave us classic
cake tiers, three flavors of cake,

perfectly pastel-colored to represent
the Charlie Brown Christmasspecial.

Romel and Desiree, you gave us
a really unique sculpted cake,

it held together, and I loved
how soft your chocolate cake was.

Ultimately, my vote goes to...

Sheyna and Shari.

Sheyna and Shari, that's one vote for you
in the Sugar Rush Christmaskitchen,

meaning if you get one more vote,
you will be going home with $10,000.

Adriano?

Sheyna and Shari, your cake had great
pastel colors, a great story to tell,

uh, and your cake had
a great tender crumb.

Romel and Desiree,
beautiful colors, I really enjoyed that.

I think you had a great design,
you took a big risk.

Your cake, I thought you really did well
with the peppermint flavoring.

Today my vote's gonna go with...

Romel and Desiree.

[Hunter] Romel and Desiree,
that's one vote for you.

Meaning our deciding vote belongs to
someone who knows pressure like no other,

Adam Rippon.

There's so much pressure on my once,
before I got here, slender shoulders.

[Candace laughs]

Romel and Desiree.
I thought your cake was delicious,

the flavors were fantastic,

and the risk you took
in trying to really recreate a full scene,

it was very impressive.

My two favorite elves.

Sheyna and Shari, your cake,

maybe not as impressive
as Romel and Desiree,

but the inside was delicious.

All three flavors tasted really great,

and you were right,
they did complement each other.

My favorite cake today belongs to...

Sheyna and Shari.

[Hunter] Sheyna and Shari,
congratulations,

you just won $10,000
in the Sugar Rush Christmaskitchen!

I am a little bummed, of course,

but I'm super happy with the way
that Desiree and I performed.

[Desiree] So even though
we didn't win Sugar Rush,

just being here and making it
to that cake round was a win in itself.

-Congrats.
-Oh, my God!

Come here, give me a hug!

Oh, my gosh!

Stop crying, Shari. Stop crying!

As sisters,
we've gone through a lot together,

and to go through this as well,

this amazing accomplishment,
I'm so grateful for that.

Thank you, sis.

-Thank you.
-I could not have done it without you.

-[Hunter] Hey, yeah!
-[Adam] Yay!

[Candace] Snoopy! Snoopy!

[Hunter] Group hug with Snoopy!
