- Automatic radio SOS signal,
Atlanta.
Get me Stingray.

- Go ahead, Commander,
Troy Tempest speaking.
- [Sam] What's your position,
Captain?
- South-southwest 2,000,
reference seven, sir.
- Good, proceed to area 10.
That's 100 miles
northeast of you.
Investigate SOS call signal.
- Okay, sir, we're on our way.
[dramatic music]
[somber music]
- Gee, he looks pretty sick.
- [Troy] We'll get him back
to Marineville right away.
- [Doc] Cardiac respiratory
infiltration test negative.
- Well, Doc, what do you think?
- Oh, I'm baffled, Commander.
The tests don't tell
us anything.
There's no doubt he's
in some kind of trance.
He appears to be suffering
from a form of paralysis.
- In other words, you
don't know the cause.
- At the moment, no,
any more than you know
what he was doing in
the middle of the ocean.
But I'll get a nurse to stay
with him and keep observation.
At the moment, that's
all we can do.
- Well, you'd better
resume patrol, Troy.
- Right, sir, I'll get Phones.
Should I recall Marina for duty,
sir?
She's due for some time off.
- No point, Troy, let her
have some rest.
[smooth jazzy music]
- Sure is strange about
that man Troy picked up.
Have you got any theories,
Marina?
Well, according to his
identification papers,
his name's Thompson, and
that's about all we know.
The doctor says there's been
no change in his condition.
I wonder what it all means.
[somber music]
[eerie whistling music]
[body thuds]
[dramatic music]
[smooth jazzy music]
You know, I think this is
the best disc I've got.
Oh, you're going home, eh?
I guess it is kinda late.

I have to admit the
conversation's a bit one-sided,
but if you don't mind, I

Father won't be off

the symptoms.

Whatever Thompson's
suffering from,
it must now be presumed
that it's highly contagious.
- Right, quarantine the
ward area, Doc,

from Thompson yourself.

Commander, and I'm a doctor.
It's my duty to do what
I can for him.
- I'm sorry, Doctor, but
I can't risk your life
on a case that yourself
have said is hopeless.
You're needed more than
ever here now.

- Now we better isolate Thompson
and the nurse immediately.
This thing, whatever it is,
must not be allowed to spread.

time to grab some coffee
in the diner before
I go on duty.

[metal clangs]
[dramatic music]

- Luckily, Lieutenant Fisher
was not injured in the crash,
Commander, but he's in the
same condition as the nurse.
- It's spreading, Doc.
That man Thompson has
brought some kind of disease
into Marineville and
it's getting a foothold.
- I'll get back to the hospital
and continue the tests, sir.
We've got to find an answer.
[dramatic music]
[Atlanta breathing softly]
[door squeaking]
- What's that, who's there?
[eerie whistling music]
[dramatic fanfare]
[dramatic music]
- I'm sorry, sir, I've
done all I can for Atlanta,
but she's completely
unresponsive.
- You mean she's contracted
this mysterious disease, too?
But she hasn't been in
contact with the others.
I'm getting in touch with
HQ right away.
They'd better send a team
of medics down immediately.
What now, the power plant!
Tower to power plant, come in.

They must've been hit too, Doc.
Tower to tracking station,
do you read me?
- [Station Officer]
Tracking station here.
Go ahead, Commander.
- Well, thank heavens
they're still okay.
Get me HQ and detail someone
to put emergency lighting
into operation.
- [Station Officer] Yes, sir.
- Headquarters from
Marineville tower.
Commander Shore here.
I've declared a state
of emergency.
We seem to have
some kind of mysterious
epidemic on our hands.
We've flown some blood
samples to you.
Can you organize some tests?
- [HQ Officer] Will do,
Commander.
Now do you want help
immediately?
- We could do with
some more medics
if they can be spared.
- [HQ Officer] I'll see
what I can do, Shore.
Meanwhile, check in every four
hours and keep me informed.
- Yes, sir, tower to
tracking station.
I want a call booked
to HQ every four hours.
Come in, tracking station,
do you read me?
- They're down, too, huh?
- Guess so.
Doc, half Marineville
is in a trance,
and we've got no answers.
Better get back to the
hospital and start work.

change to Atlanta's condition.

Looks like I'm running
this outfit on my own.

a ghost town.
Marineville's beaten,
just beaten by something
we can't even see.

[dramatic fanfare]

- What's that tapping, Phones?
- It's coming from the
radio transmitter.
- There must be a
faulty connection.
Take a look, will ya?
Phones, get that radio fixed.
The noise is driving me crazy.
- It's not the set, Troy.
Sounds like somebody
tapping a mic.
- What's the frequency?
- Marineville.
- Marineville?
Hey, maybe it's Marina.
Troy Tempest calling, is
that you, Marina?
If it is, tap once.
[Marina taps]
Good girl.
One tap yes and two taps for no.
Is Commander Shore there?
He is, good, and can he
come to the radio?
No, why, is there
something wrong?
[Marina taps once]
Well, is Atlanta there
or Lieutenant Fisher?

Okay, Marina, we'll get
back as quickly as we can.

The place is in
complete darkness.
- Yeah, and there's not a sound.
- Quick, the control room.
He's acting like he's in a
trance, Phones.
What goes on around here?
- And where's Marina?
- Let's take a look
around outside.
[dramatic music]
- Oh, it's spooky.
It's like a ghost town, Troy.
- [Troy] Well, that looks
like Lieutenant Fisher's car.
- [Phones] Yeah,
what's left of it.
- Let's try the
security checkpoint.
There must be someone that
can tell us what's happened.
[dramatic music]
- They are the same, Troy.
What goes on?
- They've all got the same
look, like the man we rescued.
- You mean he coulda passed
on some kinda disease?
- I don't know.
Let's get to the hospital,
see if we can find out.
[dramatic music]
- Here it is.
[Marina tapping at door]
- Hey, what's that banging?
It's coming from one of
the other wards.
Marina, what goes on?
Everyone else is in a trance.
Why weren't you affected?
- Maybe it's because she's
different from the rest,
you know, from under the sea.
- That's it, we found that guy
in the middle of the ocean.
Is this all connected with him,
Marina?
So it is.
Whatever he does, will
it affect Phones and me?
Let's take a look at him.
Is it dangerous then, Marina?
In what way, what does he do?
He does something with his hand.
He's got a gun?
Well, if it's not a gun,
it must be some other
kind of weapon.
- We'll just have to
watch our step.
- [Troy] You will, Phones.
- How's that, Troy?
- Because I'm gonna set
you up as a guinea pig.

- Now this is what I

[suspenseful music]
[eerie whistling music]
- Now, Troy, now!
[bullet zings]

Where am I?

Where do you come from?

I, I can't remember a thing.
- Troy, the lights are okay.
- Yeah, the power plant
boys must've come 'round.
Come on, what's all this about?
Think, man, think!
- Yes, I remember, they
had one of those.
- Who had one, come on,
this is important, think!
- They did, the men from
under the sea.
They came up in a craft.
I was fishing on vacation.
There was a noise.
I don't remember any more.
- Sounds as if he's
been under the influence
of some underwater race,
probably through hypnosis,
the watch transmitting the
hypnotic waves.
[alarm blaring]
Get to the control tower, quick!
That's the main alarm system.
- [Station Officer] Marineville
tracking station calling.
Unidentified craft
approaching at full speed.
- Okay, tracking station.
It's all adding up, Troy.
- Yeah, Thompson was sent
to paralyze Marineville
so that this craft could
come in and take over.
- Okay, Troy, get rid
of that craft.
[dramatic music]
[radar blips]
- I got it, Troy.
Craft dead ahead.
[radar blips]
[radar blips]
- Green 450.
Fire Sting missile.
- She's running.
- Acceleration rate six.
- They're gaining.
In range now.
- Fire Sting missile,
and don't miss this time.
[explosion booms]
- Well, I guess that's
ruined their little plan.
- Yep, another emergency over.
Okay, head for home, Phones.
[dramatic music]
- I'm sorry I caused
all this trouble.
I just feel I've come out
of a nightmare.
- You have, Thompson, in a way.
But it's all over now.
Luckily, there's no harm done.
- I guess we have Marina
to thank for saving us all.
- Troy and Phones did a
good job, too.
I think the least the
service can do
is to grant you 48 hours
special leave.
So all you kids go out
and enjoy yourselves.
Have a ball, and by the
way, the treat's on me.
- The treat's on you?
Hey, fellas, Father hasn't
come out of his trance yet.
[all laughing]
