Troy Tempest is on standby duty while a ship carrying a radioactive isotope nears its port destination. He is supposed to rest. While he does so, he ponders how he should dress to a costume party hosted by Atlanta Shore. Suddenly, he gets a summons to help the stricken ship. Or does he?

at 25 knots, commander.
All okay.
- It needs to be, lieutenant,
if anything happens
to that ship before it
reaches port at midnight,
we could be in real trouble.
- Why sir?
She's miles from the coast.
- If you spent less time
play acting, you'd realize
that she's going through
the north Pacific current.
And that means if her cargo
is exposed in the sea,
the radiation will be carried
right to our doorstep.
- Gee, that's serious.
- You bet it is, Fisher.
And take that stupid
disguise off your face.
- But sir, this is for Atlanta's
fancy dress party tonight.
I, I thought it looked good.
- The only way you
could look good
is to get a complete new face.
I don't know why Atlanta
had to make it

Commander Shore

radiation sickness.
- What's the Geiger
counter rating, sir?
- We don't know Troy.
Could be the missing
container is still closed
but don't take any chances.
You're dealing with EM-27
captain, and that means
if radiation hits you,
results are almost immediate.
- Yes sir, I understand.
Come on Phones, let's go.
[bold, adventurous music]
- The radiation's above
normal Troy, but not too high.
- Well, that's means
there's every chance
that the isotope container
hasn't been damaged.
- Now all we gotta
do is find it.
[clicking]

Can you get a fix on

- Nothing could be easier.
[sonar beeping]
Should be in sight
any second now.

- Yeah, but look over there.
[dramatic music]
- Well, they look like caveman.
- They must be a
primitive underwater race.
They found the isotope, they
can't possible understand
the dangers, if they open
that case, they're done for.
- We gotta scare 'em off.
- I'll turn on the searchlight,
maybe that'll do it.
- Look, they're
picking up the box.
- And there making for the
tunnel, come on Phones,
the underwater gear,
we've gotta get after 'em.
[adventurous music]
- [Phones] They could
be waitin' for us, Troy,
we don't wanna run
into an ambush.
- [Troy] We'll have
to risk that,
we've gotta get that isotope.
They must move like lightening.
- [Phones] They didn't
look very agile.
[adventurous music]
- [Troy] Okay Phones,
this could be it.
- [Phones] Ready, skipper.
[slow, somber music]
A subterranean cavern.
- [Troy] Take it easy Phones,
they're on home ground,
we're not.
Dive, Phones.
[dramatic music]
A primitive form of a
death charge.
- [Phones] Yeah, but at
least they don't explode.
What do we do now?
- [Troy] Well, if we stay
down here long enough,
they'll think they've
scared us off.
- Men from iron fish have
gone, they will not return.
- Good work, now let us
look at our treasure.
- It's gone quiet, let's
chance another look.
[harp music]
[cavemen chanting]
Yeah, they're in that
cave over there.
[chanting]
If there's any trouble,
fire over their heads.
We don't wanna hurt 'em
unless we have to.

Let's move in quickly
and surprise 'em
before they get a
chance to open it.

- I guess so, Troy, a little
bruised but no bones broken.
- They're smarter
than they look.
- We've fallen clean
into their trap.
- They don't want us to
take that box away from 'em,
that's for sure.
- I guess they think they've
found some sort of treasure.
- Yeah, but they'll find
out they've got a killer
in their midst instead
if they open it.
And now, there's nothing
we can do to stop 'em.
[dramatic music]
Somehow we've gotta get
out of this trap.
Give me a hand Phones, I'm
gonna try and scale this wall.
- Right.
[mysterious harp music]
[slow, solemn orchestral music]
- Close that case, or
you'll all die.
Don't kill us, we're your only
hope, don't you understand?

- Yeah, I'm okay, but
it's no good,
I can't make 'em understand.
They've opened the isotope case.

- He's dying, strangers
evil, they bring death.

If only we could prove to
them we're here to help them.
- Don't look now, but

- But the old man isn't

It will take a little
time for the magic to act.
- We will give you four
spears and then you die.

giving us a time limit.
- If old man not well in
four spears, then you die.

old man hasn't recovered
by the time they throw
three spears,
the fourth one if for us.

They're pretty hot in
their spear throwing.

the Shenandoah
reached port ahead of schedule.
- Does that mean
we're off standby?

better get into your costume
and get along to Atlanta's

It'll be starting soon.
