[Lupita] For the helpless,
there's plenty to fear.

Especially jackals.

For Shaba and Shabu,
a new born faun
is a treat.

All Tamu can do is hide.

And stay very quiet.

And very still.

But right now,
it's not food the jackals
are searching for.

They lost their pups
when ants invaded their den.

To a mother,
a threat is a threat.

All's well, but there's

This family

Home is where
you feel you belong.

For Tamu,
it's wherever he's hidden.

His neighbors are
whoever pass by.

To new eyes,

everything is wondrous

Today, the giraffes
are gathering.

From far and wide
they come.

Brought together
by a shocking event.

One of their greatest
has been felled.

Even for the mighty,

there's always one mightier.

If the black-maned males
can kill a giraffe,

no one is safe.

Those who flirt with danger

must know where
sanctuary lies.

A deserted termite mound
could make a cozy home.

What do the pups think?

It will take
some getting used to.

But with a little

The fallen giraffe
is now a treasure
to be fought over.

A chance for Zalika
to gather her clan.

They're so many.

The jackals must use
all their cunning.

When competition's fierce,

every mouthful
could be your last.

Sefu has been tracking Kali

since the pride fragmented.

It's led him
to her last meal.

Whenever food's involved,

he's ready to fight.

But has he picked
the wrong moment
to be brave?

The black-maned males

ready to reclaim
what's theirs.

[thunder rumbling]

Sefu's not fighting now.

No one is.

[hyenas laughing]

Sefu may run
but he can't run forever.

Only the jackals
are untroubled.

They go where
none will dare.

[roars]

One bite
and they're dead.

But when everyone's
fighting for supremacy,

lowliness can be
the greatest strength of all.

Whether we live out our days

or die before our time,

we always sustain
those left behind.

And so the cycle continues.

[growling]

Now Mzuri has
a taste for meat.

It's all she wants.

[growling]

Mzuri isn't used to sharing.

But could that be
about to change?

Among carnivores
meat feeds aggression.

And Dada is ready
to fight for her share.

[growls]

Mzuri uses a trick

[growling]

Dada uses a trick

[roars]

Patience paid.

Greed didn't.

This time,
Dada's keeping it.

Having something to lose

is what turns the fearful

into the fierce.

Fearing for his life,

Sefu seeks safety
in numbers.

He must make peace
with his fractured pride.

Time to forget
old tensions.

[roars]

And work
as a team once more.

But half of the pride
is now far away...

...and in no mood
for returning.

Without Kali
and her followers,

the pride will be no match
for the black-maned males.

They are not the only ones
who are dispossessed.

With the clan
scattered once more,

Zalika is back
raising her cubs alone.

[serene instrumental
music playing]

For the jackals,

a chance
to sneak in unnoticed.

The cubs would be
an easy meal.

But even jackals
aren't that reckless.

Anyway, there are
easier options.

There's being fearless

and there's being foolhardy.

[screaming]

It's not the first meal
Shabba's had to part with.

But then,
it wasn't his to own.

It rarely is.

For jackals,
scavenging is
the way to survive.

For Zalika,
it's a theft too far.

As so often,

they return with nothing
to show for their efforts.

But pups live in hope.

And are
endlessly forgiving.

Unlike Zalika.

She's out for revenge

with their pups as payback.

Again, the little jackals
are fearless.

To be small
is to be nimble.

Agility beats
brute strength.

For Zalika,
vengeance was futile.

Without her clan
as backup,

life is humiliating.

As for the pups,

they won't go
hungry after all.

After their encounter
with the black-maned males,

Kali and her followers
are still on the run.

But where to?

Kali led her lionesses

Cheka's rival, Bibi,

Now Cheka's young

To reclaim her power,

Zalika must bring

And how better
than through their stomachs.

[snarling]

This time
the cubs are alone.
