I'm lucky that I was safe tonight,

but after the last couple of challenges,
I feel like I'm fading away,

which is making me really nervous.

So, I obviously have some work to do.

I'm glad to be here another week.

I think it's Ariel and Shuga.

Oh, I didn't even think about
Shuga being in the bottom.

Shuga was, I think, really in her head
after her first look.

Because her Troll,
they didn't know that she was a Troll.

I feel, like, when it comes to Ariel...

first two looks were so strong.

[Nina] Her first two looks
were very strong.

She went on the runway on point,
like literally.

Now that we're the fifth challenge in,
Brooke Lynn is becoming the look queen.

And she's turning looks,
so, I think she's the one to beat.

I wanna know,
has anybody did anything with girls?

I've been in love with,
like, so many girls.

I understood what that difference was.

My coming out story
is a little bit different.

I told some of these girls,
but there's a lot more to it.

So, my freshman year of college
I just knew that I was different.

So, I just made the decision
to be out and be gay.

And then, my sophomore year,
I ran for student government.

And this underground hate group...

Underground hate group?

On campus, took it upon themselves
to start bullying me.

[exhales]

Broke into my dorm room,
carved "fag" in my door.

[Scarlet] What?

[Nina] Left voicemails
on my answering machine,

like, they were gonna kill me.

They used, like,
a voice decoder from Scream.

So, you have no stability,
because you can't recognize the voice.

There's no safety, because you don't know
who's calling on the other end.

[A'Keria] Right.

So, I was living this kind of double life,
which I think a lot of gay people do.

-Yeah.
-While I was out to all of my friends,

and my family didn't know.

So, because of this constant
harassment and bullying,

and, like, my life being threatened.

I was forced to tell my parents

because my friends are, like,
"You can't do this by yourself,"

and so, I call my parents and I said,

I told them that I was gay,
and I told them that...

Why I had to tell them,
that I was being harassed and bullied,

and having my life threatened,
and my mom was like,

"Do you wanna leave school?
Are you OK?"

My dad was just, like,

"Whatever, you're perfect.
Whatever you want to do..."

-[Scarlet] Aww...
-"You do."

And the next morning
my parents were on campus.

And I think we all know
it's not easy,

but the best part is, like, being able
to talk and allowing people in.

[Scarlet] I can't imagine
even going through that.

It's like a very scary thing.

But it was also the time period of,
like, Matthew Shepard.

I don't know if you guys remember.

Matthew was picked up at a bar
and left for dead,

in the middle of a corn field
on a fence post because he was gay.

And he died as a result
of all the injuries.

-So, like, that was scary enough, right?
-[Scarlet] Right.

To be out and to, like,
be yourself in a small town.

So, I've never talked about it,
and I got here...

And it's been something...
it's really important to share.

Right, right, right.

I'll tell you this though,
now the talk and the conversation

should be about our trans brothers
and sisters who are being murdered.

-Mm-hmm.
-Yeah.

'Cause it's the same thing,
and it's not getting attention.

It is murder that is happening to people
that are members of our community.

And, so, I think it's really important
that people have a connection

of history and understanding.

Matthew Sheppard happened
and it's still happening.

There's nothing I can say to anyone
that's going to make them understand

how scary and how awful I felt

and I know there's
so many kids that watch this show...

who don't necessarily
understand how terrible the world can be

and how important it is
to make this world so much better

by fighting for each other and standing up
for what you believe is right.

Life is scary right now because we have
asshole in the White House,

who is targeting people
that are different.

You, because you're a person of color.

Me, because I'm a homosexual.

You, because you're a woman.
Or because you're an immigrant.

Right, and all of that
being feed into these kids,

I think it's so important we tell
these kids that's not the norm.

The norm are the most beautiful people
who are themselves,

and who get to get to do all of these
incredible things by being themselves.

[Vanessa]
Nina's story made me realize

I should be out there
fighting along with all my sisters.

'Cause my voice does matter
and it will make a difference.
