I think we've heard enough.



While you untuck backstage,
the judges and I will deliberate.

[Brooke Lynn]
I feel fantastic that I'm still here.

I worked really hard,
and it feels amazing.

[A'Keria] I'm worried, like, I really
don't know how this is gonna turn out.

Like, I'm just coming off a win
and I'm trying to get another one.

OK, maybe I am feeling
a little pressure.

[sighs]

-Cocktail!
-[laughing]

[Brooke Lynn]
Girl, it feels good to sit down.

those were some

of the highest critiques
I ever heard.

This was, like, you.
Like, this is what you do at home.

So, to be able to make something
from scratch, that was you.

I think that's what was, like,
made it so amazing

because this is literally what you do.

-And we were so wrecked last night.

we're at a point

-And I did take a risk

But, like, I mean, I worked my ass off
and I think of all the challenges,

I felt like I really,
you know what I mean?

Rose to the occasion
to work well with you guys.

[Yvie]
I just think you had, like, a big plate

because Brooke Lynn obviously is gonna
bring some, like, dance-acality

and, Nina, this is what you do.

You write shows, you make things happen,
and you're an actress.

So, I think you had a lot to live up to.

And I have to say that you did, like,
you still turned it for me.

From what I could hear
and what I could see,

like, you were a presence.

-Yeah.
-Thank you.

I knew we did well,
I knew we made the audience laugh.

But we could hear you doing well
and making the audience laugh.

I don't think anyone's taking it,
like, we were horrible.

It's just, like, we were good,
y'all were better.

I could see that a situation
was actually going to happen

between Vanjie and Yvie on stage.

Wait, so I didn't write down
what I was gonna say?

I'm not saying you didn't write down
what you were gonna say.

You said the rest of us didn't.

You guys didn't plan
as much as I did, girl.

That's the tee.

I did plan.

Oh, my God,
I'm not gonna go through that.

[A'Keria] And it was just, like...

It could be read as a misunderstanding,
but at the same token,

it was just the wrong time and place

because I knew what it could
possibly turn into.

-Yeah.
-[A'Keria] Just from previous events.

I knew Vanjie was finna get heated,
so it was just, like,

"OK, cyst, just calm down."

And I knew you wouldn't have escalated
until she escalated,

but the way you delivered it
was going to make her escalate,

-so, it was just, like--
-I could see it in her.

[A'Keria]
Right, so it was just, like, let me--

-She had the fist.
-[A'Keria] And it's not calming her down.

I was fine.

[A'Keria] Because I think I agree
with you or I agree with her.

It's just I know what
this was gonna turn into,

and I knew if she would have
reacted the way she reacts,

it was gonna make you react
the way you react,

and it's gonna be a whole disaster

in front of a group of people
that we're trying to impress.

I was just trying to show the judges
that, like, I'm not just, like,

off in my head, that I literally
put in a lot of work last minute.

And I did write a lot of the flow,
I wrote the intro for us,

I just, like, off the top of my head
came up with our closing,

and I don't want them to be, like,

"Oh, well, what were you fucking
thinking about off in la-la land?"

When it really is the tee
that I was, like,

"Oh, God, she just, like,
skipped over all the shit I wrote.

Oh, she just, like, fucked this up

and now I have to find a way
to pick it back up."

I think in a competition environment,

it's more than fair to point out
some work that you did behind the scenes,

especially if it's my head
on the chopping block.

You better believe I'm gonna be, like,

"And I wrote this line,
I stoned that shoe."

I'm trying to show that
I deserve to be here

and I'm going to let the judges know
every little thing I did

to make sure
that this performance went well.

Yeah, true enough, you did write,
you know, our beginning and our end.

I think it was just
the way you had delivered it.

It kinda made everybody else look, like,
"Oh, girl, they didn't do anything,

and had I not been there,
it would've really been a shit show."

-No, no, see that's--
-No, I'm saying that's how it came across.

I know it sounded, like,
it was coming for you guys,

but you guys are all
fantastic at improv.

And when I got picked
into this group,

I was like,
"Oh, shit, I'm gonna get overshadowed."

And the one skill I have is that my
fucking brain works in a different way,

and that I can write out these things
and these skilled pieces

and that's all the tee was.

Well, I'm just saying, like,
how it came across was

Yvie failed because Vanjie missed a line
or A'Keria missed a line.

I didn't even say that it was

because you guys had missed
a line or this or that.

I was, like, because I was the person
who literally pieced together

all those little last bits.

You guys would've had personality
right there on the spot,

and that's the fucking tee.

I don't think that has to do anything
with the amount of work,

'cause we all have to do the same stuff
and remember what we have to say.

I didn't say it was about
the amount of work though.

I'm the only who hit all of the shit
that I wrote down, which is, to my...

to my credit and my detriment
because I wrote it.

Looking back now, if I would've known
you having to write, like,

I didn't know it was gonna affect you.
'Cause when you did it, you offered.

You're, like, "No, I think it's better

if we all do, you know,
we all brainstorm."

That's what you do
when you're in a group.

But if I knew it was gonna be
that kind of a thing

where it's gonna affect your performance,
of course I would have told you,

"No, don't do it, cyst."

That's not why it went sour for me.

It went sour for me because we are two
entirely different types of performers.

-Their group had a structure.
-Well, you have to deal with the cookie.

Like, structured, scripted flow
from the beginning, like,

whereas you guys were, like,
I'm just gonna, like, use my personality

and I can't pull it out
on the spot like that.

You know, I sat down and wrote, wrote...

'Cause you sounded like you were
the only one that wrote something down

and made your own script
and da-da-da-da,

whoopity, whoopity, whoo.
I was like cyst--

-No, yeah, I get it.
-You know, I went and I wrote my script.

I even wrote down
what you told me, like, for our intro.

No, you hella did.

At this point I know, Yvie is just Yvie,
and she doesn't mean anything,

but if there's one thing
that's gonna make me get upset,

it's if it's gonna affect my position
here in this competition.

Don't make me look like I didn't
do my part because that's not true.

Initially, I wanted to do
something more planned out.

-It's true.
-'Cause I knew the personality

was gonna come regardless of where I...
You know what I'm saying?

-[Yvie] It's true.
-If I have people that don't,

or feel more comfortable doing this,
I wanna play to their strengths.

I said, well that's part of being a team.

I'm gonna make sure...
And I said I can go either way,

but I would prefer...
I know the note I had, too,

was to write more things down
and be more planned out.

And you did do that.

So, that was the only part I was, like,
I might have to,

you know, correct you a little bit.
'Cause I'm not gonna...

Because that was my particular task,
and I made sure I did it.

Well, and that's the tee
and that's why I'm glad

that you did get to speak after me,
and be, like,

"No, girl I was writing and stuff."

-I'm sorry that it sounded like I--
-It's cool.

I didn't mean to, like,
sound like I was discrediting you.

It's just the fact,
when it all came down to it

is you guys also got to improv a lot more
and throw in your bits a lot more.

You can roll your eyes all you want, Silk.

I roll my eyes in the sense
that we are a team,

and, like, this is just the shit
we was given.

And we had to roll with it.

I know, and that's what I was telling
all of you this goddamn morning!

And that's why I was trying
to go 100 percent

and add the structure
wherever it could,

'cause we saw that that's what
made theirs fantastic.

If you felt, like, you were
overwhelmed as a team member...

you should've told us that you was
overwhelmed before we went on stage.

I told these bitches
I felt some type of way.

-I wasn't overwhelmed!
-[Silky] Because of my pads.

I wasn't overwhelmed! I just wanted
to make sure shit was polished.

-It was hard, this was tough.
-Yeah, fuck yeah.

-[Nina] So, like...
-[A'Keria laughs]

-What are you laughing at?
-I just have to laugh!

But I totally agree,
I'm not laughing at you, of course.

[laughing]

I totally agree, I'm listening.

We all worked our asses off.
We all worked our asses off.

-[Brooke Lynn] Yeah.
-It's true.

Like, I can say, by watching yours,
everybody brought it in your group.

They also worked really hard
and you're not discrediting that at all,

but you're making them feel some
kinda way by trying to prove the point

that you did write
the intro and conclusion.

I've never seen you show emotion.

Whatever critiques you guys say,
I do listen.

Like, I've been trying
really hard to push myself,

and that's why I went a different route
with just writing it down and stuff.

Everything I do is with emotion.

-Ain't none of this, you know.

Yeah, yeah, I've never seen you
get, like, emotional like that,

so what brought that on?

Feeling like I'm disappointing.

'Cause at the end of the day,
I don't really care

what everybody else has really to say,
you know, X, Y, and Z, it's all opinions.

And that's what I've been learning.

When it boils down to them two,
I do get emotional and I get upset.

It was just, it just happened.

I was like, oh, shit,
I couldn't even stop.

It just started happening.

It was sweet though.
I like seeing that.

Don't look at me like that, Silky!

[Vanjie] I don't really usually cry.

And it was sweet, I like that.

-What had happened?

[woman] Hi, Brooke Lynn, it's Mom.
I would like to tell you about

how I first found out that
Brock was into drag.

He said, "Mom, let's go to Value Village."

Value Village is a
secondhand department store.

It's my mommy!

I took a cart and Brock took a cart.

When I came and met up with him,
he had a cart full of women's clothing.

It's a very, very, very special moment

because I realized if you love somebody,
you accept them.

And I was able to accept Brock
where he was at

and it also made me realize
that God has accepted me where I'm at.

And I am definitely not a perfect person.

But, my heavenly father
never turns his back

and walks away from me,
and I was not gonna turn my back

and walk away from my son.

And that was the beginning of a journey.
I can't say it's been easy,

and I can't say I've always
done it right and well.

I'm not sure even what
that would look like.

But I have done it with my heart.

I used to think that children
were given to me

so that I could mold them
and shape them.

Actually, it's the reverse.

Children were given to me
so that they could mold and shape me.

You're kind, you're loving.

I've watched you suffer
a lot of bullying and rejection,

and it's been incredibly hard
on my mother heart.

But I've watched overcome all of that
with grace and dignity.

And I'm very proud of you.

And so whether or not
you come home with the crown,

you're my hero and I love you.

[sniffs]

[A'Keria] Oh, oh, boba!

[Silky] That was so sweet!

[Silky] Your mom's a very wise woman.

My mom is a mess,
but I love her so much. She's...

I do show emotion,
I do have a heart, I promise you.

And that's my heart, that's...
I love my mom so much.

She's been there for me since day one.

She's always loved me
the best way she knows how.

Like, she said,
we grew up very religious.

She grew up in this
extremely religious background,

but just to see her being able
to open up her mind

and change her way of thinking
and-- from how she was raised.

'Cause that's a very hard thing to do
when you're raised a certain way,

to change your mentality,
and the way she's been able

to do that for me
and just accept me and love me.

She has always been just the best mom.

I told her I was
auditioning for the show

so she went
and she watched season eight.

[laughing]

Like, "Mom, what'd you think?"

And she was, like, "That Kim Chi
can't walk very well in heels."

[laughing]

My mom is shady!

[A'Keria] She's so cute!

But, like, no, you've just seen her.

She's, like, she's such a sincere,
wonderful, sweet, amazing person,

and I love her so much
and that was amazing to see.

And now y'all get to fucking see emotion,
so, fuck you!

[Yvie] Wait, can you turn around
'cause I'm directly behind you.

I wanna see a tear.

I felt like I gave it my all,

and just prove to them

why I deserve to be here.

I'm, like, super emotional,

and I'm trying to pull myself together
so that I can just do what I need to do

and that is to slay the lip sync.

to be in this workroom, to be surrounded

I want people to know that
it doesn't matter where you come from,

or what your background is,

how old you are, like,
if you have a dream,

it is possible to fulfill it.

I'm 40, I quit everything
to be a drag queen,

and this is where I ended up,
and that to me is insane.

You know?
It's possible, you can do it.

Believe in yourself and take the risk.

If you would've told me,
like, ten years ago

that I would be a drag queen,
I'd have laughed at you,

but, um, this experience has just
solidified for me

that I've made
the right choice for my life.

This is crazy.

Well, this isn't the last of me,
that's for sure.

I know I'll probably cry myself
to sleep tonight,

and I will be disappointed
that I didn't take home the crown,

but you can't take away, like,
all the amazing experiences I had here.
