Rookie Blue (2010–2015): Season 5, Episode 10 - Fragments - full transcript

Sam offers Andy a key to his apartment but she refuses. Duncan returns to active duty and requests to ride with Andy. Chloe and Andy are stopped while on patrol when a Parking attendant chases a car on foot after the driver didn't pay but moments later an I.E.D explodes in the parking structure which left one woman injured. A second bomb goes off in downtown, killing one and injuring 6, which makes the detectives think it's a mob hit aimed at eliminating Aiden Kelly, head of the Irish mob. When Duncan makes a rookie mistake he is handcuffed in a car wired with a bomb by a father seeking revenge. Someone from Sam's past returns and Gail makes a steady move towards her future.

Mm!
[ alarm beeping ]

Why don't you just
reset that thing?
Mnh-mnh.

Why? We wake up every morning
before it anyway.

If you keep staying over,
we're just --

We're not even gonna
need it anymore, right?

I know.
I'm a total distraction.

[ chuckles ]

I mean, you hardly
have time to shave,

Shower in the morning.

Who needs to shave?
I think I'd rock a mustache.

[ chuckles ] really?
Totally rock it.

Okay, well,
you know what?

You're your own person.
That's fine.
[ chuckles ]

But wait till after
the commissioner's gala.
Oh. [ chuckles ]

Are you going to that?
No, no.

Oh, yes, you are.
You're going to that.
We are.

Well, let me guess --
you bought a dress?

Of course I bought a dress.

But it's what I bought
for underneath

That you're
gonna want to see.

That reminds me of something.

[ clears throat ]

What?

[ metal clinks ]
¶ soon the rose,
like the first flower...¶

Got something for you.
Oh, yeah?

[ inhales sharply ]

¶ and I'll make my throne
if you hold it down, baby ¶

Hmm. What's that?

What is that?
That's a key.

That's the key
to my heart.

It also happens
to open the front door.

Mm?
Mm.

No thanks.

¶ I just want you closer ¶
huh?

I mean, next
you're gonna be asking me

To do your laundry
and feed the cats.

¶ I just want you closer ¶
I don't have a cat.

I just thought it would be,
uh, more convenient.

Well, convenience is boring,
and I am not boring.

I am a stallion,
and I cannot be tamed.

Stallions are boys.
Well, whatever.
You know what I mean.

I'm getting us coffee.

¶ I just want you closer ¶

Nick.
Which color do you like?

Oh, no.
I'm not doing this again.

No, no, no. It's
a really important decision.

Yes, and it has nothing
to do with me.

You should ask dov.

I-I can't tell dov what my dress
is gonna look like.

It's a thing.

Yes, it is a thing --
a wedding thing.

Gala's a work function.

Don't do that.

Don't call it
a "work function," okay?

It's taking
all the magic out of it.

You don't get it.

You guys have
nothing to worry about

Except what color
your tie is.

We've got the dress,
hair, jewelry, shoes.

Shoes!

I can't believe
I forgot about the shoes.

I have to build the outfit
from the shoes up.

Okay, now what color are
gonna make my feet look small,

But not in, like,

A "you have really small,
creepy feet" kind of way.

Nick.

Hmm?

Oh, uh --
color?

Red?
Yep.

I look amazing in red.
See?

I knew you
were gonna help.
Mm-hmm.

Oliver:
Okay, I got one more thing.

I've noticed that not everybody
has picked up their tickets

For the gala this Friday.

Okay, I'm going to remind you
attendance is not mandatory,

Which passive-aggressively means
that I fully expect

To see each and every one of you
there, all right?

If not to witness
my snappy new suit

That totally
makes my eyes pop, okay?

Excited.
I know. I am.
You have to see it
to believe it.

Get there.
Okay, that's it. Get out.

[ indistinct chatter ]

Sir.
Yeah.

What is duncan
doing back here?

[ sighs, clears throat ]

Moore had his gun
returned to him today,

So he's officially
back on active duty.
[ in distance ] yeah.

Uh, he showed up in my office
this morning

And wanted
to bury the hatchet.

Oh.
And bury the hatchet --

I'm not even sure that you can
say that anymore.

I feel that you can't.
I mean, I don't know, but --

Regardless, he requested
to ride with you today.

No.

What? Does he forget
everything that just happened?

You know,
the backstabbing --
no. I know.

Like it or not,
he is here.

He's on this platoon,

So you're gonna have to figure
it out with him eventually.

Well, then, fine.
I will...Eventually.
Cool.

I'll take him.

You'll ride with him?

Yeah, why not?

I just won't turn my back
or try anything too police-y.

It'll be like
adventures in babysitting.

Done.

Thank you.
I owe you one.

Oh, don't thank me yet.

I'm supposed to ride
with price.

Eight hours
of hearing her talk

About her dress
for this commissioner's thing,

You might wish
you were stabbed in the back...

In the neck...
In the face.
[ laughs ]

Gail.
Hmm?

Hi.
Hi.

I've got a problem
with a case.

It's one you worked
a few months ago.

You filed a report
that's full of inconsistencies.

Can we talk
somewhere privately?

How about in here?

I didn't work this case.
I don't even recognize --

[ moaning ]

[ both breathing heavily ]

Okay.
[ sighs ]

Wait --
can he see us?

He wishes.

[ sighs ] what the...
What the hell is going on?

[ chuckles ]
I miss you.

What about
your somebody else?

We broke up.

She said
I wasn't over my ex.

[ chuckles ]

[ both breathing heavily ]

[ chuckles ]

Mm.

Wait, wait, wait.
My god. Wait.

Okay, I know.
I mean, we -- we've got to talk,

And can we talk tonight?

I will make you dinner,

And I've got this incredible
bottle of barolo.

I can't tonight
'cause I have a thing.

Oh.

Yeah. Yeah.
But maybe tomorrow.

Okay. Let's do tomorrow.

I should get back to work
anyways.

[ chuckles ]

[ door closes ]
[ clicks tongue ]

[ siren wailing ]

Mcnally didn't want
to ride with me, huh?

Is that
a surprise to you?

[ chuckles ]
no, I guess not.

We got water
under the bridge. I get it.

[ chuckles ] yeah, you kind
of lit that bridge on fire.

Hey,
it wasn't all me, okay?

And besides, I know
I'm not the only one at 15

That she got
on the wrong side of.

Oh, yeah,
what's that supposed to mean?

I heard things, you know,

About you and her and how she
dropped you like a hot rock

When detective swarek
got shot.

Well, that's not quite
how it happened.

[ police radio chatter ]

Okay, so what happened?
Duncan, stop talking.

Okay.

[ police radio chatter ]

Are you okay?

Yeah.

You're a liar.

Okay...

Look, uh, I can sense that
you're stressed about something.

I can see it, okay?
Oh, really?

I have an eye for these things
right here and right here.

[ police radio chatter ]

Sam gave me a key
to his apartment this morning.

Shut...Up.

That's like practically
a marriage proposal.

I didn't take it.

You didn't? Why not?

Because things are really great
with us right now.

I don't want
to screw it up.

[ police radio chatter ]

What? Is that crazy?

No, it's stupid.

It's not stupid.
Okay.

Sounds to me like you
are still holding on
to a past experience

That has left you
superstitious.

But if you
don't let this go,

You're gonna be the one
that blows it apart.

Mm.
Look, happy is good.

Happy should not
make you nervous.

And everyone knows
you always take the key.

[ tires squeal ]

Hey! Get back here!

Stop!

[ screams ]
hey, sir!

You need to calm down
a minute.

Did you see that?!
He just ripped me off!

Just because
the gate is broken,

It doesn't mean
that parking's free!

He's the third one
this week.

Okay. Did you get
his license-plate number?

Are you gonna
go after him or not?

No, you're gonna calm down
and go retrieve the sign.

Are you serious?

[ police radio chatter ]

[ sign clatters ]

$15 an hour?

I'm surprised more people
don't park and dash.

[ explosion, alarm blaring ]

1504. Uh, stand by.
We might need backup.

You need to stay there.
Do not move!

Man: Copy that, mcnally.
We're standing by.

[ people shouting, coughing,
alarms blaring ]

Oh, man.
Where'd it come from?
I don't know.

[ people shouting indistinctly ]

Come on, go!
Please hurry!

[ coughing ]

Here we go.
There's smoke.

Exit's that way, guys!
Come on, guys! Out!
Please go!

[ coughs ]

Aw, man. Okay.

[ coughing ]

Andy: Hey. It's the police.
Please keep moving.

Chloe: Let's go.
Clear the building, please.
We're good.

Let's go.

[ coughs ]
you okay?

Yeah, and you?
Yeah.

[ coughs ]

Ohh. Oh, my god.

Sir, please, you need
to clear the building now.

Down the stairs.

[ coughs ]

Ma'am, are you okay?

You need to get out,
and you need to take
those stairs now, okay?

Quickly.
Clear the building!

[ alarms continue blaring ]

Okay. Oh, god.

[ coughs ]

Dispatch, this is 1504.

We need etf and fire
immediately.

We think there's been
an explosion.

Oh, my god.

Hello?!
[ breathing heavily ]

Is anyone in here?!

Hello?!

Whoa!

Anybody?!

[ coughing ]

Chloe!
Dispatch, this is price.

We need medics right away
to our location.

Aah!
Are you okay?

Ow! Yes.

Man: Copy that, price, mac.
We're two minutes out.

She's alive.
[ breathing heavily ]

[ sirens chirping, wailing ]

Chloe: And that was it until
fire and the emts showed up.

Oliver: Price.
Thank you. Hi, sir.

Thanks, guys.
What do you got?

Uh, one victim --
she was unconscious but stable.

The, uh, medics
just took her to memorial.

Okay, are you and mcnally
all right?
Yeah, yeah.

I mean, andy cut her hand,
but it's not serious,

And swarek and nash
just went inside, so...

All right, headquarters

Is gonna send
the command truck down here.

I want you to clear
all the civilians

From either side
of the street.

You're gonna keep
this scene contained, okay?
Copy that.

Are you all right?
You know it.

[ sirens wailing ]

Man:
There is structural damage.
Thanks again, guys.

[ indistinct chatter ]

So, are you gonna tell me

That this was
an accident, right? Please?

Afraid not. Bailey confirmed
it was some kind of ied.

Man: [ in distance ] can we get
that test kit over here?

Okay, so, last one of these
was -- what? --

Four years ago
in that diner in the junction?

I guess we've been lucky.

This place --
it doesn't look like

They were trying
to hit many people.

Yeah, there would've way been
way more damage, right?
Yeah.

It's got to be targeted.

Probably just trying
to kill whoever's inside.

Driver's the victim?

Mcnally found a set of keys
near her that match.

Looks like she was
on her way back to the car

When it blew up.

She got knocked back,
hit her head.

You have an I.D.?

Nothing on her.
Plate got destroyed.

Bailey's crew
will secure the area,

And we'll get in there
for a closer look.

All right, keep it clean,

And the stitches will be able
to come out in a couple days.

Okay.

Hey, if that scars,

You'll be able to get a classy
hand tattoo to cover it up.

[ chuckles ] do you know
how long I've been waiting

For an excuse to do that?

All things considered,
I'm pretty lucky.

Someone jumped the toll
right before the explosion?

Yeah, he was driving
this, uh, blue hatchback --

Had a roof rack.

Nick, I swear to god

I have seen that car
before somewhere.

Did you get a plate?
Nope.

Traci already checked --
the place doesn't have cameras.

Well, what about
along the street --

Convenience store, atm?

Yeah, that could be
worth a shot.

Okay, okay.
You check the east side.

I'm gonna
check the west side.

Let me know
what you find, okay?

All right.

[ police radio chatter ]

[ siren wails ]

Hey.
What are you doing here?

Staff sent
a bunch of us over

To cover patrol
while you guys are here.

Oh.

Heard 15 was on scene
when it happened.

Uh, yeah, andy and I
were the first ones in.

It was --
looks like a car bomb.

Damn. Anyone hurt?

Uh, yeah, a woman,

But they think
that she's gonna be all right.

Thanks.

Well, it's good to see
you're all in one piece --

Even though
you're all covered in crap.

Look at you.
[ chuckles ]

Yeah, well,
there's stuff in the air.

I wonder if that's how
they make confetti, you know?

Like, boom --
instant party.

That was insensitive.
[ chuckles ]

Love the way
your mind works.

Yeah,
it can't help it itself.

Yeah, I know.
Love that, too.

Look, what happened when we
signed the divorce papers --

I know.
You don't have to say.
Okay.

Well, I was --
I was just checking

To see if you were okay,

And you are, so, uh,
I should get back to work.

Yeah, me too.

[ chuckling ]
you got something on you.
All right.

[ police radio chatter ]

Yeah.

[ camera shutter clicks ]

[ sighs ]

[ cellphone beeps ]

Hey, there.
Just sent you a vin.

Could you run it, please,

And get back to me
as soon as possible?

Thanks.

So, the key remote --

You figure that triggered
the explosive?

[ sighs ]
I doubt it.

My guys recovered what looked
like pieces of a timer,

And the explosion came
from underneath, not inside.

So, they put it under

And gave themselves time
to get away.

Probably, yeah.

Traci: Bailey?

Detective nash.

It's all right
if I come in there?

Sure.
Just watch your step.

Okay.

Hey, I've got something.

So, our victim with no I.D.
Was wearing yoga wear.

So I figure she's either
having a really casual day --

Or she actually
had a yoga class.

[ sighs ] yeah.
So I checked.

There's a place
down the street.

They I.D.'d her by description
as breanna kelly,

A student at kempton.

Well, if this is her car,
it's not in her name.

Just ran the vin.

It's registered
to a numbered company.

So why does a student
at kempton

Have a car registered
to a numbered company?

Either she's
more than a student,

Or she's, uh,
driving someone else's car.

[ sirens wailing ]

Hey, nick, no luck with
anything across the street.

You get anything?
Nick: Not yet.

Couple more places to hit,
but it doesn't look promising.

All right, let me know.
Duncan: Thank you, sir.

Uh, here. Take that.

Uh, if you remember anything,
give that number a call.

[ police radio chatter ]

So, uh,
nobody's seen anything.

Talked to like 20 people,

Handed out
a bunch of cards -- nada.

Well, keep trying.
That's the job.

Hey, you know
what the worst part is?

They -- they f-- [ sighs ]

They spelled my name
wrong on this.

They forgot the "n,"

So now I'm officially
officer du-can moore.

What are you doing?
Trying to make friends with me?

No, I just figured
at least we could talk

And put all that stuff
behind us.

Oh, and you think
this is a good time to do it,

With all this going on?

Well,
you wouldn't ride with me.

It's called self-preservation,
duncan.

It usually kicks in when
somebody lets you down

And then betrays you.

Hey, look, I was
at the hearing, too, remember?

We've both made mistakes.
Staff said it himself.

Let me be clear.

The only real mistake I made
was giving you too much credit

By not reporting
you earlier.

Oh, yeah, and trusting
that you wouldn't record me

And try to ruin my career

Just because I gave you
the benefit of the doubt.

Look, that was just
about finding out the truth.

That's it.
The truth?

Are you kidding me
right now?

Look, we got a job to do,
so just shut up and do it.

[ siren wailing ]

Ma'am.

Ma'am, you can't --
you can't come through here.

You have to go around.

No, around.

Downside of being first
on scene --

You start containment,
you're usually stuck with it.

Yeah, which means I'm gonna
be stuck here all day.

But, hey, at least they say
it's supposed to be nice, so...

So, I saw wes.
Did he want something?

Uh, no. Uh, his staff

Sent over some guys
from 27 division.

He just wanted to know
if we knew anything, so...

So, he wasn't
bothering you or anything?
No.

Dov, come on, look,

I know that you want to be
my knight in blue polyester,

But I can take care
of myself, okay?
[ chuckles ]

Look, if any weirdness happens,
I will tell you, okay?

Hey, "chuckles."
that isn't a limbo bar.

Get to the other side.

Man: [ in distance ] I'm sorry.
We don't know yet.

I ran a background
on breanna kelly.

She's the only daughter
of one aidan kelly,

Of kelly construction.

Head of the irish mob.

Car is his personal vehicle.

She only borrows it
once in awhile.

So this is starting
to make a lot more sense.

[ sighs ] yeah, somebody's
trying to kill aidan kelly

In the messiest
possible way.

Well, he's got some very
specific enemies.

Mobster or not,
we're gonna have to find kelly,

Offer him protection.

Oliver:
Bailey, load up, load up!
Meet me there, okay?

Wait for my go.

Hey,
what the hell's going on?

Sam, we got another one!
It's an intersection downtown.

This time,
there's casualties.

Oliver:
All right, come on, settle.
Listen up.

We just talked to downtown,

And unfortunately,

The second bomb was not
as contained as the first.

So far, we have six wounded,
one confirmed dead.

It's the driver,
michael o'neill. He's 42.

O'neill is the second cousin

Of aidan kelly
of kelly construction --

Ring a bell?

He's also
the second in command

Of kelly's less-than-legal
activities.

It could be that the
bomb was meant for
aidan kelly himself,

But he wasn't
driving the car.

So it was a mob hit?

That's our best guess.

Detective peck
and gang squad

Are running down
potential suspects.

The bombs were made up
of industrial-grade explosives

Used for building demolition.

So on top of the list
is sergei melikov --

Plumbing, heating, construction
king from thornhill.

Now, these two families have
bad blood that goes way back.

Not to mention,
kelly construction

Just beat out melikov's company
on a bunch of major contracts,

Including, uh,
riverside and the tower

Where the old
martin grove complex used to be.

Oliver:
Innocent people are being hurt,

So we're gonna
put an end to this,

And we're gonna
put an end to it today.

This is a list of all of
melikov's known associates.

You're gonna talk to anybody
that knows these guys

And find out
where they were today, okay?

Go on. Go do it.

Hey,
I think I remember

Where I saw that car
from this morning.

Do you remember
that, uh, housing complex

We had to help clear out?

Martin grove.
Yeah, it's gone.
It's already been demo'd.

Whoa. But we were wearing
body cams that day.

Yes, we did.
Dov, dov?

Hey, um, you remember when we
were wearing those body cams?

Do you think you could pull up
some of those recordings?

Uh, I think so. Why?

Uh, I need to check
something out.

[ monitor beeping ]

Mr. Kelly,
I'm detective nash.

[ sighs ] I promise you
we're doing everything we can.

But I'm sure you realize
we believe

You were the intended target
this morning.

This may not be
the safest place for you.

Do you have any children,
detective?

A son.

And if your son were hurt,
would you leave him --

Even if your life
was in danger?

[ sighs ] I'm gonna have
to place officers here
for everyone's safety.

You do whatever
you have to do, detective.

You know, your phone
usually rings to let you know

Someone's trying
to get ahold of you, right?

I was just
checking the time.

That's about 30 seconds
past the last time you checked.

[ monitor beeps ]

Oh. Oh, how cute.

The only friend you have

Is trying to make contact
with you, dov.

Is chloe still on scene?

I think so. Why?

I don't know.

There's a problem
with her body-cam footage.

[ keyboard clacking ]

[ monitor buzzes, beeps ]

Half of it's missing.

Is that bad?
Eh, it's probably
just a glitch.

I'll be right back.

[ intercom beeps ]

[ woman speaking indistinctly
on intercom ]

Lucas.
Hey, it's dov epstein.

Yes, I know I'm no longer
the high-score king.

Listen, hypothetically,
if someone accidentally

Deleted some video footage
off an x7 drive,

How would you go about
getting that back.

[ cellphone buzzes ]

Uh, hi.

Uh, yeah,
no, uh, yeah.

I'm -- I'm still
on for tonight

If -- if that works.

Okay, great.
I'll -- I'll see you then.

What is that?
Just a cup of joe.

Figured
you might need it.

So, uh, this is what
it's gonna be like, huh?

You're just gonna
hate me forever?

Well, like it or not,
I got my badge and my gun back,

Which means I deserve to be here
just as much as you.

That's the thing --
you don't.

You're here
because of your father.

Anybody else did what you did,
they'd be gone.

So, please, by all means,
come in every day,

Collect your paycheck,
you know,

Hand out your stupid
little business cards,

But do not think that
makes you a real police officer.

[ keyboard clacking ]

Ho! Knew it.

What --- what y--
what'd you know?

This car --
I'd seen it before.

I saw it this morning
before the explosion.

You got a --
you got a plate number?

Yeah, 685 4tm.

[ dialing ]

It's not in the system,

But I can call down
to transport.
Don't worry. I'm on it.

Sure.

Hey, yeah, this is mcnally
from 15 division.

Um, I need you to run
a plate for me, please.

685 4-tango-mary.

Yeah, call me back at this
number when you have it.

Thanks.

Hey, dov.

Dov: Yeah.
Are you still
reviewing chloe's footage?

Trying.

Okay, I need
to double-check something.

Can you pull it up?
Depends. What time?

Uh, it would've been
when we first got there.

Maybe 8:00?

[ keyboard clacks ]

Man:
Did you see anybody?

Or were you all
just standing around talking.

That's him!
That's the driver!

I remember he was angry about
a stolen bike or something.

[ indistinct shouting ]

You get his name?
No.

But now that I have
a face, maybe I can.

Can you print this?
Yeah.

[ keyboard clacking ]

[ printer whirring ]

Nick:
Uh, that one's mine.

Tracked down a list of every
martin grove resident ever.

Sorry it's like
a hundred pages long.

Great.

Any luck?
Yeah.

Actually, I found the driver,
the car, and I have his face,

But I have no idea
what his name is.
Hey, good.

Now we just need
to compare

The residents
with driver's license photos

Until we find your guy.
Yep.

Once this is done printing.
For sure. [ sighs ]

I'm just gonna wait

'cause duncan keeps
trying to be my friend.

Ugh. Been doing
the same thing to me.
It's annoying.

Really?
Made a case that he and I
were kindred spirits.

Oh, interesting. How?

We both have unresolved issues
with you.

'cause of the way
things ended with us.

[ printer beeps, whirs ]

Hmm. What?
Aw, it's out of paper.

Hold on.
I got it.

Hey, I think I might
have something.

Who's this?
I don't know yet.

But I think I saw his car
leaving the garage this morning,

And he was somebody I dealt with
at martin grove.

Russian.
I don't know.

He didn't sound like it.

I'm waiting on a call back
for the plates.
Good.

Hey, I heard from my guys.
We got eyes on melikov.

Any luck with the warrant?

Oh, yeah, I found
the right judge.

It'll come through
in about 15.

I'll etf to gear up.

[ telephone rings ]

Hello.

I mean -- I mean, uh,
o-officer moore.

You got a tip?

Okay, um...
No, that's -- and okay.

That's -- that's good.
I can take care of it.

[ keyboard clacking ]

Are you sure about that?

Okay, uh, do you have
a, uh -- an address?

Yeah, okay.
Um...Thank you.

Yeah, I got that.
Okay. Yeah. Bye.

Where are you going?

Um, get some fresh air.

Um, hey, don't worry.

You've got some...Real cops
to take care of it, right?

[ train alarm ringing ]

[ machine whirring ]

Excuse me!

Excuse me, sir.

Hey.
Yes?

Sorry to interrupt.
Um...That your car outside?

Why? Is there a problem?

Well, were you driving
that car earlier today

Out of a parking garage
on john street?

[ scoffs ]

[ police radio chatter ]

Is this about me
jumping the toll?

Wow. They call in
the whole cavalry here?

Really want
their money, huh?

Well, half of it
goes to city hall,

Lines a lot of pockets.

Actually, sir, there was --
or you guys -- police.

Helps fund
your investigations.

Well, it's --
it's not about the toll.

So, um, it's --

It's a possibility you might
have witnessed something today.

You know, one of your
neighbors saw the car
and called it in.

No, I didn't
see anything important.

I don't -- no.

Could be, uh,
you didn't realize what you saw.

Ah.
Either way, uh,

Maybe you could come downtown

And, you know,
answer a few questions.

It won't take long.
Promise.

It'll be cool.
Yeah. Sure. Okay.

Yeah, whatever you need.

I'm just gonna get my coat.

[ police radio chatter ]

You some kind of mechanic
or something?

[ breathing heavily ]

Hey, what's going on?

I feel like I'm missing out
on all the action.

Looks like the russians
are targeting the irish,

So they're
executing search warrants.

Geez. Here I was
guarding a sidewalk.

[ chuckles ]
hey, uh, I need
to talk to you.

Clandestine conversation?
What's up?

I'm going through the body-cam
footage you guys shot

The day of the evictions
at the housing complex.

Um, I'm sorry.
What -- why are you doing that?

It's just
part of the investigation,

But there's a problem
with your footage --

Half of it's missing.

Did you...Delete anything?

Um...

Yeah, uh, I think so.
Yeah.

Well,
why would you do that?

I mean, it's part
of the official record.

I-it --
it wasn't police stuff.

Chloe, that doesn't matter.
You can't erase anything.

Otherwise, all the evidence
is compromised.

I-I didn't know
that if you deleted something

That it...Got rid
of everything.

Okay, look, don't worry.

I'm running
a recovery program on it.

If it works,
no one will know.

No, dov,
you don't need to do that.

It's okay.
I'm already doing it.
No, dov, dov.

Dov, I-I left --
I left m-- [ sighs ]

I left my camera on
when I went to go meet wes.

Okay.

He kissed me.

[ scoffs ]

He...
Why didn't you tell me?

I didn't -- it --
it -- I didn't know.

Wha-- I -- [ sighs ]

It -- it -- it --
it didn't mean anything.

It -- it just happened,
and it was random,

And it wasn't like --

Epstein, downtown
wants to know

What's going on with
that footage you accessed?

Could you get on the
line and let them
know what's going on?

Right away, sir.
Right there on four.

Dov.

Dov.

[ sighs ]

Hey, check it out.
Finally got a hit on our guy.

His name
is theodore mcdonald.

Lived at the martin grove
complex the last two years,

But there's no
updated address for him

And no vehicle
registered to his name.

So whose car
was he driving?
Mm-hmm.

Hi. Yeah,
this is officer mcnally

Calling again
for 15 division.

I called
about a plate earlier.

Yeah.

Great. All right.

Okay, so, the car
was actually registered

To vera mcdonald --
75 years old.

Ah, teddy was driving
mommy's car.
Aww.

I guess I better go talk to her,
see if she knows anything.

You want to come?
Yeah.

I, uh, used to have a partner
around here somewhere.

Duncan, nick.
What's your 20?

Oh, his battery
is probably dead.

Yeah, I'll try him
on his cellphone.
Let's go.

[ cellphone buzzing ]

[ police radio chatter ]

[ groans ]

[ gun cocks ]

[ buzzing continues ]

[ weakly ]
please don't do this.

It's already done.

They had plenty
of chances to stop,

And they didn't.

Then again...

Can't ask a snake
to bite its own tail

And expect it to listen,
can you?

So you have to cut it off

And then bring your own heel
down as hard as you can...

To crush it.

[ screams ]

Anything from duncan yet?
Nope.

Not exactly making a great
impression his first day back.

What's it say on ted?

Well, his only prior is,
uh, disturbing the peace --

Summerfest parade
last year.

[ monitor beeps ]
oh, wait. Hold on a second.
There's another case.

But he was a victim.

[ police radio chatter ]

Whoa.

You remember that bombing
that happened at the diner

At the junction
four years ago?

He was there.

[ monitor beeps ]

There was another victim --
brendan mcdonald, 12 years old.

And he didn't survive.

Uh, what day is it today?
It's the 18th.

The diner
was four years ago today.

Officer moore,
this is officer collins.

Please respond.

Nothing?
No.

I'm going around back.

Dispatch, this is 1504.

Please send backup
to this location.

Possible 10-33.

[ banging on door ]

This is the police!
Open up!

Nick, get back here.

Duncan?

Duncan?

Where's mcdonald?

I think he's -- he's gone.

I heard
his car take off.

Okay, we're gonna
get you out of here.

Andy, whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa!
What?

Don't touch.
Don't touch.

What is it?

What -- what do you --
what do you guys see?

[ both sigh ]

He's wired.

We can't move him.

This is mcnally.

I repeat, we need bomb squad
at this location immediately.

We have an officer
wired to a device.

Man:
Copy that, mcnally.

I got a better look at it.

There's a digital timer.

We've got
less than 10 minutes.

Seriously?

They're way out.

They're never gonna
make it in time.

Guys, what is going on?

Okay, duncan,
here's the thing.

Bomb squad is on their way,
but it looks like we might
have to do this ourselves.

Uh, w-w-why don't you
just open the door
and just let me out?

We can't.
We can't touch the door.
It's wired.

That'll set it off, all right,
you got to sit there.

You got to sit really still
while we figure this out.

Okay, I'm gonna
call bomb squad.

I'm gonna get them
to walk us through it.

No, no, I'll do it.
I'm fine. I got it.

You go outside. Make
sure no civilians get
close to the building.

I don't care about them
right now!

I have experience with this.
I'm not leaving!

Look, if you stay, I'm just
gonna be worried about you.

I won't be able to focus,
all right?

Go! Go! I got it.

We're gonna
get you out of here.

[ police radio chatter ]

Collins, y-you've really
done this before?

[ sirens wailing ]

Uh, collins, we got
a team on the way,

But they're still
at least 10 minutes out.

Are you sure
that you're up for this?

Nick: Yes, sir.
Okay.

Nick, I got --
I got bailey here from etf.

He's gonna walk you
through this, all right?

Collins, first,
I need you to relax.

Don't touch anything.

Just let me know
what you see.

Uh, looks like
a couple big deli sausages

In white plastic wrapping.

Industrial explosives.

How many?
There's three.

That's a lot, huh?
What else do you see?

Uh, there's some leg wires
running in underneath,

A digital timer --
just over six minutes.

Here's what we're gonna do.

We're gonna get the detonator
away from the explosives.

Now, it's gonna be
buried in there,

So you're gonna need
to cut that tape away.

All right.
Careful.

Copy that.
Cutting the tape.

Get back
into your house now!

I'm serious. Go.

Excuse me, ma'am.
Can you move back?

Way back.

Duncan:
Hey, boss, you there?

Duncan?
What are you doing?

I ju-- I just wanted
to talk to you.

No, what you need to do
is stay still, okay?

We can talk later.

Uh, there
might not be a later.

Please.

Go ahead.

Um, I-I just wanted to --
to say that...

Um, I'm sorry --

You know, everything I did,
all the screw-ups,

Leaving you with that kid.

I wanted to go in that house.
I did.

You know, but I was scared.
You know, I-I just froze.

And -- and I-I didn't want
to record you like that,

Make you look bad.

But my stepdad --
he -- he said...

Anyway, that's -- that's not --
that's not your problem.

But you were right.
I don't deserve to be here.

Well, maybe here, sitting
on this bomb like an idiot.

'cause it's true, you know?

I'm not a real cop,
not like you guys.

Hey, can --
can you do me a favor?

Can you --
can you just tell --

Tell the other guys that, uh,

I'm sor--
[ radio beeps ]

Duncan?
[ static ]

[ groans ]
[ radio beeps ]

Ah, now my battery
wants to die.

[ sighs ]

[ timer beeping ]

All right, all right,
all right. I see the det.

It's just jammed
right in there.

Okay, with your fingers,
pull it out slowly.

[ breathes deeply ]
okay, okay.

Then you're gonna need
to get the detonator

Away from those cylinders --

As far as the cord
will let you.

Okay, uh...

That, uh...

That might be a problem.
I only got about four inches.

You're gonna need
more than that --

A couple feet at least.

Okay, well, can I, uh --
can I cut the wire?
No!

That is one thing
you cannot do.

All right,
then what do I do?

Should I try and pull it
out the back?

Nick, listen to me --
you've done enough.

I want you out of there now.
Sir --

That's an order.

Okay, what if -- what if I
try and insulate the charge?

It goes off, but it won't
set off the explosives.

It's too close
to be sure it'll work.

But if it could,
what would I use?

Something to
insulate the charge --

Foam or rubber
if you have it.

Then you'll need to tape
a secure casing

Around the detonator.

Collins, you don't
have time for this.

Nick, what's going on?

[ grunts ]

[ breathing raggedly ]

All right, I'm, uh, insulating
the det -- much as I can.

Bailey:
Collins, insulated or not,

You do not want to be there
when that thing goes off.

Yeah? I will do my best.

[ tape rips ]

Come on, come on, come on.

God. Please.
[ breathing heavily ]

Got it.

Oh, god. [ sighs ]

It worked.

[ sighs ]

[ sighs ]

Oh, thank god.

[ police radio chatter ]

Bomb squad is just
double-checking everything.

Yeah, that's probably
a good idea.

You lied to me.

You said you knew
what you were doing in there

Just to get me to leave.

Yeah, well, I like you better
not in a million pieces.

Nick.

Look.

That thing duncan said
about you and me...

Is it true?

No. We're good.

Are you sure?

Well, you tell me --
are you happy?

[ police radio chatter ]

Yeah. I am.

Then we're good.
Honest.

Okay.

I just got to see
these guys real quick.
Andy: Oh, here he comes.

Take my stuff.

Hey, guys.
Hey.

Um...I just wanted
to say thank you.

Well, you were my partner,

So it looks bad on me
if you blow up.

[ chuckles ]

What were you doing here
anyways?

I got a tip
about the car.

And -- and I know
I-I should've told someone,

But...I'm an idiot.

True.

But if I'd let you
apologize earlier,

Maybe you would have.

[ siren chirps ]
nick: Hey, yo.

This party just
keeps getting bigger.

Oh, yeah, sam said

Intelligence was sending
somebody over to help out.

Seriously?

Come on, man.

Duncan:
Who is it?

That is marlo cruz.

Just sam's ex-girlfriend.

Yay.

Mcdonald
was on those tapes.

Intelligence
wants me to come by

And file a report
on what we found.

Okay, just --
just stop a sec.

Don't worry.
I got your footage back.

You won't get in trouble.
And, no, I didn't watch it.

The kiss --
it didn't mean anything,

And you have to believe me.

If it didn't mean anything,

You wouldn't have had
to destroy the evidence.

Dov, you have to trust me.

Trust you?

You've been lying to me
for months,

Then you turn around
and do this?

I can't trust you.

[ school children yelling
indistinctly ]

Hi.

Gail?
You must be lauralee.

It's nice to finally meet you
in person.

I read your profile,

So I feel like
I know you already.

It's so weird putting yourself
down on paper like that.

I'm surprised
you could make it.

I heard you guys
had a rough day.

Yeah, it was, but that --
that doesn't mean

That I don't have time
for other things --

You know,
the important things.

How is she?

Sophie's
a tough little girl.

I understand that you were there
when her mother died.

Well, actually, no,
her mom died in the hospital.

I've just spent time
with sophie,

And I-I really care
about her.

Gail, I feel
that I should warn you

That the adoption process
isn't easy or quick.

¶ keep my eyes open ¶

Then let's get started.

Okay.

¶ my heart closed,
and my ears peeled ¶

¶ welcome to the inner workings
of my mind ¶

I didn't know
she was in intelligence.

I thought she was
taking time off work.
Uh, yeah.

Apparently, she's been back
on the job a couple of months.

You haven't
spoken with her since, uh --

I called her a few times.

I left a few messages,
uh, to check up on her.
Really?

She didn't return my
phone calls, so I-I left --

Very, very kind of you.

Hey, marlo.

Mcnally.

Sam.

Good to see you.

Yeah, you too.

And, um, good work.

Mcdonald wasn't even
on our radar before today,

But, uh, we're building
a profile, motive.

I would say
probably revenge --

Maybe justice
for his son's murder.

Yeah. Looks like that.

¶ glowing bright ¶

So, he's got explosives
and a vendetta,

And he's still out there
somewhere.

Right, and at this point,
we don't know where.

So, uh, looks like

I might be working
with you guys for a while.

So we'll be wrapping this case
up quickly, hmm?

¶ welcome to the inner workings
of my mind ¶

¶ so dark and foul
I can't disguise ¶

[ sighs ]

¶ hurricane ¶
