- [Narrator] It's time for

Commander Cash!

- Oh yeah, my dad helps
research head wounds

How about yours, Bobby?

- He cleaned out the garage.

(all laughing)

- Ashamed of your father, Bobby.

Well, let's go talk to dad.

(Captain Cash whooshing)

Enough moping, citizen!

Time to do your duty to the community!

You're going to help science.

(machine zapping)

- Wow, dad! You're the best!

- Be your kid's superhero!
Be a super test volunteer!

- [Narrator] Since the animal
protection active 2015,

science has depended on
human volunteers for testing.

Please help by selflessly
giving your weekends

as a test subject and
remember, always buy products

with "No Animals Tested" seal of approval.

- Our top story tonight, power rationing

cripples Old Detroit for
the 4th straight week.

Looters and stompers
rampage in the streets.

OCP spokesperson Aubrey
Fox has this to say.

- Due to unforeseen shortfalls,

power rationing is unavoidable.

But make no mistake, OCP's commitment

to Old Detroit is unshakable.

Preserving its quaint neighborhoods,
its historic buildings.

Normal power service will
return as soon as possible

- I can't...

Get my breath, mom.

- Dad will be back soon, and
then we'll see what we can do.

- [Rocky] In a related item,

roving gangs of pillars
continue to use....

(ominous music)

- You're healing up just fine.

(ominous music)

- [Rocky] Zone 5, it's that time again,

curfew, and a big switch
in exactly 30 seconds.

Inside, everyone, lock up real tight.

- Let's show the world what
we are made of, Old Detroit!

(troopers chanting)

- Troopers!

The dark time is on us!

You all know what that means.

Old Detroit is open for business!

(troopers chanting)

(car engine revving)

(machine beeping)

- This is wrong.

I hope you're proud of yourself.

- It's a question of hard choices, Diana.

- This has nothing to do
with choices, it's policy.

Delta City spends money,
Old Detroit pays the bills.

- Nonsense, OCP's commitment
to Old Detroit is unshakable.

Preserving its quaint buildings,

its historic neighborhoods.

- Yeah, I heard Aubrey Fox too.

- It's the truth.

- Whose truth?

If you would come down from this tower

once in a while, you'd
know what the word means.

- For your information,
I get daily reports.

- Numbers, statistics, I
am talking about people,

real flesh and blood people.

- Of course, you'd know all about that.

- That was a low blow.

- It is.

I'm sorry.

- What you need is a good
kick in the conscience.

And we're going to give it to you.

- We?

- The world from street level.

- What in blazes are you talking about?

- A ride-along.

- A what? If you think I've got the time.

Just who's the boss around here, anyway?

(footsteps thumping)

- Let's roll.

(ominous music)

- [Man] Go ahead and shock
the flatline, then let's quit!

- [Woman] Okay, everybody clear!

- Officer Alex Murphy shot
to death in a line of duty.

- Legally, he's dead.

We can pretty much do what we want.

- There's a new guy in
town, his name's Robocop.

(upbeat music)

- Murphy, it is you.

(car exploding)

(door exploding)

- Wow!

(gun firing)

- So, this is the real world, is it?

No wonder that the insurance
companies are so rich.

It's a scandal.

- OCP owns insurance companies.

- Well of you, but that's not the point.

(engine revving)

(Joe laughs)

- It worked!

- Hey, don't all my inventions
work, most of the time.

Look who's back!

- You've fixed him!

- You bet I did.

(Josh coughs)

(ominous music)

- Tell me it's not so!

- Okay, it's not so.

- What are you talking about?

It's right here in black and white.

He left word on a com link.

- Who left word? What
are you talking about?

- The chairman. He's off with Robocopie.

He calls it "a ride-along".

- What? He can't do that!

- No-no-no, he's done it.

The chairman of the 4th
largest corporation on Earth.

- I mean, Robocop, this is
no time for a ride-along,

I need him out there!

(troopers chanting)

- Look right here, Captain!

Didn't we take that, their money-spitter,

out just the other night?

- Back in service, and home
on its own power.(laughs)

It's downright commendable
what it is, Tyree.

From now on, we do all
our banking here.(laughs)

Sound the charge!

(troopers chanting)

(machine exploding)

(Captain laughs)

(ominous music)

- [Announcer] Your
transaction is complete!

Thank you for using banks of Delta...

(ominous music)

(alarm beeping)

(car siren wailing)

- What's happened?
- Alarm.

Whitehurst Avenue B, a bank machine.

- A competitor's, I hope.

- Robocop has gone to green.

- Oh my God!

- It's okay, Fox, he's answering the call.

It's red you got to worry about.

Get on to the garage,
see if you can scan me up

some extra cruisers, anything that moves.

It's hefty crazy in the
zone is howling tonight.

- He looks worse.

- The immune suppressors aren't taking.

His body is rejecting the allograph.

- The doc said that wasn't gonna happen.

- Sure she did, maybe
she even believed it.

Get your head out of the clouds, Joe.

- Josh needed new lungs,
the doc got us some,

we're not exactly in a
position of pick and choose.

- No, we're not, are we?

I'm sorry, Joe.

I'm not blaming you,
you've done all you could.

- But it's not enough, is it?

(soft music)

It's never quite enough.

- Don't say that!

Come here.

(Josh coughing)

- What happens if I push this?

- A little girl disappears, believe it.

- How does it look?

- We'll have to go through computer,

too much traffic, I can't--

- Then do it!

Well, that's why we have the bloody thing.

Bea, you don't have to carry this division

all by yourself, understood?

- Sure, Sarge, it's just...

Don't worry, I'm fine.

- Yeah, we're all fine, right, Fox?

- Yeah.

- It is one of ours! Damn their hides!

They not only took the money,
they stripped the circuits,

the wires and the installation,
they're damn cannibals!

It's not electricity this
city needs, it's bigger jails.

(gun firing)

What was that?

- Gunfire, three blocks east.

(footsteps thumping)

(car door creaking)

- A person needs a suit of
armor out here, like yours.

Sorry, Murphy, no offense.

- None taken.

- I wonder how many
people would trade places

with you if they really understood.

The leading edge of
technology, but inside,

sometimes I wonder how you make
it through the day, my boy.

- Duty.

(soft music)

And memories.

(footsteps pattering)

(car door creaking)

- Don't worry, sweetheart,

we're gonna get you to the hospital.

(troopers chanting)

(car engines revving)

- Stompers!

(car engine revving)

- On our way, Josh.

Nothing to it.

- A stony structure.

There's copper here and loot.

Now troopers, remember who you
are and what you stand for!

Any man don't meet his
quota and I'll personally

whip his butt from here to Taiwan.

(all laughing)

- I'm sorry, dad.

- Hey, hey.

Hang on, buddy!

(ominous music)

- Okay, boys and girls,
do your worst!(laughs)

(car engine revving)

(ominous music)

- Ma'am.

And you got guts to green out, you pogo.

- We've got a sick boy here.

- Oh, that's a shame,
mister, it surely is.

But where'd I be if I had let that

sort of thing getting away?

So, where do we start?

- With me.

(footsteps thumping)

- Well, well, if it ain't Robodoo!

- Robocop, and you are under arrest.

(all laughs)

(footsteps thumping)

(car engine revving)

(ominous music)

(car door slams)

(car exploding)

(Robocop clanking)

(car engine revving)

(ominous music)

(machine beeping)

- Shutting down upper
extremity control circuits.

Excessive feedback overload.

(Robocop beeping)

Diagnostic summary,
lower limbs 20% mobile.

Upper limbs 5% mobile.

Weapon systems

inactive.

- We've gotta get him out of here.

- It might be better if--

- Listen, whoever you are!

In one minute those
stompers will figure out

they've won the first round and
come back for the knock-out.

Robocop saved us, you owe
somebody, you pay him back.

A 20% mobile limbs is
better than no percent,

so let's get him up!

(machine beeping)

- Robocop has gone to red.
I repeat, Robocop is red!

- I knew it.

I knew it.

(ominous music)

- You don't look like a cop.

- A cop?

I'm not a cop. I'm a journalist.

Come on, Robo.

There you go.

(car door slams)

(footsteps thumping)

(police siren wailing)

(car door slams)

- It's an unmitigated disaster.

The chairman of OCP lost in this hellhole.

- You mean historical Detroit.

- That's not funny, Sergeant.

I don't think you fully realize the scale

of this catastrophe, but
I will tell you one thing,

I'm not taking a fall for this, oh no.

I said right from the beginning--

- Mr. Fox!

Under the circumstances,
why don't you do us

both a big favor and just stuff it?

- I know you're excited, and
I know you don't mean it.

- Metro, this is Sergeant
Parks, we're here.

The cruisers are totaled,
and nothing else.

- [Metro] And Robocop.

- Officer missing. Robo's
gone, and the old man with him.

(ominous music)

(laughs)

- Captain! Captain!

(footsteps thumping)

(soft music)

- What is this place?

- A casualty.

A lot of good people worked here.

My father, one of them.

OCP said they couldn't compete.

People with good skills
cost on the scrapping.

- There's a price to progress.

(ominous music)

- See, Captain, I told you!
Didn't I tell you? See! See!

- Robot's in trouble, this
might be our lucky night.

- Stomp him when he's
down, just as you say,

stomp him when he's down. You
know, but only this time--

- Only what?

- Well, even all bummed up,

this guy's a pretty tough hombre.

I'm just wondering maybe we need

some reinforcements, you know?

- Trooper Tyree, for once
your shorted circuits

are making some sense.

- You mean it? You really mean it?

- Sound the call, I want every

son of a sewer rat crawl into this zone!

It's payback time!(laughs)

(ominous music)

(door knocking)

(door creaking)

- I wasn't expecting no party.

(footsteps thumping)

- Here.

(machine rattling)

Lets get Josh over here.

(door slams)

(footsteps thumping)

Let's get him down here.

That's Norton, some of the
skills I was talking about.

- That's Robocop! Why is he--

- Tipped off from a ram truck.

We were trying to get Josh
to Mediplex in Delta City.

Robocop and Mr...

- Jones.

- Mr. Jones here, bailed us
out of a jam of some stompers.

- What in the world are those?

- TGs, turbo generator. Run
on practically anything.

This one's running on food scraps.

- (coughs) That's extraordinary.

- Everything in is
based on old technology.

And if every living unit in Old Detroit

had one of these, we wouldn't
be so helpless right now.

We've been so busy plowing ahead

with high-tech solutions
for non-existing problems,

we forgot what we already knew.

Like the banner says.

(footsteps pattering)

- Hey, pal, you don't remember me, do you?

- Should I?

- I'll tell you something, Mr. Jones!

You walking in here is kind of, like,

the opportunity of a lifetime.

- I don't think I understand.

- Well, let me explain it to you!

(Mr.Jones screaming)

- Have you gone crazy?

- He deserves it. Mr. Jones, my butt!

He's a chairman of OCP!

- The chairman?

- Enough! Stop it, Norton!

- He's the guy who closed this plant down!

- What's it matter who he is?

The important thing is Josh,

getting him help before
his lungs give out.

I'm grateful to you, and
I hope Joe can fix you up.

But I want you to understand--

- I understand.

(footsteps pattering)

- And let's get to thinking.

(Josh coughs)

We don't have a lot of time.

(soft music)

(police siren wailing)

- Now listen to me, Sergeant.

If the people in the zone find out that

Robocop is down, there will be a panic.

- Yeah, you got that right.

- Yeah, but we can't let
them. All we have to do.

Leave it to me, I know exactly what to do.

It's just the matter of the right spin.

- Who the hell do you think you are?

Haven't the people in Old
Detroit been lied to enough?

All your promises, your plans,

the modernizing that never comes.

Did you ever think we might
be able to take it straight?

- Of course, you misunderstand me.

You see, I, I--

- And you.

You live here, sure you can bring Gadget

and where it's safe, but what about

the other people out there?

That's where my kid is!
My whole family out there!

That's where I'm going.

(footsteps pattering)

- Stop her, Parks, we can't let her leave!

- Bea! Bea!

Beatrice!

- Save it!

Word gets out about Robocop,
it won't come from me.

- I know that.

What I want to say is, if
it were my family out there,

I would do the same thing,
now, you watch yourself!

I want you back.
- Okay.

(footsteps pattering)

(door creaking)

- Oh, sorry, Bea.

- Parks, I distinctly remember me saying--

- Charlie, take over!
- What?

- We're switching back to
manual, keep me posted.

Gadget! Hang out and
keep an eye on things.

- All right, okay, so, I'll get started

on the press-release right away.

- Yeah, you do that, Fox, and
don't keep me posted, please.

- All right, well, this
shouldn't be that difficult.

- Don't worry, I'll show you.

- Yeah, well, the day I need
lessons from a pipsqueak.

- Oh, yeah.

(beeping)
What's that? What do we do?

- There.
- What?

I'm rusty, that's all.

- You'll be okay.
- Yeah, I know I will.

- You're sick too, aren't you?

- Yes.

- You wanna see my clown? It plays.

(soft music)

My dad made it.

- Your dad is clever.

- I know, he can fix anything.

Maybe he could fix you.

- Perhaps.

- Maybe you just need some
new parts or something.

That's what happened
to me, and I was okay.

For a while.

- You are a brave boy.

I have a

friend.

- When I grow up, I'm gonna
be just like you, dad.

- Jimmy, he is your age.

- What kind of stuff do
you and Jimmy talk about?

- We do not talk now.

- That's too bad.

I wish I could help you, Robocop.

(Josh coughs)

- You have.

(troopers chanting)

- Troopers!

There's nights, when the moon hangs high

and the copper cables run forever

and the streets open up like tulips,

waiting to be plucked.

Nights of full pockets and free women.

(troopers cheering)

Nights we dream about in
the cold and empty darkness.

This is such a night.

And troopers, this is the night

when Robocop climbs aboard
the Boot Hill express!

(troopers cheering)

- We've decided.

I'll try to reach Metro South.

- That's the other end of the zone!

- Yeah, but when I tell them
I can lead them to Robocop,

we'll get action.

I might even throw in your
name, see what it's worth.

- A good idea, but I'm
the one who's going.

Your place is here with your family.

Besides, I'm not some helpless puppy!

- You wouldn't stand a chance.

- Hey, he wants to go, let him.

You can't save a fool from himself.

- The chairman is right.

Joe and I must work here.

(soft music)

(door creaking)

(door slams)

(footsteps pattering)

(ominous music)

- That'd be far enough, big fella!

Hey now.

I know you.

I've seen you on the TV.

What a pack of 'eat your heart out'.

I do believe I banged in
the big chief!(laughs)

(upbeat music)

- [announcer] Give us three minutes,

and we'll give you the world!

This is Media Break, with Bo
Harlan and Rocky Crenshaw.

- During the continuing
crisis in Old Detroit

your Media Break team
is here, 24 hours a day

working just for you.

Right, Rocky.
- Right, Bo.

And this just in from California.

The Armageddon society
has again rescheduled

the end of the world,
this time for next Friday.

The spokesperson explained
that they had not

accounted for the fact
that this is a leap year.

Not more bad news, I hope, Bo.

- I'm afraid so, Rocky.

An unconfirmed report that
Old Detroit's crime fighter

extraordinaire, Robocop,
is missing in action.

Hard to believe.

- You don't suppose Robocop would have

taken a vacation, do you, Bo?

(Rocky laughs)

(ominous music)

- Perhaps, we can make a deal.

- I don't trade with the other side.

(Captain thudding)

- Nice work!

How did you know?

- Pretty damn clear you couldn't last

two seconds in the real world.

A stomper.

Not good.

- Not good.

(door creaking)

The stompers were out
there, they tracked us.

Norton is keeping watch.

How's he doing?

- We're working on the problem.

- You're working on the answer.

The only way we're
leaving here in one piece

is behind Robocop, believe it.

(crowd chanting)

- The word is out on Robocop.

- Okay, okay, let me deal with this.

This calls for a little finesse, okay.

Excuse me.

Now, people, my name is Aubrey Fox,

you've probably seen me on TV.

I'm here to personally assure you

that everything is under control.

(crowd chanting)

It's nothing serious, you have my word.

(metal clanking)

- Okay, I patched the
servo in the right arm,

it's no big deal, the actuator's okay,

we start working in the street.

Now, real problem is a power source.

- Go into it, I will talk you through.

Now begin with the braincase.

- No, wait a minute, I'm a mechanic,

I'm not a brain surgeon.

- Remember what you already know.

I mean, anyone who could design

and build those TGs has all the know-how

we need around here, Joe.

- Look, if I louse it up, he may never--

- We've all faced a time
when we have to take a

step beyond what we knew for certain.

Now's your time, Joe.

- That big, one of these
days you were always

telling me about, I guess it's here.

(soft music)

(crowd shouting)

- Good work, Fox, you're a natural.

- Those people are animals.

They don't deserve an explanation.

- Pleasure watching you work, Fox.

- Parks, I'm not impressed
with the security.

Those people could've killed me.

(Josh coughing)

- Okay.

The patch cord's checkout.

What's this flat thing?

- The interface between
brain and bionic systems.

If the brain link is
malfunctioning, you will have to--

- Yes.

I get it.

(ominous music)

My bet, there's a rupture somewhere

in the main power transmission.

Down about here.

Yes.

There it is.

Look, I can try to
bridge the damaged cable.

- But.

- I'd have to shut you down.

You'd need to show me.

It's long odds.

(Robocop beeping)

- Do it.

- Hold on!
- We don't have time for--

- We do about this, Robocop
and myself, in private, please!

Murphy, I approved your design.

A shutdown here, out of
a controlled environment.

Your brain boosts, the
implants that control

bionic function might return to normal,

but Murphy, the man,

may be erased, all of him.

Memories, you may not
even know your own name,

or that you ever had one.

- To be human

is to risk.

- Don't worry Robocop,
my dad can do anything.

- Here we go.

(car engines revving)
(troopers chanting)

(electricity zapping)

(door creaking)

- They're here! Right on my tail.

- Now, we find out.

(ominous music)

- Let's move out!

(Troopers chanting)

- Go, go!

(ominous music)

(Josh coughing)

(ominous music)

(machine beeping)

- There he is.

Let's go.

- I knew it! I never gave up hope!

(ominous music)

(footsteps thumping)

- Is something wrong?

- I'm not sure.

(footsteps pattering)

- Half in, out on the left
flank, the rest follow me!

- Are you interested, old man?

- Why not?

- Let's hit them where they live.

- Let's.

- Squad one, upstairs!

Two, down there, block them off!

We'll shut them down!

(door banging)

(thudding)

(man screaming)

(footsteps pattering)

(zapping)

(thudding)

- Yes! Now we're even!

- The hell we are!

(footsteps pattering)

(troopers screaming)

(footsteps thumping)

(police siren wailing)

- What's Murphy doing?

- The showdown, but I'm
not sure it's Murphy.

(footsteps thumping)

- You and me, cowboy!

(troopers cheering)

(car engine revving)

(Captain laughs)

(gun firing)

(glass shattering)

(troopers cheering)

(ominous music)

(glass shattering)
(Captain screaming)

(police siren wailing)

- Partner, you're headed
for the last roundup.

- Mr. Chairman! Mr. Chairman!
Thank God you're safe, sir!

Although I never doubted you
for a moment, believe me.

I've alerted the media because I knew

you'd want to share the details
of your heroic stand, sir.

- Aubrey!
- Yes, sir?

- Cut the crap, I'm not in the mood.

(soft music)

- Be careful, please!
He's been through so much.

We all have.

- Joe, before you go, I...

I just want you and Amy to know that

Josh is going to get the best care

the Transplant Mediplex has to offer.

No expense spared, you
have my personal guarantee.

- Thank you.

- There's just one other
thing, those TGs of yours.

They're interesting little doodads.

I presume you own the patent.

- We'll talk about it.

- Don't forget.

- Get inside!

(soft music)

- Listen.

Robocop.

- The name,

is Murphy.

- Of course it is, my boy.

Of course it is.

(footsteps thumping)

(upbeat music)
