This programme
contains strong language
from the start and throughout.

16 strangers from all walks
of life are living

in this iconic London tower.

Some seized power... Bloody Nora!
..and are the Rulers at the top.

There's a bar.

The rest have become Grafters...
Lift falling.

..living a life of hard work
in the basement...

It's grotesque. ..as they battle
to win up to £100,000.

Previously...

The Grafter alliance...

We need to think someone
that would help get six of us

up there. ..to take out the Rulers
grew stronger...

I'm a little bit suspicious
of Marina, and I don't trust her.

..and tensions in the penthouse
were rising.

You were asking...? Never mind.

Oh. When you live together,
you shouldn't be testing

your fellow Rulers.

Tonight...two new arrivals
burst into the basement.

Oh, my God! Hello!

Are you guys a couple?
No, nah! No.

PHONE RINGS
The next work shift...Hello?

..causes chaos...

No, no, no, no. NO!

THEY GROAN

The work shift was a little bit
of a shitshow.

..and another Ruler will fall.

I don't think it's fair
for you to tell me

I need to communicate how I feel.

But that wasn't communicated.

I'm sorry.

The gap between the top
and bottom has never been closer.

This is Rise And Fall.

It's all change in the realm
of Rise And Fall.

King James has ascended to sit
on his penthouse throne as a newly

crowned Ruler, and the basement
are about to receive a right

royal shock themselves.

Lift falling. Oh, guys. Oh, my God.

# We go down into the darkness
Like a stampede

# Charging.
Follow me now, follow me now

# Follow me down. #

Hello, guys. Oh, my days!

Told you it would be two people!
How are you, man?

Nice to meet you!
I'm Soph, how are you?

Hi! Isaak. Isaak. Joanna.

I'm Isaak. I'm 24.

I play badminton for my country,
represent it, travel the world.

How competitive am I?

I'd say very competitive.

In a team environment, that's where
I'm really my best self, I believe.

What do you do for work, on the
outside?

I play badminton for GB.

Do ya? Wow!

Let me smell you, you smell unreal,
mate. Yeah, I'm fresh!

I just got here. Oh, my gosh! Do we
have to wear this as well?

Yeah. Ugh!

My name is Moses.
I'm 23 years old.

I am a personal trainer.

My game plan is to keep my enemy
as close as possible.

Be friends with everybody,

make everybody like me.
So if there's ever any sort of

sneaky things going on,
they've always got my back.

What is that?! What is that?

That's what you've got to eat.

That looks like peppercorn sauce.
No, stop it. That's not
what you eat. For breakfast,

lunch and dinner. Oh, my goodness.
I've got to smell it.

It's fucking shit, mate.
So, boys, get used to it. It's dead.

When I got in, I was like, "Ooh!"

Everything's stripped back
down to the necessities.

There's no coffee? There's nothing.

I thought we'd get like coffee and
tea and that,

or maybe a bit of Vimto or Ribena!

This is the bathroom, fella. Oh, do
we all share the same bathroom?

Yes, same. Oh!

I didn't think it was going
to be as bad.

I think there's like nine of us
and there's literally two

places to pee and poo.

The water is Baltic all the time,
no hot water here.

There's no hot water?
No hot water at all.

Oh, I want to go! I want to leave!
I think I'm going to be the first
to crack.

I can't deal with cold showers.

Welcome to the bedrooms.

This is terrible. Wait, why are
there tissues next to the bed?

Because that's the loo roll,
isn't it?

Oh, do we get our own tissue?

Yeah. Yeah. You get your own.

If we run out, then what happens?

Good luck. Oh, my God!

Moses, he's a little bit of a whiner
already.

I think he's going to struggle
a little bit.

Hi. Sydney, right? Yeah. Yeah.

Sorted. What do you do, Sydney?

I'm a delivery driver.

Are you? Yeah. You're the one that
brings my parcels every day?

Yeah, probably.

Yeah. Sorry, what do you do?
I'm a personal trainer.

So you're going to give us
a workout tomorrow morning?

Yeah, if everyone wants one.

We need that, we need the kick.
First thing in the morning.
I got you guys!

Everyone that's in the basement
right now are good vibes.

Everyone looks like they're actually
positive people, so,

yeah, I feel good.

GREG: So, as the lads are settling
in downstairs, James is chatting

to fellow past Grafter Marina.

How was your shower?
Oh, my God, it was glorious.

Yeah.

We've been down there...

We know who's the strongest
and who's going to make
it work the best,

and I don't think there's anything
wrong in that or anything sly,
I just think it's the way it is.

Yeah.

And someone's got to take that step,
and it's going to be us.

But you also have to trust me.

And I'll trust you and...

James and I want to get
all the Grafters up here.

Everything kind of going
to plan for us.

Not in a malicious way, but just,
it's the right decision.

I know where I'm going to go with...

The next two people I think do,

it's going to have to be Rishika
and Rachel. Yeah, but I think,

I think that's really obvious.

Rishika's taking it far too
seriously.

I'm finding it quite like draining
to live with someone

like that. I agree. Tomorrow,

I'm definitely going to vote
for Rishika. At the minute,

I feel she's letting the game
take over her mind.

She's bringing the fun
out of it as well.

I know what I'm going with
and I know Matt'll do the same

once we've had a good
little word to them.

He will be on that same page.

And I think James will be too.

I think we can all see the path
it's going down, to be honest.

This is insane. I'm already ready
to go home to my double bed.

You've got a double bed?!
No, at home! Oh, right!

I'm living the penthouse life
down in the basement!

Do you know what it looks like?
Yeah, it's unreal.

But the characters up there
are very power hungry...

They're all dickheads!

Are you guys a couple?

No, nah! No. They just share beds
and...

And what? That's all we do!

Well, it's nice to meet you all.

Aw! Sleep well.

# Come party with... #

It's another day in paradise.

The Rulers are up and about
and getting their game faces on...

Morning! Agh!

..because tonight it's
the dreaded Fall vote,

which means by the end of the day,
one of them will be eliminated.

I can't lie, I slept well.

Did you? Yeah, I slept good.

You excited to go to work today?
Yeah.

I want to see what's going to
happen. I'm buzzing.

I don't think anything can be worse
than eating dog food.

So hopefully, it'll be an
improvement.

So, Isaak, what do your folks do?

My dad's a chef on an oil rig.

That's cool.
Mum works for NHS finance.

A very well trained family.
Yeah. Not too bad...

..from Wigan!

Wigan! Is there any other dwarfism
in the family? No, the only one.

Really? One in 25,000 chance,
I think.

Of what? Coming from Wigan?

No, you tit. Being born a dwarf
in an average-height family.

I'm the only one with dwarfism.
Oh, are you? Yeah. Really?

I think everyone's sound. Like,
really getting along

with the people,

whether that's them doing a game
or something, I don't know.

But I've took onto them quite well.

GREG: Up on the roof, Matt, still
unsure of Marina,

is trying to politely
and respectfully suss her out.

My head's a bit of a shed. I just
don't know

which way I'm going to go.
That's the same with me.

I'm very split. I'm very split.
Yeah.

You know, I think Rishika has got
a good heart, and she has led

really well,
but I think she's done a lot.

But I don't know whether
she's done her job, you know?

Yeah. Mm-hm. We'll see what happens.

I mean, I suppose the work shift's
going to be interesting.

We can get more from people.
Yeah. During that process.

Yeah. James will continue to ground
us as well.

Yeah. I'm interested to hear his
views tonight.

Yeah. Like we were for yours
when you came.

I mean, I still know them all
really well, but obviously

the group feeling's going to shift.

Yeah. But I'm confident
that I know each and every one

of them very well. Yeah.

AS VOICEOVER: There's just something
about Marina. I don't trust her.

When we were discussing how many
rewards to give to the Grafters,

we wanted to reward everybody.

But Marina was saying,
"No, we only reward four."

And we later discovered
that they appreciate every reward.

Marina didn't say that,
and that's a huge misjudgement.

It's too big of a mistake
for me to forget.

How tall are you? You're 5ft 11,
aren't you?

WHat?! Let's not take the piss
here, boys!

LAUGHTER
All right, calm down!

Isaak's got a great sense of humour.

I like him.
I like him enormously.

I've come in here basically
just to, like, change society's
views on stuff.

I think as a country,
we're far behind the ball. On what?

You know, like, people judging
each other and...

Oh, 100%. Yeah. I'm not really
bothered about being in the basement

because I want to be the underdog.
You're in the right place, then!

While Isaak adjusts to life
as a basement underdog, upstairs

in the penthouse, new Ruler James
is learning that life on top comes

with its own surprises.

Oh, my God, there's avocado.

This morning,
I'm feeling quite smart.

The fact that, like, the master plan
has actually come together,

I just feel overjoyed, I think,
with excitement and relief.

There's coffee. Yeah, yeah.

No! I've missed coffee so much.

Do you know what? I was thinking,

for me, that was probably
the thing I would miss,

I'd find the most difficult.
If I went down last night,

that's something I probably
would have asked for. Yeah.

So how have you been finding
the experience in general?

It's been tough.

It's been probably tougher
than I expected.

What about you? Have you found...?

Um, pretty good.

There was times where, like,
it was getting to me and, like,

I was really like...

..my head was, like, going
a million miles an hour.

I found, when I was going to sleep,
like before I fall asleep,

I just sort of debriefed myself
with, like,

"What's happened? How are you?
Am I good?

"What do I need to do tomorrow
to make myself feel a bit better?

"This has happened. I'm fine."

Yeah. Yeah? I'd fall asleep then.

James has settled in really well,

you know, he's got a beautiful,
calming aura about him.

Doesn't appear to have formed
a strong alliance

with anybody at the minute.

There is so much miscommunication
between the penthouse

and the basement.

This is where it's important, is how
we relay the messages to them.

Use your instincts.

You all work well together -

use that to your advantage...

..to thrive. Yeah.

The Rulers don't realise
who they've got amongst them,

and that's absolutely fine.

They don't need to see what's coming
cos they'll feel it.

My plan is the assassination
of the original Rulers,

and very soon the Grafters are
going to be running the penthouse.

With all this plotting, scheming
and dissent going on, it's easy

to forget that we actually have some
work to do sometimes in this place!

Look alive, you lot!

Attention, please. Oh, shit.

All Grafters report to the work
space. Yes! Yes!

Work shift today. I'm really pumped.

I'm hoping the new boys
roll their sleeves up and they go

in strong and hard and we get
as much money as we can.

Feeling very excited. I don't know
what's coming my way, but I want

to win some money for the team.
I want to do something at least.

GREG: Moses, you're right.

You're in for a treat,
as are my Rulers,

who are power walking their way
to that red room.

I'm excited to get into the
red room and see the vibes.

I am here now. I am a Ruler and they
need to know what I'm about

and they need to know that I'm not
going to be shy of any situation.

Here comes Daddy!

I practised that spin all night.

Worth it.

Hello again, Rulers.
Hi. Hello! Hello!

James, welcome.

Another Grafter up in the penthouse.

You're very comfortable here. Yeah.
Ruling never looked so good.

OK. Pleasantries over.
This is serious Greg.

As Rulers, your primary objective
is to manage the prize fund,

which currently stands at £20,700.

Well done so far.

Shall we find out what their work
involves today?

Yes. Yes. Let's do it. OK.

What the hell?

This is not what I expected.

It's like my nan's house.

Today, Grafters will work
a shift in the lost property office.

Their job is very simple.

Find items amongst the packed
shelves

so that the items can be returned
to their owners.

Oh, that's a mess. It IS a mess.

As Rulers, you'll be given
the choice of three items.

You'll pick one item and then decide

which two Grafters will pair
up to find it.

If there's any food, put it in your
pockets.

If they find the item within the
two-minute time limit,

then they'll bank money
for the prize fund.

If they don't find it in time
or they pick the wrong item,

they will fail,
and no money will be banked.

Here's the good news, Rulers.

If all items are found, £20,000
could be added to the prize fund.

But, remember, if they fail,
no money will be added.

So, lots to think about.

At least it's not a horrible one.
Yeah. It's going to be a fun one.

They're going to enjoy it.

I just hope they take the time
and don't get too overwhelmed.

I just trust that they keep
each other calm.

We should take that into
consideration

when pairing people up. Great.

Shall I tell you about
the first item? Yes. Yes, please.

First item is worth £1,000.

Oh. The Grafters must find one
of the following three items.

The first item is a deerstalker,

you know, a hunting cap

with the sides folded down.

Sherlock Holmes, basically. OK.

Second item is a metronome.

The musical thing that keeps time,

the tick-tick-tick. OK.

All right. I think so.

And item number three, crampons.

What is a crampon? Crampons are the
things you put on your shoes,

if you're walking through snow
or ice.

You have to decide now
which of those items

you'd like to be found and which

two Grafters you're going to pair up

to find it. What are you thinking?

For me, I'm feeling like more of
the deerstalker or the crampons,

to be completely honest.

Although the deerstalker
and crampons will be more obvious,

I think more people have experience
with music.

There'll be quite a few people
that will have played an instrument,

and I think that they will
then know,

some of them will know
what a metronome is.

Yeah. I think it's more universal.

I don't know, these are very
specific items to like what kind

of experiences you've had in life
and I don't know why Jeff springs

to mind immediately. I had Jeff as
well in my head.

For me, I know Joanna plays the
flute and so I know she'll 100% know

what a metronome is, but it's about
who we pair her with. Suggestion
with Joanna, I do

feel like she'll know a lot
more peculiar things,

and I think she needs to go
a little bit later.

Do you know what? I feel like, OK, I
know we want to save Joanna till the

end, but we don't know what items
are going to be coming up later.

Yeah, I think we should possibly
put her in there.

Yeah. Joanna and Jack? They'll work
really, really well together.

They're very close down there,

and Jack listens to Joanna
like she's his mum.

What do you think, Matt?
I trust James.

James is obviously the last one
that's been down. I trust you.

So, Joanna, Jack, and the item

they're going to find is the
metronome.

Joanna, Jack And The Metronome
is a great new band. Yeah! OK.

Let's begin the work shift.
Buttons, please.

The Grafters selected for the first
round are

Joanna and Jack.

Love that.

Please get ready to find
your first item worth £1,000.

PHONE RINGS

Hello. Hello there.

I seem to have lost my metronome.

Metronome?
Do you have my metronome there?

A metronome. What the fuck's that?

A metronome is some sort

of measurement... It's got to be an
old thing, innit? Um...

Metronome. Not a clue what that is.

I'd say it's some sort of measuring
device.

Does she not know what it is, no?

Oh, gosh. I'm sorry.

Just look for something
that would, like, measure something.

What, a train timetable? Something
like this. I don't know.

I haven't got my glasses on. What
does that say? Are you joking?

A metronome.

It's got to be something to do
with measurements or something.

I've got my keys, my phone,
my wallet.

Let me go and get me metronome!

I never heard of it in a million
years, so I've got no chance

of finding this.

I think I'm going to go with this
or this. Have you got any ideas?

This. No, it's not that!

It's a way to measure time in
musical instruments.

I did marching
band for literally years.

I'm a musical girl. How did they not
pick me for this one?

20 seconds left.

What do you think? Should I pick
one? Put them behind your back.

This one? This one? Go for that.
Come on. Don't get it wrong, though!

Just whack it on there.

SNIGGERING
THAT'S not a metronome, is it?

What a fucking stupid thing
that was.

Dickheads.

Work shift failed.

Well, Rulers, Joanna and Jack

didn't manage to find the item
requested.

Unfortunately, that means
they have failed the work shift.

The prize fund stands, as it did
at the start of today,

at £20,700.

The options the Rulers chose from
were

deerstalker, metronome, crampons.

I would have got deerstalker.
Why did they pick metronome?

They have made a huge error
up there.

Huge.

That's upsetting.

That's thrown a spanner in the
works.

I'm feeling deflated and incredibly
frustrated at the moment.

We could have made 20 grand today,
and we've come out with zero.

Bad, bad choice. Not by us.
By them. Yeah.

Well, that didn't go well.

But, fortunately,
Cheryl knows exactly what to do

to make everything better.

I'm going for a cup of tea, guys.
I'm sorry. I need one.

James, just don't feel disheartened

because this is not a reflection
on you at all.

I know. I don't necessarily think
it's a reflection on me, anyway.

No, absolutely not.

To be honest, I think you came in
and you said all the right things.

I think you did great
on your first day.

That work shift highlighted
that we need to have

a better knowledge and understanding

of the skills that the Grafters
have.

You know, I've mentioned
that Joanna plays the flute.

That's why I thought "metronome".

Sadly, it didn't go to plan.

Hmm.

Bit cold in here.

I'm starving!

I'm feeling gutted
because that work shift

could have been easier than it was.
Fuck this.

Really started to feel
very down and depleted,

especially when we made
a big fat zero.

Anyone going to have soup?

Absolutely not, mate!

Well, spirits are at an all-time low
in the basement,

but, upstairs, the Rulers are
getting ready

to munch away those blues
with some grub.

Oh, what's for tea, Cheryl?

It's pasta.

I said it would be Italian.

This is actually on my favourite
foods to eat.

Yeah, me too.

Oh, we have champagne.

Cheers!
ALL: To the Grafters!

I have a question, guys.

Why do rich people have two plates?

Cos they're greedy, fat little
bastards.

What a shame we didn't win
any money.

How do you guys
think the Grafters feel?

They're going to be devastated,
aren't they?

They are going to be hard on
themselves, initially,

but then I think they're going to
rise to the top again.

Stand together. Yeah, and hopefully
they'll all encourage each other

and build each other's confidence.

Would you say you were posh, Eddy?

Yeah, I guess so.

I bet... Let me tell you something.

Out of here, he's a demon, mate.

Pint, everything else you do.

Look at him. Oh, yeah, you can tell.
You name it, he fucking...

Yeah, he loves a pint.

Way! Lads, lads, lads!

LIFT: Attention, please.

Oh, lift, lift, lift.

Oh.

Rulers have the power to reward
Grafters

for their performance in today's
work shift.

However, tonight, there is only
one reward on offer.

Oh.

A Grafter party in the basement.

SHE SQUEALS

A Grafter party? Yeah.

With party food?
There will be champagne!

If Rulers choose to reward
the Grafters with a party...

Not again...

..£1,500 will be deducted
from the prize fund.

The Rulers will now
make their decision.

So, as a Grafter, being down there,

if you were in today's work shift
and we didn't make any money,

how would you see us giving rewards?
What would your thought process be?

I'd feel seen, based on
the message that I think needs

to be sent, like, "Look, we see
you worked really hard.

"We all thought it was tough."
Fucking I would!

Not just because of THIS task,

but for, like, they've had 20, 20K
we've made them,

like, in, what? Less than a week.

They've seen what we've done
the last few days, yeah?

20K in less than a week.

Would you give us a party,
if you was a Ruler?

I'm telling you guys for free,
I wouldn't give you guys a party.

I personally don't think we deserve
this party as Grafters.

We didn't win any money.

But, then again, I can't say,

cos I've only been here
for about a day.

I think we can easily earn
that back in another work shift.

I mean, how much...?
That's easily made, yeah.

We earned 15K the other day.
So, I mean, easily. Yeah.

And the next work shift,
they are going to be like,

"Do you know what? We didn't do well
in that work shift,

"they still rewarded us.

"We had a good time, like,
we got what we wanted,

"what we always wanted."
They're still people, aren't they?

So, have we come to a decision?

You think they're going to give us
a party - for what?

Rewarding us for what?
It doesn't matter.

They're going to give us a party.
Good luck. They are. Have faith.

# Living my best life,
living my best life... #

The Grafters failed
their work shift,

earning a total of £0.00 for
the prize fund.

What they don't know, though,
is they're about to get

one hell of a commiseration present.

Attention, please.
# Living my best life... #

Guys, the TV's on!

# Call us what you want
We don't care

# It ain't about the money
It's a love affair

# Hey, you never know
We're living on a prayer

# I turn it up another notch

# I rock it loud and make it hot

# I spike the punch
and make it hot,

# Pop, pop, pop, don't stop! #

Hello, grafters.
We've got it, we've got it.

Although we didn't win any money
today,

we have still decided to reward you
for your amazing efforts.

So, tonight, you're going to get
a party!

THEY CHEER

Coming your way, is food, drink
and music.

THEY CHEER

And I know exactly how much
you need this.

We see you, I see you,

your efforts are acknowledged

and how you're feeling is
acknowledged.

So, sit back, relax, unwind,
and enjoy the music.

THEY CHEER

The fact we've got two former
Grafters up there

is showing exactly
how a Grafter/Ruler does it.

Oh! Fuck me, yeah!

Oh, my God.

THEY EXCLAIM
Champagne!

Right, let's get it out,
guys, get it out.

Ham sandwiches!

I don't drink...
Oh, my God.

There was enough beer.

There was wine.

There was alcohol.

There was non-alcoholic wine.

Just dig in. Are they beers?
Yeah.

And there's wine there. OK.

We wouldn't have got it
if Moses was up there.

We'd be fucked. Eating bread rolls.

I thought it was just going
to be a song and that.

We had beers, champagne,
crisps, food.

Oh! My mind...

My mood went from here to there
like that.

Fresh fruit, when was the last time
I had fresh fruit?

Makes me feel good inside.

Oh, thank you, guys.

To the Rulers!
ALL: Cheers!

You know what they say -

there ain't no party
like a basement party.

Rashika, I'd actually really like
to have a chat with you.

Oh, yeah?
But you know what's even more fun?

Watching Marina try to find out

why Rashika walked out on a
conversation mid-question yesterday.

One of the things you told me

and one of the things I thought
we were on the same page about

was that neither of us liked
animosity.

And, in that case, I felt like we
did have that animosity between us.

So I wanted to take you aside,
not because it...

It shouldn't be something
embarrassing.

I would rather you...
You just said it to me how it is.

Rashika has definitely shown

a different side of her to me
lately.

She's said to me that she doesn't
like animosity,

but yet, yesterday, created a lot
of animosity with me.

Honestly, I don't know if you saw
what happened,

but I wasn't going to ask you a
question... Oh, OK.

..and it was actually me, Cheryl
and Matt came back

and we were talking about what
happened down there.

And I felt like any time
I was trying to speak,

I wasn't able to say what
happened from my perspective,

because there was a lot going on.

Everyone was talking
and I was trying to say something

and I wasn't being able
to get a word in.

I'm sorry if you felt like,
you know, it was to do with you,

but absolutely wasn't. So...

Yeah, no, no, absolutely no worries.

I think, like, next time, whenever
you feel something like that

and you just communicate
that to me.

Babe, I'm a human being.
I got very overwhelmed. I know.

And it wasn't to do with you.

And I don't think it's fair
for you to tell me

that I need to communicate
how I feel, especially

when I'm feeling overwhelmed
and it's...

And I don't need to share it with
people it's got nothing to do with.

But you have cleared your head
since then.

And, you know, you could
have come to me at any time.

I think you're getting
this really wrong, babe.

I don't understand
what's going on here.

Literally,
this has nothing to do with you,

but I don't owe it to anyone to
bring them in on that situation.

But then when I did ask you, you
could say... you could have actually

brought it to me at a later date.

And that... Did you hear what
I said as I was going down before

I literally burst into tears?
You said, "I'll see you later".

I said, "I can't right now",
and I burst into tears.

But that wasn't communicated.
EXHALES

I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Sis, you have absolutely got
the wrong end of the spectrum.

If something happens and it's got,
absolutely nothing to do with you,

I do not owe you a conversation.

But she kept going
and going and going,

so I just got up and I walked away
from the table and I said,

"I literally cannot with
you right now".

I'm going to give you some air.

Oh, God, Matt, don't... You...

It's a boring game plan.

You know...

CHERYL: No, don't listen.

Listen, look, it's votes tonight.

I think the game a little bit's
taken over Rishika's mind.

She's taking it, the fun out of it,

in the penthouse environment.

No, because she's literally trying
to make a point out fucking nothing.

I've gotten really close to Rishika.

You know, we were the first two
original Rulers in the lift,

spending a lot of time together
and a lot of her values and morals

align with mine.

I feel quite privileged and
honoured that she...

she wanted to speak to me.
I gave her a hug.

And, you know, emotions
are running really quite high.

There's a lot at risk tonight.

It's getting heavy upstairs, but
downstairs the party's going off.

Good job that basement's soundproof.

MUSIC: Good Time by Jodie Harsh

Yeah, I love you...

Tunes are popping here.

Fuck it.

It was really nice just to dance,
have fun, drink some drink

and have a good ol' twerk.

What a night.

WHAT A NIGHT!

The party is great fun,
lots of drinks, lots of laughs,

very questionable dance moves.
Can't really go wrong, can you?

You know what they say, though?

It's not a Rise and Fall
party until a Ruler cries.

It's OK. It's OK.
It's OK. It's OK.

SOBBING: I have been listening to
her, I gave her the floor.

And I allowed her to speak

and then to twist it and to say
that I'm not listening to her.

It's OK, it's OK, it's OK.
No, it is fine.

And it's just like...
EXHALES

MORE COMPOSED: ..it is OK.

And I just....

I just don't like that atmosphere
of things being twisted and...

Remember the plan.

Yeah. You stay tonight.

Rishika, for morale reasons,

I think she needs to go.

Marina is one of my day ones.

We were both in the
basement together,

and we both obviously
have the alliance.

The Grafters are in the
back of my mind.

They put their faith in me.

It's hard because I don't
like people being upset,

but ultimately, it's the long game
and that's what I need to remember.

I've got your back.
I know you do.

I've got you. Absolutely.

And we can do this. Yeah.

PATS BED

We need to chat because obviously,
like, we're going in there

and we don't know what we're doing.

I'm fighting for Marina, are you?
Me too. Yeah.

So that's three.

MUMBLES

..what I'm going to say to her is

when you're in a position of power,

you cannot sort of
make massive mistakes

or massive misjudgements
or miscommunication.

And I think what
I'm going to say to her is

I can't get over the
fact that she only

wants to reward
the Grafters before meals.

And they need to know
that down there.

That's why I'm going to say it.

The only thing Marina has over
us... Is the Grafters' situation.

It's the Grafters' experience.

But what we need to remember
is every time a Grafter comes up

that power that she has weakens.

Well... Because James has now had
it, she can't keep saying,

"Well, I've had this experience",
if James is like,

"Well, I've had it". Yeah.

What we need to remember
is we've... what we perceive

as good leaders is what we have and
how we conduct ourselves.

But we need to remember, what do
other people think is a good leader?

Now, James is very
calm and composed,

so I think HE thinks a good leader
is somebody that's calm and
composed.

I'm not criticising
you for being emotional.

I get emotional.

But how does James view that? Mm.

As a Ruler, you can show emotions,
you can show...

you can show how you feel.

But then are you perceived as weak?

I really want Rishika to stay.

I think Rishika brings
more than Marina does.

And if she goes, I'm going to find
it incredibly difficult.

Downstairs, the dancing might be
done, but Moses and Sophie

are planning their next moves.

I hate to say this, but I sense
a lack of seriousness in the group.

In what way?

I'm not really seeing a drive
of, like, wanting to win money.

I don't know. I just feel
everyone's just having a laugh.

Do you reckon you can beat
them lot up there?

I don't even think them
guys are even tough.

I just feel like once you're
put in that position,

you have to play the role.
I really love Moses.

Obviously, we've
clicked straight away.

I need to make sure that I'm friends
with the new people coming

into the game because eventually
they're going to be the ones

that are voting me to go
up to the penthouse.

I think...
What's the blonde's one name?

Marina. She's an actress.

She's not genuine at all.

None of us know anything about her.

She can speak well cos that's
what she's trained to do.

But she doesn't really
know anything.

She's... She's someone.
She's a threat.

I think if I was to go up there,
I'd try and get her out.

Yeah, I suppose.
That's her needing to go.

We just got to get them out,
one by one.

I think it'd be good
if they choose me and you... Yeah.

..cos you're muscly, I'm brainy.
Yeah, that makes sense.

And I play football, so I can keep
up with you fitness-wise.

Yeah, we'd be a good team,
complement each other's strengths.

Sophie is very strong minded,
like me.

I think she's really, really
focused in the game.

She wants to win and I need
people like that beside me.

With the full vote hovering
as menacingly

as the Rise and Fall lift,

Matt and Cheryl are having a
super secret Ruler chat.

CHERYL: How are you feeling, Matt?

HE ROLLS LIPS

I'm feeling quite confused.

I think that's what the
games wanting us to be. Yeah...

But, you know,
at the end of the day,

someone's got to go tonight.

What's really strange for me is...

Quick, hurry up, Matt.

Matt, hurry up, tell me. Get
here and tell me.

OK, I think... You need to hurry up
for once. Tell me.

What I've observed is
that James has come in.

He's got the power
because he's immune.

But have you noticed Marina, how
much she's complimenting him?

James this, James that. Yeah.

But, Matt,

we need to be on the Grafters' side.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It makes me feel awkward.

Yeah, but we're going to have to

because he's fucking got
the vote anyway,

so we need to be with him,
we need to be his mate.

If you're not his mate,
you're going home. Yeah.

The Grafters, at the end of the day,
they're going to stick together.

Let's think about it,
let's think about it logically.

So Rachel and Rishika are going to
vote probably for the same person.

I'm definitely not
voting for Marina, I love her.

I'm... I'm...
No, I'm not voting for Marina.

You're not?

No, I'm not.
I think Rishika needs to go.

I can't vote for Rishika
because it will hurt too much.

It will hurt her.

Tonight, for me, is going
to be the most difficult.

I'm going to cry.

It's the most difficult.

One of us six Rulers
are going to be eliminated.

It's down to
James, really, isn't it?

He's got power because he's
immune from a vote tonight.

Fucking hell,
this game wrecks my brain.

LAUGHS: I've fucking had enough.

It's night-time in London,

and things are about to get
dramatic in the Red Room,

because it's time for another
Rulers' vote.

It's me and Rachel.

And on the other side of things,
it's Cheryl and Marina.

But I'm feeling pretty
confident for tonight.

I'm not worried.

I think tonight's vote,
it's leaving me feeling quite torn.

I think Marina should go.

But I need to vote strategically
in order to save myself.

Attention, Grafters.

Oh, guys, TV's on. TV!

Oh, here we go.

Rulers, you must now vote for one
Ruler to lose their power.

The Ruler with the most
votes will be eliminated.

The new Ruler is
immune from elimination,

but can still vote.

I just want to thank, obviously,
my fellow Rulers for having

the faith in me to have the power.

And I want to thank
the Grafters for voting me in

and also having the faith in me
in this process.

I'm still unsure
of the vote that I want to make.

So I'm going to sit back and
try and take it all in

and listen to all your reasons as to
who and why you're voting.

I'm going to go from there.

I'm going to start with Marina.

There was just a...

..the thing about the reward.

You suggesting that we should only
give the Grafters four rewards.

GASPING

I told you.
I told you she's a fucking idiot.

And that was on the first
night up there.

It was quite a...miss...
quite a big misjudgement.

It could have been quite
catastrophic

if we only sent four down.
Yes. Fuck you, Marina.

Oh, my God.

When we got our first reward,

there was a conversation
that did take place.

That was we could have shared
out the trays at the time

because we realised what the
value was of £100 per tray.

We did, we did have that
conversation though.

She's not lying,
we did have that conversation.

MARINA: The hunger at that point
wasn't as much as it is now.

That's a good point.

Marina,
you're a very strong individual

and I respect everything you
have to offer as a person.

Do you know, for me,
there's this level of empathy

and understanding of people that
does go a long way,

especially when the Grafters
are in a situation that they're in.

You know, knowing what the
conditions are like down there,

coming up here, in your position
of power and still choosing

to give less knowing that they are
hungry and they are really, really

going for it down there, I feel like
the empathy wasn't kind of evident.

It kind of made me feel like,
you know,

will there come a point
where you do that in this Red Room?

We'd seen the Grafters gagging
and throwing up and stuff

and it's like,
we need to be able to adapt.

And...and that's-that's the only
thing that's sitting with me.

Correct. And I think
it's also important to remember

that I did adapt my initial view
and I did change

and I was all for giving that reward
after the pet food,

after we talked it through.

Can I just say that
it was me who brought that up

in terms of the fact
that they were eating dog food?

And that is what did sway
your decision.

If I didn't voice that,
then that never would have happened.

I believe Marina and Rishika
are battling to be at the top,

and when you battle
to be at the top,

you have arguments,
you have an issue.

You can tell by their tone
that they're desperate right now.

Everyone's arguing, just fighting.

I'm not very educated
with my words,

so I keep it to the point,
straight to the point.

My trigger point for me
at the minute

is that in here is a serious place
and I keep it as a serious place.

But when I leave this Red Room,
I feel like, in the Penthouse,

I'm struggling to be with you.
It's your character.

And when I go to that Penthouse,

I feel like the fun's
getting taken out of the situation

at the end of the day.

The voices are rising. Yeah.

She's getting into it again.

I can't live with someone like that,

as in constant, serious moments
all the time.

I have a lot of fun
in that Penthouse,

have a lot of fun with Matt.

I've had a lot of fun with you.
I've had a lot of fun with Rachel.

I've even had a lot of fun
with yourself.

So it's... For me, it's interesting.

Could you could you
draw on a situation

where I might have done that?

Because I'm interested...
There is no drawn situation.

It just is what it is, Rishika,
at the end of the day.

You're fun in your own way.

I'm just saying I'm finding it
quite serious at the moment,

and I don't like that feeling
like that. I don't like it.

But I feel like you're really,
really trying to make a point

that's not making sense. OK.
And that's why I do want to ask,

because we are here,
we do live together,

and you've said that I take
the fun out of things.

So do I take the fun
out of things up there?

Do I take the fun out of it?
I'd like to hear from you guys

because we have other people
that are there to witness it.

So I'd like to hear from you guys.

Rachel's still sat there, gormless.

We're here to do a job.
We're not here to make friends.

We're here to...
We're here to do something.

We're here to build a prize fund.

And that takes skills,
it takes decisions,

and we are going to clash,
and we can't shy away from that.

I feel like I need to say
morale today has felt very low

and the morale in the Basement has
felt higher for the past five days,

eating gruel, eating bread,
than I've felt today.

Rulers shouldn't be going
at each other like that

and making each other cry.

Yes, James. Love that, James.
Man of the people.

He is. Fucking Welsh giant.

People have been upset today,

and I think the Penthouse
is luxurious,

but the pressure is incredibly high.

So we're all going to be upset
at some point. Yeah.

I don't think we should be too harsh
on people for...

No, I'm not against it.
..showing emotion.

Matt just falls under the radar
and all - he never gets voted.

I actually like him.
Yeah, he's sweet.

I do like him. He's harmless.

Rachel, I just want to provide
some feedback to you.

We need to have different opinions
when we're on this table.

We need to have different views.

We can't all be the same,

because otherwise
the decision-making process

is just going to be
from one hymn sheet.

It's not going to be
taken into account.

So, I want you to be more vocal.
I want you to express your opinion.

Obviously, everyone is different

and I feel like everyone
does shine differently.

And I think I definitely
feel like I did take a step back

the past few days.

Obviously I can contribute

and I am willing
to contribute moving forward.

Is it too late?

Oof! See ya.

"Is it too late?"

Are we ready? Yeah.

Definitely, yeah.

LIFT: Rulers. You must now vote
for who should be eliminated.

You cannot vote for yourself
or the new Ruler.

The Ruler that receives
the most votes will be eliminated.

I feel like there's a lot
of pressure on my shoulders

because I'm immune. So what I...

Whatever I do, it feels like
it's going to be make-or-break.

Ultimately, it's the long game
and that's what I need to remember.

Marina voted for...

..Rishika.

You've carried yourself with grace
and poise in the Red Room,

but outside have
created some friction,

not just between you and I,
but also between others in here,

and I don't think we can work well

when our living space is
an unsettling environment.

Rachel...

..voted for...

..Marina.

I did question your
where your head was at

and I did question
your motives initially.

But I think it's still early
to obviously confirm

whether or not
it's actually genuine.

Cheryl voted for...

..Rishika.

It's nothing personal,
it's just that

we have to take the Penthouse
as our release

and our team building
and our safe space.

And we can't go the whole day
in a real work environment.

Rishika voted for...

..Marina.

In the position of Ruler,

we're here to effectively manage
the prize fund.

I feel like that needs to be done
with empathy.

Things are going to get harder,
and I just worry how that might

affect Marina's decision-making
in the future.

Two for Rishika and two for Marina.

Yeah. Matt's not voted.
Who's he going to go for?

There's a lot at risk tonight.

I'm torn between my head
and my heart.

Matt voted for...

Tonight is the first significant
strategic move

that I've had to make.

Next time on Rise And Fall...

What we need to do
is form an alliance.

We've just got to stick together.

She keeps saying stuff like,
"We're all on the same page."

She's a fucking snake.

It's slippery.
I can't stand slippery people.

The Grafter who will
rise to power is...

Choose one Ruler
to fall to the basement...

..and replace you as a Grafter.
