Rhythm + Flow (2019–…): Season 1, Episode 10 - Finale - full transcript

[dramatic instrumentals playing]

[T.I.] Caleb Colossus and Londynn B,

you are the bottom two contestants,

which means
that only one of you is staying.

We owe you honesty,

we owe you a decision,

and we owe it fast.

[Caleb] I don't think we're going
back to Mom and Dad's house.

Y'all gonna see me in the finale,
so I'm super excited about that.

[Londynn B] Normally, I'm pretty confident
about other performances,

but this was the one

that kinda just really had me
stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The last person to join the top four
in the finale...

will be...

Londynn B.

-[crowd cheering]
-[Londynn's rap plays indistinctly]

[Londynn shouts]

[shrieking]

[Caleb murmurs indistinctly]

-Oh!
-[Caleb] I'm proud of you.

-Yo!
-[Caleb] I'm so proud of you.

Unfortunately, Caleb,

that means you have to leave us behind

and continue on your journey.

Caleb, I see you in the future, making it,

and doing a whole lotta diss records
for us.

[laughter]

But that's 'cause you good

and I'm so sad.

Caleb, I don't want you
to think of this show

as qualifying you for being an artist.

You already are.

And you've made great strides
in the competition.

-We just wanna see you keep going.
-[cheering]

[T.I.]
Take that information, continue to grow,

and I'ma keep the champagne cold for you.

[cheers and applause]

[Caleb] This is the last five in America.

I stayed true to myself the whole time.

[indistinct murmuring]

It's just like,
I have a lot of heart, you know.

I really could've done more. I just...

It just didn't work out for me today.

[cheers and applause]

Thank you.

This shit feel good.

-[Chance] Look at y'all.
-We got ourselves a foursome.

Aah!

[Chance] All right, now.

For your final challenge,

we're hooking you up

with some of the hottest producers
in the game

to make your dream record.

You will also have full creative freedom
to design your stage performance.

Pyrotechnics, special effects, dancers,

whatever you can incorporate

as though you were going to perform
at an awards show.

So, our first music producer, Hit-Boy.

[cheers, applause]

A Grammy winner whose production catalog

include everyone from Kanye
to Jay-Z to Eminem.

List goes on and on.

He will be working
with Flawless Real Talk.

[cheers and applause]

Our second producer, Grammy-nominated,
is Tay Keith.

So he has worked with Drake, Travis Scott,
and he will be working with you, Troyman.

[cheers and applause]

Shit is fucked up! Shit is fucked up!

I definitely have really high expectations
for you, motherfucker.

-O-krrrrr.
-[chuckling]

I got you.

[Chance] The third producer
is gonna be London On Da Track.

-[crowd cheering]
-Yeah!

Y'all better...
I need him. I need him. Give him to me!

You've heard London On Da Track
with Post Malone, Drake,

and London will be working with Londynn B.

-[cheers and applause]
-[squealing]

[T.I.]
Last but not least, for you, D Smoke,

we have the Oscar-
and Grammy-nominated producer

of the Black Panther soundtrack.

You are working with Sounwave.

[cheers and applause]

[T.I.] Rightfully so.

[inaudible chatter]

[T.I.] Yes, sir.

That's money.

-That's money.
-No pressure, but this the last hurrah.

This is gonna be a new song.

It has to be the moment of a lifetime,

because only one of you will remain.

[Cardi B] The competition is intense.

It's getting very emotional,

but only one can go with the shmoney.

$250,000, man, it's on the line.

Yo, you guys are close,
but it's that time, yo.

Only one of you guys can win.

You guys have a phenomenal opportunity
at your fingertips.

Don't fumble the bag on the one-yard line.

Start writing them raps, yo. Peace.

[crowd cheering]

[D Smoke] Man, today was huge.

I performed on stage with Miguel

and I made it to the final round.

But all my little excitement
of making it to the next round

is short-lived.

Already, we gotta go
into the studio tomorrow.

[murmuring lyrics]

I'm going in with Sounwave, you know,

responsible for some of
the dopest Kendrick Lamar hits

and we only have ten hours to work,

so I can't come in there ill-prepared.

I'm here writing and brainstorming.

I'm gonna continue showing 'em
why I'm here.

[whispered vocalizations]

-[sighs]
-[Londynn B] It wasn't easy today.

After feeling that much emotion,
it was definitely draining.

Are you hungry?

Ahh...

I know you haven't eaten.

All this dumb shit on your mind right now.

What's going on, man?

Just exhausted.

On the spot,

not being able to showcase everything
you have put into it,

I was just so disappointed.

-You are your biggest critic.
-Right.

As much as you feel like you made it
by the skin of your teeth,

in reality, you're still in this shit.
Don't care how you look at it,

you still got a shot
at a quarter of a million dollars.

I appreciate you being here.

I'm really close to you
in this competition,

so just you being my brother

and really just reassuring me
that I still got another chance,

-that means a lot.
-Of course.

I feel like the strength that I see in you

and what you represent

is really what my mother represented,
know what I'm saying?

I feel like that's why I take to you
as much as I do.

I will never forget the day you sat down
and you spoke to me about your mom.

And you was like: "Sis,
I know you're not talking to your mom,

but the last thing you wanna do

is be at a point

where you can't tell somebody how you feel
before it's too late."

[Londynn B] My relationship with Troy
is really personal

because we just understand each other.

Everybody needs somebody to lean on
in a situation like this,

where you could feel like
you don't have nobody.

Look, I ain't got my mama.

I got you and my brothers, all right,
that's it.

So I need your motivation and...
and your self-confidence on ten,

because you'd be surprised

how much you provide for other people
around you.

[line ringing]

[Flawless]
Finding out I'm going to the finale,

the first person I want to call
is my mother.

-Hi, honey.
-Hi, Mom.

I know she's gonna be so proud of me

and she's gonna have great advice for me,
especially with this last challenge.

I'm still shaky on what I wanna do.

-How you doing?
-I don't feel too well.

What's wrong?

Just a sore throat.

Oh, okay.

My mom suffers from lupus.

It's an auto-immune disease.

The hardest part was the hair loss.

My mother is so beautiful at heart
and so beautiful on the outside

her whole entire life

that this has been a tough disease
to deal with.

I got some good news.

-What's up?
-I made it to the finale.

-What? Oh, my God.
-All the way, so hopefully I can win.

-Final four, baby.
-Wow.

This is the moment
that you've been waiting for.

I want to cry so much.

Oh, my God.

Congratulations.

Thanks, Mom.

Do you know what you're going to do
for the finale?

We have, like, access to, like,
dancers and, like, fireworks

and like a bunch of stuff.

Come on! That's not you.

Yeah, I know,

so I just wanted to represent me
to the best of my ability.

You know I've always believed in you,

and I know
you're going to do extremely well.

[Flawless]
No matter how sick she gets sometimes,

she's given us love and care,

even when we didn't have nothing.

I'm so grateful that she's here,

because I need her more than anything.

Her always uplifting me
makes me feel like I can't fail.

Just keep doing what you've been doing
all these years.

All right, Mama.
I'll let you know how it goes, okay?

Love you.

[in Spanish] God bless you.

Adios.

[Flawless]
It's almost time to do the record.

After having a conversation
with my mom,

I'm thinking about what I want,
you know, people to see last from me.

How do I wanna go out
in this competition?

I think I have a great idea.

-Awesome. Thank you so much.
-You're welcome.

Let's get it.

[Troyman] I'm not usually nervous,

but the next challenge, we get to work
with a major, major producer.

What's up with it?

What's up? You tell me.

I got Tay Keith, which is super crazy.

You good, bro?

[Troyman] The rest of the contestants,
they gonna rap.

We all gonna rap, of course,

but I wanna implement, like, just acting
and just different shit into it,

but still make it,
you know what I'm saying, tight.

Bro, what you thinking?

[Tay]
I'm thinking, like, some fast-tempo shit.

-[up-tempo beat playing]
-[Troyman hums along]

The process going into the studio

was first knocking out
the production aspect,

making sure that we like the beat.

I was up all night writing.

I like to call it
"going to metaphor heaven."

I just trying to make myself laugh

with puns or, you know, double entendres,

and see which ones are worthy enough on...
on a record.

The name of the song is called
"Street Light,"

so I'm kind of bringing it back
to the urban streets,

where it all started.

Definitely paying homage, but still
remaining myself at the same time.

-Ooh! That shit like kicking in the door.
-[Tay chuckles]

[Tay] He just knew what direction
he wanted to go into,

and I just kind of made some shit
that fit.

The chorus, then the eight bars,

-then the chorus, then a 12...
-Twelve.

-...and then the end.
-Right.

-That's what...
-Which is basically what that is.

-How you doing?
-Londynn B, huh?

All right, two Londons.

How they gonna do that?

This time, nothing is written.

I don't even have
what the song is gonna be about.

I don't have none of that.
I wanted to create that vibe

after I heard the vibe

and build it up from there.

Oh, we definitely starting from scratch.

And then we're gonna do, like,
three, four, five of 'em.

Like, I don't even want you
to do the whole song.

Just go off what you hear first,
and then come back out

because you're gonna need to do more
at this point.

Okay.

[London] I wanted to do a bunch of tracks
because I wanted options.

'Cause you never know what's a hit.

♪ I'm the shit, I'm the shit... ♪

The songs were individually inspired
by parts of me.

[London] I wanted her to keep doing it
until we find, like: "That's the one."

But all of 'em the one,
so we put 'em together.

This is gonna make or break my career,
okay? [laughs]

Yo, yo.

-My God.
-What's up, champion?

What's good, champ?

All is well. I can't complain.
How you doing?

I definitely wanna hear, like,
the ideas that you have.

Yeah.

And basically,
we can just bounce off each other.

[D Smoke]
I know what tempo I wanna go in on.

-All right, so you know-know.
-Yeah, yeah.

So I know what tempo.

The feel of it is like stomping.

[imitates percussion]

-Right?
-[similar electronic rhythm plays]

[D Smoke] Whoo!

-I brought my guitar.
-You do it all. That's right.

[accompanying electronic beat]

[Sounwave] Dude, my brain is going:

"This could be either a terrible idea

or it can be genius."

[D Smoke]
The song is called "The Last Supper."

With this song,

I'm really taking the audience
on a journey

which kind of explains, like:

"I know we friends,
but Jesus was friends with Judas."

It really brings it all together, like:
"Although we good friends,

I don't put nothing past none of y'all."

Like, "Take your time,
it's a long dinner," you know?

-Flawless.
-What's going?

-Good to meet you, king.
-Good to meet you.

[Flawless] I'm not trying
to feel no pressure for this round.

Like, it's the final round,
I'ma do what I do.

And if they fuck with it,
they fuck with it.

Hey, I'm deep in the game,
and I've still got that mentality.

You have to be, you have to be,
you feel me?

[Flawless] I really just wanna showcase
a side of me

that I haven't shown in this competition.

Like, I wanna let people
a little more deeper into me.

And this might not even be
what's gonna win the competition,

but I don't even care.

Do you have anything dramatic at all?

Yeah, for sure.

[dramatic electronic theme plays]

Yeah, yeah.

[Hit-Boy] I was playing joints
