Red Ruby (2019–…): Season 1, Episode 4 - Dead Tired - full transcript

Without blood to drink, Ruby becomes weaker and weaker by the day and turns to Theo for help. Meanwhile, Flora finds herself roped into Ian and Amber's evil plans.

- When will I see you again?
- When it's safe.

Previously on "Red Ruby"...

Give me the blood.

You're too weak
to do anything.

Haven't you heard?
It's dangerous to wander
'round here alone.

- You really
didn't see anything?
- Flora!

- Is this the Climates Club?
- Depends who's asking.

We're just two
concerned citizens.

You and your dumb family
think that you're perfect,

and one of these days,
you're gonna get what's
coming for you.

Theo, are you awake?

Ruby?
What are you doing here?

I'm not feeling so hot.

Well, you are
a vampire, so...

Hey, hey, come on.

I'm just joking around.
What's going on?

When we were underground,
Claudia used to feed us.

But now it's been three days
and I haven't eaten.

What are you saying?

I just need
somewhere to sleep,

and then I'll figure
it out in the morning.

Okay.

The closet.

Okay.

Ruby, hey.

Theo, school!

Theo, I'm coming in.

Why aren't you
showered yet?

You're gonna miss
first period.

I can't go to school today.
I'm sick.

Like flu sick
or like I got a C+
and I'm embarrassed sick?

My throat hurts,
my stomach aches.

My head
is just pounding.

Just this once,
I'm gonna let you play hooky

because, honestly, I am
too tired to fight you on it.

And it's too bad because
I was gonna make your favorite
tonight for dinner.

Rib-eye?

I thought
your stomach hurt.

Oh, it does. Ow, ow!

Hey, Ruby.

You alive?

I mean, like,
less dead than usual?

- Oh, sorry.
- Oh, my God.

When we get like this,
it's hard to stay in control.

Just tell me what to do, okay?
I'm staying home from school.

My hero.

Hey, come on,
don't make fun like that.

I'm not.
You're sweet.

Ruby, you have to
let me help you.

I could go trick
someone from school.

Actually,
come to think of it,

there's a lot of people
I wouldn't mind you biting.

Don't joke like that.

I can't bite anyone else.

I'm not a monster.

Of course you're not.
I didn't mean it like that.

You don't get it.

I'm just as old
as your mom,

but I still feel like
a teenage girl inside.

I am all mixed up.
I get sad and lost

and then I turn into
a beast with fangs.

An animal.

Ruby.

You okay?

All right, well,
I'll tell you what.

We'll check it out,
Mo.

I gotta call you back.

What is it, Mike?
Is there news?

Have a seat.

What is this?
Where'd you get this?

It came through the office
earlier this week.

- Why didn't you tell me?
- Because we couldn't
corroborate it.

Damn it, Mike,
if there's something you know,
you need to tell me.

Calm down.

And then this came through
late last night.

"Getting warmer."

Ugh, what does that mean?

Well, at first glance,
it could be an attack on you,

on the drilling.

But it could also be
about the investigation,

that we're getting closer
to finding Annabele.

You have to give me
more here, Mike.

I can't give you everything,
Kirk, it's an open--

This is my daughter
you're talking about.

Who wrote these things?
Do you have any leads?

We were canvassing up on
Hazel Drive the other night,
knockin' on a few doors,

and one of 'em
was that old lady
Claudia's house.

Only her boyfriend was home.

He's an odd guy, you know?
Kinda lost behind the eyes.

Her house is right
on the drilling site.

She's been pestering my men,
making trouble for them.

You think
she's behind this?

Honestly, I don't.

I think it's a bunch of kids

trying to keep the planet safe
for the next generation.

You think these punks
from the protest
are behind this.

We just don't know yet.

I'm losing patience, Mike.

You said the house
is on Hazel Drive?

Yeah, that is what I said,
but don't--

Hey, Kirk!
Don't do anything
you're gonna regret.

You.

- You're in that
hippie club, aren't you?
- Me?

Was there another dweeb
standing in front of me?

I- I'm in the Climates,
but I don't have any problem
with fracking.

- I'm only doing it for--
- Shut up! Where's Flora?

She left yesterday
with two kids I didn't know.

I mean, I don't even think
they went to our school.

Did I ask you
about yesterday

or did I ask you
about today?

I haven't seen her,
I swear.

Give me your phone number.

- Come on.
- Okay, okay.

Um, oh, okay.

- I'm keeping this.
- All right.

- Yeah.
- Okay.

Does she ever shut up?

Not since yesterday.

What?

What's wrong
with you people?

People.

Don't insult us like that.

How could you
do that to him?

He's old.

Should we try
something a little...

younger?

That's what we thought.

I believe that's her...

whatchamacalit?

Cell phone?

See who it is.

Where are you, Flora?

Look, it's
Charlie Van Der Hoek.
We need to talk.

Hi, Charlie.
This is Flora's friend Amber.

Who? Are you
working with her?

Something like that.

We're all hanging here
over at Junior's.

Why don't you come join us
for a cup of coffee?

What are you gonna
do to him?

I think question time
is over.

Come on, Ruby,
you have to eat.

You don't understand
how it tastes, Theo.

Sure, I do.
It's prime grade beef.

I'm sorry.

I know you're just
trying to help.

Well, do you feel
any better?

It's waking me up
a little bit.

You know, you don't
have to do any of this.

Maybe I should just
go back to the Others.

It's just...

I don't want
to be like them.

Before this,
we were just kids.

We did normal
high school stuff.

We had crushes
and we went to concerts

and we snuck out at night
to go to the race tracks.

And then we got trapped.

Not just in the caves,
but in our own bodies.

We were down there for so long
with no friends or family

or anyone
who actually cared.

No one's asked me
how my day was
for 25 years.

I don't know.
Something just switched.

We just stopped being
human beings.

No, you didn't.

You're just like me.

Once we can find a way
to get you blood,

I'll tell my mom
that you're here
and you can live with us.

Everything is gonna be okay.

Promise.

You don't get it, Theo.

Say I lived here
and we started going
to Junior's together.

And we started going
to the movies

and you asked me
out to prom.

And then you'd go off
to college, get a job,

and you'd have kids
and a wife

and I'll still be here.

I'll still be the same.

The very same.

I'm sorry.

It's okay.

I just need some rest.

Hello?

Anybody here?

Flora, I know
you're in here.

There you are, Baxter.

Yeah, I found my sister's
glasses in your bag.

And did you think
I wouldn't find you?

What do you have
to say for yourself?

Answer me, Flora!

Charlie, I'm sorry.
It's a trap.

Hey, get your hands off of me!

Do you know
who my father is?

"Do you know
who my father is?"

Look, I don't know
who you people are,

but what did you do
with my sister?

I don't know
about you, Amber,

but I'm growing tired
of hearing about this...

what's she called?

Annabele.

Look, just tell me
where she is
and I won't hurt you.

For 25 years,
we've been waiting.

Now, we're not asking
for anything unreasonable,

just to be left alone
to enjoy the simple
things in life.

You, my friend,

are making things
complicated for us.

And first you're gonna
give me those glasses.

And then you're gonna
turn your head ever
so gently to the side

while my friend Amber
takes a little bite.

Maya?

Hey.

I didn't know vampires
could dream.

Was I talking in my sleep?

I'm sorry.

Eh, just a little.
How are you feeling?

I'm feeling
a little better,
but not great.

You know,
ever since my dad left,

I've had this feeling
like I don't know
what happened next.

You know, like, anything
could happen at any minute.

It'll be just like
you said, you know.

You'll go one way
and I'll go another.

Okay?
But we all grow up.

Maybe it will be
a little bit different for you
than it will be for me.

But we can't
predict the future.

I think the only thing
that we can focus on right now

is making you better.

And, you know,
I already know the answer
to this question,

but I just wanted
to ask anyways.

How was your day?

This has been the best day
I can remember.

Ruby.

I want you to.

No.

- I can't.
- I'll be fine.

I promise.

What are you up to?

What the hell?

Next on "Red Ruby"...

What took you so long?

You're buried beneath
100 foot of sandstone.

But I can't get you out.
