Paranormal 911 (2019–…): Season 1, Episode 6 - The Chapel - full transcript

A ghost follows a police officer home from the scene of an accident, a spirit plays tricks on a deputy at an Alabama mansion and a paramedic is shocked to see the apparition of a bride and groom walking down the aisle of a church.

I mean, she gets close to me,
what's she gonna do?

Try to, you know,
drain some of my energy,

Or is she there to hurt me?

I don't know.

As a first-responder,
training only takes you so far.

I would say it kind of
freaked me out.

Whatever's there
was not afraid of us

And was not trying
to get away from us.

Despite all of the feelings
I was getting,

I had to do my job.

In my mind,
I'm thinking to myself,

"did I just see that?"

Whenever you're put
in that spot,

You start to believe
real quick.

Oh, my god!

911--
please state your emergency.

I think it's a ghost!

The lord and satan,
standing at his right side

To accuse him.

The lord said --

The first to respond
to the 911 call

Of a brutal car crash

Is volunteer firefighter
david childers.

- Dispatch, come in.
-Call for dispatch.

Do you have any other
further details for me?

There was a similar
vehicle-motor accident on...

I got the call,
and it was a wreck

About a mile away from me.

You know, right down the road.

David follows a set
of tire tracks

That lead him off the main road
and through a cemetery...

...Where he uncovers
the crash site.

Ma'am, are you all right?

Unable to open
the driver's door,

He makes his way around
the vehicle

And finds his way in.

I was able to open up the door.

The firefighter knows
from experience

That time
is now of the essence.

I started feeling all these
overwhelming feelings.

I knew that it was probably
nothing we could do.

He continues to experience

The same strange feelings

He felt inside the car.

I just got this, like,
I don't know, just heaviness,

And the hair stood up
on the back of my neck.

You know,
it's like goosebumps.

It was like we were standing
in the middle

Of an electrical storm.

I mean, it was just --
it was weird.

It was weird, and I felt like
somebody was staring at me,

You know, behind in the woods.

I kept on turning around.

I need backup. We've got...

I radio it in.

I let them know exactly what was
going on in the situation.

Please hurry.

Copy that. We're on our way.

But despite their best efforts,

The rest of the rescue team

Is unable to revive the driver.

The woman, a college sophomore,
is pronounced dead at the scene.

The whole event was just --

I couldn't even explain it.

But, I mean, it was just --
it was weird.

It was like standing next
to a hot electrical field.

The closer you get to it,
your body tries --

It's telling you to get away

Because there's some
sort of danger going on.

With his shift over,
the firefighter heads back home,

Determined to shake the strange
emotions from the crash site.

I went and I jumped
in the shower --

A nice, hot shower.

I sort of figured that would
help me calm down.

While I was in the shower...

...I heard knocking on the door.

A single father,

The only other person
in david's house

Is his 8-year-old daughter.

I'm like, "why is my daughter
knocking on the bathroom door?

"she has her own bathroom.
She's never done that.

Maybe something's wrong."

I go down the hallway
to her room.

She's sound asleep.

I mean, just chalked it up to,

"hey, look, I've had a long day.
I'm hearing stuff.

"I think I need to go
and get some rest

'cause I'm tired."

The next day, I was just
relaxing, you know,

Enjoy my day off,

And I hear my daughter,
and she's like, "daddy. Daddy."

She was like, "daddy,
there's somebody in the house."

I was like, "baby, that was
probably just a radio,

"tv, whatever you're --

"I mean, I really doubt
it's anything.

Like, well, what did you hear?"

And she was like,
"it was a woman.

A woman called my name."

I was like, "are you sure
it was a woman?

'cause there is not a woman
in the house."

He notices an open cupboard

And dishes flung on the floor.

Who do you think did that?

I did not see a single --
nobody in there.

I couldn't understand it,
but at this point,

I'm starting
to scratch my head.

The first thing I did was make
sure all the windows

Were locked,
make sure the door was locked,

Looked out the window
and make sure nobody

Was trying
to break in or something.

I couldn't explain it.

I'm in the middle of nowhere,

And it was definitely
nobody outside.

But whatever it is
isn't letting up.

And then I hear this voice.

I don't know,
I just felt so much fear.

I kept on feeling
the same emotions

And stuff that happened
at the wreck scene.

Daddy!

You missed the girl.

Here?

Daddy!

It was the girl that was
at the wreck scene.

After firefighter david childers

Tries to rescue a driver

From the wreckage
of a deadly crash,

He is overwhelmed
by powerful forces.

Daddy!

The next day,
he discovers, to his horror...

You missed the girl.

...The victim has
followed him home.

I'm starting to freak out here
'cause I didn't know what to do.

By the time I actually got
the courage to speak to her,

She was gone.

Not wanting to
further upset his daughter,

Childers downplays the strange
vision as a trick of the mind

And tries to put it behind him.

That night, you know,
I usually go to bed

Around the same time --
10:00, 11:00.

And I'm laying in the bed,
I finally fall asleep.

Daddy!

2:00 that morning,
I get awakened

By something pulling my toe.

The room was really dark,

And I really couldn't
see anything.

But when my eyes sort of
got adjusted to it,

I could tell there
was nobody in the room.

I've had that overwhelming
feeling again.

The same feeling...

excuse me.

That I had at the wreck scene
with the girl.

She's staring right at me,

And I can actually make
her face out.

- Who was it?
- It was her.

It was the girl from the wreck.

I'm looking at the spirit
of a dead woman.

As soon as I blink my eyes,
she was gone.

She just disappeared.

I was in shock.

A spirit
is going to pull energy

Out of
its surrounding environment

In order to manipulate people
to do the things it needs to do.

This is
actually very dangerous.

There are a number of reports
where a person

Feels light-headed, dizzy, sick,

Even in some extreme cases,

Develop a kind of sunburn
or a radiation burn.

I was scared ****.
I really was.

Daddy...

Daddy...

Come play with me.

And I hear,
"daddy, come play with me."

Suddenly, the power
goes out throughout the house.

At this point, I'm like,

"I'm gonna find out
what this is,"

You know, to set
my daughter's mind at ease.

David has no idea
what the entity wants

Or what its intentions
might be.

I don't know
what could happen.

I mean, she gets close to me,
what's she gonna do?

Try to, you know,
drain some of my energy,

Or is she there to hurt me?

I don't know.

In the face of the unknown,

David's main priority
is protecting his daughter.

At that point,
I had to come up with something

To take care of my family.

Come play with me.

daddy.

Daddy...

daddy...

Hello?

-daddy.
- Are you in here?

So, you're calling out
to this dead woman?

I couldn't explain it,
but I could tell that

I'm at the point where
I'm thinking, "she is there."

But this isn't your home.

This isn't
where you want to be.

David has no idea why
she has followed him home

And why she refuses to leave.

I can understand the young lady
needs help somehow, someway,

But it's not natural.

I got to think about my family.

I know you're scared.

Hey.

I look out and there she is.

It was not of this world.

I'm not your daddy,
and this is not your house.

Daddy!

In that moment, I realized
I had to come up with something

To take care of my family.

After firefighter
david childers

Pronounces a young driver
dead on the scene,

Her ghost follows him home
and now refuses to leave.

Daddy!

I'm starting to freak out here
'cause I'm like, you know,

"not in my house.

I don't know if I can deal
with my house being haunted."

And my daughter --
I mean, she's young.

She don't need to be scared
to go to bed at night.

The firefighter's
solution is to exorcise

The unwanted spirit
from his home.

My grandmother
gave me some advice.

She told me, "hey, look,
say the god's prayer,

"walk around the house,
get you some holy water,

And get your bible out."

Be gone!

I command you to be gone!

I cleansed the house with sage.

I smudged the whole house

Trying to get all the negative
spirit out --

Whatever was in there.

I command you to go back
where you came from.

Smudging is a very powerful
act of cleansing ourselves,

Our environment,
of possessions of anything

That we might
have picked up on --

Any negative energy,

Anything which is not healing
or loving for us,

Anything which does not
create balance.

This is no longer
your place to be.

In the name of the father,
the son,

And the holy spirit,
you are no longer welcome here.

In the name of the father,
the son, and the holy spirit,

Leave me and my daughter alone.

Be gone.

I just had to close my eyes
and just hope she would be gone.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the lord my soul to keep.

May god guard me
through the night

And wake me
with the morning light.

- Amen.
- Amen.

I seriously think that
the young girl

Was there to communicate
with me and tell me what --

I guess, tell her story about
what happened in the wreck.

Okay, great.
Let's go to bed.

Do you think she's gone,
daddy?

She's not ever going to
hurt you, I promise you.

Okay. Go to bed.

There may have been
some confusion with the spirit.

The spirit might not have known
it was dead,

That it was time to leave.

Again, the pull of
the physical world

Is so strong and so seductive,

A lot of times, a spirit finds
it very hard to let go of that.

Later that evening,

David learns the promise
he made to his daughter...

...May be difficult to keep.

-Hey.
- Hello?

Daddy...

I'm not your daddy,
and this is not your house.

Daddy...

Daddy!

Desperate, david comes
up with a possible solution

To rid his house
of the unwanted spirit.

I was like, "well, I mean,
if this spirit can attach itself

"to me from the wreck scene
and follow me to my house,

Why couldn't I ask her to follow
me back to the wreck scene?"

And I had to give it a shot.

David is bringing the spirit
back to the place

Where it left its body.

It's bringing it away
from his home.

It's showing the spirit
that it's time to move on,

They have no more place
in the physical realm.

David heads back to
the scene of the crash

Through the neighboring
cemetery...

...Where he starts to experience

The all-too familiar
feelings of dread.

I felt that presence again.

David discovers
the girl's father

Was buried near the crash site.

I felt the heaviness feeling,
the sadness.

I felt all those emotions,
and I knew she was there.

She's followed me back,
you know,

From the house to this area.

Happy birthday, daddy.

The girl's ghost hovers

Then vanishes for good.

After she disappeared,
everything got back to normal.

I mean, it was amazing.

I can't believe that
it happened so quick.

It just disappeared.

All of the bad,
negative energy was gone,

And I knew she was gone.

Do you think that she's
still there in the cemetery?

I really do believe she stays
at that cemetery

Because she looked like
she was happy.

And I think she actually was --
had a resting spot.

I don't cry that much,
but this incident --

This is the only incident
that really makes me tear up.

...Standing before the angels
of the lord.

What would you say to
people who are non-believers?

I really do understand,
you know,

Why a lot of people
are skeptical

And don't believe
in the paranormal.

But whenever you're put
in that spot

And you're put in those shoes,
you start to believe real quick.

Oh, my god.

The 911 call goes out
to reserve sheriff's deputy

And life-long
first-responder james kincade.

The call came out
for a possible

Breaking and entering.

The lady who called 911--
the owner of the house --

Had said that she saw a man
in her house.

So when we arrived on scene,
the lady met us,

And you could tell
she was very anxious.

She was really visibly
just shaken.

Dispatch advised her not to go
inside the house,

To back away, and to wait
for us to get on scene.

The officers learn
that the woman

Had only recently
purchased the old house.

She told us that she lived alone
and that there was nobody else

That she was expecting
to be there at that time.

So as soon as she saw
this person, she called 911.

The officers move
inside to search the premises.

Home invasions are, you know,
pretty dangerous.

For one, you're not
familiar with the house.

You're gonna have to go
into that property.

You're gonna have to search it.

So when we started asking
her questions

About the property
and she said that at one time

It was a hospital
during the civil war,

I think it was pretty sound
to say that this house

Had seen its fair
share of death and violence.

So, we're trying to be as safe
as possible

During this whole incident
as it's going on.

Determined to protect
the homeowner,

James' partner moves the woman
to safety and calls for backup,

While james continues
to search the main floor.

My partner called in
to our dispatch

And told them that, yes, that
there was somebody in the house

And we were
actively searching it.

I'm actually scared
to death, myself.

This is the first time

I've actually been
in a situation like this

To where I knew somebody
was in this house

And I'm having
to go after him.

Kincade, can you update
your status, please?

I felt personally, like,

If I were to turn around
at any point

That I would physically see
somebody right behind me.

But there was nobody there.

The officer gathers himself

And continues
his investigation.

There was a lot of rooms
and a lot of space

To take our time and clear

And make sure
we weren't missing anything,

Make sure there
was nobody hiding.

Back up, eta -- 15 minutes.

Suddenly, I heard what sounded
like something

Moving across a floor.

I knew somebody actually
was upstairs,

And then we started hearing
those footsteps

On the second floor.

It wasn't no heavy footsteps,
it wasn't running.

It was just a steady pace.

Whatever's was there
was not afraid of us

And was not trying
to get away from us.

This point, it gets
real quiet in the house.

We don't hear any footsteps.

Whether it may be
drugs motivating them

Or stealing somebody's personal
belongings to gain money,

That person has already
decided, in our mind,

That it's worth whatever it is
to break into somebody's home.

As I entered one
of the bedrooms,

The temperature was
definitely different.

It was just a whole different
vibe in that bedroom.

Unit three, update, please.

Like, every hair on my body
was just standing up on edge.

And then I saw a shadow.

A gunshot
draws james out of the room

And into the hallway.

We're getting very concerned
about this.

What's the reason
they're actually there for?

Are they willing to kill
law enforcement to get away?

The only reasonable explanation

Is that this person
just vanished into thin air.

When deputy
james kincade and his partner

Investigate a possible break-in
inside an old home

With a violent past,

They discover someone
lurking mysteriously

On the second floor.

But when james sets chase
to the perpetrator,

The man vanishes into thin air.

I'm starting to realize
maybe I'm dealing

With something
I never have dealt with before.

And deep down inside,
I'm pretty scared, myself.

But when they hear someone

At the back of the house,

James and his partner close in
on the mysterious intruder.

At that point, that's when
we started to hear a door,

Like, you could hear
actually a door creaking.

And then you heard it slam,
actually.

Someone or something
is toying with the officers.

We were left at a loss
of what could have caused

That door to open and close.

Dispatch, here.
Is anyone there?

No, unfortunately.

At this point, for me,

It was definitely something
that I couldn't explain.

Intruder spotted
on the balcony.

In pursuit.

Sheriff's department.
Show yourself!

I started to let
the person know,

"we hear you moving.

"it's time to come out
with your hands up.

There's nowhere else to go."

So I thought something
was actually

Deliberately playing with us.

This is dispatch,
letting you know backup

Will be arriving
in five minutes.

At this point, I'm thinking,
"there's a ghost in this house."

There was somebody there,
and he was looking at me.

I saw it with my own eyes.
I knew it was a person there.

That was terrifying,
and it just scared me to death.

I thought it was one of
the soldiers

Who had died up there
in the hospital,

Or something may have happened
that that person is still there.

As a first-responder,
training only takes you so far.

This point, with this house,

It felt like none of this
was gonna matter.

In places where soldiers die,
quite often we find

That they want to stay
and assist their unit.

They could get in this state
of confusion, almost,

Where they are continually
going through the battle

That they were fighting...

...Not realizing that
they can get out of there

And transcend
to a higher level.

This is dispatch.

Backup should be arriving
on scene now.

So, when our backup arrived,
you know,

We spent over an hour
in this house

Searching it
from top to bottom.

We never saw anything else
again in the house.

How did you leave it
with that woman?

What did you say to her?

We explained to her,
"yes, ma'am,"

That, "we believe that
we saw something in this house.

But we searched this house,
and there's nothing here."

We even suggested that evening
that she would go stay

With somebody
if she felt unsafe in her home,

And she did stay that evening
with family members.

No doubt in my mind that,
you know, it could possibly

Be tied back to
that timeframe of the civil war.

They don't know that
they're dead,

And they're still going
about their daily activities.

It's just their energy
that's still there.

At this point, my beliefs
in paranormal --

Now that I actually have
my own personal experience,

It really took away
all that doubt,

That there actually is something
out there that we can't explain.

Ah.

Unit 10, this is dispatch.

Code four, medical response.
West 48th and 3rd.

Copy. On our way.

Responding to
the 911 call

Along with his partner
is veteran paramedic joe cox.

I became a paramedic
when I was 20 years old

Because of the excitement,
the nature of the job.

After 37 years, I still
really enjoy helping people.

We don't get a lot
of thank yous,

But you go home
knowing you did something

That really benefited
the person and/or the family.

As they arrive on the scene,

The paramedics are greeted
with an unusual sight.

The first thing I noticed
when we pulled up

That really caught my eye,
that there was a hearse there.

No one had told us
it was a funeral.

The call was given out
as a fainting spell,

Which can be
a huge emergency.

We have people that
a third-degree heart block

That might lose consciousness.

It's a really broad range
of medical conditions

That it could lead to.

Joe and his partner
may not know

Exactly what is waiting for them
inside the church,

But they do know
every second matters.

Got to come through.

As we entered the church,

We saw a small crowd
around this person.

We presume that's who
our patient was.

The paramedics learn
the woman in distress

Is heartbroken over the loss
of her husband

Of more than 50 years.

Hi. Hi. I'm joe.
What's your name?

So we just ask her how
she's doing, how she's feeling.

The lady said she was okay

And she wanted to stay
for the rest of the service.

But joe needs to run
some basic tests,

Which are required
for this type of call.

We have to make sure
that you're okay, all right?

I can't leave him.
I can't leave him.

Don't make me leave him,
please.

That's okay.

I felt sorry for her
because she wanted

To attend
her husband's funeral,

So we suggested
that we would take her

To the back of the church
and assess her.

- Can you breathe okay?
- Yeah.

I can't leave him.
I can't leave him.
That's okay.

As joe tries to
convince the grieving widow

To come with him...

I saw an apparition.

I could see shadows --
like a flash.

I was convinced that
nobody else saw them

Because everybody was facing
towards what we were doing.

You see that?

Then it was gone.

We are dealing with a patient,
and in my mind,

I'm thinking to myself,
"did I just see that?"

Paramedic joe cox
responds to a woman

Who has fainted
at her husband's funeral...

When a strange apparition
has him questioning his sanity.

You see that?

If anybody had seen
this apparition,

There would've been a gasp
or a reaction.

There was no reaction.

I would say it kind of
freaked me out,

But I had a really
serious job to do,

And I didn't have time to think
about what had just occurred.

Unsure of what he just saw,

Joe returns his focus
to his patient,

Who remains insistent on staying
with her dead husband.

Don't make me go.

The best I could offer
was to take her

To the back of the church
and do some vital signs on her,

And she agreed to do that.

Just take you back here, okay?

When we got to the back of
the church,

We assessed the lady.

Sit you down right here.

There we go. Okay.

Just relax, okay?
How are you feeling?

She was in a sitting position
and was conscious.

Then we're thinking it could
be an emotional response.

It wouldn't be the first time
that we were sent on a call

To a funeral home or a church
that someone overcome

With grief has collapsed.

Right here, okay?

And then, something happened
to the patient.

Ma'am?
Can -- can you hear me?

Ma'am, can you hear me?

She's coding.

She had no vital sign, which is
no pulse, no respirations.

This way. Yeah, here we go.

This is a real emergency now.

Just stay with me, okay?

Joe starts to administer cpr.

As he does, he suddenly
senses a presence.

I didn't know what to think.
It really caught me off-guard.

I looked, and I saw this
just for a second or two.

As joe works to revive
the patient,

The mysterious apparition
catches his eye again.

I saw a bride and groom...

...As if they were heading
to the altar to be married.

They were a young couple.

We continued cpr and bagged
ventilation to the hospital,

And then when we got
to the hospital,

They pronounced her deceased
about 10 minutes later.

I didn't know what to think.

Right at the moment
that she passed away

At her husband's funeral,

I saw that couple
standing in the aisle.

And why I was to see this
at this time?

I have no idea.

Three days later,
the lady and the husband

Returned to the church
for a double funeral service

And were buried together.

Joe attends the funeral

To share his condolences...

I'm so sorry for your loss.

...Still trying to make sense

Of what he say days earlier.

As I was speaking
with the family,

They told me that the lady
and the husband had been married

At that church
more than 50 years ago.

Joe realizes the young
couple in the photograph,

The same couple
who are about to be buried,

Are the apparitions
that appeared to him.

I think that
this couple rejoined

Each other for eternity.

I saw them together.

For someone
to have a vision of them

Reuniting at this location
makes complete sense.

It was very significant
to them personally.

Love transcends space and time.

And even after death,
there's no reason to believe

That our loved ones stop
caring for us on either side.

We're still connected
through that energy.

Love is energy.

And reuniting upon death...

...It's something that perhaps
the universe

Put together for a lot of people
to participate in.

But the question remains --

Why were the visions
seen by joe and nobody else?

Some people are a little more
sensitive to spiritual energy.

First-responders have a certain
type of psychic sense,

Which is usually
called intuition.

No matter what field you're in
police, fire, ems,

You develop
a type of intuition.

So this would draw a spirit
towards them

Just like a living
person who needed help,

Knowing that that's
what they're there for.

He may have been given
a front row seat

To receive this message
to pass on to the family.

I did not share with the family
what I had seen

Because they're grieving.

I thought it would be
in bad taste,

And they'd think I was
a little off-center.

I'm sure there are skeptics,

'cause I've been a skeptic
previous to this.

But I'm telling you that I saw
this couple in the middle

Of the aisle.
