Niko and the Sword of Light (2015–…): Season 2, Episode 2 - A Night in Carondolet - full transcript

A message from The Darkness prompts Niko and his friends on a new journey to find an ancient relic.

- [Narrator] Previously on
Niko and the Sword of Light.

- Keep focus, Your Majesty.

The fire opal is
far too powerful

for an unsupervised novice.

- I wouldn't wanna
end up like Nar Est.

- [Sargous] He pays the price
in his own eternal prison.

-(Niko gasps)

- You had another one of
your visions, didn't you?

Fire flash!

- [Wisp Voiceover]
I bring a message Nar Est.

- Who sent you?

- The Darkness.

(dramatic music)

- I am Niko,
and this is my sword of light!

I am here to protect my people

and defeat the Darkness forever!

- [Nar Est] Explain yourself,
wisp, and be quick about it.

I don't have all day.

- [Rasper] Actually, you do.

- Shush!

- The Darkness sends you this
message from the eternal void,

banished there but,

what are you doing?

- It's creepy how its eye
follows you around like that.

- Hmm, what does
this Darkness want?

And what do I get in return?

- The Darkness can offer many
things if you assist him,

Nar Est, starting
with your freedom.

- Okay, I'm listening.

- You must retrieve
the amulet of power.

Only then can the Darkness
return to this world.

(Nar Est and Rasper laugh)

- Why am I laughing?

- Because, you pestilent loon,

the amulet of power is a myth.

It's one of those
ancient mysteries

Sagas kept going on
about back in the day.

He once had me inspect a trinket

he suspected was the key to
its hidden vault. (laughs)

- The Darkness thought
you might object.

- What are you--
Stop that.

Oh.

Oh, yes.

Yes, I-- I see it.

- [Wisp] This is the
power of the amulet,

beyond anything you've
encountered before.

(Nar Est laughs)

(Nar Est screams)

- Incredible.

The things I could
do with such power.

Where is the amulet?

- In a fortress long forgotten.

It will appear only when
the four stars align.

- You're not giving
me much to go on here.

- I can use someone else.

- No, no.

We'll find the amulet.

Just get us out of here.

- First, a warning.

The Darkness knows
your mind Nar Est.

He knows your ways.

If you betray him, if you fail,

his punishment will be absolute.

- You should know I don't
respond well to threats.

Rasper, get your beak off me!

- [Rasper] Trying, Lord.

(Nar Est screams)

- You couldn't break the
sphere before we got bigger?

(wisp laughs)

- It seems the Darkness's
mouthpiece has lost its bite.

An improvement if you ask me.

- Eleventy two, eleventy three,

eleventy four,
eleventy (sighs) five.

Hear that, Flicker?

(Flicker grunts)

Someone approaches.

Be ready.

(suspenseful music)

-(Niko screams)
-(Flicker growls)

-(Mandok screams)
- Mandok?

- Sorry, guess I should
have knocked first.

- Why are you here?

Have you not heard?

I ruined everything.

- Ah, trying to help, ruin
the royal celebration.

Even party crashers
need a slice of cake.

Sorry it doesn't
look or taste great,

but well, you were there.

- (sighs) I do not
feel like celebrating.

- So what if everyone in
the kingdom's angry at you.

As master of coin, I can put in

a very influential word or two.

- Thank you, Mandok,
but I do not wish

to cause more trouble
for Carondolet or Lyra.

- Mm-hmm.

You know what always
cheers me up, a good story.

Fire up that projector, big guy.

Did I ever tell you

about my Uncle Mumford's
giant silver spoon?

- Twice.
- Oh, good.

The third time is where
you really get the nuance.

- We can't keep him in that
Treehouse forever, Uncle.

Sooner or later,
Niko has to come out.

- Later is best, my
queen, much, much later.

- Oh, Niko wasn't
trying to hurt anyone.

- I know, but his powers
are growing faster

than he can control them.

A little distance
between Carondolet

and your friend would
be best for everyone.

- My friend is the reason
Carondolet is still here.

Have we forgotten already?

- No one's forgotten anything.

I promise.

- I saw it in the
wisp's vision, Rasper.

The amulet of power is real.

Loathed as I am to say it,
Sargous was right all along.

I must have it.

There's a hidden
panel somewhere.

Keep looking.

The Councilman
and the Mermaiden.

Sargous, you old romantic.

-(footsteps approach)
- Ah, someone's coming!

- Make yourself useful.

Bar the door.

(Rasper screams)
(suspenseful music)

- Quite odd.

This door should not be locked.

-(Rasper screams)
-(glass breaking)

Quickly, guards,
someone's in the library!

Be ready, my queen,
just in case.

- They're on to us.

I don't wanna go
back in the globe.

- Hmm.

The fire opal.

Now this should do nicely.

Hmm.

And this, it doesn't
look like much of a key.

- [Guard] Stand back!

- [Lyra] Nar Est!

- Rasper, out of my way!

(guards scream)

(Nar Est laughs)

- So there he was,
my heroic uncle,

fleeing for his life from the--

(alarm blares)

I know that awful
(mumbles) anywhere.

Something's wrong.

- How did he escape the globe?

- I don't know, but he
will come no farther.

- Foolish child.

See how a true
master wields power.

- He has the fire opal.

(Lyra gasps)

(Nar Est and wisp laugh)

- A dark wisp.

- Havoc, havoc, havoc!

- You are a disgrace
to this kingdom!

- And you have terrible
taste in literature.

(creature growls)

(Nar Est speaks
in foreign language)

- Hello down there.

Mind if we crash the party?

- (screams) I am Niko,
and this mess is not my fault!

Force blast!

(Nar Est speaks
in foreign language)

- Ha-ha, only one statue left.

- One statue?

Oh, havoc.

- Yes, go, Niko!

The big one,
I meant the big one.

(Niko screams)

(Nar Est laughs)

- Come on, kid,
we have to stop you.

I mean stop that.

- I have to stop me? Hmm.

Hey, look, a water slide!

- My champion!

- Farewell, impressive
looking statue.

- Maybe they'll put us in
different prisons this time.

- No, Rasper, we
won't be going back.

- No, Flicker!

He's turning back into Xerxes!

- It's worse than that.

Tiny Flicker turned into Xerxes.

Big Flicker means
monster Xerxes!

- Get me off of this thing!

- Flicker!

- Niko!

(Mandok screams)

- What happened?

What could have done this?

No!

(Nar Est laughs)

(Mandok screams)

- Niko, this is no
time to be dozing off.

- Farewell, old fool.

Come, Rasper, the
amulet of power awaits.

- Nar Est!

- (laughs) You
have much to learn.

- Uncle!
I don't know what to do.

He's too powerful.

- You can still reach him.

Clear your mind.

(Nar Est laughs)

- No!

- Got it.

Now you will answer
to your queen.

Oh, you've gotta be kidding me.

(Xerxes growls)

- Quickly, Your Highness.

Bring our champion back.

- Hang on, Niko.

This is our stop.

(Mandok screams)

Hoo, I can't
believe that worked.

Whoa!

- Where am I?

- [Lyra] Niko, Mandok!

- Your Highness.
- Are you alright?

- I had a vision, something
destroyed everything.

- Ah, did it look like that?

- No, but that is
also frightening!

(people scream)

Darkness, be gone!

- Oh, he's too far away.

We need to lure him closer.

- I have a plan.

However, Mandok is
not gonna like it.

- I don't like this plan.
Why me?

- Because you are the one
with the cake I ruined.

- This is true.

Hey, Xerxes!

Snack time.

Glad I saved two pieces.

(Xerxes growls)

Ah!

Now, Niko, now!

I don't think I have
enough cake for this thing.

- Let the darkness be gone!

(Xerxes growls)

- [Belatha] How is the patient?

- He won't be flying
again any time soon.

That dark wisp really
did a number on him.

- But the Darkness was defeated.

How could there still
be a wisp remaining?

- Part of it must have escaped.

And now, so has Nar Est.

- With a treasure from
my vault, no less.

- Uncle, Nar Est
mentioned something

about an amulet of power.

Does that trinket have
anything to do with it?

- I always suspected it
did, but there's never been

any proof of the
amulet's existence.

Not even your father,
King Horace, believed it
to be real.

- It is real.

I cannot explain why, but
I know this to be true.

The amulet is what
Nar Est seeks, and he
must be stopped or,

or these things I see in my
visions, they will come true.

- News of his escape has
already reached our allies.

They will aid us in his capture.

- That's not enough.

Nar Est may not have
the power he once did,

but he's still
crafty and dangerous.

Niko and I must leave at once.

- Yes!

Our new quest begins.

- That is out of the
question, Your Majesty.

Your place is here as our queen.

- But--

- With all this
sudden destruction,

our citizens are terrified.

Carondolet needs you
more now more than ever.

- Perhaps she should go,
Belatha, as a show of strength.

- But she's only
just been made queen.

We need her here.

-She can't just leave us.
- Elders!

Last time I checked,
I was the queen around here,

so shouldn't I be the
one making decisions?

- Of course, my queen.

What is your wish?

- Belatha is right.

My duty to this kingdom
must come first.

- But Lyra, we are a team.

I need you.

- I have to stay.

All my life,
I wanted to be queen.

Now I am, and this is
what a queen must do.

I'm sorry, Niko.

- Mandok, will you join me?

- Oh, you're really putting
me on the spot here.

Carondolet needs its master
of coin now more than ever.

Think of all those unchecked
purses just lying around.

- Fine!

I will leave
Carondolet, and alone,

I shall stop Nar Est from
getting this amulet of power.

Goodbye.

(door slams)

(Flicker grunts)

- Oh, don't look
at me like that.

Lyra, back me up here.

Lyra?

- Your Highness, a word.

(dramatic music)

(Niko and Mandok scream)

- This place really
needs a doorbell.

- Mandok?

Have you decided to join me?

- [Lyra] We all have.

- [Niko] Lyra!

- (Flicker grunts)
- Flicker!

- Let the record show
I'm doing this under protest.

- What made you
change your mind?

- I did.

- [Niko] Sargous?

- Niko, you were right.

If the amulet of power is real,

then it poses a grave threat.

Though the kingdom
will miss her,

and so will I, Queen Lyra
should be with our champion.

- Right now, everyone's
looking for Nar Est.

The best thing we can
do is find this amulet

before it's too late.

- I do not envy you this task.

For years, I have sought
answers about the amulet.

Every time I get close
to a breakthrough,

something muddles my brain,

as if the amulet
wants to be forgotten.

But there is one who
will know the truth.

You must go to the
Forest of Fangs

and locate Windcrag,
the lore keeper.

Her memory is untouched by time.

Perhaps Windcrag may help
shed light on your journey.

Which reminds me,

for you, my queen.

- (gasps) Really?

- Your mind is clear.

You are ready to
begin the next step

in your training without me.

- Thank you.

- Uh, sorry to break up the
party, but the Forest of Fangs

is half a world away, and
our transport's busted.

(Flicker grunts)

Well, you are.
How are we supposed
to get there.

(engine whirs)

- [Chompsky]
Happy birthday, My Queen.

- It's Chompsky!

- Sorry to miss the party.

Your present had a
little engine trouble.

- Thank you, Commodore.

It's amazing!

- Yes. (laughs)

How about a spin
around the castle?

- Actually, how
about safe passage

to the Forest of Fangs instead?

- I serve at your command.

The aeroglider could use
a good shakedown flight.

It will give me a chance
to work out all the kinks.

- Kinks?

- Good journey, Your Highness.

We'll expect a daily report.

- I'll try.

Farewell, Uncle.

- [Niko]
Here we go, everyone!

Our new quest awaits!

- This sludge will
never wash off.

For nearly 800 years,
I ruled over these lands.

Now look at me.

I'm all alone,
without a friend in the world.

- (scoffs)
Really?

- No matter.

It will be daylight soon enough.

Somewhere, the amulet
of power awaits us.

And then--

- [Rasper] And then the
Darkness shall return!

- [Nar Est] (scoffs)
We'll see about that.

(dramatic music)

- Chirp.
