Nikita (2010–2013): Season 3, Episode 8 - Aftermath - full transcript

Nikita and Owen face off against a rogue "cleaner" named Liam (guest star PEDRO PASCAL - The Good Wife), while Michael takes a new position at Division. Michael and Nikita's relationship becomes strained as he watches her work with Owen.

Wow.

Heh. You wanna see "wow"?

EMG's picking up
myoelectric feedback.

Your brain is talking to it.
Show her.

Go ahead. Make a fist.

"We can rebuild him. We
have the technology."

Steve Austin? Six Million...?
Forget it.

- You said it would close.
- I said it would take time.

It's only been three weeks
since the accident.

One day with this thing.

- I thought this was cutting-edge.
- Sharpest edge we got right now.

Just gotta figure out
what your trigger is.

- What trigger?
- Emotional trigger.

Some people get pissed off,
the prosthetic reacts.

Some people just need a laugh.

Michael?

Oh. No, no, no. I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good.

Phantom pain. His body thinks
the hand's still there.

- When it remembers it's not...
- I get a friendly reminder.

What about your meds?

I'm not taking them anymore.
I don't need the crutch.

- Can you give us a second?
- Yeah, sure.

I know you can handle the physical pain, but
there are other things to work through.

What's it look like I'm doing?

We never talked about
what happened.

Well, we were attacked by our enemy.
I was wounded...

just like any other soldier
is wounded in combat.

- Are you forgetting how it happened?
- Of course not.

Nikita, we're at war.

Bad things happen during war. No
one knows that better than us.

You know what I know?

I've been sleeping alone
for the past three weeks.

I wish you'd come home.

Soon.

How's it going upstairs?

- It's quiet.
- Good.

Maybe the next time something pops up,
I'll be ready to get out there with you.

We got clipped-

- What do you mean?
- Deal went bad. Federales showed up.

We couldn't shake them.
They got us pinned down.

- Where?
- At the hacienda.

We got the money, Sefior Garza.
We're going to shoot our way out.

No, no, no.

Just wait. I'm gonna send help.

- What kind of help?
- The best.

Talk to me.

We've had chatter on that
satellite line we tapped.

A Mr. Garza, I believe.
May I ask who he is?

One of the top men in the Sinaloa cartel.
What's going on?

Some of his people were just
surrounded by police in Mexico.

He's calling someone for help.

- What?
- I got something for you.

What happened?

Three of my men are pinned
down in Nuevo Laredo.

Pinned down?

Yes, at the hacienda,
south of town.

Federales got them surrounded.

Of course they do. How'd
they screw up this time?

I don't know. That's
one of my best crews.

I'd hate to see the
rest of your operation.

I don't care how good you think you are.
But nobody talks to me like that.

Then I'll hang up.

Then you'll lose a lot of money.

I'm willing to double it.

Go do what you do.

My boys got the keys to the kingdom and
I need you to get them back for me.

Comprende?

- You said there were three.
- Yes.

They got firepower, so the
Federales are afraid to move in.

We got time.

I'll be there in three hours.

In two hours and 45 minutes,
have them demand a pizza.

- I'll give you a number to call.
- A pizza?

It is your stupidity and lack of foresight
that brought you to this moment.

Are you going to
question my planning?

Do exactly what I tell you,
and this will all go away.

Comprende?

It's a match. It's Liam.

Liam was a Division cleaner.
Now he's a rogue entrepreneur.

He's been hiring himself out.

- Why didn't I think of that?
- Weeks ago...

a program I designed with Birkhoff picked
up a pattern of cleaner-type behavior.

It all pointed to this man, Guillermo Garza,
a major player in the Sinaloa cartel.

We just intercepted a call. Garza's
top crew has barricaded itself...

inside a hacienda
outside Nuevo Laredo.

He's sending Liam to help.

- During a standoff?
- Right now. Which is why I want you two...

Take a good look, everyone.

If you are nice to me...

I'll even let you touch it.

But no high fives.

Michael.

- How are you feeling?
- Getting there.

I figured now is as
good a time as any.

Absolutely.

- Hey, Michael.
- Hey.

So let me guess. Our new
rogue is a cleaner.

- One of the best, unfortunately.
- Oh. You can probably take him.

I was just saying Nikita and
Owen need to be wheels up in 15.

Timetable is tight on this one.

Can I help?

Michael should come with us.

We need the support.

Now that Alex is benched.

Okay, these measure
your theta waves.

You're jacked into the
environmental system.

The deeper you meditate, the
more the lights will dim.

Though I still don't get why you're
into meditation all of a sudden.

Meds I was hooked on did a
number on my blood pressure.

Doctors say I have to get it
down to an acceptable level.

And Ryan won't sign off
until they do, so...

Let me ask you something.

Why'd you start using again?

I didn't wanna get benched.

I wanna be out there
in the fight.

You are so fired up to get out there
and put your life on the line...

that you'd take drugs and lie about
it just to do it? Why is that?

Does there always have
to be another why?

Heh. With you, it's little why dolls
stacked up inside bigger why dolls.

Sorry, that's
ethnically insensitive.

- Look, the point is...
- I'm so glad there's a point.

The point is, you
can stop using.

You can get clean. You can even
get your BP down to acceptable.

But just because you
cure the symptom...

doesn't mean the
disease goes away.

Namaste.

Michael seems to be
taking it pretty well.

He's not?

Yeah.

- Yeah.
- Yeah, that was convincing.

I'm worried about him. He's
keeping it all inside.

That's Michael.

He's a little uptight.

I'm just saying.

You don't know him like I do.

After Michael's
family was killed...

he buried his pain so deep, no
one even knew it was there.

When it finally came out...

he almost killed himself.

Your pizza is here. I'll have
one of my men bring it in.

No, no. He brings it in himself.

- No tricks.
- I can't do that.

He brings it in himself,
or we start shooting.

Let me take it in.

Absolutely not.

You're the guy?

- Take me hostage.
- What?

They have a sniper on you.
Take me hostage.

What is this? The old man
said he was gonna send help.

You got a plan, bitch?

- I hope you got a plan. Aah!
- Stop talking.

We're here.

Let's go make some doughnuts.

It's just a thing I say.

Oh, now this is gonna be
tough to do left-handed.

DEA.

We understand you have
Guillermo Garza's men inside.

We didn't call you.

- We're that good.
- And we're here to help. What's the update?

They ordered a pizza. They
took the delivery man hostage.

Probably halfway through
cleaning the scene.

We can't draw him out.

Can't start a gunfight with all
these itchy fingers out here.

Two-person stealth approach.

- Probably from right here.
- No, Nikita's right.

- They got the place surrounded.
- DEA, remember?

I can move all the people
to the opposite side.

- Move them?
- Small footprint, Owen.

We go in quietly. We grab Liam.

We disappear.

Oh, God. No. Please, don't.

They have a gun. They're going to kill
me if they don't get what they want.

- We're listening.
- They want lawyers. No, no, no!

No, please. Don't hurt me.

- They want to speak to a federal magistrate.
- Try to remain calm.

- Can they hear me? Are they on the line?
- No.

Don't say this out loud, but the DEA
is here and they're taking over.

They're going to get
you out of there.

We are moving back from the
house on their orders.

All right. Most of the
Federales are repositioned.

After insertion, make sure one of
you gets Liam to a choke point.

- Flush him out to the other.
- What are you gonna do?

Stay in the van,
monitor with infrared.

Okay.

Michael, what do you see?

Three heat sigs.

Two are fading. Only
one is up and moving.

He's in the kitchen.

Do you want us to move in from the
south, or vector from both sides?

Nikita, you don't need to include me
just because I'm stuck in the van.

Am I that transparent? Sorry.

It's all good.

Make your approach
as you see fit.

We're gonna split up. Owen
will take the kitchen.

I'll head east to flush him out.

That sounds like a
fantastic plan.

Don't all talk at once.

Or didn't you think I was smart
enough to hijack your communications?

We're not impressed.

Michael.

I heard you and your girl were
running the show, but Owen?

What are you doing here?

Cleaner class reunion.

I thought I saw you blow
a gasket on the news.

Bank robbery or some such thing.

You never did have
any self-control.

You were always arrogant.

Often arrogant, never wrong.

You're the one who's surrounded.

What's the first
rule of cleaning?

Anyone?

Why don't you tell us?

Before it gets clean,
it gets messy.

Very, very messy.

Nikita, clear!

Michael, target's
headed your way!

I don't get it. There
was one way out.

- You didn't see him?
- He had our comm.

He must have heard
Nikita warn me.

How'd he get the drop on
us in the first place?

I was in the van.

Nikita consulted with
me about an approach.

I wasn't there.

Tactical missteps could have
been made on the ground.

Like what? Getting blown up?

- Owen...
- Wait, wait, hold on.

I wanna know what the hell
you think a misstep is.

- You sure you didn't see him?
- I don't know what happened.

It doesn't matter. Liam is still out there.
He's not gonna leave any loose ends.

The laptop.

What laptop?

- He tried to take one from the scene.
- Why didn't we take it?

Got buried. We had to go.
Real DEA showed up.

I have Birkhoff hacking into
the DEA's command network.

If they took over, you can bet they're
doing a full evidence work-up on the site.

What good is that gonna do us?

As soon as they upload any photos or
reports, we'll know what they know.

And if there is a loose end, you can
bet Liam will try and tie it off.

That wasn't cool. He
threw us under the bus.

- You better be calling me on a secure line.
- So now it's my fault?

Your line was tapped.

How else would they have
been able to find me?

They? Who's they?

Old friends.

Well, because of your old friends, I
have a brand-new mess on my hands.

My laptop is going to the DEA.

- Where?
- What do you mean where?

Where would they store it?

Houston. The federal building.

The DEA evidence locker.

My laptop! My business!
Everything.

I understand English, Guillermo.

I'll tie this off in Houston.
Meet me there.

I'm gonna need security details
on the federal building.

Don't worry about payment.
This one's on the house.

Just get it done.

Think you killed it.

You were supposed to get
your blood pressure down.

Unless you came to tell me I'm back in the
field, I don't have an answer for you.

- You catch that cleaner?
- Not yet.

Hey. Look.

- I want to talk about Michael.
- Michael?

And Nikita.

Things obviously
aren't the same.

I'm worried how their
dynamic's affecting the team.

You've known them
longer than I have.

They'll work it out.
They always do.

Huh.

The day I met Nikita, Michael shot
a rocket-propelled grenade at her.

So it's not like I don't
expect some fireworks.

Michael is about rules.

He makes them, he lives
them, he understands them.

If you have to sit him down and tell
him he's benched, do it. He'll get it.

As far as what Nikita's
going through...

Best way to avoid an RPG?

Keep your head down.

This is no good. I want something better.
I still can't make a fist.

- It's the best I got, man.
- Right now.

You said that this is the best that we've
got right now. What do you mean by that?

We've got kill chips, brain scanners and
trackers that work all over the world.

I put a mask on that turned me
into someone else in seconds.

I've been thinking about grafting some of
that onto your hand. Make it look more real.

There has to be something more.

This isn't normal technology.
This is next level.

- Where do we get it from?
- I wish I knew.

Percy had contacts, suppliers.

Whatever high tech Division has came
from them, whatever we still got now...

- leftovers.
- So there is something more.

Who are they?

I don't know, man. Percy
didn't leave his Rolodex.

I don't know.

Come to show me up?

You got a new gun.

It's more compact.

Easier to manipulate.

Pete said it'd be
good for a southpaw.

You really know how
to hurt a guy.

- Still can't believe Liam got away.
- It's a crazy thing.

I checked your field gun when
we got back from Mexico.

Half the clip was empty.

Michael, you can't
run from this.

I'm not running
away from anything.

You're pretending like
it never happened.

You want to talk about it?
Is that what you want?

- That's not what I...
- That's what you want.

You want to tell me
how to deal with it.

- I want to help.
- I don't want your help.

I don't want your pity, and I don't
want to go over what happened.

You did what you had to do.
You made the right call.

- You act like I had a choice.
- Thank you for saving my life.

- Is that what you want to hear?
- Just let me in.

I don't blame you. I
don't blame anybody.

It just happened.

This happened.

And it's my problem to solve.

Why can't you understand that?

Because you said that
we'd do it together.

You said that we couldn't control the
future, but no matter what happened...

the only thing that mattered, the only
thing, was that we faced it together.

Not this.

Close, damn it.

It's not right.

What happened to you.

It sucks.

You always had a
gift for poetry.

You wanna know what else sucks?

The way you're treating her.

Owen.

I saw you in the shooting range.

- What?
- She saved your life...

and that's the way
you talk to her?

- You are way out of line.
- You should be on your knees.

Good thing she was in that car. She's the
only person who could do what she did.

Stay out of this.

Look, I can't even imagine
what you're going through...

but I know what it is to
carry something around.

You think you want to be
alone, but trust me...

you don't.

Michael...

she's hurting, man.

She's with me, Owen.

Stay out.

You get her a ring and what...

you own her?

- You're the only one that can care about her?
- Go away.

You know, I used to see
what she saw in you.

But now I'm starting to wonder.

Still can't make a fist
with that thing, huh?

You don't need an
icebreaker with me.

You need a super spy.

You could get security details
of that building by yourself.

- What are you up to?
- I just want your assurances.

- About what?
- The laptop.

After I acquire it, I won't be sold out
like your employees in Mexico, correct?

I loved those men like
if they were my sons.

I trusted them with everything, and they
brought the authorities to my door.

You bring me the laptop clean...

and nothing will happen to you.
Comprendes?

What about your enemies?
Do they know about it?

No, nobody knows.

The last three people
who knew, you killed.

Actually, there are two more.

Michael was right. He had
Birkhoff tap the DEA servers.

They've uploaded the evidence
from Garza's hacienda.

The laptop? Do we
know what's on it?

The DEA tried to decrypt it on site,
but it's got an AES algorithm.

Not an easy thing to crack.

But I'd use one too if I
had all my money on it.

- How do you know that?
- I went back to the original call.

I'm willing to double it.

Go do what you do. My boys got
the keys to the kingdom...

and I need you to get
them back for me.

Comprende?

"Keys to the kingdom," code.
The name of Garza's outfit?

Los Reyes. The kings.

If the laptop is key, then it's
Garza's electronic ledger.

DEA estimates he's
worth 50 million.

It's a treasure map.

- Where is it right now?
- Lockup at the federal building in Houston.

It's being shipped to Quantico in
the morning six hours from now.

- We think Liam will make a play.
- Oh, he'll make a play.

Then you two better be
there waiting for him.

I'll stay...

and monitor from Ops.

All right. We're all set.

Nikita, this is Ops. We
are live, and you are go.

The evidence locker
is on the 12th floor.

If Liam is not already there...

we need to quietly secure the
area and hold for intercept.

Either way, we'll have
to take him by force.

- Oh, yeah, can we?
- Ops, we're going in.

I got eyes like
Beyoncé got thighs.

- How's the facial recog coming?
- No sign of Liam yet.

I've got him. Garage Level
1, service entrance.

We're gonna split up, vector
from two sides, close the net.

Yeah.

No, no, no.

Now would be a good time
to step it up, people.

Can't get anything. He's
using a Division scrambler.

- He's reworked the encryption.
- You re-rework it.

- Still nothing.
- Damn it. We're blind.

We don't need the cameras. Birkhoff,
you're still jacked into security?

You can see which doors
are opening and closing.

- Yeah.
- Not a lot of bodies in there at this hour.

There.

Okay, that's Nikita. She
was just in that sector.

And that must be our guy.

And that's gotta be Owen. He was closer.
I need a comm.

Active comm ready.

Owen, it's Michael.

He's entering the west colonnade.
He's going for the elevators there.

Ops, he saw me!

He's in the elevator.

The rest are shut down.
Nikita, where are you?

East side, halfway
up the stairs.

Owen, you're closest to the west stairs.
Get up there, quick.

Copy that.

Michael, I'm outside the lockup.
You have eyes yet?

- Negative.
- Get me in there.

We could really use those
cameras right about now.

Michael, he's going for the door.
Lock it!

- Nikita...
- Do it!

You really got a thing for
Mexican standoffs, huh?

I got it.

Open the door.

It's just a wood door. Why
don't you kick it down?

Owen, where the hell are you?

On my way.

Okay, Nikita, listen to me. You're
gonna need to buy some time.

Tell your boyfriend
to open the door.

He's not my boyfriend.
He's my fiancé.

You should find a new one.
He's a terrible shot.

He only missed because
I cut off his hand.

- Excuse me?
- People say I should talk about it...

but not with you.

That's why he was stuck in the van.
I completely missed that.

Who knew there was so
much drama going on?

- What is she doing?
- Buying some time.

Losing a hand.
That's so permanent.

It would drive me crazy...

like a wound I couldn't heal.

Well, healing's overrated.

Nikita?

Set.

Owen is in position. Just
move a little to your left.

Owen.

Open the door!

Now.

Now, that was some choreography.

So why did we leave
the body there?

In his case, I would have
done the clean for you.

DEA needed someone to blame for
the massacre at the hacienda...

and Garza's murder.

I told them you and Nikita
were part of a task force...

that had been pursuing
Liam across South America.

What'd you tell them about Liam?

The truth. A contract killer
who got too ambitious.

I had Birkhoff plant a
backstory on the web.

- Wrap it all up in a nice little bow.
- Division lives.

Michael is gonna be on
the mend for a while.

We could use you around here.

Thank you.

- Hey.
- Hey.

Hey, um, how's it
going with Michael?

- How's your blood pressure?
- Gotcha.

I've tried everything. I even
tried meditating with Birkhoff.

- That sounds like a serious tactical error.
- You have no idea.

He did make a good
point, though.

I don't really know why
I started using again.

I keep running around this place trying to
find an answer and I keep hitting walls.

Then you need to stop.
Look in the mirror.

There is a reason why you
started medicating again, Alex.

Something deeper.

Whatever that is, you
need to recognize it.

I know. It's the only
way to get rid of it.

That's why they call
it getting clean.

But I want you to know
you're not alone.

Does Michael know that?

I hope so.

Tell him.

Tell him again.

- Hey.
- Hey.

Thanks for Houston, by the way.

I'm glad we got that guy.

You said that you would come home soon.
I'd say after today you've earned it.

I'm gonna stick around here for a few days.
Be near Medical. Work on a few things.

- Like what?
- I told you that I have to deal with this.

- Not alone. Not gonna let you.
- Nikita...

- You're not gonna torture yourself.
- I'm not.

You need to learn to live with this,
Michael. You and me, together.

This is exactly why I
don't want your help.

- It's not up to you.
- Or you.

I'm your fiancée. I want to be here.
I want to help.

You've helped enough.

Nikita...

Nice job.

That was real classy.

God!
