Naked and Afraid XL (2015–…): Season 8, Episode 4 - The Legends Return - full transcript

Three survivalists take a dangerous challenge. Dan and Waz hunt prey risking injury for food. Amber fights a caiman to feed her team. Steven's food source goes bad.

there's a reason
why people don't live here.

It's hard.

There's no telling
who's even left,
to be honest with you.

I mean,
it's brutal environment.

I'm here to show
that it can be done.

Do you wanna check line?

This one does not seem like
there's anything on it.

There's nothing on it.

- Oh . What?
- What?

this is the damn amazon.

I know what it's like.
I've been there.

I've done it.

Just try and tread
a little lightly.

Is that something right there?

Hell, yeah.
I'm coming.

survivors.

Hello?

hello.

Who's that?

No way.

what's up?

oh, my gosh!
I see somebody.

that's right.
The legends have returned.

Day 16,
past the quarter mark baby.

Boom.

Go ahead and hit up
that caiman nest
I hit the other day.

See if mom is there.

If she is, probably
gonna harvest mama, too.

There's probably
about another 18 eggs
left in the nest.

They're a great protein source
and the best part is
I can hold on to 'em.

It's a sustainable thing
that I can ration out.

We're approaching
the caiman nest.

Just gotta keep my head
on a swivel.

The mom could be back here.

She could be right
in the water's edge.

There's no telling
unless it's right here.

Really pretty dangerous
because even though
she wasn't here last time,

It doesn't mean
she's not here this time.

And when they come out
of the water,

They erupt out of the water.

I'm trying to be quiet.

While I'm doing this,
I just gotta be vigilant.

You can see, it's a few more.

Successful mission.

Head back to camp
without breaking any eggs.

Wow, look at that.

Oh...
Jungle is so thick.

God damn it!

- It's deep in the bog marsh.
- I can't.

You've got to be
flipping kidding me.

should we
jump back on the raft project.

- yeah, that's...
- That's a good idea.

All the logs are ready.

All the support beams are cut.

today is day 16.

This is the furthest
I've made it in a challenge

I'm really proud of myself,

But our team has gotten
into a few small arguments.

higher.
Use one hand.

are you micro-managing me?

I'm just helping you,
like, cut down tree.

It is a team.
But I'm saying, like,

Instead of delegating like
you do this and you do that...

but nobody's saying that.

You don't have to look at me
like that.

I've had a lot more challenges
than you.

Yes, but you're not the only
one with experience...

I have done
this for much longer...

I can outdo you guys.
I'm telling you.

Whatever, I'm... I'm done.
I'm, I'm done.

So we're just
trying to find a way
that we can communicate,

Building the raft,
but without creating friction.

Timber.

So if you wanna grab
one of those...

- Yeah.
- ...And bring both over here.

Yeah, we got 'em.

the dynamic
with our team is you either
get along or you don't.

I get
along better with one than
I do with the other.

You have enough cordage,
do you think?

Yeah,
I've got a decent amount.

But survival is adapting
and that's to your
surroundings,

Your environment,
and even your teammates.

It's paramount right now
to put our style differences
to the side.

Our ideal spot's right there.

It's the truth.

And get those things done.

Then we take the highest ends
and we remove them.

And then
we'll have an open area.

Before we build our raft
and attach it to our tree
like a floating dock,

We need to clear away
the hyacinth

And build a frame to create
our fishing area.

We can start here with it
and we could
always move it

Later on if we want
to put in more.

yeah.
I think that's probably the smartest thing

To do is start it closer.

Let's work, do this.

yeah, start it closer
and make sure it's,
it's gonna work.

No problem.

We're gonna
build it over there
and just walk it across.

We do not have a normal river.

It looks just like
a bed of grass out there.

And you can't fish through
the highest sense.

It's like,
they're impenetrable.

So to clear it out
is very important.

You don't have
much cordage left.

is this all we have?

no. I mean,
with what you're using.
If you frap it,

It will help it
be more stable.

so cross it under
and over like this
and then back around this way.

Yep.
You got it.

Great job.

One, two, three.

Hold it.
Balance.

Here.
Can I go closer?

You're, you're closer than me.

Here we go.

- You got it?
- Yeah.

Hey, I have an idea.

Why don't you pull
the frame towards you
so you can get them?

- Okay.
- Yep.

Just rake it in.

- Yeah.
- good call.

- good call, trish.
- Yeah.

Let's get some hyacinths out.

We gotta throw them.
Ooh.

I think
what tests your balance

The most is when you get bit
by a fire ant.

yeah.

we have so much tension
in our group.

They're just really
strong women.

They don't like to be
told what to do.

Ready? Go.

That's okay.
But the team effort, you know,

I really am just gonna
lead by example,

Which I have every day.

My corner is complete.

You guys
are doing a great job.

we know.

I appreciate
your management skills,

Trish.

five miles north

Dan
and waz have joined forces.

Is that a person?

people! I'm dan.

after a week alon
in the amazon.

Nice to meet you.

You happy if I come stay
with you for a bit?

Please.

but they've yet
to secure a large source
of protein.

This vulture come
and land by the fish trap.

God damn it!

I'm not very good.

For now, I'm just trying
to get my aim straight.

I've seen a ton of vultures
and hawks coming down here
to my little bird trap,

Which hasn't been
too fruitful.

Yeah.

Getting better.

So I wanna do
a little bit more
target practice

With my bow and arrow
and seeing if I can peg
one of those big birds.

Day 16.

so that means
we've got 25 days left,

Just over a normal challenge.

so we're normal challenge,
we got this.

day 16.

I'm feeling strong. Mentally,

I feel good
because we're getting

A little bit of fat
from the fish, which is good

But we're looking for
some bigger protein sources

I'm gonna go check the lawn
and see if we've got
some breakfast on there.

check the bird trap, too.

Anything in that trap
would be nice.

for sure.

It doesn't matter how skille
you are as a survivalist
out here,

A place like the amazon,
will just take you out.

People try and master nature
or they master the jungle
that's an unwinnable fight.

Nothing.

My goal is to
become part of the jungle.

And if you become part of I
and you give back to it

And you bring what you can
and you take what you need,

Then the jungle
will accept you.

And you'll get the gifts
that you need.

Here we go.

That should be good
for breakfast.

It's a little bit of rigor
in there.

Worst case scenario,

He's been
on that for 12 hours.

I'm going to cut him open,
see what he smells like.

Should be good.

It doesn't bother me
to eat a dead fish.

Each side has, has some
pretty healthy rise of eggs

I think this is
one of the biggest ones

I've seen
as far as the wolfish goes.

I really don't know
what made rod sick.

Maybe that fish that he cook
might not have been cooked
all the way through.

But if you cook fish
for long enough

Or whatever it's got in it,
it's not gonna hurt you.

I think it's gonna be fine.

I got the grill ready.

- Wow. It's huge.
- I know.

So I took it out, look it up
and up and cook
from the inside as well.

wow.

that's a chunk of meat.

but we need more
than, like, two fish a day.

yeah.

Capybara or eel or eagles
or vultures or anything.

I'm glad waz
and I complement
each other well,

But we need to get
some big protein score

If we're gonna have somewhat
of a chance of success.

It's where you set that trap,

And then we'll just keep
coming back down and checking.

Okay, use the guts.

set the trap up for a while

It just got
tripped once though,

So I'm not gonna write off
the trap yet.

Set.

These are
fish guts from a fish
we caught this morning.

Tell you that will attract
a vulture or two.

But I put a stick here
to try to make it wider

So it'll more likely grab
around the bird's neck
when it lands.

Maybe that'll help.

Let's see.

the last eggs in the nest.

Nine, 10, 11, 12,
13, 14, 15, 16, 17.

So that's four days'
worth of food.

I'm gonna use the calories
from that to go find
more food sources.

It's all about rationing.

I mean, I could eat
all those right now.

Like, I mean, I am hungry.

But, uh, you know, there's,

There's a way to go
about things,

Especially during survival.

I'm gonna go ahead,
I'm going to put these
on the coals right now,

Trying to, you know,

Kind of switch up
my eating methods
with my food cache.

I got these eggs.

I don't wanna cook them
the same every single time.

I wanna kinda explore
and expand.

Had a little egg pop.

I actually gave them
kind of like a nice
smoky flavor.

I boiled 'em.

I've put 'em
over the bed of coals.

I think I might do like
a little scramble

Or something here pretty soon.

It's a hell of a good day.

A tarantula's peeking out.

You can see
three of his eight demon legs.

I'mma let him be.

Respect nature
and nature respects you,
hopefully.

God.
Oh.

Hmm.

Come on.
Come on.

All right.

I have my logs.
These all float.

They're buoyant, hopefully.

The trick is it is gonna be
so heavy when you have
all of them built here,

So we can drag 'em
down to the water,

Test 'em in the water,

Roll 'em
to get all the ants off,
I'm assuming,

And start building.

- Nice.
- we'll just get it done.

So we should take 'em down
as they're gonna be set up
as the raft.

could we move this one,
this one, this one,
then that one?

no.
So the raft is going this one.

- then that one.
- this one.

- then that one.
- big one.

then that one.
Then small one.

- We can do that.
- That's fine.

Let's just
get this big one done
while we have the most energy.

Well. Let's start
with the first one.

I know, but we don't have
to roll it down.

Let's just get it over there
while we have the most energy
right now.

And by energy, if we just
how we pull it as we lay it,

It's just a smooth system.

Let's just do
the first one first

And then that goes behind it
and then we'll do the big one.

I'll move the first one
by myself if you want.

- Whatever.
- and then we'll do it.

Do whatever way you want.
Let's just do it.

Let's just do what?

move the log,
whatever log you want.

- Let's move it.
- No, trish.

I don't care.
Drag it, pick it up.
Whatever's easiest.

Let's just get
this done.

We can just tip it.
If trish wants

To use that energy
to tip it, then let's do it.

Cordage would be easier
on everybody.

- I don't care.
- But trish is motivated.

We're gonna tip it.
Watch out with your feet.

Come on.
One, two.

Push, push.

Bring it down.

- There it is.
- Nice job.

I am covered
in ants, though.

yeah.

ready to push
if you guys wanna use
your butts into it.

Trish,
you gotta push from there.

I am getting there.

One, two and three.

- Careful.
- One, two, three.

That didn't really do
what we wanted to do.

I'm tired of this already
mode.

I wanna get it done.

trish,
we're trying to do this
the best

We can with energy
that we have.

- what?
- You're rushing, and I'm like, we're trying.

how am I rushing?
And I'm bringing this log over here.

- It's what we gotta do.
-I'm glad you did it.
Shoot.

I'd move like
a couple of them myself.
Good job.

I get it, but why are you
bitching about it?

- You can't.
- you're micromanaging it.

I got the log over here.

I am micromanaging.
I know how to build the raft.

I don't need to,
I don't need to be
micromanaged.

Well, do you know
how to build a raft?

I got the log over here,
right?

No, I said, do you know
how to build a raft?

wasn't that the best thing...
I'm sure I do, yes.

I also know that this log
needed to be here,

And now it's here.

End of story.
Why is it a big deal?

good for you, girl.
Keep it up.

- I'm gonna call you out.
- Go ahead.

You're being a dick.

And?

You have had an attitude
since we started this project,

And I don't know
if it wasn't your idea

Where you're like,
being kind of weird.

I'm open for any ideas.

I just want us
to work as a team, and...

We are.

But until I just moved
this log without
your direction,

You had a problem with it.

So, jen can fish,
I can fish,
so we can get food.

I don't know
why it's a big deal.
What order it came in?

I guess
'cause she didn't order it.

That's why.

Trish, shut up right now.

No,
I'll never shut up.

I don't know
why it's a big deal
what order it came in.

I guess
'cause she didn't order it.

Trish, shut up right now.

No,
I'll never shut up.

- You're being so rude.
- I'll never shut up ever.

- The reason for the...
- waste of energy.

- Let's hear it.
- Let me tell you something.

Bringing them down here,

Having a system
that we're not working twice
as hard really does work.

You haven't built
a raft on a challenge.

I'm trying to help you out.

If you don't wanna do it,
don't be a part of it.

Why are you mad
that I brought this log
over here?

- Because you didn't ask me to?
- I wasn't complaining.

Whatever. Bitch to yourself.
I'm not listening.

It really just frustrates me
'cause, you know,

They look at me like,
"are you telling me
what to do?"

And I'm like, I'm, really,

I wanna say,
"yes, I am."

We need this.

I don't feel like
I started that.

but I think it was efficient.

You had the next log ready.

I moved the log,
out of here,
I don't need direction.

whoa.

Argh!

I'm almost asleep.

And my guts are like,

Bubbling. Man...
Is it the caiman eggs I ate?

Kinda freaking myself out.

Oh, god.

It's painful.
Oh, hold it in.

Hold it in.
Hold it in.

Hurts.

Ooh.

Trap got triggered.

is happening?

Argh!

Nothing.

Nothing.

Not a single thing.

Ah!

that was disgusting.

Oh.

So I tried to eat
some bonk caiman eggs,

Look, what happened.

I cooked them completely
thoroughly.

And, uh, so I had to take a...

Midnight amazon number two.
I feel better.

That was scary.

Midnight amazon
number two's no bueno.

Ooh.

it just smells rotten
and gross.

There's one soft spot on here,

And I think
this might be ooze.

Please tell me
they're still good.

Very pungent odor.

That's a rotten egg
right there.

I can't eat these.

Oh, yeah, this one is
sketchy.

Hungry, tired and dirty.

Ugh.

Now I need to focus
on protein again.

Amazon is absolutely ruthless.

That sucks.

Lot of birds were there
this morning.

a lot of noises
last night.

Thought the vulture
would take the fish bait.

Two triggers and no birds,
that's kinda disappointing.

I feel more hungry now than
I have in the whole challenge.

yeah.
I normally feel a little bit hungry

After I've let
something get away.

maybe this afternoon
I can go sit up off that log
at sunset,

You know, see
if anything shows up.

mm-hmm.

But we're definitely
gonna have to look
at other protein sources.

dan has done
a good job building
that snare trap,

But it doesn't look like
that strategy is working.

So I think
we're gonna change it up.

I feel like going for a walk
for that electric eel.

it's not a bad idea.

I saw an eel at the la
near the last place
that I was at,

Catching that eel
will be massive for us.

There's lots of fat on an eel.

Fat's gonna help you brain.

I'm doing a bit of
a cost benefit analysis.

Obviously, an hour walk
from here to my old place.

yep.

And then an hour walk
from my place to the lakes

That's two hours walk
and back that's
four hours of walk.

Worst case scenario
is if we don't catch the eel,

But we get fish.

The walk would take
calories out of us.

The fish would put
the same amount back in.

And we back to zero.

The obviously upside is
if we do get that eel
having all that fat,

Which is the thing
that's pushing me towards
that.

Oh, it'd be amazing.
I think it'll be worth it.

It's a little bit of a risk

But a big four
or five foot eel.

Those things are just loaded
with fat

And that's too big to pass up.

- Let's do it.
- Sounds like a plan.

So I'm just going to
prep this, uh, fishing arrow
before we go.

oh,
you got tied line under it?

Yeah.

Just less stuff we're gonna do
when we get there.

I've never killed anything
with a bow and arrow before.

An electric eel
is potentially lethal.

600 volts
can come out of this thing,

And you don't wanna be
in the water

When it does that first shoc

So with the bow and arrow,
you don't have to get
too close.

So I thought
I'd give it a shot.

You ready?

All right, here we go.

You got the fishing line
and everything?

yes, sir.

the amazon is filled
with sharp sticks and thorns

And the mud out here
is insane,

Filled with bacteria.

Careful of the black plum
right here.

It's a high-risk meal.

. But you
can't starve 40 days.

I wanted to finish that raft
and I'm just like,

I'm so hungry
and we're putting in
so much work.

We can't leave fishing.

yeah.

We're expending
so much energy building
the raft

And we're not eating
enough food,

And that's creating
some tension.

We need that fuel
for our bodies.

I know it within myself
that I need fish today.

he's really pretty,
this grasshopper.

fish, better.
I think he's pretty, too,

'cause I got one shot.

I wish I could see
some of the fish.

Usually, they're visible.

Down there I see
those small ones.

Yesterday was really tough
working on the raft.

So I'm gonna go out
and I'm gonna fish

And provide for the girls
so they have food
in their bellies

And hopefully, it'll make u
feel better.

I'm gonna cut up some bait
and prep it so I don't have
to keep doing it.

Get as much time
fishing as I can.

you wanna see this bait?

I found
a bunch of fish over here.

There's a bunch biting.

I'm looking at it.
Three of 'em.

Oh.

Where are you going?

gotta grab my hook.

oh, leave it,
leave it, leave it.

I'll give you a new hook.

Just leave it until
I'm done fishing.

- I thought you were pulling it in.
- Oh, no.

There's, like,
six of 'em in that corner.

It will startle them
if you get in the water.

- I'll give you...
- it's right here.

The hook is right here.

Trish came over
to my honey hole

As I'm fishing
and she got in the water.

What are you doing?

Try not to move too much,
trish.

They're looking at my bait.

They don't really
have anywhere to go.

Got 'em?

I got 'em.

Nice size!

Whoo!

We're eating tonight.

Let's get three more.

- Nice.
- get 'em, get 'em.

got 'em.

I was so stressed out
about her coming next to me.

And then
all of a sudden trish is
racking and stacking 'em in.

And we're taking
turns pulling in fish.

Three fish for trish,
keep it coming.

That's a good one.
That's a good one.
We need that food.

Rack 'em up.

between amber
and I, we got six fish.

Jen was on the top,

Ready to chop the heads off
and get them all stacked up.

Jen, you were like, master.

that's a good team
who can argue

And get their frustrations o
and then still come togethe
and get things accomplished

That's a good team.

O-m-jesus.

We're having fish tonight.

- fish tonight.
- Whoo!

Got them amazon fish
on the dinner plate.

whoo.
Long hike.

- Do not step off the log.
- noted.

We're getting
very, very close.

All right.

Welcome to my fishing hole.

It's beautiful here.

Wow!.

This is insane.

From this tree to those ferns
is all I've done.

I haven't even gone searching
all this and look down
that way.

It's just spectacular.

I feel like I've heard myths
about boiling lakes
and rivers in peru,

But this lake is literally
boiling with fish.

I'm a marine biologist,

And it's mind-boggling to me
that this lake can support
this biomass of fish.

There are so many
in such a small area,
that concentration's insane.

And I wanna catch one of the

here's one.

oh, yeah.

I use the grub to catch
the first fish every time
and both times was first cast.

All right. Here we go.

You get a few nibbles
before you get a bite.

Oh.

This is insane.

-I'm telling you, dude.
It's the hub.
-It's insane.

- The first cast every
time, baby.
- It's so crazy.

You know, it took
less than a second, man.

every time.

immediately, I pull in a nic

Medium sized wolfish.

But we didn't come here
for fish.

I'll string 'em up
and put 'em as bait
for the eel.

where's the eel hole?

here somewhere.

First time
I was at this fishing haul,

Rod and I had caught
a bunch of fish.

We had them
on a stringer in the water,

So they stayed alive
and fresh.

And within a few minutes,

We had a big eel come up
and try and take
those fish off the stringer

What I want to do today is try
and replicate that just to see
if it's gonna attract an eel.

This is gonna be the eel line.

- For the arrow?
- yeah.

All right, so we just
keep an eye on this.

Come on, mr. Eel.

ready?

Yeah, hold it straight.

that's a good sized one.

my tummy
is growling so bad, I'm like.

I'm so ready for this.

- Two days with no food.
- yeah.

no joke, man.

I'm so appreciative
of this meal.

we've been working so hard,
you know?

This is all coming together.

You know what I really
appreciate about you, trish?

what?

That even you and I,
when we get all worked up...

- I know.
- ..We walk away and do this...

- Right, yeah.
- Okay.

I think we're just, like,
older, and we're like,
"whatever."

- Okay, we're cool.
- Yeah.

- Let's just do
what we need to do.
- Yeah.

I was really glad to see
you guys working together.

I'm gonna keep tryin
'cause I don't give up.

I believe in my team.

Hey, man,
I'm part of the team.

I don't care
about any other thing

As long as
we work as a team to do
what we need to do to get by,

I mean,
that's what I'm here for.

Amber and I had
a little disagreement.

I got out
what I needed to get out
and moved on.

Had a great day
fishing and eating together.

This is so good, you guys.

Delicious.

Actually
I had fun fishing, too.

yeah.

she knows how I feel

She knows
I'm not going to take orders.

As long as she gets that,

I'll do anything
we need to do out here.

I am a team player 100%.

Sorry for calling you a dick.

sorry if I said
you were bitching.

We're not kissing.
We'll make up,
but we're not kissing.

Are you holding your
fish stick in your toes?

with my toes. Yeah.

- I love it.
- that's talent right there.

That is jungle talent.

Oh, I love it.

where's my eel, dan?

it's coming.

I figure,
like the splashing

And the log bite
in the water,

I thought it
would attract it over.

we've been here
for a little bit.

Why don't we go take
a walk quick?

Okay.
That could be a good idea.

- yeah.
- give me two minutes.

You could start walking
if you want.

Okay.

Waz has been out here
a bunch of times,

But has only seen
that little spot.

So I'm gonna survey
the coastline over here
a little bit more

And see
if we're missing anything.

Oh, ah!

Okay.
That didn't go in too deep.

Could mess me up really quick.

Whoa.

Hey, I'm over here.

Bring the bow and arrow.

There's a fat eel.

Big one.

Big, it's big, it's big.

There's eels in the amazon
that have been reported
shocking over 1000 volts

That can kill you instantly.

ooh!

pretty big...

I'm gonna need a minute.

we need your bow,
for sure.

I've got a million of these
things stuck in my feet.

But they only shock
so many times

And each time it diminishes

So if we shoot it
with an arrow,

That first
big jolt of electricity
would be out of the way.

Hurry.
He's moving around.

look all the spots
with the camera.

Where is he?

moving.
You see him.

Now, he's just
started moving more.

all right,
let me get in there, then.

Yeah, I'm gonna try
and shoot just
behind the head.

all right. There it is.

I'm taking it.

all right. There it is

I'm taking it.

yes!

bloody straight
through the neck.

Argh!

hold on.
Don't grab the arrow.

I'm pretty sure that eels
let go of a charge,

But I know the second one's
going to be about 300 volts.

And that arrow
is carbon fiber,

Which is gonna transmit
that electricity.

oh, my god.

It's, oh, electrocuted me.

Like when a wire shorts out,
zapped ya.

Felt it all through my arm.

Oh, god!

It gets you again.

I wouldn't...
I don't even...

You're braver than me
because I wouldn't be touching
that thing just yet.

okay. Pulling it out.

it might do another zap,
so just be careful.

- yep.
- - don't touch him, you know?

look how big it is, man.

I know. It's ridiculous.
That's six feet.

Oh, my god. It's huge.

- look at that thing.
- oh, man!

dan, do you even know
how much fat we're gonna be
eating today?

Oh, my god!
Argh!

A six-foot
massive electric eel.

It's just fat.

And I can't stress enough
how much this means to us.

Ooh, I got shocked
through the line.

Have you noticed
how I haven't got
shocked yet, dan?

yeah, noticed that.

This is a huge kill
and it really just

Hit the reset button
on our challenge so far.

We need to kill it

With like a machete
in the back of its head
or something like that.

whack it with a stick.

may the life
in you find the light in me.

oh, sorry, man.

sorry, buddy. Thank you.

So that's my little saying
that I always do anytime
I take the life of an animal.

I really
appreciated that.

the amazon is accepting us.

- so this is your first hunting kill?
- - yeah.

come here
and bring it in again.

argh! So, argh!

Good job, buddy.

Bow hunting in the amazon,
electric eel, check.

I can't wait to say...

- Look at this.
- Look.

Look at that eel
above your shoulder,

I think six foot.

Oh, easy.

- Oh.
- Easy.

Today has just been
a magical day.

It's uh, look at that thing.

Feels like
it weighs 40 pounds.

There's no need to hang
around here at all.

Let's just get back to water.

Get back, cook this thing.

Do you like
my fishing hole, dan?

I love this.

since the eggs
are rotten and gross,

I gotta get
a new source of protein.

So I'm gonna
build a little dock
so it's easier for me to fis

So I'm not crotch deep
in amazon mud.

That's what happened
with a leech on my manhood

That just legitifies
one more reason
why I need a dock right there.

Nobody needs leeches
on their man goods.

I'm just doing
just a small dock.

It's gonna get me
about six feet
off the shoreline.

With this in particular,

With my experience
in louisiana,

With team salvage,
they built a whole bridge.

that is
about a 60-foot bridge.

- First bridge.
- the first bridge ever.

I'll just be
doing something similar

Because there is really
no ground to stand on.

As soon as you walk in there
you just sink.

So this is gonna help me
be able to get out there

Without having to get
crotch deep
in the water.

It's gonna give me
an opportunity to be
able to fish easier.

It's also gonna help me
to get my water each day

Without having to really expel
a whole bunch of calories
just getting in and out.

And that's what's gonna
get me through the 60 days.

Whenever I build
something out here,

I have to use
primitive survival technique

Hopefully,
it supports my weight.

We'll see.

So what I'm doing,

I'm getting
the support braces.

I gotta get them deep down
into the clay.

It's about four to six feet
into this muck.

And then what I'm gonna do,
cross them like that.

And then I'm gonna put
a cross beam

And then I'm gonna do
the same thing on this side.

I'm gonna lay
some saplings across that.

So it has some support
on this in the bank.

That way I can walk out
to here without having
to be doing

What I'm doing right now.

When you're by yourself,

You gotta get
all the firewood,

You gotta boil all the wate
and you gotta build
a mini dock alone.

So it's hard
to conserve energy.

And that's my challenge.

So I'm just reinforcing

The dock part of my dock
to the cross beam

So it all becomes
one solid unit.

The more lashings
put into this,

The stronger
and sturdier it's gonna be.

It's where I'm standing
right here that would be
about this deep in water.

So super beneficial.

That's holding my weight.

Not bad for a morning's work

How do you guys feel
about finishing it today?

yeah,
let's work on that raft.

well, I'm going
to grab that cordage
right there.

- Let's bring our water down.
- yeah.

we've been working hard today.

oh, god. Yes, we are.

We had six fish.
We caught them.

We ate them.
It was wonderful.

Building lady taj.

I'm feeling great.

All right, let's do it.

Now it's time
to use this energy
to go finish the raft.

What do you think
about pulling out

Some of the hyacinths
right here?

I think that's smart.

Clearing the hyacinths
is a little difficult.

They're pretty dense
within the water.

who would have
thought we'd be gardening
in the amazon.

these flies are tearing me...

- Ugh!
- yeah, me too.

I need, like,
one hand to, like, fly swap.

are you guys
ready to drop the logs?

Are we gonna roll
one at a time?

we're gonna lift
the brackets

And they're gonna roll
in the water.

It's less work for us.

We can't be in front of it,
obviously,

So we've got to be behind it.

We're fine,
just don't pop 'em.

- We're good.
- Okay.

I'm really proud of my team
and how we're doing.

We've cleared the error
to finish the raft

And get it in that water.

And it floats.

oh, yeah.

Start with two on the base
and we'll grab me
one of the logs

And trish and I will start
weaving it up.

We're really moving
forward as a team.

We're in a good spot
right now.

we'll hold it.
I'll let you tie, amber.

there's ants
on the logs, guys.

great job on the cordage.

- Nice.
- You guys did really well.

- Okay, so that feels like.
- That's great.

Trish, push down on it,
on the solid.

- Oh, yeah.
- Yeah, now.

And we only have one beam
on there so far.

Yeah.
It just looks so good.

I'm so happy.

Three of these.
Ouch.

Ow.

I did not expect the flies
to be this bad.

This is the worst environment
I have ever survived
in with this amount of bugs.

This is the worst.
Hands down.

Ow!

All right, I got your back.

I'm on fly patrol.

It's how we gotta do it.

Let me... You tie, I'll slap.

oh, my god.
You're amazing, trish.

I've got
the fly watching job,

And I'm happy
to smack some butts.

looks good.

I think it looks solid.

you guys ready?

we'll test it out,
see if it floats.

- oh, boy.
- hang on.

Give it a second.

yeah.
We're going to need a fifth log.

a lot more.

We're gonna have to look
at the trees real quick

And get one more decent sized
one like this.

then the big one
will be in the middle.

Yep, it will be in the middle.

But then we're gonna have
to re-tie all the bottom?

Nope.
We're just gonna add on.

I mean, it is buoyant.
We just need more logs.

We built the raft together
and it's frustrating

Because the weight
can't even hold me.

But I am incredibly confident
we're going to accomplish
the mission.

Trish,
right here in the corner.

- mm-hmm.
- And then the corner.

- And that's all we need.
- gotcha!

Holy.

- What?
- A caiman.

- are you serious?
- I swear to god.

He just...

Yes, he just went under
the hyacinths right there.

- oh, yeah.
- Bro, it was like this big.

it's a caiman, baby.

we're excited.
The girls are coming.

I'm gonna show them
how to set the line
and we're going caiman, baby.

We need more protein.

Building a raft
is incredibly hard out here.

Fish is not gonna keep us
going building this raft.

Trish spotted the caiman
in the river,

Just around the bend
from where we're building
our dock.

Okay, so...

I'm hoping
it's the same concept
as catching an alligator.

I've caught multiple
alligators in my past.

I caught one in louisiana
with max and gary using
the same line set up.

We use that tree right there
to hold the meat up on.

As soon as the gator bites,
it pulls it down.

It will go into the water
with the gator
right about there.

Let's put the fish head on.

I saved the new fish heads
that we caught,

Which are great for bait.

Fish head
on the strongest point.

nice.

As soon as
it bites that it goes,
trigger's off.

- Right here. Not that...
- mm-hmm.

Set the line up
and I feel good.

And then the river connects
at the end of this.

About 15 yards from my line

There's a stream
that runs up into the jungl
and connects to our ponds.

So I'm going to use
some fish heads

And set some lines there too

In case that caiman
comes up this way.

Should be good.

We are ready to get a caiman.

So got out of the shelter
and I found a tiny
ass grasshopper.

And I pray, the good lord,

That this grasshopper
catches me a fish.

Protein's key right now.

I mean, it's been two days
since I've had anything
substantial to eat.

I got 40 something days left

I gotta get something
in my belly, feeling it,

My brain, my body's tired.

I just need
something in my stomach.

The dock expelled
a lot of calories

And I need to catch
a couple of fish.

Be surprised
what just a bite of food

Does for you when you're,
you're in this state.

I'm staying positive.

And that's the biggest tool
you can have out here
is your positivity

And your mental attitude.

Some fish today
and change everything.

That's the thing
about survival
and this challenge.

One day you're hungry.

Next day, you got more food
than you know what to do with.

It's disappointing
to come up empty.

You just gotta keep tracking
and you gotta keep pushing.

And, you know,
food is not just gonna
land on your plate.

You gotta earn it out here.

look at that.

What a beautiful sight.

Eel rounds,
roasting over an open fire.

Gristly, morsel bits.

This is a hard day's work.
And it's come good.

So we've got
this fatty part
of the eel here.

It's been cooking
over the fire for a while.

We're exhausted.

The big round trip.

And this is
why we do this stuff.

And this first bite
I can tell you right now
is it's gonna be magic.

Oh... It just melts
in your mouth.

It's just incredible.

Wow.

Wow.

We have eaten out here,
we've had protein,

But just a couple bites a day.

So this is something to be
so appreciative of the forest
giving us this moment

And it is delicious.

We're gonna be up
all night eating this.

This is like
a little water balloon
of deliciousness.

I just pulled
the back strap off the fire,

A little bit more texture
than the rest of the fat.

I'm gonna sick off
of so much fat.

look at that, partner.

yeah.

Having a fat nap.

My partner and I, we're
having a fat nap.

I think the amazon
has truly accepted us today.

We're doing great.

It is something rolling in.

It's got the fire raging.

Constant lightning.
It's strobes.

It's been thundering,
lightning.

Woof!
It just got cold.

That breeze just came
shooting through.
Right?

Oh, god.

We are ready.
We are ready.

Our shelter is ready.
We got this.

it's bad, though.

coming down.

Yeah.

ooh. It's cold!

It is as bad as it was day two
where it was incredibly
aggressive.

And it was freezing cold,

You could
feel literally the...

It's a really bad storm.

Man, that rain
just came out of nowhere.

Last night, I may have gotten
a total of hour and a half,

Two-hour sleep.

It was the coldest breeze
I felt.

And you start losing
your body heat.

I had to keep myself warm
to not go into hypothermia.

It's the first time
I've felt lonely
about being out here.

Out here
in the middle of nowhere
by myself.

Every challenge
I've ever had, you know,

I've always been
with a group of people
all the time,

Even though
this is the harshest unruly
environment I've ever been I

Biting flies, mosquitoes,
torrential death rain.

Being by myself.

It's the hardest part
out here.

check this out.

Monkey skull.

If that's not, like,
foreboding,
I don't know what is, right?

Snake could have got it.

Predator could have got to it.

It could have fell
in this mess and hurt itself.

There's no telling.

I'm just gonna
keep going day by day.

I'll be okay when I get
with everybody else.

Well, if there is anybody
else out here,
the jungle's terrifying.

I literally baited
all five fish heads.

I put four fish heads
and chum the water
with the guts.

We're gonna get a caiman.

I'm gonna scream to you guys.

Caiman on.

You guys gotta run over
with your knife.

I think
we should all just go
in as a pack to see.

yeah, I wanna see
that.

yeah, 'cause
I wanna see it right away too.

- live action.
- We'll just come with you right away.

Sounds good.

I'm gonna go check
the river first.

I am praying
we get the damn caiman.

The line is set so perfect.

The trigger is so gentle.

No caiman.

You wanna check line?

over here in the pond?

Yeah.
Look, I got... I set one here.

I got one here.

This one does not seem
like there's anything on it.

There's nothing on it.

I put one more line.

- Put down the road?
- Yeah, I did.

Look at that fish.
He's laughing at us.

He's like, "hahaha,
I took your bait, bitches!"

well, there were fish
jumping here yesterday...

yeah,
this was a good spot
where we caught the fish, so.

We're going
to the big one first?

I didn't want that
to be useless.

- That rotting meat.
- Yeah, I know it.

Well, I'm glad we used it.

Oh!

- what?
- what?

a caiman.

we're good.

Amber just yelled
"there's a caiman."

what!

Ah, look at him!

It's a caiman.

caiman.

- Oh, my god.
- we're in the amazon.

We're about to eat a caiman.

Babe.

- no way.
- This is thriving right here.

I set up two lines.

I put one down there,
and I set one up here
and like, my lines.

Look at this.
They're so jacked.

Wow.

Wow.

doesn't it feel so great?

Guess who's coming over
for dinner tonight?

You are.

Look at those loins.

this juvenile
dwarf caiman will provide
almost 6 pounds of low-fat,

High-protein meat,
but must be cooked
thoroughly

To rid it of parasites.

We got a caiman.

Dude, I wanted
to get a caiman.

Team taj.
Team taj got a caiman.

Right here.

Getting a caiman
was a huge goal for me
out here,

Especially with my team.

And I know
they wanted one so bad.

huge win for team taj.

Oh, my god.
We're badass.

Team taj, baby.
And you know what?

We are warriors in the amazon,

And we're about to eat
some caiman.

it got cold last night.

oh, yeah.

I'm impressed with
how well our bodies
handled all that fat.

After not having eaten
very much fat.

I think our bodies
did very well.

After eating a six-foot
eel with waz

And getting through
a storm last night,
I feel great.

It's like someone just
came to me,

Threw a bucket of water
on me,
and the veil has been lifted,

So I feel human again.

We have full stomachs.

I can't complain at all.

Now it's just the case
of keeping good spirits.

Uh, would you mind
coming over

And have a look at those
vines that I picked out?

See if we can rig up
some kinda road bench swing.

I'm totally
into increasing our enjoyment
of our time out here.

80% of survival
is a positive mental attitude.

When you feel good,
that's really gonna help
that survival,

Especially if you're looking
at 40 days or 60 days
in this place,

Which means today
I wanna build a bench swing.

What I can do
is I can strap these
to each other.

Cool. Yeah, I think
that'll work great.

Cute.

It's a very nice place
as far as our little
set up goes.

It'd just be nice to have
a bench to sit on
and enjoy the sunsets,

Meditate a little bit,
watch the water.

So it's a good spot.

I'll tie those two up
nice and tight.

Waz is out there,
working on our love swing.

Looking good.

Really, waz is everything
I want in a partner.

He's positive,
motivated, smart,

Easy to talk to
and has the same
survival style as me.

That's not bad at all.

We got this.

It's amazing to have
someone like that around
to share the load.

I think it's pretty good.

- Good work.
- You wanna jump on?

I do.

Oh.

Ready?

I'm gonna push you,
like, in a romantic movie.

It's huge.

- Wanna get on, too?
- Yeah.

Is it gonna be romantic?

I want just a place
we can come and sit.

We can put our fish
right here.

We can eat dinner.

That sounds nice.

Just sitting there
and swinging,

Feeling that breeze
on my face,

Looking out across the water.

It really does help
with that mental attitude.

It just is a place that
sort of recharges me
for another day.

I just need to find that
comfy spot
where I can balance.

There we go.

Ah.

If you feel like
I'm feeling right now
in a survival situation,

You're doing good.

I love it.

That's so nice.

Jen is gutting
her first caiman.

She split open the belly
like a professional.

Quite impressed.

- Great job, jen.
- Thank you.

Just remember,
the intestine is the one
you don't want to burst

Because it will
pollute the meat.

so you wanna get
the esophagus?

there it goes.
Keep going.

Get the membrane.
Looking good. Looking good.

And he's still moving.

yeah.
Is still moving.

look at that
tail.

How does it feel to gut
your first animal?

It's a lot of trial
and error out here.

I'm learning so much
from these ladies

And just being in the amazon,
all savage warrior.

She's not in training anymore.

This girl is full
on savage beast.

there's a little bit
of membrane in there still.

It is stuck in there.

Watch this.
Watch this.

it is gonna work it.
Yeah.

- oh, my.
- ooh.

he peed on you.

He just peed on us.

I started as a fan,
and I'm here on xl doing
things I've never done.

I'm learning a lot
from amber and trish

And proving my worth out here.

And I know
I'm a part of this team.

okay, go.

yeah.

Yep.
That was a good one.

Now we have so much meat.

The best part about
caiman or alligator

Is what we call
the jelly rolls.

It literally, as you eat it,
it expands out.

- Looks like a jelly roll.
- Mm.

It tastes like a tenderloin.

I got two layers of meat.

The other layer
is under there.

that's a big ass breakfast.

Yeah.

oh, my god.
It is juicy.

It just dripped.

jelly roll, baby.

oh, my god.

it, like,
dripped on my mouth.

it was very barbecue-y.

I like how it gets kind
of crispy on the edges.

It's fatty.

Oh, my god.

I feel like the nourishment
coming through us right now.

We've been eating little fish,
which are great.

They've been sustaining us
for over two weeks.

I have no complaints
about that.

But a caiman is just
like, humongous.

It is the first time
I've had, like,
a mouthful of meat to chew.

- That didn't have...
- Right, no bones.

That didn't have, like,
50 million little fish bones
in it.

This is just fueling my body.

I just feel the energy.

My first bite, grease,
just dripped down my chin.

The chin.
And I was like, "yup.
Welcome to the amazon."

Here is your caiman.

You earned this.

We are so excited about
having not just one meal
from this caiman,

But we're having two meals,
two full bellies
with all this meat.

Oh, it's so juicy.

but you saved
some, right?

I got a bunch.

This evening,
there is another leaf right
here

That I wrapped up you guys.

We have so much meat.

I wanna get a caiman.

I want a caiman.

I want a caiman.

As soon as I got out here,
I set up a caiman rig.

But I tell you what,
I didn't catch a caiman,
but I caught a fish.

I'm gonna go ahead
and prebuild a grill
and a smoker.

Last thing I wanna do
is catch a big animal

And not have time
to be able to get
it over smoke,

Fire quick enough.

Because if I don't get
it over flame
or smoke fast enough,

It's going to go bad.

I'm doing a two-tier system

I'm doing a tier closer
to the fire

And I'm doing one
above the fire.

The bottom tier is gonna
be more of a grill
to actually cook the meat

And the top tier's to actually
kinda slow cook it
or smoke it.

All right. I got my
two-tier grill-slash-smoker
system on lockdown here.

I'm gonna put a bunch
of green sticks perpendicular
across these two cross beams.

When I need to,
I can actually pick this up
out of the ground,

Put it over my fire,
put my green sticks on,

Lay my fresh kill on it,
start grilling texas style.

Look at that pretty
two-tier grill.

Now I need some
meat to put on it.

So stinky.

Crap.

We had it too close
to the fire.

Oh, no.

I'm so mad.

It's rotten.

It's, like, really tough
to go out there
and restart

When we had so much meat.

Pissing me off.

and on cue,
the flies are here.

last night by the fire.

oh, my god.

We were sweating
for probably three,
it was three hours.

- Yeah.
- the caiman meat.

I smelled it, and I go,
"oh, my gosh."
it was so pungent.

It was sweaty hot
in our shelter,
the meat spoiled.

And I'm disappointed
'cause we're not getting
our second meal,

And it has the most
majority of the meat
on it, is the body.

I'm so sorry, guys.

I didn't realize that
the meat would rot this bad.

It is day 20.

The meat rotting
is really frustrating.

Physically, I'm a little tired
but I'm confident
we'll get a bigger caiman.

I mean, that's what
we're here for.

I can smell that.

Oh, it is rotting.

It is ready to go.

It's like the worst date
you could ever imagine.

The smell.

This thing stinks.

I'm gonna go set
the lines with this.

Got a ton of bait.

I got a dead fish.

So I'm definitely good
at gators,

But caiman is like
a whole different ballgame.

The caiman are incredibly
aggressive creatures

And it takes time
to catch them.

They're incredibly fast
and they're smart.

Oh, yeah.

They love the smell
of a rotten carcass.

So I'm gonna hang this
right now,

And then I'm gonna chum
the water with it.

All right.
We'll see what happens.

New day, day 20.

Big mile marker for me.

A third of the way.

You know, I've been
out here alone for two weeks

And I've never been
through a challenge

Where I haven't had a partne
the whole way.

I try to stay positive.

I gotta find some protein
or else I don't know
how I'll make it to the end.

Ooh, little dwarf caiman.

So thick you just can't
see him in this.

Couple of dwarf caiman
splashes.

So that's awesome.

I can reset the caiman line.

I gotta get something
in my belly.

But problem is,
it's so thick
I can't even see it.

So by the time
they splash, they're gone.

I'm gonna just set it
and forget it.

Fingers crossed to put
some food in my belly.

day 20.

What are you thinking
of doing for the day?

I'm gonna look
for leaves for my bed.

I'll help you carry
leaves back.

We can bring a lot.

Let's bring the bows
with us, too.

we might have
a bit of target practice
while we're at it.

yeah, it'd be nice.

Neither of us are super
familiar with these bows.

I'm feeling
really good today.

We've had a really
good eating,
and I've gone to bed full,

So we're gonna go look
for some bedding material
for my bed

And take the bow
and arrow with us
and see what we can find.

This is a game trail.

the world's
largest rodents, capybara,
are excellent swimmers

And can grow up to four
and one half feet long
and weigh up to 140 pounds.

We're here. Just try
and tread little lightly.

You push through that way,
I'll come up here.

This seems to be a pretty
good spot for the capybara.

You can sort of see
it looks like
they've walked up

To the water right there.

You can sort of see
some footprints just
up on the surface, eh?

Is that something right there?

What's that?

Oh, you were right.

Is that an anteater?

Can you eat anteaters?

- yeah.
- You can?.

Do you want me to take
a shot at this
or you wanna have a go?

I'll do it.

I don't know
how quick they move.

Do you have a machete?

Just put it there
on the ground,

So either of us can grab it
if that thing jumps or runs.

Okay.

Machete's on the ground.

Anteaters are pure muscle.

They're powerful little
creatures.

And they have these
long claws on them.

They get to be like inch,
two inches long
and they are sharp as hell.

But that much protein
out here would be
an insane boost of energy.

And for a good marksman,
this would be an easy shot.

Unfortunately,
waz and I are not that.

But there was no reason
not to try to take a shot.

Let's see what happens.

- I didn't get it.
- You got a clear shot?

No, not anymore.

I'm gonna go.

Oh, it's moving.

he's at the very top.

You can't really see
him well.

I think
I can just climb up there.

I can scare it down.

If he drops,
I'll just jump on him
or club him or...

- yeah.
- Machete to the head or what?

All of the above.

Okay, keep an eye on him.

It's a risk to climb this tr
and risk mitigation
is becoming more

And more and more
important to make
it to the end.

Injury would take me
out of this challenge.

But a big mammalian
protein score
would be huge,

So I think it'll be worth it

I kinda lost.

so can you see him at all?

no.

I think
I can see its tail still.

he's moving
to your left, but slowly.

So as your head pops up
through those leaves,

You should be able to see
him almost straight up.

- You see him?
- yep.

He's five feet away still.

careful.

I don't know
how fast they are.

you can't give me
the boat now,
can't you?

I mean, I could
walk it up to you, but.

actually, yeah,
walk it up to me.

- really?
- I have a perfect shot.

Give me that fast.

I walked up.

Better than me
scooting up on my balls.

Dan's got good grip
and strength
and that sort of stuff,

But he is really high
in the tree.

I'll wait till
you're back on the ground
before I take a shot.

stand by.

All right, good to go.

I have a great shot.

If I miss this...

Did I get it?

No.

it sounded like a good hit.

see him coming down?

See him coming down?

oh, yeah.

- towards the water.
- yeah, I see him.

I'm gonna come down.

how do we get this
thing down now?

we just need
a long stick.

there you go.
I got you this one.

- You can hook in with that.
- yeah.

oh, you got
one between his legs.

And you got him.

just careful
of those claws,
but look at the size of them.

Oh!

Ooh, ah!

Help! Help! Help! Help!
Help! Help! Help! Help!

Oh, help! Help! Help!
Help! Help! Help!

Help!

- can't see him.
- Okay.

Is he in your hand?

Is he in your hand?

His head is near my finger,
my middle finger.

Whoo!
It got me good.

I can do it.

May the life in you,
find the light in me.

It's definitely dead.

It got me pretty deep.

I'm exhausted.

I can't imagine
what you're like.

It's a bittersweet moment.

You're excited for this win.

You're excited for what
you've just done
and accomplished,

But you're taking the life
of a creature out here.

And I didn't get a kill
shot and I should have
from that length.

I don't like that
and I don't want
to repeat that.

And now
I'm hurt because of it.

Oh.

whatever's in that
mud has gone all the way
in, you know?

yep.

Can we get a medic
down here, please?

Have a look at dan's hand.

Yeah.
I can feel air bubbles inside.

Wow.

Some claws.

I watched his skin
lift up an inch.

Like, it,
it went in like this.

And as it pulled out,
I saw your skin up to here.

It was a terrifying moment
watching this claw
just go in slow motion,

Too, deeper and deeper
and deeper into my hand.

Ah!

And it hurts like hell.

yes.

Basically the inside
of my hand filled with mud,
water and bacteria.

I'm terrified of infection.

I'm so scared of infection.

That's something that
could take you outta here
in a second.

And on top of that,
it's my hand.

You know, you need
two hands to do basically

All of your activities
out here.

Thank you.

We need to be better
hunters out here.

Shouldn't miss.

Oh!

We need a high five.

Yes.

Good on you, buddy.

Good job, man.
That was solid.

Just watching you,
watching you like
I could see you

Up in the canopy,
and you're like, push
the canopy out of the way.

It was just so good
just to be there
and watch dan.

You know, he did basically
everything today.

I was just watching
and commentating,
and now we're gonna eat.

This thing's pretty big.
It's gotta weigh about 30
or 40 pounds, I'm sure.

that was something else.

This is insane.

Like...
never something
in a million years

I thought I'd be doing,
but this was really,
really close.

And we need to hone up
our bow hunting skills
a little bit.

Someday we'll stop
being so badass,

And we'll work on your bed.

I'm pretty sure
my caiman bait's down.

My line's taut.
Something happened.

I gotta put
some meat on the table.

God damn it!

Junk.

It's tangled up.

You know, if he did
a death roll or something,
he could've got off.

On these challenges,
you fail more than
you succeed.

It's always
a concern about food.

That's the biggest thing
out here.

And when
you're by yourself,
it is all on you.

It can break you.

It can break anybody.

it is early morning
of day 21 and today
is a very special day.

We have somebody here
who has survived 21 days.

Jen, how are you feeling?

I feel really good.

I have completed 21 days.

I haven't reached 21 days
in my previous challenge.

This is a big deal.

This would normally
be extraction,
but I feel so good

That I am looking forward
to, you know,
just surpassing today

And 20 more days
with trish and amber.

Whoo, whoo, whoo!

she's worked
hard to get here,

And she succeeded
at everything I taught her.

But if I'm gonna get
jen to 40 days,
I need to feed us.

We're all going to check
all the lines together.

I'll show you guys
where the lines are set
and...

Caiman line,
fishing lines in the pond.

- We're set.
- All right.

Yeah. Let's get this
show on the road.

Food is always a gamble.

You don't know
if you're gonna get it or no

And if we don't do it now,
who knows what our energy
levels are gonna be like

In the days to come.

I put a chunk
of the ribs in here.

I don't know
if they even go for that.

Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!

- come on.
- ladies, look.

don't play with me.

- look at the line.
- what?

there's a caiman.

Wait, are you.

It's right here
in between the, the tree.

I'm gonna hold still.

all right.
We are not gonna mess this up.

is he on the line?

yeah,
he's on the line.

what's he doing?

I got my hand
on his head.

Jen, you need to come down
here and cut that line.

He is wrapped up right now.

T, can you get down here?

He is wedged between
two logs right now.

- you can see?
- yeah.

can you get him?

Holy.

Look at this.
That looks like dinner.

We got another caiman.

Two caiman, baby!

- that's insane.
- Fishing, day 21.

Two caiman!

- Oh, yeah.
- jen.

That's celebrating
your 21st day.

Oh, my god.
It is day 21.

is that all right?

Is this, is this enough
for your 21st day celebration?

Yeah, I think this will do.
21 days.

We're a bunch of strong girls,
and we have a lot
of drive between us.

We're thriving
and we're doing it our way.

And it's working.

Look at that belly.

- Oh, my god.
- Jelly rolls.

If anybody can survive
out here, I know it's me.

So here I am to take
on the amazon jungle
along with my naked family.

I know what it takes
to get through this place.

Time to start cracking
some skulls.

Yeah! Ha-ha!

Help! Help, help, help,
help. Help, help, help. Help.

We're about to eat
some caiman.

My guts are, like, bubbling.

the xls
or xl success metric weighs
each group's collective skil

And survival status
to determine the likely
percentage

Of reaching their
40 and 60 day goals.

Dan, vulture come
and land by the fish trap.

after several near misses..

god damn it.

...And a risky
trek into the jungle...

...Waz and dan landed their

First major food win
as a team.

- yes.
- Buddy.

but their
second big hunting score...

It got me pretty deep.

...Exposed
a dangerous weakness.

I didn't get a kill shot.

Now I'm hurt because of it.

their chance
of reaching day 40 as a tea
rises from 54% to 61%.

being by myself,
it's the hardest part
out here.

after 17 days
alone in the amazon...

we're approaching
the caiman nest.

...Steven's firs
significant food source...

it's almost like
my own little grocery store.

...Turned sour.

that's a rotten egg.

Can't eat these.

and his efforts
to focus on fishing...

my body's tired.

I just need something
in my stomach.

...Have yielded
less than legendary results

goddamn it.

his chance
of reaching day 60 alone
drops from 64% to 39%.

I really don't wanna
argue with you guys.

Whatever.
I'm done.

despite weeks
of recurring tension...

Trish, shut up.

No, I'll never
shut up.

...A need for foo
has galvanized the all-femal
team...

Nice size.

We're having fish tonight.

...Creating
a renewed sense of teamwork

and it floats.

I'm so happy.

and new,
unexpected opportunities
for success.

It's a caiman.

- no way.
- This is thriving right here.

their team
xls rating rises significant
from 41% to 65%.

But the fortunes
of all three teams
may be about to change.

Argh!

here
we are in the amazon,
baby.

now, tradition.

Girl gets a 21-day
savage post.

Now you made 21 days
and you are always
an amazing survivalist.

We had a couple downs,
but we picked right back up

And it's great to know that
there's no friction there.

We are all working together
as a unified team.

Thank you so much.

- I love you.
- I love you. I'm proud of you.

Savage warriors are here.

We had a massive blowup
and now we're working
together as a team,

But it's like it fluctuates
with them every day.

And I feel like the team
dynamic can change
dramatically.

I really do respect
trish and jen.

I just, I hope
they give that back to me.

We'll see what happens.

- Cheers.
- Cheers.

Cheers. Cheers to getting
you guys 90 more days.

- Love it.
- Yep.

And this is it.

we got a caiman!

Day 21,
caiman number two, baby!

Yeah!

it better be tasty.

it does look good.

Just stuffing our anteater
stew for the first time.

Looks amazing.

look at this.

so all of this,
mate, is just...

You could even pick it up
with a fork if you wanted to.

It's just fallen off the bone.

- Oh, that is good.
- it's good?

- That's good.
- That's tasty.

Okay.
Give me a piece.

Oh, wow.

it just melts
in your mouth.

because the humidity
is through the roof,

You really just can't preserve
anything well at all.

So we made this 12-hour,
slow-cooked anteater stew,

And the broth tastes like
something your mother
would bring you

When you're sick.

Fat, oil, gristle bits,
all floating around on top.

It is amazing.

get some good
omen in, our bodies
will be loving that.

that broke down
so nicely.

day 21.

That's it, buddy.

Normally, this would be
extraction day.

Today, it's like a massive day
for most challenges.

I know. I don't even
wanna think about it.

but it's just another
day for us right now.

definitely
progressed in this one.

Physically, I feel like
a different person

To the end of my last
challenge.

There's a couple
of big milestones today,

Knowing that I'm in uncharted
territory for myself.

I know dan's in uncharted
territory as well.

We've only done 21-day
challenges up until
this point,

So we're sort of pushing
through, seeing

How much we've got
in the tank.

How's your hand feeling, bud?

it's feeling okay.

It's feeling tight
and it's definitely more
swollen than yesterday.

But I think
that's to be expected,
considering what happened.

oh, 100%.

If it gets super red
and gets hot,

Then that's when we need
to start worrying, you know?

Yeah.

The fact that waz and I
accomplished things out here
I could only have dreamed of,

It's really
something to be proud of.

But it's really daunting
when you have to look
forward

To the rest of your time
out here.

I mean, my last 21
was basically alone.

This challenge has taken
so many other people already.

Yeah, definitely.

After cold night,
I figured out
what I'm gonna do with my day.

I'm ready for the big score,
man.

I need meat.

There is a reason
why people don't live here.

It's hard.

I hope not to be
alone for 60 days,

But I mean, there's no telling
who's even left,
to be honest with you.

I mean,
it's brutal environment.

Peruvian amazon.

No joke.

all I know is amazon
will punch you in the face,
knock you down,

Chew you up and spit you out.

And hell, yeah, I'm coming.

and I dropped
everything in my entire life
to come down here

To help the others thrive
to the end of this challenge.

The folks that are still here,
I hope they accept me
with open arms.

I'm literally here to help
someone else in their journey.

survivors?

Hello?

What the is that?

Hello?
Anybody here?

Are you kidding me, right now?

who's here?

Hey, I didn't invite anybody
to dinner or brunch.

Hey?

hello?

Who is that?

what's up?

No way.

oh, my gosh!

I see somebody.

who do you see?

what's going on?

are you kidding me?

Hey, hey, buddy.

Look at this guy.

No way, dude.

Hello?

Can I join you guys
in this party?

- what?
- what?

What are you doing here, man?

What's up ladies?

Sorry I'm late to the party,
but better late than never,

Right?

- jesus christ.
- this is insane.
