In the deepest

Amazonian jungles of peru,

Taking on the hardest of...

Survival
and physical challenges
on the planet.

It is a bummer
that I lost two partners.

You know, the amazon just
beat them down.



The elements, the bugs,
the weather,

Um, the jungle,

Just kind of took it away
from them.

But,

You know, that being said,
I still have a mission

And I still have a challenge.

So I'm getting my firewood
stash ready

To get the day started.

Looks like a coachwhip.

Oh, yeah.

with the amazon,

At the bottom half of my shi
my ankle,

my entire foot

There's a lot
of swelling happening.

I'm having trouble moving
my ankle, moving my feet.

And it's painful at times,

But it's just difficult
to move around,
difficult to walk.

So, I'm just gonna do the jo
that I know I have to get do

That don't involve
my feet too much.

Jobs around the camp,
collecting firewood,
boiling water

And then working on
the shelter.

Those are the jobs that have
to happen, and those are jobs
I can do pretty safely.

to where we can fish.

This stuff is really heavy,

So you can't really fish

Because of all the vegetation
that's floating,

We have no way
to get down to them.

I think our best bet's to get
that clear and just have
a hole to fish in.

The last challenge
I had in south africa,

My teammates
were literally about as far

As the opposite scale from me

As you can get.

you don't want
to burn that
it's the wrong wood.

so, it's really nice
to have waz as my partner.

To me, completing
the 40-day challenge
is the pinnacle.

You have to be a team player

Everybody has to have
that unity

And you have to thrive
as a group,

Not as an individual.

And I think waz and I,

We're gonna
rock this challenge.

rod's building
the fishing pontoon.

We gotta build a pontoon
that goes out.

Then we're gonna
dig away the lilies

And set a framework
up in the water.

So, we have essentially
just a hole

In the lilies that we can
drop the fishing line into

And catch the stuff
that's on the bottom.

And the thing
that sucks in this...

This thing,
I'm not a fan of spiders

And this is...

Covered with spiders.

When you get into
the water, obviously
there's anacondas,

You have your vipers
and different snakes
that can hurt you.

So, it's extremely importan

To understand the dangers
and how you're gonna
overcome those,

Especially when they want to
take a bite out of you

'cause you're dinner.

Everything is harder
in the jungle.

It's pretty awesome.

I feel a lot better today.

So, yesterday
I was feeling pretty sick.

Had to stop quite a bit,
threw up about four times.

Luckily, I feel like
I'm getting over that.

Let's get some
full bellies
and hydrate today.

Maybe we can get
some good fish,
set up a couple of lines,

And try to get some
more protein for us to eat.

I haven't worked
with a hook and line
on a challenge yet,

So I'm looking to
learn more from them

And help out
my team with fish.

So we're gonna get her fed.

fishing, we can all do it
and contribute,

Which is what
it takes to be a team.

their weight in blood.

Can leave my skin

Depending on how long
it's been on me.

pull it off properly.

Our shelter is not waterproof.

If we can get a better roof

It'll keep the smoke in
and the bugs out and let us

It rained for a long time.

Everything was just soaked.

on my shelter

'cause I don't have
the resources right now.

So I crawled into this little
side nook

Of our jungle mother tree

And, uh, it was dry.

I mean, it did the job.

I mean, no giant

You know, arachnids

Jumping on my face, yet.

That looks like a bullet ant

So, they call it a bullet ant

Because when it bites you,

It's supposed to feel like
you got shot

By a bullet.

So, I want to put him
far away from me.

That's what I'm going to do,

Now, we have this clear
little patch of water
that we can fish in

Making life a little bit
easier for us.

Let it sink and let it sit.

They're gonna be
passive lines.

So, I wanna make sure
I'm using a knot

Tied to this stick,
even if a big fish gets on.

Clove hitches are not that

As it gets pulled on,
it actually tightens itself.

Everywhere you go,
fishing is different.

It's different fishing
for barramundi in australia

It is fishing for salmon
or bass elsewhere.

They're all different.
They've all got
their own nuances.

What I like to do is
taking my time

Sort of learn the best ways.

It's just a case of learning

The water system,
learning the fish.

It's all about problem solving
and getting an end result.

done about that.

You try and compete
with nature,

You got a thing comin'.

It's not gonna go the way
you think it's gonna go.

we don't see anything

First time I've been
in the jungle hunting

And this is
extremely difficult.

Only thing you can do
is stalk or if you can
find a den,

You can lay up on the den
and wait for something
to come in.

But if I get lucky enough, um,

To be able to take a shot
on an animal, I'm taking it.

There's water there.

It's a stream.

It'd be awesome if there's
a caiman in there.

Let's go see if there's
an electric eel in it.

Oh, look at there.

There's tons of fish in there.

Must be a perfect spot
for an eel to be

Or a big old catfish
stuck in there.

There is one.

Son of a gun.

There's only a little fish
like that,

But I would've taken it
at this point.

It was like a little
striped bass.

We got a bird watchin' us.

There's a hawk.

I found a potentially,

Another resource, but I need
to get back to waz.

Maybe we can come over here,
at the morning and then fish.

Okay, that's the adventure.

Always something wanting

I was hoping that today
we can get some, uh,

Palms for our roof just
in case it looks
a little dried out

That we would really set up
well in case of a rain.

I'm gonna finish up my bed,

Part of the weaving.

on my bed today, too.

It takes a long time
to weave it.

I want everybody
to have their bed

And that way they can
have their space.

But we wanna finish making
these beds

As soon as possible

Because the most
important thing
is your shelter,

Especially in the rainforest

We can't predict
the weather here

When it's gonna rain.

And so, my mindset
as a survivalist

Is focusing on the basics
food, water, fire, shelter.

Always make sure that roof
over your head is secure,
no matter what.

I'm gonna go get some
palm frond for us.

I am worried that they're
using too many palm fronds

As their, for their bed
though.

'cause, I mean, like half
of our palm fronds

Have been put down
for their beds.

And I'm like, we need those
for the roof.

I have to be supportive
of my partners,

But we really have to keep
layering those palm fronds

To make sure that we're
protected from the rain.

Those are great palms.

amber wants to try
to work on the roof repair,

But I need to get my bed don

I'm trying to do
as much as I can

To at least sleep tonight
and be comfortable.

I mean, hey, I'm an old lady

I need, like,
a tempur-pedic style bed

That will hold my big butt u

I'm weaving
my bed right now.

I'm just finishing up
the mattress.

It's definitely
a tedious project,

But I think it looks
really cool,

It's really durable.

And I think this bed could
hold me all 40 days.
