Naked and Afraid XL (2015–…): Season 8, Episode 10 - Jungle Gangsters Out - full transcript
Wrong way.
how's it goin' in here?
hey!
oh, my god.
I'm so glad you made it!
We were worried about you,
the rain hit as soon
as you left.
great job, boys,
getting the, uh,
heart of palm.
Yeah, I hope so too.
- I thought about them.
- - jesus, rain's killing here.
That's the way it is
in the amazon.
Changes on a dime.
Well, it's been a, uh,
hell of a morning.
We've been tucked
away, literally...
...In this, uh,
natural blind...
...Uh, probably about four
and a half hours.
Um, we are wet
and cold, and...
And we have not seen
a bit of action.
Dang it.
We've walked miles and mile
these past few days,
And it's always hard
to come home empty handed.
But we still got stuff
that needs to get done.
We... We are not done.
If you think I'm gonna quit
you don't know
the king of the forest.
All hail the king,
kiss the ring.
Drop mic, pop.
I hate the rain,
but the first time
the sun comes out
And warms up
that bank over there
near the veggie garden?
There's a caiman
hanging over there.
I hate storms out her
in survival situations.
And, um, since the six
of us got together...
...We have not had much food
And it would be nice
to provide for everyone.
We gotta get, like,
a buncha caiman line set.
That's our best chance
of getting a big win.
I'm gonna put a little bit
more effort
In the morning to set
caiman lines.
Because we need it
before extraction.
just for some reason
it's just a real thorny area.
Steven and I just went
on this hunt,
looking for a big score.
Didn't get one.
ah, jesus.
you know, ej and I..
...This isn't our challenge.
We came here to help,
we came here to do things.
And there's four people
That have been here
since day one,
That are goin'
for their 60 days.
And I'm gonna push myself
every single minute
of every day...
...To hope that everybody's
belly gets full.
Family!
welcome home, brothers!
'sup, amber!
did y'all see
anything out there?
Unfortunately,
empty-handed
this time, but...
god dang it.
Full of intel on our minds.
yeah.
amber, waz and dan,
I don't think they realize
how tough this last leg is.
Only me, steven and matt
Have made it
to the 60 day mark.
We're not outta the woods ye
Anybody can go down
for any reason.
ah, I love it,
it's amazing already.
I'm grateful
you guys are home.
We were worried
about the rain and stuff.
That... That rain
just boned us, man.
- Yeah.
- Just boned us.
We've been out here
for two months.
That is a long time
for anybody to be anywhere.
yeah, everyone's
been working so hard.
You guys are battered.
More people have left here
than have stayed.
That tells you how tough
this place is.
- Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy.
- yup.
I didn't even think
about that.
When we split up
it's kinda cool
'cause we're gonna conquer
a lotta different things
at one time.
divide and conquer.
good luck, buddy.
Bring that dinner home.
I'm gonna head north
with the blow dart gun
in a little bit.
all right, sounds good.
steven and I
are gonna tackle fishing.
all right, guys,
see ya in a bit.
I'm gonna go
bait this line.
- she baited 'em.
- What?
The caiman line.
oh, oh the caiman line.
after starting
on a fan challenge,
Doing a 21 day
and coming to this?
Like, I could not asked
for any better
legendary partners.
Struggling together
for all of us
working to 60,
And growing together
as a team.
I'm really hopefully
all of us can come together
And bring in some big protei
before extraction nears.
I've done a lot
of challenges.
And the amazon is one
of those places,
if you don't truly respect I
It will swallow you up
and spit you out.
In ecuador, I was pulled awa
from the amazon too early
With a flesh-eating bacteria
is that more
of it there,
Is that what you're sayin'?
it's imperative
that you, um, have to go
to the hospital.
It's gonna have to be
taken care of outside.
I'm not ready to go.
I know.
and I'll tell you wha
not this time.
So, I'm gonna keep
through the hurt.
I'm gonna keep
through the pain,
The thorns, the bug bites,
the hell.
we're gonna
have to use our skills
to the max...
...So that we can have
food to sustain ourselves.
Without any meat comin' in,
The fish is the only thing
that's keeping us alive here
And I always tell my kids
back home,
"whatever it takes,
I'm gonna just keep doin' it.
It's doin' it to it
and makin' it 'til the end."
My gosh,
the fish are just not
hittin' right now.
this last leg
is always the most difficult
It's... It's perseverance
of will at this point in tim
This is our last stand
out here in the amazon.
there's a fish on.
Oh!
You've gotta be kidding me.
that sucks
that was a good fish.
dang it.
Shooting through this crap...
...Is absolute hell.
Shot was goin' good.
Hit one stick...
...Dropped about two feet low.
Tough, tough place
to send an arrow.
let's see if I can
Maybe spot a squirrel
or a flushed out tree rat.
Or... Just something
that can put a little bit
of food in our bellies.
And every challenge
that's popped up,
We've faced it
and we've overcome it.
We're in this home stretch,
And tryin' to keep goin'
and we want to finish
with something strong.
let's see
if I can pick off anything
with this blow dart gun.
woah,
look at this guy.
I have not seen this guy
in this area.
and I'm about to get me
some breakfast.
Argh.
I just missed him.
I'm getting so damn
good with this thing.
So close.
Been out here
for awhile now...
...About an hour hunting.
I found nothing.
hey.
Went about an hour south.
how did it go?
It was a beautiful walk
but, uh, nothing to see.
aw, man.
boom.
Nailed it.
Just got myself...
...A wee little tree rat.
And...
...Check that out.
Yup.
Aim small, miss small.
all this food talk,
nobody's talking about rat.
did you get
a pot rat?
jungle rat?
Yeah!
Thank god he found
a beautiful, delicious
tree rat.
And, uh, we all needed it.
I mean it's...
It's been a long day.
- Bam!
- you don't know cooki
'til you done cooked
a tree rat.
looks like
it's gonna be tasty.
I've never
had rat before.
so first thing
you wanna eat...
You're gonna make me
eat a testicle, aren't ya?
that's definitely
what you want to eat
right there.
I'll eat the testicle.
that's the good
right there.
Yeah, here we go.
It's not bad.
right? Kinda good.
when you're starvin
and tired and hungry,
Would I rather eat
that than nothing? 100%.
It's not...
...Super gamey.
Kinda tastes like squirrel...
...But different.
If that makes any sense.
I like rat kebab.
They should serve these
on a stick at every
baseball stadium.
meat's being split
six ways.
So that's only
a couple of nibbles
per person.
Everyone, cheers!
cheers!
Here you are, a bit of liver.
cheers.
how you feeling?
Tired.
ej is, uh, whooped
and, uh, he's tired.
Steven is thin.
He's thinner than he was
than when he got out
of 60 days in louisiana.
So that makes you
a little concerned.
Thank you.
amber, you know,
she's lost most
of her body fat.
And at this point,
I feel like she could lay
on a cheese grater
And might fall through it.
I'm also lightheaded.
You gotta wonder
if they have what it takes
To keep themselves strong
all the way to day 60.
so I'm sitting her
eating a heart of palm.
And this right here...
...Is my fourth tooth...
...I've lost...
...On naked and afraid
challenges.
Mmm-hmm.
I won't fail.
There's nothing that will
take me out of this challenge.
Nothing.
Amazon.
is savage.
Naked and afraid.
Story of my life.
we have to eat
as much as we possibly can
To make it to day 60.
Yeah.
but the problem
is the main river's
just not producing.
the fishing
is slowing down.
- yeah.
- But...
There's not that many
resources around here.
See if we can't up the...
Up the protein a little
intake, huh.
Nothing to hunt, so...
yeah.
- yeah.
- There's a... There's a creak.
oh, yeah,
the magic fishing hole.
Uh, it's about an hour
this way.
Yeah, well, it's a walk,
but it's a beautiful hole.
there's a risk
of, uh... Of going out there
For potentially nothing, so...
I don't know.
We got a six foot eel
out of that...
...Out of that, uh, place.
we could
cross our fingers,
And hope we catch a couple
of small fish here.
Or we could expel
the calories, take the time,
Go to a place where we know
we're gonna get food,
My old stomping grounds,
And bring home
the bacon, baby.
And, um, that's what
we're gonna do.
So, I'm gonna hold
down the fort here.
I'm gonna make sure
we got firewood,
fire's going.
We need more food.
We... We need a big score.
We're at the point now
where even, uh...
...Mundane tasks
are becoming...
...Cumbersome.
'cause, uh, they get tiring.
You know, we're getting
to the end here.
You know, I'm a warrior.
And I'm a soldier.
And I love being in the figh
But this challenge
has taught me
About humbling myself,
taking care of my body...
...Embracing
my age.
Oh,
And, you know,
This may be my last
naked and afraid challenge.
This is a combination
of rotting rat and snake guts.
If anything is going to bring
in a caiman,
It's gonna be this
nasty combination right here.
walking
a little faster than
a jungle pace.
Which is a... Which is nice
I kinda like it.
It's like the three of us
on a frickin' mission.
We're gonna hike
a long ways,
but you know what?
This is worth a try.
Yeah, this is the spot
both of you guys
hit up pretty hard.
yeah.
I know
the honey holes.
Never thought
I'd see it again.
I've done two back-to-back
60 day challenges
Within the year.
I put a lotta work
in to get here.
And, uh...
Coming here has been
a dream since I was a kid.
So until that extraction
vehicle pulls up,
And I sit my ass
on a cushion seat
For the first time
in two months,
I am working,
and uh,
I am surviving.
welcome
to the magic lake.
wow.
this is the spot,
this is what fed me,
and amber and ej
For weeks.
I was catching
monster fish out here.
There's a huge electric eel.
Hangs out right underneath
this branch.
You see a shadow come up,
Like, literally like
the loch ness monster.
I think its hole's
around right here.
Like, I... I saw it come out
of a hole right here once.
- It's... It's massive.
- Yeah.
That's a lot of fish.
it's unbelievable
until you see it, right?
it's literally, like,
yeah.
the fish are poppin
it's a beautiful sight
But we got to divide
and conquer.
I've been here
I know the spots,
I got my bait.
Waz is gonna do
the same thing.
He also brought
the fishing arrow.
Hopefully he can get
an electric eel.
Matt brought a fishing rig
and he brought his bow.
So he's gonna look around
see if there's any critters
We're gonna kill it.
how much bait
you got over there?
about
like six shiners,
Little bit of guts.
these are
some biting little fish.
That's exciting.
Oh, is that a fish right here?
Hell yeah.
Got one.
good job.
Yeah, boy.
get one?
yeah, we got
a couple of 'em here.
All right, little buddy.
Yeah, buddy.
get that out,
we're coming out
and having a full pot.
I'm gonna take a leak.
all right, man.
I'll bring my bow
just in case
I see something, but...
- big old oscar.
- ooh, yeah.
Bingo.
Pow.
This is an amazonian
brush-tailed tree rat,
I believe.
And the last one we had
was actually sweet
and delicious.
So, thank you, buddy.
Little hard to climb that tree
but appreciate your sacrifice.
Hey, waz, check that out.
Are you serious?
Dude, I swear
you could shoot stuff
with your eyes closed.
I think you could accidentally
drop an arrow
and hit someone in the face.
Add a little variety
to our mix here.
you walked away
for five minutes to pee.
I got seven big, old fatties.
- heck yeah.
- How'd y'all do?
- We got five
of these suckers...
- Couple fatties too.
- ...And got a little specialty variety.
- - what?
- it's 100% worth the journey.
- - definitely.
This is one
of my favorite days
right here.
- Yeah.
- Spending it with you guys.
hey, guys,
guys, guys.
there's
another rat.
Where is it?
right in that hole.
- Oh, just popped it's head up there.
- - yeah, yeah.
You've got to be kidding me.
Oh, it...
I don't even believe it
and I just saw it
with my own eyes.
I don't believe it.
- it, uh...
- Who are you?
I missed one,
I missed the first one.
You missed it on purpose
so nobody would know
your superpower.
and use the tree
as support.
And up, okay.
grab him
by the scruff of the neck.
Pull him out
while you're trying
to wiggle the arrow out.
Here he is.
- lost the tip.
- No worries.
I'll donate one to the amazon.
okay.
- that one's pretty.
- - yeah, it's real pretty.
I missed.
you missed on purpose, man.
Don't lie to me.
I feel like
you do it on purpose, man.
yeah,
you do that. You...
I feel sorry
he came out of his hole there
for a little there, I think.
all right.
- family.
- Hey, guys.
- whoa, look at those fish.
- Whoa, look at huck finn.
- we're home.
- you did it.
we did it.
Oh, my gosh,
I'm so proud of you.
- Good job, guys.
- - the miles we put in were worth it.
We got 11 total fish.
steven pulls out
a string of 11 fish.
That's more of a fish meal
than we've had
out here at all.
Since we merged
it's a massive score
of protein.
- we got a catfish on there.
- Wow.
- This is the prequel.
- best of dinner.
- What...
- Oh, my god.
and wait,
there's more.
- hey.
- Matt.
Who wants some red meat
with their fish diet?
- yes.
- - that was worth the trip, boys.
We are so close
to extraction at this point.
This is exactly what we need.
we're gonna eat
so good tonight.
We're chow rich, baby.
- Yeah, jungle rich.
- meat rich.
it was
totally worth it.
We started our meal.
We had a great fish boil.
Uh, oily,
fatty, deliciousness.
Just straight to the gut,
straight to the bloodline.
But wait, there's more.
There is another pot
With a little red meat
cooking in it.
That's right,
we got a double what?
Like sugar squirrel stew
going on.
- Yeah, we do.
- And...
An old sweet delicacy
of the brush-tailed tree rat.
- That's right.
- Yeah.
I never thought
I'd have surf and turf
in the jungle,
But this is a first time
for everything, so...
It's really good.
I'm out in the dark now.
Trying to reset
this caiman line
with a little rat guts.
Look at that.
It is stinky, smelly,
and it does not smell
like fish.
I think it will be something
that will entice a...
...Caiman.
A bit nicely.
I do hope so.
What's down...
What the hell is that?
Find this guy in the mud.
Huge ass caiman tooth.
Huge tooth.
Huge tooth.
This is probably
at least from like
A 6, 7 meter caiman at least.
They get
to be beasts out here.
If he asked me
if I was capable
of doing the 60 days,
Two months,
naked in the amazon
The epitome
of all survival challenges,
I would have said
you were nuts.
Truly separates you
from the pack
And I like,
I can't believe
I'm capable of that.
Like...
...The things
that this challenge
Makes you realize
about yourself.
You never forget.
The rest of your life
you take that with you,
You carry it with you,
you can find
and harness that strength.
It is absolutely amazing.
you guys hear that?
The third day of splash
where we were at
the caiman line earlier today.
People are already passed out
And then all of a sudden
we hear the loudest splash
I've ever heard on this river.
It sounds like
it was a huge caiman.
huge caiman.
yeah, I thought it was.
it was big
whatever it was.
- that's the one we're gonna eat tomorrow.
- - yeah.
we heard
some big splashing last night.
So I'm gonna go check
the caiman line.
Let's get closer.
I'm afraid it's gone.
Thought we might have had
something right there.
hey, waz,
what's the word?
unfortunately,
no caiman.
The line
got triggered overnight
But I don't know
if that was from a caiman
or something else.
There was no bait
on it at all.
So it could have
been eaten off by piranhas
- Or eels, or whatever,
I don't know.
- Yeah.
we got to get protein
for extraction.
we have
only six days to go.
We see the finish line
but we're in the middle
of the amazon jungle.
And the only way in here
is in a boat
And the only way out of here
is in a boat.
So, um,
we got to start a plan.
still six days
and 7 miles
From their extraction point
on the amazon river.
The survivalists face
a grueling journey north
Through waterways
choked with hyacinth,
and filled with caiman,
Anaconda, and piranha.
I'll head up
construction of the raft.
I came here just to help
in any way I could.
I definitely would like
to head up the project
for sure.
I've seen the boats
he'd make on these challenges.
when I was here
eight years ago
Laura and I
we built an amazing raft.
It was epic, absolutely epic
- Getting out of this place.
- Let's do it.
Time to go.
There we go.
I look at the raft, for me,
Just like my swan song.
Probably not gonna
come back again.
So I've got some thoughts
For us to have
a swan song vessel.
Cool.
- Absolutely.
- - you got my support, buddy.
he's just
like our dad.
He's the og out here,
you know?
He's one of the hardest,
strongest man that I know
And I'm there to support him
100% of the way.
He's my brother,
he's my friend,
he's my fellow legend.
So boats...
You know,
I like building things
'cause my father
was a carpenter
And boats and watercraft
have been, kind of,
a specialty for me.
If this is my last challenge
and my last row out
We're going out in style.
I want us to look
like a bunch of vikings,
you know?
And I'm thinking
a solid raft that's long
That could fit
all six of us on it.
Yeah.
we want to do
one big long boat
And, you know,
we're gonna keep it skinny.
So we can get through
all this hydrilla out here,
These narrow passageways.
so if I could have
just guys
And amber we need you
to do what you do best
And that is to get us food
'cause we need food.
Any time you guys need help
I'll be there to help
when I'm not fishing.
this is
our amazon uber out of here.
I think we'll set up
the boat side first, guys.
- yeah, get the logs first.
- Put the logs down,
And then bring the big logs in
and start, kinda...
...Lego it together
to see what we got.
- perfect.
- sounds good.
I am literally
the last female standing
out here.
This is my redemption.
My, gosh, the fish are just
not hitting right now.
It was so devastating
leaving louisiana last year
It broke my heart.
I'm sorry,
I have to medically tap you
You need to really
be evaluated at a facility.
I'm so sorry.
I want to finish
this challenge so bad,
But I am dwindling away.
So no fish on the line.
They all have bait.
We have to work
for every meal we get.
I'm gonna re-bait it
every single day
and reset it, check it,
And pray we get a fish.
one.
The big thing about the raft
is it just a few phases.
First, gather the materials
and make sure
they're gonna work.
There, I'll help.
Well, that's a lot.
we chopped down
some trees
For some lashing
about a week and a half ago
And it's a real soft wood,
it's super buoyant.
It's gonna be great
for raft building.
put it down
right over here.
- Whoa, whoa, got it?
- got it.
ej's design
calls for a base of logs
Held together by the tensio
of tightly secured
bamboo poles,
And an angular cut
on the front
To help maneuver
through the thick hyacinth.
all right, boys.
The front here
we'll try and start getting it
to the shape we want
Like a bow.
Some people
hack up the back end there
and make it look rounded.
So it's more hydrodynamic.
Done.
the raft's coming alon
really well
we've got the main structur
Cinched together pretty good.
Making it these shapes, man
Has definitely helped
move the boat along
definitely in the front.
- Yeah, it'll push those plants under there.
- - push those plants...
Yep.
all right, we'll use
these bamboos here
As tension bars.
we've got
the tension bars in place.
What we have so far
would float all of us.
So that's always a good start.
I got these two bamboos here
for the front tensions.
We just need to get
the fishing line going
And start getting
this all strapped in.
just doing
figure eights around.
Go in and out, in and out,
in and out.
- criss cross.
- - criss cross, applesauce and then in between the logs
You can frap it
to tighten them
in there better.
Pinch it up,
I'll just pull it tight
with this.
You can tie that off.
Yeah, there we go.
I'd like to be noted
for the record
That there is no possible way
that the front of this raft
is ever gonna fall apart.
- all right.
That looks great.
-solid as a rock.
building out here
Is one of the probably
most calorie demanding thing
you can do.
It's like going to a straight
hour crossfit workout.
Okay, I'm headed out
for a little bit.
good luck, good luck.
Try to outsmart
A bird that lives here
That's used
to every single inch
of this terrain.
It's called a horned screame
I'm hoping to get them
and one more.
So the tribe
could just have a feast.
That bird is tricky.
Getting opportunities on it
strictly getting shots
very tricky.
Getting clear shots
damn tricky.
I just hit a big old bird
way up in the tree.
Even though
it's got blood on it...
That bird was
a very tough chance.
But I don't want
to injure something
I don't eat.
The bird was able
to regain itself somehow
And flew off into this way.
So we have to find it.
Dang it.
dang it.
That bird was
a very tough chance.
And I took a shot
further than I've ever
taken a shot
And hit that bird.
But I don't want
to injure something
I don't eat.
So we have to find it.
- See ya.
- What's up, buddy?
- Welcome home.
- Suck ass. How you doing?
I had a little rendezvous
With a bird.
Oh,.
horned screamer was
at the top of the tree
nailed it
Ended up going across
the river, just over the trees
and disappeared.
You know exactly where it is?
it, uh...
'cause if you know where it is
we can go for a walk.
he's hit hard enough
That I don't really feel like
he's gonna be able
to fly up any higher.
he could have
hit a branch and pass out.
- Yeah and fallen all the way to the ground.
- - yep.
- It's worth trying.
- Definitely worth it.
You should get over there
and go find us our dinner.
The horned screamer is
a big bird.
It's probably got about
maybe 7 or 8 pounds
of meat on it.
- If I were you guys I would
just swim across the river.
- Swim across here.
You could either
swim across here
and I'll walk the shore
And we'll parallel each other.
- Let's do that.
- That's probably
the best bet.
bring home the turkey.
Matt and I
we are going
to his old spot
To sit down together
and help guide
the group there.
we'll be there,
just a few minutes up here.
we need to get
some people on
the other side of the river...
...And start a search party
looking for our dinner.
we got
our naked hounds.
It'd be no problem
Pinpointing exactly
where it went from here.
It's just to the left
of that tree.
When he dropped down
He went right
in that second
little v right there.
- right.
- - barely cleared those trees
Then disappeared out of sight.
There's a good chance
That bird went down.
we're coming up
right now, matt.
- it's right there.
- oh, I see you guys.
Where I shot it
was right here.
It came down
It dripped some blood
kind of right across
where you guys are
And took
an exact straight line
This way.
With just like,
from me to you
just keep that up.
- Complete 180 degree turn.
- - right here where this tree is down.
- Yeah.
- That way.
if you were
to guesstimate
how far in it went down...
My guess
I lost sight of it about
30 or 40 yards in there.
And that's where
it disappeared.
Should hopefully, it's here.
It's just such a thick place
if it went down anywhere...
- Anywhere, that's sometimes
could be hard to find.
- Yeah.
that thing could be
caught up over here
it could be on the ground.
Well we need
to look overhead as well
'cause it could have
just crashed into this stuff
and stayed up there, you know.
We all
spread out horizontally.
And try to stay in line too
as much as possible.
If people get
way too far ahead
Then it kind of it up.
In my job
I do plenty of surveys
all the time.
Looking for invasive species
Or different objects,
things like that,
as a biologist.
So I try to line everybody u
in certain intervals
Looking for this guy.
And we're just gonna
scatter ourselves
as well as we can
And see if we can save it.
You know so this harvest.
I just want to hear a scream.
You know, like a good scream
of success back there.
He could just
be 30 feet up a tree
And just looks like a bird
that can fly
But it doesn't want to fly.
How good would it be
if one of us just gets
Like a blood drip
on their shoulder?
- right?
- that would be legit.
Like predator stuff.
I keep seeing things
that I think are it.
be caught up 200
feet in canopy.
Kind of a crap shoot.
well, food will
go to waste, so...
Unfortunately,
the vitals on that thing
is like the size of,
Like a, like a tennis ball,
And, uh, it must have gone
through some other parts,
But didn't hit
the vitals 'cause he's
still, he's still up.
Which is a bummer 'cause he
he's probably going down,
It's just whether or not
he'll eventually go
down in front of us
He's not going down,
but he's hit,
And that is unfortunate
Because anytime an animal ge
away it's a horrible moment
think there's
kind of, like, a little trai
Going down to the river
straight ahead.
yeah.
Literally made a search
party looking for this thing
For a couple hours,
And, um, you know,
we didn't find nothing,
The jungle's so thick,
he could've been
in the canopy,
He could've been
on the ground.
I've not seen
one spot of blood.
Really looking forward
for a win like this, but,
The sun is fading quickly..
...Possibility is slim to none
able to find it right now.
we're not
seeing anything.
damn it!
They weren't able
to find it, and it's gonna
be getting dark soon.
We'll meet you guys
over back at camp.
yeah, roger that,
sounds good.
as the sun goes dow
You truly have to stop
what you're doing
And head back to camp...
Dang it.
...Because you
can't be too safe out here.
I never like when
something gets away.
Yeah.
Yeah, it always hurts
the soul a little bit.
Yeah.
And, uh, and when you're
out here and it gets away,
Hurts your stomach.
Yeah, hurts the stomach
for sure.
I don't know
for sure if we will
be able to find him,
But I'll tell you what,
I haven't quit yet.
if one of these
horned screamers
Fell in the pot,
it would be amazing.
Like, that would have been
a good meal for all of us...
Yeah.
...But, uh, we're all
pretty tired today, too.
yeah.
yeah, I normally
feel a little bit hungry
After I've let
something get away.
It's always rough,
you know, when you're
so close to a good meal,
And then you have to walk
away empty-handed.
We're all working hard
out here building rafts,
So, um, it's kind
of disappointing.
ready to go?
Yeah.
Waz and I, we're going back
out to hunt this bird...
...And we're headed back in,
and maybe even deeper
than we were before.
He gave us the slip
just purely because
He was, uh, he was a little
alarmed before we got there,
So, he had a lot of time
to find a hiding spot.
That's all right, we learn
little bits everyday.
mmm-hmm.
He does not.
no, you know
why? Little bird brain.
pretty soon we'll
have him, uh, we'll have
him in checkmate.
yeah, I think so.
look at that!
Oh, god!
What the...
got it?
Yeah, hold on.
All right.
Well, the boys just took of
Hoping to pick off a bird
for us to eat today,
But we need to keep
working on the raft.
There you are.
That'll work great.
yeah?
we can get a lot
of use out of this sucker.
We got the main
foundation done,
And now I have an idea
to make some rows for seats
So that once
we're on the water,
It'll be easier for us
to paddle and maneuver
the raft.
All right, we're in business.
Flatten her a bit.
You know, I'm out here
with dan who I really
like working with,
I mean, he's a kid
after my own heart.
Started out as a fan,
Did his 21-day challenge,
and finished it solo.
We're in business.
It looks lashed well.
He stays busy,
keeps his hands moving,
He's always buzzing around,
That's the way I do it,
And so, I see a lot
of potential in this kid.
All right, strap those
suckers down.
Once that gets done there,
that chair there,
Then we'll get that
last chair done.
You doing okay?
feeling a little weak,
but, um, taking breaks.
don't kill yourself.
I've been feeling
more and more lightheaded.
Like, I'm weaker than
any other challenge
I've done so far,
But it's difficult not
to be hard on yourself
When you're slowing down,
And some other people
are still moving around
and doing more than you.
I'm proud of your journey.
Thanks, man.
I'm glad to hear it.
Good, I'm glad,
It's a pleasure to watch
it happen, kid, in action.
I really appreciate that.
Things and points
of skills out there.
Doing really great.
I'm trying.
- Makes my heart...
- Learn as you go.
...Makes my heart
joyous, smile.
I'm glad you're here.
Thanks.
Ej is one of the most
knowledgeable people
If not the most
knowledgeable person that's
ever done a challenge,
And to now be working
hand-in-hand with him,
Could not be prouder of wha
I've been able to accomplish
This is his moment
to come full circle,
And this is my period
of growth as well.
And it's, it's interesting
because my sexuality
Had absolutely nothing
to do with why I started
doing these challenges,
And why I wanted
to do it as a person,
But after my 14-day
sand challenge,
I had so many kids
reach out to me...
...Telling me that they're,
they're living in small towns,
And they just don't see,
you know, gay people
in these roles,
Succeeding in these
outdoor survival challenges
And how much it
meant to them to, like,
Help them grow
and succeed as a person.
And, um...
...Was kinda shocked, like...
...It adds a whole new
element to these challenges
Because I didn't come out
here to be an inspiration
to anyone...
...But I'm proud to be
out here as a gay man
doing this,
And if I can be someone
that people look up to,
It's an honor, really,
And it's a big responsibilit
Okay.
Back to work.
hey, matt...
...It's right there,
The hurt one.
all right,
holy.
Look at him right there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
what we're
doing here is
There's a turkey already
out in the water,
So, I'm gonna crawl
through here,
See if I can get to where
I can see everything.
plan is for me
to swim across the river,
And then stalk
up the other side
To see if I can sneak
up on it, and pin it
between me and the water.
It's about 100,
150-yard stalk,
But the ground's really dry
uh, which means the leaves
are really crunchy,
So, pretty sure he's
gonna hear me coming,
and take off.
Now, he can't fly,
but he can walk still, so,
He's got a lot of hiding
spots over there,
A lot of places that he's
gonna be able to get to
That I'm not gonna
be able to find him.
the wounded bird
has spotted him,
And continues to sneak off,
And is now sneaking
up into the brush.
Well, I have no choice
but to mess up what
I never normally do
ever on a hunt
Is to yell from my blank.
Ahead of you about 30 yards.
If he doesn't get to him fas
he's gonna disappear.
I saw some black move
And I don't know what else
would be on the ground.
Ooh, look at that!
Ooh, jeez.
Got me a couple times,
got some thorns in me, but...
...But we got food tonight!
whoo!
Brother! Oh, my gosh!
yeah!
Way to go, buddy!
you did it!
We are so excited!
whoa!
We're gonna have
a Sunday turkey, yeah!
hell, yeah, buddy,
oh, that's fantastic!
It is a beautiful day!
Every time you take
an opportunity,
And you push forward
and you push yourself
to the next limit,
This is what's possible,
and right there, the proof is
gonna be in the pot tonight.
This is a, uh, this is
an amazing moment here,
We have put in some serious
hours looking for this thing
And waz has found that sucke
It's bird time!
Whoo!
what have
we got going here?
That's right, a big old
pot of a horned screamer.
I have yet to try
a bird out here.
It's just meaty, fatty,
greasy deliciousness.
Thanks to this guy!
Yeah!
Go ahead, waz.
before anyone
eats any of this,
I do wanna pay a little
bit of respect to this guy
Because he put
up a massive fight.
You know, he fought
all the way to the death,
- So, that sort of warrior bird...
- - yeah.
...Is very symbolic
of I think what,
- What the six of us have done out here...
- - yeah.
...Just fighting
all the way to the end.
nature respects
nature karma, man.
mmm-hmm.
It's really good
to have this bird,
And it's just nice when you'
able to help people out,
And lift 'em up a little bit
Well, that's tightened for me,
this decision to, to stay here
From the forty to the sixty
You know, it sort of all,
it all paid off.
This just pulls apart.
chewy, fatty...
...Greasy...
...Oily.
Oh, my good lord.
this is amazing!
- little horned screamer stew.
- Whoa!
- Skin and fat.
- That's really good!
Just skin and fat.
My first bird in the wild.
You gotta dip
it in this like this...
Like, yeah, you gotta
get the little dip dipper.
the largeous.
A little jungle largeous.
oh, my gosh,
it's amazing!
This is huge!
I mean, this will give us
strength and energy,
Gonna keep us pushing
harder to day 60.
We are feeling alive,
friends...
yeah!
...Feeling alive
as we could.
yeah!
everybody! Yeah!
love you guys.
love you!
live to fight
another day.
Stay savage,
be a legend, do it!
that meal
really was amazing,
But that doesn't mean
that we can, we can relax,
We can't take it easy
from here because we've
got too much work to do.
Do have a raft to build
over the next few days,
And, uh, we're definitely
gonna keep trying
to search for calories.
okay, see ya.
- alrighty.
- see ya in a bit.
the more
calories we put in us,
Just, the stronger our
finish is gonna be,
And that's what it's about,
just finishing strong.
'kay. Now I'm prepared.
you want some water?
thank you.
You're welcome.
the weather's
been really bad.
It's pretty hot today.
Yeah, thank you.
Hold on...
Oh, these flies!
I know. Kill 'em!
I'll get some more.
So, on extraction,
we have to hydrate.
It's key.
It's critical to our engine
continuing to paddle,
And if we run out of water,
It's all over for ya.
I need to build this
up maybe another level.
Do you think this...
Even if we gotta just take
a pot of water with us,
We got water to drink.
So, we can fit 'em just
right up underneath
there nice and easy.
I mean, literally,
it could be like this
- Cool little water box, and it just sits right in there...
- - yeah.
...Can't go anywhere
no matter what.
This works out great.
yeah, I think so.
cool!
we're getting close
to day 60 out here,
And this is almost
three times longer
Than any challenge
I've done before.
As much as I'm slowing down
as much as I'm getting tired
We need to sustain ourselves
and get through extraction.
We need food in our
bellies everyday
Before we get
out of this place.
So, if I can, uh, provide
a little fruit or carbs for
Before we leave,
that would be wonderful.
Whoa.
Oh, my god.
No way!
Is that from ej and laura?
That is not fresh.
Must be from ej
and laura's challenge.
Wow, that's special.
Ej and lz.
Laura zerra.
That's his partner
from eight years ago
Right when ej started
doing naked and afraid.
I watched ej
and laura's challenge
before coming out here
'cause I knew it was
in the same area.
I didn't realize how close.
They succeeded
on that challenge
When three other people tapp
out in this environment.
Man, that really
brings it full circle.
And not only that,
to be out here sharing
this moment with ej
On what might possibly
be his last big challenge
is really...
...That's really special.
I can't wait to tell
him about this.
I look forward
to seeing what you, uh,
What you're gonna
show me here.
You don't have, like...
You gonna get me
to a point and, uh,
Put a blindfold on me, are ya?
It's just up here
to the right, ej.
- really?
- yeah.
Excited for you to see this.
oh, my god!
Man, how'd you find this?
right?
oh, my god.
Thank you, amazon.
I'm in the exact spot where
I stood eight years ago...
...To the day where
laura zerra and I
Put our names in the tree
When we were
here in the amazon
So long ago.
Wow!
It's like my entire
naked and afraid
challenge career
Flashes before my head,
All the ups and the downs,
The struggles, the victories,
And everyone said
it couldn't be done,
We came in like
calvary and got it right.
I had no idea it was
this close in this area.
I can visually see his chills
through his whole body.
This is the sign that
ej's been waiting for.
wow.
Well, only one
thing to do, dan,
Time for you and me to put our
dang initials in this thing.
yeah?
- yeah.
- I love that.
it's my honor putting
my name here with you.
Seeing this, and you're
about to join the ranks
Of 60 days with us.
wow.
Out of all the people that
get to do these challenges,
For me to be the one
Standing next to ej,
the godfather
of naked and afraid.
I think we both realize
the significance
of this moment
And it's so powerful.
Maybe eight years from now,
I'll be back here.
that would be something.
Having it be dan of all peop
to find this out here,
That does my heart good.
The next generation
and the old guard,
side by side.
It's just special.
Very special.
Where's your knife, man?
cheers.
I'm glad it was you
that found it.
Buddy.
let's get you
to day 60, buddy.
it's day 59.
I've lost a ton of body fat
I'm probably the skinniest
I've ever been.
Um, strength-wise,
I'm definitely weaker.
- Crazy.
- right?
Crazy adventure.
Knowing that tomorrow
is extraction day, you know
we're right there.
- We're not done yet.
- Mmm-hmm.
perfect.
So it's just
maintaining that focus,
maintaining that hard work,
That eye on the prize
is what gets us to 60.
- alright, team.
- boo-yah.
good job.
ej, this is
the coolest raft
I have ever seen on xl.
- And I am quite impressed.
- yeah, thank you.
You know, ej's done
a lot of these challenges
as well as myself,
And it's not a surprise that
his raft is looking sturdy,
It's looking roomy enough
for all of us.
It's looking good.
well, we're not out
of the woods yet.
Because you know, last time
laura and I took off here
From the amazon
eight years ago,
We basically were on the river
for three days.
And that sun will destroy you.
tired and sunburned.
I'm thirsty and hungry.
it was tough.
You know...
If we start getting destroyed
by the sun and heat exhaustion
starts kicking in,
- That's a seriously
safety tap out.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- - so I want to put a canopy over this thing
And eliminate that problem.
- That'd be sick.
- heck yeah.
Boom!
Alright, dan, I can hold this.
- You got supporters?
- yep, strap it, wrap it.
- That should work, right?
- Yeah.
You could pull... You can...
Yeah. You can pull that one
and pull those ones back.
these are some of
the final stages of this raf
And we're putting
all the poles in place.
What those are gonna be
is part of the canopy syste
That I wanted to develop
with this boat.
- Got 'er, matt?
- Mmm-hmm.
Yeah, that's gonna
work great, matt.
It's getting a little heavy,
but that's okay.
We don't need anybody
getting beat up
- On the way out of here.
- Yep.
Should float well. It should.
Split one more,
use these as x-bars
across the top.
- What do you think?
- Yeah.
- gotta be strong.
- that dog don't bite.
we can just
start the roof.
here we go.
Alright.
And I'm gonna put just enough
palms up top to shade us.
- We're gonna have to tie these down, huh?
- - yep.
It's extremely important tha
we do have a canopy overhead
We are gonna be
sweating a lot.
Last thing we need
is one of us
to go down with heat stroke
- looking pretty good.
- oh, I'm so happy.
yes!
This is my last challenge
and that's what's driving me
I came here to help.
And that means
getting these folks
to the end.
- came out pretty good.
- it looks amazing.
It's amazon extreme.
It's got ej snyder
written all over it.
- Unbelievable.
- - it's definitely a raft to be proud of.
alright, family.
- I'm headed out for a little bit.
- - good luck, good luck.
- love you, matt.
- good luck, matt.
- thanks, matt.
- - you're gonna get it, man.
alright, guys.
See you in a bit.
It is so close to extractio
that you can feel it.
The last day to hunt
before this challenge is ove
We have to, as a family,
have a big old feast
for extraction day.
But for me,
it's also all about
internal pride right now.
You know, the amazon
is the only place
I haven't had success.
And that's why I push myself
for hours on end.
Just for that big score
of protein,
So that this time
I can feel complete.
And when you truly embrace
that savage side,
And you hunt
for those epic moments,
Anything's possible.
And that's a promise.
what I need
to do now is the tricky
part of the day
'cause I got to follow
the shadows.
If I get in the sunlight,
I'm just gonna glow.
So I'm gonna
follow the shadows.
Oh
Dammit.
time to check in
with the poop
tomato garden.
It has been a long run
for these guys.
60 days is a long time.
Don't I know it.
Getting to the end of day 5
And I have been working
on this garden
Since basically day one.
After I shat out those seed
and they all sprouted
And I transplanted them
over here,
I've been peeing on them
everyday, fertilizing them.
I don't think anyone's ever
cultivated a garden like thi
on a challenge before.
But um, unfortunately
they didn't produce fruit.
They... I just think
the soil conditions
just aren't perfect out her
Enough for them
to produce fruit
quickly enough.
But uh, leafy greens
is something
That none of us have had
any of on this challenge
And there's a lot of nutrients
that come along with that
That we are very depleted in,
that we could really use.
So, there's enough plants
here, enough leaves
to, I think, stew down
And really give us
a good boost for extraction
even bigger than we think.
Despite the fact that
there's no fruit.
If anything at all,
it was a moral boost,
Something to make me
smile every day.
I'm going to go back,
get out of the sun
and stew them up.
I think a fish is nibbling
on the line.
It's stuck under the hyacinth.
Got to get in the water.
I'm still standing.
I'm still here.
And that's huge for me.
I'm doing this
for my children.
I'm doing this mainly
for my daughter, leila.
She is gonna watch this
and she's gonna be like,
"wow, mom, you're a badass."
And I want to prove to her
that as women, we're capabl
of doing anything.
yeah! Attagirl!
Hell yeah, babe. Good job.
oh my god.
you know, amber,
super proud of her.
I know she was...
She was kind of
getting flustered
'cause she wasn't putting
anything on the table
And I know that's really
important to her.
Kind of a big one.
but she's
an amazing fisherwoman
And she's worked really har
to be out here,
which is pretty awesome.
thank you lord
for this food.
- So good.
- You did it.
Willed it to happen
and there it is.
Good job, amber.
Back on your game.
This is the most eggs
I've ever seen on a fish.
we can uh, put it in
- With the tomato boil I'm about to do.
- - okay.
I got my last fish
right here, baby.
This is it. The last fish
I'll ever catch
in the amazon.
We're gonna have some food
in our bellies tonight.
And we're going to have
an amazing fish broth
With some of dan's
tomato leaves.
I'm really excited.
We're gonna throw in
this little bad baby,
this proud moment of mine.
Last fish on the amazon.
- We're gonna have a fish boil.
- Yeah!
I'm stalking
in the brush once again.
Got him, baby.
Crazy.
got him, baby.
I was just walking through.
Didn't have time
to think about it.
I'll tell you what.
Been hunting a lot of days,
a lot of hours.
Today, I thought,
"you know what?
Magic's in the air.
I feel something about it."
My partners needed a boost
and I just delivered them
An extra big one.
Yeah, baby. The savage
strikes again.
I don't know if you can see
how dark it is,
But that last
little bit of light,
Which is
a dangerous situation.
There's a lot of fer-de-lance.
There's a lot of,
You know, dangers I need
to watch out for,
But you have to hunt hard
in order to be successful.
- matt's out hunting?
- of course he is.
holy crap!
no!
- Oh
- coming!
- oh, oh, oh!
- what?
- don't touch it.
- woah!
Hell yeah! All hail the king.
Big old oscar.
Kiss the ring.
bingo.
I swear, you could shoot stuff
with your eyes closed.
the xls,
or xl success metric,
Calculates the groups'
combined skills
and survival status
To determine
a likely percentage
Of completing the 60 day
challenge together.
more people have left
here than have stayed.
That tells you how tough
this place is.
two months
into the challenge,
The amazon has taken
a toll on the six
remaining survivalists.
- you lost a tooth?
- Mmm-hmm.
- oh my god, brother.
- dude.
making every
food win...
Ended up going across
the river just over the trees
and disappeared.
We have to find it.
...A battle
of persistence.
oh my god!
- yeah!
- you did it!
and the chance
to become legends
a matter of will.
this is my redemptio
I want to finish
this challenge so bad.
It's an honor, really.
It's a big responsibility.
now just one day
from a grueling river
extraction journey...
this last leg
is always the most difficult
This is our last stand
out here in the amazon.
...They need ever
last bit of protein
they can find.
when you truly embrac
that savage side,
And you hunt
for those epic moments,
Anything's possible.
Got him, baby.
and matt's arrow
has hit its mark once again
as a result,
their odds of reaching
extraction together as a group
Rises from 43% to 62%.
But it's never too late...
holy crap!
...For the amazo
to strike back.
- don't touch it.
- woah!
holy crap!
no! Coming!
- Oh, god.
- What?
- don't touch it.
- woah!
Matt just got a fer-de-lance
- is that the head?
I can't tell.
-let me see.
- There it is. Woah.
-oh, here's the head.
I found the head.
- Okay. We are safe.
We are safe.
-there it is. Nice.
Matt just got a fer-de-lance
coming home.
Hey, could you guys hold
my fer-de-lance for me?
- yeah.
- I also caught a horned freaking screamer!
no! We called it!
oh my god!
matt got it, baby!
I was just talking
about walking how
in the dark is a sketchy thing
And this son of a bitch
who tried to
interfere with dinner.
- damn.
- - he killed a fer-de-lance
On the way home with a bird.
Matt, you are the man.
These are going
to be lit.
Ow!
whoo!
start with the little
steamed fer-de-lance.
Everybody, go ahead
and grab yourself a little...
A little chunkeroo.
I got a big old bird.
Look at this guy.
- oh, look at that.
- oh, the bone.
If that's not some
gordon ramsay business,
I don't know what is.
Ridiculous.
we got a horned
screamer in the pot.
and now we got
a fish broth with all
the tomato leaves.
tastes like a tomato bisque.
I'm sure
it's 'cause I'm starving.
oh, that's one
of my favorites.
- oh my gosh.
- yeah, man. I love it.
wow.
Kinda tastes nice.
I mean,
why wouldn't it?
It hits there
and it's like, boom.
oh my god.
that's ten pounds of delicacy
right there.
oh my lord.
Lord have mercy.
This is literally
the last night
We're gonna be in our shelter
in our treehouse
And it's crazy to think
we've experienced so much
in so little time.
And it was an honor
to be a part of it
And to say I joined
the legends team.
I feel like a privilege.
I started on a fan challenge,
14 day challenge.
Did a 21.
And now, I went straight
to a 60 day legends challenge.
It's an incredible feeling.
Forever grateful to everything
these challenges provide.
A little bit of bird heart.
to be able to go ou
with a big, hearty meal
right before extraction,
That... That right there
is legendary.
How's that broth, ej?
on his possibly
very last adventure,
Eating his very last
meal potentially
on naked and afraid.
- How does it feel?
- It feels really,
really good.
It's there. You can't wait...
You can't leave
it off forever.
We have
accomplished just that.
-I love my family.
I love you guys.
-We love you.
hey, day 60 tomorrow.
That's right. Now we roll.
day 60.
I made it, baby.
It's been a privilege
to be with some of
The greatest survivalists
out here.
And the one person
I want to give a huge
shoutout to
Is my brother, steven.
Best survival woman
I've ever met in my life.
And I'm very... I'm very
proud of you.
We're going home, baby.
- Going home.
- We are going home!
- Yeah!
- Yes.
we are getting
out of here.
I made myself the badass
extraction outfit.
I got my horned screamer
wardrobe on.
My face paint,
my anteater claws,
My caiman tooth.
day 60, man.
I cannot believe I'm here.
let's pack up and get
the hell out of here.
bittersweet leaving
we're not done yet.
But the journey ahead
is arduous
And it's full of dangers.
We got to stay vigilant.
We got to stay smart.
And that's what we've
been doing for a long time.
So I know we're really
ready to get out of here.
We'll only take what we need,
Knives, a little bit of string
to repair this thing,
You guys got some water
to consolidate?
yeah.
put this one
on there now...
...So we'll hopefully be
fully loaded with water.
I'm getting déjà vu all over
about the amazon.
Because I said
that amazon extraction
last time was tough,
But this journey's gonna be
a long distance,
And it's hot,
heat's already up.
I don't think any of us
have been on any trek
like this before.
we have to go out
to the amazon up here.
- yeah, north.
- It's basically straight north.
We're down
in these tributaries
way down here.
So we got miles to go.
to reach
their final extraction poin
over seven miles away,
The survivalists
must head north
up the tributary,
Battling thick hyacinth
and scorching temperatures
Before entering
the open waters
Of the amazon river.
- that's a lot of miles we're gonna cover today.
- Yeah.
So everybody keep track
of your hydration,
And while we're rowing,
Every 30 minutes
if we have to...
- yeah.
- ...Take some water breaks.
Oh, yeah.
just gotta
be vigilant and do
what we do best.
That's what we've been
doing the whole time.
- We gotta look out
for each other.
- Yep.
Survival does not end yet.
give me
one, two, three, legends!
legends!
hell yeah.
so the raft
looks amazing.
Ej's done a great job
heading that project up,
But we gotta be cautious
getting this raft in the water
Because we're pushing it
down this hill on skids,
And it is so heavy,
if it gets away from us,
You know, there's a chance
someone's gonna get
caught under there
Or twist their ankle
or get cut up
or something like that.
We don't want an injury
taking someone out
on the last day.
all right, guys.
- all right, ready?
One, two, three.
-two, three.
damn.
- okay, two, three.
- two, three.
oh. Oh, wait.
Stop, stop.
Okay, yep. Got it. Oh, nice.
Just gotta lift on my side
A little bit to get
over the hump, and we're good.
Ready?
- One, two, three.
- One, two, three.
- Oh.
- - watch out, watch out, watch out!
oh, let's go!
let's give her a little
push from the back.
getting the raft
in the water,
slow and steady.
perfect.
- yeah!
- yeah!
- right there.
- what a beaut!
- Thank you, matt!
- nice job, everybody.
Good job.
ej had a vision, and he killed it.
It looks amazing.
Um, but it's heavy.
All right.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
wow.
- that's flooding now?
- yep.
this thing
probably weighs, like,
1,000 pounds,
And ej, matt, and waz
are probably 200 pounds each
There's a lot of weight
on top of it.
whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa.
We got a problem.
It's starting to sink.
It's too heavy in the back.
Maybe rotate amber
and steven back here.
mmm,
we're underwater too.
the bottom is sitting
on the ground right now.
, these logs
are way underwater.
we would be
sinking further if this bottom
wasn't touching.
We're sunk.
We got a problem.
It's starting to sink.
whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa.
so we're sunk.
I don't know if it's gonna
float in general.
the raft is sittin
a little low.
Without buoyancy, we're stuc
And to walk through the jung
To the amazon river
would take us weeks.
we're gonna have to
add logs underneath it.
We're talking probably
300 pounds,
400 pounds overweight here
at least, minimum.
Yeah, I think matt's right.
all right, I thought
it was a great idea.
In most cases, you want
to test your water craft ou
Before you even
get to this point,
But I felt pretty confident
on my estimates
Of how much wood
we had down there.
My estimate
was a little bit off,
And I can admit
when I'm wrong.
That's disappointing,
but it's what it is.
But I also knew
I had a backup plan,
And so when there's a problem,
Gotta go to the backup plan
- okay, we're doing all three of these?
- - yeah.
I adapt and I overcome.
one, two, three.
we have
some more logs
we cut down a while ago.
We're gonna cram them
underneath, and we're gonna
double our buoyancy.
We'll float twice as high,
And floating twice as high
will float us down the river
try this one first?
go ahead.
- there it is. Nice.
- yep.
let's get a second one
under right now.
okay.
- you okay?
- yep.
we've got
three extra logs that we nee
o get underneath this raft.
They're gonna run
longways on the raft.
That's gonna add
an equal amount
Of lift on both sides,
which is what we need,
And then we're gonna
get them strapped in.
one, two.
It's under.
- Nice.
- There we go.
Nice.
I'm hoping those
three extra logs
Will add 450 pounds
of buoyancy.
If not, we'll have to start
stripping this raft down
And lightening it up.
And we gotta get on the water,
we gotta get going.
sitting high.
yeah, it's some
good buoyancy there.
I don't know
if it's 450 pounds,
But we'll find out
pretty quick.
Okay.
Oh, yeah,
that's most of the weight.
And we're well
out of the water.
- oh.
- - it's floating much better.
we're floating,
we got a raft.
Nice job, team.
- Nice job.
- looks good.
- all right, let's try pushing off.
- - back it up.
we're moving guys,
looking good.
- yeah.
- All right,
So long camp!
all right.
Day 60, baby!
- We're on the water!
- yeah, team!
yeah!
lead our way
through this hyacinth.
yeah.
Hyacinths are ridiculous
in the front.
yeah, this is gonna be
a bit of a thing.
it could take us
all day to get 100 yards
in this.
oh, my gosh.
The hyacinth
and the vines are a nightmar
It's taking us so much time
to cut through them.
man, this stuff
is ridiculous.
hyacinth's thick.
It's exhausting.
You know, me and amber,
we have to move it
out of the way.
It's like two paddles forwar
one paddle back.
there's some
clear patches ahead as well,
So just keep pushing.
but we have to get
to this wider water.
The wider the water gets,
the faster the river flows,
The less hyacinth,
the less vines
there's gonna be,
And the quicker
we're gonna be able
to get to our destination.
Keep pushing, guys.
Keep going.
keep pushing,
we got no choice here, people.
got a long ways
to go, guys.
Long ways to go.
it's hot right now.
Sweating like a bitch.
It is mid-day out here
and baking.
The humidity
is through the roof.
holy hell.
Get some water back here,
get some water.
this is tough.
This is a lot
of physical exertion.
It's sweltering, it's hot.
You can feel it starting
to wear on people.
I gotta take
a little breather, guys.
I'm kinda in the sun
over here.
it's quite possible
That somebody could pass out
Thanks for the canopy too, ej,
'cause it's saving
our butt right now.
otherwise, we would've
been lobsters right now.
it is so hot.
Without that canopy,
we would burn.
It is unbelievable
how much that canopy
is saving our butt.
hell.
we're all hurting, guys,
just keep going.
Aw, man.
keeping this pace up
for hours is rough as hell.
every time I push
this paddle through the water,
I'm getting muscles
cramped up in my back.
My body's feeling it.
I'm aching all over my body
my back especially,
Cramping up with every singl
stroke I pull.
But getting home,
talking to my kids,
talking to my girlfriend,
That's gonna keep
pushing me through.
This is just rough.
Just gotta keep pushing.
Keep pushing.
dig in!
- keep paddling.
- keep going, dig in.
I don't have
anything left.
I literally am at muscle failure.
It is so hot,
But knowing this
is my redemption,
I'm never gonna
accept failure again,
And I'm gonna keep
working hard.
I believe in myself,
and I believe in
my teammates here.
This is the last push.
just gotta
get further out.
look at that!
Looks like a big lake ahead.
that's the amazon!
that's the amazon rive
whoo-hoo!
we beat you!
That's right!
whoo! Yeah!
we are officially
in the amazon river.
- Yeah!
- Yeah!
guys, check it out.
Is that a boat?
- Yeah!
- Whoo!
60 days in the amazon!
60 days!
Whoo!
yeah, buddy!
this is a huge
accomplishment.
There were aspects
of this challenge
That were definitely
the hardest things I've ever
had to endure.
That first week was one of
the hardest weeks I've ever
had to endure,
And that jump from 21 to 60
has not been done before.
Dan and I are the first two
to do that.
And when my grandkids
come to my kids
And say, "what was
grandpa was like?"
I wanted to come out
and have a record
Of this is who I am.
This is what I'm made of.
We did it!
yes!
I did 60 days
In one of the most extreme,
harshest environments.
The success in this is huge.
Failure was hard
last year in louisiana.
I get really sad
thinking about it
Because it was
the hardest thing
I ever failed at,
And I tried so hard,
and my body just wasn't
agreeing with it.
knowing I had
one last opportunity
To come out
on a 60-day challenge,
My heart needed it.
Whoo! Oh, god!
I feel like a badass.
I feel like
a strong woman leader.
I'm never gonna let
anything stop me ever again.
so proud of you,
sweetheart.
Only girl to make it.
Whoo!
my last challenge,
I finished alone,
And knowing that
I crossed the finish line
With this amazing team
of legends, all of us
are legends now...
oh.
...I t really just sho
how it doesn't matter
How different of a person
you might be from them...
- one more!
- ...We all share
- this common experience...
oh, man.
...To work and grow
and learn as a team, and...
...It's...
It's all worth it.
- Yeah!
- Yeah!
in ecuador,
I was pulled away
From the amazon too early
with a flesh-eating bacteria
Not this time.
This time,
redemption's been had.
ej, I love you, man.
We made it!
I came out here
this time to help the others
And right now, knowing
that dan and waz
And amber and steven
have made it
to the full 60 days,
- Is a true accomplishment.
- I love you, man.
yeah, yeah!
this is my second
60-day challenge.
I'm 6-0, baby. Team no tap.
- Yeah!
- Whoo!
you know,
if this doesn't "legitify"
Steven lee hall, jr,
I'm kind of a big deal,
I don't know what is.
I think I can
drop "kind of" now.
I'm a big deal, baby.
Right here, just now,
ej just may have done
his final finale,
And I have gone on
yet another journey
With some of the most
incredible people
I've ever met.
yeah!
this is my sixth
challenge completed,
206 days.
This was a tough one.
Being the very first one
to ever do this,
I have such gratitude
in my heart,
And what it's meant to me
In my life.
Couldn't ask
for a better ride.
I have mad respect
for this challenge
But I have to understand
my body and what this takes
out of it...
...And my heart will always
be out on this challenge,
And I'll be rooting
for the others all the way.
- To ej, yeah!
- to ej!
Whoo!
Yeah!
We did it!
oh, wow!
Oh, my god!
Oh, man!
- Oh!
- Look at this.
Oh, coffee machine,
I missed you.
- Oh, my god. I'm so excited.
- It's a whole plate
of mac and cheese.
champagne too,
I'm so excited.
smell...
Like, smell that.
- Oh, my god. Look at this.
- yes, get in here.
I think I'm putting more
on my plate than my stomach,
but I don't even care.
This looks so delicious.
eating such a huge
variety of food groups
Back in the regular world,
it makes you appreciate
everything so much.
Best meal ever.
- whoa!
- - this is what I've been waiting for.
- wow.
- That is so sweet.
Oh, my god.
I'm eating this steak,
and it's just dripping.
I'm still eating
with my hands.
I brought this in.
I figured I'd either be
drinking away my sorrows
Or celebrating
with you guys.
- yeah!
- Whoo!
- Cheers.
- Cheers.
60 day legends!
yeah, cheers!
Way to go, tribe, made it.
Ah, that feels so good.
Get rid of the funk.
Get rid of the funk.
oh, look at that.
Oh, I love my life!
Starving in the amazon
60 days.
This moment makes it worth it.
Oh, my god.
This is ms. Savage
at her greatest.
- Love you.
- I love you.
I love this woman so much.
Ivy, what do you
miss most about amber?
I miss all her love
and support for the family.
Well, we hope she comes home...
Wait a minute.
We missed you!
Oh!
oh, my god.
I missed you guys so much.
- Hello, my husband.
- Hi.
I missed you.
I don't even know you anymore.
You left me and the dog,
we were naked and afraid
the whole time.
Aw, I love you.
Look what I came home to.
Welcome home.
How sweet is this?
What's up, world,
steven lee hall, jr.,
the king of the forest,
And I'm out here
in beautiful, sunny california
On a giant ranch,
doing what I do best,
Uh, go on adventures.
Uh, but one of
the biggest questions,
most common questions I get
Is, uh, how are your teeth?
Did you get your teeth fixed?
Um, for everybody at home...
...I'm all fixed.
Now, I got pretty teeth
to match my pretty face.
Back in the woods,
doing what I do,
Living life and sucking
the bone marrow out of it.
Stay well,
Stay naked,
And survive on.
Yeah!
how's it goin' in here?
hey!
oh, my god.
I'm so glad you made it!
We were worried about you,
the rain hit as soon
as you left.
great job, boys,
getting the, uh,
heart of palm.
Yeah, I hope so too.
- I thought about them.
- - jesus, rain's killing here.
That's the way it is
in the amazon.
Changes on a dime.
Well, it's been a, uh,
hell of a morning.
We've been tucked
away, literally...
...In this, uh,
natural blind...
...Uh, probably about four
and a half hours.
Um, we are wet
and cold, and...
And we have not seen
a bit of action.
Dang it.
We've walked miles and mile
these past few days,
And it's always hard
to come home empty handed.
But we still got stuff
that needs to get done.
We... We are not done.
If you think I'm gonna quit
you don't know
the king of the forest.
All hail the king,
kiss the ring.
Drop mic, pop.
I hate the rain,
but the first time
the sun comes out
And warms up
that bank over there
near the veggie garden?
There's a caiman
hanging over there.
I hate storms out her
in survival situations.
And, um, since the six
of us got together...
...We have not had much food
And it would be nice
to provide for everyone.
We gotta get, like,
a buncha caiman line set.
That's our best chance
of getting a big win.
I'm gonna put a little bit
more effort
In the morning to set
caiman lines.
Because we need it
before extraction.
just for some reason
it's just a real thorny area.
Steven and I just went
on this hunt,
looking for a big score.
Didn't get one.
ah, jesus.
you know, ej and I..
...This isn't our challenge.
We came here to help,
we came here to do things.
And there's four people
That have been here
since day one,
That are goin'
for their 60 days.
And I'm gonna push myself
every single minute
of every day...
...To hope that everybody's
belly gets full.
Family!
welcome home, brothers!
'sup, amber!
did y'all see
anything out there?
Unfortunately,
empty-handed
this time, but...
god dang it.
Full of intel on our minds.
yeah.
amber, waz and dan,
I don't think they realize
how tough this last leg is.
Only me, steven and matt
Have made it
to the 60 day mark.
We're not outta the woods ye
Anybody can go down
for any reason.
ah, I love it,
it's amazing already.
I'm grateful
you guys are home.
We were worried
about the rain and stuff.
That... That rain
just boned us, man.
- Yeah.
- Just boned us.
We've been out here
for two months.
That is a long time
for anybody to be anywhere.
yeah, everyone's
been working so hard.
You guys are battered.
More people have left here
than have stayed.
That tells you how tough
this place is.
- Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy.
- yup.
I didn't even think
about that.
When we split up
it's kinda cool
'cause we're gonna conquer
a lotta different things
at one time.
divide and conquer.
good luck, buddy.
Bring that dinner home.
I'm gonna head north
with the blow dart gun
in a little bit.
all right, sounds good.
steven and I
are gonna tackle fishing.
all right, guys,
see ya in a bit.
I'm gonna go
bait this line.
- she baited 'em.
- What?
The caiman line.
oh, oh the caiman line.
after starting
on a fan challenge,
Doing a 21 day
and coming to this?
Like, I could not asked
for any better
legendary partners.
Struggling together
for all of us
working to 60,
And growing together
as a team.
I'm really hopefully
all of us can come together
And bring in some big protei
before extraction nears.
I've done a lot
of challenges.
And the amazon is one
of those places,
if you don't truly respect I
It will swallow you up
and spit you out.
In ecuador, I was pulled awa
from the amazon too early
With a flesh-eating bacteria
is that more
of it there,
Is that what you're sayin'?
it's imperative
that you, um, have to go
to the hospital.
It's gonna have to be
taken care of outside.
I'm not ready to go.
I know.
and I'll tell you wha
not this time.
So, I'm gonna keep
through the hurt.
I'm gonna keep
through the pain,
The thorns, the bug bites,
the hell.
we're gonna
have to use our skills
to the max...
...So that we can have
food to sustain ourselves.
Without any meat comin' in,
The fish is the only thing
that's keeping us alive here
And I always tell my kids
back home,
"whatever it takes,
I'm gonna just keep doin' it.
It's doin' it to it
and makin' it 'til the end."
My gosh,
the fish are just not
hittin' right now.
this last leg
is always the most difficult
It's... It's perseverance
of will at this point in tim
This is our last stand
out here in the amazon.
there's a fish on.
Oh!
You've gotta be kidding me.
that sucks
that was a good fish.
dang it.
Shooting through this crap...
...Is absolute hell.
Shot was goin' good.
Hit one stick...
...Dropped about two feet low.
Tough, tough place
to send an arrow.
let's see if I can
Maybe spot a squirrel
or a flushed out tree rat.
Or... Just something
that can put a little bit
of food in our bellies.
And every challenge
that's popped up,
We've faced it
and we've overcome it.
We're in this home stretch,
And tryin' to keep goin'
and we want to finish
with something strong.
let's see
if I can pick off anything
with this blow dart gun.
woah,
look at this guy.
I have not seen this guy
in this area.
and I'm about to get me
some breakfast.
Argh.
I just missed him.
I'm getting so damn
good with this thing.
So close.
Been out here
for awhile now...
...About an hour hunting.
I found nothing.
hey.
Went about an hour south.
how did it go?
It was a beautiful walk
but, uh, nothing to see.
aw, man.
boom.
Nailed it.
Just got myself...
...A wee little tree rat.
And...
...Check that out.
Yup.
Aim small, miss small.
all this food talk,
nobody's talking about rat.
did you get
a pot rat?
jungle rat?
Yeah!
Thank god he found
a beautiful, delicious
tree rat.
And, uh, we all needed it.
I mean it's...
It's been a long day.
- Bam!
- you don't know cooki
'til you done cooked
a tree rat.
looks like
it's gonna be tasty.
I've never
had rat before.
so first thing
you wanna eat...
You're gonna make me
eat a testicle, aren't ya?
that's definitely
what you want to eat
right there.
I'll eat the testicle.
that's the good
right there.
Yeah, here we go.
It's not bad.
right? Kinda good.
when you're starvin
and tired and hungry,
Would I rather eat
that than nothing? 100%.
It's not...
...Super gamey.
Kinda tastes like squirrel...
...But different.
If that makes any sense.
I like rat kebab.
They should serve these
on a stick at every
baseball stadium.
meat's being split
six ways.
So that's only
a couple of nibbles
per person.
Everyone, cheers!
cheers!
Here you are, a bit of liver.
cheers.
how you feeling?
Tired.
ej is, uh, whooped
and, uh, he's tired.
Steven is thin.
He's thinner than he was
than when he got out
of 60 days in louisiana.
So that makes you
a little concerned.
Thank you.
amber, you know,
she's lost most
of her body fat.
And at this point,
I feel like she could lay
on a cheese grater
And might fall through it.
I'm also lightheaded.
You gotta wonder
if they have what it takes
To keep themselves strong
all the way to day 60.
so I'm sitting her
eating a heart of palm.
And this right here...
...Is my fourth tooth...
...I've lost...
...On naked and afraid
challenges.
Mmm-hmm.
I won't fail.
There's nothing that will
take me out of this challenge.
Nothing.
Amazon.
is savage.
Naked and afraid.
Story of my life.
we have to eat
as much as we possibly can
To make it to day 60.
Yeah.
but the problem
is the main river's
just not producing.
the fishing
is slowing down.
- yeah.
- But...
There's not that many
resources around here.
See if we can't up the...
Up the protein a little
intake, huh.
Nothing to hunt, so...
yeah.
- yeah.
- There's a... There's a creak.
oh, yeah,
the magic fishing hole.
Uh, it's about an hour
this way.
Yeah, well, it's a walk,
but it's a beautiful hole.
there's a risk
of, uh... Of going out there
For potentially nothing, so...
I don't know.
We got a six foot eel
out of that...
...Out of that, uh, place.
we could
cross our fingers,
And hope we catch a couple
of small fish here.
Or we could expel
the calories, take the time,
Go to a place where we know
we're gonna get food,
My old stomping grounds,
And bring home
the bacon, baby.
And, um, that's what
we're gonna do.
So, I'm gonna hold
down the fort here.
I'm gonna make sure
we got firewood,
fire's going.
We need more food.
We... We need a big score.
We're at the point now
where even, uh...
...Mundane tasks
are becoming...
...Cumbersome.
'cause, uh, they get tiring.
You know, we're getting
to the end here.
You know, I'm a warrior.
And I'm a soldier.
And I love being in the figh
But this challenge
has taught me
About humbling myself,
taking care of my body...
...Embracing
my age.
Oh,
And, you know,
This may be my last
naked and afraid challenge.
This is a combination
of rotting rat and snake guts.
If anything is going to bring
in a caiman,
It's gonna be this
nasty combination right here.
walking
a little faster than
a jungle pace.
Which is a... Which is nice
I kinda like it.
It's like the three of us
on a frickin' mission.
We're gonna hike
a long ways,
but you know what?
This is worth a try.
Yeah, this is the spot
both of you guys
hit up pretty hard.
yeah.
I know
the honey holes.
Never thought
I'd see it again.
I've done two back-to-back
60 day challenges
Within the year.
I put a lotta work
in to get here.
And, uh...
Coming here has been
a dream since I was a kid.
So until that extraction
vehicle pulls up,
And I sit my ass
on a cushion seat
For the first time
in two months,
I am working,
and uh,
I am surviving.
welcome
to the magic lake.
wow.
this is the spot,
this is what fed me,
and amber and ej
For weeks.
I was catching
monster fish out here.
There's a huge electric eel.
Hangs out right underneath
this branch.
You see a shadow come up,
Like, literally like
the loch ness monster.
I think its hole's
around right here.
Like, I... I saw it come out
of a hole right here once.
- It's... It's massive.
- Yeah.
That's a lot of fish.
it's unbelievable
until you see it, right?
it's literally, like,
yeah.
the fish are poppin
it's a beautiful sight
But we got to divide
and conquer.
I've been here
I know the spots,
I got my bait.
Waz is gonna do
the same thing.
He also brought
the fishing arrow.
Hopefully he can get
an electric eel.
Matt brought a fishing rig
and he brought his bow.
So he's gonna look around
see if there's any critters
We're gonna kill it.
how much bait
you got over there?
about
like six shiners,
Little bit of guts.
these are
some biting little fish.
That's exciting.
Oh, is that a fish right here?
Hell yeah.
Got one.
good job.
Yeah, boy.
get one?
yeah, we got
a couple of 'em here.
All right, little buddy.
Yeah, buddy.
get that out,
we're coming out
and having a full pot.
I'm gonna take a leak.
all right, man.
I'll bring my bow
just in case
I see something, but...
- big old oscar.
- ooh, yeah.
Bingo.
Pow.
This is an amazonian
brush-tailed tree rat,
I believe.
And the last one we had
was actually sweet
and delicious.
So, thank you, buddy.
Little hard to climb that tree
but appreciate your sacrifice.
Hey, waz, check that out.
Are you serious?
Dude, I swear
you could shoot stuff
with your eyes closed.
I think you could accidentally
drop an arrow
and hit someone in the face.
Add a little variety
to our mix here.
you walked away
for five minutes to pee.
I got seven big, old fatties.
- heck yeah.
- How'd y'all do?
- We got five
of these suckers...
- Couple fatties too.
- ...And got a little specialty variety.
- - what?
- it's 100% worth the journey.
- - definitely.
This is one
of my favorite days
right here.
- Yeah.
- Spending it with you guys.
hey, guys,
guys, guys.
there's
another rat.
Where is it?
right in that hole.
- Oh, just popped it's head up there.
- - yeah, yeah.
You've got to be kidding me.
Oh, it...
I don't even believe it
and I just saw it
with my own eyes.
I don't believe it.
- it, uh...
- Who are you?
I missed one,
I missed the first one.
You missed it on purpose
so nobody would know
your superpower.
and use the tree
as support.
And up, okay.
grab him
by the scruff of the neck.
Pull him out
while you're trying
to wiggle the arrow out.
Here he is.
- lost the tip.
- No worries.
I'll donate one to the amazon.
okay.
- that one's pretty.
- - yeah, it's real pretty.
I missed.
you missed on purpose, man.
Don't lie to me.
I feel like
you do it on purpose, man.
yeah,
you do that. You...
I feel sorry
he came out of his hole there
for a little there, I think.
all right.
- family.
- Hey, guys.
- whoa, look at those fish.
- Whoa, look at huck finn.
- we're home.
- you did it.
we did it.
Oh, my gosh,
I'm so proud of you.
- Good job, guys.
- - the miles we put in were worth it.
We got 11 total fish.
steven pulls out
a string of 11 fish.
That's more of a fish meal
than we've had
out here at all.
Since we merged
it's a massive score
of protein.
- we got a catfish on there.
- Wow.
- This is the prequel.
- best of dinner.
- What...
- Oh, my god.
and wait,
there's more.
- hey.
- Matt.
Who wants some red meat
with their fish diet?
- yes.
- - that was worth the trip, boys.
We are so close
to extraction at this point.
This is exactly what we need.
we're gonna eat
so good tonight.
We're chow rich, baby.
- Yeah, jungle rich.
- meat rich.
it was
totally worth it.
We started our meal.
We had a great fish boil.
Uh, oily,
fatty, deliciousness.
Just straight to the gut,
straight to the bloodline.
But wait, there's more.
There is another pot
With a little red meat
cooking in it.
That's right,
we got a double what?
Like sugar squirrel stew
going on.
- Yeah, we do.
- And...
An old sweet delicacy
of the brush-tailed tree rat.
- That's right.
- Yeah.
I never thought
I'd have surf and turf
in the jungle,
But this is a first time
for everything, so...
It's really good.
I'm out in the dark now.
Trying to reset
this caiman line
with a little rat guts.
Look at that.
It is stinky, smelly,
and it does not smell
like fish.
I think it will be something
that will entice a...
...Caiman.
A bit nicely.
I do hope so.
What's down...
What the hell is that?
Find this guy in the mud.
Huge ass caiman tooth.
Huge tooth.
Huge tooth.
This is probably
at least from like
A 6, 7 meter caiman at least.
They get
to be beasts out here.
If he asked me
if I was capable
of doing the 60 days,
Two months,
naked in the amazon
The epitome
of all survival challenges,
I would have said
you were nuts.
Truly separates you
from the pack
And I like,
I can't believe
I'm capable of that.
Like...
...The things
that this challenge
Makes you realize
about yourself.
You never forget.
The rest of your life
you take that with you,
You carry it with you,
you can find
and harness that strength.
It is absolutely amazing.
you guys hear that?
The third day of splash
where we were at
the caiman line earlier today.
People are already passed out
And then all of a sudden
we hear the loudest splash
I've ever heard on this river.
It sounds like
it was a huge caiman.
huge caiman.
yeah, I thought it was.
it was big
whatever it was.
- that's the one we're gonna eat tomorrow.
- - yeah.
we heard
some big splashing last night.
So I'm gonna go check
the caiman line.
Let's get closer.
I'm afraid it's gone.
Thought we might have had
something right there.
hey, waz,
what's the word?
unfortunately,
no caiman.
The line
got triggered overnight
But I don't know
if that was from a caiman
or something else.
There was no bait
on it at all.
So it could have
been eaten off by piranhas
- Or eels, or whatever,
I don't know.
- Yeah.
we got to get protein
for extraction.
we have
only six days to go.
We see the finish line
but we're in the middle
of the amazon jungle.
And the only way in here
is in a boat
And the only way out of here
is in a boat.
So, um,
we got to start a plan.
still six days
and 7 miles
From their extraction point
on the amazon river.
The survivalists face
a grueling journey north
Through waterways
choked with hyacinth,
and filled with caiman,
Anaconda, and piranha.
I'll head up
construction of the raft.
I came here just to help
in any way I could.
I definitely would like
to head up the project
for sure.
I've seen the boats
he'd make on these challenges.
when I was here
eight years ago
Laura and I
we built an amazing raft.
It was epic, absolutely epic
- Getting out of this place.
- Let's do it.
Time to go.
There we go.
I look at the raft, for me,
Just like my swan song.
Probably not gonna
come back again.
So I've got some thoughts
For us to have
a swan song vessel.
Cool.
- Absolutely.
- - you got my support, buddy.
he's just
like our dad.
He's the og out here,
you know?
He's one of the hardest,
strongest man that I know
And I'm there to support him
100% of the way.
He's my brother,
he's my friend,
he's my fellow legend.
So boats...
You know,
I like building things
'cause my father
was a carpenter
And boats and watercraft
have been, kind of,
a specialty for me.
If this is my last challenge
and my last row out
We're going out in style.
I want us to look
like a bunch of vikings,
you know?
And I'm thinking
a solid raft that's long
That could fit
all six of us on it.
Yeah.
we want to do
one big long boat
And, you know,
we're gonna keep it skinny.
So we can get through
all this hydrilla out here,
These narrow passageways.
so if I could have
just guys
And amber we need you
to do what you do best
And that is to get us food
'cause we need food.
Any time you guys need help
I'll be there to help
when I'm not fishing.
this is
our amazon uber out of here.
I think we'll set up
the boat side first, guys.
- yeah, get the logs first.
- Put the logs down,
And then bring the big logs in
and start, kinda...
...Lego it together
to see what we got.
- perfect.
- sounds good.
I am literally
the last female standing
out here.
This is my redemption.
My, gosh, the fish are just
not hitting right now.
It was so devastating
leaving louisiana last year
It broke my heart.
I'm sorry,
I have to medically tap you
You need to really
be evaluated at a facility.
I'm so sorry.
I want to finish
this challenge so bad,
But I am dwindling away.
So no fish on the line.
They all have bait.
We have to work
for every meal we get.
I'm gonna re-bait it
every single day
and reset it, check it,
And pray we get a fish.
one.
The big thing about the raft
is it just a few phases.
First, gather the materials
and make sure
they're gonna work.
There, I'll help.
Well, that's a lot.
we chopped down
some trees
For some lashing
about a week and a half ago
And it's a real soft wood,
it's super buoyant.
It's gonna be great
for raft building.
put it down
right over here.
- Whoa, whoa, got it?
- got it.
ej's design
calls for a base of logs
Held together by the tensio
of tightly secured
bamboo poles,
And an angular cut
on the front
To help maneuver
through the thick hyacinth.
all right, boys.
The front here
we'll try and start getting it
to the shape we want
Like a bow.
Some people
hack up the back end there
and make it look rounded.
So it's more hydrodynamic.
Done.
the raft's coming alon
really well
we've got the main structur
Cinched together pretty good.
Making it these shapes, man
Has definitely helped
move the boat along
definitely in the front.
- Yeah, it'll push those plants under there.
- - push those plants...
Yep.
all right, we'll use
these bamboos here
As tension bars.
we've got
the tension bars in place.
What we have so far
would float all of us.
So that's always a good start.
I got these two bamboos here
for the front tensions.
We just need to get
the fishing line going
And start getting
this all strapped in.
just doing
figure eights around.
Go in and out, in and out,
in and out.
- criss cross.
- - criss cross, applesauce and then in between the logs
You can frap it
to tighten them
in there better.
Pinch it up,
I'll just pull it tight
with this.
You can tie that off.
Yeah, there we go.
I'd like to be noted
for the record
That there is no possible way
that the front of this raft
is ever gonna fall apart.
- all right.
That looks great.
-solid as a rock.
building out here
Is one of the probably
most calorie demanding thing
you can do.
It's like going to a straight
hour crossfit workout.
Okay, I'm headed out
for a little bit.
good luck, good luck.
Try to outsmart
A bird that lives here
That's used
to every single inch
of this terrain.
It's called a horned screame
I'm hoping to get them
and one more.
So the tribe
could just have a feast.
That bird is tricky.
Getting opportunities on it
strictly getting shots
very tricky.
Getting clear shots
damn tricky.
I just hit a big old bird
way up in the tree.
Even though
it's got blood on it...
That bird was
a very tough chance.
But I don't want
to injure something
I don't eat.
The bird was able
to regain itself somehow
And flew off into this way.
So we have to find it.
Dang it.
dang it.
That bird was
a very tough chance.
And I took a shot
further than I've ever
taken a shot
And hit that bird.
But I don't want
to injure something
I don't eat.
So we have to find it.
- See ya.
- What's up, buddy?
- Welcome home.
- Suck ass. How you doing?
I had a little rendezvous
With a bird.
Oh,.
horned screamer was
at the top of the tree
nailed it
Ended up going across
the river, just over the trees
and disappeared.
You know exactly where it is?
it, uh...
'cause if you know where it is
we can go for a walk.
he's hit hard enough
That I don't really feel like
he's gonna be able
to fly up any higher.
he could have
hit a branch and pass out.
- Yeah and fallen all the way to the ground.
- - yep.
- It's worth trying.
- Definitely worth it.
You should get over there
and go find us our dinner.
The horned screamer is
a big bird.
It's probably got about
maybe 7 or 8 pounds
of meat on it.
- If I were you guys I would
just swim across the river.
- Swim across here.
You could either
swim across here
and I'll walk the shore
And we'll parallel each other.
- Let's do that.
- That's probably
the best bet.
bring home the turkey.
Matt and I
we are going
to his old spot
To sit down together
and help guide
the group there.
we'll be there,
just a few minutes up here.
we need to get
some people on
the other side of the river...
...And start a search party
looking for our dinner.
we got
our naked hounds.
It'd be no problem
Pinpointing exactly
where it went from here.
It's just to the left
of that tree.
When he dropped down
He went right
in that second
little v right there.
- right.
- - barely cleared those trees
Then disappeared out of sight.
There's a good chance
That bird went down.
we're coming up
right now, matt.
- it's right there.
- oh, I see you guys.
Where I shot it
was right here.
It came down
It dripped some blood
kind of right across
where you guys are
And took
an exact straight line
This way.
With just like,
from me to you
just keep that up.
- Complete 180 degree turn.
- - right here where this tree is down.
- Yeah.
- That way.
if you were
to guesstimate
how far in it went down...
My guess
I lost sight of it about
30 or 40 yards in there.
And that's where
it disappeared.
Should hopefully, it's here.
It's just such a thick place
if it went down anywhere...
- Anywhere, that's sometimes
could be hard to find.
- Yeah.
that thing could be
caught up over here
it could be on the ground.
Well we need
to look overhead as well
'cause it could have
just crashed into this stuff
and stayed up there, you know.
We all
spread out horizontally.
And try to stay in line too
as much as possible.
If people get
way too far ahead
Then it kind of it up.
In my job
I do plenty of surveys
all the time.
Looking for invasive species
Or different objects,
things like that,
as a biologist.
So I try to line everybody u
in certain intervals
Looking for this guy.
And we're just gonna
scatter ourselves
as well as we can
And see if we can save it.
You know so this harvest.
I just want to hear a scream.
You know, like a good scream
of success back there.
He could just
be 30 feet up a tree
And just looks like a bird
that can fly
But it doesn't want to fly.
How good would it be
if one of us just gets
Like a blood drip
on their shoulder?
- right?
- that would be legit.
Like predator stuff.
I keep seeing things
that I think are it.
be caught up 200
feet in canopy.
Kind of a crap shoot.
well, food will
go to waste, so...
Unfortunately,
the vitals on that thing
is like the size of,
Like a, like a tennis ball,
And, uh, it must have gone
through some other parts,
But didn't hit
the vitals 'cause he's
still, he's still up.
Which is a bummer 'cause he
he's probably going down,
It's just whether or not
he'll eventually go
down in front of us
He's not going down,
but he's hit,
And that is unfortunate
Because anytime an animal ge
away it's a horrible moment
think there's
kind of, like, a little trai
Going down to the river
straight ahead.
yeah.
Literally made a search
party looking for this thing
For a couple hours,
And, um, you know,
we didn't find nothing,
The jungle's so thick,
he could've been
in the canopy,
He could've been
on the ground.
I've not seen
one spot of blood.
Really looking forward
for a win like this, but,
The sun is fading quickly..
...Possibility is slim to none
able to find it right now.
we're not
seeing anything.
damn it!
They weren't able
to find it, and it's gonna
be getting dark soon.
We'll meet you guys
over back at camp.
yeah, roger that,
sounds good.
as the sun goes dow
You truly have to stop
what you're doing
And head back to camp...
Dang it.
...Because you
can't be too safe out here.
I never like when
something gets away.
Yeah.
Yeah, it always hurts
the soul a little bit.
Yeah.
And, uh, and when you're
out here and it gets away,
Hurts your stomach.
Yeah, hurts the stomach
for sure.
I don't know
for sure if we will
be able to find him,
But I'll tell you what,
I haven't quit yet.
if one of these
horned screamers
Fell in the pot,
it would be amazing.
Like, that would have been
a good meal for all of us...
Yeah.
...But, uh, we're all
pretty tired today, too.
yeah.
yeah, I normally
feel a little bit hungry
After I've let
something get away.
It's always rough,
you know, when you're
so close to a good meal,
And then you have to walk
away empty-handed.
We're all working hard
out here building rafts,
So, um, it's kind
of disappointing.
ready to go?
Yeah.
Waz and I, we're going back
out to hunt this bird...
...And we're headed back in,
and maybe even deeper
than we were before.
He gave us the slip
just purely because
He was, uh, he was a little
alarmed before we got there,
So, he had a lot of time
to find a hiding spot.
That's all right, we learn
little bits everyday.
mmm-hmm.
He does not.
no, you know
why? Little bird brain.
pretty soon we'll
have him, uh, we'll have
him in checkmate.
yeah, I think so.
look at that!
Oh, god!
What the...
got it?
Yeah, hold on.
All right.
Well, the boys just took of
Hoping to pick off a bird
for us to eat today,
But we need to keep
working on the raft.
There you are.
That'll work great.
yeah?
we can get a lot
of use out of this sucker.
We got the main
foundation done,
And now I have an idea
to make some rows for seats
So that once
we're on the water,
It'll be easier for us
to paddle and maneuver
the raft.
All right, we're in business.
Flatten her a bit.
You know, I'm out here
with dan who I really
like working with,
I mean, he's a kid
after my own heart.
Started out as a fan,
Did his 21-day challenge,
and finished it solo.
We're in business.
It looks lashed well.
He stays busy,
keeps his hands moving,
He's always buzzing around,
That's the way I do it,
And so, I see a lot
of potential in this kid.
All right, strap those
suckers down.
Once that gets done there,
that chair there,
Then we'll get that
last chair done.
You doing okay?
feeling a little weak,
but, um, taking breaks.
don't kill yourself.
I've been feeling
more and more lightheaded.
Like, I'm weaker than
any other challenge
I've done so far,
But it's difficult not
to be hard on yourself
When you're slowing down,
And some other people
are still moving around
and doing more than you.
I'm proud of your journey.
Thanks, man.
I'm glad to hear it.
Good, I'm glad,
It's a pleasure to watch
it happen, kid, in action.
I really appreciate that.
Things and points
of skills out there.
Doing really great.
I'm trying.
- Makes my heart...
- Learn as you go.
...Makes my heart
joyous, smile.
I'm glad you're here.
Thanks.
Ej is one of the most
knowledgeable people
If not the most
knowledgeable person that's
ever done a challenge,
And to now be working
hand-in-hand with him,
Could not be prouder of wha
I've been able to accomplish
This is his moment
to come full circle,
And this is my period
of growth as well.
And it's, it's interesting
because my sexuality
Had absolutely nothing
to do with why I started
doing these challenges,
And why I wanted
to do it as a person,
But after my 14-day
sand challenge,
I had so many kids
reach out to me...
...Telling me that they're,
they're living in small towns,
And they just don't see,
you know, gay people
in these roles,
Succeeding in these
outdoor survival challenges
And how much it
meant to them to, like,
Help them grow
and succeed as a person.
And, um...
...Was kinda shocked, like...
...It adds a whole new
element to these challenges
Because I didn't come out
here to be an inspiration
to anyone...
...But I'm proud to be
out here as a gay man
doing this,
And if I can be someone
that people look up to,
It's an honor, really,
And it's a big responsibilit
Okay.
Back to work.
hey, matt...
...It's right there,
The hurt one.
all right,
holy.
Look at him right there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
what we're
doing here is
There's a turkey already
out in the water,
So, I'm gonna crawl
through here,
See if I can get to where
I can see everything.
plan is for me
to swim across the river,
And then stalk
up the other side
To see if I can sneak
up on it, and pin it
between me and the water.
It's about 100,
150-yard stalk,
But the ground's really dry
uh, which means the leaves
are really crunchy,
So, pretty sure he's
gonna hear me coming,
and take off.
Now, he can't fly,
but he can walk still, so,
He's got a lot of hiding
spots over there,
A lot of places that he's
gonna be able to get to
That I'm not gonna
be able to find him.
the wounded bird
has spotted him,
And continues to sneak off,
And is now sneaking
up into the brush.
Well, I have no choice
but to mess up what
I never normally do
ever on a hunt
Is to yell from my blank.
Ahead of you about 30 yards.
If he doesn't get to him fas
he's gonna disappear.
I saw some black move
And I don't know what else
would be on the ground.
Ooh, look at that!
Ooh, jeez.
Got me a couple times,
got some thorns in me, but...
...But we got food tonight!
whoo!
Brother! Oh, my gosh!
yeah!
Way to go, buddy!
you did it!
We are so excited!
whoa!
We're gonna have
a Sunday turkey, yeah!
hell, yeah, buddy,
oh, that's fantastic!
It is a beautiful day!
Every time you take
an opportunity,
And you push forward
and you push yourself
to the next limit,
This is what's possible,
and right there, the proof is
gonna be in the pot tonight.
This is a, uh, this is
an amazing moment here,
We have put in some serious
hours looking for this thing
And waz has found that sucke
It's bird time!
Whoo!
what have
we got going here?
That's right, a big old
pot of a horned screamer.
I have yet to try
a bird out here.
It's just meaty, fatty,
greasy deliciousness.
Thanks to this guy!
Yeah!
Go ahead, waz.
before anyone
eats any of this,
I do wanna pay a little
bit of respect to this guy
Because he put
up a massive fight.
You know, he fought
all the way to the death,
- So, that sort of warrior bird...
- - yeah.
...Is very symbolic
of I think what,
- What the six of us have done out here...
- - yeah.
...Just fighting
all the way to the end.
nature respects
nature karma, man.
mmm-hmm.
It's really good
to have this bird,
And it's just nice when you'
able to help people out,
And lift 'em up a little bit
Well, that's tightened for me,
this decision to, to stay here
From the forty to the sixty
You know, it sort of all,
it all paid off.
This just pulls apart.
chewy, fatty...
...Greasy...
...Oily.
Oh, my good lord.
this is amazing!
- little horned screamer stew.
- Whoa!
- Skin and fat.
- That's really good!
Just skin and fat.
My first bird in the wild.
You gotta dip
it in this like this...
Like, yeah, you gotta
get the little dip dipper.
the largeous.
A little jungle largeous.
oh, my gosh,
it's amazing!
This is huge!
I mean, this will give us
strength and energy,
Gonna keep us pushing
harder to day 60.
We are feeling alive,
friends...
yeah!
...Feeling alive
as we could.
yeah!
everybody! Yeah!
love you guys.
love you!
live to fight
another day.
Stay savage,
be a legend, do it!
that meal
really was amazing,
But that doesn't mean
that we can, we can relax,
We can't take it easy
from here because we've
got too much work to do.
Do have a raft to build
over the next few days,
And, uh, we're definitely
gonna keep trying
to search for calories.
okay, see ya.
- alrighty.
- see ya in a bit.
the more
calories we put in us,
Just, the stronger our
finish is gonna be,
And that's what it's about,
just finishing strong.
'kay. Now I'm prepared.
you want some water?
thank you.
You're welcome.
the weather's
been really bad.
It's pretty hot today.
Yeah, thank you.
Hold on...
Oh, these flies!
I know. Kill 'em!
I'll get some more.
So, on extraction,
we have to hydrate.
It's key.
It's critical to our engine
continuing to paddle,
And if we run out of water,
It's all over for ya.
I need to build this
up maybe another level.
Do you think this...
Even if we gotta just take
a pot of water with us,
We got water to drink.
So, we can fit 'em just
right up underneath
there nice and easy.
I mean, literally,
it could be like this
- Cool little water box, and it just sits right in there...
- - yeah.
...Can't go anywhere
no matter what.
This works out great.
yeah, I think so.
cool!
we're getting close
to day 60 out here,
And this is almost
three times longer
Than any challenge
I've done before.
As much as I'm slowing down
as much as I'm getting tired
We need to sustain ourselves
and get through extraction.
We need food in our
bellies everyday
Before we get
out of this place.
So, if I can, uh, provide
a little fruit or carbs for
Before we leave,
that would be wonderful.
Whoa.
Oh, my god.
No way!
Is that from ej and laura?
That is not fresh.
Must be from ej
and laura's challenge.
Wow, that's special.
Ej and lz.
Laura zerra.
That's his partner
from eight years ago
Right when ej started
doing naked and afraid.
I watched ej
and laura's challenge
before coming out here
'cause I knew it was
in the same area.
I didn't realize how close.
They succeeded
on that challenge
When three other people tapp
out in this environment.
Man, that really
brings it full circle.
And not only that,
to be out here sharing
this moment with ej
On what might possibly
be his last big challenge
is really...
...That's really special.
I can't wait to tell
him about this.
I look forward
to seeing what you, uh,
What you're gonna
show me here.
You don't have, like...
You gonna get me
to a point and, uh,
Put a blindfold on me, are ya?
It's just up here
to the right, ej.
- really?
- yeah.
Excited for you to see this.
oh, my god!
Man, how'd you find this?
right?
oh, my god.
Thank you, amazon.
I'm in the exact spot where
I stood eight years ago...
...To the day where
laura zerra and I
Put our names in the tree
When we were
here in the amazon
So long ago.
Wow!
It's like my entire
naked and afraid
challenge career
Flashes before my head,
All the ups and the downs,
The struggles, the victories,
And everyone said
it couldn't be done,
We came in like
calvary and got it right.
I had no idea it was
this close in this area.
I can visually see his chills
through his whole body.
This is the sign that
ej's been waiting for.
wow.
Well, only one
thing to do, dan,
Time for you and me to put our
dang initials in this thing.
yeah?
- yeah.
- I love that.
it's my honor putting
my name here with you.
Seeing this, and you're
about to join the ranks
Of 60 days with us.
wow.
Out of all the people that
get to do these challenges,
For me to be the one
Standing next to ej,
the godfather
of naked and afraid.
I think we both realize
the significance
of this moment
And it's so powerful.
Maybe eight years from now,
I'll be back here.
that would be something.
Having it be dan of all peop
to find this out here,
That does my heart good.
The next generation
and the old guard,
side by side.
It's just special.
Very special.
Where's your knife, man?
cheers.
I'm glad it was you
that found it.
Buddy.
let's get you
to day 60, buddy.
it's day 59.
I've lost a ton of body fat
I'm probably the skinniest
I've ever been.
Um, strength-wise,
I'm definitely weaker.
- Crazy.
- right?
Crazy adventure.
Knowing that tomorrow
is extraction day, you know
we're right there.
- We're not done yet.
- Mmm-hmm.
perfect.
So it's just
maintaining that focus,
maintaining that hard work,
That eye on the prize
is what gets us to 60.
- alright, team.
- boo-yah.
good job.
ej, this is
the coolest raft
I have ever seen on xl.
- And I am quite impressed.
- yeah, thank you.
You know, ej's done
a lot of these challenges
as well as myself,
And it's not a surprise that
his raft is looking sturdy,
It's looking roomy enough
for all of us.
It's looking good.
well, we're not out
of the woods yet.
Because you know, last time
laura and I took off here
From the amazon
eight years ago,
We basically were on the river
for three days.
And that sun will destroy you.
tired and sunburned.
I'm thirsty and hungry.
it was tough.
You know...
If we start getting destroyed
by the sun and heat exhaustion
starts kicking in,
- That's a seriously
safety tap out.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- - so I want to put a canopy over this thing
And eliminate that problem.
- That'd be sick.
- heck yeah.
Boom!
Alright, dan, I can hold this.
- You got supporters?
- yep, strap it, wrap it.
- That should work, right?
- Yeah.
You could pull... You can...
Yeah. You can pull that one
and pull those ones back.
these are some of
the final stages of this raf
And we're putting
all the poles in place.
What those are gonna be
is part of the canopy syste
That I wanted to develop
with this boat.
- Got 'er, matt?
- Mmm-hmm.
Yeah, that's gonna
work great, matt.
It's getting a little heavy,
but that's okay.
We don't need anybody
getting beat up
- On the way out of here.
- Yep.
Should float well. It should.
Split one more,
use these as x-bars
across the top.
- What do you think?
- Yeah.
- gotta be strong.
- that dog don't bite.
we can just
start the roof.
here we go.
Alright.
And I'm gonna put just enough
palms up top to shade us.
- We're gonna have to tie these down, huh?
- - yep.
It's extremely important tha
we do have a canopy overhead
We are gonna be
sweating a lot.
Last thing we need
is one of us
to go down with heat stroke
- looking pretty good.
- oh, I'm so happy.
yes!
This is my last challenge
and that's what's driving me
I came here to help.
And that means
getting these folks
to the end.
- came out pretty good.
- it looks amazing.
It's amazon extreme.
It's got ej snyder
written all over it.
- Unbelievable.
- - it's definitely a raft to be proud of.
alright, family.
- I'm headed out for a little bit.
- - good luck, good luck.
- love you, matt.
- good luck, matt.
- thanks, matt.
- - you're gonna get it, man.
alright, guys.
See you in a bit.
It is so close to extractio
that you can feel it.
The last day to hunt
before this challenge is ove
We have to, as a family,
have a big old feast
for extraction day.
But for me,
it's also all about
internal pride right now.
You know, the amazon
is the only place
I haven't had success.
And that's why I push myself
for hours on end.
Just for that big score
of protein,
So that this time
I can feel complete.
And when you truly embrace
that savage side,
And you hunt
for those epic moments,
Anything's possible.
And that's a promise.
what I need
to do now is the tricky
part of the day
'cause I got to follow
the shadows.
If I get in the sunlight,
I'm just gonna glow.
So I'm gonna
follow the shadows.
Oh
Dammit.
time to check in
with the poop
tomato garden.
It has been a long run
for these guys.
60 days is a long time.
Don't I know it.
Getting to the end of day 5
And I have been working
on this garden
Since basically day one.
After I shat out those seed
and they all sprouted
And I transplanted them
over here,
I've been peeing on them
everyday, fertilizing them.
I don't think anyone's ever
cultivated a garden like thi
on a challenge before.
But um, unfortunately
they didn't produce fruit.
They... I just think
the soil conditions
just aren't perfect out her
Enough for them
to produce fruit
quickly enough.
But uh, leafy greens
is something
That none of us have had
any of on this challenge
And there's a lot of nutrients
that come along with that
That we are very depleted in,
that we could really use.
So, there's enough plants
here, enough leaves
to, I think, stew down
And really give us
a good boost for extraction
even bigger than we think.
Despite the fact that
there's no fruit.
If anything at all,
it was a moral boost,
Something to make me
smile every day.
I'm going to go back,
get out of the sun
and stew them up.
I think a fish is nibbling
on the line.
It's stuck under the hyacinth.
Got to get in the water.
I'm still standing.
I'm still here.
And that's huge for me.
I'm doing this
for my children.
I'm doing this mainly
for my daughter, leila.
She is gonna watch this
and she's gonna be like,
"wow, mom, you're a badass."
And I want to prove to her
that as women, we're capabl
of doing anything.
yeah! Attagirl!
Hell yeah, babe. Good job.
oh my god.
you know, amber,
super proud of her.
I know she was...
She was kind of
getting flustered
'cause she wasn't putting
anything on the table
And I know that's really
important to her.
Kind of a big one.
but she's
an amazing fisherwoman
And she's worked really har
to be out here,
which is pretty awesome.
thank you lord
for this food.
- So good.
- You did it.
Willed it to happen
and there it is.
Good job, amber.
Back on your game.
This is the most eggs
I've ever seen on a fish.
we can uh, put it in
- With the tomato boil I'm about to do.
- - okay.
I got my last fish
right here, baby.
This is it. The last fish
I'll ever catch
in the amazon.
We're gonna have some food
in our bellies tonight.
And we're going to have
an amazing fish broth
With some of dan's
tomato leaves.
I'm really excited.
We're gonna throw in
this little bad baby,
this proud moment of mine.
Last fish on the amazon.
- We're gonna have a fish boil.
- Yeah!
I'm stalking
in the brush once again.
Got him, baby.
Crazy.
got him, baby.
I was just walking through.
Didn't have time
to think about it.
I'll tell you what.
Been hunting a lot of days,
a lot of hours.
Today, I thought,
"you know what?
Magic's in the air.
I feel something about it."
My partners needed a boost
and I just delivered them
An extra big one.
Yeah, baby. The savage
strikes again.
I don't know if you can see
how dark it is,
But that last
little bit of light,
Which is
a dangerous situation.
There's a lot of fer-de-lance.
There's a lot of,
You know, dangers I need
to watch out for,
But you have to hunt hard
in order to be successful.
- matt's out hunting?
- of course he is.
holy crap!
no!
- Oh
- coming!
- oh, oh, oh!
- what?
- don't touch it.
- woah!
Hell yeah! All hail the king.
Big old oscar.
Kiss the ring.
bingo.
I swear, you could shoot stuff
with your eyes closed.
the xls,
or xl success metric,
Calculates the groups'
combined skills
and survival status
To determine
a likely percentage
Of completing the 60 day
challenge together.
more people have left
here than have stayed.
That tells you how tough
this place is.
two months
into the challenge,
The amazon has taken
a toll on the six
remaining survivalists.
- you lost a tooth?
- Mmm-hmm.
- oh my god, brother.
- dude.
making every
food win...
Ended up going across
the river just over the trees
and disappeared.
We have to find it.
...A battle
of persistence.
oh my god!
- yeah!
- you did it!
and the chance
to become legends
a matter of will.
this is my redemptio
I want to finish
this challenge so bad.
It's an honor, really.
It's a big responsibility.
now just one day
from a grueling river
extraction journey...
this last leg
is always the most difficult
This is our last stand
out here in the amazon.
...They need ever
last bit of protein
they can find.
when you truly embrac
that savage side,
And you hunt
for those epic moments,
Anything's possible.
Got him, baby.
and matt's arrow
has hit its mark once again
as a result,
their odds of reaching
extraction together as a group
Rises from 43% to 62%.
But it's never too late...
holy crap!
...For the amazo
to strike back.
- don't touch it.
- woah!
holy crap!
no! Coming!
- Oh, god.
- What?
- don't touch it.
- woah!
Matt just got a fer-de-lance
- is that the head?
I can't tell.
-let me see.
- There it is. Woah.
-oh, here's the head.
I found the head.
- Okay. We are safe.
We are safe.
-there it is. Nice.
Matt just got a fer-de-lance
coming home.
Hey, could you guys hold
my fer-de-lance for me?
- yeah.
- I also caught a horned freaking screamer!
no! We called it!
oh my god!
matt got it, baby!
I was just talking
about walking how
in the dark is a sketchy thing
And this son of a bitch
who tried to
interfere with dinner.
- damn.
- - he killed a fer-de-lance
On the way home with a bird.
Matt, you are the man.
These are going
to be lit.
Ow!
whoo!
start with the little
steamed fer-de-lance.
Everybody, go ahead
and grab yourself a little...
A little chunkeroo.
I got a big old bird.
Look at this guy.
- oh, look at that.
- oh, the bone.
If that's not some
gordon ramsay business,
I don't know what is.
Ridiculous.
we got a horned
screamer in the pot.
and now we got
a fish broth with all
the tomato leaves.
tastes like a tomato bisque.
I'm sure
it's 'cause I'm starving.
oh, that's one
of my favorites.
- oh my gosh.
- yeah, man. I love it.
wow.
Kinda tastes nice.
I mean,
why wouldn't it?
It hits there
and it's like, boom.
oh my god.
that's ten pounds of delicacy
right there.
oh my lord.
Lord have mercy.
This is literally
the last night
We're gonna be in our shelter
in our treehouse
And it's crazy to think
we've experienced so much
in so little time.
And it was an honor
to be a part of it
And to say I joined
the legends team.
I feel like a privilege.
I started on a fan challenge,
14 day challenge.
Did a 21.
And now, I went straight
to a 60 day legends challenge.
It's an incredible feeling.
Forever grateful to everything
these challenges provide.
A little bit of bird heart.
to be able to go ou
with a big, hearty meal
right before extraction,
That... That right there
is legendary.
How's that broth, ej?
on his possibly
very last adventure,
Eating his very last
meal potentially
on naked and afraid.
- How does it feel?
- It feels really,
really good.
It's there. You can't wait...
You can't leave
it off forever.
We have
accomplished just that.
-I love my family.
I love you guys.
-We love you.
hey, day 60 tomorrow.
That's right. Now we roll.
day 60.
I made it, baby.
It's been a privilege
to be with some of
The greatest survivalists
out here.
And the one person
I want to give a huge
shoutout to
Is my brother, steven.
Best survival woman
I've ever met in my life.
And I'm very... I'm very
proud of you.
We're going home, baby.
- Going home.
- We are going home!
- Yeah!
- Yes.
we are getting
out of here.
I made myself the badass
extraction outfit.
I got my horned screamer
wardrobe on.
My face paint,
my anteater claws,
My caiman tooth.
day 60, man.
I cannot believe I'm here.
let's pack up and get
the hell out of here.
bittersweet leaving
we're not done yet.
But the journey ahead
is arduous
And it's full of dangers.
We got to stay vigilant.
We got to stay smart.
And that's what we've
been doing for a long time.
So I know we're really
ready to get out of here.
We'll only take what we need,
Knives, a little bit of string
to repair this thing,
You guys got some water
to consolidate?
yeah.
put this one
on there now...
...So we'll hopefully be
fully loaded with water.
I'm getting déjà vu all over
about the amazon.
Because I said
that amazon extraction
last time was tough,
But this journey's gonna be
a long distance,
And it's hot,
heat's already up.
I don't think any of us
have been on any trek
like this before.
we have to go out
to the amazon up here.
- yeah, north.
- It's basically straight north.
We're down
in these tributaries
way down here.
So we got miles to go.
to reach
their final extraction poin
over seven miles away,
The survivalists
must head north
up the tributary,
Battling thick hyacinth
and scorching temperatures
Before entering
the open waters
Of the amazon river.
- that's a lot of miles we're gonna cover today.
- Yeah.
So everybody keep track
of your hydration,
And while we're rowing,
Every 30 minutes
if we have to...
- yeah.
- ...Take some water breaks.
Oh, yeah.
just gotta
be vigilant and do
what we do best.
That's what we've been
doing the whole time.
- We gotta look out
for each other.
- Yep.
Survival does not end yet.
give me
one, two, three, legends!
legends!
hell yeah.
so the raft
looks amazing.
Ej's done a great job
heading that project up,
But we gotta be cautious
getting this raft in the water
Because we're pushing it
down this hill on skids,
And it is so heavy,
if it gets away from us,
You know, there's a chance
someone's gonna get
caught under there
Or twist their ankle
or get cut up
or something like that.
We don't want an injury
taking someone out
on the last day.
all right, guys.
- all right, ready?
One, two, three.
-two, three.
damn.
- okay, two, three.
- two, three.
oh. Oh, wait.
Stop, stop.
Okay, yep. Got it. Oh, nice.
Just gotta lift on my side
A little bit to get
over the hump, and we're good.
Ready?
- One, two, three.
- One, two, three.
- Oh.
- - watch out, watch out, watch out!
oh, let's go!
let's give her a little
push from the back.
getting the raft
in the water,
slow and steady.
perfect.
- yeah!
- yeah!
- right there.
- what a beaut!
- Thank you, matt!
- nice job, everybody.
Good job.
ej had a vision, and he killed it.
It looks amazing.
Um, but it's heavy.
All right.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
wow.
- that's flooding now?
- yep.
this thing
probably weighs, like,
1,000 pounds,
And ej, matt, and waz
are probably 200 pounds each
There's a lot of weight
on top of it.
whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa.
We got a problem.
It's starting to sink.
It's too heavy in the back.
Maybe rotate amber
and steven back here.
mmm,
we're underwater too.
the bottom is sitting
on the ground right now.
, these logs
are way underwater.
we would be
sinking further if this bottom
wasn't touching.
We're sunk.
We got a problem.
It's starting to sink.
whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa.
so we're sunk.
I don't know if it's gonna
float in general.
the raft is sittin
a little low.
Without buoyancy, we're stuc
And to walk through the jung
To the amazon river
would take us weeks.
we're gonna have to
add logs underneath it.
We're talking probably
300 pounds,
400 pounds overweight here
at least, minimum.
Yeah, I think matt's right.
all right, I thought
it was a great idea.
In most cases, you want
to test your water craft ou
Before you even
get to this point,
But I felt pretty confident
on my estimates
Of how much wood
we had down there.
My estimate
was a little bit off,
And I can admit
when I'm wrong.
That's disappointing,
but it's what it is.
But I also knew
I had a backup plan,
And so when there's a problem,
Gotta go to the backup plan
- okay, we're doing all three of these?
- - yeah.
I adapt and I overcome.
one, two, three.
we have
some more logs
we cut down a while ago.
We're gonna cram them
underneath, and we're gonna
double our buoyancy.
We'll float twice as high,
And floating twice as high
will float us down the river
try this one first?
go ahead.
- there it is. Nice.
- yep.
let's get a second one
under right now.
okay.
- you okay?
- yep.
we've got
three extra logs that we nee
o get underneath this raft.
They're gonna run
longways on the raft.
That's gonna add
an equal amount
Of lift on both sides,
which is what we need,
And then we're gonna
get them strapped in.
one, two.
It's under.
- Nice.
- There we go.
Nice.
I'm hoping those
three extra logs
Will add 450 pounds
of buoyancy.
If not, we'll have to start
stripping this raft down
And lightening it up.
And we gotta get on the water,
we gotta get going.
sitting high.
yeah, it's some
good buoyancy there.
I don't know
if it's 450 pounds,
But we'll find out
pretty quick.
Okay.
Oh, yeah,
that's most of the weight.
And we're well
out of the water.
- oh.
- - it's floating much better.
we're floating,
we got a raft.
Nice job, team.
- Nice job.
- looks good.
- all right, let's try pushing off.
- - back it up.
we're moving guys,
looking good.
- yeah.
- All right,
So long camp!
all right.
Day 60, baby!
- We're on the water!
- yeah, team!
yeah!
lead our way
through this hyacinth.
yeah.
Hyacinths are ridiculous
in the front.
yeah, this is gonna be
a bit of a thing.
it could take us
all day to get 100 yards
in this.
oh, my gosh.
The hyacinth
and the vines are a nightmar
It's taking us so much time
to cut through them.
man, this stuff
is ridiculous.
hyacinth's thick.
It's exhausting.
You know, me and amber,
we have to move it
out of the way.
It's like two paddles forwar
one paddle back.
there's some
clear patches ahead as well,
So just keep pushing.
but we have to get
to this wider water.
The wider the water gets,
the faster the river flows,
The less hyacinth,
the less vines
there's gonna be,
And the quicker
we're gonna be able
to get to our destination.
Keep pushing, guys.
Keep going.
keep pushing,
we got no choice here, people.
got a long ways
to go, guys.
Long ways to go.
it's hot right now.
Sweating like a bitch.
It is mid-day out here
and baking.
The humidity
is through the roof.
holy hell.
Get some water back here,
get some water.
this is tough.
This is a lot
of physical exertion.
It's sweltering, it's hot.
You can feel it starting
to wear on people.
I gotta take
a little breather, guys.
I'm kinda in the sun
over here.
it's quite possible
That somebody could pass out
Thanks for the canopy too, ej,
'cause it's saving
our butt right now.
otherwise, we would've
been lobsters right now.
it is so hot.
Without that canopy,
we would burn.
It is unbelievable
how much that canopy
is saving our butt.
hell.
we're all hurting, guys,
just keep going.
Aw, man.
keeping this pace up
for hours is rough as hell.
every time I push
this paddle through the water,
I'm getting muscles
cramped up in my back.
My body's feeling it.
I'm aching all over my body
my back especially,
Cramping up with every singl
stroke I pull.
But getting home,
talking to my kids,
talking to my girlfriend,
That's gonna keep
pushing me through.
This is just rough.
Just gotta keep pushing.
Keep pushing.
dig in!
- keep paddling.
- keep going, dig in.
I don't have
anything left.
I literally am at muscle failure.
It is so hot,
But knowing this
is my redemption,
I'm never gonna
accept failure again,
And I'm gonna keep
working hard.
I believe in myself,
and I believe in
my teammates here.
This is the last push.
just gotta
get further out.
look at that!
Looks like a big lake ahead.
that's the amazon!
that's the amazon rive
whoo-hoo!
we beat you!
That's right!
whoo! Yeah!
we are officially
in the amazon river.
- Yeah!
- Yeah!
guys, check it out.
Is that a boat?
- Yeah!
- Whoo!
60 days in the amazon!
60 days!
Whoo!
yeah, buddy!
this is a huge
accomplishment.
There were aspects
of this challenge
That were definitely
the hardest things I've ever
had to endure.
That first week was one of
the hardest weeks I've ever
had to endure,
And that jump from 21 to 60
has not been done before.
Dan and I are the first two
to do that.
And when my grandkids
come to my kids
And say, "what was
grandpa was like?"
I wanted to come out
and have a record
Of this is who I am.
This is what I'm made of.
We did it!
yes!
I did 60 days
In one of the most extreme,
harshest environments.
The success in this is huge.
Failure was hard
last year in louisiana.
I get really sad
thinking about it
Because it was
the hardest thing
I ever failed at,
And I tried so hard,
and my body just wasn't
agreeing with it.
knowing I had
one last opportunity
To come out
on a 60-day challenge,
My heart needed it.
Whoo! Oh, god!
I feel like a badass.
I feel like
a strong woman leader.
I'm never gonna let
anything stop me ever again.
so proud of you,
sweetheart.
Only girl to make it.
Whoo!
my last challenge,
I finished alone,
And knowing that
I crossed the finish line
With this amazing team
of legends, all of us
are legends now...
oh.
...I t really just sho
how it doesn't matter
How different of a person
you might be from them...
- one more!
- ...We all share
- this common experience...
oh, man.
...To work and grow
and learn as a team, and...
...It's...
It's all worth it.
- Yeah!
- Yeah!
in ecuador,
I was pulled away
From the amazon too early
with a flesh-eating bacteria
Not this time.
This time,
redemption's been had.
ej, I love you, man.
We made it!
I came out here
this time to help the others
And right now, knowing
that dan and waz
And amber and steven
have made it
to the full 60 days,
- Is a true accomplishment.
- I love you, man.
yeah, yeah!
this is my second
60-day challenge.
I'm 6-0, baby. Team no tap.
- Yeah!
- Whoo!
you know,
if this doesn't "legitify"
Steven lee hall, jr,
I'm kind of a big deal,
I don't know what is.
I think I can
drop "kind of" now.
I'm a big deal, baby.
Right here, just now,
ej just may have done
his final finale,
And I have gone on
yet another journey
With some of the most
incredible people
I've ever met.
yeah!
this is my sixth
challenge completed,
206 days.
This was a tough one.
Being the very first one
to ever do this,
I have such gratitude
in my heart,
And what it's meant to me
In my life.
Couldn't ask
for a better ride.
I have mad respect
for this challenge
But I have to understand
my body and what this takes
out of it...
...And my heart will always
be out on this challenge,
And I'll be rooting
for the others all the way.
- To ej, yeah!
- to ej!
Whoo!
Yeah!
We did it!
oh, wow!
Oh, my god!
Oh, man!
- Oh!
- Look at this.
Oh, coffee machine,
I missed you.
- Oh, my god. I'm so excited.
- It's a whole plate
of mac and cheese.
champagne too,
I'm so excited.
smell...
Like, smell that.
- Oh, my god. Look at this.
- yes, get in here.
I think I'm putting more
on my plate than my stomach,
but I don't even care.
This looks so delicious.
eating such a huge
variety of food groups
Back in the regular world,
it makes you appreciate
everything so much.
Best meal ever.
- whoa!
- - this is what I've been waiting for.
- wow.
- That is so sweet.
Oh, my god.
I'm eating this steak,
and it's just dripping.
I'm still eating
with my hands.
I brought this in.
I figured I'd either be
drinking away my sorrows
Or celebrating
with you guys.
- yeah!
- Whoo!
- Cheers.
- Cheers.
60 day legends!
yeah, cheers!
Way to go, tribe, made it.
Ah, that feels so good.
Get rid of the funk.
Get rid of the funk.
oh, look at that.
Oh, I love my life!
Starving in the amazon
60 days.
This moment makes it worth it.
Oh, my god.
This is ms. Savage
at her greatest.
- Love you.
- I love you.
I love this woman so much.
Ivy, what do you
miss most about amber?
I miss all her love
and support for the family.
Well, we hope she comes home...
Wait a minute.
We missed you!
Oh!
oh, my god.
I missed you guys so much.
- Hello, my husband.
- Hi.
I missed you.
I don't even know you anymore.
You left me and the dog,
we were naked and afraid
the whole time.
Aw, I love you.
Look what I came home to.
Welcome home.
How sweet is this?
What's up, world,
steven lee hall, jr.,
the king of the forest,
And I'm out here
in beautiful, sunny california
On a giant ranch,
doing what I do best,
Uh, go on adventures.
Uh, but one of
the biggest questions,
most common questions I get
Is, uh, how are your teeth?
Did you get your teeth fixed?
Um, for everybody at home...
...I'm all fixed.
Now, I got pretty teeth
to match my pretty face.
Back in the woods,
doing what I do,
Living life and sucking
the bone marrow out of it.
Stay well,
Stay naked,
And survive on.
Yeah!
