Wes and the team get their third big-game kill, but the victory quickly becomes a dangerous medical situation. Plus, Bulent is tested by a heat wave.

and I hunt over

It's really going to suck today.

Feels like it's record

is the worst it's been.
It could get oppressive
to the point
where it may take
some people out.
Our strategy as a team
is to look out for each other.
Sarah:
We're constantly working towards
getting ourselves hydrated.
Frankly, I've just
really not been feeling
too great
these past couple of days
and I haven't been able
to contribute to the group
in the way that I would like to.
Gwen: Alright.

Suzanne: Happy hunting.
Ryan: Yep. Thank you.
Wes: It's been days
since ryan's team,
plus suzanne came up here.
Ever since that day,
we've just been rationing food,
food that was a reserve
that was going nice.
Now there's nothing left.
So, today,
the plans are pretty much same
as they always are.
We're gonna go hunting.
I'm gonna take the top blind,
and he's
gonna take the bottom one.
A lot of the animals come in
down the draw.
Where ryan's gonna be.
I have no ego about providing.
So, we're hoping he gets a shot
at a big animal.
It's a hot day.
Blazing hot already.
We don't have a lot of time
until those hottest hours.
Ryan: I'm not feeling too hot,
at this point.
The heat...
It's really bringing us
to our knees.
The environment knocks me down,
but it also picks me up
and motivates me
to make a kill even more.
I'm gonna sit
in this blind here,
and wait game out.

Bulent: It is just
hot as hell already.
Is that seth?
I thought he left.
Oh, wait. That's a baboon.
My bad.
I started thriving as soon
as people leave me.
Kate left.
I caught a rabbit with
my bare hands.
Makani left.
I got the biggest catfish.
I got two terrapins
and over 20 eggs.
I ate all the terrapin.
I got a couple of eggs left.
Get some breakfast for me.
It's like a dehydrated egg yolk
full of good fats,
full of cholesterol.
The egg shells are made out
of mostly calcium
and other minerals that we need.
This is my last bit of food.

Now seth is gone. I get to keep
his bow and arrow.
Plan for today is
to do some target practice.
If that goes well,
go inspect seth's blind
and grab whatever he left.
Off I go.

Ryan: I've shot bows
since I was four years old.
The hunter inside me
is screaming out.
I need that big win to prove
to myself
that I am a big game bow hunter.
Damn. That was close.
Wes: This is my first real
chance at an impala.
But they catch
wind of everything.
So I only have one opportunity.
Everything I learned
is gonna come down to this.

I think I stuck him pretty good.
We think he got a kill.
He's headed over right now
to check it out and see.
It all happened in a flash,
but I got two sections of blood
right here.

I saw him take a right

That's what I'm talking about.

I feel freaking great.
This has taking us a long way.
This is knocking on the door
of extraction right here.
Oh, my god. That is so hot.

Wes: That's what
I'm doing right now.
I'm trying to get
moving on that.

Gwen: I think it's fantastic
that wes has gotten
his third animal in africa.
He really wanted
the big game kill.
I'm so happy for him.
But I guarantee you,
if we would've gotten
a big game animal before,
we'd have six of us here.
It would've been
too much for us to process.
And so we are very thankful.
Perfect, guys. Perfect.
Oh, my god.
Look at all that liver.
That's awesome.
How rich that is.
Wes: Today, everybody eats.
Everybody's gonna have jerky
for a very long time.
So I'm really, really happy
that I can do that for the team.

Today, I wanted to familiarize
myself with the bow,
because you can't just
grab the bow and go.
You have to know the bow.
You have to know the weight
of the arrows, everything else.
So, I'm setting up some targets.
20 yards.
That's my limit for myself.
I won't shoot it
more than 20 yards out.
This looks about 20 yards.

Right on the money.
So, 20 yards is two and a half.
From here, I can definitely move
on to the blind.
Just have to be very patient
and wait for the animals
to come to you.
They either come or they don't.
You don't take the shot
if they don't.
Simple as that.

Quite frankly,
this is not a [bleep] blind.
I don't know
what the [bleep] this is.
A blind means
animals cannot see you,
and the only way you get
a camouflage, a little bit,
is this way, which doesn't
make any [bleep] sense.
So, I'm gonna have to redo
this plan completely.
[ exhales deeply ]

Jon: This is next level heat.
[ exhales sharply ]
wes: It's unimaginable, really.
Oh, we're coming down to it.
Jon: This is a lot of meat.
So, everybody's scrambling
around to just process it.
If the meat's not smoked,
by the time we have to close
up the boma, we're screwed
because the hyena's will get it.
Any multitude of predators
out here
that would have no problem
murdering us to get this meat.
It's a lot of work,
but I'm a chef in a kitchen
and I love it.
Suzanne: Wes. Tradition.
The hunter.
Oh, I get a little piece
of something.
Liver.

guys, I got to take a walk.

I mean, it's been,
you know, three weeks.
So, yeah, something's telling me
it's gonna happen.
Gwen: Our entire group,
nobody's pooped for three weeks.
But now that we have
a plethora of meat,
we're suddenly introducing
a lot of proteins
and solids into our bodies.
So, now I think one by one,
we're gonna start falling.

Gwen: Even though we have
six of us here,
it still took us
probably four hours
in this hot, hot sun to get
that entire animal harvested.
So now everybody's getting
a little overheated.
Ryan: The heat has
kicked my ass.
Narrator: Fatigue and nausea
are some of the first signs
of heat exhaustion,
and this far into the challenge,
after weeks of dehydration
and exposure,
it can easily escalate to heat
stroke and organ failure.

Wes: No, single worst
experience of my life.
For those at home,
one thing, that us survivalists
don't talk about
that much is using the bathroom.
You are so constipated.
It's terrible.
I did damage trying to poop.
Nothing will come out.
So, I'm a little ginger walking.
Something's not quite right.
There was blood.
- Oh.
- Oh, [bleep]
I'm in a lot of pain,
and that's not an area
you want to mess around with,
'cause infection can set in.
So, I'm gonna lay
as still is possible
and see if some things
will kind of fix themselves.

Gwen: My stomach hurts.
Short of breath.
Ryan: I feel like I've been hit
by a freight truck.
Wes: Gwen's got heat exhaustion
right now.
Suzanne's attending to her,
helping her out
the best she can,
but it ain't a good thing,
and my situation's
only gotten worse,
and it hurt so bad.
I must have really
torn myself pretty good,
which makes me nervous because
that means infection, probably.
Suzanne: Now she's dizzy, too.
[ gwen coughing ]
wes: I'm thinking
about you over there, gwen.
I'm sorry I can't get there.
[ gwen coughs ]
[ gwen retches ]

wes: I'm thinking about you

suzanne: She can't get water
to stay down.
She's dry-heaving.
Meanwhile, wes is also having
some more trouble
with his
heavy, heavy constipation.
He's really
not feeling good, either.
We're just taking it
kind of one family member
at a time here.

I went to seth's place,
gathered whatever
he got left behind.
More supplies, a fire starter,
couple of tips,
couple of arrows.
I'm gonna head out to the blind.
I'm gonna take the bow
just in case something pops out.
The plan is to completely cover
the east and the west side.
If I don't have a shot when
the animals are coming down,
I might actually get a shot
on the way back out.
I want to make a good base
with dead branches like this
so I can cover it with leaves.
Couple on the other side,
and that should give me
some kind of a good cover.

It would be nice to get
an impala, but you know what?
I'm not here to impress people
with my hunting ability
or impress people
with anything, quite frankly.
I'm here to survive.
I'm here to learn about myself
and my limits.
Yeah, let's get in there.
Yeah, it'd be nice
to have a ferrari, too,
but you will never see me
working four jobs
trying to get one.
I'm just a realist that way.
Now, we just wait very quietly,
and hopefully I will have
some kind of a medium
or a small deer for dinner.
We'll see.

I feel a good deal better today,
but it was terrible last night.
The amount of pain I was in,
it was like 10 out of 10.
And I could see gwen
was not in any kind of
fit condition whatsoever.
In fact, I thought
she was gonna tap.
It would be absolutely
devastating if that happened,
because gwen and I,
we've been through some stuff.
Sarah: I feel nauseous
largely because
of the heat exhaustion
yesterday.
The red meat itself has actually
caused us
some digestive problems,
like constipation.
I'm not the only one
that was feeling like crap.
It's kind of been taking a toll
on the whole team.
[ yawns ]
we need to be smart about where
we are placing our efforts.

about healing up,
feeling good, getting ourselves
hydrated as much as possible
so that tomorrow
is just like a new day.
We have to be smart enough
to stay cool,
and maybe a cool spot down by
the pool where we can actually,
like, lay in the pool
or lay in that grass.

pretty far in the challenge.
Strength is weakening.
Recovery is harder.

We're all down at
the watering hole,

Still feel nauseous,

They're doing really well.
We're like the only ones

I can't explain suzanne and I's
unlimited source of energy.
I feel kind of bad watching
everybody having a hard time
'cause I know it sucks.
We're all suffering in one way
or the other,
but I think my body's just used
to just being kind of trashed
and wrecked
for a period of time.
That's just the lifelong

and, you know,
not everybody does that.
This instance has happened to
work out for me pretty good.
I just hope
they are feeling better today.

for the predators.
Is where we dump our guts
and we dump the bones.
We do have food in the boma,
so if the food is not here,
they may come creeping
around over there.
Might as well just distract them
a little bit with this stuff.

your guys' boma up today
and firewood and water.

Ryan: This heat's relentless.
It's [bleep] kicking my ass.
You can see it in your eyes.

You look not well.
Your body's just not accepting
this heat index.
Gwen: If you're not used to
working in heat like this,
your body stops functioning
and there's absolute nothing
you can do about it.
That and we've only been
eating red meat. That's it.
So, the heat is making
everybody constipated
and you need
to go to the bathroom,
so you need to hydrate,
but you can't hydrate
'cause you need
to go to the bathroom.
You're chasing your tail.
It's impossible for us
to catch up here.

Wes: I'm gonna go
build a toilet.
My number one plan today
is using the bathroom.
And so, I'm a little nervous
about that.
I want a comfy place
to sit down.
And since I'm not feeling real
great in that department anyway,
I want to be as relaxed
and as comfortable as possible,
just let nature take its course.
Get your wooden platform,
your toilet bowl,
nice hole in the middle.
This is not my first toilet
I've built.
This is the first one
out of rocks, though.
It's been a long time since
I've gone to the bathroom.
I'm jam packed in there,
so it's not gonna be
a pleasant experience
by any stretch
of the imagination.
And so, the least I can do
is make my situation
as comfortable as possible.
Sarah: God, I keep going through
waves of nausea.
Your body's gonna keep going
through waves of nausea
as long as you don't expel
the contents in your bowels.

I just feel so useless.
Sarah:
I'm definitely not the only one
having this problem right now.
We've been
eating so much red meat
and we haven't been
getting enough fat,
haven't getting enough fiber.
We're facing very extreme heat,
and it's tough.

Soon as your stomach rights
itself, you need fluids.

a quart of fluids there.

And I'm worry that
if I drink too much,
I'm gonna vomit again.
I just cannot keep up

because we've all been doing

and eating the same thing.
It's worrisome because that
might be in all of our futures.
Gwen: That could be

I mean, that could be
all of us tomorrow
or the next day.
Sarah: I mean, [bleep].
I'm at the point
where I can hardly
keep water down.
Gwen: Same with me.
I feel like I'm gonna throw up
every time I drink water
'cause it's just
too much in my system.
Yeah.
The situation with wes
is a pretty scary reminder
of what can happen
if this progresses for me.
I might end up having to face
what he's facing,
and I'm not
looking forward to it.

hopping in that ambulance
just like wes here

I didn't come into it thinking

It's hard to see him go.
He wanted to do 40 really bad.
That was his bucket list item,
to get that done,
and it's kind of worst case
scenario for any survivalist
is to get medically tapped.
Now, everybody here
is really concerned
because we're kind of all
in the same boat wes was,
that we're all constipated,
haven't pooped at all.
So, it's a heavy thought
on everybody's minds right now
that everybody else could be
hopping in that ambulance
just like wes here
in the next day or two
if things don't start moving.
Suzanne: I actually did not
expect that. I really didn't.
Makes me nervous. Yep.

I didn't come into it thinking

You can't overcome

I'm sad that to leave
my teammates, especially gwen,
but I brought down
three large game animals
to feed my teammates.
I've had a good run. It's been
a good challenge for me.
I'm just not gonna be able
to see it through to 40.
I feel really,
really bad because I know
that we're not invincible.
As smart as we are
and is determined as we are,
we're human
and we can break just like that.
