away on the same beach,
the remaining members
of the all-female team
carried on as a twosome...
And that's how you do.
Until a serious infection
brought Christina's
challenge to an end.
Rylie: Survivalism
is so hard by yourself.
And for the newly
merged team of six...
Max's 2-mile swim
brought much-needed calories
to the resource-depleted beach.
Look how beautiful this is.
But it wasn't enough
to keep Russell
from eating
highly acidic fruit...
A decision that has now
put his challenge at risk.

Jeff and Laura enter day 32
of their 60-day
challenge with confidence
and a solid supply of resources.
I think we've got
it perfect, Laura,
between unripe bundles,
we have bundles
that are fully ripe.
- We really prepared well.

We've got an entire variety,
that's exactly what we wanted.
Being here has
been such a blessing.
We've been able to
replenish ourselves, get food,
and we feel strong,
we feel good.
We need to dry them.
Is it even remotely
possible to dry 100 bananas
before we leave here?

our way to extraction

Jeff: Extraction is
a very far distance
away from our current location.
This is definitely gonna have
to be a multi-stage migration.
Even though it's
gonna be difficult,
I really believe
that leaving here
while we're strong, you
know, while we have energy...

This place has been good to us.

I feel like we're ready
for the next place,

Narrator: A few hundred
yards away, new arrivals,
Duke, James, and Gabrielle,
are taking full advantage
of their new resources.
Gabrielle: So, is this where
you found the bananas last night?
Duke: Yep. So, I think
I grabbed plantains,
and there's a small
bunch bananas
right as we walked into
this one on the outside.
Do we want to grab those?
Yeah, we might as well.
Gabrielle: Our
shelter is constructed
so now we're
gathering resources.
We are harvesting as
much as we possibly can,
especially bananas
and sugar cane.
This is the sugar cane.
This is a really
precious commodity.
We spent the first
almost week and a half
in a really barren area.
We're all feeling pretty
good about our spot right now.
[ Grunts ]
I think that's a
pretty good haul.
- Dang, sugar queen!
- Whoo!
You can be my sugar
mamma any time!
[ Chuckles ] Fair enough.
Fair enough. We're doing well,
but we are always
looking for more resources.
You guys want to walk and
talk and see what we see?
Let's go for a scouting mission.
Narrator: At the far
end of the same beach,
Rylie faces her first day as
the lone remaining member
of the all-female team.
Yesterday, Christina tapped,
and honestly I feel
like complete [bleep]
She became, you
know, my friend out here
more so than a teammate,
and I just felt like
we could do it.
Now I'm the only one left,
and I did my first
challenge by myself.
I think this is a very
low point for me.
Look. Who's that?
Hey! Hello?
It's a Naked person!
Whoo!
I hear yelling and screaming,
and they're coming
down the beach.
Three bad-asses looking
for some other bad-asses.
Hi, friends! How you doing?
It's been a long road here.
I am so pumped
to see other people.

like, there's people
that I don't even
like in my life
that I would have been
happy to see come through
just because they're
another human.
James: So, where
are your partners?
They both tapped. I am
completely on my own.

So, I'm the last
of women's team.

I'm excited to see Rylie,
but at the same time,
our hearts dropped
because being alone out here
would be unbelievably difficult.
James: We're on a new beach,
and we've met
Rylie which is great.
It might afford us the
opportunity to fish better.
We have more hands
to collect the firewood.

Duke: So, how are you feeling?
When Christina left,
when you think about,
like, there's 30 more days,
and myself having
to do it by myself,
it's incredibly
daunting to think,
how am I gonna pull this off?
You know, I wanted to build
something with my teammates,
and now they're both gone.
Well, what do you think? We
should probably adopt Rylie.
[ Laughter ]
I'm adopted!
The fact that I have been,
you know, adopted into a
group and not only any group,
but a group that really
suits me, I got very lucky.
So, hopefully on day 40,
we all walk out together.

Charlie: We got a body coming.
Looks like Russell.
Back from the dead.

So, my indigestion
caused my stomach
to distend, which was
pushing up on my diaphragm
and my lungs so
I couldn't breathe.
It was causing all of my muscles
to tighten up 'cause
of lack of oxygen.
So, they got me in there,
and they laid me down,
and once I got calmed
down and relaxed,
caused me to release
that pressure that I had,
and I'm fine and dandy now.
Duck and I thought
you were gonna die
in our arms on the beach.
We we're like, "aw, geez."
It was getting there.
Russell: Last night
really scared me.
I have never experienced
that before in my life.
My body's weak
from all the cramps.
- Welcome back.

I'm glad you're feeling better.
Oh, yeah, I'm
definitely feeling better.
As soon as Russell
rolls up, it's awesome,
but it's concerning
because we currently
don't have a solid food source.
And we obviously need something
more substantial than fruit.

Resource-wise, we kind
of blew through this place
like a hurricane.
- Yep.

Max: I think it's time
to start thinking of
hitting the road. Yeah.

We have to get off this beach.
There's got to be a jungle, some
place with food and more water.
So, we want to be careful
when we get out of here.
By land could be dangerous
so you know I got hurt.

so we take our time.

All righty, it looks like we're
right here at this beach,
and I think we're headed
in through this waterway
to that water source and
this cave system right here.
Narrator: With their
beach resources depleted,
the team of six will head 7
miles into the dense jungle,
towards this system of caves,
a path infested with thorns,
poisonous centipedes,
and Philippine pit vipers
whose camouflaged skin
creates a nearly
invisible and deadly threat.
- A lot of clouds rolling in.
- Yep.
It's gonna be a fun hike.

- You guys good?
- Oh, yeah.
Collect any edibles
you see as we go.
I won't even need to wear
shoes anymore after this.
My feet are gonna
be bulletproof.
[ Thunder crashes ]
Charlie: I'm worried
about the storm coming up.

We're going at a good pace.
This is the type of terrain
that got me in Ecuador.
Now we're walking
inside this jungle,
and it's pouring
down rain, downpour.
I'm very careful
when I'm walking,
especially in the jungle.
My last XL challenge, I slipped,
and I severed my quad then.
Whoa!

To have gotten hurt so
quickly, it was devastating.
It's the first thing
I feel I failed at.
I have a scar that reminds
me of it every damn day.
Redemption means

that we're mostly palatable.
We're starting to have the
idea of migrating simply because
we know that our
extraction point
is very, very far from here.
It'll be good to get out of here
and get a little bit closer
to our extraction point.

couple days from now,
which means that, like, tomorrow
will probably be
our last big, like,
resource collection day.
'Cause the day after will
be, like, packing day, right?
Make a big push for
collection of resources.
We are going to be weaker
toward the end of our challenge
and to err on the
side of caution,
we don't want to be
facing a 20-mile hike.
James: Maybe find

Laura: Yeah, we need to
find a route for tomorrow.
We know we're not
going by the sea.

inland there's another
freshwater source here.
God, is that another cave? Whoa.
That looks like a big cave.
Yeah.
So, I think that's
pretty obvious.

there, that cave.
I say we let the others know.

Trekking through the jungle,
there's safety in numbers,
more eyes to spot the dangers,
but also more noise to
scare the dangers away.
We were talking, and
we're probably gonna start
heading for the jungle.
Jeff: Tomorrow is
what we're thinking.

while our energy
levels are still high.
I mean, we want to
get closer to extraction,
and if we get 1/3 of the way,
rather than wait
here for two weeks
and maybe run out of
bananas, that's a no-brainer.

if it works better,

head out together.

This place is definitely
a recovery zone for us.
We came in here, and
we've been rejuvenated.
Jeff and Laura,

head into that jungle,

Well, it's good
shelter, good cover.

exactly the training
I did in the Marine Corps
right here in the Philippines.
Exactly the conditions
and the same environment.
I wasn't on a
beach, I was in this.

We're about to leave this beach,

through a very, very dense jungle.
From what I understand,
it's tough to navigate.
To me, that's nerve wracking.

There's about to be a lot more
dangling bananas in this jungle.

Got yellow flies out here.
I've already got stung right
where you don't
want to get stung.

- It is amazing once you leave
that beautiful, sandy beach
how quickly it turns into
dense, harsh jungle.

The last sound of the waves
are fading into the distance.
This place is so thick and
difficult to navigate and muddy.
We're in the thick of it now.

Laura and I spent 20
days in the jungle already.
We know what awaits us
in there, and it's not pretty.
And if you're not

what are we doing today?
We're pretty much doing it
until this rain stops at least.
It's cold and wet out there,
I don't think that's something
that we really want to...
Other than grabbing firewood.
We're all a little bit tired.
You know, when you're so low
on energy and you trek so much,
and it's the rain and it's cold,
so, today is rest, hydration,
firewood, and, you know, sleep.

Coming through the jungle,
we saw this gaping
hole in the rocks.
And it was a massive cave.

could sleep here.

Maybe there's some nooks
and crannies throughout.

There's a nice cubby spot
here for maybe two people.
Oh, for sure.
Upstairs, there's a tiny,
little, cramped cavern
that Jeff and I actually like.
Small spaces are easy to
heat, it's pretty dry up there,
and it just makes
sense for us to be there.
This is a good score,
though. Good start.
Yeah, this cave is amazing.
I guess we're gonna have
to share a house, neighbors.
- Yeah.

I feel my job is out

You know, he's got a little bit

About a 22-inch snake
that he fed all of us,
with some frog legs
to boot, so that's huge.
Charlie: I'm happy because
I was able to feed the team.

After a little while,
it might sink in.

on this flat ground,
and then this is

Laura and I, we know
that there's water.
I may have to put my small fish
hooks to work in these streams.

That's got me intrigued
because eels like deep,
dark water with a lot of cover.
If there was ever an area
where there would be eels,
it would be at the
mouth of that cave.
Any eel coming through
here, it's gonna see my bait.
I'm gonna set up a whole
lot of passive fishing lines,
and they can be fishing for us.
They're gonna be our
employees working as we sleep.
I think that's the way to go.

dead tree right here.
It's nice firewood.
Look at how dry that is.
You see, firewood, you
got to go out and look for it,
so we're taking that back,
we're gonna cut it down,
stack it up, and then
try and gather the troops
to come help take it back.
Maybe they'll hear the banging,
and they'll come and
see what's going on.

Russell: Charlie's a go-getter,
and he always has been
a go-getter, but he's wasting
his energy that he doesn't have.
And we are
conserving our calories,
and it was a group decision
to conserve our calories.

Duke and Gabby have
gone off to explore.
They know there's a river.
I'm here tending the fire.
Somebody needed
to stay to keep it going.
Rylie: To get firewood here
is incredibly
demandingly difficult.
You still have to
process it and dry it.
It's a time thing.
Somehow, some
way, it is mostly dry.

This is a long trek to get to

but we've got to

There's a nice cubby spot
here for maybe two people.

Upstairs, there's a tiny,
little, cramped cavern
that Jeff and I actually like.
Small spaces are easy to
heat, it's pretty dry up there,
and it just makes
sense for us to be there.
This is a good score,
though. Good start.
Yeah, this cave is amazing.
I guess we're gonna have
to share a house, neighbors.

with some frog legs
to boot, so that's huge.

That's got me intrigued
because eels like deep,
dark water with a lot of cover.
If there was ever an area
where there would be eels,
it would be at the
mouth of that cave.
Any eel coming through
here, it's gonna see my bait.
I'm gonna set up a whole
lot of passive fishing lines,
and they can be fishing for us.
They're gonna be our
employees working as we sleep.
I think that's the way to go.

It's nice firewood.

got to go out and look for it,
so we're taking that back,
we're gonna cut it down,
stack it up, and then
try and gather the troops
to come help take it back.
