expedition was awesome.
Getting that huge thing of
protein was a game changer.
Like, we were on
a downhill slope.
Amber: Feels so good
having that protein.
My energy is just
beyond amazing right now.
Giovanna: Lacey seems
like a natural leader.
Last night, we filled
our bellies with fish.
It was absolutely worth all
the energy we put forward.
I'm really, really
glad that we did it.
Our first piece of
furniture! Whoo-hoo!
I love my partners.
We are totally copacetic.
I'm a giver.
I'm the oldest of
five, and I'm a mom,
so I have always
taken care of people.
Amber: Good teamwork yesterday.
As long as we get protein,
we can keep pushing
as much as we want.
I'm gonna have
to agree with you.
I'm proud of us.
We did good today.
Narrator: Three miles to
the north, at Laguna Negra,
Shannon and Fernando
continue to battle hunger,
and for Shannon, only a few
hours' sleep over eight days
is taking its toll.
Shannon is struggling
with the challenges out here,
like we all are.
I feel my responsibility
as a teammate
to help her in any way.
Last night, I stayed awake
till 2:00 in the morning.
You did that to help me,
but you've probably slept
about 20 times more than I have.
If you're not sleeping,
it's taxing on your body,
and you absolutely
lose your mind.
Do you think
napping during the day
could make up for
your lack of sleep?
It's hard to even, like,
nap during the day for me.
In life, I go, go, go,
but get out into the jungle,
and I just... I can't sleep.
I think with three people,
it's a lot friggin' easier.
I slept like a baby.
That's the only time I slept.
Fernando: Well, it sounds
like, to me, it's a no-brainer.
We should go look
for other people,
just to get more people
so you can sleep better.
Is something that you'd
leave this camp for?
But what if we get
there and it's just like
this even worse situation?
I don't really want
to leave this camp.
It's just a lot of effort,
and I can't imagine,
like, traveling,
expending a lot more energy.
Fernando: We know there
are other teams out there,
and I, personally, look forward
to seeing who else is out there,
but I can tell Shannon
has some reservations.
A [bleep] journey.
I don't want to go
on a [bleep] journey.
A journey sounds like fun.

square meals a day.
Shannon: We've been talking
about this move for a long time,
and, you know, that's
a huge gamble to take.

pretty firmly in the
"stay here" camp.

I'm not a pessimist.
Normally, I'm very
much of an optimist.
But I could be
swayed if I, like, knew
we've got food, water...

Fernando: I really want
to see other people,
but Shannon... She
does not want to go.
So, um... If that's what
I have to do, I'll do it.

the south, in Punta Araña,
Matt and Russell have
been living on the spoils
of a big kill for
the past two days.
Russell: Anything I
can do to help, brother,

First thing I did is I woke
up, went over to the smoker,
grabbed some meat,
and had me a snack.
That's how damn well
we're surviving right now
is we're like, "oh."
Russell: We can
pick what we want.
"Oh, I guess I'll take
some dark meat."
I have probably eaten
seven pounds of meat,
more than any group
of survivalists will eat
in the entire 40
days, and that is huge.
There's multiple other
people right now surviving,
and I wish I could
share the bounties.
Some of this is... I
mean, look at that, dude.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, stay away from that part.
You know, it's to that point
where the smoke got in there,
but there's that
part right there.
See that second layer? Mm-hmm.
That's the stuff we
don't want to screw with.
Damn shame.
But, you know, you can't
preserve meat in the jungle.
We don't have a
refrigerator out here,
so that meat is gonna go bad.

Matt: The truth of the matter
is, this pig is gonna be gone,
so I would say
the hunt is back on.

down to the river

heat up enough drinking
water to gorge ourselves.
Giovanna: I'm worried
about our coals.
We got to try to
move a little faster.
The only issue is,
going down there...
It makes the fire
situation a little risky.
We won't be able to watch
the fire back in the shelter.
I'm trying to pick my path here.
There's a lot of
Clay here, guys.

Amber: Just walking
down the hill to the lagoon,
everything is so slippery
with Clay, it's dangerous.
And everything we do, the
Amazon has to fight against us.
Giovanna: I feel
so light-headed.

Matt is an excellent hunter, and
he was able to bring the pig in.

and I go out there and do it.

Matt: Russell is the kind of
guy that he's very thickheaded.
We're kind of, you
know, complete opposites.

But at the same time, we're
like straight-up buddies.

We want to get a little
bit deeper out there,
but I get a little worried.
There is a fish out here

out in the jungle
because there's a lot of
dangers lurking around,
and electric eels
might be a big concern.

want anything to happen
just because you're not alert.

assistance to my partners.

keep the fire going for them,
so they don't have
to worry about it
and they can do what needs
to be done until I get better.
I can't let my girls

so that they could

where there is much bigger fish.

go-getter and the motivator.
She was our leader.

shelter just in case it rains?
