The seven remaining survivalists enter week two of their brutal challenge in the Amazon. After two tap-outs in the first four days, their priority is to find food.

in the most remote
wilderness on the planet.

they must master the

Previously, nine survivalists

entered the flooded jungles
of Ecuador's Amazon basin.

It kinda looks like man
isn't supposed to live here.

Spread across ten square miles,

they began the challenge
divided into three camps.

At Rio Mortal...

Giovanna: Oh god,
something bit my ass so hard.

Lacey: The bugs
are [Bleep] horrible.

Narrator: The all-female team

struggled to secure fire

and water in the
damp conditions.

Come on, you evil bastard.

Amber: If we don't
get water by tomorrow,

then we might be tapping out.

Whoo, fire! Oh, my god.

Narrator: At Laguna Negra...
[ Groans ] Cut my foot.

Shannon: Gross!

A freak injury
and lack of food...

was too much for one
survivalist to overcome.

And at Punta Araña... Ah!

Narrator: The bravado
of the all-male trio

was shattered by
the shocking loss

of a teammate on day one...

- I just broke my knee.
- Seriously?

Ah! First [ Bleep ] day.

Narrator: Leaving

to face the Amazon alone.

Thing came right

Matt: Either it
snuck off or crept off.

That thing came out of nowhere.

Narrator: Six miles to
the north, at Laguna Negra,

Fernando and Shannon face

their first night
without their teammate.

[ Buzzing ]

Fernado: [ Snoring ]

I'm so [ Bleep ] tired

Fernado: I feel like it was
warmer the first few days out here.

It's kinda colder.

Yeah.

Shannon: First
night without Matt

was cold... very,
very difficult to sleep.

And there's like, a bear
that lives in my den as well.

If I could not snore...
I know... I would.

I know.

time in the night...

No, I'm not even gonna...

I love Fernando, but it
makes it very difficult for me

'cause I'm a very light sleeper.

Right now, I'm building
woven palm blankets

to combat the cold.

I'm pretty lucky to have a
partner who's a contractor.

You take shelter-building
very seriously.

I love it. [ Laughs ]

I am a stone-Mason contractor.

Doing stonework
kinda prepares me

to bust my ass all day out here.

You know, I have a
physical job at home,

so I feel like I feel
the need to sleep.

It's really hard not to
be able to heal your body

because you're
not sleeping here.

Cordage... rope of jungle.

Having Matt leave
and tap out early

was definitely a blow
to our work production

and how much we could
accomplish in a day.

So, whether it be helping
her get her body heat up

or helping her
keep her morale up,

my goal right now is
to be a good teammate.

I have added a small
little addition to our shelter.

Shanando... it's our
two names combined.

Name our house now. [ Laughs ]

That is awesome!

That is perfect. I love it.

You know, it's just
the two of us now,

so we really have to
rely on each other a lot.

It kinda has a nice ring to it.

So, last night was
a mix of emotions

like a son of a bitch.

Hoo, boy howdy!

- It was an eventful evening.
- I know.

I'm surprised I even
got to sleep after that.

The dangers of a big cat

coming into camp
could be catastrophic.

Never quite seen
the likes of this place.

Amazon's no joke.

And when it growls...
Unh-unh. Unh-unh.

- Nope.
- Unh-unh.

No sir, I was done.

That was intense.

Right now, I can barely
keep my eyes open.

I'm just tired, I'm hungry,
so part of the plan today

was trying to get a small
bit of food even though

we don't have
the energy to do it.

[ Animal snorting ]

Matt: My bow is kinda
an extension of my hand.

I've got my primitive bow
here. I actually made this sucker.

I've had a lot of
alligators, a lot of snakes.

And if a pig slips up,

I'm gonna stick
him with an arrow.

Narrator: In the Amazon,
wild pigs travel in huge

droves that can number over 100,

and they're
fiercely territorial.

Shh, shh, hey.

I am confident that
we're gonna have bacon

on the damn fire before long.

Narrator: Three and a half miles
southeast in the dense jungle

of Rio Mortal, Lacey, Amber,

and Giovanna
continue to struggle

against the elements.

Amber: I'm gonna
put this over this side,

'cause we got a lot
of drips on our head

a few random drips last night.

But it's cold,
I'm not gonna lie.

I just don't like how it's
wet all the damn time.

This place, the Amazon,

it's one of the hardest
places I've ever been to.

The shelter and the weather...

It is all the time, it's
fighting against us.

Every day we have to fix it up.

Every single day we have
to do something different to it

to make sure it works,
and it's a constant battle.

So, the Amazon is kinda
kicking our butt right now.

Lacey: Day five with no
protein... we're hurting.

We need sustenance.

My belly is rumbling.

I'm hungry.

Maybe exploring is the
key to finding sustenance.

I was military
police in the army.

The military has instilled

in me willpower,
organizational skills.

So I am mission-minded,
and lack of food, protein,

that is really the thing
that I worry about the most.

Oh, my gosh.

Ho-ly... crap.

That is the world's
largest worm,

and it looks freaking delicious.

Holy crap, that thing is crazy.

Narrator: Feeding on everything
from decomposing animals to feces,

some species of
earthworm in the Amazon

can grow to five feet long.

Lacey: It's like
the size of a snake.

I don't know if the girls
will be willing to eat it or not.

We'll see.

- Did you get a grub?
- Girl, no.

Amber: If you got a
snake, you're amazing.

- What is that?
- It's the size of a snake.

[ Coughs ] It's the
world's largest worm.

Amber and Giovanna: [ Gasps ]

- Oh, my god!
- Oh, my lord!

It might as well be a snake.

Now, I'm just
trying to think of...

- How to cook it?
- Well...

- Do you have to gut it?
- No.

Have you ever eaten a worm?

Lacey: Yeah, I just eat it raw.

But, I'd rather cook this one.

Good find, Lacey!

We needed it.

Oh, it's gross.

Amber: Yeah, it looks
really unappetizing to me.

Just take a lick on it.

It's dirt.

[ Spits ] It's full of dirt.

- Look at that.
- Oh, my goodness.

- Oh, barf.
- It's full of dirt.

It's not... this feels like
meat over here already.

Try the head.

That looks, like, gross.

Meat! Maybe that's
just the pooper.

I just licked his poop.

[ Laughter ]

You ate the ass.

All right. So, here we go.

Lacey: None of it
edible... None of it.

If I eat it, it will give
like, the [ Bleep ].

That's Ecuador
telling me to suck it,

'cause I need a real meal.

So...

- It's so gross.
- I can't swallow it.

Matt: Be careful Russell,

there's a black
palm in here, man.

All right.

Russell: Black
palm, for us, basically

is like barbed wire.

Everywhere you step,
you're stepping on needles.

Oh, [ Bleep ].

[ Groaning ]

You did get a shot off on a pig,

and they decide to charge you,

you can't run on black palm.

So you're just basically
sealing your own fate.

[ Bird screeching ]

[ Sighs ] Oh, son of a bitch!

My arrow's sitting there,
and there's no blood.

My heart just drops
out of my body.

It missed him, just a few
inches [ Bleep ] damn it.

Russell: You know, hunting
for fun at home is one thing,

but hunting for
survival... Totally different.

[ Bleep ] Damn it. It was close.

Dude, we could've
almost touched it.

They're getting into some
thick black palm country.

Yeah. Let's just head back.

All right, I'm following you.

Matt: As a hunter, I am
haunted by those epic misses.

And right now, I'm
dealing with like,

you know, this
heartache of knowing

that opportunity was
as good as it gets

and didn't get to, you
know, capitalize on it.

They're not gonna win.

At some point, there's
gonna be a pig on this

[ bleep ] Damn fire. Damn well.

Because now, that pissed me off.

Now you're pissed.

Eventually, you're
gonna be in our belly.

Lacey: I'm
collecting palm fronds

for our alphabet fish trap.

Lack of food and
protein... It's getting to us.

So we're gonna head down
the river, set some traps,

and hopefully we'll
have fish soup for dinner.

- Is that enough?
- I think so.

A lot of the resources

that we're using
are up by our shelter.

And we're having to
carry down all of the things

that we need for the stationary
fish trap down to the water.

It's scary out here.

Yeah, kinda spooky.

Amber: The water
is very intimidating.

It's dark, you
can't see that well.

It could be a stingray, it
could be an electric eel.

I mean, we're not
sure what's in there.

We're gonna make a simple like,

"m" fish trap, try to
get some piranha.

Amber: What it is is you
build out a box right here,

and on the inside you make it go

in like the shape
letter of an "m."

And then from that
point, the fish go in

and they can't get out.

Yeah, it kinda confuses them.

They just stare at
the walls and sit there.

Damn!

Lacey: Whoa, what is that?

[ Splashing ]

Okay.

Giovanna: I really have no idea.

Lacey: The water...
It is dangerous,

but we have to get
this [ Bleep ] done.

All right, let's finish this.

Protein, today's the day.

You wanna send me
some, I'll do the other side?

We need so much more than this.

I know. It's discouraging.

How's it going, guys?

Um, we need more sticks.

That's all we got?

We're gonna have to cut more.

Yep, or we can just
head back home.

We have no traps out, though.

We don't have anything.

Yeah, that really sucks.

If we were to not
finish our fish trap

for two more days,

and then it takes three
days to catch a fish,

I mean, by then you're
gonna be like, beyond starving.

I just really wanted
a fish trap done.

That was the goal. It was.

I see them, I hear them,
and it's pissing me off.

Nighttime is when
the fish come in,

so I just wanna have
one trap in today.

I think that was
all of our goal, hun.

I know. Just remember that.

Amber: But, it is frustrating
that we didn't get it done,

but we have to be really
careful with our energy.

We'll go a couple more
days without fish if we have to.

Is it that we're not
pushing ourselves,

or is that we're being...
You know what I mean?

Like, I could
probably go, go, go.

Giovanna: Lacey's
very strong-willed,

and she's all about action
and getting things done.

And you know, I
don't wanna lie around

in the dirt for 40 days either.

Yeah.

- Well...
- I don't know.

I don't wanna start a fight. I
don't wanna go lone ranger.

We are a tribe, and we
have a long ways to go.

So I'm trying to hold
this team together,

but I'm extremely frustrated.

Russell: We have went hunting.

We didn't get anything.

Just tired, damn tired.

We need to get
some protein in us

if we want another
hunt like that.

I hope and I pray that
mother earth allows me

another opportunity to
harvest one of these pigs.

I'm at the point now
that I could really use it.

[ Thunder crashing ]

It's raining really hard.

Suddenly, the rain
just came pouring down.

There's pretty kicking thunder

and lightening
out there right now.

[ Thunder crashes ]

[ Coughs ]

It is freezing cold.
The rain is intense,

and I'm so sick
right now with a cold.

[ Thunder crashes ]

Giovanna: Whoa! Holy [bleep]!

[ Bleep ] You Amazon!

♪♪

[ Coughs ]

[ Sneezes ] I feel really bad.

It's like, hard to
even blow the fire.

I feel like it's just
like I have no breath.

Mm-hmm. [ Clears throat ]

Lacey: It got mad
crazy cold last night.

It was impossible to stay warm,

and we're getting
sick and we need food

or we are not gonna last.

Giovanna: Ecuador's
just not giving it up, man.

I think the biggest problem we
have is just this damn shelter.

After the storm it
got knocked down,

so I think we're
gonna have to fix it up.

I don't think our shelter
is, like, as bad as like,

you feel it is I guess. We
need a little more thatching.

That's probably
gonna take 15 minutes.

Amber: And the
biggest thing is enclosing

this open area by
putting a beam there.

That's a great idea,
and it's very innovative.

I just don't think that
trumps getting protein.

You see what I mean?

They want to just stay
up here and fix our shelter

and la-Dee-da-Dee about.

And I think that's
a huge mistake.

I mean, I don't wanna
build the shelter all day,

but I think that this
is more important.

I really do. Yeah,
I understand that.

I just completely disagree.

Amber: I know Lacey's
a go-getter, but I think

that we should slow down
our pace tremendously.

We haven't had
one day of resting.

We haven't, and we
have been go, go, go.

What if we did have
that one day of relaxation,

and then just
kill it from there?

Our tribe is talking,
talking, talking, talking.

And there's no
action, action, action.

Nothing is getting done.

I'm honestly not
feeling very well.

I feel like I should just like,
chill today and not do too much.

The water... it's spooky.

It's creepy, and I don't
see anything good to eat.

The Amazon keeps giving
me the big ol' middle finger.

This is 100 percent
an environment

where you need to fish at night.

I think we really do need to
utilize our fish Spears at night

when the fish will be coming in,

'cause the piranha
and the vampire fish,

they come in to shore at night

to catch the minnows to eat.

So logically, that
would be our best bet.

But it is dangerous.

Shannon: You know, there's
definitely a lot to do today

and it sucks not
sleeping at night

'cause you don't wanna
do what you need to do.

Losing sleep is hard

because you wanna
get a lot more done,

and when you're just tired and
your body's tired and you're...

Everything's
just... It's harder.

Wow, look at that.

This is a great find.

This could be either
protein, or this could be bait.

Shannon is a very
skilled survivalist.

I mean, she survived
21 days in Trinidad.

But I know if she
has some doubts

if she really can suffer
this long for 40 days.

Yeah, this is good.

This is a good
thing in survival.

[ Chuckles ]

I'm gonna go show my
partner and see what she thinks.

She's having a hard time
keeping her morale up.

You know, day after day
of not sleeping at night

is really getting to her.

Shannon, you're gonna love this.

They're small and little,

but here's a
little pile of them.

I feel like it's
my responsibility

as a teammate to do whatever
I can to help her in any way.

I kinda covered them with
some dirt to keep them alive.

I need her here.

She's a good person
and she's a good worker,

and life without Shannon

would be extremely
difficult here in the Amazon.

I told myself that
whenever it got like,

just like, brutal hard, I
would just, like, smile.

And it kinda feels
good. Just smile.

Now, I really hope and

on earth, so right

And for the pigs,
that's dangerous.

spirits have been crushed.

I see good things
coming to us. I really do.

I don't wanna just
sit here and eat

every now and then
and waste away.

Lacey: Honestly, all I’m
thinking about is night fishing.

Amber: That makes me nervous.

Amber: When you
go fishing at nighttime,

it's incredibly dangerous.

A lot of stuff we can't see.

You are just like, full-throttle
all the time, which is amazing.

And it's awesome
to watch you work.

I'd like to stay this way,
but I can't without more food.

Exactly. Like, at this point,

I'm gonna have to go full-on

conservation mode
after tomorrow.

Lacey: We need fish,
or we are not gonna last.

This is like make it
or break it right here.

We need protein.

I have a lot of fat reserves.

I honestly think
that... I don't, though.

It's better to be dry and
get protein tomorrow.

I don't agree at all.

My personal
experience... Day seven,

we need protein to give
us that energy boost.

And we'll get it, it's

What I meant by "all talk"
is that we have great ideas.

We are smart and
we have great plans,

but we just are lacking
the energy to do it,

If our shelter is water-tight,
then I'm all for going.

But I just don't forsee
that all happen today.

Lacey: I can't do this
night expedition by myself.

The risk is too large.

Bit it's majority rules,
so crossed fingers

that I have one tribal
member behind me

and therefore the plan will
still go forward as needed.

on what happens today.

Thunderstorms
coming in like yesterday,

how bad we heard
them, that makes me

a little apprehensive
on doing this.

Lacey's very strong-willed.

I know that she has
a ton of great ideas.

But I think that I'm a little
more cautious in my approach.

But in the end,
being on a united front

is extremely
important in working

through these challenges.

Why don't we just try it out
and see how it goes down there.

If it sucks down there for
us and we're being miserable

and we're being ate up by
bugs and the fire isn't working,

then we'll just do
it another night.

this morning before sunup.

I don't know what his

I don't know if I've ever killed
anything that meant this much.

It's not just about
the hunt right now.

It's about our,
essentially, gift...

Gift from nature to, you
know, aide in our survival.

Right now, is seriously one

of the most emotional
kills I've ever had.

get all our meat smoking.
