Nailed It! Holiday! (2018–2019): Season 1, Episode 5 - Toying Around - full transcript

A gift-wrapped challenge reveals cookie toys -- with moving parts -- but a metallic robot cake with working lights is an even more ridiculous ask.

Ooh, yes! Welcome to another holiday
episode of Nailed It!

The baking competition show
that begs and begs for this,

but is happy to just get this.

I'm your host, Nicole Byer.

Today, three amateur bakers are gonna make
toys that are actually edible treats.

So, once you're bored with them,
you get to eat them!

What a fabulous idea. Oh, my God.

Let's meet our bakers!

My name is Alicia Figliuolo,

and I am a United States
Marine Corps veteran.

I suffered a brain injury last August.

Being unable to bake crushed my soul.

I was still in the thick of my recovery.

Okay, don't laugh.

And watching Nailed It! and the people who
aren't the greatest bakers create things

gave me hope.

That did not sound good.

And now I'm here.

Maybe I'll put something pretty on a
plate that I can spin around and say,

"Nailed it!"

My name is Jill Briganti,
and I'm an elementary school teacher.

I'm going to make a cookie
that looks like me.

I like to bring things into the classroom

that will make the kids excited
about what we're learning.

[Jill laughing]

Even if my students watch me tank,

I know that they would still see
it's worth trying something hard.

Nailed it!

My name is Joe Cogshell.

I currently reside
in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I think baking is pretty simple tactics.

When I was younger,
I'd help my mom out in the kitchen.

But now I bake with my son,
so, for me,

baking is related to, like, family time.

As far as being on Nailed It!, I think
it would motivate me to bake even more.

-You guys ready to pick some fun cakes?
-Yes!

Please blow a kiss to our head judge,
Jacques Torres.

You're going to want to get
on his good side.

Oh, thank you!

And you may have heard this guy

as the voice of Cooper
on Trolls: The Beat Goes On!

Please throw a sweet wave to comedian
and actor Ron Funches.

The sweetest of waves!

Our first round is called
"Baker's Choice."

Behind door number one are three toys
that anyone young

or young at heart would cherish
receiving as a gift.

I know you love playing with
and eating these...

Ooh, it's just like Christmas morning.

Who knows what you're gonna get? Go! Go! Go! Go! Go!

Ah, it's begun!

Oh!

[Jacques] Uh-oh.
I hope she don't break it.

[Nicole] Me too.
Okay, bakers, lift your box.

These three toys are made
from expertly-cut baked cookies,

each assembled to form
a three-dimensional toy figure

with moving parts.

I think I want the fidget spinner.

-Why?
-I don't know how I'm gonna do this.

-Her arms look fragile.
-Move her arms.

-[Alicia humming]
-[Nicole] Ah!

Oh!

[Jacques] Oh, no!

[man] All right, hold the roll.
Fix this cookie, then we're going to go.

[chorus vocalizing]

Okay, we are giving you a very generous
45 minutes on this challenge.

-So...
-[Jacques imitating Nicole] Go!

[Nicole] Please be careful.
Don't break those cookies.

[Alicia] Oh, schnick!

[Joe] Oh! Here we go.

[Alicia] Breaking stuff already.

[Jacques] Those are not just cookies.

They're toys that move,
with proportion and design.

First, they will start by making
the cookie dough,

bringing sugar, honey
and spices to a boil.

Then adding flour until the dough
starts to form.

And then roll it out
in a lightly floured surface

Next, they will need to cut out
all of the pieces that they will assemble like a puzzle
once they are baked.

They'll use a combination of royal icing
and cocoa butter

to paint the design onto their cookies.

They will assemble all
of the cookie's pieces to form the toy.

And voilà.

Seems like a lot of instructions.

I zoned out halfway through that.

[Joe] It's just a cookie.
That should be easy to make.

But, hey, the recipe...

For some reason, I'm looking at the words

but I... I just can't put them together.

Words like "whisk the butter,"
and I'm like,

"What does whisk the butter mean?"

The butter is what's gonna give
that cream.

I like that cream.

It looks like Joe

is making... a very big mess.

[Jacques] Oh, my God.

For this dough, you must boil
the wet ingredients first.

Then add them to the flour.

Otherwise, your dough mixture
will be lumpy and dry.

I don't see any measuring cups.

[Ron] I don't see any
general tools of baking at all.

[Jill] That's a fidget spinner.

Honey. "Heat sugar, honey
and spices."

Okay. I feel like it's a really good omen

to get a toy that I've confiscated
day after day

and that I have a collection of at home,

but there's no cookie cutter
to make that shape.

So I'm going to give it my best try.

This is definitely
like a science experiment.

"Work the dough until it is smooth,
then roll the dough out."

"Cut it into various pieces."

I think it'll make a cookie.

I need a body. Bad.

You've got your dough done,
you're cutting out shapes.

So you're very organized, it seems,
over here.

-Is that via the military?
-I... I tested to the military.

I think they gave us a really great
foundation in how to

adapt, overcome and do things

in a way that is regimental.

I don't think I'd fare well
in the military.

For some reason, it's not getting hard.
I don't understand why.

Oh, my God, his dough.
His dough is so dry.

-Joe!
-Yeah, it looks good, doesn't it?

Are you gonna cut crumbs?
You sure you put butter and egg in there?

I actually put two things of butter
in there for you.

-Oh.
-Yeah, just extra credit.

If I can figure out
how to make it harder...

-My friend, Joe.
-...it'll be wonderful.

[Joe] My mindset for Nailed It! is

reflect on the fun, Joe.

I hadn't been out in a while
because I have

Stage 4 chronic kidney disease.

Currently going through the process
of trying to find a living donor.

This is an environment
where I can just have fun.

I think somebody is playing
with the door.

Who would be playing with the door
of a refrigerator?

-It... It won't open! Oh, okay.
-[Nicole and Ron laughing]

So, I'm trying to make the rings
that go around...

the rings.

The rings that go around the rings

Feet, body, arms.

I got pigtails!

I think I actually might be okay.

Oh, he threw the sand away.

I'm just gonna... just put that away
like it never happened.

-And now we're focused.
-Starting over?

He might not have enough time.

-[Nicole] No.
-I'm not sure.

Alright, we're going to put this thing
in the oven.

[Alicia] That looks great.

This time around, I'm really trying
to read the instructions.

Mixing the egg completely.

Now we're rolling.
Start mixing now.

Oh, that's good dough right there

Joe has a dough.

All right. Got 17 minutes.

The consistency of the mix is a lot closer
to the instructions.

So the confidence starts to come back.

-All right.
-Less than half of the time now.

[Nicole] How much time do these cookies
got to bake?

Six minutes? Seven minutes?
Eight minutes? Ten?

Twenty? Thirty-two? How many minutes?

Let's say ten minutes.

Okay. That's not that bad.
I think he can do it.

No.

[Jill] That's supposed to be royal icing
but it seems really thick.

The icing on the cookie calls for

royal icing mix with powdered sugar
and water.

It is way too clumpy and...

gross!

[Jacques] Oh, no. Jill needs to thin out
that icing.

Trying to make sure
there's enough water in it.

Ooh, that might have been a lot.

-Hey, Jill, how's it going over there?
-Aah!

Oh, no!

[Joe] So, I'm looking for, uh, color.

Paint you, paint you white

so we can get you pink.

There we go.

Oh, boy. Three minutes remain!

It's taking... it's taking the cookies
a little bit longer to cook

than, uh, I expected.

So right now I'm making a backup,
just in case.

Sometimes, in manufacturing,
you have to use replacement parts.

I have the Rice Krispies to fall back on.

So, we're just going to leave that there,

just so we can make sure
we have a finished product.

A Rice Krispies helicopter
is really not a cookie. Would he be penalized for that?
Because I would.

[Jacques] You're the judge, you decide.

[Ron gasps] I get...
I forgot I'm the judge!

-[Jacques] You decide what you want to do.
-[Nicole] Yeah.

I'm penalizing him.

What if I just... dip it in there?

Oh.

That doesn't look good.

Looks like Jill's using a lot of frosting.

I think she's frosting over her mistakes.

I tried to do that in a few relationships.

It does not work.

I'm trying to make this so good
that my students would be like,

"Yeah, I know exactly what that is."

This thing does not really look
like a fidget spinner.

Your cookies should be cooled and...

-on your stands...
-And moving.

...and moving.

You should be able to move them.

[Joe] We're good.
I feel good about time.

[Alicia] Color... Where's your other arm?
Oh, my God. Oh, there it is.

[Jacques] This is an intricate state,
and Alicia doesn't have much time. [Alicia] I do not understand
how this thing can stick.

Chocolate and cold spray.

That would be the solution.

[Alicia]
Where's that aerosol sticky stuff?

[Alicia] Aah!

[Ron] Oh! Cookie down!

Cookie down!

Oh, my God. It's, like, so ruined.

-[Jill] It looks so good!
-You lie!

[Nicole] Forty-five seconds!

Forty-five seconds! Forty-five seconds!

Oh, Lord, I don't think
this is gonna work.

All right, I think this is as good
as it's gonna get today.

[Joe] So we have the cookie. We're just
gonna put it on the landing pad here.

My cookie does not look cooked.

It looks like cardboard.

[Nicole] Ten, nine,

eight, seven, six,

five, four, three,

two, one! You're done!

[enunciating] This will be fun.

Aw, this is ugly.

Alicia, you are first.

So, this is the toy cookie
you were trying to make,

and let's see what you actually made.

[Alicia] Nailed it!

Oh, no.

Oh, Lord.

Does she work?

[Alicia] The sticks didn't stick
with the little pieces,

so the arms fell off.

-Can you spin it around?
-Yeah, check it out!

[laughs]

-[Nicole] Okay. Oh, no.
-[Alicia] No!

[Nicole]
Oh. She said, "That spin was too hard,

I'll take a nap."

[Ron] It's terrifying.

A lot... a lot of buildup work in there,
a lot of fun colors.

Uh, overall though, it... it does
cause me nightmares.

She's like sweating gold, kind of.

[Jacques] I think your icing was too warm
when you put it on.

That's why it's runny.

You had a problem to make
the support hold on the back,

and you're supposed to do that
with chocolates and cold spray.

So you put a little bit of melted
chocolate, cold spray right away.

And it comes hard instantly,
everything will hold very well.

So when you build something like that,

just remember that.
Chocolates, cold spray. Done.

Oh, boy, let's taste this cookie.

Go for it.

Oh.

[Jacques] I'm going to stay
with this little piece here.

[Ron] Can't judge a book by it's cover.

As terrifying as it looks,

it's just as delicious.

Baked through, so it's actually
falling apart in your mouth.

-The cookie is good.
-Got a really nice flavor.

I liked it so much!
She was tasty!

All right. We got to move on
and see more cookies.

Thank you.

Alright, Joe. You're up.

Let's take a look at the 3D toy cookie
you were trying to make.

And let's see what you actually made!

[Joe] Nailed it!

-[Nicole grunts]
-[Jacques chuckles]

Joe!

This is the most confusing thing
I've ever looked at.

[Ron] So 3D, it looks like it's landing.

It actually... I mean, it spins, right?

[Nicole] Oh.

It looks like several pieces
of moldy bread

that are just hanging out together.

-Oh, boy. Jacques, what do you think?
-Nothing.

He's speechless.

Yeah. So, this is the actual cookie
right there.

-Why is it--
-That's the part I'm gonna avoid the most.

-[Nicole] It's gooey.
-[Joe] Is it?

That's not how a cookie's supposed to be.

-Okay.
-[Jacques] He's surprised it's gooey.

So what does that mean?
What's inside?

Oh, that's the butter, probably.

[shouts]

-[Joe] Yeah, enjoy that.
-I'm in.

Good?

-[guffaws]
-Don't swallow.

-There's consistency, isn't there?
-The consistency of that was insanity.

What is gooey inside the cookie?
What happened?

-[Nicole] What is this goo?
-How is it dry and wet?

[Nicole] Yes!

-[Joe] You know, I was--
-[Nicole] What is so sticky?

I was going for a dry/wet contrast,
you know, the difference.

You did that on purpose?

You got that doll as a child!

[man's screaming]

[laughter]

[Nicole] And you...
you're doing evil things now.

Jacques, how did that happen?

-Look, I've baked for many years...
-Yes.

...and I see a lot of cookies.

I saw a lot of recipes and I see
a lot of things happening in kitchens.

-I never taste something like that.
-[Nicole] It's wild!

[Ron] You have that for you: uniqueness.

The cookie was horrible.

Uh, the Rice Krispies treats
which I thought could not be messed up,

somehow is... uh...

It's...

It's truly a conundrum.

You'll remember it. That's the key.

-I definitely will remember it.
-Yes. [laughs]

All right, now.

Just buy cookies.
Don't make cookies.

Jill, it's your turn.

Let's take a look at the 3D cookie
you were trying to make.

And let's see what you made!

[Jill] Nailed it!

Hey!

Yeah!

This, to me, looks like
a fidget spinner!

Does it spin?

-It did, a little bit.
-Okay.

I think it looks really great.

I do think that the icing
is a little runny.

I think this is the closest look
that we've gotten so far.

It looks like a toy.

The colors are here,
the shape is there.

The pieces are there.

Um, I'm anxious to try it. -Thank you.
-[Nicole] All right, Jill.

Now it's time for a taste.

Oh, we each get a little part
of the fidget.

Uh-oh. [chuckles]

I think this is the first time I've seen
on this show

where it actually looked better
than in tasted.

It's a bit difficult to taste,
and I'll tell you why.

There's so much royal icing on top,

we lost a bit of flavor
because it's so sweet

and so wet on top.

The taste, for me, wasn't there.

I do think it needed
a little bit more spice.

For me, the icing was a little bitter,
or maybe it had too much food coloring.

It wasn't very sweet.

Definitely better than some cookies
I've eaten today.

That's for sure.

[man's screaming] -[Nicole] Don't look around.
-Don't look at me.

Bakers and toy makers,

come on down for your judgment.

[Alicia] Oh, my God.

[Nicole] Jacques, please tell them

who had the best 3D toy cookie.

[Jacques] And the winner is...

Jill!

-Congratulations!
-[Nicole] Yay!

Your cookie was a little bit too wet,

but I have to say that the look
was very resemblant

and it was moving!

So this is the reason why you win.

[Nicole] Ron, can you please tell Jill
what she's won?

Jill, you're gonna be
everyone's best friend

with your new ten-piece baking set!

[Nicole] Ooh!

Yes, and of course, the winner gets
the coolest toy of all.

The golden Nailed It! baker's cap!

-Here you go. Congratulations!
-Thank you. Yay!

[Jacques] Okay, bakers.
Let's go to round number two.

-Jacques, hold my hand!
-Yes, Nicole!

Let's skip!

I can skip!

Ooh, Ron, why don't you tell them
about the next challenge?

Oh, I'd love to, Nicole.

[robotic voice]
You will be the envy of all nerds

when you make this...

A toy robot cake!

[robotic voice] That's radical.

[Nicole] This Christmas toy is made
from four layers of sweet red velvet cake,

wrapped in metallic fondant

with fondant buttons and knobs.

I'm so excited!

[Nicole] His head and legs are sculpted
from Rice Krispies Treats

and his little robot feet are made
of cake.

[in a robotic voice]
I foresee a malfunction. Aah!

-Jacques, what do you think?
-It's very challenging.

You too will have to figure out
how to give your robot cake

glowing eyes.

But if you panic,

hit the panic button on your station

and I will be here to help you
for three minutes.

And Joe, your station has
the "Nicole Nags" button.

[robotic voice] I have to be annoying.

Just tap that button,
and for three minutes

I will come out and distract
both of your opponents

and you, my friend,
can keep baking in peace.

Red velvet is my wife's favorite.
So I'm on it.

-Aww!
-So pick up one on the way home.

Yeah, I'll pick up one on my way home.

Don't forget, make the best robot cake,

and walk out of here with 10 grand! Whoo.

Baby, it's simple as that!

Wait, no, it's not.
You only have 75 minutes.

Oh-hoo! You better get going.

Let's go sit.

I'm trying to make sure that I read
the instructions this time.

-[Alicia] Girl, you better get some pans.
-I am!

[chuckles]

Jacques, how would you go about
doing that robot cake?

Okay, so the first thing is,
very carefully, bake the cake.

Mix the wet and dry ingredients together,

then pour it into the cake pan
and bake it until nice and golden brown.

While they're waiting
for their cake to bake,

they will want to start creating
the details.

The entire head and neck of this robot
is made of Rice Krispies.

So they will need to sculpt it
and then cover it in fondant.

They would also need to be sure
and leave room for the robot eyes,

which are little LED lights.

Then they'll paint it with metallic paints
to bring the little robot to life.

With the Rice Krispies, it gives Joe
kind of a little bit of a leg up.

Because he's proved that he can make
Rice Krispies treats.

"One container of dry cake mix. Two eggs."

I'm terrified.
This cake does not look easy

and I can't even make a cookie right.

"Two eggs, one cup of melted... butter."

But I kind of live by
the Marine Corps motto:

Adapt and overcome.

No shell!

So I hope that my cake looks better
than my cookie.

Shake, shake, shake it
for ten thousand dollars.

Come on.

I'm just mixing the, uh, food coloring.

I learn from my mistakes
pretty quickly.

You know, taking my time,
paying attention to the instructions.

My mindset is, "Joe, you did awful.

Accept it and move forward."

Oh, oh.

Now I got to focus
on getting the cakes in the oven.

Mix this, lock, load.

I gotta measure that cake over there.

Going into the second part
of the competition,

my plan of attack is,

make sure that I have a cake
that actually stands,

that has the right number of layers,

And I really need to work hard
at making it taste good.

Let's see.

Tastes like unbaked cake.

Getting the cakes done.

Feel like I need more.

[Jacques] I don't think Joe made
enough batter for those pans.

-Maybe we'll get a little mini robot.
-Get a smaller robot.

[Ron]
Yeah, we'll get a little action figure.

[Nicole] Maybe!

[Joe] So just we... trying to get this
into the right pan.

I think what's happening is he's scraping
out what he put in the pans

into smaller pans.

Maybe he thinks
that's how you make more batter.

It's looking pretty good now.

Get these in the oven.

Those cakes are gonna cook really fast
with that small amount of batter.

I... Hmm. I can't wait.

In we go, ladies. In we go.

[Jill] Into the oven.

Fifty minutes left!

Start working on the fondant.

While the cakes are cooking.

I'm working on the the details,
on the buttons.

[groans]

-Perfect!
-What are you making?

A Rice Krispies Treat head.

Ah, cool! All right.

[Jill] So, I'm trying to make each piece
of the robot's sides

and just, like, roll out some good pieces.

Seven inches, I guess,
is what we're looking for.

Do you have any toys f...
from your childhood?

I have a stuffed mouse who wears a dress,
and her name is Mousie Mouse.

[Ron] Aw!

-So funny.
-She's in my closet.

Because I don't want her on my bed.
That'd be so weird.

Yeah, a little weird.

You know, bring a dude home, you're like,
"Just move Mousie Mouse over."

-"Mousie Mouse stays!"
-Ha-ha!

[Alicia] That's gonna have to do, folks.

Hot cake! Hot cake!

I'm cool. I'm not freaking out.

And I just feel like my brain says,
"Alicia, we're meant to be here."

[Jill] Put in the fridge.

Hot stuff coming through!
Hot stuff!

[Jacques] Why hasn't Joe taken those cakes
out of the oven yet?

Those cakes are baked.

[Joe] Cakes coming out.

For some reason, it's hard.

I don't understand why.

-You leave it too long in the oven!
-Yeah, I think it's done.

[Joe sighs]

I am putting some weird silver
highlighter into a bucket.

Hoping I'm going to make some paint.

Ooh, magic! [Joe] Just trying to work
on the extremities.

[Jill, softly] One, two, three, four,
five, six, seven.

Okay, I'm cutting my fondant,
so that it's the right measurement.

I'm gonna get it just right.

I am very methodical in my baking.

I feel like I have to keep counting,

because I can't keep track
of where I'm at.

The measurements need to be very exact.

Two, three, four, five, six, seven. Oh.

[Nicole]
Has Jill made any of her robot parts yet?

[Jacques]
It's important to concentrate on the head,

the neck, the leg, the feet and the arms.

If she doesn't start soon,
she won't have a robot.

One, two, three, four.
I need one for the top.

I'm gonna get my cakes
and see how it goes.

Twenty minutes, guys!

I think I want to push it right now
to get myself a little bit more time

to focus more on, kind of,
the detail of the robot.

Nicole!

I gotta go! I gotta go be annoying!

Oh, no.

[robotic voice] I have to be annoying.

Oh, that is fun.

[funny flute sound]

I got yelled at for a long time
by drill instructors.

I'm not gonna let Nicole nag at me.

I... Oh! [chuckles]

I'm not good at this.

[Jacques] Alicia better get her cake
out of the freezer.

[funny flute sound]

Hi, Nicole.

Nicole comes by with a flute.

She's playing it in my face
and I'm thinking,

that is what happens in my classroom
all the time.

That's like every day
in elementary school.

I like the distraction.

But the thing is, it actually kind of
affects me too.

Nicole, come back!

She's very effective. [laughs]

That was so hard!

Let's check my cakes.

Please be done, please!

Yeah!

I think I got two cakes.

I thought these things would come out! [Ron] Oh, no. Alicia is freaking.

Oh, no, wait. Did I overchill it?
Is that a thing?

Can you actually overchill a cake?

Oh, goodness, God.

I think I overchilled the cake.

Well, I'll take them out.
Get them out, get them out!

I'm frustrated.
I left my cakes in the blast chiller.

And I'm freaking out.
I don't know what to do.

Ooh, this is not going to work.

I just keep thinking: Adapt, overcome.
Adapt, overcome.

What would I do in any other situation?

We're just going to build a cake...

on...

some Rice Krispies.

Oh, Lord, save me now.

Oh, my.

Look at Alicia's cake.

[Alicia] I think this might actually work.

[Jill] Spread it so carefully,
so it doesn't fall apart.

[laughs]

I don't even know about, like, you know,
after the fondant goes on.

[Joe] We're making good progress.

Oh, Joe.

-Those are some bricks!
-[Nicole] Yeah. Ooh, them bricks.

There's, like, no flop to it.

-They look like bricks.
-[Jacques] It's like a brick.

Eight minutes, guys.
You should be decorating.

You know, the "ushe."

At this point, I've kind of given up
on making it look nice.

I'm just trying to get
the last pieces here.

I realized that I spent maybe too much
time constructing the cake,

making it look just right,

and that I don't have enough time left
to decorate really well.

Ha-ha!

I don't know about this.

So, right now, I'm working
to get the fondant...

over the cakes.

It's a little short...

but we'll figure that out.

Oh, silver paint, you...

Oh, no, my antennas! They are falling.

Falling faster, faster...

Even though I don't have a perfect cake,
I'm having a blast.

I'm cool, I'm not sweating.

I'm not freaking out and I just feel
like... this is my time.

Two minutes left, you guys.
Dos.

[Jill] I'm just trying to stick
some feet on at the last second.

Trying to get my lights
to come on right now.

[singsongy] Fondant, you're not my friend.

No, you're not.

You better get your cakes done!

I wanna see little 'bots.

Five, four, three, two, one. You're done!

Oh, boy. What a treat.

Okay, Alicia.

Let's take a look at the toy robot cake
you were trying to make,

and let's see what you made.

Nailed it!

Oh, no!

He melted. You got too close to the fire.

Wow. It's silver!

Um, it looks like a robot that maybe fell
into a trash compactor a little bit.

Or perhaps some type
of old-timey cash register.

-You made it. You made a robot.
-I... I made a cake.

Great. How does that make you feel?

Like I won a million dollars, 'cause...

It's not pretty,
but I'm just really proud of it.

[sniffling]

Oh.

-Sorry.
-[Nicole] No, it's okay.

You should feel very proud!
You never made a robot cake before.

That's amazing! You should feel so good.

What's going on?

What's happening?
Why are you tearing up?

Because I was in a really dark,
ugly place.

I got my independence taken away from me.

So I was no longer allowed to cook
or bake or use a kitchen.

And when Nailed It! first premiered,

the first time I belly-laughed

in seven months was watching
you two banter back and forth,

and build people up
who didn't know how to cook.

Oh, look at us. Inspiring people!

So Nailed It! is the greatest experience
I could ever have

because I no longer feel
that I can't do it.

Do you want a hug?

-Sure.
-Okay.

-Thanks.
-You're welcome.

Okay, you're perfect, you're wonderful.

You got a good haircut.

All right, we got to move on.

Joe.

Joe, Joe.

Let's see what you did!

Nailed it!

That was a real nice trick!

When it hit down,
the eye lit up.

[Ron] It did? Oh, cool.

[laughter]

[Nicole] Your cake also got a little
too close to the sun, a little melty.

I can see those cakes are dry.

They... There were so much paint.

And then when you take them,
they look like, uh, a toast!

Right. That's why we had to add
some more layers.

Why do we have the, uh, pearl necklace?

Yeah, so I saw the buttons
on the front of it

and I felt like going more of like
a necklace-type scenario.

I like his pearl neck... [laughter]

[Ron] Uh, he's seen better days.
That's for sure.

[Nicole] I can't wait to taste your cake.

-Thank you.
-Goodbye, Joe.

Jill.

-Let's see what you made!
-All right.

-[Jacques] Yes!
-[Nicole] Yeah!

[Nicole] Okay, he's got the happiest face
I've ever seen.

He looks good.

It's pretty square.

So that's not easy to do.

But you spent so much time
making the cake square...

that you forgot about all of the detail.

I hate it.

I'll tell you why.

It's friendly in a way that means
I don't trust it.

You just hurt his feelings.

Now it says it has feelings?

If it's trying to learn,
it's trying to take over.

You did a good job,
perhaps too good,

and now it's got to be destroyed.

Please slice us the best piece
of your robot cake and we'll eat them.

It will be fun.

I'm excited.

Let's go.

[Alicia] I have done something
that I never thought I would ever do again

and while it might not be pretty,
I hope it tastes... awesome.

Alicia, this one is yours.

Let's taste it.

[Jacques] Alicia, the cake is good.
It's moist.

It would be better to see more layer.

But you know what?
The cake is good.

-I love your cake.
-Thank you.

Perfect! I get a lot of Krispies Treat,
a little bit of cake, some frosting.

-I'm into it.
-Thank you.

I liked your cake too.
I do wish there was more cake.

I wish it was a bigger slice of cake.

-NevertheIess, it was really nice!
-Thank you.

All right, Joe.

I can't wait to taste this.

[laughter]

-[Ron] We all get a piece!
-[Jacques] Okay.

In our profession,
when the cake sounds like that...

it's not good.

-Your cake made noise!
-Yeah.

It's dry, but it doesn't taste bad.

I never had red velvet cornbread before!

Definitely not cake!

-Yeah.
-I like it.

I like this crunchy cake
and I'm not kidding.

Oh, boy. Jill, it's your turn.

Let's eat this robot!

[Jacques] It's very moist.

What I really like about your cake is that

you put only one layer
of Rice Krispies Treats.

So that's good.
And you have the height.

This is well put together.

-[Nicole] Ron?
-Cake's beautiful.

Frosting is beautiful to me.
Job well done.

Jill, I liked your cake.
I thought it was really moist.

Truly, thank you!

Okay, the time is arrived
to announce the winner.

Someone's gonna get $10,000

and the Nailed It! trophy.

Wes!

[laughter]

[Nicole cackles]

[Nicole laughing hysterically]

-Watching Wes--
-[Ron] And he still has to work!

[laughter]

[Ron] A robot's job is never done.

-Jacques, will you please do the honors?
-Yes.

And the winner is...

The winner is Jill!

[Nicole] Yay!

Ah, yeah!

This experience has inspired me.

I just want to do great things,
be around great people. Like, Joe is such a wonderful guy,
and Alicia.

We had so much fun talking about
what we were trying for.

So I think we all got along
really well together.

I nailed it! [laughs]

That's all for Nailed It!,
the gift that keeps on giving!

Please come closer, closer, closer. SDH created by: Chiranjib Sahoo
