Nailed It! (2018–…): Season 5, Episode 3 - We're Gonna Need a Bigger Cake - full transcript

Baking duos go off the deep end with desserts inspired by the wonders of the ocean, including marine animal mini cakes and enormous edible octopuses.

[theme music playing]

Ooh! Something smells a little fishy.
Could it be Nailed It!?

-[bell dings]
-Yes! It is!

Join us as we whiff the salty scent
of America's favorite baking competition,

where the cakes start out swimmingly
but end up getting sunk.

I'm your captain and host, Nicole Byer.

You know, we've been watching
you try our challenges at home

with your friends and family,

and we thought, "Why not bring them down
to sunny Burbank and do it here for real?"

So, this season, it is double trouble
when we turn this into a team competition.

Today, three teams of siblings
try to recreate professional desserts

that are all about the life in the ocean.

-At stake, the chance to net $10,000.
-[both cheering]

Let's meet the teams!

-Teams ahoy!
-[horn blowing]

[laughs hysterically]

-I'm Harry.
-And I'm Heather.

[both] We're twins.

This is school pictures at least
from first grade to...

To forever. Just do it.

[camera clicks]

[Harry] We are pretty much
an unstoppable team.

Twin power. I think
it's gonna be an advantage for us.

[both humming]

-I'm Lizzy.
-I'm Cameron. We're siblings.

[Lizzy] We started baking
when I was ten and Cameron was...

You were like my sous-chef.

-You were an assistant.
-In a way, that's generous.

Lizzy is kind of an unstoppable force.

I'm here to kind of facilitate
her baking prowess.

-You have lots of talents, Cameron.
-Thank you.

They're gonna all shine.

-I'm Jenna.
-I'm Brooke.

We're sisters.

[Brooke] Growing up,
we have not always been close.

Honestly, I thought about whether having
her here is gonna be an advantage or not.

-I'm sorry.
-Wow.

[Brooke] But we know I'm gonna lead,

-and she's gonna listen to me.
-Yeah.

-We are competitive. We wanna win.
-Yeah. I think we're gonna be fine.

[cricket chirping]

[Nicole] Ahoy, bakers.

Please give a warm welcome
to the pearl in our Nailed It! oyster,

professional pastry chef
and chocolatier Jacques Torres!

-[applauding]
-Hi, Jacques!

[Jacques] Hello, teams!

I think that being a team
is really a big advantage

because 45 minutes
become an hour and a half.

[Jenna] Because there's two of us,
this is gonna be...

Crazier cakes. I just hope
we have enough time.

It should be no excuses for a bad cake.
So, go and have a whale of a time.

-[whale sings]
-[all laughing]

Well, I'm sure they will
because I'm bored with...

-They "whale."
-[whale sings]

-[all laughing]
-[Nicole] Yes, Jacques. Whale!

Because joining us on board

is actor, comedian,
producer, a friend of mine.

-Ooh, it's Lil Rel Howery!
-[chuckles]

[all cheering, applauding]

I wanna hear you say "whale"
one more time.

-Whale!
-[all laughing]

"Whale." Okay, let's pull up our anchors
for this Baker's Choice challenge.

We cast our net
far and wide for inspiration.

Today, you'll be swimming alongside these...

[all gasp]

[Nicole] ...mini marine animal cakes!

Each team must create a trio of mini cakes
chosen from the sea creature buffet.

-Okay.
-Wow.

[Nicole] We got a crab, a shark,
and a blowfish.

There's a turtle,
there's a whale, there's a seahorse.

And finally, the clam,
the stingray, and the angelfish.

[waves crashing]

All right, Brooke and Jenna. You guys
look like you wanna jump off the deep end.

So, which mini marine animal cake
have you picked?

-We pick the hermit crabs.
-Are they hermit crabs or just crabs?

-Maybe they're crabs?
-I don't know.

Heather and Harry, what have you picked?

The turtles.

-[Heather] And a seahorse maybe?
-[Nicole] Okay.

That leaves Lizzy and Cameron.
You get what's left.

Okay, bakers. You only have 45 minutes.

-And it started now!
-[Klaxon buzzes]

[Lizzy] Oh! [squeals, giggles]

They look very excited.

-[Cameron] You choose.
-You make the cake.

-I'll make the butter.
-Okay.

[Brooke] I'll do dry. You do wet.

Okay, two cups of milk.

-[Heather] I'm getting the ingredients.
-[Harry] I'mma be cracking eggs.

Ah! I shall not have shells.

Jacques, how would you anchor
these sea creatures into cake form?

Two bakers.
So, they really have to divide the work.

One should start with the cake.
The other one should do the buttercream.

Then they should start the decoration.

When the cake is ready,
one of them should cut the cake,

stack the cake, and finally, together,
they should cover them with fondant

and finish all the little details
for the trio of beautiful marine animals.

[Rel] I don't like cooking with people.

When you by yourself,
you do what you want at your pace.

Yes!

[Jacques laughing]

Watch my whisking, man.

Watch my whisking, man.

Y'all better watch the whisking.

I'll man the mixer, and she'll be,
like, the instruction person.

Two teaspoons.

I think, if we follow the instructions,
it should come out how it's supposed to.

Teaspoons!

-[Harry] Two tea...
-[Heather] Not table.

We started baking
because we wanted to start...

-Our own little tradition.
-Our own traditions.

Yeah, especially
with Jackson getting here.

Jackson is my son.

And he is my entire world.

Are we trying to win for Jackson?
Heck yeah.

-Definitely.
-[Heather] Yes.

That's about it. Don't want it to stick.

[Heather] Sounds like
you're doing too much.

[Harry] Heather, I'm just saying.

[Lizzy] Cameron, we're gonna have
so much buttercream.

-Good! We need lots of buttercream.
-[Lizzy] This is a lot of buttercream.

-So, I'm working on the buttercream.
-Mm-hmm.

Cameron's making the cake.

-[Lizzy] Pour this out.
-[Cameron chuckling] The lid is on, Lizzy!

[Lizzy] There's three cakes,
but we have four hands combined.

So maybe that will be an advantage.

You're doing great.

-That should be enough.
-You're a star, and you're gonna shine.

I wanna bring some nice representation
for, like, the mediocre gays.

We can't really bake...

-[chuckles]
-...and we look like this.

But we could still win
$10,000 on television.

Look at all this.

Nicole, Cameron over there,
he just dumped everything into the bowl.

-That's not incorporating.
-Yeah.

[Jacques] That's gonna take forever
to mix together.

-We're doing pretty good.
-[laughs]

-[Jenna] I think it's good now.
-[Brooke] Take it out.

-We're the most competitive in our family.
-No one likes us.

-Is this cooking spray?
-Don't use that.

When we do family game night,
no one wants to team up with us.

'Cause we're so mean and competitive.
We always win.

-[chuckles]
-We're the best.

[both chuckle]

-I'm gonna go like this.
-Okay.

-Oh my God, wait! That's way too much!
-[Brooke laughs]

There's absolutely no way the cakes
are gonna get stuck to the pan.

There is so much butter in that pan.

-Wait! Wait! That's too much butter!
-You did that!

[Brooke] Okay, pour.

-Just a little. Don't go crazy.
-[Jenna] Okay. That's good.

-Okay, that's good.
-Yeah.

We're gonna wanna fill it all the way.

-[Jacques] Look how much cake mix...
-Oh boy.

-How many animals they're going to make?
-[Lizzy] Okay, perfect.

[Jacques] That cake
is never going to bake in time.

[Jenna] All right, cakes are in the oven.

[Heather] This gonna have to do.
I'm about to make the buttercream.

Okay. Cool.

-[Harry] Where's the...
-[Heather] I need your muscle, bro.

-[Harry] Hold on!
-[Heather] Harry, I can't!

-Never mind, I don't need you.
-[Harry] You got it?

Twins communicate better.

I need a spatula. Give me a spatula.

-It's up here.
-I need a clean spatula.

They don't even have to talk out loud.
They can talk in each other's head.

-[Harry] Hurry!
-[Heather] You're making me nervous!

-They're so loud.
-[Heather] Four cups powdered sugar.

[Harry] Only thing we need
is one-fourth cup of milk.

[Heather] Don't confuse me. I'm trying
to remember what cup of sugar I'm on.

Look at that.

Oh my God! Why is there lumps in here?

Oh, how many cups of sugar was that?

-I think it was three. I think it's four.
-[Harry] I think it's...

The buttercream is good!
Here, try it. Here, here, it's good.

Help me, I can't get it out!

Wait, wait, wait. So, is buttercream
baking glue in a way?

-It makes everything stick?
-And it makes things moist also.

Has it been a secret?

Until y'all had this show,
I never heard the term buttercream.

-[Nicole] Everyone just calls it frosting.
-[Jacques] Frosting, yes.

Oh! Well, I guess I know today.

Twenty-two minutes guys!
Twenty-two minutes!

We don't accept that.
Jacques, we don't accept that time.

I don't know how we're gonna do this.
We'll just make some stripe.

You got eyeballs?

[Cameron] I made a vaguely circle shape.
Look at this technique!

-Cameron, you're a star!
-[Cameron] We're doing great!

Heather, Harry, how are you guys doing?

We're trying to make sure it looks nice!

[Harry] Even if the turtle
looks like a frog,

it's gonna be the most beautiful
mutant ninja turtle that you ever saw.

-[Rel laughs]
-Ninja turtle.

Little bit of sugar.

I'll roll this out.

Start making the little spikes.

-With the blue.
-[Jenna] Okay.

-This is too small.
-[Brooke] That's really big.

[Jenna] Tell me. Should I make ten?

[Brooke] No, like, a lot!

-[Jenna] Okay.
-[Brooke] Okay, cakes are out.

-[Rel] That cake looks good.
-It does look good.

They should remove it from the mold
before putting it in there.

Then it sticks to the mold,
'cause everything gets cold.

Exactly.

-It's done.
-[Heather] Oh, okay!

[Cameron] That kinda looks good,
but I don't think it's done.

It's not at all done. [chuckles]

Cameron and Lizzy, is your cake
out of the oven or not yet?

[both] Not yet.

We're more behind
than I thought we were gonna be.

I think we made it too big.

-[Cameron] Probably.
-[Lizzy] That's a lot of cake.

It said a half pan. And I guessed
it meant like half of a football field.

Yeah, I think it's gonna be
in the oven for all of eternity.

You know that you have
less than 15 minutes, huh?

-Yeah.
-I do know that, Jacques.

-Thanks.
-Eleven minutes left!

[Heather] Hurry, cover this in fondant.
Let this be the turtle.

Go as fast as you can.

Are you ready to see
if this sticks to the pan?

-Yeah.
-What should I put it on?

Here we go!

-[Brooke] What should I put it on?
-Literally bang it.

Where should we put it?

[Jenna] No.

Is it coming out?

-[Nicole] Oh no!
-Did you see how much butter we put on?

Jacques, you called it.

It doesn't matter because we're
only gonna cut little shapes out of it.

Light bulb.

These things are so tiny, I don't need
this whole thing of cake anyway.

-Look, Jenna!
-[Jenna] Okay, that's good!

It worked.
I got it off the bottom of the pan.

Buttercream, ready?

I'm down
for anything buttercream, though. So...

-What are we gonna do?
-Nothing we can do.

We did a great job,
and then the cake won't bake.

Cameron, Lizzy, what are you guys...
Are you having a debate over there?

-We're having a civil discussion.
-[Nicole] A civil discussion?

About how late we can take
the cake out of the oven.

How diplomatic.

-[Cameron] Take it out.
-We're gonna take it out.

-[Nicole] Oh no.
-The center is not baked.

But the side is.

You guys have four minutes left,
so you gotta do all of your decorating.

-Here. It's a little green ball.
-That's fine.

There you go.

[Heather] What is it?

-Heather, I'm giving you spots.
-[Heather] Okay.

-Ah...
-That's baked. That's baked.

Kinda looks like cornbread.

-[Cameron] I'm frosting. You assemble.
-[Lizzy] Okay.

-[Cameron] It's gonna be a little melty.
-Three minutes remain.

-[Harry] Go!
-[Brooke] All right, pick up the pace.

-Cameron. Look at this.
-What?

It's in a circle. There's cake in it.

This is surprisingly intense,
these last two minutes.

[Heather] He need feet!

-[Jenna] Doing red for crab.
-[Brooke] Finish the shark, Jenna!

[Jenna] That is ugly.

[Cameron] What about his butt rip?

-[Lizzy] No one can see.
-[Cameron] America can.

-A head for the turtle, bro.
-[Harry] Turtle head?

-[Brooke] He has a mouth!
-[laughs]

[Brooke] Put it on! Put it on!

-[Lizzy] Did their eyes fall off?
-The eyes are on, barely.

[judges] Five, four, three, two, one!

-You're done!
-[alarm blares]

-Good job.
-[Harry] Whoo!

[laughs]

Cameron, Lizzy, these are the mini marine
animal cakes you were trying to make.

Let's see what you did.

-[drumroll]
-[Cameron and Lizzy] Nailed it!

[laughs]

[laughing] I like 'em!

This looks better
than I thought it looked.

[judges laughing]

-I really like the flounder. He's like...
-[all laugh]

Look at the eye.
They have exactly the same eye.

[Rel] They should
have their own cartoon.

-What would the name of that cartoon be?
-Alvin and the Fishmunks.

-I don't know... I don't...
-[all laughing]

Should we taste these bad boys?

All right. I'm excited.

The cake mix run a little bit too long.
You have a little bit of elasticity.

Don't mix it too much. Just mix
the ingredients, put it in a pan.

It tastes pretty good to me.
The buttercream is great.

I've wanted to taste this buttercream
since we've been here.

But I don't know what buttercream
is supposed to taste like.

Ooh, seconds.

I'm not dying,
and I took two scoops of it.

It's a good endorsement.
"I'm not dead. I took two scoops."

-[Rel laughing]
-Yeah.

All right. We're off to taste more cakes!

Harry and Heather.

Let's remember the mini marine
animal cakes you were trying to make.

Let's see what you did.

-[drumroll]
-[both] Nailed it!

Oh boy! Hoo-hoo!

[laughing]

-[Nicole] Oh boy!
-[Heather] You're welcome.

They're like
three damaged grocery store rides.

-[laughs]
-[Rel] Those rides for the kids

in front of the grocery store. [laughs]

-That means they got a lot of love.
-I can see an elephant and two frogs!

-[laughing] That's what I can see.
-[Rel laughs]

It's a thousand times
better than it looks.

-Probably is tasty.
-[Nicole] Let's dig in. Let's taste it.

-[Jacques] Let's do it.
-Thank you.

-Huh.
-I know that sound.

[Nicole] Oh.

-[both laugh]
-[Nicole] Huh!

[clicking tongue] Huh.

My God, this buttercream is sweet!
How much sugar did you put in there?

We followed the directions.

Okay, the buttercream is very, very,
very, very, very, very, very, very...

-Very sweet.
-Oh my God.

-He's going...
-[Jacques] He keeps eating!

[all laughing]

Based on how it looked,
I thought this was gonna be

one of the worst things
I've ever eaten in my life.

But it's better than I thought
it was gonna be, guys.

-Appreciate that.
-Thanks. We'll take that.

Well, we got some more cakes to see.

Let's do it!

Brooke and Jenna.

Let's remember the mini marine
animal cakes you were trying to make.

And let's see what you did.

[drumroll]

[Brooke and Jenna] Nailed it!

-[Rel] Ah.
-I mean... [laughs]

I like them!

They're weird, but they're cute.

-I love the crab that has the peace sign.
-[all laugh]

You know? He's like, "Hey, peace!"

[Nicole] We got a ghost in the back.

-[all laughing]
-We do!

That's a new Halloween costume.
"Who are you?" "I'm a ghost fish."

-[all laughing]
-[Nicole] That's a ghost fish!

All right, Jacques.

Oh, right between the eyes, Jacques.

-[Rel] So dark.
-[Jacques] Yeah, go for it.

-Thank you so much.
-[Jacques] Here, Nicole.

The cake is well-baked.
The buttercream is still a bit sweet.

But, overall, it's a pretty good cake.

Yeah. I think your buttercream
is very thick. But I liked it!

-Good!
-[Jenna] Thanks!

The buttercream, I don't know if this is
a real description, it tastes smooth.

Thick and smooth. That's my nickname.

-[laughs]
-So...

We have to decide who won this round.

Let's go!

That way, Rel!

Go!

All right, bakers.

Jacques, which team sunk and dunked
this first challenge like a pro?

Well, one team did an outstanding job.
And that team is...

Brooke and Jenna.

-[Brooke] We won! Oh my God!
-[all applauding]

Congratulations!
Rel, tell 'em what they've won!

Sailing them from across the ocean blue
is this beautiful blue stand mixer.

-Wow! Cool!
-[Jacques] Wow.

-[Jenna] Yay!
-Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!

You also get the amazing
Nailed It! golden baker's hat!

So please go get them yourselves.
I'm not doing the work anymore.

[Jenna and Brooke chuckling]

-[Nicole] That's cute.
-[Jacques chuckling]

Okay, it is time for round two.

So, set your eyes on door number two!

Bakers batten all the hatches.

In this next challenge, we will find out
which team has an inkling

about which duo is out of their depth.

Now, we know you got four hands.
But you gonna wish you had eight hands.

Check this out!

Wow!

[Nicole] An enormous octopus cake!

How in the world?

-It doesn't look like cake.
-[Rel chuckles]

[Jacques] This enormous octopus
is made of four layers

of dark chocolate and sea salt cake

with a rice cereal treats head.

Oh my God.

[Jacques] Pancake batter
and isomalt techniques

are used to create the coral landscape,

and modeling chocolate provide
the finish decorative touches.

Wow.

Also, Harry and Heather.

My oh my,
with your little dollar-bin fish.

We decided that
we're gonna throw you a life preserver,

and you get a thumb war button!

When you hit that button,
your opposing teams

have to stop what they're doing
for three whole minutes

and engage in a battle as old as the sea.

A thumb war!

-I'm ready.
-[Nicole] Okay, bakers.

There is a $10,000 booty up for grabs!

-Please start now.
-[Klaxon buzzes]

[Cameron] Let's do it, Lizzy.

One cup of black cocoa powder.

Chocolate extract and sea salt.

Cake mix.

I'm about to be
real judge-y on these cakes.

[chuckles]

'Cause chocolate cake
I'm very particular about.

So, Jacques, how would you go about
making this enormous octopus cake?

[Jacques] First,
they need to get their sea salt

and dark chocolate cake into the oven.

Then they will make their buttercream
and create their colorful coral pieces.

Next, they will form their octopus head
and finally stack and cover the cakes

and add all the little details
to their stunning octopus treats.

I think the result is actually
a good team going to be not one person.

Look at this cake. It's a lot of work.

We make the cake first.

Teamwork does make the dream work.
That's why we both making the cake.

Instead of divide and conquer
for round two,

we need to come together
and conquer tasks.

-Sweet, eh? Oh.
-It is. A little bit more salt.

[Heather] We have to come back

better than the first round
because that was trash.

-Oh! Tragic!
-We have to do better.

-For Jackson.
-[Heather] Definitely for Jackson.

Definitely for Jackson.

[Heather] I need more.

[whispering] We're adding
chocolate sandwich cookies.

Harry, did you put
chocolate sandwich cookies in your batter?

I don't know what you talking about.

Who does not like chocolate cookies?

Who doesn't like chocolate cake?

-[both] You put them together.
-That's it. Yeah.

-We gotta put these cakes in the oven.
-I got you.

[Heather] I don't know
what the cuss you doing, bro.

[laughs]

-Faster on the cakes.
-Okay, I'm going.

-One cup black cocoa powder.
-[Jenna] Oh my God, that's too much!

We've realized we actually work
really good together

rather than me giving her things to do,
'cause there's not enough time.

There's only enough time
to just get it done.

-Let's pick up the pace.
-[Jenna] I know. I'm trying.

-I wanna be first cakes in the oven.
-We have to grab the pans from the back.

But there's no round ones back there.

I think they're back here.
Are they back here?

-[grunts] Where are the round...
-You have to find them.

[Jenna] I can't find them!
Are they back here?

Oh, okay. I literally got so many.

-It tastes good!
-Okay.

Brooke and Jenna,
how y'all doing over there?

[Brooke] We're trying to make sure
our cakes don't stick this time.

-[Rel] Oh, that's good.
-Smart.

Cakes in the oven.

-Is this ready?
-That's ready.

-This ready?
-[Cameron] Dark chocolate?

-Black cocoa powder.
-[Lizzy] Yeah.

For this next round, we definitely...

-We need to not dillydally.
-Yeah.

We need to wash this.

There's so many elements going on here.

We need to get the cakes
so we can set it, forget it, move on.

-That looks mixed.
-[Lizzy] That looks like enough?

Yeah, stop it.

-[Lizzy] You sure?
-[Cameron] Yes, stop it!

-[Lizzy chuckling]
-[Cameron] Okay!

Damn, look how thick their batter is.

That looks good.
Let's put them in. Put them in.

-[Lizzy] Okay.
-[Nicole] You guys have an hour left.

Time flies when you're trying
to recreate an octopus.

Child, let me tell you.

[Harry] Who you tellin'?

What do you think
of the buttercream?

-Tastes good.
-Should I make more?

-You want a little bit of salt in it?
-Like a pinch.

[Lizzy] Okay. Sea salt?

-To keep it nautical?
-Yeah.

-Okay.
-Just like a pinch.

Peep, peep, peep.

We're doing better this round, I think.

You did yell at me
a little in the beginning.

Apparently, I'm yelling at her.

-I need to see that footage.
-[laughs]

-Stop it.
-[Lizzy] You sure?

-[Cameron] Yes, stop it!
-[Lizzy chuckling]

[Cameron] Okay!

-No, that's nothing.
-[both laughing]

-[Cameron] We're doing great.
-Okay.

[Jenna] We have to cook the coral.

What's that?
What are you pouring in there?

This is fun stuff.

-Aha. That's what it's called?
-[laughs]

But fun stuff scares me.

I wanted to be a bit
different from the other teams.

And I thought it'd be cute

if we color the buttercream orange
to match the octopus.

We're gonna win.

-That looks good.
-It's cute.

Remake that buttercream.
It's too runny. It needs to mix some more.

-It's not fluffy.
-[Harry] All right.

-[Heather] I'm so aggravated now.
-[Harry] It's okay.

-[Heather] It's too runny.
-Oh!

We're gonna have to use
the buttercream we have.

-Oh, no.
-[sighs]

I feel like Cameron and Lizzy
are working very well together.

My friends Jenna and Brooke,

a little chaotic,
but I think they're getting it done.

But my friends Harry and Heather
are as chaotic as they've ever been.

[Heather] Oh no.

I feel stressed.

Ah! Ah! Harry.

-[laughs]
-[Harry] Hey, don't...

Don't what?

-[Harry] Heather.
-I love it.

I don't know what I'm doing.

[laughs]

Hey, um... This looks almost done.

-Keep a close, close, close, close eye.
-Okay.

We have a plan that whenever they're
about to take their cake out of the oven,

hit the button,
so hopefully, their cake might...

-Overcook or something.
-[Harry] It might not be as moist.

[both laughing]

Heather, Heather, Heather.

[Heather groans]

The thumb war button has been hit!

Hope y'all ain't got no cakes in the oven!

[laughs mockingly]
Hope they don't overbake!

-Psych!
-[Jenna] You guys suck!

[all laughing]

[Heather] Cakes out of the oven.

[Cameron] Right.

[groans] That hurts.

-We gotta make the coral.
-[Harry] All right.

How much more minutes?

[all laughing]

No!

[Heather] I need the water.

I knew she needed this. Twin telepathy.
You don't know about that.

This is a thumb workout.

You'll leave with thumbs of steel.

Which is a new Jane Fonda workout plan.

[laughing]

Are we good now?

Oh, I don't know.
I haven't been keeping time.

-What?
-Oh my God!

[Klaxon buzzes]

[Cameron] Get the cakes out.

Done.

[Brooke] They look like
they're gonna come out good.

Cameron, what are you doing now?

I'm whisking up the coral thing.
It's gonna be great.

[Lizzy chuckles]
That's intense whisking, Cam.

-Thank you.
-[Lizzy] You're a star.

[Heather] What color coral do you want?

-Gonna put orange and yellow, okay?
-[Harry] All right.

Gotta pour this in here,
but it gotta heat up.

I don't know why they need oil.

Because oil and water don't mix.
They're going to make bubbles.

-Oh! Interesting.
-And little holes everywhere.

-[Cameron] Actually...
-[Lizzy] That's supposed to happen.

Cameron, that looks good.

Thank you! It's an honor and a privilege.

This says put it in?

-[Jenna] I guess.
-And it just works?

[Jenna] I don't know. Wait.

It says, "Pour over some crushed ice
to make one type of coral."

Oh.

[Jacques] Brooke is trying
to make a coral with the ice,

but you're only supposed to pour
small drops of your hot mixture

so the ice doesn't melt.

[chuckling] Jenna,
I don't know what this did.

This didn't even do anything!

We have to not do this,
because there's just not enough time.

It say, when it turn brown a little,
pour it out and put it on paper towels.

Yeah.

[Heather] Now I feel good.

[both squealing]

[Nicole] Thirty minutes left!

This is happening.

-[Cameron] That's fine.
-We're done with the base.

-Go.
-Okay.

-Is that the middle?
-Yeah.

Oh my God, that buttercream.

-I am shook by what I'm seeing.
-[laughs]

Maybe it'll be like a wet, gooey, yummy.

[Heather] Don't be hatin'
on our buttercream.

[laughing]

This is gonna get covered in fondant.

-That's what the head is gonna be made of?
-The head, yes.

In a pastry shop, you would put gloves on.

But these people,

they free-fingering.

-Free-fingering.
-[laughs]

Okay, this doesn't look that bad.

We're just a head over here.

We're just the best.

-What are we putting on the top?
-[Heather] Huh?

-That's the head, bro.
-[laughs]

I think it's a pretty good head.

Get a close-up on this, man.

Heather is putting the work in.

-[Harry] She getting that.
-[Nicole] Heather is rolling.

-[Harry] Show that!
-[Heather] Don't hype me.

-I don't like that.
-All right.

"I don't like that!"

[laughing]

I feel the squad of mediocre gays
will be very pleased.

I feel like all my haters
are eating their words right now.

[Lizzy] You're gonna need that way bigger.

[chuckling] Jenna.

-Oh my God, it looks horrible!
-I know, it looks really bad.

Oh my God.

-[Cameron] Wait.
-[Lizzy] No, don't.

That head is gonna break the cake.
It's so big.

[laughs]

Ten minutes remain!

Make sure there are eight tentacles.

The correct anatomy of octopuses.
We don't want sextopuses.

Sextop... Sextopus... Or a cinco-pus.
That's Spanish for a "five-tentacle."

[laughing]

[Jenna] I got it, look.

This is gonna be the coral
we couldn't figure out.

And we're improvising with some candy.

-[Harry] White thing.
-[Heather] Just make some spots on there.

That's starting to look like an octopus.

[Nicole] That's what I mean.

[Rel] I don't know
how they did it. [laughs]

-You want a make a hat?
-[Heather] A hat? Oh, yeah!

I wanna make a bow tie.

[Lizzy] We're making
little suction-cuppy things.

-They're colorful.
-[Cameron] He's a fanciful gentleman.

[Brooke] At the bottom of the sea,
he's hiding treasure.

We gotta get those stripes.
No, it's not working.

Ugh!

One minute remains!

-[Jenna] What do you think?
-Let's give it lips.

-[both laughing]
-[Jenna] Pucker up.

That's a big ol' rim, but it's kinda cool.

Let's put a little thing on his eyeball.

Five, four, three, two, one!

-You're done!
-[alarm blaring]

Yeah.

Lizzie and Cameron.

Let's remember the enormous octopus cake
you were trying to make.

-And let's see what you did!
-[drumroll]

[Cameron and Lizzy] Nailed it!

[laughing]

So, the eyes to me
look a little bit like a woman's chest.

[all laughing]

-Are you gonna have to pixel out our cake?
-[all laughing]

I think that's a very smart octopus.

He has a very big brain.
He has a very big head.

I love the Froot Loops.

-I love the coral that you made.
-[Nicole] Yeah.

Other than the proportion,
I think you did a pretty good job.

This is really dope.
It looks very fashionable.

Like, even the reefs are like a scarf.

-He's waving like he at a parade.
-[Lizzy laughs]

Huh! What a treat.
All right, get outta here.

All right, Heather and Harry,
you're up next!

-Let's see what you did!
-[drumroll]

[Heather and Harry] Nailed it!

-[judges laughing]
-Eh-eh!

[Nicole] I love
that he's wearing a top hat!

-[Heather] He's a gentleman.
-[Nicole] He has a bow.

-He's going to a formal prom!
-[Harry] Oh yeah.

Even with the measles.

[Heather] Y'know, we got all the elements
y'all ask for him.

We really tried hard.

-We didn't want y'all playin' us again.
-[laughs]

[Jacques] The legs doesn't start
all at the same level.

-My fault.
-They there, though.

I'd love to see them
going down a little bit thinner.

I'm surprised, 'cause I didn't think
y'all would get through this.

He'd be doing too much.

She like, "Look,
I don't need you cheering me on."

That was very funny.

But when you was panicking,
he calmed you down to get you focused.

[Heather] He's a natural leader.
He's taught me everything I know,

so I wouldn't wanna do this
with anybody else.

-Don't make me cry on TV.
-You know I love you. Sorry.

[Nicole] I don't want you to cry on TV,

so I'm gonna ask you
to wheel your octopus away.

-[both laugh]
-All right.

Brooke and Jenna.
Now is your time to shine.

Let's see what you did.

[drumroll]

-[Brooke] Nailed it!
-Oh boy! I love her!

[all laugh]

[Nicole] It's like
if Ms. Pac-Man were a volcano.

[all laughing]

I gotta say,
I see zero octopus, but I love it.

[laughs]

I think the octopus found the treasure
and take all the money out of the trunk

-and put it around.
-[Brooke chuckling]

There's, like, bunching under the eyes.

So I feel like she's telling somebody off.
She's like, "I swear to God."

-[Jenna] I was trying to make eyebrows.
-[Nicole] "You tell me one last time."

"I swear."

[both chuckling]

I've never seen an octopus with full lips
in anything I've ever seen before...

-[Brooke] Maybe we need our own cartoon.
-You should!

If this is an octopus, it's very classy.

-She's just really bougie.
-Yeah, she's bougie.

-Good job.
-[both] Thank you.

[Nicole] This is perfect.
And I truly can't wait to taste them!

I'm gonna ask you to slice
your nicest piece of enormous octopus cake

for us to taste.

And we're gonna sit down while you do it.

I'm hoping the creativity
in our cake will set us apart.

And our chocolate cookies.

This is our secret twin power ingredient.
That's what I'm hoping.

You'll taste it.

Mmm. Yum, yum, yum.
Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Lizzie and Cameron, you are first.

I like the texture of the cake.
I like the flavor of the buttercream.

The cream is not as sweet.

Lizzy put a tiny bit of salt
in the buttercream.

Maybe cut the sweetness a little bit.

I love it. You were paying attention to us
when we said it was too sweet.

Can't stop eating it.

[Nicole laughs]

Heather and Harry.

Your buttercream is just a skosh runny.

But it tastes good! It's like... cake gravy.

-You know what? Okay.
-[Rel laughing] Cake gravy.

[laughs]

The cake is a bit drier and more crumbly
than the first one we tried.

And it's a little bit too sweet.

But I don't feel that, though.
I like the way it tastes.

Same.

I think because of those cookie crumbs,
that's what tastes unique to me.

[Jacques] You're right.

[Nicole] And I kinda like
the texture of your icing.

-It complimented the crunchums.
-[chuckles]

I'm all about this weird-ass cake.

-I really like it.
-[laughing]

[Nicole] Brooke and Jenna!

Why did you choose to do orange frosting?

It was her idea.

-It matches the octopus.
-Mm-hmm.

I like it. That's a good answer.

[laughing]

It's moist, good flavor.
It's all together. It doesn't crumble.

-I could taste more chocolate in this.
-Mm-hmm.

Tastes good.

[both chuckle]

All your presentations was original,
and then the cake, three different styles.

-You about to move my man to tears.
-[giggling] Aw.

-[Nicole] Look, the lip is quivering.
-[laughs]

[Brooke laughing]

Remember, whoever wins
this challenge gets $10,000

and the Nailed It! trophy.

Wes!

Wes?

-Where is he?
-[Nicole] Oh my God, I don't know.

Is he just not gonna come out?

-Know what's happening?
-[Rel] I have no idea.

-[Jacques] Nicole!
-[all laugh]

Ooh, we're gonna need a bigger boat.

[all laughing]

It's like a shark dress. How upsetting.

[all laughing]

All right, Rel, you got the clams?

-I'm ready.
-[Nicole] Jacques.

All your cake look really good,
so we have to base our decision on taste.

And the winner is

Harry and Heather.

[all applauding]

[Heather] Oh my God.

-Oh God!
-Yay!

[Jacques] Bravo! Bravo!

[both squealing]

-[Heather] We did it!
-We started from the bottom!

[both laughing]

It's a blessing and an honor
to have done this with him.

-[all cheering]
-[Jacques] Wow! Wow!

-[Harry] Jackson will definitely...
-[Heather] Watch this every year.

We're gonna make him watch this.
He's not gonna have a choice.

He's gonna enjoy this to our faces.

All right, that's it for Nailed it!

The show that proves
that any fin is possible,

if you don't trout yourself.

See you on the next one! Now jump!

[laughing hysterically]

[Jacques] Good jump.

[theme music playing]
