- [Designer] Last time
on my design rules,
but designed yours
were metaphorically
thrown into hot water.
- This week's challenge
is a double challenge.
Both your master bathroom
and your guest bathroom
need to be completed
by deadline.
- [Designer] Despite
the added pressure
of completing two bathrooms,
the design has had
some fun learning
about exciting
bathroom products,
but the business of bathrooms
can be very expensive
as discovered
by team house and leisure.
- I was excited until we're
told that we need to get three
more boxes of tiles.
- [Designer] Tean Visi also
faced the dilemma of having
too few tiles for the shower.
But team habitat We're pretty
happy with their design
and their budget management.
- It was tied like
my panty line,
and if it gets any tighter,
it's about a snap on the budget.
- [Designer] With double the
drama at a deadline to meet
which designed your
Wolf find sanctuary
and win with their bathrooms.
[upbeat music]
- Welcome to my design rules.
The interior design reality
competition with three design
doers are decorating
three acquisto host
at a gold per state
development, just outside of
Johannesburg, South Africa.
It's here that they will
compete for challenge rewards,
and ultimately
the judges choice.
It is the third challenge,
route design DeVos,
the bathrooms,
and having to complete both
challenges in the time usually
allocated to one
is no easy feat.
So it's D-Day which means
there's a flurry of activity
and some rattle rattle on site.
- It a few hours away
from the countdown.
And I'm once again,
unwrapping little diamond.
be, it just couldn't
happen South.
- I know, I mean to a
stage no more chandelier's
but it's like Amanda,
what's a room without some
lighting that sparkles.
I couldn't help myself. I,
if you're gonna be
explaining this to Amanda,
cause I'm not gonna
be taken over,
- Honey, I wouldn't
have to take her
cause I'm gonna ladder
it and send her a picture
or she should be here
and she'll see it,
dazzling.
- Am struggling
here, it's so dirty
so so dirty.
- Don't stress, this
bathroom are so dusty.
I think we gonna
clean then three times
- Yeah, I don't think
we've done for three times
- Just atleast two
timeswe can make it
my you have to keep.
It's looks like am
cleaning our face.
- It's been installed and
we're quite excited about it.
It's looking beautiful.
It's complimenting our mixers.
Everything is looking amazing.
- And the mixer
has good buttons.
Like have you seen a shower.
- That shower
digitally has buttons,
have you been in a show
that has buttons before?
- My darling, hallo.
- Sure. Our zebra crossing
is crossing.
Anything that is crossing
is the plumber carrying the
toilet.
- Tyler, it's still a war zone.
They try to finish up,
but they nearly do it's.
- Its 30 minutes prior
to the cut off time.
And we busy running
back and forth,
dropping off the last staff
doing last minute touch ups.
And then the new
came into the pan.
And he's a bit worried if
you're going to finish on time,
but then like we are showing
him that we are gonna be
done, cause everything that
needs to be in the house is
already in.
- And drilled in like
literally everything.
- Everything is in.
- It's just cleaning
up few touch-ups.
- Gentlemen, gentlemen,
gentlemen, 30 minutes to go.
And I expected some polishing,
not fetching things though.
- Don't stress.
We're almost done.
We just had to get one last
plant and a bit of soil
and then we should
be ready for shelter.
- Wow, Looking good. Very good.
Good. Her finishing.
- Hello team habitat.
This is the big 30 minute call.
Are you guys gonna be done?
What are you staring at?
- We're staring at
finishing up our tiling
so that we can
install it fabulous.
Its so easier.
- All right, and that's
gonna be done in time.
In 30 minutes time
you gonna be up.
- Yeah.
- Just a five minutes late
- Yeah, go get a
30 minutes to go.
We'll see you in a bit.
My nerves, my nerves.
They can't take no more.
- Oh, wow.
Well, 30 minutes ago,
things look good in here,
but team Visi nowhere
to be seen here.
You guys are, it
should be next door.
30 minutes to go guys.
30 minutes.
- Yes, we are
actually just taking
or packing everything here.
And then we're just
waiting for them to clean
in there and we'll just
check everything in.
- That's tunny load
it's gonna explore to.
30 minutes left guys.
- [Designer] As the
time takes away.
It's all hands on deck
to finish installation
of the cabinets and other
details to give the bathrooms
a completed look.
- So the third room challenge
was the most grueling yet
for our design contestants,
but the rules are the rules
and I have to play the villain
contestants tools
down your time is up.
- It's so difficult.
We don't have any
words and being very,
very stressful.
- or be like with the bathroom.
You can save money anyway,
but in a bathroom
you can compromise.
- It's exciting to
see that the bathrooms
have reached completion,
but what's even more
exciting is revealing.
The final result that we do
after this short bathroom break.
[upbeat music]
Welcome back to my design rules.
Having had to complete
double the amount of work,
some of our design due
are feeling flushed,
but with the deadline passed,
it's time to reveal those
completed bathrooms.
[upbeat music]
- Are we done with
both our bathrooms
and we quite happy about
like how everything
has turned out.
We're quite positive
that all will go well.
- Today we are on
the natural habitats
of two time challenge winners,
team house and leisure.
I'm trying to keep my voice
down as not to disturb them
and then natural environment.
Team house and leisure.
How are you today?
- We're good thanks.
- [Indistinct]
- You should be doing this
with that half those glasses.
- [Designer] Legends,
this place is amazing.
Well done. An incredible
master bathroom.
- So Danilo ,why
we tried to do here
is actually was to make space
by actually breaking the wall.
And then with the plants,
we actually try to
link it to the outside.
- And then another thing was
to also allow for a bit of
privacy without having like a
solid structure chosen the two
spaces together.
- Design on point YouTube.
But what about those
practicalities?
One person might be napping.
The other might
need to use the loo.
Is that very practical?
- I think it is practical.
And in regards to, if it's a
couple that's been together
for a while,
then they kinda know
each other's ins an odds.
And I think it is great color.
- I'll be honest.
I'm not completely convinced.
And remember, these
judges are gonna come
into this room
and they've already wanted
you to challenge wins.
They're gonna have to really
need a lot of convincing
to give you that third,
what's gonna convince them.
- Raven took down the wall
that divided the bathroom
and the main bedroom would
count as an advantage.
- And also the lights
like it's about 20 lights
that imitates bubbles.
And it's whole, it's
trying to get the idea
of when you take a bath and
then you've got this foam bath
and the bubbles
are just going up.
And also I think the mirror,
unfortunately on installation,
we went a bit skewed,
but I think that design,
they will appreciate the design.
- Although broken mirrors are
usually a sign of bad line,
cause there's hope that
that omen does not come
into your room.
Let's move our tantrum Greeley
to that guest bathroom.
Tell us about the idea.
- So with the guest bathroom,
we actually tried to pick the
colors from the guest bedroom
and introduce them
into the same space.
And also with the art,
we also made it more it
than just a plain bathroom.
- It was more of a continuation
from the guest bedroom
to the guest bathroom.
- Two bathrooms in one challenge
was definitely a challenge.
Firstly, because a bathroom
has so many elements
and there's always something
more you can do to it,
to add to it.
But two bathrooms it
just makes it a lot.
- That's really good. Well done.
- Thank you.
- Cool. So what are your
highlights in these two spaces?
- The highlights in our bathroom
are definitely the accent.
So we have a vanilla
nuo dara rail,
and we have it in
our shelves as well.
So we love that.
- So if you look at this,
the greens that are
in the vanilla nos,
we kinda meshed it with
the plus campaign to use it
to the ceiling and also
applied on the walls.
So we wanted to bring
Dubai into South Africa,
like create all that hotel,
fill in your own space at home.
- That guest bathroom was
also part of the challege.
- So in the guest
bathroom, again,
we wanted to echo what's
happening in the guest bedroom.
So we brought in a
very feminine feeling
of the pink and green again,
but it's a lot softer
and more playful.
- Nice ideas.
I hope the judges see those.
And speaking of
they're gonna be making
their way here soon.
What are you hoping
that they'll see
and what are you hoping
they'll put their blinks on for?
- Well, we're hoping they
will see the details obviously
and the cute things that we've
put in there, like the brush.
And we're hoping that they
don't look at a little miss ups.
- As you guys know, first
impressions are everything.
And the first impression I had
when I walked into the room
was I saw the side
of your mirror,
your main mirror in
your master bathroom.
It's leaning off the wall.
It's not attached properly.
And I can see all the LEDs.
- With the mirror
what happened is that
because if we have the
reading and the half towels'
so when we bought the mirror,
we forgot that windy day.
We need to do like
a baking behind it.
So that's why you see
those kinds of flip flops,
but something that
we can survive with.
[gentle music]
- Welcome Danilo
[indistinct]
- we're not stealing.
We're not good souls
and our own bathroom.
Do you maybe put it that way?
it just feels like a
lot so needs to be done
or embellishments need to
just pop out of some way.
So we were just,
Let's give you a run through
and hope you like heads.
- What I love about both of
your journeys to this point is
that you guys are trying to
always tell stories with the
different rooms you've created.
So what is the story with
your master bathroom space?
- The story for the master
bathroom, is the lion's den.
So this is part of why
not have the lion's den.
Cause it made it on suite.
- You can see that the
hints of gold, the lights,
the kids are quite simple,
cause it's more grown.
This is what the
parents would be or the,
but they need to be growing.
Cause you gotta have money.
You gotta have the money
and he has it. Right.
We try to keep it quite simple,
clean, simplistic, classic.
- It was a double
challenge though.
So let's go through what you
guys have planned for your
guest bathroom.
- For that, with
the zebra crossing.
- Yes. Cause we started
with the guest bedroom,
which is the zebra room.
And then you go into the
deeper crossing from that room.
Black and white.
- What are your
personal highlights
and maybe some of your
lowlights on these two spaces?
- I think highlight.
- Once everything was in.
- Everything gets
regretful and it's razzing.
It's dazzling.
It's just beautiful.
Like once everything is up,
but getting everything up
was not as easy as getting
my app to app.
That was the frustrating
part about everything.
It was hard to get everything up
when you're not allowed to tell.
[gentle music]
- Each of the bathrooms are
looking absolutely incredible.
And I'm sure you're struggling
to pick your favorite.
So with the judging and
announcement of which duo
is our winner, you
won't wanna go anywhere.
[upbeat music]
Welcome back to my design rules.
Designing a beautiful
bathroom is no cheap feat.
Besides all these sponsored
elements are designed,
you Ozar allocate that
a R300,000 cash budget.
It's up to them to break that
budget down into smaller parts
for each room challenge.
For their bathrooms team
Visi came in just under
their projected
R31,000 cash budgets
comfortably leaving a few
hundred Rand in change.
Team Habitat had budgeted
a generous R40,000
from that cash budget,
but they ended up saving
over R3000 for the next room
team House and Leisure
had set aside R30,000
for their bathrooms.
But with the extent of
remodeling ended up with R19,000
contractor fee and a
worthing R57,000 spent.
Tempo and vanilla made some
serious miscalculations.
The designed yours will
have to be very careful
with their budget.
With so many important room
challenges still to come.
There must be enough
money in their kitty
to achieve their designs.
But a win from the judges
will give them a budget boost.
[gentle music]
The third challenge was the
toughest yet prior designed
yeah,as it was a
double challenge,
would it showing
the final results?
It's time to find out
because our judges are here.
- [Designer] Besides the regular
critique by Donald Nxumalo
and Katlego Kondlo
Our guest judges Buzwe Mabuza.
founder of design
dreams International.
- My design style, is more
extension of personalities.
So it changes every single time
or depending on the prefedend.
- [Designer] Having started
in the design industry
at the age of 17,
whose way has gone on to work
with international clients
and create some of the country's
most stylist residential
and business interiors.
- The judge's arrival
is always no very cute.
- I personally am a bit nervous
cause I'm not really
sure what's gonna go down
in those two bathrooms.
- [Designer] First up
team Visi who added warmth
to their high contrast
master bathroom by painting
the walls with Muff mist.
- I know they wanna love
the master bathroom.
Like the master bathroom
is designed for every one.
- Guys, I don't
know what you think,
but I'm in love
- I love the plan
patterns and the textures
the way in which they've also
kept chart few touch points
and spread them
around the bathroom.
The lines that they've
actually accentuated as well.
I think it works
pretty pretty well.
- What's Key for me
is that they didn't go
with the typical white.
They've gone with a beautiful
color and they've taken it all
the way to the ceiling, which
creates a sense of height.
- I love it
I love this bathroom.
It's so open and so
sophisticated and mature.
What a spectacular
bathroom team Visi
has really outdone themselves.
I'm loving so many of
the details in there.
This is so sleek.
So sophisticated.
It's just beautiful.
- This bathroom
is quite classic.
It's gotta, an element
of minimalism to it.
So it's quite clean.
It's got longevity to it.
- I think what they managed
to capture the essence of
luxurious living.
In reference to the
patterns that they've used,
the textures, the stones
and how the patterns on
the stones actually speak
while we do each other.
Also in terms of
the accessorizing,
I mean the various
accents being the crone,
the gold so that the
essence is almost,
to understand or anything
- I'll be honest.
There's not much negative
to say about this bathroom.
Maybe the towel rail could
have been a little bit bigger
and more towards the bath side
than it was towards the basin.
- I love the bar.
- But I can't find
the towel rail.
I mean what am I gonna use
when I get out of here.
- Having seen the main bathroom,
for me the guest bathroom,
doesn't look like there was
much thought that went into it.
- I think there's a
distinct disconnect
between the two spaces.
I think that the finishes also
in the guest bathroom wasn't
as detailed as I
would like them to be.
It was just not as interesting
as the other one was.
- The only detail that I
appreciated was the towel rack
but the raced fell flat.
So it was a let down from
tthe rest of the house
in what they're doing in
the rest of the house.
- [Designer] Next, the
judges make their way
to team house and
leisure's bathroom.
Which has warm
and natural tones,
open plan design and
a planter box feature.
- Wow guys, I must say
this is rather brave.
I'm not sure how
practical it is though.
I can't imagine
myself taking a nap
and having my husband
on the toilet.
- Like I think for me,
the selection in terms of the
material and salo is great,
but the problem is it doesn't
work together collectively
Some of the ideas are great,
but execution is really poor.
For example, this idea
behind this mirror is great,
but the fact that it's showing
that it does installed skew
kinda like loses a bit of
points from me on that front.
- You have to be very
confident with your body
to live in this bathroom.
I feel like am in
Jane's bathroom,
it gives a new meaning to going
to the bathroom behind the bush
- Team House and leisure.
I walked in and I'm like,
what is going on?
It looks like a jungle.
- Jungle fever.
- I think they try really
step out of the box
and try to do
something different.
- I am loving the
team house and leisure
is pushing boundaries.
However, the element of
privacy in any spaces
of the utmost importance,
I think this is a bathroom
that a goldfish will feel
comfortable living in
because it's so exposed.
I think the toilet area should
be something that's private
and would have been nice.
Had they enclosed that?
- I just don't see how a
couple living in that space
could survive.
I mean, that's just the
recipe for a divorce.
- What stands out for me
with against guest bathroom
is overkill.
I think they went overboard
with the flowers together with
the artwork all within
the same kinda space.
So there was a shout
for attention with
all these elements.
It's a bit of a let down.
I think the boundaries
weren't as well,
pushed as much as
the other rooms were.
It lacks in detailing
the finishes.
- The blind is absolutely
standing. I can't fault it.
I love the fact that it
ties in to the guest bedroom
that they did.
So I love the touch.
- [Designer] The final stop for
the judges is team habitats,
on suite bathrooms.
Which has a more
minimalist approach
to the usual bolt style.
- Real worried about everything.
- It was so rushed.
We didn't even have
time really to step back
and look at the bathroom.
- But at the time
we stepped back,
the judges dipped in.
So it was.
- Unexpected
- Deed, all I can
say it's gorgeous.
- Yes.
I'm so happy for them.
They finally listened.
They've edited.
And kinda amazing
this place looks.
- What I love is, how they
managed to actually establish
focal points in this bathroom,
without it being over the top.
In terms of the stone in
the vanity, in the shower,
the towel has allowed those
two elements to actually
come out and actually
be accentuated.
I mean this pendant as well
as overpowering as it is,
it does has a great balance
with everything that's going on.
- Overall. Very
beautiful bathroom.
The details of beautiful
it's well put together
and I love how they
accessorized it just right.
Nothing's been taken overboard.
- The right amount of blame.
- I love how they can
deliberately be excessive
in their approach,
but they executed very well.
They know how to
balance things out.
- I love the fact
that it's practical
and well designed
at the same time.
- They have separated the
bath from the main bedroom,
but in such a nice way.
The wall almost goes halfway.
So there is an element
of privacy in there.
So two people can live
in the quiet comfortably.
It's really quite a considered
room and very practical.
- I'm pleasantly surprised.
Team habitat has really
knocked it out of the park
and I'm getting the style
and finally be getting it.
- They know how to
connect the story
with the two different rooms.
Although they are
different in how they look,
but you can see the
signature in both rooms.
- I love the team
habitat has connected
the guest bedroom to
the guest bathroom
and you can see the singles flow
because of the black and white.
It's almost looks like the zebra
is then brought in to live
in this bathroom yet again.
- The only negative
was the shin did are,
didn't quite get it.
It cheapened the look.
- I don't like that
the shower is so dark.
I think that, from a
cleanliness point of view,
you do want a light shower.
- My advice for team
habitats is that
as a designer you
responding to a need.
So when your client
gives you a brief,
you don't always have to
have your signature on it.
- With so much
constructive criticism,
as well as positive
praise from the judges.
Any one of our design
viewers could clinch it.
At this point.
[gentle music]
- We are all winning on this.
We wanna win this challenge.
There's a lot of effort and
time and sweat that we put
into this challenge.
- I'm freaked out and I'm
crossing my fingers that we take
this the challenge as well.
- Contestants, welcome back.
The third challenge is complete.
You can breathe
inside or relief.
Let's start with
you team habitats.
The judges loved the way that
you brought to the theme,
right the way through the home,
into your guest bathroom
and your master bathroom,
really reflecting
your personalities.
However, they did feel
that the zebra pattern
that you've created might
be slightly too busy
for certain clientele.
Team Visi, Congratulations.
The judges were very impressed
with the toll letter,
but did your choice of
color this time round really
compliment the space.
Team house and leisure.
The judges were very
impressed with your bold move,
opening up that master
bedroom into an unsweet.
However, is the lack of privacy
in your master bedroom
to everybody's taste.
There can only be
one winner, however,
and the winning duo walking
away with an extra R3000
added to their budgets
into challenge for is
team habitats.
- Sure. When did Danielah said,
rewind?
It was--
- put in a Steve Harvey and is
you like you won,
but just kidding.
Cause they're just about
like, are you joking?
Come on really part
like then, okay.
Just tell us why.
So it was really surprising.
- We're very excited for them.
- I'm so excited
for team habitat,
a bear did say in
defense challenge
that they are gonna
come for our crown
and they did come
for it for a special.
They snash and he
disappeared with it.
I don't even know where
he dissapeared to.
- No.
- No. Our time is
coming when we will win.
- No, I'm not jealous.
The aim is the bigger price
not 3000 extra.
- The competition is
definitely heating up
with team habitat.
Find me making good on a
promise for a challenge.
When will team Visi managed
to level the playing fields,
over team house and leisure
make a comeback in
the next challenge,
all will be revealed as we
find out who will reign Supreme
on my design rules
[upbeat music]

gentlemen, 30 minutes to go.
And I expected some polishing,
not fetching things though.
- Don't stress.
We're almost done.
We just had to get one last
plant and a bit of soil
and then we should
be ready for shelter.
- Wow, Looking good. Very good.
Good. Her finishing.
- Hello team habitat.
This is the big 30 minute call.
Are you guys gonna be done?
What are you staring at?
- We're staring at
finishing up our tiling
so that we can
install it fabulous.
Its so easier.
- All right, and that's
gonna be done in time.
In 30 minutes time
you gonna be up.
- Yeah.
- Just a five minutes late
- Yeah, go get a
30 minutes to go.
We'll see you in a bit.
My nerves, my nerves.
They can't take no more.
- Oh, wow.
Well, 30 minutes ago,
things look good in here,
but team Visi nowhere
to be seen here.
You guys are, it
should be next door.
30 minutes to go guys.
30 minutes.
- Yes, we are
actually just taking
or packing everything here.
And then we're just
waiting for them to clean
in there and we'll just
check everything in.
- That's tunny load
it's gonna explore to.
30 minutes left guys.
- [Designer] As the
time takes away.
It's all hands on deck
to finish installation
of the cabinets and other
details to give the bathrooms
a completed look.
- So the third room challenge
was the most grueling yet
for our design contestants,
but the rules are the rules
and I have to play the villain
contestants tools
down your time is up.
- It's so difficult.
We don't have any
words and being very,
very stressful.
- or be like with the bathroom.
You can save money anyway,
but in a bathroom
you can compromise.
- It's exciting to
see that the bathrooms
have reached completion,
but what's even more
exciting is revealing.
The final result that we do
after this short bathroom break.
[upbeat music]
Welcome back to my design rules.
Having had to complete
double the amount of work,
some of our design due
are feeling flushed,
but with the deadline passed,
it's time to reveal those
completed bathrooms.
[upbeat music]
- Are we done with
both our bathrooms
and we quite happy about
like how everything
has turned out.
We're quite positive
that all will go well.
- Today we are on
the natural habitats
of two time challenge winners,
team house and leisure.
I'm trying to keep my voice
down as not to disturb them
and then natural environment.
Team house and leisure.
How are you today?
- We're good thanks.
- [Indistinct]
- You should be doing this
with that half those glasses.
- [Designer] Legends,
this place is amazing.
Well done. An incredible
master bathroom.
- So Danilo ,why
we tried to do here
is actually was to make space
by actually breaking the wall.
And then with the plants,
we actually try to
link it to the outside.
- And then another thing was
to also allow for a bit of
privacy without having like a
solid structure chosen the two
spaces together.
- Design on point YouTube.
But what about those
practicalities?
One person might be napping.
The other might
need to use the loo.
Is that very practical?
- I think it is practical.
And in regards to, if it's a
couple that's been together
for a while,
then they kinda know
each other's ins an odds.
And I think it is great color.
- I'll be honest.
I'm not completely convinced.
And remember, these
judges are gonna come
into this room
and they've already wanted
you to challenge wins.
They're gonna have to really
need a lot of convincing
to give you that third,
what's gonna convince them.
- Raven took down the wall
that divided the bathroom
and the main bedroom would
count as an advantage.
- And also the lights
like it's about 20 lights
that imitates bubbles.
And it's whole, it's
trying to get the idea
of when you take a bath and
then you've got this foam bath
and the bubbles
are just going up.
And also I think the mirror,
unfortunately on installation,
we went a bit skewed,
but I think that design,
they will appreciate the design.
- Although broken mirrors are
usually a sign of bad line,
cause there's hope that
that omen does not come
into your room.
Let's move our tantrum Greeley
to that guest bathroom.
Tell us about the idea.
- So with the guest bathroom,
we actually tried to pick the
colors from the guest bedroom
and introduce them
into the same space.
And also with the art,
we also made it more it
than just a plain bathroom.
- It was more of a continuation
from the guest bedroom
to the guest bathroom.
- Two bathrooms in one challenge
was definitely a challenge.
Firstly, because a bathroom
has so many elements
and there's always something
more you can do to it,
to add to it.
But two bathrooms it
just makes it a lot.
- That's really good. Well done.
- Thank you.
- Cool. So what are your
highlights in these two spaces?
- The highlights in our bathroom
are definitely the accent.
So we have a vanilla
nuo dara rail,
and we have it in
our shelves as well.
So we love that.
- So if you look at this,
the greens that are
in the vanilla nos,
we kinda meshed it with
the plus campaign to use it
to the ceiling and also
applied on the walls.
So we wanted to bring
Dubai into South Africa,
like create all that hotel,
fill in your own space at home.
- That guest bathroom was
also part of the challege.
- So in the guest
bathroom, again,
we wanted to echo what's
happening in the guest bedroom.
So we brought in a
very feminine feeling
of the pink and green again,
but it's a lot softer
and more playful.
- Nice ideas.
I hope the judges see those.
And speaking of
they're gonna be making
their way here soon.
What are you hoping
that they'll see
and what are you hoping
they'll put their blinks on for?
- Well, we're hoping they
will see the details obviously
and the cute things that we've
put in there, like the brush.
And we're hoping that they
don't look at a little miss ups.
- As you guys know, first
impressions are everything.
And the first impression I had
when I walked into the room
was I saw the side
of your mirror,
your main mirror in
your master bathroom.
It's leaning off the wall.
It's not attached properly.
And I can see all the LEDs.
- With the mirror
what happened is that
because if we have the
reading and the half towels'
so when we bought the mirror,
we forgot that windy day.
We need to do like
a baking behind it.
So that's why you see
those kinds of flip flops,
but something that
we can survive with.
[gentle music]
- Welcome Danilo
[indistinct]
- we're not stealing.
We're not good souls
and our own bathroom.
Do you maybe put it that way?
it just feels like a
lot so needs to be done
or embellishments need to
just pop out of some way.
So we were just,
Let's give you a run through
and hope you like heads.
- What I love about both of
your journeys to this point is
that you guys are trying to
always tell stories with the
different rooms you've created.
So what is the story with
your master bathroom space?
- The story for the master
bathroom, is the lion's den.
So this is part of why
not have the lion's den.
Cause it made it on suite.
- You can see that the
hints of gold, the lights,
the kids are quite simple,
cause it's more grown.
This is what the
parents would be or the,
but they need to be growing.
Cause you gotta have money.
You gotta have the money
and he has it. Right.
We try to keep it quite simple,
clean, simplistic, classic.
- It was a double
challenge though.
So let's go through what you
guys have planned for your
guest bathroom.
- For that, with
the zebra crossing.
- Yes. Cause we started
with the guest bedroom,
which is the zebra room.
And then you go into the
deeper crossing from that room.
Black and white.
- What are your
personal highlights
and maybe some of your
lowlights on these two spaces?
- I think highlight.
- Once everything was in.
- Everything gets
regretful and it's razzing.
It's dazzling.
It's just beautiful.
Like once everything is up,
but getting everything up
was not as easy as getting
my app to app.
That was the frustrating
part about everything.
It was hard to get everything up
when you're not allowed to tell.
[gentle music]
- Each of the bathrooms are
looking absolutely incredible.
And I'm sure you're struggling
to pick your favorite.
So with the judging and
announcement of which duo
is our winner, you
won't wanna go anywhere.
[upbeat music]
Welcome back to my design rules.
Designing a beautiful
bathroom is no cheap feat.
Besides all these sponsored
elements are designed,
you Ozar allocate that
a R300,000 cash budget.
It's up to them to break that
budget down into smaller parts
for each room challenge.
For their bathrooms team
Visi came in just under
their projected
R31,000 cash budgets
comfortably leaving a few
hundred Rand in change.
Team Habitat had budgeted
a generous R40,000
from that cash budget,
but they ended up saving
over R3000 for the next room
team House and Leisure
had set aside R30,000
for their bathrooms.
But with the extent of
remodeling ended up with R19,000
contractor fee and a
worthing R57,000 spent.
Tempo and vanilla made some
serious miscalculations.
The designed yours will
have to be very careful
with their budget.
With so many important room
challenges still to come.
There must be enough
money in their kitty
to achieve their designs.
But a win from the judges
will give them a budget boost.
[gentle music]
The third challenge was the
toughest yet prior designed
yeah,as it was a
double challenge,
would it showing
the final results?
It's time to find out
because our judges are here.
- [Designer] Besides the regular
critique by Donald Nxumalo
and Katlego Kondlo
Our guest judges Buzwe Mabuza.
founder of design
dreams International.
- My design style, is more
extension of personalities.
So it changes every single time
or depending on the prefedend.
- [Designer] Having started
in the design industry
at the age of 17,
whose way has gone on to work
with international clients
and create some of the country's
most stylist residential
and business interiors.
- The judge's arrival
is always no very cute.
- I personally am a bit nervous
cause I'm not really
sure what's gonna go down
in those two bathrooms.
- [Designer] First up
team Visi who added warmth
to their high contrast
master bathroom by painting
the walls with Muff mist.
- I know they wanna love
the master bathroom.
Like the master bathroom
is designed for every one.
- Guys, I don't
know what you think,
but I'm in love
- I love the plan
patterns and the textures
the way in which they've also
kept chart few touch points
and spread them
around the bathroom.
The lines that they've
actually accentuated as well.
I think it works
pretty pretty well.
- What's Key for me
is that they didn't go
with the typical white.
They've gone with a beautiful
color and they've taken it all
the way to the ceiling, which
creates a sense of height.
- I love it
I love this bathroom.
It's so open and so
sophisticated and mature.
What a spectacular
bathroom team Visi
has really outdone themselves.
I'm loving so many of
the details in there.
This is so sleek.
So sophisticated.
It's just beautiful.
- This bathroom
is quite classic.
It's gotta, an element
of minimalism to it.
So it's quite clean.
It's got longevity to it.
- I think what they managed
to capture the essence of
luxurious living.
In reference to the
patterns that they've used,
the textures, the stones
and how the patterns on
the stones actually speak
while we do each other.
Also in terms of
the accessorizing,
I mean the various
accents being the crone,
the gold so that the
essence is almost,
to understand or anything
- I'll be honest.
There's not much negative
to say about this bathroom.
Maybe the towel rail could
have been a little bit bigger
and more towards the bath side
than it was towards the basin.
- I love the bar.
- But I can't find
the towel rail.
I mean what am I gonna use
when I get out of here.
- Having seen the main bathroom,
for me the guest bathroom,
doesn't look like there was
much thought that went into it.
- I think there's a
distinct disconnect
between the two spaces.
I think that the finishes also
in the guest bathroom wasn't
as detailed as I
would like them to be.
It was just not as interesting
as the other one was.
- The only detail that I
appreciated was the towel rack
but the raced fell flat.
So it was a let down from
tthe rest of the house
in what they're doing in
the rest of the house.
- [Designer] Next, the
judges make their way
to team house and
leisure's bathroom.
Which has warm
and natural tones,
open plan design and
a planter box feature.
- Wow guys, I must say
this is rather brave.
I'm not sure how
practical it is though.
I can't imagine
myself taking a nap
and having my husband
on the toilet.
- Like I think for me,
the selection in terms of the
material and salo is great,
but the problem is it doesn't
work together collectively
Some of the ideas are great,
but execution is really poor.
For example, this idea
behind this mirror is great,
but the fact that it's showing
that it does installed skew
kinda like loses a bit of
points from me on that front.
- You have to be very
confident with your body
to live in this bathroom.
I feel like am in
Jane's bathroom,
it gives a new meaning to going
to the bathroom behind the bush
- Team House and leisure.
I walked in and I'm like,
what is going on?
It looks like a jungle.
- Jungle fever.
- I think they try really
step out of the box
and try to do
something different.
- I am loving the
team house and leisure
is pushing boundaries.
However, the element of
privacy in any spaces
of the utmost importance,
I think this is a bathroom
that a goldfish will feel
comfortable living in
because it's so exposed.
I think the toilet area should
be something that's private
and would have been nice.
Had they enclosed that?
- I just don't see how a
couple living in that space
could survive.
I mean, that's just the
recipe for a divorce.
- What stands out for me
with against guest bathroom
is overkill.
I think they went overboard
with the flowers together with
the artwork all within
the same kinda space.
So there was a shout
for attention with
all these elements.
It's a bit of a let down.
I think the boundaries
weren't as well,
pushed as much as
the other rooms were.
It lacks in detailing
the finishes.
- The blind is absolutely
standing. I can't fault it.
I love the fact that it
ties in to the guest bedroom
that they did.
So I love the touch.
- [Designer] The final stop for
the judges is team habitats,
on suite bathrooms.
Which has a more
minimalist approach
to the usual bolt style.
- Real worried about everything.
- It was so rushed.
We didn't even have
time really to step back
and look at the bathroom.
- But at the time
we stepped back,
the judges dipped in.
So it was.
- Unexpected
- Deed, all I can
say it's gorgeous.
- Yes.
I'm so happy for them.
They finally listened.
They've edited.
And kinda amazing
this place looks.
- What I love is, how they
managed to actually establish
focal points in this bathroom,
without it being over the top.
In terms of the stone in
the vanity, in the shower,
the towel has allowed those
two elements to actually
come out and actually
be accentuated.
I mean this pendant as well
as overpowering as it is,
it does has a great balance
with everything that's going on.
- Overall. Very
beautiful bathroom.
The details of beautiful
it's well put together
and I love how they
accessorized it just right.
Nothing's been taken overboard.
- The right amount of blame.
- I love how they can
deliberately be excessive
in their approach,
but they executed very well.
They know how to
balance things out.
- I love the fact
that it's practical
and well designed
at the same time.
- They have separated the
bath from the main bedroom,
but in such a nice way.
The wall almost goes halfway.
So there is an element
of privacy in there.
So two people can live
in the quiet comfortably.
It's really quite a considered
room and very practical.
- I'm pleasantly surprised.
Team habitat has really
knocked it out of the park
and I'm getting the style
and finally be getting it.
- They know how to
connect the story
with the two different rooms.
Although they are
different in how they look,
but you can see the
signature in both rooms.
- I love the team
habitat has connected
the guest bedroom to
the guest bathroom
and you can see the singles flow
because of the black and white.
It's almost looks like the zebra
is then brought in to live
in this bathroom yet again.
- The only negative
was the shin did are,
didn't quite get it.
It cheapened the look.
- I don't like that
the shower is so dark.
I think that, from a
cleanliness point of view,
you do want a light shower.
- My advice for team
habitats is that
as a designer you
responding to a need.
So when your client
gives you a brief,
you don't always have to
have your signature on it.
- With so much
constructive criticism,
as well as positive
praise from the judges.
Any one of our design
viewers could clinch it.
At this point.
[gentle music]
- We are all winning on this.
We wanna win this challenge.
There's a lot of effort and
time and sweat that we put
into this challenge.
- I'm freaked out and I'm
crossing my fingers that we take
this the challenge as well.
- Contestants, welcome back.
The third challenge is complete.
You can breathe
inside or relief.
Let's start with
you team habitats.
The judges loved the way that
you brought to the theme,
right the way through the home,
into your guest bathroom
and your master bathroom,
really reflecting
your personalities.
However, they did feel
that the zebra pattern
that you've created might
be slightly too busy
for certain clientele.
Team Visi, Congratulations.
The judges were very impressed
with the toll letter,
but did your choice of
color this time round really
compliment the space.
Team house and leisure.
The judges were very
impressed with your bold move,
opening up that master
bedroom into an unsweet.
However, is the lack of privacy
in your master bedroom
to everybody's taste.
There can only be
one winner, however,
and the winning duo walking
away with an extra R3000
added to their budgets
into challenge for is
team habitats.
- Sure. When did Danielah said,
rewind?
It was--
- put in a Steve Harvey and is
you like you won,
but just kidding.
Cause they're just about
like, are you joking?
Come on really part
like then, okay.
Just tell us why.
So it was really surprising.
- We're very excited for them.
- I'm so excited
for team habitat,
a bear did say in
defense challenge
that they are gonna
come for our crown
and they did come
for it for a special.
They snash and he
disappeared with it.
I don't even know where
he dissapeared to.
- No.
- No. Our time is
coming when we will win.
- No, I'm not jealous.
The aim is the bigger price
not 3000 extra.
- The competition is
definitely heating up
with team habitat.
Find me making good on a
promise for a challenge.
When will team Visi managed
to level the playing fields,
over team house and leisure
make a comeback in
the next challenge,
all will be revealed as we
find out who will reign Supreme
on my design rules
[upbeat music]
