All right. Okay.
All right.

You've made your point.

Oh, I'm sorry.
Did I wake you?

Some of us have jobs
to go to.

You know, work,
career, money?

Some of us are broke
with a lot of free time

and no wife
to spend it with.

Thank you for asking.

The Peter I know would

to get what
he wanted.

Amanda, you realize that
a doctor's practice

succeeds or fails
upon the word of mouth
of his patients.

Right now,
my reputation stinks.

Which doesn't explain
why you're not doing
anything about it.

Oh, so I'm just supposed
to go do it, huh?

Is that your professional
advice to me?

Well, it makes more sense

Oh, come on!

I had a little too much
to drink. So what?

It's good for you sometimes
to blow the cobwebs out.

And where I go
is none of your business.

I am your wife,
or don't you remember?

Well, considering
the amount of time

that we've spent together
in the past few weeks,

it sort of slipped my mind.

Well, unlike
your first wife,
your sacred Beth--

Don't.

I bet you remember
every precious
moment with her.

I bet life with her
was just idyllic.

That was
a real marriage,

not the sham
this one is.

Oh, so you finally
let it out, huh?

You think this marriage
is a sham.

No, you do.
You just don't have
the courage to say it.

There's two things that
stand out clearly.

One, World View Telecom
client base is
very wealthy but old.

And two, among hip
young consumers,

there's virtually
no name recognition.

Unlike bottled water,
World View Telecom

sells service,
not image.

People don't
buy service,

they buy the perception
of service.

I'm sorry,
I didn't mean--

It's all right,
that's okay, man.

It's okay. I want you to know
as much about me

as I know about you.

Honesty builds trust.

Okay, then.

Just one more question.

Has therapy with
a patient ever led

to a more personal
relationship?

That would be entirely
unethical.

Well, yeah,
but is it possible

for you to have
a personal relationship

with a patient?

I don't know.
You tell me, Matt.

You're a medical student.

Well, I think the doctor-
patient relationship
would have to change.

End.
Immediately.

Well, then,
Dr. Hathaway...

you're fired.

What are you
saying, Matt?

I'm saying we're gonna have
to find me a new therapist,

because I happen
to be very attracted
to this one.

Amanda!
Nice to see you.

Enjoy.
Ms. Woodward!

Here for lunch?

Actually, I want
to talk about

renting out
the restaurant for
a private party.

Certainly.
How many in the party?

Just two--
Peter and me.

I want the entire restaurant
to ourselves.

I'm sorry, Amanda, but the cost
would be prohibitive.

Come on, Taylor,
these are friends.

I think we can work
something out.

What are we looking at?

Kyle: Uh, say 1,200?

Kyle's not very
good with numbers.

It would be more
like 2,500.

I'm really sorry,
Amanda.

Just put it on
my credit card,

and I'll be out
of your hair.

Oh, and when I said private,
I mean private.

Don't worry. I will
take the keys,

head home early,
maybe have a party
of our own.

How's that sound,
sweetheart?

Great.

Good.
Then it looks like it
works out for everybody.

[knocking on door]

Please, God,
no dogs.

No dorks.

Hi.

Sydney, right?

Yeah.
Hey. Ben.

Hey, how's it going?

A lot better than
five seconds ago.

Hey, Syd!

Whose Maserati is that
out front?

It's got me blocked in.

Actually, that'd
be mine and--

Oh.
We were just leaving.

Nice car.

Let me guess.

Red?

Is there any
other color?

Thank you, Michael.

For what?

For being here tonight.

It's been so tense
for so long.

Yeah.

I mean, this is the most
relaxed I've been in ages.

Yeah, it's nice.

What's amazing is that
we can still be intimate

without touching.

Yeah, it's amazing,
all right.

You'll always be
my best friend, Michael.

You have to know,
I'd do anything I could

to make this
easier on you.

[telephone rings]
I'll get it.

Do not look
at my letters.

[rings]

Hello.

Kimberly, Dr. Stein.

Hi, Dr. Stein.
Do you have
good news for me?

Well, during your physical
this morning,

I noticed some cranial pressure
in your right eye.

Probably nothing
to worry about.

but I don't want
to take chances,

so I scheduled an MRI
for tomorrow, okay?

Oh, thank you
so much, Dr. Stein.

I'm so relieved
to hear that.

Good night.

Good night.

Is everything okay?

Oh, I am fit
as a fiddle.

So we can rule out
anything physical,

as far as my problem
is concerned.

That's good.
That's great.

Um, you know,
I just realized I have
to cut this evening short.

I have three serious cases
in the ICU.

Um, but I won't be long,
I promise.

Yeah, hey, Megan?
I'll be right there.

Amanda.

What is this?
Where is everybody?

Slow night, I guess.

Five seconds for
the presentation,

then I am history.

We have oysters
on the half-shell,

we have...

chateaubriand for two,

with garlic mashed potatoes,
a little bit of basil,

and a warm goat cheese
and steamed asparagus salad.

Spiel over. I will leave
you two to your feast.

Chianti is on me.

Bon appétit, amigos.

You know, you took a bit
of a chance.

I mean, you didn't know
I'd show up.

I wanted to find a way
to start over.

Sit.

I didn't think
you liked this place.

I don't.

This is for you.

So you know me pretty well
after all, I guess.

At this point, I doubt
anyone knows you better.

And vice versa.

Why do I suddenly
feel like

one of your celebrated
advertising pitches?

Because no matter
how hard you try,

there's no way
you could say no.

No to what?

To moving back in.

Forgetting all this
petty nonsense.

I can't take another night
without you next to me.

Please, no sarcasm

I was just going
to say...

okay.

I had a really
great time.

So did I.

It's amazing how much
we're alike.

Yeah. I didn't think

there were any men
like you left
in the world.

Do you want to come in
for a nightcap?

Sure. That would
be great.

Okay.

Nice place.

Oh. This old dump?

It's only temporary.

I'm just passing through.

So, how about
if I pour us a drink,

and you just kick back,
make yourself comfortable?

You're reading my mind.

Good.

Mind if I use
your facilities?

Yeah, it's just right
through there.

Great.

Red wine okay?
That's fine.

[door opens]

Are you ready?

The question is,
are you ready?

Ready for what?

Oh, my God!
You're naked!

What's wrong? I felt
this great connection
between us.

Please, Ben, just go!
Get out! Please, Ben!

Come on, where's your
sense of adventure?

I guess somewhere along
the line, I lost it.

Now go before
I call the police.

Get out! Go! Go! Go!
Get out!

Hey! Hey! Whoa! Hey!

Go! Get out! Git! Git!
Get out!

Hey! That's my pillow!

Stop! Thief!

Give me back
my pillow!

Who was that?

My date.
My blind date.

I guess he wanted
a little more out of the
relationship than you did.

Yeah, you can say that
again.

I guess he wanted
a little more out of the
relationship than you did.

You married people don't know
how good you have it.

Hey.

Here.

What are these for?

I think you need these
more than Taylor does.

Hang in there, Syd.
You'll find the right guy.

You know, he's probably right
under your nose.

Good night.

Good night.

Who are you?

Michael?

Everything that you need
to know about me

is right here.

[both sighing]

Oh, he seemed so nice.

Yeah, well,
so did Ted Bundy.

Syd, I'm so sorry.

No, you know what,
I don't even blame you
for what happened.

I mean, it's my fault
for listening to you
in the first place.

I did learn one thing,

and that's
if they're single,
there's a reason.

So, what are you gonna do,
date married men?

Bad idea.

I mean, all you have to do
is watch Ricki Lake
for a couple of days.

No, I'm not
gonna date.

I mean, if you can't
have the man
that you want,

then what's the point in
settling for anything less?

So, who's this guy
you can't have?

No one.

Dr. Stein.

Take a look at this.

Oh, my God.

You called
the cops?

Yes, I did.

They were in here
asking questions
about Jane.

What did you tell them?

That I couldn't
believe they didn't

have anything better
to do with their time.

Yeah, two beers, please.

You knew how I wanted
to handle this,

and you deliberately
went behind my back.

I had to do something.

I don't feel safe,
even in my own apartment.

Unbelievable.

Jake, I went to see
Jane in the dress shop.

She is obsessed with you
beyond any kind of reason.

I know, okay?

That night
in the alley

when I heard
the footsteps,

I went back
and I found her.

It was Jane.

I confronted her,
and she made it
clear to me

that she still
had feelings,

intense feelings.

Why didn't you tell me?

This is about me.
It's my problem.

No, it's our problem.

Look what
this is doing to us.

Would you let me
handle this, okay?

I'm not calling off the cops,
if that's what you mean.

Are you working
tonight or not?

No. You work.

I'm taking a sick day.

Looks like
trouble in paradise.

You're really enjoying this,
aren't you?

No.

It's just uh...

Thanks for the drink.

Will you wait?
Hey, Sam.

So I smiled. So what?

I thought
you were different.

I thought you were
available.

But you know what?

Sydney's right.
If a guy's single,

there's a reason.

Excuse me.

Here you are.

Enjoy.

Syd.
Kyle.

What is going on?

This could be
our biggest night ever,

and Taylor's missing
in action.

The waiting staff
is out of control,

people are walking out,
and I don't know what
happened to my wife.

Well, I can help you
with two out of three.

My organizational skills
are exceptional. Go.

Hi, folks.

Syd, thank you.

Okay, follow me.

Good night, Dr. Burns.
Good night, Dr. Burns.

Hello, Peter.
Taylor.

Well, either you're
a closet mugger,

or you're
following me.

I had no choice.
You've been avoiding me,

and we have so much
to talk about.

I don't think
I understand.

You see,
Kyle's my friend--

It's not about
you and Kyle.

It's about you and me.

Don't you see?
Destiny brought us together.

You said you were
following me.

That's not destiny.
That's just weird.

Look at me.

Think.

Just think back.

You know, all I can
think about right now

is going home
to a nice warm bed

and my wife.

Which wife?

Amanda or Beth?

What do you know
about Beth?

You still don't know
who I am, do you?

Victoria Davis.

Victoria
Taylor Davis.

You're...

Vicky?

Beth's sister?

Little Vicky?
Yes, it's me, Peter.

All grown up.
