Melrose Place (1992–1999): Season 5, Episode 2 - Over Dick's Dead Body - full transcript

Jane and Sydney continue to be harassed by Richard, who eventually confronts them at his burial site. Meanwhile, Alison and Jake continue to keep their affair a secret from Billy while she decides to move into her own apartment away from Melrose. Kyle McBride arrives in Los Angeles and reluctantly approves Taylor's decision to move into Melrose to expand their restaurant chain. Amanda tries to force Kimberly to remember when she kept Peter locked up, while a drug addicted Matt steals a prescription for more pep pills from Michael.

You were exonerated, Peter.

They said
you didn't do it.

Your wife's diaries--

I don't know
about any diary.

I don't know
what it said.

I know what I did.

I killed her,
Amanda.

You keep saying that.

That's because
it's what I did.

It's the only thing
I could do.

The cancer was
eating away at her.

After a while, the doctors
just sent her home to die.

The hallway, the room...

the entire house
smelled of death.

She was disappearing...

little by little,
day by day.

When she could speak,

it was always
the Same plea.

She'd say to me,

"help me, Peter.

Help me die."

there was nothing
i could do.

I knew it was time.

Truth is, it's probably
the most compassionate
thing...

I ever have
or ever will do.

You must have
loved her very much.

Hey!

You son of a bitch.

Peter was exonerated
in his wife's death
years ago,

and you knew it.

This is all just
a pathetic ruse

to get me to
testify against him.

Apparently
it almost worked.

Only the whole issue
of Peter changing
his identity

is irrelevant
to Bobby's death.

Absolutely irrelevant.

Even better: I don't
need it anymore
or your testimony.

You see, our case
against your husband

just got a lot
stronger.

His only alibi,
Kimberly Shaw,

vanished from
the hospital.

She chose
to take off

rather than
clear your husband,

which I'm afraid
puts him back
up the creek

with nutty Dr. Shaw
holding his paddle.

(honking)

(tires screeching)

Kimberly!

Kimberly!

God, where have you been?

You are in no condition
to be out here.

Listen...

the police, they need
your statement.

You're Peter's
only hope, you know?

Michael, I can't
remember anything.

I don't remember
being there with him.

I can't be his alibi.

Oh, what am I
going to do?

It's O.K.

It doesn't Matter.

You're safe now.

I'm not going to let
anything happen to you.

[knock on door]

All right, all right.
I'm coming.

Give me a break.

I got a serious
problem here, Sydney.

Jane's gone
round the bend big time,

and natch, she won't say
one word to me--

All right, slow down,
girl scout.

It's true, my sister
has had her fair share
of trauma lately,

but I assure you
that's all been
cleared up.

Since last night?

I don't understand.

Midnight, there's
a blood-curdling scream

coming
from her bedroom,

so I go down there
and knock.

She says everything's
fine, go away,

then this morning
she's back behind
closed doors vacuuming.

Vacuuming?

Yeah,
for, like, two hours

in a room
that's all of, what,
20 square feet?

And if that's
not weird enough,

there's a
locksmith down there
changing the locks,

and I ask her why.

She says,
"go to work."

what can I say?

My sister
gets weird sometimes.

Don't we all?

I'm sure it's nothing
to worry about.

So I'll look into it
and let you know
what's up, O.K.?

Sure.
That'd be great.
I appreciate it.

Ah, all done.

Your roommate's
got the one key.

Here's
the only other one.

Great. I appreciate
your coming on such
short notice.

Oh, no problem.

Take care, now.
O.K.

Good lord, who'd you
kill now, twins?

They're full
of dirt, Syd,

dirt I found
in my bed last night.

I pull back the covers,
and there it was.

Well, look
on the bright side:

at least it wasn't
a horse's head.

Fine. Make jokes.

But it's pretty damn
obvious I'm not just
imagining this.

He was in my
apartment, Sydney.
He was here.

He being...?

Richard! Who else?

He's not dead,
and he's out there,

and he's looking
for revenge.

Jane, that is crazy.

We know he's dead.

You checked
his pulse yourself.

We killed him,
we buried him,

and, thrill
of thrills,

we got away with it.

Yeah, well, someone
put dirt in my bed,

and if it wasn't Sam
and it wasn't me
and it wasn't you,

then who was it?

It was...
someone who saw us
that night.

We heard a noise,
didn't we,
in the woods?

Anyone
could have seen us

at Richard's,
anywhere
along the way.

But it wasn't
Richard.

Fine. Prove it.

O.K. I will.

We'll go there
tonight after work.

We'll dig
the creep up,

worms and all.

You've got yourself
a date.

Fine.

Fine.

[telephone rings]

[ring]

hello.

I couldn't sleep
last night.

Alison,
don't do this to me.

I can't help it.

I need you, Jake.

Oh, yeah?

All right,
to hell with it.

Secret relationship
or no secret
relationship,

I'm coming right up.

Oh, hey, Jake,
great timing.

Jake, meet Taylor.
Taylor, Jake.

Could you
give us a hand?

I'm moving
all of Jo's stuff
out of her apartment,

and she's got
tons of stuff.

She's from back east.
Uh, boston, right?

Damn.

Oh, hey, there's Amanda.
That's our landlord.

Hey, Amanda.

I want you
to meet Taylor,
your newest tenant.

Taylor Mcbride.

But, Matt, you can't go
around renting apartments.

There's applications
and leases...

look, Amanda,
Taylor's very cool.

I know she'll
fit right in.

As for the lease,
I've already signed it.

I'm sorry if we're
springing this on you.

I know your husband
Peter burns is in some
sort of legal trouble?

Well, obviously
in his zeal

Matt forgot
one important rule

that we require
of our tenants.

Oh, and what is that?

That they mind
their own business.

I'll need that check
as soon as possible.

I have an appointment.

[footsteps]

Jake, there you are.

Are you ready for
that ride to work?

Oh, that's right.
You're taking me
to Shooter's.

Um, Alison,
meet our new
neighbor Taylor.

Hi. It's good
to meet you.

Nice to meet you.

Sorry, Matt.
Got inventory.

Billy.

Oh, my bike
broke down.

She's giving me
a ride.

Hey, Billy, I want you
to meet Taylor.

She's moving
into number 6.

Give us a hand,
would you?

Hi.
Hi.

[knock on door]

where is she?
Back there?

Just hold on,
will ya?

I think we've all
held on long enough.

Peter's
preliminary hearing
is in a few days.

Without Kimberly's
testimony,
he's finished.

O.K., all right,
all right.

She's
in the bedroom,
but she's sleeping,

and I'm more
than aware of
our situation here.

I mean,
our whole practice
is crumbling,

thanks to this.

Then why the drama
at the hospital?

Why are you
hiding her here?

She doesn't remember
the dinner with Peter,

and it's not more
multiple personalities
or anything like that.

She simply does not
recall that night.

You got to understand,
you know,

she's fragile
after the surgery.

Fragile?

My butt.

Amanda...

get up,
you crazy bitch.

What do you mean,
you don't remember

after we risked
our lives saving you?

I will make you remember.

Oh, please don't.

I just need time.

I'm trying.
I'm really trying.

Well, try harder.

You better jog
her memory, and fast.

O.K., but--

O.K., we're going to
start in I.C.U.

Late again,
Fielding?

What's that,
twice this week?

I'm sorry, doctor.

No name tag,
no stethoscope.

Get yourself together,
Fielding, then meet us
in i.C.U.

Go!

Oh.

Damn it.

Matt?

What?

You O.K.?

Yeah. I'm just, uh,
I'm looking, uh--

there it is
right in front of me.

Uh, and my stethoscope.

And, well, I, uh...

I better get back to rounds.

O.K.

Don't.

Turn around.

You nut!

Oh, you should've
called me first.

Wanted to use
that element
of surprise thing.

I couldn't resist.

And before
you say anything,

andre is running
the restaurant.

Look, if
the only reason

you came to Los Angeles
is to shop,

we do have stores
in boston.

You know why I'm here.

Oh, space,
a little time
to yourself.

At first
i bought that.

Now I don't.

All right, you caught me.

Aha.

The ulterior motive
rears its ugly head.

I want us to expand
into the L.A. Market,

but I had to make sure
it was right for us first.

We've always talked
about expansion, right?

Well, sure, yeah,
in a couple of years.

Wouldn't Manhattan
make more sense?

Taylor, this
is so unlike you

to want to pull up
roots.

Sweetheart...

I know it's not like me.

But I just felt
this need

to be more spontaneous

for you
and for our marriage.

Sure.

I'm telling you, Kyle,
this city is so romantic.

The sun shines all the time,

and the ocean,
and the whole glamour thing.

It's so great.

Do you realize...

that we haven't spent
this much time apart

since we got married?

Then you'll consider it?

I'll consider it.

I hope we're writing
all this stuff off.

Every cent.

Oh, that's good.

Are you sure this is
the right place?

I mean, all the fire roads
look exactly alike.

Get the shovel.

Hurry up.

All right.

I knew it.
I was right.

Wait.

There's something
down there.

"Looking for something?

"I've got the body,
girls.

"For $50,000
I'll keep your secret."

Someone did see us
that night, Jane.

It's not a ghost.
We're not cracking up.

No.

We're just being blackmailed.

Oh, hi.

Mmm, hey,
morning, Syd.

Hey, thanks
for talking to Jane.

She seems
a lot better now.

Oh, great.
Listen, is she home?

Yeah.
She's sleeping in,

and she really
needs her...sleep.

Oh, that's
all right, Sam.

Why don't you run along
on those errands,

I'll see you later
at the shop.
O.K.

Bye.

You picked
a great time

to adopt a new
sister, Jane.

That is what's going on
with old pixie-face,
isn't it?

The younger sister
you always wished you had,

but you still ended up
with me?

Sydney, we don't
have time for this.

Where did you find this?

Tucked into
my morning paper.

"bring the 50,000

"to 2113 east first street
at 10 p.M.

"there's a back entrance.

Leave the money
next to the door."

I know that address.
It's right near
the garment district.

They close up tight by 6:00.

Time out, Mata Hari.

Where in the world
are we going to get
that kind of money?

Who says we need money?

Well, isn't that
a prerequisite to blackmail?

No.

Not if we bring
this along.

No, Jane, no.

We cannot, under
any circumstances,

get involved in
any more foul play.

Jane, if someone
were to get hurt,

it would be
our second strike

in a three strikes
state.

I don't care.

I can't take this anymore,
living in fear this way.

I know, but we can't
keep adding
to the body count.

Fine.

You dummy up the money
and find something
to put it in.

I'll be in charge
of no one getting hurt.

No slip-ups tonight,
Sydney.

One way or another,

we're ending this.

Matt: Michael?

Michael.

"Down the hall
in the copy room.
Sydney."

Uh, Michael?

Aah!

God, Matt!

God, you trying to kill me?
What are you doing here?

Sydney, um, uh,

I'm just--I'm--I'm--
I'm looking for Michael,

uh, you know, just
medical school junk.

It's no big deal.
I'll talk to him later.

Are you O.K.?
Cause if you don't
mind my saying,

you look god awful.

Well, you know,

studying day and night.

But I see
you've taken up
counterfeiting, Syd.

That's really good,
cause if you can't
earn it, make it.

Oh, this.
It's just some funny money
i was printing up

for, um, a game
that I invented.

See, it's a new hobby
of mine, inventing games.

Really? Well,
everybody loves
a good game.

I'll see you later.

Yeah.

Except for the life
and death variety kind.

The idea is to bombard
Kimberly

with as many details
as we can

about that night
at the restaurant.

I had lamb, she had fish.

It was all small talk
until after coffee,

and then she confessed
about the personality problem,

then she ducked out.

Hey.

I know how important
this is,

but I don't get
much time with you.

So do you think
we can forget this
for a second?

I don't think they allow
conjugal visits here.

What is it, hmm?

You been all business
since you got here.

In fact,
you been that way
for the last two days.

I want to know...

was your wife...

was Beth the love
of your life?

Amanda--

oh, I know
it's childish and silly.

Yes, it is.

But you asked me
what was wrong,
and I'm telling you.

When you talked
about her death,

I--I felt your passion.

I was different then.

O.K.?

I was naive,

I was a kid.

And she was my wife,
and I loved her.

So much so
that after she died,

I'd convinced myself

that I could never
love another woman
as deeply.

Even the words,
"I love you,"

were impossible
for me to say.

You still didn't answer
my question.

You know the answer.

No, I don't.

I know how you felt
about her.

Amanda, don't you see?

You taught me
how to feel again.

How to love.

My feelings for Beth

or anyone in my past

don't touch the depth
of my love for you.

Ahem.

What?

I can't believe
i made you say all that.

No.

Thank God you did.

I love you, Amanda,

like no one else.

Made ahead of time.
Probably this morning.

The salad's
the same deal.

It is drowning
in bottled dressing.

The whole place
is that way.

A false front hiding
gross inadequacies.

You know, the chef is
the former dishwasher

who took over after
the original chef quit

because of
a penny-pinching owner.

Been doing
a little research.

It's for sale.

We could buy
the partnership out
for a song, Kyle.

Trendy neighborhood,

fantastic kitchen.

I mean, look it.
They spent a fortune
on redecorating.

Come on.
What do you say?

I say that
this is crazy.

I've been thinking
about this all day long.

A spontaneous trip out here,
that's one thing.

But to just pull up
stakes so quickly...

i can't help but wonder
if this has something
to do with--

we agreed never
to talk about that.

I'm just looking for
some sort of explanation.

Well, maybe
you're right.

Maybe what happened
does have something
to do with this.

Baby, I told you
again and again,
I love you.

I need a new
start, Kyle.

And I think
you do, too.

Now, if it makes
you feel any better,

we could put
a time limit on it.

Say a year.

Meanwhile,
the Boston restaurant,
Andre can run it.

Hmm...

So...what are we
going to call this
new restaurant of ours?

Kyle's, of course.

After its
world-renowned chef.

And his beautifully
intoxicating wife.

I'm going to start looking
for an apartment tomorrow.

Something quiet and quaint
with oodles of charm.

Make sure
it has a pool.

Absolutely.

Baby, I promise, it's going
to be our dream come true.

Cheers.

To Kyle's.

Matt: Hey, here
you go. Thanks.

I'll just wait
if it's O.K.

Uh, Mancini...
he's at Wilshire
Memorial, isn't he?

Yeah.

Yeah, and his
own practice
in Beverly Hills.

O.K.

Just a second.

Oh, sir?

Yeah, what?
Is there a problem?

No.

Just wanted to know
if you minded generic.

Oh, generic.

Generic.

Generic's fine.

Very well, sir.

Be right back.

Alison?

Be right out.

Wow, it's a great
view from here.

Doesn't hold a candle
to this one, I bet.

You'd win that bet.

Now, is it just me,

or is all this sneaking
around kind of fun?

You're not going to get
any complaints from me.

It is so weird...

living so close
for so long,

searching
for a soul mate...

and he's right
downstairs.

I want you
to know that...

you are making me
feel things

I never
thought i'd feel.

Well...

would...love
be on that list?

What do you think?

I think brilliant
minds think alike.

[gun cocks]

Aah!

Damn it, Sydney!

Jane, watch where
you point that thing!

God, I thought we
weren't going to do
things this way anyway!

Just stay out
of the light
and keep quiet!

Shh!

Someone's coming.

It's him.

Great. Now we
just follow him?

Hold it right there,
mister!

Jane, don't!

I've got a gun,
damn it!

She means it!
Stop!

Now drop the bag.

Reach for the sky!

Oh, take what you want,

but please, please
don't kill me

Sam?

Jane? Sydney?

What are you guys
doing here?

Us? What the heck
are you doing here?

Is that a real gun?

Yeah.

Yeah. We never
leave home
without it.

It's a bad
neighborhood,
don't you know?

Well, really, Jane,
if you were going
to come down here

and pick this stuff up,
you should have told me.

The guy on the phone,
he said that he was trying
to get ahold of you all day

and that I should come down
and pick up the Samples--

he who?
Did he leave his name?

Did you recognize
his voice?

No. He just said that
he was from Lycee Clothing.

He was testing us.

The cards are
on the table now.

I wish someone would tell me
what's going on here.

It's nothing for you
to worry about.

It's just a crooked buyer
we've been dealing with.

It just got a little
out of hand.

Right, Syd?

Mm-hmm.

Here you go.
Melted butter
and real syrup.

Just the way
you like it.

Wow...

did you do this?

Sam, these sketches
are wonderful.

Yeah. A degree in art
and I waste it on doodles.

Someday, I'll put it
to use, though.

Listen, if there's
anything I can do,

I mean,
anything at all,
I would love to.

Jane, look...

the breakfast
and the compliments
and everything,

that's really nice,
but I'm not buying
the crooked buyer story.

You had a real gun
last night.

What is going on
around here?

Sam, I'm going to do
you a huge favor

and not answer
that question or
any of your questions.

The less you know,
the more you're
protected.

Trust me.

Jane...
could we talk?

Alone?

I'll be right back.

Jane...
What?

You've know me
since birth,

and you know
I need my sleep,

and I get weird
without my sleep.

I haven't really
been getting any.

See, I keep
tossing and turning,

trying to figure out
what the heck are
we going to do next?

We're not going
to do anything, Sydney.

As difficult as it is,

we're just going
to have to wait him out.

And if he was watching,
there's a good chance
the gun scared him off.

Unless, of course,
he's buying his own gun,

in which case, we should
be buying flak jackets.

Sydney, calm down.

Yeah. This from
the woman who just
a few days ago

was screaming
her fool head off

over a pile
of innocent dirt!

Well, maybe it's
that old adage about
the tough getting tougher,

or maybe I'm just scared
to react any other way.

Either way, I don't want
any arguments, understand?

Understood.

Lunatics always do make
the best leaders.

Mussolini...Hitler...
Amanda.

Don't call me,
I'll call you.

No, I'm--I'm telling you,
you got the wrong Alison.

No. Alison Parker
already has an apartment.

It's a really nice one,

and you know what,
she's very happy there.

Will you give me that?
What are you doing?

Hi, this is
Alison Parker.

Yeah. I'm sorry
about that.

Um, no, no, no.
I do still want it.

It's month-to-month,
right?

O.K., great.

O.K., 6:00.

Thank you.

No way!

You're not
moving out? You?

I mean, look, if
Amanda is our landlord,

I mean, heck,
you're the den mother.

Will you keep it down?

I don't want this
to get out.
Not right away.

Alison, can I talk
to you for a second?

Sure.

You're not moving
anywhere.

Jake, calm down.

This is the perfect
temporary solution.

It's 3 blocks away
on a month-to-month
agreement,

and we won't have
to sneak around
anymore.

And a couple
of months
down the road

when the idea
of our relationship
is out and accepted,

I'll move back
into the building.

I mean, the whole idea
was to keep from hurting
Billy's feelings.

For you to go
to all this trouble--

this is for both of us

so we can be together
whenever we want.

Well, I say we just tell
Billy everything right now.

No! Because you know
exactly what's gonna
happen.

Our relationship won't
be about us anymore.
It'll be about him.

I have thought
about this, Jake.

Moving out
is the best solution.

Damn it, Alison,
this whole thing
is taking over our lives.

Well,
is this whole thing

such
a terrible thing?

Well...

well...

that terrifies me, O.K.?

That's probably what
makes it so exciting.

You are impossible
to argue with.

So quit arguing.

If we move fast,
it's ours.

Now, I almost put
a deposit down,

but you had
to like it first.

You know if it
makes you happy,
it makes me happy.

O.K., well, then
let me take care
of everything:

the lease,
the payments,

and we'll move in
right away.

What do you say,
hmm?

Under one condition.

What?

That we break it in...

properly.

Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm.

Hold the thought.

There's no room
in our lives

for any little Kyles
right now.

I'll be right back.

So...all quiet
on the blackmail front?

Not a sound.

No more letters,
no more phone calls.

Hmm. Well,
maybe you were right.

Maybe we scared him off.

[knock on door]

Oh, what now?

Delivery,
Jane Mancini.

That's me.

Wow.

Hey, do you guys
know what's in that?

No, not a clue.
Sure weighs enough,
though.

Thanks.

Thank you.
Have a good night.

You, too.
Bye-bye.

Jane, I'll tell you
what it looks like.

A coffin.

Don't be ridiculous.

Aah!
Oh, my god!

It's a dummy, Syd.

The clothes. Jane,
look at the clothes.

Richard's.

[gasps]

Blood stains.

They're
Richard's clothes.

O.K. All right.
Just so we know,
for the record,

this is getting
way too freaky for me.

Syd.

Oh, another note.

"Tomorrow, 9 P.M.,
bring the money
to the grave,

or the body goes
to the police."

Oh. Great.

Well, the guy's serious.

This is out of control.

I'll say.

What are we gonna do, Jane?

I don't know.

I don't know anymore.

Hello.

It's me.
Are you O.K.?

They had me
on hold forever.

Peter?

Yeah. I'm here.

Well, I'm at Michael's,

and it's going well
with Kimberly.

She's being
extremely cooperative,

so as soon as she
tells the story,

you'll be off.

Keeping the faith,
right?

Keeping the faith?

I'm in jail for something
that I didn't do.

I'm kept from the woman
that I love,

the woman
that I'm married to,

who I get to spend about
10 minutes with a day.

Peter, calm down.

Well, I can't calm down.

I'm locked up
in this hellhole,

and you and everybody else
are telling me
to keep the faith.

And Kimberly, no less!
And Kimberly!

You know, if that's
my only hope, Amanda,

well, then I'm
as good as fried.

That's it.
Put the phone
down.

This call's
over.

It's over
when I say it's over.
Peter.

Hang it up,
smart mouth,
now.

Peter.

Amanda, I gotta go.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Get off him!

First and last month's
rent, plus security.

Wow.
I love your apartment.

Your decorating's great.

Ooh, and it's
a really good kitchen.

How come my place
doesn't have any of this?

Perhaps because
you don't own
the building.

I'd love to talk,
but i've gotta
get going.

Oh, I'm sorry. Silly me.

I'll walk out
with you.

Oh, I forgot
my purse.

Make it quick.

[telephone rings]

[answering machine
turns on]

Detective Wiley:
Ms. Woodward,
this is Detective Wiley.

There was an accident
last night at the jail.

Your husband Peter
was hurt.

He's in the infirmary.

I'd suggest you
get down here right away.

Oh, my God.

I'm sorry.
I just heard the phone.

I'll handle it.

Detective wiley,
please.

Yes, I'll hold.

Get out.

Hey, there you are.
What took so long?

Nothing. We were
just chatting.

Oh.

You all right?

Fine. I'm great,
actually,

because she said
we could move in
right away,

which means we have
a thousand things
to do.

Wait.

Come on.

Sam, let me
ask you something.

Do you think that
you could run the shop
by yourself?

Me? Oh, please.

Why? You're not going
anywhere, are you?

Well,
as a Matter of fact,

that's a distinct
possibility.

Well, wouldn't Sydney
be a more likely candidate
for the job?

Well, Sydney may be
going away as well.

Uh, ahem...

Jane, could I talk to you
in private a moment?

Sure.

So going away?
Where are we going, Jane?

I'll assume after
a speedy trial,
prison.

[sighs]

it's a confession.

The whole 9 yards,
from rape to murder.

Even if we did
have the money,
which we don't,

there's no guarantee
this isn't gonna go
on and on.

Sydney, stop it.
What are you doing?

I'm saving our necks.
What does it look like?

We don't have
the money.

I can get 20 grand, O.K.?

How?

I saved up my 10%
from Burns Mancini,

plus an investment I made
in a porno film.

Please, no comments.

It was stupid,
but lucrative.

Now, that still leaves us
30,000 short.

Now, we can kiss
that phony money good-bye.

He's never gonna
buy that now.

If you put up this store
as collateral,

I'm sure my bank
would make us the loan.

Yeah, like what, 15%?

Jane, please.
This is no time to be
arguing interest rates.

Our--our freedom, our lives
are at stake here.

Now, we can just go down
to the bank,

sign all
the necessary paperwork,

and we can have the money,
like, almost instantly.

You've seen the ads:
"loans in a day, guaranteed."

and then what?
We just put ourselves
in the hands of a madman?

Well, it is better
than the hands
of the authorities.

Jane, there is
no other choice.

Oh, my god.

The official report
states that he was
unruly

and force was needed
to subdue him.

I've initiated
an inquiry.

It'll be
a couple of days.

In the meantime, is
your friend Kimberly
ready to testify?

We're almost out
of time here.

She'll be ready.

If it's all right,
could I have a moment
alone with Peter?

Of course.

What have they
done to you?

I'm beginning to see...

that I'm not getting
out of here.

Don't.

No, I mean it.

They've taken it all
from me:

my practice, you, my life.

If I don't get out of here,

i swear to god
I'll kill someone.

No.

No, I mean it.

I really will kill someone.

No.

Can't talk that way.

You can't.

I couldn't believe
it when I heard.

You're
really moving.

Just a couple of blocks.
It's no huge deal.

Are you kidding?
You are this place.

Without you,
there's no building.

Oh, don't be ridiculous.

Al, I got to know
if this has anything
to do with me, you know?

I know i've been
bothering you,
pressuring you,

ridiculous
marriage proposal.

It's not about you.

I--i just need a change.

It'll be good for me.
And you.

So I make you
that uncomfortable?

I didn't say that.

Got those boxes
you needed.

Thanks.

So, Jake, talk some sense
into this woman.

Trust me, man,
I tried.
She's determined.

Why do I suddenly
get the feeling

I'm in the middle
of a conspiracy here?

Got me.

Me, too.

O.K. I won't push.

You need any help
with the move,
I'm here for you.

Thank you.
I'll keep that in mind.

Night, guys.

Good night.

You think he suspects?

No...

not yet.

Well, I gotta say,

even though I know
the real reason
you're leaving,

Billy's right.
This place isn't
gonna be the same.

Well...

whoever said it was
a permanent decision?

I know. You'll be
moving back eventually.

Or you can move in
with me.

Oh...

yeah, well...

then we'd be
living together.

Is that a problem?

You know,
it wouldn't be
the first time

i've been accused
of moving too fast.

To tell you the truth,
nothing would make me
happier.

Walk with me, Fielding.

Don't bother checking.
You failed.

What? I was up all night
studying for this test.
I don't understand.

I look for brief,
specific answers,
not endless rambling.

Even if you did
know the answers,

it was impossible
for me to find them.

Doctor--doctor...

y-you got a problem
with me, don't you?

I mean, it's either this,
or it's that,

but you're looking
for a reason to fail me.

That's ridiculous.

Maybe it's my lifestyle
that you don't like.

Huh? It's because I'm gay,
isn't it?

Gay? I had no idea
you were gay.

I am warning you, doctor.
You know what?
Don't mess with me

because I took care
of that homophobe hobbs,
and I will take care of you!

This better be
the end of it.

Everything i've got
is in this bag.

I never want to hear
another word about this
or Richard ever again.

Oly-oly-oxen-free.

Shut up, Syd.

[whistles]

Richard.

I knew it.

You're alive.

Toss the money over here,

the money that you
embezzled from me.

Here you go, ladies.
Start digging.

Only a lot deeper this time.

We're gonna need
plenty of room...

for the both of you.
