A team of relationship experts aim to match three couples to get married at first sight. Once the matches are made, the couples have less than one week to prepare for their weddings without knowing anything about their future spouse.

which was hard because

I'm definitely, like,
a free spirit.

Because of my
religious upbringing,

Dating has been
horrible for me.

My mom, you know,
really enforced,

Like, no sex before marriage.

And then I have, you know,
like, the one-night stand,

Which is, like, insane,
and just stuff like that,

Which is normal
in your early 20s,

But if you've never seen that
and no one around you

Has done it, it feels crazy.

So it's kind of just, like,
"jekyll and hyde"

In my head all the time.

It's like,
what would the church say?

Like, screw the church.

I am a physical therapist.

I have a clinical doctorate.

In the hospital,
my favorite thing to do

Is ask patients
about their spouse

And how long
they've been married.

I'm always like, "you've been
married for 38 years?"

Like, "okay,
what's the secret?"

Because I am
a really bad picker.

I pick men who are
emotionally unavailable

And who are not ready
for the level of commitment

That I'm looking for.

I'm ready to start
my life with someone

And know that
they're already committed

To doing that with someone
without ever meeting them.

I'm just ready for a real man.

romantic aspect of me

Manifested even then
when I was a child.

I'd like to write little love
sappy poems,

But yeah, and that's something
that I still do now

As an adult.

I've always found escapes
in, like, fantasy and sci-fi,

Being video games,
being comic books.

I would love to introduce
my wife to the magical world

That is "dungeons & dragons."

It's improv based
in a fantasy setting.

We role-play.

I'm very vanilla,
but not boring.

But I gave up the science
research life in place

My parents are puerto rican.

When I was ten, my dad
did move to puerto rico.

I moved to puerto rico
with my siblings.

My mom left, and that's kinda
been, like, a recurring theme,

Like, just women
that I can't really

Rely on or feel safe with.

And it's not for a lack
of trying with me.

because I've been the one

To really put in the efforts
in relationships.

And the return on investment
has been pretty bad for me.

Not many people get me the way
I would like to be understood.

And so I get dissatisfied
when they're not present.

And that's kinda, like,
the emotional depth

That I require, but it's also
the emotional depth

to the relationship.

According to him, I was
a crybaby when I was a kid.

I don't--I don't remember that.

living here seven months.

I started dating, but it just--

The worst part about being
single for me is,

If I was packing or not,

being with a 6'8" guy.

I was having a
conversation with a girl.

I was trying to be vulnerable.

I was being open,
just kinda tell her, you know,

What I'm interested in.

And the entire time,
she's looking at me

Like I was a snack.

Growing up was challenging,
you know.

I was 5'3" in third grade.

I was 5'10 by fifth grade.

You know, I didn't
get the opportunity

To even pick basketball.

Like, people picked it for me
'cause I was tall.

You know, I wish they
would--they would've told me

Growing up that like,
"hey, it's really hard

"to make the nba, you know,
you not just gonna

Make it 'cause you're 6'8"."

I was engaged previously,
but we split, like,

A month before our wedding.

The reason it didn't
work out is,

She didn't want somebody
that was 23, 24.

She wanted somebody that
was 54, 55, not literally,

But on a financial basis,
that's what she wanted.

She wanted a daddy
to take care of her.

And she wasn't honest
with me about that,

So she didn't really
give me the opportunity

To even work on those things.

You know, she just kinda--

She just kinda called it quits.

Because of my
previous engagement,

I'm a lot more cautious now.
I am very cautious.

I'm cautious with people's
actions, what they say.

I pay attention to red flags.

So I decided to be celibate,
and I've been celibate

For a year and a half.

- ♪ I've been giving well,
you just take it off ♪

- It's just sex.

You know, I want
something more than that.

I want something
deeper than that.

And the women that I was
just--I was choosing,

You know, they
just wanted the d.

And so I got to a point
where I was like,

You know what, I'm good.

I'm good.

I don't wanna keep
adding to my body count.

I'm serious about,
you know, wanting to connect

With a person mentally,
emotionally,

But that person
is hard to find.

Five years of all this
still single?

Uh-uh. My way isn't working.

I'm doing my best
to do it right,

But I keep going out
for what I want

Versus what I need.

I always saw myself
as a wife,

But when the time
presented itself,

I obviously got cold feet.

I always felt like I would

Change expectations
inconsistently.

So I think I was afraid
of a marriage that failed.

But I do consider myself
someone who loves fast

And loves with everything
they have.

My dog is like my little baby.

Newton is the world to me.

My mom definitely treats him
like her grandchild.

That little boy,
she buys him outfit.

She gives him oatmeal baths.

She was like, "I do what I can
with what I have

won't get me kids."

I'm very spoiled.

My parents didn't really
have a great marriage.

Watching my parents' marriage
fail, it affected me.

Ever since I was a little girl,
I never imagined

That I would see
my mid-thirties

Without being married.

But unfortunately,
things don't always

When I was about 23, I met my,

I met my ex-fiancé
in my apartment building.

that was supposed to happen

Almost four years ago.

Lavish wedding that I spent
my entire life savings on.

I was supposed to get married,

My fiancé's mistress
approached me and told me

That they had been
sleeping together

For the past six months.

So me and all my friends,
we went

To the destination wedding
without a groom there.

life budget was spent;

Might as well enjoy it,
and it was incredible.

We turned something so sad
and lonely and dark

of my life.
