Magnum P.I. (2018): Season 2, Episode 13 - Mondays Are for Murder - full transcript

Magnum and TC go undercover as efficiency experts when a corporate manager is murdered and everyone in the office is a suspect; Rick is curious why Higgins faked an injury to prevent her from investigating the case with Thomas.

Stand back.

He knows. He knows everything.

Come on.

We got to alert security.

His gun's missing.

You really want to do this?

You really want a bullet
in your back? Keep moving.

Go.

I don't see him.

No, he's still not picking up his phone.

Friend-Finder said he's here, but...

Magnum?

Magnum.

Magnum.

Uh, hey, uh, over here.

I've been calling you.
Where have you been?

What's that?

Step aside, Magnum.

Are you seriously trying
to hide a goat from me?

I wasn't trying to hide the goat.

Okay, maybe I was trying to hide
the goat just a little bit.

Ah, she's pretty adorable.

Her name's Ellie.

She's super sweet.

- Where did you find her?
- Wait.

Oh, my God.

You accepted this goat
as payment, didn't you?

Mr. Castro was short on cash.
What am I gonna do?

Magnum, we've had this
discussion so many times.

We do not barter our services
for homemade pies...

Those things lasted a month.

- ...crocheted sweaters...
- It was very soft.

Who wears a sweater in Hawaii?

And we don't work for livestock.

I mean, she's better than a lawn mower.

You should see her eat grass.
She's like a machine.

You're gonna call Mr. Castro
and demand some actual payment.

Nice goat.

Let me guess. You sent Jack out

to get your money, and he came
back with some beans.

Ellie is much better than some beans.

Eh, not really. You can eat beans.

You're supposed to be on my side.

TC, thank you so much for
filling in for me on this case.

Well, you got a clipped wing.

Glad I could pitch in.

Is this suit really necessary?

It adds a certain air of authority.

I think it'll really help
with the interrogation.

Your size doesn't hurt, either.

He means you're big and scary.

Why I got to be scary?

It just... it might be a cliché,

but the good cop/bad cop thing works,

and, well, since Magnum here
isn't exactly

innately intimidating...

I can be intimidating.

- Not really.
- Mm...

It's not about who's
the most intimidating,

it's about getting the job done.

And the good cop/bad cop thing works.

Bad cop, good cop.

Okay.

Okay, quiet. Behave. This is our client.

Mr. Kahele.

Hi. I'm here with Mr. Magnum

and our associate Mr. Calvin.

They're about to head out to you now.

Oh, great.

- Everything set up?
- Yes.

I did everything you asked.

You really think this will work?

Mr. Kahele,

we can assure you that it will.

Right, boys?

Yes.

Yes.

So, as efficiency
experts, we are brought on

to examine productivity, and we just want

to get a sense of everyone's role here.

So I'm not in trouble?

No, absolutely not.

Uh, can you tell us the hardest part

- about your job?
- With sales,

it's all about keeping those numbers up.

But, you know, most folks
won't buy anything

until you convince them they need it.

I follow basic security protocols.

- Such as?
- Hourly patrols,

always being vigilant.

You'd be surprised how many people

wander in pretending to work here

just to use the john.

Yeah, um...

So, can you describe the most

challenging part of your job?

Well, I'm I.T., so spam.

A-Also,

uh, people looking at porn
on their work computers.

And, you know, one click,

you can download enough malware
to crash the entire system.

Can you tell us about a time

when you worked together as
a team to solve an issue?

It's not a lot of teamwork here.

It's pretty cutthroat.

- Mm.
- Mm.

Well.

Your shoulder healed up fast.

Thought you were doing inventory.

You're not really hurt, are you?

You know...

I think it's this delicious Scotch.

It just sort of loosened it up a bit.

Well, it's good Scotch,
but it's not that good.

Why the fake injury?

All right, fine.

I thought it was the best way
to get out of working

the Sun-Smooth case,
and that is all I wish to say

about it.

You know, I sometimes tend bar here.

And it's my job
to lend a sympathetic ear.

Rick...

I would really appreciate it
if we could drop the matter.

If I could just say one thing.

I just... I'd rather you didn't.

Listen, I-I think lying to Thomas

this early in your partnership...

that's not a good thing.

But he's never
going to find out about it.

Is he?

Not from me.

Thank you.

So, as a mid-level manager,

what is your least
favorite part of the job?

One of the downsides of being a P.I.

on a relatively small island
is that sometimes

you'll unexpectedly run into people

you've dealt with on other jobs.

Uh, I guess that'd have to be the travel.

I'm on the road a lot.

When that happens, all you can do

is put your best poker face on

and hope they don't recognize you.

What consulting firm are you with again?

A boutique firm here in town.

Boutique firm. Right.

Cut the crap.

You're not corporate efficiency experts.

You're a P.I.

Don't know who you are, but I'm guessing

you work with him.

I think you're mistaken.

You really don't remember me?

My wife hired you to follow me.

Last year.

We had a run-in at the Halekulani.

I gave you a panda eye? Bop. Remember?

Seriously, you don't remember this?

Todd Stewart.
I caught him cheating on his wife.

Only one move now.

I think you're confusing me
for someone else.

Come on, man. Don't play dumb.

I haven't punched anyone in the face

since Randy Flynn in ninth grade.

You think I'm not gonna
remember some guy I hit?

How is your wife?

Ex-wife. She divorced me.

I lost half of everything, thanks to you.

You mean thanks to you
stepping out on her.

When they told us consultants were here

to evaluate us,

I thought I was gonna end up
jobless and homeless, too.

So what is going on here?

Look, man, we can't even
talk to you about it right now.

Well, I guess I'm just
gonna have to out you, then.

Why would you want to do that?

Because everybody is on edge.

They think their jobs are on the line.

You can't do that to people.

Okay.

Couple of weeks ago,

a Sun-Smooth employee
died here in the building.

Yeah, Glenn Travers. Upper management.

Had an accident,
fell down the stairs and...

Wait, was there something more to it?

Well, Glenn was a 40-year-old triathlete.

No prior health issues. You're
telling me a guy like that

just falls down the stairs and dies?

And plus, the-the security
camera in the stairwell

was pointed up

when this supposedly happened.

You ask us, it's kind of suspicious.

S-So you're saying Glenn's death

wasn't an accident?

Your boss thinks he was murdered.

And we were hired

to find out which one of you did it.

Why the hell would you
tell him about that?

He was prone to allergies.
I didn't want...

I couldn't let him use the lotion...

You're not a damn doctor, Norma.

If you were smart enough to do that,

you wouldn't be doing this.

When did you shoot that?

Three weeks ago.

I sit two cubicles over from her.

Wasn't the nicest guy, huh?

I-I don't want to say anything
negative about the dead, but...

he was kind of a dick
these past few months.

I mean, he wasn't always, though.

- What changed?
- I don't know.

I mean, Glenn was awesome.

Then, overnight, he went from being

the guy you'd do anything for

to being the guy that
made you dread coming to work.

He started riding everyone.

Especially Norma.

Shouldn't the cops be looking into this?

They haven't been notified.

'Cause of the takeover, right?

- You know about that?
- Dude.

Everyone knows.

Some big-ass company
wants to gobble us up.

Everybody's scared about that, too.

- It means layoffs are coming.
- Yeah.

Sun-Smooth doesn't want the controversy

of a homicide investigation.

Especially if it turns out to be nothing.

Still, your boss wants
to do the right thing.

He just wants to keep it on the low.

Totally get that.

Where were you when Glenn died?

Uh...

Maui. Meeting with clients.

Can we confirm that?

W-Why would I lie?

Well, if you killed Glenn, you would have

a really good reason to lie.

But-but I didn't.

Honestly, man,

I-I didn't-I didn't do it.

How would you like to help us?

Whoa. Hang on.

Can I talk to you?

Sure. Just one-one second.

What are you doing?

Well, he already knows
who we are and why we're here.

Plus, there's a lot of employees
here, and, uh, I don't know,

might be good to have
somebody on the inside.

- Yeah, what if he blabs?
- He's not gonna blab.

He looks like a blabber.

Mm, little bit.
But trust me, it's gonna work.

So, what do you say?

I kind of make a great spy.

I was thinking the same thing.

Are you sulking?

I'm not sulking.

Rick, you're a little sulky.

Okay, yes, I am sulking.

Because I lied to Magnum?

No, because you made
a liar out of me, too.

- How so?
- Because of this. This thing.

I know the truth, and the truth sucks

'cause it's making me lie
to my best friend.

Okay.

I understand the quandary
that I'm putting you in

and I am sorry.

But I have my reasons.

- Well, then tell them to Thomas.
- I can't.

He will understand. I promise.

Rick...

it's embarrassing.

Look, we all do stupid things,

like, uh,

buy a bar with no
business plan or capital,

or get caught shoplifting
when you're a kid

and have your crooked uncle
have to pay off the cops

so they look the other way.

The point is, it's life,

and a part of living

is having a past full of mistakes.

And whatever yours is,

Thomas will understand.

That's the beauty of that guy,
he-he doesn't judge.

Perhaps.

But I do.

Myself, most harshly.

And any imperfections of my character,

and this mistake...

...showed great weakness.

That's the camera that was found

pointed up.
This is where Glenn's body was.

It's got a pretty good angle of the spot.

Yeah.

But if you do this...

Not so much.

Our client said Glenn preferred

to take the stairs over the elevator.

Yeah, so if you planned on
knocking him down the stairs,

you would take care
of the camera beforehand.

You wouldn't even have to be
as tall as you to point it up.

Yeah, and that leaves just about
everybody that works here

as a suspect. And they got,
like, 100 employees.

Hey, TC.

Check it out.

Oh, disposable vape pen.

Looks like somebody was getting
their smoke on up in here.

It's got some lipstick on it, too.

It's a female worker
who was probably on this floor,

and if she came here often,
maybe she saw something.

I used to have one of those.

The patch.

Oh, yeah?

Yeah. It worked pretty good, too.

Except, uh...

I would still sneak a smoke every day.

How about you?

Yeah, me, too.

Let me guess.

Disposable vape pen?

- How did you know?
- Well,

we found one in the stairwell.

That was you?

Maybe.

- Uh, you mind if I ask...
- Okay, look,

I know I'm supposed to smoke outside,

but it just takes ten minutes
to go up and down the elevator,

and it's way more efficient for
me to smoke in the stairwell.

I know it's not allowed,
and I know I shouldn't do it,

but, honestly, I only do it to save time.

So it was you that moved the camera then?

Yeah. I don't want to get caught.

Am I fired?

No, sis.

So maybe the killer got lucky

that she pointed the camera up.

Yeah, seems that way.

So what's next?

Well, I had Todd look into Norma.

The one that Glenn
was chewing out on the video?

It seems like Glenn
really had it out for her.

Maybe she just got tired of it.

I thought people only met in
dark parking lots in the movies.

This is kind of cool.

Well, you know, if we keep
meeting in the office,

people might get suspicious.

Oh, yeah. That's a good point.

So, did you find anything?

Yeah, so I'm, uh,

I'm tight with Norma's assistant.

She's kind of into me.

- You know, she's pretty cute, too.
- Todd, Todd.

- Focus, focus.
- Right, uh,

so Norma was out sick

the week that Glenn died.

So that clears her.
That's two down and 98 to go.

Okay. Is there anybody else
you might think

could want to hurt Glenn?

Take your pick. I mean,

Glenn was president of sales.

Everyone who reported to him...
which was most of us...

we all hated his guts.

Man, we really got to figure out a way

to narrow down this list of suspects.

You know, maybe we're going
about this the wrong way.

If we're just looking into people

that might have an ax
to grind with Glenn,

it's not gonna get us far.

We should start looking into people

who were actually nice to him.

Oh, like somebody
that was planting an alibi

by being too nice.

Oh, that's easy. Cal Harper.

He manages retail chain sales.

He's a major kiss-ass.

He'd do a-a coffee run
for Glenn every afternoon.

I'm talking, like, every day.
I mean, dude had no shame.

Actually, uh, mm...

Here.

All right, that's Cal at-at

company picnic last year.

Although, I don't think

he's got the stones to kill anyone.

You never know.

Might be worth looking into.

Okay, okay. So how do we proceed?

Uh... You know what?

Why don't you go to
Leonard's Bakery, pick up, say,

100 malasadas.

Malasadas, okay. I could
do that. I could do that.

Bakeries are, like, my thing. Yeah.

What are you thinking?

Well, I'm thinking, company of this size,

it's always someone's birthday.

Mm. Get a couple
of cinnamon sugars, please

Brilliant move, TM.

And our boy, Todd, out there,
he ain't doing too bad.

Well, as long as it gives us enough time

to download Cal's hard drive.

Hopefully, we can find a motive.

I got to say, TM, I mean,
people don't seem

to be too heartbroken that Glenn died.

I can't blame 'em.
You saw him on that video.

Dude was obviously a first-class jerk.

That's true, but doesn't mean
the guy deserved to die.

I mean, this isn't about
what kind of person

he was. This is about

right and wrong.

I knew you would say that.

Oh, hey, Mr. Peele.
How can we help you, man?

I-I was just gonna do a systems update.

What are you guys doing here?

Oh, we were just, uh, going
through some sales numbers.

N-No interest in the party?

I hear those malasadas are pretty tasty.

Yeah, you know, I didn't get an invite.

Nobody ever invites
me to stuff like that.

Really?

Well, th-that's something we
should definitely take note of,

because part of what we're
doing here is to make sure that

the company is all-inclusive

Because I'm curious
if you're getting better.

Yeah. Yes.

It's convalescing
quite nicely. Thank you.

Anything on the hard drive?

Well, if Cal was angry with
Glenn, there's nothing about it

in any of his e-mails or texts.

Wait.

This is interesting. One of Cal's

web searches prior
to Glenn Travers' sudden

and unexpected demise
was undetectable poisons.

Specifically, those that can be ingested.

Some of these could cause a heart attack.

Wait a minute, didn't Cal deliver
Glenn coffee every afternoon?

Yeah, according to Todd.

Be an easy way to poison someone.

So maybe Glenn
wasn't pushed down the stairs,

maybe he was poisoned and then he fell.

Seems like Cal just became
our main suspect.

So you think, turning off the AC,

and giving Cal an extra short chair

is gonna make him spill his guts
about killing Glenn?

The point is to make him feel

as uncomfortable as possible,

so that Magnum can rescue him

and build some kind of rapport.

Remember, he's the good cop
to your bad cop.

If we can get Cal
to feel like Magnum is an ally,

he may feel free to be honest with him.

We need to interrogate him
without it feeling like we are,

so maybe we can get a motive out of him.

In the meantime, I've retained
an independent pathologist to do

a private autopsy on Mr. Travers

so we can ascertain if there was
any poison in his system.

And, also, Kumu just called.

Mr. Castro is at Robin's Nest

because you called him
to discuss the goat.

Now I know you're working on this case,

so I'm gonna have to
deal with it, but I...

Hey, uh, Higgy, I got to go.

Okay, I know you don't want
to discuss this right now,

- but I would really...
- No, it's-it's not that.

Uh, our suspect's here.

How convenient.

Good luck.

So.

How long do you plan on

keeping up this little charade?

I don't know.

He's gonna find out, you know.

He's a pretty good detective.

Ah.

- Still...

could've been better.

You know, your seat seems
a little bit low.

- Let me help you with that.
- Yeah.

How's that?

- Good.
- Good, perfect.

We'll cut to the chase, Cal.

We're here to see
why sales weren't stronger.

We know it wasn't the product.

I mean, it's the best sunscreen
on the market.

But we have a theory.

Your late boss, Glenn Travers,

he wasn't too popular.

See, it seems like everybody 'round here

had a little issue with him.

We just want to know what yours was.

See how that factored into things.

Look, as long as you're straight with us,

I can personally guarantee you
you will not lose your job.

I don't know what to tell you.

So, about that...

I guess he told you
that the farm is going under.

We're shutting down.

Oh.

Anyway, he called.

He said he needed to see me.

You know what it's about?

Um...

It's about Ellie, isn't it?

You know, she can get fussy, but...

couple of apples a day
usually fixes that.

I... I'm sure that's what it was. Ellie.

Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome.

Hey.

Bye, girl.

You're gonna be real happy here.

These are good people.

So long.

Looks like Thomas isn't the
only softie around here.

Hey, Cal.

We need to talk.

I know what this is about.

You do?

Yeah. I'm gone.

You're firing me.

No, it's much worse than that.

What do you mean?

We're not corporate consultants.

We're private investigators.

I don't understand.

Cal, I hired them

to find out who murdered Glenn.

What?

Murdered? What are you...

Glenn fell down the stairs.

We think he was poisoned first.

Best guess is arsenic,
which can cause heart attacks.

You put it in his coffee, didn't you?

The one you got for him every afternoon?

Look, if you just admit what you did,

things'll go so much easier for you.

Okay, I got him coffee, yes.

He was leaving the office a
lot in the middle of the day,

and was always cranky when he got back.

He was just easier to deal with

after he got some caffeine in him.

But I didn't poison him.

Then how do you explain
the Tuesday before Glenn died,

you were researching poison on
your office computer after work?

Tuesday...

That's not possible.

I was not in the office that night.

I was with my wife
at our son's school play.

Not according to the security log

in the parking garage.

Says here that you were parked
until 10:32 p.m.

Yeah, that's 'cause

I snuck out of the office early
that night.

I knew that Glenn sometimes
checked those logs

and I didn't want him to know I took off.

So I left my car in the garage,
took an Uber to school,

then came back after the play.

If you don't believe me,
you can check with the school.

I was not in the office. I was not here.

Looks like Cal was telling the truth.

He was at the play.

So he's in the clear.

Maybe.

But it also means someone else

was using Cal's computer
to research poison.

Yes, but why... to frame him?

Cover their tracks?

So, the pathologist that we retained

did some tests on the late Mr. Travers

to see if there were
any substances from that list

in his system.

They found one,

but it wasn't the one I was expecting.

What was it?

It was an antacid.

- Antacid?
- Mm-hmm.

You mean, the kind of stuff
you use for an upset stomach?

Exactly. Except that Mr. Travers had

five times the suggested amount
in his system.

Could that cause a heart attack?

An irregular heartbeat, perhaps.

In some cases, a coma.

But the associated symptoms

would be nausea, vomiting,
abdominal pain, headache.

Mr. Travers would have been
utterly miserable.

So maybe this was an accident after all.

Guy just fell down the stairs.

Maybe, but it still doesn't explain

why a Sun-Smooth employee
was researching poisons.

Nor why Mr. Travers had an excess

of one of those substances
on the list in his system.

I think, clearly,
someone meant to do him harm.

So this ain't over.

No. Definitely not over.

Just got more complicated.

So here's a list of people
that were in the building

the day the search was done
on Cal's computer.

- Which means...
- One of 'em's our perp.

I'm way ahead of you, dawg.

Man, why don't you just tell us

if any of them had it out for Glenn?

Okay, sure. Uh, let's see. We got...

Buh-buh-buh-buh- buh-buh-buh. Mm...

Susie Nakamura, Glenn's old assistant.

Got hammered at the corporate
retreat. You should've seen her.

She was talking trash about him.

Definitely worth a look.

- Mm-hmm.
- Um... Buh-buh

buh-buh... Oh.

Malcolm Hayes was convinced

Glenn had it in for him.

- Mm-hmm.
- I mean,

I think I like him for this, too.

Okay.

Uh, who else we got...

Ooh. Josh Lieberman.

Got passed over for a promotion,

but Josh is way too much
of a wuss to kill anyone.

So, um, what's-what's our next move?

What are we doing? What are we doing?

Well, your next move would probably be

to go up to the office and just

await further instruction.

So you're saying I-I should go

back to the office.

Yeah, we'll let you know
if we need anything else, dawg.

All right, roger that.

Thanks, Todd.

We should probably look
into those three people.

And in the meantime, I'm also gonna

text Higgins, see if she can track down

that CCTV footage from the building.

I thought you two already did
that and came up empty.

Well, we did, but I want to see
if she can track down

- Cal's coffee run the day Glenn died.
- Ah.

So you think somebody
spiked it along the way?

Well, it's still
the perfect delivery system.

And although it may not have been Cal,

it could be somebody else.

So we heard a rumor you
were being very critical

of your old boss at the retreat, Susie.

Yeah, you seemed pretty worked up.

Could you talk about that?

I was just under a lot of stress.

I mean, if you think it's tough

being a sales rep under Glenn,

you can't imagine what it's
like being his assistant.

It was so much pressure.

He could work you pretty hard, huh?

It wasn't just that.

Susie, you can trust us.

It's better if you tell us everything.

It's just...

I'm not supposed to say.

Uh...

Glenn didn't want me telling anyone.

Well, I don't mean to sound cold, but...

Glenn has passed.

It's okay to talk about it.

Okay.

Glenn would leave the office
a lot in the afternoon.

Yeah, we heard about that.

We checked his calendar,

and he had client meetings
at those times.

No, he didn't.

He just put the appointments in there

so no one would get suspicious.

So what was he doing?

He was undergoing chemo treatment

for, like, the last several months.

Glenn had cancer?

It was so hard lying
to everyone about it.

I-I just wanted to respect his wishes.

He was very sick.

We understand, Susie.

You were just trying to be loyal.

I think, uh,

that's all the questions
we have for today.

Thank you.

Okay.

So there was a mood change
several months ago.

This could be the reason why.

Yeah, I'd be surly, too, if I had cancer

and was undergoing chemo.

Hold on.

Let me, uh...

make a call.

Noelani, it's Magnum.

I have a question for you. If someone

was undergoing chemotherapy
and they took, say,

five times the normal amount
of an antacid,

uh, what would happen?

Okay, thanks.

The combination of chemotherapy
and that much antacid

could cause a heart attack.

So this just went back to being a murder.

Or, at very least, manslaughter.

Higgins.

- What'd you find?
- So, the day he died,

Cal went out to get
Glenn's coffee from Island Roast

and bring it back
to the office, as usual.

But on the way back, he was delayed,

because he bumped into
some coworkers in the lobby,

and he had to take the coffee up
to the office kitchen

to warm it up.
And it appears that someone

may have had the opportunity to spike it.

Who?

Jim Peele, uh, from I.T.

He came into the kitchen
while Cal was in there

warming up the coffee, and

from the camera angle
it's hard to tell for sure,

but he's definitely close enough

to have put something in the cup.

Do you think it's possible
Jim used your computer

when you were at your son's play?

Yeah, it is.

I'd been having trouble with my e-mail,

so I asked I.T. to take a look.

Jim never said if he did, but,

as I recall, I stopped having
e-mail issues the next day.

So, maybe on top of fixing your e-mail,

he also took the opportunity
to do some research on poison.

Well, why use my computer for that?

Maybe he wanted another suspect out there

in case people got suspicious of him.

Do you think there's any reason
why Jim would want Glenn dead?

Actually, yes.

Jim probably came across
this e-mail to me from Glenn.

Oh, wow.

Glenn was gonna let Jim go.

If he came across this when he was

on your computer, maybe it set him off,

and he started looking at
ways to get back at Glenn,

including poisoning him.

Yeah, I think we definitely have our guy.

I'll go track him down.

Thanks, Cal. Appreciate it.

I'm gonna call Katsumoto
and then fill in Kahele.

Find Jim. Bring him in for a little chat.

What if he doesn't want to come?

TC, the beauty of having you as a partner

is you're big and intimidating.

He's not gonna say no to you.

All right, I'll be back
in a few minutes with our boy.

Who are those two guys you're talking to?

And don't tell me
they're corporate consultants.

'Cause I know that they're not.

Hey, Jim.

Jim, need to talk to you, buddy.

I was thinking the same thing.

Why don't we go for a walk?

Something's not right.

Why is that?

TC should have been back by now.

Hey, this is TC.

Leave a message.

You know what, call HPD.

Ask for Detective Katsumoto and tell him

Magnum said there's a potential
killer loose in this building.

And lock this door.

He knows. He knows everything.

Look, man,

you don't have to
make things worse on yourself.

I didn't mean to kill Glenn.

I-I just meant to make him sick

'cause I-I thought he was gonna fire me.

How was I supposed to know he had cancer?

Man, I-I believe that.

I'm sure the cops will, too.

You didn't mean to hurt anybody.

You're just saying that.

Uh-uh.

Get in the car. You drive.

Come on! Go on, get in.

Go!

Okay.

Where we going?

You got a helicopter, right?

You're gonna fly us off the Island.

- You know I'm a pilot?
- Yeah, that's right.

I did some checking based on
what Todd told me. Just drive.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking:

playing a game of chicken to save

one of your best friends...
not a great rescue plan.

But right now,

it's the only one I got.

Wh-What's he doing?

If we're going down, so are you.

What?

- Are you crazy? T-Turn the car.
- Nope.

Turn the car! Turn it!

Turn it, turn it, turn it!

TC.

Come on. Come on.

Come on.

Stay there.

Door's locked.

HPD! Drop the gun.

O-Okay. Put your hands on your head.

- Do it now.
- Okay, okay, okay.

Okay.

Okay.

To the victors go the free beers.

Ah. Mahalo.

I got to ask, though,

were you really gonna crash into him?

Oh, come on, who said
I couldn't be intimidating?

Oh, you were
most definitely intimidating.

And you owe me big time, Higgy.

Pretty sure I got
a concussion covering for you.

Yes, I-I truly appreciate it, TC.

Thank you, and, uh, sorry.

- Cheers.
- Cheers.

Could I just have a quick word with you?

Sure.

Thanks.

Um, so I have

a small confession to make.

- Um...
- Let me guess.

Your shoulder's fine.

How do you know that?

I found out Todd Stewart
worked for Sun-Smooth.

I figured you knew that

and were looking for an excuse
not to work the case.

Then you know...

That you went out with him
when he was married, yes.

When his ex-wife hired me,

I looked into everybody
he had been out with,

and that list included you.

Okay, I-I just want you to know
that it was one date,

and I swear I didn't know
that he was married.

Honestly, you don't have
to tell me anything.

No, I do. I want to be honest with you.

I met him at

one of Robin Masters' charity events.

And I guess I was just...

a bit blind.

It was when I'd just
come to the Island, and...

I was lonely.

Why didn't you say anything?

Because I didn't want to embarrass you.

You didn't tell me,

so I didn't want to make you tell me.

That was kind of you.

Look, you let your guard down, okay?

It's... it's not a big deal.

Thanks.

Does this mean I get to keep the goat?

No, it does not mean that you
get to keep the goat, Magnum.

Why not? There's plenty
of space for a goat.

- Goats are so cute.
- How are you

gonna look after a goat?
You can't look after yourself.

Oh, that's not true. Not entirely true.

Somewhat true.
