Magnum P.I. (2018): Season 2, Episode 1 - Episode #2.1 - full transcript

Previously onMagnum P.I...

MAGNUM:
When Robin Masters

offered me the job
as live-in security consultant

as a way to supplement
my P.I. business,

I jumped at it.

[Magnum yells]

Higgins![barking]

This is Juliet Higgins.

She lives in the main house,
works here

as Robin's majordomo.

We work really
well together.

[all grunting]

HIGGINS: Magnum, are you about to ask me

to become your partner?

Higgins and Magnum
Private Investigations.

Still up for consideration.

I just need a little more time.

Katsumoto.

When Dotson hired you,

did he mention a girl?

Any woman in his life?

No.KATSUMOTO:
Okay.

You know you just lied to a cop.

KATSUMOTO:
You know, just when I was
starting to trust you,

you go and do something stupid
like this.

Do yourself a favor,
Magnum. Try to cooperate.

Who the hell are you?I'm a private investigator.

So you're a private dick.
Stay away from me, got it?

HIGGINS:
You like her.

I do not like her.

If you like her,

you'll bring her flowers
and apologize.

I don't like her.Liar.

I'm sorry.

I was just doing my job.

But would you go out
with me again?

I've got the Phoenix.

Where?

You're not gonna believe it.

Damn.
She's good.

TC:
Stay on her, White Knight.
You got this.

He better.
That thumb drive she stole

is full of classified intel.

That gets out,
you know what that means.

Yeah, spies everywhere

will be found and executed.

Yeah, and probably
tortured in between.

Right.
So no pressure.

Pressure's your
middle name, baby.

[both laugh]

ABBY:
Hold up.
"Pressure's your middle name"?

Seriously?
Who says that?

You can put it down
whenever you want.

Oh, don't get me wrong.
I like it.

It's a little cheesy,
but it's a good read.

I don't know.
I'm barely on chapter five,

and I have to say, I think it's
one of Robin's best ones yet.

Huh.

And all of these books
are based on real missions?

According to
Robin, yes.

This White Knight character--
he's what,

like, a composite based
on a whole bunch of real people?

Maybe.

I don't know.
Nobody really knows.

You have to admit,
he's kind of like

a romance novel cliché.
Look.

MAGNUM:
Actually, he's based on me,

but until I know Abby
a little better,

I should probably
keep that to myself. "Compassionate,

monogamous."
Really?

What if I told you...
he was a real person?

Well, I'd marry him tomorrow.

Really?Yeah.

Hold that thought.Okay.

Be right back.

Okay.

[both chuckle]

[Zeus growling]

Easy.
Easy, boy.

[growling]It's o-it's okay.

Easy.
Easy, boy.

Shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh.[barks, growls]

Easy boy. Come on.
Calm down. Hey, Higgins?!

Higgins?[both continue growling]

It's okay.

Higgins!

Shh.

Easy, boy.

Good boys.
Stand down.

Evening, Magnum.

I can't believe you had these
hyenas guarding the wine cellar.

How did you even know
I was gonna be down here?

Oh, it was quite
simple, really.

I spotted you creeping
across the grounds

with a bottle of 2006
Chateau Latour Bordeaux,

and I estimated how
long it would take

two lusting individuals
to finish a bottle

without proper decanting,

and thus deduced when you would
be back to steal another.

You need a hobby.

I have one.
It's catching thieves.

No. Actually, I think

it's busting my stones for
your own personal amusement.

You know, I thought this
kind of thing was gonna end

now that we're gonna
be business partners.

Need I remind you
I have yet to accept your offer.

Oh, right.

You're still thinking about it.

That's right.

You know what I don't get

is last week,
you said you wanted

to sit down
to go over my offer,

check out the books, make sure

you were making
an informed decision.

Mm-hmm.Yet, every time I try to talk
about it, you put it off.

Do you enjoy just making me
wait for an answer?

Being majordomo of this estate

is a huge responsibility,
Magnum.

I'm a very busy woman.

Yet you still find time
to stake out a wine cellar.

You know what? I'm actually
glad you keep putting it off,

because, I've been thinking.

Maybe this whole partner thing
is... is just not a great idea.

You know, it's not like
I need you.

Really, Magnum?
Reverse psychology?

You think that ploy will work?

What am I, six?

It's not a ploy.
I just realized

that I am better off
without you.

Plus, I'd have
to make new business cards.[chuckles]

You need me and you know it.

I can get my own laptop.

You know how many times
I've heard that?

[Kumu clears throat]

MAGNUM:
Hey, Kumu.Hey.

Is everything all right?

Uh, some man named Charlie
just called the house line

looking for Thomas.

Sounded like an emergency.

He said he needed
to see you right away.

Then the phone call cut out.

I-I tried him back right away,
but it went to voice mail.

So this is all you got--
the phone number?

I'm sorry, Thomas.

Oh.

So now you need me.

Can you ping the number?

Front door looks open.

Mr. Owens?

It's Thomas Magnum.

You called?

Mr. Owens?

Thomas Magnum. You called
the house looking for me.

MAN:
In here.

[pounding]

In here.

Mr. Owens.

I'm locked inside!

Okay, stay back from the door.

Oh, thank you,
thank you, thank you.

Leanna?

What happened?
Who locked you in there?

It was my wife. Leanna?

Your wife
locked you in?

She's been acting
a little crazy lately.

Any idea why?

A couple weeks ago the bank
she works at got held up.

She just hasn't been the same
person since it happened.

Uh, the Makai Bank?

I heard about it.
It was all over the news.

The bank manager was killed

'cause he wouldn't let
the robbers into the vault.

That was Albert.
He and Leanna were close.

She took it hard.

Then tonight, I confronted
her over something I saw

on her computer
and she lost it.

She locked me in there.
I did not want the police

to see what was on there,
so I called you.

What was it that you found?

MAGNUM:
"How to buy a gun
on the black market."

She'd been researching it
for over a week.

Wouldn't tell me why.

The day the bank
got robbed,

she wasn't even supposed
to be there,

but after I stopped working,

she's been picking up
extra shifts.

You can't blame yourself
for what happened.

Mr. Owens... don't worry.

Okay?
We'll find your wife.

HIGGINS:
Magnum, Leanna was involved

in a bank robbery.

She probably wanted
the gun for protection.

Then why not say that?

And if she wasn't feeling safe,

why leave the safety
of your own home?

Then she locks her
husband in a closet...

None of what she's
doing is making sense.

KUMU: Well, you won't find
any answers in her financials.

This woman might be the most
boring human on the planet.

Why do you say that?

Well, according
to her debit card bill,

she has lunch at the
Likelike Diner almost every day.

And it's always
for the same amount, $8.25.

Okay, so she's getting
the same thing every time.

Then on Tuesdays,
she takes out $100

from an ATM across town.

Why drive across town to go to
an ATM when you work at a bank?

I don't know,

but it happened like clockwork

until a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds like Leanna's
a creature of habit.

Yeah, like I said: boring.

Okay, we're gonna hop
off, but thanks, Kumu.

I only followed
Miss Higgins' instructions.

Kumu, you make
an excellent hacker.

Just don't tell anyone
with a badge. Aloha.

Aloha.Aloha.

We got to find some way
to get into Leanna's head.

You know, she wouldn't talk
to her husband Charlie

about the robbery, but she
had to talk to the police.

[phone rings]

What?

MAGNUM: Katsumoto.

Hey, did you get
my macadamia nuts?

Every day
for the last three weeks.

Delicious, right?

Well, I wouldn't know,
since I'm allergic to nuts.

Oh. So, epic fail there, huh?

Not if you were
trying to kill me.

Now, what do you want?
And don't say you need a favor.

Uh, I just need a little
help with something.

I'm ten minutes away.I won't be here.

Uh, please.
I... I-It's important.

I just need you to slip me
a report. It's not a big deal.

I'm hanging up now.

Keep calling me,
I'll book you for stalking.

What do you think--

still mad about
what happened in Myanmar?

Course he is.

Magnum, you were
harboring a fugitive.

I had no choice.

That's rubbish.

You could have told him

exactly what was happening
with Hannah

and trusted him not to say
anything, but you didn't.

And now you're paying the price.

So, that's it?
You're just giving up?

No. I'm gonna go see Rick,
see if one of his HPD buddies

can slip us the report.

How'd you know
I was here?Tracked your phone.

Oh, come on, like you've
never had a panda eye before.

What happened?

Uh, I had to throw down with
some guy at the club last night.

So now you're beating up
your customers.

Is that good for business?

Guy was being a dick.

Said he was an influencer

and because he threw the club
on the 'Gram,

he thought he should
get free drinks.

I'm like, "Hey, Fyre Festival.

All your followers are bots."

And I guess
that got him really upset,

because this millennial
assclown took a swing at me

when I turned
my back.

Anyway, no big deal.

Thanks for bailing me out.
I'll pay you back.

Look, don't worry about it.

Pay us back with a favor.

Oh. So you need something.

Here I was thinking
you actually cared about me.

We do care.Yeah.

We just also happen
to need a favor.

RICK:
My HPD buddy said
that cell phone video

was taken by one
of the bank hostages.

MAGNUM:
Okay, there's Leanna.

[distorted]: You, come with me.[gasping]

HIGGINS:
And I assume that
that is Albert Kipono,

Leanna's friend,
the bank manager.

[quietly]:
Don't do it. Don't do it.

Please, leave her alone.

MAN [distorted]:
I told you, get back down.

[gunfire][gasping, screaming]

[sighs]

What did you do?

Albert! Albert!

Okay, so Albert jumps
into hero mode,

comes to Leanna's defense,
and takes a bullet for it.

That poor woman
must be consumed with guilt.

Yeah. She could be looking
to hurt herself,

which would explain her trying
to get her hands on a gun.

[phone rings]

Yes, Kumu?

I think we were wrong.

Leanna's not a creature of habit
after all.

Turns out, this morning,
she withdrew $500

from an ATM
at the Sportsmen's Firing Range.

Shooting range?Kumu, are you sure?

I'm positive.

Okay, well, she's
definitely not thinking suicide.

Why would you go
to a shooting range

if you're trying
to kill yourself?

Yeah, I'm with Thomas.
That'd be weird.

Agreed. So this
isn't about grief

or remorse.Then what's it about?

Leanna lost
someone close to her.

It-it could be
that she feels responsible.

We know she's been distant
from her husband

and intent
on buying a gun.

And-and now she's going
to a firing range?

Which means this isn't about
being suicidal or being scared.

It's about revenge.

[muffled gunshots]

Higgy, you mind if
I borrow your phone?

Got to call Abby.

What's wrong with your phone?

Battery's dead.

Hey, Abby. It's Thomas.

Just wanted to call and see if
you had finished Robin's book.

Hit me up when you're free.

Okay.

"Hit me up when you're free."

Wow, you really do
speak in poetry.

It's no wonder Abby
finds you irresistible.

Don't be jealous.

Look, some guy
will be asking you

to hit him up
when you're free

when, I don't know,

hell freezes over.
[chuckles]

MANAGER:
Sorry to keep you waiting.

So, how can I help you?

Wanted to know if you
recognize this woman.

Name's Leanna.

Yeah, she was in
this morning.

She's actually been coming in
a lot the last two weeks.

Why are you asking about her?

Because, as of last night,

she was reported missing.

Well, she seemed fine
this morning.

That's a nice watch.

It's a Rolex,
right?

Uh, yeah.

It's pretty sharp.

How long have you had it?

Not that long.

You mind if I...
check it out?

I'm kind of
a Rolex guy myself.Yeah, I'm sorry,

I really got to get back. You know what's funny
about that watch?

Is that watch

looks...

like this watch.

HIGGINS:
So it would appear you're
wearing a timepiece that belongs

to a now missingwoman.

I'm sure you can appreciate
how that looks.

Perhaps you'd like to talk
to us, as opposed to HPD.

It was compensation.

Okay?

She wanted to buy a gun,
some ammo.

Under the table.

Daily target practice
and an untraceable gun. I mean,

I would say that revenge is
a pretty solid theory right now.

Yeah, but Leanna would have
to know who these thieves are.

And like everybody else in the
bank, she couldn't identify 'em.

But sometimes witnesses
recall details after the fact.

It's possible that Leanna
remembered something

that was said or something
that she saw that day

that helped her
identify the men.

You know what I keep
bumping up on though?

Is why did she alert
the authorities.

I mean, uh, she decides to
go after these guys herself

and get some payback?

I mean, she's, like,
an ordinary citizen.

I know it sounds
like a stretch,

but Leanna
felt responsible

for what happened
to Albert Kipono.

A loss like that
can cut so deep

that Leanna might have felt
compelled to do something,

no matter
how irrational,

no matter the cost.

MAGNUM:
Higgins has
some personal experience

when it comes to revenge,

so my gut is telling me
to trust her on this one.

[phone dings]

What's that?

Text from Kumu.

Leanna just bought
a new cell phone.

Can you ping
her location?

Yeah.

She's half a mile
from the airport.

That's 30 minutes,
45 with traffic.

We're definitely gonna
need some backup.

Your girl's in there.

MAGNUM:
What's she doing
in a tattoo shop?

That's for you to find out,
my brother.

I got customers waiting.

People that pay me for my time.

Later.

[starts engine]

[engine turns off]

You wait here.

I'm gonna go do some recon.

I'm coming with you.

I don't think it's a good idea.

You stick out.

How do you figure?

Well, you don't look
like the kind of person

that would think about getting
a tattoo, much less have one.

Huh. Well,
that shows how much you know.

I actually happen
to have a tattoo.

No, I've seen you in a
sports bra and a swimsuit.

I did not see a tattoo.

And where it is, you never will.

OWNER:
Yeah, she was here
a few minutes ago.

Left out the back.

She must've seen TC tailing her.

Yeah. It's
hard not to.

He was driving that
rainbow on wheels.

It's not like
he blends in.

Says the P.I.
who drives a Ferrari.

What did she want?

She came in asking
about some ink

she saw on some guy
she met recently.

Showed me a sketch
that she made of it.

Asked me if the work
was done here.

Was it?

Yeah. One of Dex's clients.

A guy named
Colin Wells.

Any idea why she was interested
in this particular tattoo?

Said she met a guy
at the bar last week.

Said they were vibing, but
she didn't get his number.

Said she'd been
hitting up the parlors

up and down
the south shore

to see if any of 'em
done the art

and knew how
to find the guy.

[phone dings]Excuse me.

It had to be one of the men
in the bank with that tattoo.

And that's how Leanna's
trying to track them.

Yeah-- Please tell me
you didn't give her

that guy's information.

She gave me a hundred
dollars cash.

We're gonna need that info.

Thank you.

I asked one of
my old MI6 buddies

to run the name
Colin Wells.

It appears
he has a record.

Multiple B&E's and
spent time in Halawa.

He's got to be one
of the thieves.

We got to find him
before she finds Wells.

You guys get what you need?

Yeah.

Would you mind
not leaning on the car?

Oh, yeah. I'm sorry.

Forgive me.

Might I suggest
you remove your arse

from the hood of the car
before I do it for you?

How come so many people
are interested

in one of my clients?

I believe we asked you kindly

to remove yourself
from the motorcar.

Happy?
Now answer my question.

You know, honesty, it's...

it's none of your business.

[grunts]

Maybe you guys'll
be more talkative

with a gun to your head.

You know, I think we got
off on the wrong foot.

To be honest, I'm
a private investigator.

This is my trainee.

Uh, I am not your trainee.

Fine. Intern.

[chuckles]:
I am definitely not that.

Well, you're not on the payroll,
and you're not my partner,

so what are you?Okay, what is your

obsession with me
becoming your partner?

What obsession?
It's not an obsession.Oh, please.

Pushing and pushing,
I mean,

why is it so
incredibly important?

You want me to tell
you what's important?Uh, yes,

am I being too subtle?

I think I'm better
at my job withyou

than I am withoutyou.

Really?

Yes! There.
I said it.

You two lovebirds
done yet?

Almost.

Stop, stop,
let him go.

He's gonna warn Wells!Leanna's probably going

after Wells right now.
We got to stop her. Come on.

HIGGINS:
There. That's Wells's
house on the right.

[tires screech]

According to Leanna's
cell phone, she's still here.

HIGGINS:
It's Wells.

Magnum,
she's still here.

[door slams]

MAGNUM:
Higgins?

Go around.Yeah.

Drop the gun!Who are you?

My name is Thomas Magnum.
I'm a private investigator.

Please...
put down the gun.

No-- Hold on,
she's with me!

It's okay, Leanna.

How do you know my name?

Charlie hired us.

What?

We know you came here
to kill Wells.

But I didn't kill him.

He was already dead
when I got here.

You have blood
on your hands.

Because I was trying
to save him.

Leanna... I believe you.

You're just saying that.

No. I'm not.

Look, Dex, the guy
from the tattoo shop,

he let you leave
with Wells' address

because he knew
he was already dead.

What are you
talking about?

One of the men
in the last tattoo shops

you visited... we think
he's connected to the thieves.

So now he and the third member
of the robbery team

know that you're trying
to find them.

MAGNUM:
You're in danger.

Okay, we need to keep you safe.

HIGGINS:
Listen to me, please.

Two hours ago, you had
the advantage of surprise.

Which might have given you
a chance at pulling this off,

despite your inexperience.
But now they know.

They're going to find you,

and they are going
to try to kill you.

And we don't want
that to happen.

HIGGINS:
Look at me.
Leanna...

I understand why
you're doing this.

No, you don't.

You couldn't possibly.

You're wrong. You're wrong.

Now, please, just
put the gun down.

And let us help you.

You can trust us.

It's okay.

HIGGINS:
It's okay.

It's okay.

It's okay.
It's okay.

[knock on door]

Show me.

Really good to be working
with you again, Katsumoto.

So, who's this
woman you're after?

Gonna find out anyway.

Leanna Owens.

The assistant manager
from the bank?

Yeah. Yeah, she was
looking for payback.

And where is Mrs. Owens?

She's with Higgins right now.

TC flew her back
to Robin's Nest.

You just let your friends
take off with a suspect?

She didn't shoot this guy.
He was shot with a .45.

She had a .38. Plus,
I checked her weapon.

It hadn't been fired.

Great, you're telling me

you touched evidence
from a murder case.

Well, it's not evidence
if she didn't pull the trigger.

You know, I love how you
decided that on your own.

Let's get our roles straight.

I investigate crimes
and clear suspects.

And I...Get in my way.

You want to know what I think?

Not really.

One of his two accomplices
pulled the trigger.

Okay. Why?

Couldn't have been about money.
They didn't get away with any.

Yeah, but maybe they blamed that
on Wells.

Or-or maybe they thought
he was gonna roll on them.

All right, let's start
from the beginning.

How did Leanna end up here?

She tracked him down herself
through Wells's tattoo.

Actually, the artist who
did the work, this guy Dex,

we think he's one
of the bank robbers.

He works at a place called Iron
Body Tattoo out by the airport.

You're definitely gonna
want to check this guy out.

Really? Is that
what I should do?

Look, I'm just trying to help.

Hold up. Let me see your hands.

You wash them?No.

Then who touched this guy?
I got blood smear and prints.

Leanna.

You mean the woman
who might have shot him?

[chuckles] I'm telling you,
she didn't shoot this guy.

Magnum, leave before I arrest
you for giving me a migraine.

That's not even an
arrestable offense.Go.

I didn't tell the police

about the tattoo
because I was scared.

The man who shot Albert
had threatened me.

done their homework on
you and your coworkers.

They said they'd kill Charlie
if I talked to the HPD.

I told myself at first

I was doing the smart thing,
staying quiet.

But after a few days,

I decided
I couldn't just do nothing.

But I also didn't want
to put Charlie at risk.

It took a lot of guts
to do what you did.

But had you had followed through
with your revenge mission,

life as you know it...

would have been over.

Vendettas have...

life-changing consequences.

MAGNUM:
Maybe it's being alone
in the car

with a long drive back
to Robin's Nest,

but my little voice
was telling me that

Katsumoto may not have been
wrong suspecting Leanna.

I still don't think
she killed Wells,

but something about the blood
on her hands wasn't adding up.

If Leanna wanted Wells dead,
then why try to save him?

I can really only think
of one reason. [line rings]

KUMU: Hello?Hey, Kumu, it's me.

Uh, you mentioned Leanna takes
100 bucks a week out of an ATM.

Do you have any idea
where that's located?

[bell dings]

Need a room?

No, actually, just...

a little information.

Have you seen this woman?

Yeah. Leanna.

She was coming in
once a week for a while.

But not with him.

Okay.

What about this guy?

Yeah.

[chuckles]:
That's lover boy.

MAGNUM:
When a theory proves true,

it usually feels pretty good.

But not today.

Leanna Owens,
stand up, please.

What's going on?

Turn around.
Put your hands behind your back.

But wait, I didn't kill him.

Maybe not,
but you're still under arrest.

Leanna, we know what you did.
We know about Wells.

You know that diner
you used to go to every day?

Wells worked there, right?

That's where you met him.
You fell for him.

He offered you an escape
from your everyday life.

And then at some point,
you two hatched a plan

to rob a bank.

He said he knew
a couple of guys that can help,

and, I-I don't know,
maybe it was

their idea.
Maybe they had him seduce you.

But either way,
you went along with it.

Soon as the plan went sideways,
your boyfriend disappeared.

Go ahead and stop me
whenever you want.

Uh, speaking for myself,
can you keep going?

I'd like to know
what happened.

Same here.

Yeah, me, too.

She wanted to go after
her accomplices.

Problem was Wells never
introduced her to his partners.

And because they always met
at a motel,

she never knew
where Wells lived.

Then she used his tattoo
to track him down.

MAGNUM:
Then you tipped off Dex,
and he...

called the third guy up,
had him put a bullet in Wells

right before you got there.

He promised
no one was gonna get hurt.

Let's go.

[phone ringing]

Wait, hold-hold up.
It's her husband, Charlie.

Hey, Charlie.

How's it going?

Did you find Leanna?

Yeah. Yeah, she's okay.

But I'd like
to talk to you in person.

MAN:
Charlie isn't at
home, Mr. Magnum.

Charlie, who's there with you?

Please! Don't-don't hurt him.

Oh, don't worry.
Your man's gonna be okay

as long as everyone cooperates. What do you want?

This is Detective Katsumoto.MAN:
You look like a smart guy...

I need a trace on a cellular.

There was 20 million sitting
in that bank vault

that should've been ours.

As far as we know,
it's still there.

See where I'm going with this?

You want us to get it for you.

Not you. Her.

She's gonna go
into the bank at noon,

fill a backpack
with as much cash as it'll hold.

Benjis only.
No dye packs, no bait money.

Now, once Leanna's
got the money,

she's gonna leave the bank
and get in her car.

We'll call and tell her
where to drop the money.

And if I see
anyone following Leanna,

what do you think will happen
to our friend Charlie here?

You'll hurt him.

That's a little vague.

Let's try one more time.

You'll kill him.

Gold star, Mr. Magnum.

Gold star.

Anything?

They weren't on long enough.

RICK:
Okay. So, what now?

12:00 noon.
That's 30 minutes from now.

Doesn't give us much time.

They did that intentionally.

They knew the deadline
would preclude

any large-scale HPD involvement.

Which means our best move
is to wait for the deadline,

then ask for more time.

Yeah, there's no way
they're gonna go for that.

Thomas?

Hey.

Abby.

ABBY:
I just came by
to return your book.

And maybe
to steal you for lunch.

Everything all right?

Actually, uh,
now's not the best time.

I have a situation
with a client.

Could-could you just
give me a minute?

Yeah.KATSUMOTO: Listen, right now,
these guys want to disappear,

and that means
money. Big money.

Money that Leanna can get
from the bank. They'll wait.

You hope.

Let me do it.

This is all my fault.

Albert's dead because of me.
I can't let them hurt Charlie.

Let me go in.

Out of the question.If-if you don't,

and they refuse to extend
the deadline, Charlie dies.

Look, let her
get the cash

u-uh, take it to them, w-we can
monitor from a distance.

Magnum, you can't be serious.
This woman is a criminal.

You want me
to let her rob a bank

that she tried
to rob once before?

It wouldn't be robbing a bank.

It would be a temporary loan
unbeknownst to the institution.

That won't hold up in court.

Thank you.
But the insanity
defense might work.

Although, the burden of proof
would be on the defendant.

All due respect, Counselor,
I'm gonna take this idea

off the table.Okay.

This is the only idea
that should be on the table.

Even if I was inclined,

we would need eyes
in the bank and outside.

That's a surveillance team,
that's 30 cops.

It would take days to set up
an op like that.

We have minutes.Me and Rick will help.

Yeah, I'm game.

There you go. Aerial support.

This is crazy.

If you have a-a better idea
that doesn't involve

waiting out the clock,
I'm listening.

There are a thousand ways
this could go wrong.

Yeah. This is not a great plan,
but we have 30 minutes,

and this is the only plan
we have.

Let's go.

[indistinct chatter]

Leanna's heading for the vault.

TC, Rick, you guys in position?

Right above you, bro.

Leanna's heading for the exit.

[gun clicks]

You've been filling that deposit
slip out for 15 minutes.

I have early arthritis.

You think I'm stupid, cop?

HIGGINS:
That van is blocking the exit.

This can't be a coincidence.

Katsumoto, do not
let her leave the bank.

Katsumoto?

Get in the van.

Get in the van or Charlie dies.

Charlie.[muffled shouting]

Get in.

[muffled shouting][whimpers]

[banging]

[zip tie tightens]

[grunts, cries]

Gordon, do you copy?

Where are you?!

Respond, damn it!

[tires screeching]

They've got Leanna!
She's in the van!

Yeah, I see 'em.What did I tell you, Magnum?

MAGNUM:
Katsumoto was right.

There were a thousand ways
this could have gone wrong.

And now we only have one chance to make it right.

Guys, we got him.

Van's moving north on Ward.

They just hung a left
on Prospect.

Don't lose him![horn blaring]

[horns honking]

[tires screeching]

Where's that van?

He just turned right
off of Prospect.

I need you to get me
in front of it.

Then what are you gonna do?

I don't know,
just get me ahead of it.

RICK:
Take a right, now.

[tires screeching]

Okay, you've got an alley
about 20 yards to your right.

Good, now make the next left.

All right. Here you go.
You're gaining on him.

Okay, brother,
whatcha gonna do now?

Thomas, what the hell
are you doing?

[motor revving]

[gunshot]

[whimpers]

[sirens approaching]

Come on, Leanna.

Wait, what are you doing?

I'm sorry, Charlie.

I'm so sorry.

What is going on, Mr. Magnum?

I had someone
in my life once.

Someone who hurt me.

And that pain you're feeling,
you're gonna,

you're gonna carry it with you
for a long time.

But you're gonna
get up every day

and you're gonna
move forward.

You'll look back...

a lot.

But you're also
gonna move on.

And look, if you ever
need a friend,

I'll always pick up.

He's not just
a good investigator, is he?

He's... compassionate.

Yes, he is.

You know, when I was first
getting to know him,

I thought this job was just
a paycheck for Magnum.

Or a diversion.

But I soon realized that he

genuinely wants to help people.

[sighs]

I'm sorry,
I have to go.

Would you tell Thomas

I had to take care
of something?
Yeah.

You okay?

Yeah.

You doing anything later?

ABBY: Higgins ever give you an answer

on your partnership offer?

No, but I think
I'm wearing her down.

Answer's probably
gonna be "yes."

Good. [laughs]

You guys make
a good team.

Thank you.

You finished the,
uh, book, right?

Yeah, I did.

And?
It was great.

But I have a hard time believing
any of it actually happened.

Really?

Even that part
where the White Knight jumps out

of the convertible
onto the helicopter skid?

[laughs] Yeah,
especially that part.

I have to say, though,
I thought the character

of the White Knight was,
you know, too good to be true.

Heroes like that
don't exist.

But... after what
you did today,

and then afterwards when you
were talking to Charlie,

let's just say the
White Knight's got nothing

on you, Thomas Magnum.

Thank you.

Hi.
Hey.
What's up, guys?

Hey, how are you?
Kumu.

Lookin' good.

Where's Higgie?KUMU: Mm.

She said she'd be down
in a few minutes.

I texted Katsumoto,
but, eh, didn't hear back.

Surprise, surprise.RICK: Okay, all right.

Everybody quiet
down for a sec.

I have a big
announcement to make.

Um, last night, a profound
thing happened to me,

which forced me to
take stock in my life.

[chuckles] You talking
about getting arrested?Yes.

It had a very big effect
on me, all right?

I'm not made for jail.

You all know that.[laughs]

Look, it was a big
wake-up call.

All right? And-and after
thinking about it a lot,

I've decided that...

I am gonna quit
the King Kamehameha Club.

Really?

What are you gonna
do for money?

I have no idea.

Well, you're a bright boy,
you'll figure it out.

Thank you very much.

Oh, I did get
a court date, however,

which means I'm gonna need
a lawyer.

Are you cheap?

$700 an hour.Ah.

TC: Wow.But, for the unemployed,
pro bono.

Great.

"Pro bono,"
that means free, right?

Yes. It means free.[Kumu laughing]

Hello, everybody.

Hey.Want a brew?

No, thanks.
Actually, I can't stay.

I have a plane to catch.

Mm, okay.
Where are you going?

London.Everything okay?

Yeah, it's fine.
I'll be back in a few days.

I just wanted to say
a quick goodbye to everyone.

Have a good trip, Jules.Thanks.

Give the queen my best.

[British accent]:
Tally ho, old boy, tally ho.I'll be right back.

RICK: No, they don't
say "tally ho."

TC: They don't?RICK: No.

MAGNUM: Higgins.Yeah.

What's going on in London?

Family matters.
Nothing exciting.

Horrible liar.

Liar?You're meeting with MI6.

MI6?

Repeating everything I say

isn't gonna get you out
of answering the question.

They want you back.

That's why you've
been having trouble

committing to
our partnership.

Okay, how do you know that?

There were several
calls between your cell

and a blocked number,
which I traced back

to an SIS building
in Central London.

You checked my call log

when you borrowed
my phone to call Abby.

I had to. Something was going on
and you wouldn't tell me what.

So you invade my privacy.

Look, I can't say
I'm surprised.

After you took down Viper, I
figured it was a matter of time

before you were back in
Her Majesty's good graces.

Yes.

It appears that that
has squared things for me.

So you're gonna take the job?

Gonna hear them out.

I think I owe that much
to them and to myself.

I thought you left
that life behind.

I thought so, too,
but things have changed.

Yeah, but they disavowed
you. Why would you want
to work for them again?

That was on me, Magnum.

I mean, I let my emotions
run away with me

and I went on an
unsanctioned vendetta.

They were right
to cut me loose.

At the very least,
I need to face them

and own up to my actions.

I owe them that.

In some way,
they're my family still.

Well, you have family here, too.

[laughter]

Yes, Magnum,
I am aware of that.

Just gonna leave
all that behind?

Managing a large estate
in Hawaii

was never the plan for me.

Look, I-I'm sorry,
I really have to go.

Have a safe flight.

Wait, Magnum.

I know you won't...

but do try to stay out
of the wine cellar.

[chuckles]

I'll do my best.
