because the difference in grading
on this between a 7 and a 9,
we're literally talking

What?
-[suspenseful music playing]
-[Dave] Oh yeah.
Grading is a way that you can
actually assign a number grade
to a piece of memorabilia.
A number 1 is usually poor,
where a number 10
is usually gem mint condition.
If this card were to grade a 10…
You might be looking
at a million-dollar card right here.
-[Beth] You're kidding.
-[Dave chuckles] No.
-I don't even know what to say. [laughs]
-[Beth] Okay.
What do you think
by just looking at it here?
Would it be a 10?
Have you seen tens before? Um…
I feel like this card
is probably not gonna get the 10.
Obviously, it's very difficult
to get a 10.
I mean, a 10 is absolutely flawless.
And also on the chrome card,
any type of surface scratches
we might not even be able to see,
will be looked at under magnification.
That's why the 10 value
jumps up to the $1 million,
and then the next level below it
is $300,000 to $400,000.
So there's a big difference in perfection.
Obviously, I can't guarantee
any specific grades there,
but I'd love to see this go
all the way to the finish line.
That starts with you
leaving the card with me today,
and me jumping on a plane,
flying across the country,
and starting that grading process.
I mean, I've already got a cash offer
for, uh, $150,000 for this card as is,
so it's kind of, uh,
hard to turn that down,
you know, that amount of money. [chuckles]
-Yeah, I mean, that's…
-[pensive music playing]
That's a pretty good offer.
Someone will make an all-cash offer
because cash is king.
It usually motivates people to transact.

They'll go get it graded
and bring it to an auction like us
and make double or triple the money.
I appreciate you being honest with me
about the offer,
and I'll be transparent with you.
If we take this to grading
and it grades a 6 or less,
we might only get $100,000 for it.
If we were to grade an 8,
I feel like we'd be somewhere around
the $150,000 offer you have on the table.
Okay. And then what about an 8.5?
Yeah, I couldn't imagine seeing this
coming any lower than an 8.5.
Okay.
If we were to get the 8.5,
pretty confident we'd be over $200,000.
Somewhere between $200,000 and $250,000.
-That's a lot of money.

That'd be life-changing.
I mean if this card went for $250,000,

There are only 50 of these in the world.
-[Beth] You're kidding.
-[chuckles]
[Dave] No, not exaggerating at all.
[Alex] In 1993,
the trading card company Topps
released the first refractor cards,
which had a shiny, rainbow-like finish.
As refractors grew
in popularity and value,
the trading card industry began
releasing a limited number of refractors
in a variety of colors and finishes,
each more rare than the last.
For this Steph Curry card,
the gold is
the most sought-after refractor,
as only 50 were ever made.
Making this an impossibly rare find
and highly valuable.
It's number one of 50.
This is actually the first one
of the gold parallel that was created.
Steph Curry's a very collectible guy.
He's won multiple championships.
His values are
one of the biggest in the entire NBA.
Now, obviously, condition will mean a lot.
Let me look at this closer here.
It's not bad centering.
The corners are immaculate.
How did you keep it this clean
all this time?
My dad just always told me
to take care of my cards.
He collected when he was younger, so…
It's good he told you to take care of it,
because the difference in grading
on this between a 7 and a 9,
we're literally talking
hundreds of thousands of dollars.
What?
-[suspenseful music playing]
-[Dave] Oh yeah.
Grading is a way that you can
actually assign a number grade
to a piece of memorabilia.
A number 1 is usually poor,
where a number 10
is usually gem mint condition.
If this card were to grade a 10…
You might be looking
at a million-dollar card right here.
-[Beth] You're kidding.
-[Dave chuckles] No.
-I don't even know what to say. [laughs]
-[Beth] Okay.
What do you think
by just looking at it here?
Would it be a 10?
Have you seen tens before? Um…
I feel like this card
is probably not gonna get the 10.
Obviously, it's very difficult
to get a 10.
I mean, a 10 is absolutely flawless.
And also on the chrome card,
any type of surface scratches
we might not even be able to see,
will be looked at under magnification.
That's why the 10 value
jumps up to the $1 million,
and then the next level below it
is $300,000 to $400,000.
So there's a big difference in perfection.
Obviously, I can't guarantee
any specific grades there,
but I'd love to see this go
all the way to the finish line.
That starts with you
leaving the card with me today,
and me jumping on a plane,
flying across the country,
and starting that grading process.
I mean, I've already got a cash offer
for, uh, $150,000 for this card as is,
so it's kind of, uh,
hard to turn that down,
you know, that amount of money. [chuckles]
-Yeah, I mean, that's…
-[pensive music playing]
That's a pretty good offer.
Someone will make an all-cash offer
because cash is king.
It usually motivates people to transact.
But that person will do the right thing.
They'll go get it graded
and bring it to an auction like us
and make double or triple the money.
I appreciate you being honest with me
about the offer,
and I'll be transparent with you.
If we take this to grading
and it grades a 6 or less,
we might only get $100,000 for it.
If we were to grade an 8,
I feel like we'd be somewhere around
the $150,000 offer you have on the table.
Okay. And then what about an 8.5?
Yeah, I couldn't imagine seeing this
coming any lower than an 8.5.
Okay.
If we were to get the 8.5,
pretty confident we'd be over $200,000.
Somewhere between $200,000 and $250,000.
-That's a lot of money.
-[exhales]
That'd be life-changing.
I mean if this card went for $250,000,
I'd probably wanna
pay off my parents' house,
and maybe even buy my dad his dream car.
-[chuckles]
-And $150,000 is a lot of money.
If it were me,
I'd probably consider
just taking the $150,000.
Not knowing what it's gonna get graded.
But it's your card.
-It's your decision.
-[breathes out]
If you wanna take the risk, go for it.
I think I'll have to take the risk.
I feel like there's
so much more potential in it.
-Think I'll have to do it. Yeah.
-[Beth] That's your gut? Okay, buddy.
-[chuckling]
-Let's do it.
I am super excited for this.
I think getting this out to the masses,
getting it graded,
and just letting this thing run
will be well worth it for you.
For me to get this card from a dealer
or someone who's just flipping,
there's not as much reward or satisfaction
as there will be helping a guy like Avery,
change him and family fortune forever.
It's in good hands here,
and, um, let's make some money.
-Heck, yeah!
-Okay! All right.
Awesome.
-Thank you.
-All right, my pleasure.
[upbeat hip-hop music playing]
[Kevin] Don't mind the children's toys.
-[Fung] I'm getting chills.
-[vibrant music playing]
[Fung] I was really excited
coming to see the Apple 1.
And I'm like,
"Huh? What?"
Oh my God.
What? Are you kidding me?
He has all of them.
It's like an Apple Store.
Oh my God, there's every single one here.
-Where are you from, dude?
-[laughs]
-This is insane. Is this operating?
-Yeah, that is. That's the first Mac.
That's actually a pre-production Mac.
There it is, the floppy noise.
-[Ryan] Oh my God.
-Look at this mouse. This is crazy.
[Ryan] This is crazy.
Everything you see here
also comes in its own box.
-You have all the boxes for these?
-All the original boxes.
[Fung] These are complete?
-You have the power, everything?
-[Kevin] Yup.
There's a few that are sealed as well,
which aren't opened.
You don't see those--
-You have a sealed one?
-Oh yeah.
I think people don't even realize
how much value can be lost
if an item is open versus
in its original casing and not open.
Um, you can sometimes lose, like,
60%-70% of the value
once an item is taken out of a package.
It's… It's that extreme.
With the Apple 1, it's going to be major,
major eyeballs just pertaining to that.
And if you'd be considering
consigning any of these,
it would go hand-in-hand
like brother and sister.
I have to ask you,
would you consider
consigning anything here?
Yeah, absolutely.
I wanna start to consign
the ones that are sealed.
So it's the 20th anniversary Mac,
this one down here,
which is the Darth Vader
Bell & Howell Apple II,
and then an original 128K Mac,
just like that, in the box.
-Let's do it.
-Lock it up.
[Fung] Let's lock it. Let's do it.
[Ryan] A consignment like this
checks so many boxes.
It's items that are never seen.
It's super rare and something
people would expect Goldin to have.
And it also shows
my ability to branch out.
This is like your heaven.
You're loving this.
I was PC for a while,
and then I switched over to this.
It's embarrassing.
[laughing] It's embarrassing!
[upbeat hip-hop music playing]
[phone buzzing]
Oh. Hey, Peyton. How's it going?
Hey, what's up?
[Ken] Peyton Manning is a friend
and an investor in Goldin.
He is a collector, but more so,
he's more interested
in what something is worth.
He calls me with everything.
"What will this jersey go for?
What is this ball worth?"
Eli and I were talking yesterday,
and somebody told him
that his first Super Bowl-winning jersey
is worth more than either
of my Super Bowl-winning jerseys.
-Tell me that's not true.
-[sighs]
What am I gonna do, not take his calls?
I could be exercising,
in a business meeting,
in the bathroom,
but Peyton Manning, I'm taking his call.
You've gotta remember, he's New York,
first Super Bowl…
-Ken, that's not the right answer, okay?
-[laughing]
-Try again.
-[Ken laughing]
When you beat Tom Brady
and the undefeated Patriots,
that's a big deal.
Well, I'm trying to go through
a couple of conversations a day
without having Tom Brady come up.
Obviously,
that streak's been ruined today.
-Thanks for bringing that up.
-[Ken laughing] I'm sorry.
[Peyton] I'm not gonna tell Eli
any of this information, okay?
-This stays between you and me.
-[Ken] You got it.
I would make the argument
that your Broncos is worth more
because it was your last ever game,
you won the Super Bowl,
and walked off the field and retired.
That's iconic.
But the Colts…
Look, he's… he's…
He's got a really good argument.
You know, if he ever asks me,
I will lie and I will say, "No way."
Ken, how much do you think
that jersey is worth?
For Eli's win.
I would have to think
his jersey's worth well over $500,000.
-Wow!
-[Ken] Yeah. I mean--
I'm not telling him you said that.
No. To me, your Broncos jersey
is a seven-figure jersey.
That's the most important jersey
you ever wore.
Tell him that part.
[Ken] Okay. [laughing]
[Peyton] Just don't tell him the other.
Okay. You got it. Done deal.
All right, perfect.
That's all I got for you.
-[Ken] Okay, Peyton. Have a good one.
-See ya, pal.
[inhales]
[sighs] Mannings.
[upbeat music playing]
[Alex] What's up, Goldin fam?
The Lionel Messi El Clásico
game-worn jersey is at $350,000.
He literally ripped this jersey
off his chest.
You should go rip it off our site.
Go get it right now.
[Ken] Nice.
Nice.
-Oh, 2005. That's an early one.
-[employee] Yeah, man.
[Ken] And we've got the jersey.
It's already set a record.
-[Dave] Hey, sorry to interrupt.
-[Ken] Hey, Dave.
-[Dave] Ken.
-So what's the good word?
Unfortunately, the grade isn't exactly
what I was expecting, Ken.
-PSA 8?
-[pensive music playing]
Yeah, I thought… It's centered,
corners are razor-sharp.
How is that a PSA 8?
I think it was a small mark on the surface
that they could see under magnification.
I don't see it.
So… So what are the expectations?
-He had a $150,000 private offer.
-Okay.
We'd been talking
$200,000 to $300,000 numbers already.
I know he's expecting at least $150,000,
and he's coming to us
hoping to get more than that.
And I'm worried that,
with an 8, it'll be close.
I was so confident
when I told Avery not to take the money.
I thought that this card
was gonna get a 9, maybe an 8.5.
I'm starting to have second thoughts
on if I'll even get Avery's $150,000.
We got a lot of work to do.
We gotta make sure that we can
get him more than the $150,000.
Eight is not a bad grade.
You gotta remember, it is card number one,
so that'll add some extra value.
It's the first one out of 50,
um, and 8 is a pretty good grade.
The card looks better
than the grade will be.
But…
-It happens and we gotta do our best.
-I'll get it photo'd and we'll get it up.
-Great. Thanks, Dave.
-Thanks, Ken.
[Alex] This just in. We've got
a Steph Curry Gold Rookie card.
One of only 50, people.
Get your bids in right now.
This is an absolute steal.
He's on his way to the Hall of Fame,
and he's just getting started.
He has many more rings to go.
[upbeat music playing]
-Hey, Ken.
-How are we doing?
-See the results?
-Huge sale, man. Congrats.
[Ken] Thank you. Thank you. $450,000.
All-time soccer game-used record.
Can't beat that.
So what do you need this time, Ken?
Uh, Jackie Robinson results.
The jersey didn't hit,
but everything else was a blockbuster,
and that's what's important.
We set records for Hall-of-Fame Plaque.
We set records for letters.
We set records for the game-used bat
everybody in the media's talking about.
Over $1 million.
First-ever $1 million
Jackie Robinson game-used bat.
So here's what I need you guys to do.
Go back.
Anybody who's ever bought
a big game-used bat,
be it Jackie Robinson,
be it Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig…
Call them. Say, "Hey, did you see
what we did with Jackie Robinson?"
"You bought this Lou Gehrig bat
for $150,000."
"We think we can get over $500,000."
We need to use those record results
to drive more business in the future,
and that's always on the top of my mind.
It needs to be always on the top of yours.
-Love it.
-Word up.
-[phone buzzing]
-[Ken] Oh, speak of the devil.
-Hey, Ken, how are you?
-I'm doing great, Damian. How are you?
I'm just so happy right now. I'm shaking.
$450,000.
All-time record
for any game-used soccer jersey,
all-time record
for any game-used Messi item.
And… And you're the man.
It's your item,
and you're the one who did it.
So I… I wanna thank you for giving us
the opportunity to, uh, sell this for you.
[Damian] Thank you.
You've been amazing since beginning,
and all the support all these years.
First time I met you, first time we spoke,
I said, "This guy is a young entrepreneur
just like I was."
"He's got a dream. He's got a vision."
If there's a way I can help you
make that happen, I wanna do it.
Thank you so much.
We're gonna do a lot of things together.
Absolutely. Listen, congratulations.
It's a pleasure working with you,
as always, let's kill it again next time.
-[Damian] Thank you.
-Thanks. Have a great day.
-You too. Bye.
-Bye.
He is such a nice young man.
Young entrepreneur,
uh, has his head on straight.
He works hard
to get what he wants and accomplish it.
Incredibly polite and hard-working.
So when I see people like that
coming into business,
if there's something I can do
from my experience to teach them,
that's what I wanna do.
And, um, this is
the biggest sale of his life, by far.
[soaring music playing]
Hey, Aaron, what's going on, man?
We got an auction ending in 30 minutes.
Lot number 23.
Steph Curry Gold Rookie card.
Gotta be one of
his best rookie cards ever.
Current bid is $140,000.
You not in?
I thought you said you'd hit it.
We're on the phone with potential bidders
to the very end of every auction
so that our consigners never regret
handing over their items to us.
I especially feel responsible to Avery,
to get him the most I can for this card.
-I'm surprised we're in this situation.
-It's stuck at $140,000 for days.
This is where the action happens,
so let's see.
[Carlo] Always at the end.
-[beeping on screen]
-[Dave] Oh. Oh, here it is!
[suspenseful music playing]
