[Izzy] Pumpkin!

It's milk time. [chuckles]

[Ali] You little monkey.

[Izzy laughs]

[Izzy] Pumpkin and Chompy
have become best friends.

Sorry, Chompy,
you're getting a bit of a milk shampoo.

[laughs]

Oh, Chompy, no.

That's not for you. You're a big boy now.

I remember when Chompy
didn't even like milk.

[Ali] Okay, you little rascal, you win.

[upbeat music playing]

[Izzy chuckles] Chompy.

The little bit of extra milk
when he's growing is not a bad thing.

He's a big boy
compared to these little ones

and he's getting quite energetic now,

so pretty soon he will be ready to move

from inside the house
to a bigger enclosure

so he can learn new skills.

Every baby koala that we have in care
needs to learn to drink milk.

Then, when they're strong enough
and can climb, like Chompy,

they move out of the house
and into their own enclosure outside,

getting him used to the sunlight,
the breeze,

and climbing bigger trees.

That's what he's gonna need
when he gets back out to the wild.

-Okay. [sighs]
-See ya.

[Izzy] Chompy, you are so naughty!

Stop stealing Pumpkin.

It's good they have each other

because they can learn a lot
from each other.

Chompy's already taught her a lot:

how to climb, how to be brave.

And now she's
a tiny fluffy ball of energy.

When Chompy moves outside,
it will be hard for Pumpkin especially.

[Izzy giggles]

Chompy's been a wonderful big brother.

But before Chompy moves outside,

-he needs to be big enough.
-Yeah.

What do you think a good target weight
for Chompy is to move outside?

[Ali] I think five pound or over.

[Izzy] He almost feels like he's there.

Okay, Mum, I'll go get everything ready
to weigh Chompy.

All right. Sounds like a plan.

[Izzy] All right.

Chompy! Gosh, look at him.

He's a big one!

[Ali] When he first came in,

he was just about the weight
Pumpkin is now.

Look at the difference.
Look at the size of him.

If Chompy's over five pounds,
you know what that means.

It's time to graduate
from the house koalas.

Yup.

All right. The moment of truth.

[Izzy] Chompy's 5.9 pounds!

You're huge!

That means Chompy's ready to move outside.

So now that Chompy's ready to move out,
how do you feel?

I feel so happy for Chompy.

I think he'll love it out there.

This is a really important step
in him growing up

so that when he is released
back into the wild, he'll be ready.

But I think Pumpkin
might have trouble saying goodbye.

[Ali] Aw, Pumpkin's gonna miss Chompy.

But Chompy needs to have
somebody nearby him,

just to give him that comfort
of knowing that he's not alone.

What about Henry?

Maybe.

Yeah, I think Henry would be
the perfect roommate for Chompy.

I see heaps of similarities
between Henry and Chompy.

They both like to eat.

They're both really cheeky.

And they're both very curious.

[Ali] That's a good plan.

Okay. I'm gonna go check on Henry.

[Ali] All right. Let's go.

Hi, Henry!

[Izzy] How are you feeling?

-It's great he's eating leaf.
-[Ali] It most certainly is.

[Izzy] Henry was one that we raised
from a baby and then released.

But he came back and he was so skinny,

and then he started to feel
a little bit better.

I think Henry will teach Chompy so much

because Henry's been in the wild before.

Yup. I think so.

Yeah, I think he'll like it out here
with Henry.

Male koalas in the wild
around Henry's age

are all learning from each other.

And because they're both very young,
I think they'll be good playmates.

-[Izzy] Yeah.
-[Ali] Okay. Let's go get Chompy.

-[Izzy] Bye, Henry.
-[Ali] See ya, Henry.

[birds chirping]

All right, Chompy. It's time.

Pumpkin, it's all right.

-[Ali] Oh!
-[Izzy laughs]

[Ali] Oh.

[Tim] Pumpkin doesn't want him to leave.

[Izzy chuckles]

Oh, look, she's got teary eyes.

I know it's hard to let him go.

I promise you'll see him again.

[Tim] Aw!

[Izzy] He's been such
a good big brother to you.

But it's his turn.
He needs a big brother now.

[Tim] Aw!

[Izzy] Good job, Pumpkin.

[Ali] Off you go.

[chuckles]

[Izzy] That's so good!

Pumpkin, if you keep growing
and eating like you do,

you'll be able to move out
with Chompy soon.

There you go. You eat your leaf.

I'm so proud of you.

Chompy.

Are you ready to meet Henry?

It's okay, Pumpkin.

You'll see him soon.

[birds chirping]

It's all right, Chompy.

[Izzy] Chompy, this is
your new roommate, Henry.

Henry, this is the first time Chompy's
met someone bigger than him.

I think he's a bit nervous.

[Ali] Oh, look.

[Izzy] They're saying hello.

-[Ali] Oh!
-[Izzy] Oh, you're sharing leaf with him.

[chuckles] Oh, good job, Henry!

[Tim laughs]

[Ali] That's really good.

I think he would like to get up there.

[Izzy] Chompy, that's your tree fork.

This is the biggest tree
he's ever climbed.

Good boy, Chompy.

Can you look after Chompy for me, Henry?

Chompy, he's been in the wild before,
so he'll teach you

all the things that you need to know
about being a wild koala.

You've done such a good job, Iz.

-Look at him.
-[chuckles]

Thank you, Mum.

[Izzy] When Chompy came in...

[chuckles] He just waved.

...the only thing he was already good at
was eating leaf.

I needed to teach him everything.
How to drink milk...

You got a milk mustache, Chompy.

...and how to climb a tree fork.

Good boy, Chompy.

[Ali] The fact that he's outside is huge.

It's all a part of that pathway
to get them back out into the wild.

-Back home.
-[Izzy] Yeah.

Chompy looks very happy outside.

And Henry's doing really good.

And then Pumpkin

and all the other babies
can join them, once they're big enough.

[Izzy] Bye, Henry. Bye, Chompy.

-[Tim] See you guys.
-[Ali] Night night.

[Izzy] It's been about three months,
and all the babies have moved outside now.

But they're not really babies anymore.

Hi, Twinkle! You're so big now.

[Ali] Careful, Pumpkin.

Careful, darling.

[Izzy] They're all doing so well
with climbing.

[Ali] Chompy, do you need a hand there?

I think he maybe does.

[Ali and Izzy laugh]

-[Izzy] Oh!
-[Ali laughs]

[Ali] Just really chilling out now.
[laughs]

[Izzy] They're all jumping around.

Hi, Teddy.

Hi, Ranger.

And eating lots of leaf, of course.

[Ali] Oh, you're such a gorgeous girl.

You're not bad.

You're okay.

[Izzy] And pretty soon,
all these babies will be ready

to be released back into the wild.

Raising baby koalas takes a lot of work
and I've learned a lot.

But I didn't do it alone.

The koalas also needed help
from my mom and dad, my friends,

and everyone on the island who call
when they see a koala in trouble.

Even the koalas help each other sometimes.

[Izzy] Aw!

[Izzy chuckles]

There are so many animals
that need our help right now.

Birds, wallabies, koalas

and animals in countries
all across the world.

Just imagine how many we can help
if we all work together.

[bicycle bell rings]

Koala paradise.

That's my dream.

In this episode, you saw me
and my family helping wild animals.

If you see an animal
that you think might be sick or injured,

don't approach it, tell an adult,

and ask them
to call a trained professional.
