[Izzy] Good morning, Chompy.
Chompy, let's go check on StormBoy.
Hey, StormBoy.
You see him?
We might be able to release him soon.
He just needs one more test.
[upbeat music plays]
You've lived in the koala hospital
a really long time,
so I reckon you'll be
back in the wild soon.
Right, StormBoy?
I'll take it as a yes.
So, Mum and I are just gonna
set up for your blood test.
[Izzy] We have to take a tiny bit
of StormBoy's blood
and send it off to be tested
to make sure that he's all better.
StormBoy, we're going to take
some blood from you. Okay?
Ooh!
StormBoy, you don't need to be scared.
You're a fighter.
He's been through a lot.
Yeah, he was one of the flood victims
when we had the tremendous rains.
[thunder rumbling]
[Ali] Two weeks of just constant rain.
He was found sitting
at the bottom of a tree.
He was all huddled up and very, very sad.
He had a chest infection
being out in the cold, wet, all the time.
He didn't have any strength at all,
and we honestly thought
we weren't going to be able to save him.
[Izzy] So we treated that chest infection,
and then we found out
that he had another infection.
It's a really serious thing.
[Ali] Everything seems to be fine
from the outside,
but we don't want to send him
back into the wild if he's still sick.
And the blood test is what tells us
whether he really is okay on the inside.
StormBoy, you don't need to be scared.
[Ali] Because he's a big boy and because
he gets quite scared and stressed,
we have to just give him something
just to make him a little bit sleepy.
So I'm just going to go behind him,
and I'm going to give him this injection,
which he won't like
'cause he hates injections.
So, can you distract him
by just putting a bit of the freshest leaf
in front of him?
StormBoy!
[Ali] Right, Iz.
I know. I'm sorry! I'm sorry.
-[whispers] I think he's going to sleep.
-[StormBoy snores]
Okay, I'm going to swing him down.
I've got him.
Let's pop you down on there.
-That's it.
-It's okay, StormBoy.
He's probably dreaming.
Maybe being out in the wild
with a family or something,
climbing trees, eating lots of yum leaf.
I really hope StormBoy's test
comes back clear.
He's been waiting so long to be healthy.
[Ali] I hope so.
We're just going to shave your arm a bit
so we can take some blood more easily.
[Ali] Perfect.
-[Izzy] Right here?
-[Ali] Yup.
You're doing really well.
Don't worry, StormBoy.
The worst part is over.
I'm making a special bandage.
[scoffs]
[Ali] That's fine.
[Izzy] Oh, nice little blanket.
Good for you.
[Ali] Nice and warm.
-I'll get these bloods to the lab...
-[Izzy] Mm-hm.
...and then we'll hopefully get
some good test results.
If everything's all clear,
we can release you
back into the wild, StormBoy!
[StormBoy snores]
[upbeat music plays]
-[Izzy] Loki! Loki!
-[Loki barks]
Whoa! [chuckles]

-[Ali] Izzy?
[Izzy chuckles] Yeah?
-StormBoy's results are back.
-Oh, they are?
So, if, um...
It's bad if it says positive?
Yeah, we want him
to have a negative result.
-No bad fungal infection on the inside.
-[Izzy] Yeah.
[Ali] Okay.
Greater than two is positive
and indicates active infection.
He's still positive.
Oh!
He can't be released yet?
Not yet.
Okay.
[Ali] That's a shame.
It's going to be
a little bit disappointing for StormBoy
because I know he'd really like
to get back out there,
but because he's still sick,
we definitely need to keep giving him
his medication.
I'll find a way
to help him get through it.

they're frustrated, they flick their ears.
I don't know how long you're gonna
stay here for, StormBoy,
but I'm gonna make it
the best time you've had here.
How does that sound?

[Izzy] Okay, Chompy.
I think StormBoy's a bit sad
at the moment.
We just got his test results back
and we found out
that he can't be released.
Sometimes when you have an idea, Chompy,
it doesn't always go to plan.
He's got tears in his eyes.
Are you sad for StormBoy? Me too.
Mum and I are going to
keep giving him his medication,
but it's not just the medicine
that Mum and I give him every day.
It's also how he feels.
So, I just need to come up with something
to make him feel happy.
Being happy is a really important
part of recovery for everybody.

[Izzy] Mum! I just thought of a good idea.

[Izzy] Mum, you know how StormBoy's
going to be here for a bit longer?
[Ali] Yeah?
What if we move StormBoy
into a bigger enclosure?

I want him to be happy
for the time that he still has here,
and sometimes a small change
can make a big difference.

[Izzy] He needs an enclosure that's shady,
breezy, more trees.
More like the wild.
Do you think we can?
That's a pretty good idea.
StormBoy might really enjoy that.
