[birdsong]

[animal barking]

[snoring]

Hey, Izzy. I just got a call for a rescue.

-We've gotta go.
-[Izzy] Okay.

All right.

[car engine starts]

[Izzy] What do you know
about this koala?

I've just had a call to say that there's
a young koala separated from its mum.

Sounds like it's got sore eyes, as well.

She's one of the family that live
at Wallaby Way,

the same place that Chompy came from.

[Izzy] Maybe she's related to Chompy.

[Ali] Could well be.

[man] Hi, guys.

Hello.

Hey... Sh, sh, sh.

Hello, baby.

-She's not very big, is she?
-[Izzy] Mm-mm.

-[Ali] She's seven or eight months old.
-[squeaks]

[Izzy] She looks like her eyes,
nose and mouth are really sore.

[Ali] Have you got really into the green
ants? Her nose is all crusted up.

Aww. Her mouth and everything.

She's gonna need some medicine
and eye creams.

[Izzy] We'll get you home
and get you safe.

[Ali] All very scary for her,

so we'll just
get her home as quickly as we can.

It's okay. Sh.

And then try and give her a little bit
of leaf to eat.

I think she's probably missing her mum
big time,

-so she'll be very much wanting a cuddle.
-Yeah.

[Izzy] I'll help her get settled, Mum.

-[Ali] That'd be great.
-[Izzy] Okay.

We're here, little one.

[car doors close]

[Ali] Let's get you inside.

-[squeaks]
-I know, baby, I know.

-[squeaks]
-Sh.

[Izzy] It's all right,
we're just putting cream in your eyes

so that they feel better.

She's been stung pretty badly
by the green ants.

At the moment, she can't see very well.

[Izzy] She's really still scared,
like Chompy was.

Oh, baby girl. Look at you.

[Izzy] You smell Chompy?

[giggles] She's excited now.

They might be cousins.

She's really skinny.

I'm really worried about her.

[Ali] If she eats,
that's the best chance for recovery.

I have some really nice,
fresh leaf for you.

I know you can't see well,
but do you smell the leaves?

Let me crunch it up for you
so that the smell comes out better.

-[sniffing]
-You smell that?

You're nice and safe here with us.
Come on.

[crunching]

-Oh, she's eating. I got her to eat.
-Is she?

-Is she?
-Yep.

Oh, good on you, little girl.

[Izzy] There you go.
I'm so glad you're eating.

Oh, you're very excited about that leaf,
aren't you?

Really good. Really good girl.

She should still be getting milk
from her mum, right?

[Ali] Yeah, definitely.

We can try her
with some milk in the morning, maybe.

I think that's a good idea.

I'm gonna make sure that you feel safe,
that you have a home.

You're in good hands.

[birds squawking]

[squeaking]

[snoring]

[Izzy] Good morning, Chompy.

[sniffing]

Hello.

Hi!

Good morning.

How are you feeling?

You look like you're feeling better,
because you're eating a lot of leaf.

Come on, little one.

Oh, your leaf is coming.

Let's go. You've got your leaf, as well.

[crunching]

Hey, little kid. How are you going?

You're a nonstop eating-leaf machine.

-I like that she's holding your hand.
-Yeah.

[Izzy] You have a really good grip!

It's a really good sign.
It means that she's strong.

Well, we should probably try
to get a little bit of milk into her.

Mum's gonna get you some milk.

We really do need to try and get
that extra nutrition into her.

At this age and at this size,

she would most definitely
still be drinking from Mum,

so Izzy's got to be her mum.

It'll be tough at first,
but it'll make you feel better.

Come on.

[Ali] It's, "No, I don't want milk.
I would like to..."

"Run away and eat my leaf."

It's okay. I'm here.

[Ali] Ah!

-You're safe. It's all right.
-Good.

There you go.

There we go. Just a little bit of milk.

Good girl.

You've got her there?

Look at her.

She trusts you already.

You know that we're trying to help,
don't you?

I'm really proud of you.

Are you using Izzy's T-shirt
to wipe your face?

Oh, thank you. [laughs]

She's got the same table manners
as you have.

[laughs]

We've gotta think of a name for you.

Well, what do you think?

Well, she did come in at night,
and all the stars were out.

-Yep.
-Maybe "Twinkle"?

-I like Twinkle.
-Yeah, I like Twinkle, too.

Are you a Twinkle?

Maybe we can put her in
with Chompy tonight?

[snoring]

I think that's a good idea.

Having a brother or sister is
actually a really good thing.

[Izzy] When the babies
come into the hospital,

we try to pair them up together

so they're happy and comfortable.

If Chompy accepts Twinkle,
it'll help both recover faster.

And I do think that they are
from the same family, so, hopefully,

they will both smell
that they're related to each other.

[Izzy] Chompy, I have so much to tell you!

[snoring]

You're still sleeping, Chompy?

When you wake up, I'm gonna tell you
all about your new roommate, Twinkle.

Okay, Mum, I'm leaving. I'll be back soon.

[bicycle bell ringing]

My plan is to decorate Twinkle's
new enclosure just like the wild,

so that she feels right at home.

[kookaburra laughing]

[birds calling]

It's fun to be quiet
and just listen sometimes.

I hear the rustling of leaves.

-I hear some cockatoos.
-[cockatoos screeching]

It's actually quite noisy
when you're quiet.

Now I gotta go collect everything.

[laughing]

Feathers.

Koalas have an awesome sense of smell,
so it would be really nice

if Twinkle had things in her enclosure
that smell familiar.

Good bark!

[sniffs]

A tree fork.

Perfect!

[bicycle bell rings]

Still asleep, Chompy?

[snoring]

Perfect.

Hi, Chompy.

Last night, Chompy,
we rescued a new koala.

From the same area as you.

You guys are probably related.

Twinkle also got separated from her mum
and attacked by green ants.

Just like you, Chompy,
Twinkle needs a mum and a friend.

Can you help me take care of her?

Where are you going?

There's no need to be jealous. Please?

I think it's important
that we take care of her together.

It'll help you both recover faster.

You're gonna have
to share me a little bit, Chompy.

Are you ready to meet Twinkle?

-All right, Mum, Dad.
-[Ali] Okay.

Chompy, meet Twinkle.
Twinkle, meet Chompy.

[Ali] Aah!

[sniffing]

[Izzy] Chompy's smelling her.

[Ali] To see who she is.

It's really important
that they get used to each other's smells.

[Izzy] They're sharing the same branch.

[Ali] They seem to be having
a dinner date at the moment.

Yeah.

Chompy's willing to share his food.

That's a really good sign.

[Dad] Yeah.

-[Ali] Aww, look.
-[Izzy laughs]

-[Ali] That's it.
-[Izzy] He's giving her kisses!

-[laughs]
-[Ali] That's beautiful.

Awww!

He's giving her a hug.

Chompy, thank you for helping me.

Chompy's gonna look out
for you, Twinkle.

You're safe here.

I decorated you and Chompy's home
so that it smells just like the wild.

I want you to feel as comfortable
as you can out here.

I put up some bark.

And I covered this place with eucalyptus,

so it's like
a giant eucalyptus tree house.

We even cut out stars
that twinkle just for you.

It'll be the perfect enclosure
for the two of you to share.

You'll start to settle in,
and you'll recover just like Chompy did.

There, Twinkle. There you go.
There's a home for you.

-Look at that, Iz.
-[Ali] Aw, it's a hit, Izzy. Well done.

-[Dad] Yeah!
-Welcome to the family, Twinkle.

In this episode, you saw me
and my family helping wild animals.

If you see an animal that you think
might be sick or injured,

don't approach it, tell an adult and
ask them to call a trained professional.
