Iroduku: The World in Colors (2018–…): Season 1, Episode 13 - Episode #1.13 - full transcript

I liked drawing alone.

I thought it was enough

to just draw as I pleased.

But...

Hitomi told me...

that my drawings were special.

My first impression of her was that

she appeared lonely, in dark gray.

Always oozing with unease,
peering through a keyhole at the world around her.

Now that I'm alone myself,

I can't help but keep recalling you.

Your multicolored self.

Along with the vivid pain.

The World in Colors

Dormancy undone.

Light of the moon deep in slumber
within the sand of stars.

Heed my call.

Tonight, we shall send into the great flow of time

a traveler, this beloved child.

Power of the light of the sand of stars,
awaken for us now!

Be full in this moment,

and open the road of time.

Whoa.

We have a little time
before the strength of the star-sand's light matures.

Okay.

Then I'll start.

Hitomi, you always seemed
to not have confidence in yourself.

But there's no reason to feel that way.

I really liked...

your photos.

I hope you'll keep taking them.

I will.

Take care of yourself.

-Chigusa.
-What?

Since this is goodbye, Hitomi,

can I just say one thing?

Yes.

You should smile a lot more.

If you do, there'll be more opportunities for photos.
Don't waste it.

-That's the last thing you're gonna say to her?
-It's okay.

Thank you, Chigusa.

I've always had a hard time smiling.

But, I'm sure I'll manage from now on!

Yeah!

Thanks to you,

I made tons of memories.

You always knew just how to cheer me up, Kurumi.

You're an upperclassman, but you feel just like a friend.

Oh, no, don't make me cry.

My glasses will fog up and I won't be able to see.

Kurumi...

Thank you for coming to our club.

It was fun having you as an underclassman.

Thank you.

See you.

Hitomi...

I was so happy that we had finally become close.

-I'm sorry, Asagi.
-No.

I can't cry.

Kurumi told me that we'd make you worry.

But I can't help it.

I wanted to graduate together.

To hang out at photo studios, eat parfaits,

chat after school.

Much, much more.

Thanks for being my friend.

I'll write letters. As many as possible.

To my friend in the future.

Hitomi.

Thanks for coming all the way here to us.

I love you.

Kohaku...

We'll be able to reminisce 60 years in the future.

I'm looking forward to it.

Me too.

Do your best with the time magic.

You'd better believe I will.

Okay, Yuito.

I...

After meeting you...

I hope you're happy in the future too.

I won't forget about you.

I won't forget either.

Is that all? Are you sure?

You should say everything you're feeling.

-You won't see each other again after--
-It's fine.

Please wait.

I have something to say too.

Thanks for everything you've done.

I was sad and all alone at first.

I didn't know anything about this world
and school here.

But you were all there for me.

I experienced all these feelings that I'll never forget.

I had closed myself off up until then.

But I decided to stop limiting myself
based on false presumptions.

I'm sure that a single feeling can change the--

What?

I beseech thee, darkness that sinks into silence--

Something's interfering.

-It's almost like another magic is...
-Could this be...

my fault?

Hitomi!

Hitomi!

Hitomi!

Hitomi!

Hitomi!

I decided to stop limiting myself
based on false presumptions.

You can cross it.

See?

At that moment,

what I wanted to say to little Hitomi...

"I don't want you to shut yourself in.

I don't want you to give up."

Am I not just the same as her?

Shutting myself in with my own feelings.

You can cross it.

You can cross it.

There she is.

Hitomi!

Hitomi!

Even if it hurts...

even if it won't come true...

Precious feelings will never disappear.

Hitomi!

-Hitomi!
-Yuito! Thank goodness.

There were still things I wanted to tell you.

This entire time,
I've done nothing but accept your help.

You showed me your drawings.

You showed me colors.

And I was so happy when you praised my magic.

You were there for me
when I showed you my detestable self.

You accepted all of me.

I was satisfied just being around you.

Thank you.

You put a magic spell on my future.

So did you.

-You gave me so many precious things to hold onto.
-Me?

The truth is,
I thought I'd given up on the path of drawing.

But my feelings changed when I met you.

Wanting to make others happy,
and the enjoyment of drawing...

You made me realize that once again.

I shut myself off in a corner just like you.

You shined light onto my drawings.

The dark colors, and the bright ones.

They all make you up, Hitomi.
You don't have to remove any colors.

Keep smiling in the future, too.

I love you, Hitomi.

Me too.

I love you.

The color of your hair,

the color of your skin, the color of your eyes,

the color of your heart.

I...

won't forget you.

I won't forget you either.

I'm sure we met
in order to put the color back in each other's futures.

Hitomi!

Kohaku. I...

I can see colors.

A single feeling can change the world.

Hitomi!

Thank you, Yuito.

Goodbye, Hitomi.

Goodbye.

I beseech thee, darkness that sinks into silence.

Light, illuminate the endless flow.

Starlit sky, soul-lit Earth. Schools upon the hills.
Beaches that beam down from stars.

-Hitomi!
-Goodbye!

-Hilly roads wet with rain.
-We'll meet again!

-Twilight...
-See you!

-Goodbye, Hitomi!
-Time spent together,

...last beyond the present.

Flow of everlasting time,

return her, Hitomi.

I'll be waiting in the future. Make sure you're born.

Time, return.

And so Hitomi returned to the future.

What sent her back to the future wasn't my time magic.

I'm the only one who knows that fact.

Hitomi's unconscious magic wearing off
was the limit on her journey.

The great magic I cast in the future

is still out of my reach for now...

But someday, for sure...

Let's go.

KOHAKU TSUKISHIRO
HITOMI RETURNED SAFELY.

GOOD JOB.
FROM KOHAKU

OUT OF ORDER

We're approaching the stop.

We've arrived.

Are we there?

It's where you're meant to be.

You're covered for a round trip.

Thank you.

You said I was covered.

Here's your change.

Battery stand confirmed.

Regular functions will now resume.

Today's date is 2078,

-September 19th.
-Colors.

-All kinds of them.
-Time is 7:41 PM.

Welcome home, Hitomi.

Well? Did you have fun?

It was fun, but...

sad.

I was anxious and scared, and it got unpleasant.

I was mesmerized and got excited,
which made me so happy.

I felt lonely, got angry, and cried.

It was so painful, it felt like my chest had seized up.

It became so dear to me that I didn't want to leave.

But...

I was happy.

You saw it, didn't you?

You didn't look away.

Hey, it's okay for me to be happy, isn't it?

Of course!

It's something you've obtained all by yourself.

All I did was help just a tiny bit.

My wish is to use magic to make others happy.

But I couldn't make those closest to me happy.

Please forgive me.

It's okay.

I'm the one who didn't realize
just how much you were thinking of me.

For that, I'm sorry.

I'm okay now.

I want to go find my mother and talk to her!

Along with you, Kohaku!

MAGIC SHOP
CLOSED TODAY

You can stay the night, right?

Yeah. Father said it was okay.

But what's that? Granny!

Don't call me Granny. Kohaku is fine.

This here is a time capsule.

I thought I'd give it to you.

It's from everyone in the Magic Photography Arts Club.

You can't bring things along with you
when you cross time.

So, we thought we'd make an album
for future Hitomi to see.

It sure brings back memories.

Did you send me back knowing everything
that would happen 60 years ago?

Well, of course.

Those days are a precious memory of mine.

And now finally...

I can share it with you.

And one more thing.

Do you remember?

It's the picture book you read when you were little.

THE SEVEN COLORED PENGUIN

I remember.

This is the only book I was able to see in color.

I thought it was because I read it countless times
with my mother,

but that wasn't the only reason.

BY YUITO AOI

"The penguin was white and black.

The penguin's room was white and black too.

Today, once again,

the penguin relaxed alone
in her room drinking tea.

When all of a sudden, she heard a voice call out,
'Come over here!'

As the penguin cautiously inched toward her door,

the rabbit poked her little head right in!

'There are some delicious wild strawberries over here!'

'Sorry for startling you!'

The flying squirrel stylishly pushed her flying goggles
to the top of her head,

and pulled a walnut out of her backpack.

'These are delicious. Want to eat together?'

'Today's just full of firsts,'
the penguin thought secretly to herself."

"'The wind brings all sorts of colors.'
said the bear.

'The smell of grass, the smell of flowers,

the smell of the sun, the smell of the ocean.'"

"'The horizon is sparkling,'
the dog faced towards the sea, and held his camera.

The rabbit stood next to the dog,
and sniffed at the ocean."

"'Bright, dark, either is fine.
But it's a little too hot to be pacing about.

Today's the perfect day for a nap in the sun!'
said the cat.

'I'm in!'"

"And the flying squirrel raised her hand."

"The parrot's eyes went wide with bewilderment.

'I can fly, but I can't swim.
You can swim, but you can't fly.

But, you were born from an egg and have wings,
so we're fellow birds.'"

"The penguin was so afraid she could cry.

The lightning flashed,

the thunder roared,

the wind howled,

the rain poured down,

and got everyone wet.

Who can say just how long it went on?

Before they realized, the rain clouds had disappeared,
and a ray of sunlight beamed down.

As they all headed back to the forest,

they saw before them a great rainbow.

From then on,

she found herself thinking

'This world is full of so many colors.

I wonder what color...

I am?'"

I'm so glad the ocean is blue.

I'm so glad the sky is blue.

The colors you gave me...

My future...

is full of colors.
