by Jimmy Snaz.

a tough one for me,

because I have

an emotional connection
to Jimmy.

He was on my team, and Angel,

I mean, she was on
an opposite team.

She was the first pick
on season 11

to get into the house.

We targeted her
and sent her home.

- You're one of the best
competitors in the house.

- To, like, have artists
in the house

looking at me and saying

that, like, it's
the ugliest tattoo in the room,

and like, hearing it
from you guys is even harder.

- I don't think Angel
could've done

that tattoo on her best day.

My tattoo shows issues,
but it shows experience.

from Team Cleen
and from Jimmy himself.

My experience is what's gonna

I work in a street shop.

It's bangers, bangers,
bangers, all day.

Just try to keep it cohesive.

I don't have a lot of room for
error in a traditional tattoo.

Everything has to be
intentional and on point.

You only get one shot
to make every line count.

I know
Jimmy's gonna come through

on this tattoo,

so I have to do something

that's impressive
and technical.

Hopefully gonna
have time to finesse it.

There's lots of little folds
and creases in my fish,

and every fin
has texture in it.

These tiny little lines are
hard to do without shaking.

If I pull it off, it's gonna be
really impressive.

a brain

I think with my heart.

It also has

an all-seeing eye
in the center,

because I see through
this mental warfare bullshit

that Jason's
just tossing around.

I let emotion get in control

instead of just kicking back
and doing fun tattoos.

what's coming for him.

to give this undertone

In terms of color theory,
that was really cool,

because it looks really nice

with all of the cool tones
that you use.

Overall, it's a fun tattoo.

that you presented was

the polar opposite of Sparks,

a really interesting concept
and design.

down at the bottom.

The screw-in part
of the bulb, that's shaded,

a nice metal effect.

exactly I was gonna see.

- I liked Angel's a lot.

It's a super-clean,
solid tattoo.

I mean, you can't say

there's a lack of black
in there anywhere.

- The line work that you put
into that tattoo is solid.

- All the little tiny fins
worked out great.

I, personally, I think

a smaller line weight
would've been my choice.

- I like the difference
between the thick

and the thin lines,

and the contrast
between the two.

- I wish there was
more smaller lines

in the fins.

- And that's just a style
preference, personally.

was also really solid.

It has that weight.

It has everything
that you'd think

you pull that style off
better than anybody.

where you whip-shaded.

The saturation between
the black and the red

wasn't in there as good
as it could've been.

that I can show off texture,

looks and feels lifelike.

with this idea?

- Honestly, I've never done
a dragon claw before,

and figured, well, why not?

My design is a dragon claw,

but I want it to look
really gnarly.

So, it's got armor
plating on it,

and it's ripped off.

If this is my one chance
to come back

and prove I got it,
then I might as well

do something big and powerful.

Losing isn't an option.

I have too much on the line
to prove,

and show what I can
really do.

I want it to have a punch.

I want it to have weight.

see it from across the room.

- As a tattooer, you have to be
able to think on the fly.

Sometimes, you make an image

that you think's gonna work
perfectly,

and it's not always
the best way to do it.

So, you have to be able to, you
know, compensate a little bit.

background in behind the mane?

- Not as much.

- On the fly choices, smart.

I was nervous.

I possibly could

so that we could put
that hypothesis to the test.

because she did have
the advantage.

She chose her specialty.

this, you know, blindsided,

trying to do a tattoo

that he doesn't ever do
in his normal life.

- It's a totally different
beast.

truck, or driving a motorcycle.

to see how it ends up.

showed of light source

and shading
when you shaded that horse,

that's one of the most
difficult things to tattoo.

When I look at that horse,
I know that it's running,

I know the muscles
that are being used.

- But I feel like you still
need to pull

some contrast into there.

- All it needed was
a little bit of background.

- Yeah, I totally hear you
on that.

I was like, if I have
to do all that blending,

it's going to eat up
so much time.

- But I think you wanted to put
that contrast in,

so you pulled your liner out,

and you defined the mane
as it flowed,

and the tail, because
they were the most crisp.

Your eye immediately goes
to those two elements

that were supposed to be
in the background.

- Right, yeah. I mean, I like
the darkness of it,

but it's so...
- Totally.

But if it's the most
defined thing...

- It's so defined.
- It messes with focus.

I mean, I can definitely tell
that's her strong suit.

as a traditional tattooer

The technique
that you came out with,

the texture of the hair,
the way you tattooed.

- Super soft.

It just literally looked like
you could pet it.

- Where you lost it
for me a little bit

was the neck fur.

It's almost like
you have all this dope fur

that you could brush and pet,

and then it goes
in spaghetti hair, you know?

- I just wanted to show
different textures.

- I look at that different
hair, and I immediately think,

oh, yeah, he's got
a long bottom mane.

- If you pull some
of those long hairs down,

and didn't end it like a box,

you would've got
the illusion of fur more.

- I'm kind of on the fence.

My biggest thing is,
when I look at Jimmy's tattoo,

at first glance, it looks
like a real-ass cat.

The one thing that kills me
with Angel's tattoo

is just the mane,
the hard line around the edge.

- But if I may, I mean,

the sharpest part of Jimmy's
is the cat's neck.

The point that should be
the sharpest should be,

you know, the most important
features, the nose, the eyes.

I'm just saying,
if I'm gonna get

railed for that,
I'm gonna point that out.

fazed you at all.

This beetle is super bad-ass.

I really like the little
jewels you got in there,

right on his back.

A lot of good detail.

You can tell that it's got
that nice little shine to it,

it's got a different texture
than the rest of it.

- All your line work's
super good.

All the lines in the legs
are really crispy.

You're a smooth applicator.

- Overall, the colors play
beautifully against each other.

The perfect amount
of contrast and hue.

The real shining moment was

the really bright, beautiful
seafoam teal color.

That specific color is
a really hard color

to saturate so solid
and so consistently,

and you nailed it.

That being said, I feel like

some of the black could've been
more saturated.

The black that Sparks achieved

was so rich and deep and dark.

- You did a super solid tattoo.

It's really bold
and in your face.

You got a lot
of good tricks in this thing.

You use this heavy, bold line
work around the claws

where they come out at you,
and then inside of all that

thick line work, you use
some thin lines,

and really play
with your line weights.

- Your color play
was super awesome.

I love how you used
this really weird,

sort of boogery strange green
in the claws,

and then you brought that same
green back into the armor,

into all of the little
nail heads up

the entire seam
of the armor.

That play was
really smart.

- If you look at his,
because he didn't pull enough

reds up to the top,
I think that your eyes

are pulled either down
or up,

but you don't read
the whole thing.

And I think a good tattoo
is something

that you should look at
and see the entire tattoo.

- I want the person's eye
to travel from the tip

of that fingernail to the last
shred of skin coming off.

Like, I want their eyes to
flow through the whole thing.

- So, you want the person's eye
to look at the best part,

and not pay attention
to the top part.

- I just said, flow through
the whole thing.

- I feel like I did
a better tattoo.

Mine's got more tricks,

it's got more details,
it's got better blends.

- But I do feel like your image
was very, like, symmetrical,

let me draw one side
and copy it.

- And that makes it harder,

a symmetrical image is harder.
- No, symmetry's easy.

- It's a race, and you can't
win it with one leg.

- Both you guys
did solid tattoos.

But one of you guys
has to win, like--

- Yeah, drawing for drawing,
I love both of these things.

The color play on both
of these is amazing.

- They both killed it on the
line work.
