Hudson & Rex (2019–…): Season 5, Episode 5 - The Good Shepherd - full transcript

Well, it's nice
chatting with you all,

but I should probably
give Rex a breather.

Even the best cops need a
break every now and again.

Excuse me.

Come on, pal.

Hey, guys. Let's hear
it for Mr. S, huh?

Let's hear it for Mr. S!

My new favourite teacher!

Come on, let him know!

How are you guys doing?

Yeah, I know.

I'm not exactly what
you're thinking.

You're thinking
who's this old guy

and what's he going to
be droning on about?

Well, good news.

First of all, I'm not going
to be talking about algebra

or history or geography, okay?

So, don't worry about it.

No guys, I'm here today

to talk about what it
truly means to be a hero.

Is that something you
guys are interested in?

Yeah!

Let me tell you my story.

I was working with the
Drugs and Gang Unit.

And one night I
responded to a call,

routine call, just
like any other night

or so I thought.
But all of a sudden,

I found myself in the
middle of an ambush.

I was being ambushed by a group
of violent, ruthless drug dealers

led by a young skeet
named Luke Pearson.

Maybe you've heard of him?
Not exactly the best kind.

What I thought was going
to be a routine night,

turned into a nightmare.

I almost died that night.

And I still have a bullet
in my back to prove it.

Took me off the force for good.

- Is this age appropriate?
- Definitely not.

So; what do you do exactly?

Well, I'm a detective.

And what's your deal?

I'm a forensicist.

So that makes you
what? The sidekick?

No, I'm... I do
digital forensics.

Oh! So you're not
a real cop then?

I'm...

I'm sort of like
a cyber detective.

It's really the
wave of the future.

The bike cops have funnel cakes!

- Okay.
- Cyber detective?

Bang! Skeet two down!

And that's when things go
to hell. It was a trap.

Now, many people would
have ran away. Taken cover.

How can you blame them? It
was a pretty hairy sitch.

But not me. I stayed.

Because I knew I had to protect
the community that I love so much.

Just like every single
brave member of the SJPD.

That is what it
means to be a hero.

Yeah, maybe it's time for
us to step outside for a sec

before it's our turn
to talk. Come on.

I look around this group

and I know there's a hero in
each and every one of you.

Well, to be honest, I
thought I was invincible.

It took getting shot
for me to realize

that it could all just be over.

In that moment, how did you know
what to do under all that pressure?

That's when all the years of
preparation and training really pay off.

When there's no time to think,

- all you have is instinct and adrenaline.
- Wow.

You must be tired, buddy.

- I'll take it from here.
- Yeah.

I can't sit too long with
this bullet in my back.

Nice chatting with you, kid.

Can I have a book?

Yeah, yeah.

Thanks.

I think the secret
to public speaking

is kind of being comfortable
with the silence.

Silence, buddy, is punctuation.

Hey. Great talk, man.

Thanks, Hudson.

Come on, pal. We're up next.

Rex?

Hey, wait!

What happened? Are you okay?

I'm okay. It's the
hero guy that's not.

Your dog attacked him, you know?

Attacked?

It's okay, Rex. It's
going to be okay.

Kyle, when you say that
Rex attacked Mr. Osgoode,

what exactly did you see?

Well, he barked and I
looked up from my book.

Next thing I know, the hero
guy was going down the stairs.

You saw Rex jump on Mr. Osgoode?

- That's how he fell, right?
- No, but did you see him put his teeth

- or his paws on the man?
- Look.

I don't know, man.

- Okay, Kyle.
- Thanks. Thank you for your help.

- Yeah.
- Osgoode.

What the hell happened?

Your dog jumped
me for no reason.

He could've been killed!

He jumped you?

- I don't understand.
- It's no mystery, Hudson.

Your dog is dangerous.

- You mind?
- Charlie!

Hey!

- Charlie.
- Hey!

Listen, you've got to
leave him. I'm sorry.

You can't interfere with this.

They're expecting Rex downtown.

- It's procedure.
- Procedure?

No, Joe, this is a
misunderstanding.

You don't understand. He doesn't
attack if I don't command him.

Look, Charlie, I have two
eyewitnesses who said that he did.

- I don't understand this, Joe.
- What did you see?

- I wasn't there.
- Guys.

There are no security
cameras in the stairwell.

Can I have a minute?

Okay.

Really?

Hey, bud, hi.

Hey. Hey, pal.

It's okay. It's okay.

I'm going to clear
your name, okay?

I promise.

Open the front gate!
Let the K9 through!

Stand back please!

Stand back!

Did you have any sense
something was off about Rex

- before the incident?
- Not at all.

He was calm. He was
enjoying himself, even.

How do we know that it wasn't
Osgoode that provoked him?

We have Osgoode's word, Charlie.

He's an SJPD poster boy.

Local news has video of him
being loaded into the ambulance.

They're having a
field day with it,

asking whether K9 dogs
are dangerous weapons.

- So, how do we fix this?
- I want Rex assessed.

If he did attack, that could
be a sign something is wrong.

With Rex?

Fine. Fine, run your tests.

Whatever it takes to
get Rex back on duty.

In the meantime, I
suggest you go pay Osgoode

a visit in the hospital.

Listen to me.

A little diplomacy here
will go a long way.

How's it going?

Oh, I skipped straight to the
chapter with the shootout.

I mean, it reads like
a scene from John Wick.

This guy, he faced off Luke
Pearson and his goons alone!

He's got nerves of steel.

He doesn't share John
Wick's affection for dogs.

You think he did
something to Rex?

I can't imagine Rex would
attack him without reason.

I don't know. Osgoode seems
like a good guy. A real cop.

- It just doesn't make any sense.
- Real cop?

Are you letting that mean
girl get into your head?

Okay. I bought harem pants

when Stinky Stacy said they
looked hot on Justin Bieber.

I'm impressionable.

This is different. It...

Sarah, I want to be more
than a desk cop, you know?

Jesse. You are more
than just a desk cop!

You know what?

I think I need to go for
my firearms qualification.

Yeah. Yeah, do you want to go
to the firing range with me?

- I mean, yeah. Sure.
- Okay.

Also, Stinky Stacey?

Yeah. It was really weird. She
gave herself that nickname.

- I got that.
- Yeah.

- What did you do to this?
- I don't know.

Hey, hey, hey!

Come on!

Come on!

Good boy.

Osgoode.

- What are you doing here?
- Come on!

Came in to sign my statement.
Thought I'd check in

on your dog's remedial
training while I was here.

Look, I went to go see
you at the hospital.

I wanted to talk to you
about exactly what happened.

Come on, Hudson.

You should be happy, man!

Your days of being stuck with
a dog for a partner are over.

Come on! Hey!

Maybe now you can take a
crack at being a real cop.

- What is your problem, man?
- Hmm?

Hey! Easy!

Easy, pal!

Easy, pal.

Easy!

Charlie. Rex isn't
reacting to Osgoode.

He's reacting to you
reacting to Osgoode.

- I'm going to need you to leave.
- Uh...

Both of you.

Now!

Hey.

Hey.

I can't imagine the
team without Rex.

It's not going to come to that.

I can't deny how
impressed I am with Rex.

He passed every test
with flying colours

after you and Osgoode left.

And the vet check
came back clean.

He's in great shape.

Yeah, yeah! That's great!

Yeah, I know! That's great, bud!

You're not done.

The problem is there's
no way to determine

why Rex attacked
Osgoode without command.

So, we can't be sure
it won't happen again.

Internal Affairs has spoken.

I'm sorry, Charlie. But um...

Rex is off the team.

So, if nothing's
wrong with Rex...

which we know, buddy,

there's something wrong
with Bruce Osgoode.

You said he left the hospital
before he was examined?

Yeah, they were looking
for him when I arrived.

They wanted to run some tests

because apparently his
pupils were dilated.

Could be a sign of concussion.

Yeah, he also...
could be on drugs.

- Hmm.
- You think that I'm reaching?

Well, it would explain
why he left, but,

Osgoode's got a lot of people
behind him in the department.

- So, you think I should leave it alone?
- No.

No, I think you
should be discreet.

Hmm.

Hey, bud. Um, listen...

You're going to have to
stay here today, okay?

I'm going to be back later.

I'll have an ear on
him today. Alexa.

Tell Rex, Charlie and
Sarah are leaving for work.

Okay, Rex.

Charlie and Sarah
are leaving for work.

I promise.

I'm going to fix this.

See you, pal.

I'm so sorry.

Hey. You're in early.

Yeah, I thought I'd
get a head start.

I ran a full search on Osgoode.

Thanks, Jesse but maybe
make that your last.

You're not taking
this lying down.

No. But Osgoode isn't under
official investigation.

If anyone's going
to take the heat

for looking into
him it should be me.

So, I shouldn't tell you that
Osgoode's file is on the printer tray.

Oh, excuse me.

Are you a friend of Bruce's?

Well, I'm more of
a former colleague.

Could you ask him to please
return Mrs. Zeoli's loaf pan?

Yeah, yeah, I'm on it.

Oh, and remind him

not to use metal utensils.

Tell him to take the
banana bread out,

put it on a plate

and then cut it there, okay?

Okay.

Peace offering.

Thanks.

Come on in. Sorry
about the mess.

I'm actually trying to make
headway on my new book.

- Ah.
- Yeah.

Look, uh, Rex and I have
worked a lot of hours together.

He's never attacked
anybody without cause.

Can you tell me
exactly what he did?

Well, he barked and he lunged.

- He made physical contact?
- He would've,

if I didn't jump back.

I reached for the
rail. My hand slipped.

- You know.
- A lunge isn't in his training.

The bark, though. That's meant
to alert me to something.

- Oh, is it?
- Uh-huh.

- Like what?
- Weapons. Explosives.

Drugs.

Well, I can't help
you there, Detective.

You left the hospital
before you were examined.

Were you worried about
getting a blood test?

Come on, Osgoode.

You've got a bullet
lodged in your back.

I understand you
must be in pain.

People in those circumstances,
they gravitate to opiates.

I left the hospital
because after spending

26 days in the ICU
when I was shot,

I'm not exactly a fan
of the place, okay?

I just don't want my partner
going down because of this.

- The department can get you help.
- Look.

I don't have a drug problem.

Your dog has an
aggression problem.

And you're actually really lucky

that I'm not pushing for
more of a finite solution.

Rex is only a threat to people
who have something to hide

and you were a cop before.

You should know that I'm not letting
my partner go without a fight.

And you should know I'm
not going to be intimidated

by some glorified K9 officer.

Hmm. Get well soon.

Mmmm.

And give Mrs. Zeoli
her loaf pan back.

Shall we talk lighting?

Let's have some
fun with lighting!

When it comes to your porch,

what are the classics we
should be looking out for?

Yes, we want to have
some fun with lighting

in terms of aesthetics.

But lighting that is
made for exteriors.

Are you ready for some fun?

Let's count from five backwards!

Now here's something to really

get your mouth watering.

Gourmet meatballs from scratch.

No pasta required!

These are plump,
juicy and delicious

all by themselves!

I know you want to try one now.

But be patient.

They taste even
better than they look.

So, I'm guessing you called me

because you're looking
for a new partner?

Don't start, Mason.

Will you sit down? You're
making me nervous. Look...

I need somebody who can
make some discreet inquiries

about Bruce Osgoode.

Well, I'm your man!

You know I was working
for his ex-wife

just before their divorce
a couple years back?

- Interesting.
- Nah, not really.

Just run of the mill, you know?

She thought he was cheating.
I couldn't find anything.

She left him anyways.

It's for the best,
becauseabout Bruce Osgoode.

- He's not a nice man.
- Ah.

- To her?
- No, to me!

He caught me tailing him

and put some uniform cop
on me. Some redheaded kid.

I must've had like 50
traffic stops in two months.

Wait a second. Osgoode was
up to something back then.

He's up to something now.

Whatever it was that
alerted Rex to him,

it went out on that
gurney with him.

Well, listen, don't worry, because
I've still got the old files.

We'll get him.

By the way, this is pro bono.

But the client picks up the tab.

Mm-hmm.

We're going to need
a couple of beers.

What's the scenario?

A visiting dignitary
in need of protection?

Orabout Bruce Osgoode.

A saloon in the Old West?

There's no scenario.

There's the target.
You aim right there.

Oh, right. Okay.
That's simple enough.

Okay.

I didn't expect that kind
of kickback from a handgun.

Oh yeah. Same thing happened
to me my first time.

You'll get there with
practice. Here can I just...

can I adjust you?

- Like that?
- Yeah.

Okay.

Okay! That's better. You just
need to get a bit more central.

I'm shooting to disarm.

How's it going to stop him from
pressing the detonator, Jesse?

- You said no scenarios!
- You've got seconds to stop him!

Where did you learn
to shoot like that?

Junior Biathlon champ, 2015.

It's like riding a bike!

So... so why has it taken you so
long to get your certification?

Well, I mean targets are
one thing. But say I...

get a gun. What if I have
to shoot it in real life?

Oh yeah, no, I
felt the same way.

How'd you get through it?

Uh... I read through
police-involved shooting reports.

Yeah, replaced my
fears with facts.

Hmm!

Who is that kid?

So... adultery cases, right?

You're looking for
credit card charges

- and cash withdrawals.
- I thought that

- Osgoode wasn't cheating?
- No, he wasn't.

And there was no strange
activity in his regular accounts.

What do you mean
regular accounts?

The guy had a secret
numbered account.

He made big, big deposits.

Where did you hear this?

The question you
should be asking is,

where did the money come from?

Maybe it had something
to do with this. Look...

Before Osgoode was hero cop,

he was the weakest
link in Narcotics.

- Lowest seizure rate.
- Mmmm.

And he only seized drugs
with a low street value.

Hmm!

You think Osgoode
was taking bribes

to look the other
way on bigger stuff?

That would explain the
money in his secret account.

You know, I know someone that might
have a thing to say about this.

We'll talk to them tomorrow.

There they are.

Be right back.

Hey. Whoah, whoah, whoah!

- Watch out!
- Hey. Miss me already?

I want ears on this.

Got it.

- Ace!
- What are you saying?

- What up man?
- How are you doing?

Hey, listen. Can you
help me with something?

I need a fuller
understanding of a guy,

Officer Bruce Osgoode.
You ever run into him?

Of course. Narcotics
cop he used to be.

- Yeah, he ever bust you?
- Yeah.

- He was cool though. He always let me go.
- What?

No charges?

What did that cost you?

Osgoode didn't ask for money.

He'd take my stash and like
tell me to go back to school

or some such nonsense.

Why did you get
special treatment?

Not just me. We
all knew the deal.

He busts you, you give
up your inventory.

That's just the way it worked
when Osgoode was on the street.

Mmm yeah. Okay, all right!

Stay out of trouble.

Bingo.

Sounds like Osgoode
was seizing drugs

without making arrests
or logging evidence,

so that he could sell
the goods himself.

I guess that's where the money
in his secret account came from.

Ace seemed cool with it.

Maybe Luke Pearson
didn't like it.

Hey, you think that's how Osgoode
found himself in that shootout?

Yeah, yeah. Could be.

I wish we could talk to
one of Luke's men, but,

Osgoode killed them all.

Wait a minute.

Luke had a sister. Uh, Zoey.

Maybe she'll talk to us.

Hmm.

Really?

Your other partner
eat your leftovers?

Uh, sorry. Force of habit.

Hey. Sergeant Barry. Tactical.

Jackson. This is the kid
I was telling you about.

- Hi.
- This guy?

- Yeah!
- Right?

Yeah, hey, hey. Show
him what you got.

Okay!

Whenever you're ready.

- You're SJPD?
- Yeah.

- Special Constable Jesse Mills.
- Yeah.

He wandered in over from
a desk at Major Crimes.

Here, come over and try this.

Three shots.

One, four and five.

Okay.

Alexa, drop in at home.

Okay, dropping in.

Rex, it's okay.
I'll be there soon.

You boys looking for haircuts?

Actually we were hoping to talk
to you about Bruce Osgoode.

Oh. The guy who
killed my brother?

I hear he's on a book tour.

Um, listen. Do you know if

your brother and Osgoode
talked before the shooting?

Luke didn't talk to
me about his business.

I stay clean. Cut hair.

Doesn't look like
you have any clients.

What're you suggesting?

We're not here to talk
about your business, Zoey.

I just want to know if
you'd heard anything.

A dispute maybe between
your brother and Osgoode

- about territory or product?
- I didn't hear about nothing.

Luke didn't talk to me
about his work, okay?

And look, if narcotics
cops rolled up here

and Luke decided
to start shooting,

he only had his own stupid
self to blame. Don't you think?

That salon is a front
if I've ever seen one.

Yeah but why protect the
guy who killed your brother?

Hey, look. I'll tail Osgoode.
See what I can dig up.

Mmm. All right.

Rex?

How are you doing?

Oh, Rex!

Ohhh!

You are having a rough go, huh?

You're worried about what
Charlie's going to say?

Hmmm.

Well, I won't tell if you don't.

And you want treats?

Rex!

Did you eat the rest?

Okay, fair enough.

I guess you are
having a rough day.

Okay. Alexa. Add dog
treats to my shopping list.

Okay, I'll add dog treats
to your shopping list.

Oh.

I'm sorry, Rex.

Reel him in!

Am I interrupting anything?

Your timing's
impeccable, actually.

Word's going around that you're
looking at Bruce Osgoode.

Okay, look,

you said this whole thing would
be playing out a lot differently

if it weren't for
Osgoode's reputation.

His reputation is
smoke and mirrors.

Your little investigation

isn't going to get
Rex reinstated.

But it could have real
blowback on the K9 team.

Tell him, Donovan.

Renley, I think you need
to give us the room.

Please.

Fix it, Joe.

Have a seat.

What have you got
for me, Charlie?

I think Osgoode was seizing drugs
on the street to resell himself.

- Do you have proof?
- Well, I have a dealer

who said that he used
to confiscate product

- without laying charges.
- That's not enough.

Then I'll find more.

Okay, but be discreet.

We do not need to raise
any alarms on this. Go on.

Thanks.

Charlie.

I ran Osgoode's financials.

Jesse, I told you
to stay out of this.

Yeah, well, Joe told me
different and he outranks you.

Well, in that case,
what have you got?

The guy is a big spender. Way
more than his department pension.

What about all the money
from his speaking engagements

- and book deal?
- Book sales were mediocre.

I mean, he could have hired
a ghostwriter to be honest.

Well, he can't still be
selling and seizing drugs

since he's been retired.

Where's all the
money coming from?

- Mason, what have you got?
- Charlie,

drop what you're doing. I
need you to come meet me, man.

Yeah, okay.

Sergeant Barry!

What are you doing here?

I want you to join
the SWAT team.

- Me?
- Yeah!

Surprised the hell
out of me too.

But you're a crack shot.
We'll work on the rest.

Wow, um... okay, I...

Look I don't know how
comfortable I am shooting people.

That's not what SWAT is
about. We use guns, sure.

But only as a last resort.

- Think about it. Okay?
- Yeah.

- Ooh.
- You saw Osgoode here?

Yeah, trying to get in.

Listen, why come back to
the scene of the attack?

Sorry. Sorry, Rex.

Alleged attack?

Well, I assumed that if Rex
alerted to drugs on Osgoode,

he took them with him.
But what if he didn't?

Ohhh!

So you think he might have
dropped them in there?

Well, it's the only way to assure
he wouldn't get caught with drugs.

And then he accuses Rex so that
he doesn't get close again.

Must be really jonesing
if he's considering

breaking into a school.

But he didn't get in again, huh?

Can't see why not.

Oh man!

Maybe that's why, Mason.

You better go before
the cops come.

Ughh.

Find it! Now.

You got something?

Yeah. I see it.

Fentanyl.

You got it, pal.

Hey.

They're almost here.

I'll deal with them.
Get Rex out of here.

All right, come on, boy!

- Hey!
- Hey!

It's not what it looks like.

I should hope not.

What is this?

Pharmaceutical-grade
fentanyl patches.

- Where did you find them?
- At the school.

Osgoode must have had
these on him the other day.

That's why Rex reacted
so strongly to him.

Oh, right. Rex's last encounter
with fentanyl almost killed him.

I mean, he was probably trying
to protect the students, too.

You think Osgoode could have been
prescribed these for personal use?

Uh, not likely. These are
the highest dose available.

- They're usually used for end-of-life care.
- Mmm.

Well, I want to know
where he got them.

- You'll check them for prints?
- Yeah!

You're the best.

Come on, Rex.

I bet you make a great wing man.

Is this still about
the ice cream?

This is extortion, you know?

Here you go, buddy.

Okay, okay, okay.

How do I look?

Yeah.

Ladies!

How are you doing?

This is my friend, Rex.

Charlie.

I've been looking into reports
from police-involved shootings.

- Uh-huh?
- Personal interest. Don't worry about it.

But I looked into one report

from the Osgoode-Pearson
shooting.

And it doesn't track with the
story from Osgoode's book.

- How so?
- We know that Osgoode

- was the only officer on the scene right?
- Yeah, famously so.

- One against three.
- He shot each lieutenant with one single shot.

But Luke Pearson was
shot three times.

Twice from this angle here.

Same direction the
lieutenants were shot from.

Yeah, but it was the third
bullet that killed Pearson.

And that was from
a different angle.

Osgoode moved while
he was firing?

He was shot in the back
by one of the lieutenants

and at that point,
according to his book,

he was unable to move.

But don't ballistics of all
three shots match his gun?

One of the bullets
was never recovered.

Osgoode had an accomplice.

- But who was it?
- I might be able to help with that.

I got two sets of fingerprints
from the fentanyl patches.

- Osgoode and?
- Walt Neville.

He's an active officer.

That's exactly how
Bruce stays flush.

He's still moving drugs

but he's having
Neville seize them now!

Wait.

I think I was there for
the fentanyl hand-off.

You must be tired, buddy.

I'll take it from here.

Nice chatting with you, kid.

Can I have a book?

Thanks.

I think that's the guy Osgoode
set on Mason years ago.

Jesse send me that info. I'm
going to have a word with him.

- Yeah.
- Hey.

Great work!

See?

The shooting reports are key.

I've been putting in some
extra time at the range too.

- Hmmm!
- With the SWAT team.

With the SWAT team?

- With the SWAT team?
- They want me to join them.

Are you considering it?

I mean, look,

I'm sure you guys can
find someone else to...

run your web searches.

But none of us think
that's all you do!

Jesse, you're indispensable!

You just blew this
case wide open!

You've been seizing
drugs from dealers

and giving them to
Bruce Osgoode to sell.

Is that so?

- Prove it.
- Ah, we've got your fingerprints

all over a bag of
fentanyl patches

we found at the school.

Yeah, I'm curious how
he talked you into it.

It seems to me you're
taking the bigger risks.

- How do you figure?
- Osgoode doesn't have a department job

to protect anymore.
No kids, no wife.

God, my wife's going to kill me.

We're the ones that put
our lives on the line

while drug dealers
are getting rich.

- The system is...
- Stop! Just stop.

That is the same excuse that
every corrupt cop tries to peddle.

What, did Osgoode
teach you that?

What? Did he start with something
like a dime bag here and there,

it only hurts the
scumbag dealer?

And before you know it, you're
helping him kill Luke Pearson.

- Accomplice to murder.
- Wait, now!

I know that you're mad
at Osgoode about your dog

bi>But that's taking it too far!

I don't believe
Osgoode was ambushed.

- I think he made the move on Pearson!
- For what?

To keep them from retaliating?
Take over his turf? You tell me!

There was a second
shooter! Was that you?

- I wasn't there!
- Right now I have you

for supplying drugs
to Bruce Osgoode,

for doing traffic stops on
somebody he wanted off his tail.

I would have no problem
going upstairs right now

and convincing them
you're his errand boy

- doing whatever he told you to do!
- Not for what you're saying!

- Not for murder!
- Then tell me who!

Listen, you've got to help me.

Zoey Pearson. His side hustle
back then was with her. Not me.

Why would Zoey
betray her brother?

She wanted in on the business.

Luke just saw her
as his kid sister.

Wouldn't give her any
power in the crew.

Osgoode told her what
she wanted to hear.

Made her a partner.

And that's why she took his
side when I talked to her.

Wait. You talked to her? When?

Today.

Zoey called earlier.

Asked is Osgoode
becoming a liability?

I didn't know what she
was on about. But now...

Listen, I know I screwed
up but I'm still a cop.

If you go after
her, be prepared.

Zoey's dangerous.

If she figures out that you're
on to her about the shooting,

watch out.

Mason, I need Rex.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay, on our way.

There you go, buddy.

Yeah.

Drop the gun, Zoey, I'm
here to bring him in.

Everyone just
needs to calm down.

Bring him in for what?

For killing Luke.

Yeah, I want to see him pay

for what he did to your family.

A little late for
that, don't you think?

I guess when I
found the fentanyl

that you hid when
Rex sniffed you out,

you were high when you
went down the stairs

which is why you left
the hospital. Look, Zoey,

I don't care about you.
I'm here to arrest Osgoode.

You're never gonna let
me walk after this.

Give me a second.
Give me a second.

I'll get this open.

- What are you doing there?
- Shhhh!

- I am calling the police!
- Yeah, ask for Major Crimes!

- What on earth?
- Rex!

Nobody's going to
hold this against you.

Osgoode killed your brother.

Look, the way that I see it,

is that you came here to confront
him. It's understandable,

if you put the gun down now.

Not gonna happen, Detective.

I can prove that
Osgoode was a dirty cop

who murdered his rivals.

He even lured a young
officer into helping him out.

You know that Neville
respected you?

That's until you turned
him into a killer

for shooting her brother.

Don't listen to him, Zoey.

If I go down, you do
too. You know this.

Shut up, Bruce!

Both of you... Sit down now!

Sit! I just... I just need
a second to think, okay?

I just... um...

Rex!

Um...

I wasn't always a
bad cop, you know.

Save it for your next book.

Bruce.

What the...?

Stay back!

Yeah, she's still alive.
Call an ambulance.

No.

Come on, Hudson. I
don't think so, pal.

Okay, yeah, I get it.

You shoot me with Zoey's gun so
she's the one who killed the cop.

Yeah and my gun's the gun
that killed the cop-killer.

You think this is
my first rodeo?

Make sure you get your
position right this time.

My team is going to know
to check your story.

Hey, did Rex really
jump you at the school?

Or did he just alert to you
like he was supposed to do?

And then you stepped
backwards off the stairs

so he wouldn't expose you.

I was so high, I
didn't even feel it.

Ughh!

You feel that?

That's what it feels like
when Rex really attacks you.

Somebody call for backup?

You're under arrest for
the murder of your brother.

Wait I'm the victim here!
You said so yourself!

Zoey. I know you were
the second shooter.

It was Osgoode.
He made me do it!

- He forced me into it!
- Uh-huh.

My man. Nice work, partner.

Okay. So, now I see
where I stand here!

You and Rex saved my life today.

Which kind of means
you owe me one?

I've got a date tonight and I
was thinking of borrowing Rex.

Absolutely not.

Ma'am, are you all right?

I was just uh...

And then...

And bang! And then I'm just...

Okay okay. Let's get you
sitting down okay? Here.

Here.

Thank you, Officer.

I see you're taking good
care of my friend here.

- I believe you're looking for this.
- Oh.

What lovely gentlemen.

You realize tactical

is the coolest assignment
on the force, right?

Major Crimes is
cool enough for me.

Yeah, I heard you gave a
blanket to an old lady today.

Big deal.

It was for her.

If you change your mind...

You'll be the first to know.

You know, I've always
loved this thing?

- Really?
- Never noticed it.

Yeah if something
happened to it,

I'd be pretty heartbroken.

Then I might consider
putting it on a higher shelf.

I know I don't need to
tell you this but...

cleaning up a crime scene,

is a crime.

Yeah, but it was in
the name of justice

because I mean nothing turns
a good dog into a criminal

faster than putting
him into doggy jail.

- Oh, welcome back, Rex.
- Oh, well, then.

To Rex's exoneration.

Oh!

Okay, come on! Come on! Oh, boy!

Oh, yeah!

Ohhh.

The best.

Just the best.

Next time on Hudson & Rex...

This is your last chance
to cross the snake pit

for our $100,000 prize.

The victim is Alex Davies, owner
of a local board game company.

- Cottage Games is valued at $6,000,000.
- Who killed Alex?

- You got Raya...
- Alex's business partner,

who wants to sell and there's
the son Marcus who doesn't.

You're betraying my dad and
I. You are the snake here.

Todd Harvey, the investor, and
Steve Sader, the angry inventor.

I didn't kill Alex

OK, everyone stay very still.
