Heartland (2007–…): Season 10, Episode 18 - Greater Expectations - full transcript

With Caleb and Cassandra's wedding as well as the birth of Amy and Ty's baby on the horizon, everyone is rushing to make sure both events go down without a hitch.

Georgie: Previously on "Heartland".

- One of our major investors
just pulled out at the last minute.

- So when is the big day?

- Well, we can't do it
without Ty,

So as soon as he's back,
it's happening.

- Ready to go? Hey.
- Hey.

- Peter and I are going
for dinner

with an investor friend of his.
- Uh, cross my fingers for you.

For both of you.

- There is a reason
that Peter is your ex.

Please don't go into business
with him.

- I got your test back from the lab,

and it looks like the antibiotics
are starting to work.

Then I don't see why you won't
make a full recovery.

(Relieved sighs)

(Hooves thunder)

- Come on.

(Clicks tongue)

Let's go.
Good boys. Come on.

There you go.

Amy: Hey, Georgie,
do you need a hand?

- You need to relax.
- I am relaxed.

- No, you're not.
- Okay, fine.

I'm not going to until Ty
gets out of the hospital.

- When's he getting home?
- Soon. I hope.

Maybe today?

It'll be great.
He's going stir crazy.

- So are you.

(Horses whinny)
- Yeah.

What's got into them?
- Who knows.

(Horses whinny)

Hey, Georgie.

There he is.

That's Ghost. The horse
I was telling you about.

- The one who got caught in a fence?

- Yeah.

- He's beautiful.

Maybe I can see if his cuts
are all healed up?

- No, it's okay.
- Yeah, I'll try to get closer.

Easy.

(Snorts)

(Slow exhale)

(Whinnies)

(Snorts)
(Crow caws)

Sorry, I shouldn't have
gotten so close,

but his cuts look healed up.

- That's good. At least we know
he's all right.

- You okay?
- Yeah. Yeah.

It's just, I don't know what
it is about that horse,

but every time I see him
something bad happens.

Like, Ty getting sick.

(Shivers) It's freezing.
Let's get these horses inside.

- You need a bigger coat.
A much bigger coat.

Amy: Very funny.

(Georgie giggles)

Caleb: Hey! What do you think
you're doing, Amy?

You shouldn't be messing
around with the horses.

Not this late in the game.
- And that's what I told her.

- Why don't you go inside,
put your feet up.

Do whatever pregnant ladies do.
- Thanks, Caleb.

You know, a few days ago,

I had no problem bringing
the horses in by myself.

But, I don't know, the baby
must have dropped or something.

It's getting harder to walk.

- Yeah, way too much
information for a cowboy.

- Sorry.
(Groans) So...

How are the wedding plans going?

- Good. I mean, you know Cass,

she's crazy nervous about every
last little detail, but--

Tim: She should be nervous.

She should be terrified.

So, Amy,
doctor's appointment today.

I can drive you into town,
but we're gonna have to leave early.

- I don't know if that's gonna work.
I want to visit Ty.

- I can give you a ride.
We can visit Ty together.

- Well, if you two can do that,
that'd be very helpful.

- Okay, great.
I'll be ready in a few minutes.

- Cool.

- So... you're really gonna go through
with this marriage, huh?

- Yeah. (laughs)

It's only a couple days away.

Cass' parents get into town
tomorrow.

- I can only imagine what's
going through their heads...

Their college educated
veterinarian daughter,

marrying an unemployed,
divorced rodeo cowboy.

- Actually,
I gotta ask you something.

Can I have a job? Full-time job
at your rodeo school?

Georgie: (Exhales)

Guess what Amy and I just saw?

That horse Cass fixed up, Ghost.

- No kidding. How’s he look?

- Good. His cuts are all healed up.
- Well, it's good to hear that.

- Yeah, but I kinda feel bad for him.

All alone. No one to take care of him.

- Ghost has looked after himself
pretty well over the years.

- Yeah, but he got himself caught up
in that barbed wire fence.

Do you think a wild horse
could ever actually be broke?

- Well, it can be done,
for sure, but it ain't easy.

Amy tried with Ghost.

- Really? Amy tried to gentle him?

- Yeah. Boy, that was a long time ago.

And it wasn't a good experience.

You know, sometimes,
they just wanna be wild.

- Yeah, I don't get that
feeling with Ghost.

I feel like he wants
or almost needs to be here.

I know Amy tried,
but maybe I can gentle him.

Can you help me?

- (Sighs)

- So how did your appointment go?

- Well, the doctor said I'm ready
to have this baby at any moment.

I told her I'm waiting 'til Ty
gets out of the hospital.

And her words?
"Good luck with that."

- Well, he's gotta get
out of the hospital.

I'm not getting married
without my best man.

- Caleb, Ty not coming
to your wedding

is slightly different than him
missing the birth of his child.

Get some perspective.
(Caleb laughs)

I hate this place.

Every time I come here,
I start to sweat.

- The maternity ward is upstairs.
I'll take you there right away.

Uh, we'll let your husband
know when you're settled in.

- Oh, we're not married.

Actually, I'm about to marry
someone else.

Amy: And I'm not,
I'm not in labor.

Thanks.

- Did you see the look
on her face?

- That was not funny. I mean, why
did she even think I was in labor?

- In all fairness, you're kinda
waddling like a duck.

No offence.
- None taken.

Dr. Holt.

- Amy. Good to see you.
- Yeah, you too.

So, can my husband
come home today?

- I can't do anything about it.
They've brought in a specialist

just to make sure
I'm absolutely good to go,

but they still wanna run more tests.

- More tests, why?!
- I don't know,

but I can't leave until
they've done them.

- So, you're basically
just a prisoner here?

to see that happen.

So, we have a deal?

Well, that just wouldn't
go over well.

- (Sighs) No, Caleb, that is not
how you start a marriage.

- Well, what am I gonna do?

I mean, they're gonna be
at the wedding,

they're gonna meet you
and they're gonna ask.

- You're gonna have to work that out

- So, how’s Ty?

- I thought they were
letting him out today?

- Yeah, but now they have to run more tests.
- Why more tests?

- What? They still don't know
what's going on?

- Dad, no. Now they're
bringing in a specialist.

- A specialist?

- They wanna be sure he doesn't

- No. None of it makes sense.

- Okay, that's enough.
- Well, here's a plan:

why don't you have the baby
in his hospital room.

That would be handy,
wouldn't it?

- I told all of you,
I'm not having this baby

at the hospital, okay?

I spoke with my doctor today,
everything is fine.

- What, you're still set
on having the baby in the barn?

- You can't really call
the loft a barn.

- A home birth with a midwife

has always been my first plan,
Lou, you knew that.

And besides... you were the one
who told me to go take classes with Margo

in the first place.
- I know, Amy.

- And you had Katie at home.
- Yeah, but not by choice.

I mean, you and Ty delivered Katie.
Anything could've happened.

- Yeah, well you're lucky
that me and Ty were there.

- Amy?
- Okay.

the go ahead,

then I'm sure it's fine.
- (Sighs) Dad.

You were at my prenatal classes,

- Okay, you're right. I can do this.

- Wow, um, Peter...

you don't have to do that.

if that's a good idea.

- Well, hey, look,
what I don't want

is for all your hard work,

not to mention the passion you put
into this project to go to waste, okay?

I wanna do this for you.

- Are you sure about this?
- Absolutely.

- Ah...

Shoot. I forgot I have an
appointment in town, um,

but I'm gonna think about that,
okay?

Your offer, it's so generous.
Really.

I just, I gotta run, okay?

- Okay.

(Door shuts)

(Small laugh)

(Low hum of chatter)

(Elevator dings)

- Caleb?! What are you doing
here, man?

- I'm gonna get you outta here,

- You're not still sick, right?

- Right.

- And you're not contagious,
right?

- Right. Yeah--
- Good.

Let's go.

(Wheelchair rattles)

(Heels clop)

- Excuse me.

- Thank you, nurse.

- Yeeow! Get in and let's go.

(Excited laughter)

- Surprise.

- Ty! Oh, they let you out.
- Hey, Amy.

- This is amazing!

(Sighs) They... they did
release you, right?

- Well, not exactly, um...

- You went AWOL? Are you crazy?

-Yes I am.
- Hey.

Good to see you on your feet.
- Thank you.

- So they finally let you out.

- Well, actually I...
I sprung him out.

It's just like "The Great Escape."
Super awesome, man.

- You sprung him out?

- Yeah, yeah.
- Genius.

- You guys are all crazy.

(Happy laugh)

- I understand.

Well, thank you, Dr. Holt,
I appreciate that.

Okay, thanks.

Bye.
(Phone beeps off)

Okay, so I got a reprieve.

- How?

- Well, I told her the truth,

that your doctor said you could
go into labor at any moment

and I need to be here, I just
have to report back after.

- After what?

The birth of our child
or Caleb's wedding?

- I was kind of vague
about that part.

(Both laugh)

-You do realize that
this is the first time

we've been alone together
in our loft for months?

- Yeah. Not since I left
for Mongolia.

- Yeah.

Welcome home, stranger.

- Thank you.
(Giggles)

Georgie: Oh, it's okay.

Ah!
(Clicks tongue)

(Nervous snorting)

- Can we talk?

- Hm. That doesn't sound good.

- Look.

I know that you hate
that Peter is involved

with this Maggie's deal at all,
but guess what?

The other guy dropped out

and Peter has offered to be
the sole investor.

- Of course he has.

- And if I say no,
I run the risk of--

- Losing everything.
Yeah, I know.

- I haven't given him
an answer yet.

But if I say yes, it is strictly business.
Nothing more.

And let's face it, Mitch,
I've run out of options here.

What should I do?

- Okay, how about a little
you and me alone time

and we can talk about it.

- Yes. I would love that,
Mitch, but I can't.

I can't, I have...
(Kissing)

...have a million errands
to run, okay?

- Okay.

Okay. Yeah. Oh, Lou, before you go,

you've got to give me
the details on this wedding.

Do you still need me
to pick you up?

- Right, um, Peter was supposed
to fly out tonight,

but we have this deal
to work out now, so--

- So, he's coming
to the wedding?

- (Huffs) Would you rather
I didn't come then?

- No, no, of course not.

- Lou, you're,
you're killing me here.

- What? Why?
- Face it.

You can't bring yourself
to go to a wedding with me

if Peter's gonna be there.
- That is not true.

- Okay, then, yeah,
I'll come with you.

You see”? You're uncomfortable.
I get it.

But Lou, I still think there's
something between you too.

- Of course there is, Mitch,
it's called two kids.

But that's it.

You know what?
Come to the wedding, okay?

I will text you the details.

Yes?

- Yes.
- Okay.

I'll see you tomorrow.

- See ya.

- Yes. These shoes are way
too tight!

- Amy, you look great.
You look beautiful.

- No, I don't.
- Yes, you do.

- Doesn't she look beautiful?
- Stunning.

- Thanks, Caleb. You look
very handsome yourself.

- Thank you.

- Thank you.
- Tiny flowers for the man.

And I don't mean to put

but I told Cass I'd be
at the church early.

- Okay, well let's do this.

- Oh, no-no. I got this crazy vehicle for us.

And there's even tons
of room for Amy.

big or anything.

Let's get this party started.
- All right, man.

- You know, they had one

- I hope so.

- (Groans in discomfort)

- You okay?
- Yeah.

- Yeah, you sure?
- Yeah, I'm fine.

Caleb: All right.

Ty: Easy now.

- Here, let me give you
a hand out of there.

Ty: You okay?
Caleb: You okay?

Ty: Amy, are you...?
Are you...?

-Um...
- Uh, we need to go.

We need to go home now.
Ty: Yeah, okay.

Caleb: Back in the limo.

in the church!

You aren't supposed to see me
before the wedding!

- I didn't see anything.
- What are you doing?

- Look... (stammers nervously)

- But where are you going?

- Okay, let's go.
- Go, go!

- Are you just... are you

Listen, Lou, I gotta go.
I'll call you back, okay? Okay.

- Okay, tell her to meet us

and then call Dr. Adler
and say that I'm in labor.

- Breathe, Amy, breathe.
Breathe.

Straight to voicemail. I'm gonna
leave her a message, okay?

Margo! Hi, it's Ty Borden.
Amy's husband.

Listen, she's in labor right now,

we're heading to Heartland.
Can you meet us there

as soon as you possible?
Thanks. Call me.

- Oh my God.
- Okay, just relax, Amy.

Just relax, we'll be okay. We'll be okay.
Breathe. Yeah, that's good.

Okay, here we are.

You're home how. You're okay.

- Did you get a hold of Margo yet?

- I called, then I left
her some messages.

- Messages? We've got to get
Amy to the hospital!

Sir, can you take us
to the hospital?

Peter: Lou, calm down.
- I'm calm. I'm really calm.

Ty: Okay, how.

Al right?
- Yeah.

- Okay, let's get you settled.
- Amy, I'm here for you!

I'll get her out of her dress, Ty.

- Oh, okay.
- I got you, honey.

Oh, I got you.
- I'll get this out of the way.

Lou: All right, in we go.
I got you.

Okay, let's get your coat off.
Amy: Okay.

- Yeah, just give me a second,
Amy, let me try...

-I can do it, Lou!
- No-no-no, you just relax...

I'll pull the sleeve.
Amy: Okay. Okay. Just stop it!

Tim: Okay, I just heard.
I'm here. Where is she?

- She's with Lou.
Just hold on though, okay?

- I'm her coach.
- She's getting changed.

- Amy, breathe, honey, just breathe!
You know the drill.

- Margo, the contractions
are getting closer together.

Amy is in labor!
Call me back, please!

She's not answering. I told her
this was a stupid idea.

Amy, I told you
this was a stupid idea!

- Lou, you know what? Please,
I do not need this right now.

Just leave.
Lou: Okay.

Yeah, I'll just, I'll come back
and check on you.

Oh my God.
- Just breathe, Lou.

Okay. Amy, your coach is here.

(Barn doors swing open)

Peter: Hey.
- How's Amy?

Peter: I don't know.
- The girls are in the house.

- Margo, answer the phone.
Amy's having this baby.

- Lou, you gotta calm down.

- I'm calm, okay, Peter?
Don't tell me to calm down!

- I'm gonna check on the girls.

- Where's Margo?
You know, where is she?

I'm gonna call Dr. Adler.
That's what I'm gonna do.

- Breathe, okay?

- Yeah, he's right.
Breathe, just breathe.

- I am trying! Please,
give me some space.

- Okay. It's okay, Amy.
Here, here, take my hand.

Breathe, Amy.
Just breathe, okay?

-Ty. Ty.

- Okay, just one second.
There you go.

- Ty.
- What?

- (Grunts) Don't go.

- Okay, just...

Amy, just need to...
I just need to...

- Ty!
- I'll be right back, okay?

What?
- Where's Margo?

She should be here by now.

- If worst comes to worst,
I can deliver this baby, okay.

- You're a vet!

- No, I get that Amy
wants a midwife,

that she trusts a midwife,

but what good is a midwife
if she's not here when she needs to be.

-I am here, Lou.
- Oh, thank goodness.

- Nice to see you too.
Where's Amy?

Everyone: Upstairs!

Ty: I wouldn't miss this, Amy.

Amy: Ty, I'm so glad
you're here.

Ty: You're doing amazing.
Just breathe.

- Margo, she's in the
transitional stage right now.

That-that's what the book says.

- That's it.
Amy, you're doing great.

Okay, and baby's doing great.

Good.

Now I want you to stop pushing
for the moment, okay?

- Okay.

- Al right. All right.

You're almost there.

- Just breathe, Amy.
Just breathe.

Margo: Just breathe.

Baby's crowning. Okay.

(Screams in pain)

- Good, good. Chin down, honey.

Oh! Okay. I think the chin--

- Baby's doing great. Okay?

(Approaching footsteps)

Lisa: Hey.
- Hey.

Lisa: How is she?
- Uh, good. They're all good.

Yeah.

- Way to go, coach. Nice job.
- Thanks.

- I feel like I should be
up there with her.

Like, I should check on her.
- Oh no. Honey, they're fine.

They're fine without you -
even you.

- Hey.

- Baby? Oh.
- No, not yet.

- So, you two got married?

Caleb: Yes, we did.

- Caleb was incredible. I thought
he was running out on me,

but he was just so concerned
for Amy,

he wouldn't leave her side.

Lisa: Well, look at you.
Come here.

How’s Amy?
Lou: She's okay,

but you know,
it took Margo two hours...

- Good for you.
- Thanks.

So we decided something.

We're gonna tell Case's parents
the truth.

You were right.

You can't start a marriage
with a lie.

- Well, it wouldn't be a lie
if I hired you.

(Sighs)

What? You're full of surprises,
Caleb.

You sprung your buddy, Ty,
from the hospital,

so he could be with Amy.

You were there for Amy
when she needed you the most.

I'm impressed. You're hired.

- Thanks. Thanks, Tim!

- Yeah. Don't screw it up.

- Okay, you're gonna give me
one big push, okay, Amy?

Take a deep breath.
Baby's ready.

Ty: Okay. That's it, Amy.
You got it, you got it.

(Effort grunts)
You got it.

(Big exhale)
- Looks good.

Caleb: So, how's this
for a wedding night?

Cass: It's pretty eventful.

(Baby cries)

- Hi!
- It's a girl.

- Hey. Oh, she's beautiful.
- It's a girl, Amy.

- Yeah, she is.
- Hey.

- She's perfect.
- Hey.

- You're amazing, Amy.

- Hey... sweetheart. It's okay.

(Happy laughter)

Hey...

- You were amazing.

Hey...

Hey...

(Ghost whinnies loudly)
(Amy laughs)

- I love this chair, Grandpa.

- Well, we finished it
just in time, didn't we, Lis.

- Yeah.
- Well, thank you, both of you.

- Oh, you're so cute.

- She's so wonderful.

- And Amy, you were wonderful.

- So was my coach.

So were you.

- I think she kinda looks like me.

- (Chuckles)

- Actually, she's the spitting
image of Marion

when she was born.

Amy: Well, Mom would be happy.

- We haven't picked out
a first name yet,

but Amy and I were thinking,
for her middle name,

we would call her--
- Marion.

Lisa: Oh, that's lovely.
Lou: Oh. I'm so glad.

Amy: I think it suits her.
Lou: Yeah, it does.

(Horse whinnies outside)

(Nervous snorting
and whinnying)

- I need to go calm him down.

It's not working.

I tried, Jack. I really did,
but he's not happy.

- Well, you can't force some things
to happen no matter how hard you try.

(Ghost whinnies)

(Hooves thud, nervous snorting)

- Dr. Holt.

Yeah, yeah. The baby was born
last night.

It’s a girl!

Thank you!

Oh, you're kidding!

(Sighs) Well, that's great news.

Yeah. Thank you.

Okay. We'll talk later!
Okay, bye.

Lou: Here you go, Lisa.

- Just got off the phone
with the doctor,

the results came back,
they're all clear!

I'm officially a free man!
Lisa: Congratulations.

- A free man?
Oh, I don't think so.

(Small laugh)
Not for a long time.

- (Chuckles)

(Chuckles)
(Baby coos)

Peter: Sorry, I have to leave.

I gotta get things going
at the bank

and uh, they're gonna send you
those papers to sign too so...

But you know what
I was thinking is...

why don't you come to Vancouver
to sign the papers?

And that way we can spend
some time together.

Maybe go out to dinner.

Make a thing of it, you know?

I'll be fun. What do you say?

- Peter, I haven't actually said yes
to your business proposal yet.

- Oh. Uh... I just assumed.

- No, I know.

And I would, I would love
to say yes.

I mean, I hate the idea of
losing the Maggie's project.

It's... it's almost unthinkable.

Um... but even more than that,

I hate the idea of wrecking
what you and I have.

- It's not gonna wreck it.

- Well, it might... it might.

Peter, because something
feels wrong.

Something, it feels like
you think this is a way

of keeping us involved,

together...

- No. That's...

that is not why I offered.

- It was so generous of you
to offer to help me.

But it wouldn't be good for us.

Or me.

- That's, that's really
how you feel?

- Yeah. I do.

- Okay. Okay...

I mean, I do get that things
are good with us and the kids

the way they are.
I do get that. I...

- Yeah. This-I...
This is for the best.

- Okay.

- Hey... thank you.

- Yeah. If you change your mind,
give me a call.
