Hawaii Five-O (1968–1980): Season 7, Episode 19 - Study in Rage - full transcript

Mike (Richard Hatch) carries a torch for Glynis (Gretchen Corbett) and concocts an elaborate scheme, involving multiple murders, so that they can be together. To catch the killer the Five-O team must analyze a surreal painting a psychiatrist made of Mike's disturbed mental state.

( suspenseful theme playing)

LORD: This is Jack Lord

inviting you to be
with us next for:

WOMAN: Is that you, darling?

LORD: "Study in Rage."

McGARRETT: We
have five compartments.

Each of them illustrating
something in the suspect's past,

something which he told
Dr. Spear, we assume,

during the visits,

and something which Dr. Spear
later translated to canvas.

Our major problem is
trying to comprehend

Dr. Spear's symbolism.

Let go of me. You
better come back.

If it hadn't been
for your father.

He had nothing to
do with the way I felt.

You don't have to lie to me.
It was him. He broke us up!

And he won't be able to
do it this time! I saw to that!

You killed my father.

McGARRETT (over
bullhorn): Opana.

McGarrett, Five-0.
You're surrounded.

Break out the gas guns.

Danno, get us some masks.

We'll lob in a few canisters,
see if we can take him alive.

He killed my father!

LORD: Next, "Rage."

Be here. Aloha.

( upbeat surf theme playing)

MAN (over TV): And headlining
the local news, a bizarre murder case.

The Coast Guard returned
to Honolulu this morning,

carrying the body of a
50-year-old Los Angeles man,

Victor Martin.

Last night, the Coast Guard
answered a distress call

from a cabin cruiser, which
the murdered man had rented

for a solo voyage to Kauai.

After a search of several hours,

the Coast Guard found

a rubber life raft adrift.

Sprawled in the raft
was the body of Martin.

He had been bludgeoned to death.

Debris found floating
around the life raft indicated

that the cabin cruiser
had been burned and sunk

after Martin's
body was set adrift.

Martin, chairman of the
board of Martin Industries,

was visiting Honolulu

on a combined business
and vacation trip.

Neither H.P.D. nor Hawaii Five-0

have yet uncovered
any leads in the case.

More news after this message.

(turns TV off)

MAN 1: It was his fault.

It was all his fault.

MAN 2: Look, Mike, you
don't know that for a fact.

MIKE: Doc, I'm telling
you, it was Victor Martin.

I should've split
his skull open.

If he'd have stayed
out of it, Glynis and me,

we would've made it.

Martin ever comes
back to this island,

so help me, I'll kill him.

Everybody said, "Glynis
and Mike, no way."

He had it made, doc.
It was right, you know?

It was for real.

We loved each other.

Man, the plans I had for us.

And then... (recording stops)

JENNY (over phone
): Hawaii Five-0.

This is Dr. Spear.

Oh, hello, doctor. SPEAR:
Is Mr. McGarrett in?

JENNY: No, I'm sorry. He's
in Hilo with the governor.

I see. Is Mr. Williams in?

Yeah, just a moment.

Danny, will you take
this, please? It's Dr. Spear.

Williams. Hello, doctor.

Mr. Williams,

I may have some information
on the Victor Martin murder.

I'd like to talk to you. Can
you come to my office?

I'm on my way.

Chin, let's go.

( ominous theme playing)

(grunting)

Looks like he was after
something other than Dr. Spear.

The question is: Did he get it?

What can you tell us, Doc?

Not much, except whatever
he was strangled with

was no more than maybe a
16th of an inch in diameter.

(phone ringing) Any
idea what it was?

Smooth surface. Strong.

Chance some fibers were
embedded in the victim's neck.

Tell you after the autopsy.

Soon as you can, huh, Doc?

Danny.

Frank, out at the Ilikai.

Yeah, Frank? Just
finished going through

Victor Martin's
personal effects.

Did you find any link
between Martin and Dr. Spear?

No, but I found an address
for a Glynis Martin in L.A.

DANNO: His wife?

His daughter.

DANNO: Okay.
Notify her right away.

Place is all yours. How
you do on prints, Che?

Lots of them.

Who belongs to what and
how many different sets

I'm gonna have to untangle.

Okay, thanks.

Well, Chin, we may as
well start getting this place

pulled back together.

Oh. Go through
Dr. Spear's files and papers

and see if you can find Martin's
name mentioned anywhere.

Okay.

(phone rings) Williams.

Just got back to
the office, Danno.

Jenny brought me up to
date. What's happening there?

We're just wrapping
it up here, Steve.

Okay, I'm going out
to the Spear home.

I wanna talk to
the doctor's widow.

Keep me posted.

( mysterious theme playing)

Just before your husband died,
Mrs. Spear, he called Five-0.

He claimed to have
some information

about the murder
of Victor Martin.

Arthur?

Why, what could he
possibly know about it?

I was hoping you could tell me.

Well, I haven't
the faintest idea.

Could Victor Martin have been
a patient of your husband's?

Well, that's entirely possible,

but, well, I'm afraid I
can't help you there, either.

Arthur made it a point

never to discuss
his patients with me.

I see.

Do you mind if I
have a look around?

Why, no, of course not.

All of these paintings were
done by your husband?

Yes.

Quite an artist.

( dramatic theme playing)

Strange.

Yes, but don't ask
me what it means.

All I know is that it
was Arthur's latest idea.

Trying to capture on canvas

what went on in the
minds of one of his patients.

He brought home
taped interviews.

Arthur always... Always
recorded his patients.

Any idea what these
letters and numbers mean?

MRS. SPEAR: No.

( ominous theme playing)

MAN (over speaker
): Paging Dr. Chou.

Telephone call
for Dr. M.S. Chou.

Telephone call for Dr. Chou.

Dr. Chou.

Oh, yes. Mrs. Landry.

CHOU: Is he running
a temperature?

Well, then I wouldn't worry.

Let's keep him on the
medication I prescribed

for another day or two.

Fine. Goodbye.

Hi, Mike. Morning.

How you feeling? Better, thanks.

Say, did you hear
about Dr. Spear?

Yeah, I heard.

Were you still seeing him?

Not for months. Terrible thing.

Terrible. Yeah.

Are you ready, doc? Let's go.

( ominous theme playing)

(ringing)

Hello?

Yes, he is.

It's for you.

Thank you. McGarrett.

Not a sign of Martin's
name here, Steve.

But I came up with something.

According to the sequence
of Spear's filing system,

one of the files
seems to be missing.

Anything else gone?

Yeah. The corresponding tapes
with the same code numbers.

I found the book that
breaks down the code letters,

but all it tells is the
name of the doctor

who referred the
patient, and the date.

CHIN: The referring
doctor was William Chou.

"1037 Koloa Avenue, Kahala."

Find him, Chin, and ask
him to come to the office.

And, Chin, you mentioned
a file that was missing.

What were the code
letters and numbers?

"WK-42-74." (
ominous theme playing)

Mean anything to you?

Yeah.

A portrait of a killer.

WOMAN (over phone
): Dr. Chou's office.

I'd like to speak to
Dr. Chou, please.

WOMAN: I'm sorry,
but Dr. Chou isn't in.

This is his answering service.

If you'd care to
leave a message...?

Well, this is Chin Ho
Kelly, Hawaii Five-0.

Can you tell me where I
can find him? Now, it's urgent.

WOMAN: The doctor
said he could be reached

at the Keokea
Tennis Club until 2:00.

Thanks.

Time.

Great volley, Mike.
Jeez, I really enjoyed it.

Well, keep it up, doc,
you'll be stealing my job.

(chuckles) Some chance.

I'll see you on Wednesday. Yeah.

( ominous theme playing)

I was told by Dr. Chou's
answering service

that I could find him here.

If you give me your
name, I'll have him paged.

Phil, get an ambulance quick.

Dr. Chou has had a heart attack.

( tense theme playing)

Soon, baby, soon.

MAN (over radio): Three
T-77, the one on Queen...

CHIN: Did you see Dr. Chou
before he went out on the court?

MAN: I did, in the locker room.

CHIN: Did he say
anything about how he felt?

MAN: No. I mean, you know,
I said, "How are you, doc?"

And he said, "Well,
fine," or, "Great,"

or something like that.

We were just standing
there having a drink,

and all of a sudden,
he starts getting dizzy.

We were kidding him about
getting loaded on one drink.

You know. Yeah.

Then the next thing,
he... He starts gasping.

He jerks a little,
and down he goes.

He take any pills or
medication? Anything like that?

I didn't see any.
(engine starts)

Okay. Thank you.

(siren blaring)

We, uh... We had
this here rally going.

Maybe it was too much for him.

Well, I don't know.

Dr. Chou was always
kind of pushing too hard.

Did he seem ill
to you in any way?

Not the way he was playing.
No, sir. He seemed fine.

Is there anything
else you can tell us?

I wish I could, but
that's all I know.

Okay, thanks.

They're pretty shook-up.

One minute, the doctor's
having a drink, joking with them.

The next minute, he gets dizzy,
starts choking and drops dead.

That's all they saw,
and that's all they know.

Maybe that's all they told you.

Respiratory failure?

No, Doc. No, no,
that's not good enough.

That's all I can
tell you right now.

Look, Doc,

we've got two
murders on our hands.

Two within the past 24 hours,
and somehow they connect.

Then we get a lead on somebody

who just might
lead us to the killer,

and when we get
to him, he's dead.

Now, do you expect me
to buy respiratory failure?

It's gonna have to
do until the autopsy.

Okay, Doc, make it fast.

(ringing)

McGarrett.

Yeah, Danno.

When?

How is he?

Did you get anything from him?

No, no, no. I don't
want anything touched.

Get the lab boys over there,

and go over the
place inch for inch.

Yeah, thank you.

H.P.D. answered a call

from a cleanup man
in Dr. Chou's building.

The guy went in. The
doctor's office was open.

Before he could look around,

somebody creased
his skull with a lamp.

And the files?

Danno said it looks
like a disaster area.

( mysterious theme playing)

WOMAN (echoing
): Is that you, darling?

(indistinct radio chatter)

The way he cleans up his trail,
he must be a pretty smart guy.

Yeah, except for the bodies
he leaves laying around.

Yeah.

McGARRETT (over radio
): McGarrett to Williams.

McGarrett to Williams. Williams.

Danno, on those prints Che
picked up in Spear's office,

one set matches some
of the prints we found

aboard Victor Martin's boat.

Could be we're looking
for the same guy.

Okay, we're on our way.

Maybe he's not as neat
as we thought he was.

Or maybe he just doesn't
care about leaving his prints

all over the place.

Or maybe he has
no previous arrests.

Maybe no
military-service record.

Well, that doesn't
do much for us.

Tells us more about him
than we knew ten minutes ago.

Mike? Yeah?

Where you been, man?

I've been calling
all over for you.

What's up?

A couple of haole chicks
checked into the hotel this morning.

You should see them, bruddah.

Gorgeous.

We're picking them up at 5.

What do you say?

About what?

The chicks, man.

The foxes.

No, not tonight.

Oh, come on, man. Knock it off.

What?

Mike.

This is Charlie, right?

I live here too, remember?

You know what I mean.
That old toss ship you're on.

I'm tired, that's all. Bull.

You've been acting like a zombie

ever since that haole broad
took off to the mainland

and left you standing
in the prop wash,

waving goodbye
like a sick bull calf.

You don't think she'll come
back here and marry you, do you?

I know she will.

What makes you think

she's any different
from the rest?

Come over here,
find a nice native boy,

play a fast game of
beach-blanket bingo.

Then, aloha.

Mahalo.

Gone, man.

Hey, look. Don't push it, huh?

Six months ago, you were the one

that was running
up the chicks for us.

You had to beat them
off with a surfboard.

Now...

You know what I think?

You've forgotten how
much of you is Kanaka

and how much is haole.

Take a look in the mirror,

and check the color.

You may be half and half,

but face it, bruddah,

there's only one
side that'll have you.

(door shuts)

( ominous theme playing)

(woman and child laughing)

( upbeat theme playing)

(both laughing)

No.

No, no.

No.

(both laughing)

McGARRETT: We
have five compartments.

Each of them illustrating
something in the suspect's past,

something which he told
Dr. Spear, we assume,

during the visits,

and something which Dr. Spear
later translated to canvas.

Now, our major problem
is trying to comprehend

Dr. Spear's symbolism.

How far out is it? How
much on the nose?

Danno, what do you
see in number one here?

Uhh...

Loneliness.

Rejection.

Yeah, could be.

Let's put that down.

Loneliness.

Loneliness.

Rejection.

Chin?

I'd, um, add fear, maybe.

All right.

We'll try fear.

Now, let's take a
look at number two.

Rather tranquil setting.

Looks like a young man
and a woman holding hands,

watching the sunset.

But what about the storm clouds?

Trouble on the horizon.

Stormy marriage, maybe?

Could be.

Could be. That's a
possibility. Let's put that down.

(door opens)

Steve? Yeah?

Washington Print
Bank just replied.

No prior criminal
or military record

on the suspect's prints.

Dead end. How you
doing on the painting?

Pretty good. Sit down.

Let's see what kind
of a shrink you'd make.

That's a dead
fish, a lover's heart

and two sets of initials.

C.H. and M.A.

It could be a broken
marriage or love affair

that ties into the boy and
girl on the mountaintop.

Why a hunter? Why
not a fisherman?

Maybe symbolic
of a lover's triangle.

An irate husband or
boyfriend who feels betrayed.

Could be.

But it's the initials,

C.H. and M.A., that intrigue me.

One of them could be our man.

C.H.

M.A.

Let's take a look
at number four.

That's Mauna Lani High School,

class of '67.

It looks like the same girl
that's in compartment 2.

DANNO: But what could the
puppets on strings represent?

I don't know, but
we can find out.

Frank, you take that one.

Check the class of '67,
Mauna Lani High School.

I want the names of anyone

whose initials are C.H. or M.A.

First thing in the morning.

Number five's not completed.

Right now, it
doesn't tell us a thing.

Strange. Every compartment

where our suspect is

looks like he's in
some kind of shadow.

Now, Dr. Spear had to
mean something by that.

Well,

do we know anything more
now than we did before,

or are we just
kidding ourselves?

Miss Glynis Martin? Yes.

Dan Williams, Hawaii Five-0.

How do you do? How do you do?

I'm very sorry
about your father.

Thank you.

Few questions we'd like to ask.

Sure.

Come this way, please.

( menacing theme playing)

( soft theme playing)

I've no idea at
all, Mr. Williams.

My father was very well-liked.

Why anyone would want
to take his life is, uh...

I guess I just don't understand.

And you never heard the
name Dr. Arthur Spear?

No.

If there were
anything that I knew

that would help you
catch this person,

you would certainly
be the first to know.

Well, I'm sure of
that, Miss Martin.

How long will you be
staying in the islands?

I don't know.

A couple of days, I guess.

Until I can claim...

Until I... I can make the
necessary arrangements

to take my father home.

Where will you be staying?

The Ilikai Hotel.

I'll drop you off there,

and we'll keep in touch.

Thank you.

Where's Steve?

H.P.D., meeting with the
chief. What do you got?

Pay dirt, maybe. The only
member of the graduating class

with the initials C.H.
is a Connie Honaka.

Nobody with the initials M.A.

You got an address on
her? Not yet, but I will.

(knocking on door)

Mike.

Hello.

Come on in.

How did you know I was here?

The news.

After I heard what happened,
I tried to call you in L.A.

But there wasn't any answer.

It's so good to see you.

Same here.

These last six
months have been...

I don't know what to say.

I mean, about what
happened to you.

Well, there's nothing,
really, anyone can say.

Do the police have
any idea why he was...?

No.

Not... Not yet, anyway.

Oh, it's so senseless.

If you'd only known him,
you'd understand what I mean.

He was the kindest, most gentle,

sensitive human
being I've ever known.

He never hurt another
person in his life.

So why would someone
want to do something like this?

Look, if there's
anything I can do,

just name it.

I'd forgotten what a
good friend you are.

(sobbing)

( melancholic theme playing)

Chou died of pulmonary edema,

failure of the left ventricle
due to hypertension,

coronary artery insufficiency,
myocarditis or pericarditis,

none of which he
had any history of.

What are you getting at, Doc?

Because he had no
history of any of those,

I wasn't satisfied.

So I started looking around
for some other reason.

His alcohol level
was almost nil,

and there were no
barbiturates present.

So I ran some biochemical tests.

One of them was for an
acetylcholinesterase level

in the brain.

It was way below normal.

Chou was poisoned.

VHP, verathion phosphate.

It's an organic compound
similar to nerve gas.

Isn't that the same stuff
they use in pesticides?

Hmm. Potent stuff.

Works anywhere from
15 minutes to 24 hours.

Leaves no visible means
of detection or odor.

How was it administered?

I don't know.

There were no needle
punctures, and it wasn't ingested.

Had to be by absorption.

Does Che have his clothing?

I've already called him.
The lab's checking it out now.

Okay, Doc. Thanks.

( mysterious theme playing)

Yeah? Frank Kemana, Five-0.

This is Sergeant Rutila.

We'd like to see
a Connie Honaka.

What do you want with her?

FRANK: Just wanna talk
to her. A few questions.

It's okay, Pop.
I'll talk to them.

Hmm.

What do you want?

Any place we can talk?

Well, not in there.
That's for sure.

Come out.

I'm looking for somebody
you went to high school with.

Who is it? I don't know.

But his initials are M.A.

I don't think I've ever known
anybody with those initials.

It's important.

Well, what did he do?

You have to tell me that first.
Otherwise, I don't say nothing.

He's a suspect in a murder case.

Oh, bull. Mike
would never... Mike?

I don't have to
tell you anything.

Hey, listen, if it
isn't him, it's okay.

But if it is,

he could very easily kill again.

Could you live with that?

You have to be...
You have to be wrong.

He's never hurt anyone before.

He was the one that was
always getting hurt first.

My father, he busted us up.

You wanna hear something funny?

He said Mike wasn't
good enough for me.

So now what have I got?

A baby that my hopped-up
old man left me with

when the cops busted him.

But to a Honaka,
the old royalty,

a chop suey, half-Hawaiian,

hapa haole just
wasn't good enough.

What kind of a guy was Mike?

Mike was a nice guy.

( soft theme
playing) A good guy.

He didn't have much of a family.

His mother died
when she had him,

and his father kicked
off in some cane field.

I don't know exactly
what happened.

We met when he moved
into the neighborhood.

They said that he could
stay with another family.

And then we started dating.

Until my father found out

and told him to
stay away from me

or he'd kill him.

Poor Mike.

Nobody ever really
wanted him, except me.

You still haven't
told me his last name.

Anapo.

Mike Anapo.

( tense theme playing)

You feel better?

Mm. Much.

I'd forgotten how
beautiful the islands are.

Maybe this time you'll stay.

Oh.

I wish I could.

Someday.

Come on.

Maybe I can convince you.

Where are we going? (laughs)

You'll see. (chuckles)

Oh, Mike, I-I shouldn't, really.

Come on.

Come on.

All right. (chuckles)

Come on.

(chuckles)

Come on. (chuckles)

CHE: Nothing on
Dr. Chou's tennis outfit.

But the towel around his neck

was covered with the same
chemical Doc told you about.

The towel, huh?

I can't think of a better way
to absorb something like that.

Work up a good sweat.
Pores are wide open.

Wrap the towel around
the area, and let it sink in.

It's ingenious.

And under those
conditions, fast acting.

We seem to be pretty
well-tied into tennis.

Those fibers embedded
in Dr. Spear's neck,

it's a steer gut. Take a look.

It's used to string
tennis rackets.

I don't suppose you could
tell me what kind of racket

these fibers come
from. Not a chance.

There's no way of telling for
sure they come from a racket.

It could have come right
off a roll in a repair shop.

Well, I better lay this
on Steve. Thanks, Che.

Verathion phosphate.
VHP, Doc called it.

It's an organic compound.
I know. I'm familiar with it.

And Doc is sure

that it was administered
to Chou by absorption?

He is.

And the other doctor, Spear,

he was strangled with
a piece of steer gut.

As Che said, we seem to
be tied to tennis in some way.

But how? Spear didn't
play tennis, did he?

No.

As far as we know,
neither did Victor Martin.

Least not here in the islands.

Spear and Chou, Danno.

Two doctors.

The key to this.

One, a psychiatrist,

one, a specialist in allergies.

Both offices ransacked. Why?

You know, all of
Dr. Spear's patients

were referrals
from other doctors.

Yeah.

Let's look at it this way.

(snapping fingers)

Our killer goes to Dr. Chou

and complains of an
allergy of some sort.

Chou realizes that
it's psychosomatic,

so he refers him to Dr. Spear.

Now, the killer
unloads to Dr. Spear,

and when Victor
Martin turns up dead,

Spear sees a connection

with something the
patient had told him.

So the patient had to kill
Dr. Spear to keep him quiet.

Yeah, and then goes after Chou

because he realizes
that, sooner or later,

we'd check all the
patients sent to Spear,

by Chou or anyone else.

No. No, I was wrong, Danno.

The key to this isn't
Spear and Chou.

It's Chou.

Chou and that tennis club

and someone there who
was able to administer

that lethal dose of
VHP to Dr. Chou.

And had easy
access to the steer gut

from the club's repair shop.

Right. Let's go.

( tense theme playing)

MAN: This is steer's gut.

Of course, we
use other types too.

And the re-stringing is done
right here on the premises?

In the back.

Check it out, Danno, will you?

(phone ringing) Excuse me.

MAN: Hello?

Mr. McGarrett, it's for you.

Oh. Thank you.

McGarrett.

Got a name, Steve.
McGARRETT: Go ahead.

Anapo. Mike Anapo.

FRANK: A-N-A-P-O.

( ominous theme playing)

Anapo.

Opana.

( ominous theme playing)

Thank you.

I don't know where Mike is.

I haven't seen him all day.

Would you mind telling
me what's coming down?

He's wanted on
suspicion of murder.

Who, Mike? Yeah.

(chuckles)

You gotta be putting me on, man.

You seen the
girl in this picture?

This one.

You mean Mike killed her?

No, but he might
have that in his mind.

Hey, man, you're way off.

First of all, she lives
on the mainland.

Second of all,

he's been hung up on
her for almost a year.

Well, she's back
on the island now.

Have you ever heard
of a Victor Martin?

Martin?

A guy that was killed.
The guy on a boat, right?

That's right.

The girl in those
pictures is his daughter.

Oh, wow, man.

Mike went off the
deep end for her.

Nothing happened.

I tried to tell him it was
just a vacation hustle.

You know how dames
are when they come here

from the mainland.

Just a little fun
for the scrapbook.

Mike wouldn't listen.

He figured this was for real.

He wanted the whole
love scene, marriage, kids.

He even built a house
for the both of them.

Where?

I don't know.

You don't know?

Mike never told me.

It was like a big
secret with Mike.

I really don't
know where it's at.

Just left Miss Martin's
hotel, Steve. She's gone.

The doorman saw her
drive off about a half hour ago

with a man answering the
description of Mike Opana.

Okay, Chin. We got it.

Danno, get a make
on Opana's car.

Get out an APB.

Better do it under both
names. Don't apprehend.

I just wanna know
where they are.

Right.

And get an address on
that house Opana built.

The land was probably purchased
under his legal name, Anapo.

You got it.

( soft theme playing)

It feels so good.

The sun, the fresh air.
I... I almost feel guilty.

Mike, I really ought to go back.

You got no reason to
feel guilty about anything.

Besides, you haven't
seen the surprise yet.

Yeah? (chuckles)

What kind of surprise?

Ah. You see. You see.

( ominous theme playing)

Williams to Central.
Williams to Central.

WOMAN (over radio): Central.

Patch me through
to McGarrett, fast.

(ringing) McGarrett.

Steve, I got an address for you.

McGARRETT: Let's have it.

2037 Inakoie Ridge Road.

Good work, Danno.
You head on up there.

I'll send some
blue-and-white backup units,

and I'll meet you there.

McGarrett to Central.
McGarrett to Central. Code red.

WOMAN: Go ahead, McGarrett.
All channels cleared for you.

Send support units

to 2037 Inakoie Ridge Road.

Repeat, 2037 Inakoie Ridge Road.

Report to Dan Williams on
the scene. Silent approach.

Repeat, silent approach.

What are we stopping here for?

You'll see.

Come on.

(chuckles)

Hurry.

My God.

Come on.

Wait till you see the view.

Like they say on the mainland,
you ain't seen nothing yet.

Look.

What do you think? (chuckles)

It's lovely.

Whose house is it?

Ours. ( ominous theme playing)

Ours?

Yours and mine.

I supervised every
piece of wood, nail.

Built most of it myself.

Just for us.

Mike.

Come on, you haven't
seen anything yet.

We've got a full kitchen,
two bedroom, nursery...

Mike, hold on a
second. And the...

I don't think I understand.

What's there to understand?

There's no reason for you

to go back to the
mainland anymore.

You know how I feel about you.

And I know how you
really feel about me.

Mike.

I like you. I really do.
I like you very much.

You belong here with me.

I mean, now with
your father gone,

there's nobody to
come between us.

My father had
nothing to do with this.

Listen, I know we had
a good time together.

I enjoy being with you.

I still do.

As a friend.

What's with the...
What's with the friend bit?

That's all there is, Mike.

I'm engaged to be married,

to someone I love very much.

Mike, you're hurting me.

Let go of me.

You would have come back,

if it hadn't been
for your father.

My father?

My father had nothing
to do with the way I felt.

You don't have to lie to me.
It was him. He broke us up!

And he won't be able to
do it this time! I saw to that!

Oh, my God.

Is he armed? We
don't know, Steve.

Then we assume he is.

You killed him.

You killed my father.

McGARRETT (
through horn): Opana.

McGarrett, Five-0.

You're surrounded.

We don't want
anyone to get hurt.

Come out with your hands up.

He killed him.

(yelling) He killed him!

He killed my father!

We go in, we can
try rushing him.

Chin, cover the back.

Frank, break out the gas guns.

Danno, get us some masks.

We'll lob in a few canisters,

see if we can take him alive.

Oh, please. Glynis,
please, I'm sorry.

I didn't mean... I did it
for us. Please, I'm sorry.

You're crazy! No.

Opana?

Can you hear me?

Come out with your hands up.

GLYNIS: Get away
from me! You killed him!

You killed my father!

You killed him. (
menacing theme playing)

You killed my father.

(screams)

No. Get away from me. Get away!

You killed my father!
Get away from me!

Fire.

No!

McGARRETT: Hold it.

Hands up.

Hands up. (coughing)

Get her out.

But don't try and
take me. I'll kill you.

(Mike coughs)

( dramatic theme playing)

Glynis okay?

Yeah, she's okay.

Book him, sergeant.
Murder one, three counts.

( dramatic theme playing)

( upbeat surf theme playing)
