Hawaii Five-O (1968–1980): Season 7, Episode 10 - A Gun for McGarrett - full transcript

A plaque, an award for his work in law enforcement, arrives in McGarrett's office and promptly explodes, killing one officer and injuring McGarrett. The perpetrator soon discovers McGarrett survived and begins planning his next attempt.

What's the matter?
Please, come this way.

LORD: This is Jack
Lord, inviting you

to be with us next for:

"A Gun for McGarrett."

(glass shatters)

(tires screeching)

I can't afford to be frightened.

That's why I called the police.

Would you be willing to help us

to testify if necessary,

even though there's
some danger involved?

Of course I'll help.

Let's go, Danno.

What time is it?

Almost midnight.

Can we do it again, Steve?

Good night, pretty girl.

I can assure you there
is only one reliable way

to kill McGarrett.

And that is to take him
completely by surprise.

(explosions)

LORD: Next, "Gun For McGarrett."

Be here. Aloha.

( upbeat surf theme playing)

( suspenseful theme playing)

McGARRETT: Come in.

I think you better get
Randolph up here, Leland.

Congratulations. For what?

The International Montaigne
Society Man-of-the-Year award.

Since you couldn't
attend the banquet,

they sent the plaque over.

I signed for it. I
hope you didn't mind.

No, I don't mind.

We don't even have to
subscribe to their magazine, huh?

No.

Put it over there,
will you, please?

Randolph might have some
explanation for what happened.

Use the phone there, please.

Yes, sir.

( dramatic theme playing)

(banging on door)

My God. (screams)

Call an ambulance.
Get the fire department.

Here at Iolani Palace,
a bomb has exploded

in the office of
Steve McGarrett,

the head of the Hawaii
State Police Agency.

McGarrett was in the office
at the time of the explosion.

So was officer Leland Opaha

of the Honolulu
Police Department.

That's Five-0 agent Dan Williams

accompanying a body

being brought out
from the blast scene.

Mr. Williams, what happened?
Can't talk now, Bob. Please.

How did the bomb get
in there? Later, please.

Is that McGarrett?

Clearly, there are a
number of questions

that we're not going to
get answers to at this time.

Perhaps if we can move
the camera straight in here,

we can take a look at
the bomb blast damage.

Sorry, no.

For now, it looks as though
that's all we're going to get

here at Iolani Palace.

We'll stay on the scene.
If there are further devel...

(TV clicks off)

Spare my blushes.

That's a mind blower.
He really killed McGarrett.

As you've just
seen on the telly,

your common enemy,
Steven McGarrett, is no more.

We can now get
on with the reason

that brought me to
Honolulu in the first place.

Yeah? Lets hear about that.

How you going to
make us all rich?

The method,
Mr. Tanaka, is expansion.

Tony, the exhibit,
if you'd be so kind.

Gentlemen, another drink. Ki?

Thank you.

These, of course, are your
present areas of operation.

But be good enough
to observe, gentlemen,

these areas where
none of you have,

shall we say, jurisdiction.

Yet there are shops here,

hotels, restaurants,
businesses and money.

Money for the taking.

All that's required
is enterprise,

imagination, new leadership.

Now, if you will trust me,

I can guarantee
that we will, in due...

"We"?

You dealing yourself in, pal?

Not in my game, you're not.

Mr. Meer, S.N.
Savage seeks no part

of any man's existing
claims in these islands.

May one humbly ask, my friend,

what do you propose
to do for yourself

in these matters?

Thirty-five percent
of all profits

derived from any new enterprises

I'm able to develop in
your various territories.

And one wouldn't call that
greedy, I shouldn't think.

It's worth talking about.

Bravo, Mr. Kim.
Let's talk about it.

Tony?

Pretty, wouldn't you say?

And so simple.

In the twinkling of an eye,

I've almost doubled
your territories

and your take-home pay.

Rather impressive, huh?

And that's just Oahu.

We can do the
same thing on Maui,

the big island of
Hawaii... (phone ringing)

Excuse me.

Yes, can I help you?

Oh.

One moment.

Mr. Meer, it's for you.

Yeah?

Right now?

Thanks.

Dude that works for me
says to turn on the TV.

That the man killed
in the explosion

here at Iolani Palace today

was Officer Leland Opaha

of the Honolulu Police
Department. Steve McGarrett,

who was in the office at
the time of the explosion,

has escaped serious injury.

He is being treated
for superficial burns.

It's also been learned
that the explosive devi...

(TV clicks off)

Fat mouth.

Put one foot in my territory,
and I'll cut your legs off.

That man is clearly no
respecter of the graphic arts.

(door shuts)

( suspenseful theme playing)

(door opens, shuts)

(car starts)

Mr. Sig Meer is a problem, Tony.

( dramatic theme playing)

Don't stay too long.

Steve?

Hi, Danno.

How's it going?

Oh, not too bad, thank God.

A few burns.

They took a chunk
of tin out of this arm.

I'll be okay. What have you got?

Probably what you've
already guessed.

There isn't any International
Montaigne Society.

What about that plaque?
Have you got a line on it?

We're working
on it. It's not easy.

There's nothing left but
a handful of splinters.

Somebody had to
make that plaque, Danno.

Then maybe send it to
another place to be hollowed out,

and probably to a third
person to be armed.

Somebody's given an awful lot
of thought to my murder, Danno.

Yeah. Probably
still thinking about it.

Yeah.

Question is, who?

It doesn't smell to me
like local talent, Steve.

Maybe not, but the
M.O. is still a bomb.

Now, you can wrap it in any
kind of fancy package you want,

and it still ends up a bomb.

Let's run a sweep on any
bombers we have in the computer.

Right.

( suspenseful theme playing)

A list of all bombing
M.O.s, Steve.

Bernstein, Kealoha,
Frank, Chang,

Taylor, Griffith, Matsuda,

Nodella, Lowen, Nipp, Meer.

Yeah. Fat Sig Meer
could be a possibility.

Isn't this a little
fancy for Sig?

His usual M.O. would be

to throw a ton of TNT
through your window.

Maybe he's associating

with a classier bunch of
cats these days, Danno.

Lets bring him in,
see what he knows.

Okay. Take care
of yourself, Steve.

Thanks.

Five-0. ( ominous theme playing)

What's the matter?
Please, come this way.

It happened about

Do sit down.

I'm so glad you could come.

Now, shall we
resume our business?

( ominous theme swells)

Anything new on
the Sig Meer hit?

No, the bullet is
still in ballistics.

I don't suppose you
could get anything useful

out of his people, huh?

The usual pattern, Steve.
When the boss is killed,

everybody else heads
for the high grass.

Nobody's willing to risk their
health by talking to the fuzz.

I say we just color it
routine gangland slaying,

type 6B.

Maybe, Danno. Maybe not.

Somehow, I can't
get over the feeling

that there is some connection
between that and this.

You mean a gut feeling?

No, a ringing in my ears
and something you said.

What's that?

You said it didn't look
like local talent, remember?

Yeah. So?

Offhand, can you
think of any local talent

with the guts to
take on Sig Meer?

No.

Well, neither can I.

It's not much to go
on, but I wanna push it.

If there's anybody new in
town, I wanna know who it is.

Okay, we'll push it.

Whoever he is, he sure
knew how to wreck an office.

Yeah.

Thank you, Ki.

Look, Savage, let me
lay it on you for all of us.

All your maps,
and all your colors,

and all your fancy
talk don't mean a thing

while McGarrett's
still on the bricks.

You got an okay out of us by
promising to waste McGarrett.

Buddy, nothing's happening.

Mr. Kim,

I'm sure you won't disagree
with me when I point out

that every commonplace
way to eradicate McGarrett

has been attempted
and none has succeeded.

Additionally, I'm informed

that McGarrett is
currently being guarded

by a force roughly
the equivalent

of a brigade of the
Equestrian Guards.

That's because you
blew your first one, baby.

Maybe that slob
Sig Meer was right.

Under the circumstances, I
doubt if he'd agree with you.

Mr. Kim, I have been
looking into the matter

and I can assure you

there is only one reliable
way to kill McGarrett,

and that is to take him
completely by surprise.

To do that, we must
put him off his guard.

The moment he believes
himself secure from attack,

the moment he allows
himself a second's relaxation,

that is the moment
I'm planning to achieve.

And when will that be?

At precisely the
proper point in time.

No sooner, no later.

Meanwhile, we'll get our
little joint venture under way.

( vehicle approaching,
tires screeching)

It was a travel agency
in Waikiki, Steve.

Luckily, the
premises were vacant

at the time of the explosion.

There were no casualties.

There will be next time.

They won't need a next time.

That was a formal
announcement, gentlemen.

Somebody saying,
"Okay, you fat cats

"who run the Waikiki hotels,
nightclubs, and restaurants.

Now its your turn. Pay
up or get blown up."

And they'll pay up.

And shut up.

Unless we can find
ourselves a hero

who's willing to
risk his hotel lobby

to tell us who's trying
to move into Waikiki.

Yeah. Yeah. Let's
find us that hero.

Let's find one.

Talk to every hotel manager,
every restaurant owner,

every shopkeeper along the
beach. Find me one person.

Just one person
with enough guts,

with enough moral courage

to stand up to these
slimy shakedown artists.

( intrepid theme playing)

(speaking inaudibly)

(speaking inaudibly)

Yes? Let me have the name
and address again, please.

Marni Howard,
Kapiolani Galleries. Yes?

Four-two-seven. Got it.

Thank you.

DANNO: Struck out,
Steve. Not a single hero

from the yacht harbor
to the aquarium.

What would you say to a heroine?

Huh? Chin, lets go.

Anybody home?

WOMAN: May I help you?

Miss Howard? Is it miss?

It's both. Howard and miss.

McGarrett, Hawaii Five-0.

My associate, Danny Williams.

How do you do?

Pleased to meet you.

Uh, you're here

because of my telephone
call this morning.

I must say, you're very prompt.

You reported an
extortion attempt.

That's very important to us.

Now, what can you tell us?

What would you like to know?

Did this person
identify himself?

No.

Did he indicate he was
working for someone else?

I know what you're thinking.
Was he a crank caller?

No, I don't think he was.

He kept saying things like,
"they want you to do this,"

"they told me to
tell you," et cetera.

What did they
tell him to tell you?

To have the money ready
by tomorrow afternoon.

How much money?

Twenty-five hundred dollars.

That was to be
the first payment.

Meaning many more
payments, including larger ones.

I took it to mean that.

And when the money
was ready, then what?

I was to wait for
further instructions.

Miss Howard, were any threats

made against your
person or your property?

Yes, against both.

If I failed to comply
with the instructions,

he said my shop
would be damaged.

And if I continued to
refuse, I would be damaged.

The implication was the
damage would be severe.

Can I tell you anything else?

Yeah.

Weren't you frightened?

Mr. McGarrett, I bought
my shop from a Mr. Kalahai

hardly three months ago.

I've put all my savings into it.
I can't afford to be frightened.

That's why I called the police.

I wish some of our local
merchants could meet you.

Miss Howard,

would you be willing to help us,

to testify if necessary,

even though there's
some danger involved?

Again, it's a question
of economics.

Of course I'll help.

What would you like me to do?

When you hear from
him, call me immediately.

I admire you.

Thank you.

Let's go, Danno.

Got something for me, Yosh?

Could be. I hear you've been
asking around about Sig Meer.

That's what I've been hearing.

So?

So he went to a meeting,
a big meeting last week.

Maybe two, maybe three.

Who did he meet?

There were four of them
besides him. There was...

Tanaka.

Kim the Korean, Lin Choy, and...

And? And somebody else.

Who else?

I couldn't get his name.
He's not from here.

He's not local. He's a stranger.

And he brought an arm with him.

FRANK: You mean, he's
not from these islands?

No, he's some kind of
European with muscle.

That's what I hear
around the street.

Well, thanks. Buy
yourself some peanuts.

Oh, fine. Thank you.

How did you make out, Danno?

I ran a routine on her
as you asked, Steve.

She's who she says she
is. Checks out completely.

Strictly legit.
Bought the business

about three months ago.

Good. Let's hope she
hangs in there, huh?

Steve, I just met with my man.

The pipeline has it there was a
meeting three times last week.

Sig Meer, Lin Choy,
Tanaka, and Kim the Korean.

Who did they meet with?

A stranger.
European with muscle.

(sighs)

That makes it a
tough one, Frank.

Thousands of visitors to
these islands are European.

We sure can't question them all

just because one of your
sources said he had a meeting

three times last week.

Along with four of
our biggest cats?

Well, it's just possible
the new cat is in town,

trying to move in
and to take over.

He could be European.

Let's see if we can
find out who he is.

Contact Interpol. Okay.

(buzzing)

Yes, Jenny?

Put her on.

Miss Howard?

They contacted you? When?

Did he identify himself?

What did he tell you to do?

I see.

3:00 tomorrow.

Very well.

Now, Miss Howard, I want
you to listen to me very carefully

and do exactly as I say.

Yes.

Yes.

I understand.

( ominous theme playing)

(screams)

Kemana for Garrett.
Kemana for Garrett.

McGARRETT (on radio): McGarrett.

Miss Howard's been
taken to Queen's Hospital.

She was beaten
up in her gallery.

Assailant unknown.

Okay. We'll head
for the hospital.

And then he started
smashing and breaking things.

And I tried to run,
and he-he followed me.

And I thought he was...
Was going to kill me.

Was it the same man who
approached you before?

Yes. I don't understand.

I told them I was
willing to pay.

He must have overheard
your phone call to Five-0.

I guess I'm not very good
at trapping criminals, am I?

You did fine, Miss Howard. Fine.

If there's anyone
to blame, it's me.

There's a call for
you, Mr. McGarrett.

I had it transferred
in here. Thank you.

McGarrett.

Who's this?

Mr. McGarrett, this
is just a small example

of what happens when a client
of ours goes to the authorities.

Keep it in mind.

( ominous theme swells)

( suspenseful theme playing)

I'd like to station some
men here, Miss Howard.

You're still taking all the
blame for what happened,

aren't you? I don't
have any choice.

But I don't blame you.

Well, thank you.
That helps some.

At least you look like you
came through it all right.

I got off a lot
better than you did.

Well, having bombs thrown
at you when you're a cop

comes with the territory,

but not when you're
running an art gallery.

Miss Howard, do you mind if
we station some people here?

Could you call me Marni?

Very well.

Do you mind if I
assign someone here?

If I don't open up
the art gallery again,

then they have no reason
to demand protection money

from me, do they?

Then you intend to
keep the gallery closed?

I intend to stay
very close to home

and not to open my
door to any strangers.

Good. Good.

But promise me one
thing, Miss Howard, please.

If you'll call me Marni.

All right. If...

If you feel that you've
been threatened in any way,

if you even get that impression,
please telephone me immediately.

You mean, anytime?

( soft theme playing)

Day or night?

Anytime, day or night.

Even around 7:30 in the evening?

When I feel threatened, it's
usually around dinnertime.

I can't think why.

Perhaps it's because

dining alone usually carries
with it the threat of spending

the rest of the evening alone.

That's an interesting condition.

Just... Just around
dinnertime, huh?

Yes.

Especially on Mondays.

All right.

In that case, suppose I call
for you on Monday about 7:00,

just so you won't
feel threatened?

That could be comforting.

Is it Steve?

Yes, it's Steve.

Stephen Aloysius,
but don't tell a soul.

(chuckles)

FRANK: The name,
Yosh. What's the name?

My friend said
there's a "singer" in it.

"Winsinger" or "Lumsinger"

or some kind of name like that.

Does your friend
know who this man is?

He's from the
mainland. Uh, he's...

He's important.

Important? In what way?

He's a hit man,
a... A killer for hire.

Very expensive
and very accurate.

Does your friend know
who hired this gun?

No.

Well, can he tell
me where he is now

or can anyone
point him out to me?

I could, perhaps,
purchase that information.

Well, do it.

The seller would like to know

what I intend to use
to make my purchase.

Bensinger. Hugh Bensinger.

He's suspected,
but it can't be proved,

to being the major hit man

in 18 gangland killings
over the last seven years.

Eighteen?

Is he syndicate?

No. He's the last of the
independent operators.

The bureau thinks
he's responsible

for the death of Meyer Stronsky.

He was paid 50 big ones
for it by Whitey Doyle.

Sounds like somebody
hired a gun for you.

Yeah.

And your man is
gonna finger him?

He says so.

All right. Get
on it fast, Frank.

Find him, tail him, and
don't let him out of your sight.

Gotcha.

( ominous theme playing)

(door shuts)

( island theme playing)

MARNI: It seemed a good idea
to get out of the country for a while,

only we never went back.

My father died in
Indonesia six years ago.

And my mother's married

to a sheep rancher
in New Zealand.

Thank you. And when did
you come to the islands?

About a year and a half ago.

Are you going to ask
me to sign that statement?

Have I been interrogating
you? I'm sorry.

I guess it's habit.

I guess you're right.
A cop is a cop is a cop.

You gonna have a drink, or
are you just gonna sit there?

I'm just going to sit
here. Relax, bruddah.

I'll bet you you're...
A Capricorn.

Now, how did you know that?

Well, you seem
so well-organized,

a man of strict habits.

Which habits are
you talking about,

the good ones or the bad ones?

Oh, I'm sure Mr. Steve McGarrett
doesn't have any bad habits.

I don't know who you've
been talking to about me,

but I'd sure like to thank him.

But you're a very
famous man in Honolulu.

Everybody knows about you.

I know some who
wish they didn't.

But you do lead
a very regular life.

You probably get up around 7:00,

and I bet you jog

three times around
the block by 7:30.

If you're asking
about my schedule,

I get up at 5:00.

I usually jog in the
park three times a week.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

See? Regular habits.

Now, wait a minute, you said
strict habits, not regular ones

and I said I usually jog.

Big difference.

Well, when don't you go?

The day I usually get a haircut.

And when's that?

You going to ask me to sign
this statement, Miss Howard?

(giggles)

I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to...

MARNI: Thank you very much.

That was a really
lovely restaurant.

McGARRETT: I'm glad you
liked it. It's one of my favorites.

You know, you're not the
way I thought you'd be at all.

What way was that? Well,

the way everyone describes you.

I didn't know
everyone described me.

(chuckles)

Would you care for
a drink? No, thanks.

Oh, yes. McGarrett the loner.

McGarrett, the man
who is made of iron or ice.

McGarrett, the man

who never eats, sleeps,
or lives anywhere.

Sounds like some kind of robot.

Yes, exactly.

A robot who lives and
breathes police work,

who doesn't do anything else.

Doesn't relax,
doesn't play, doesn't...

Doesn't what? (giggles)

Nothing.

Who's that?

Oh, Chin. Everything all right?

Everything's cool, Steve.

Thank you. Sorry.

They seem to follow
you everywhere.

Doesn't it bother you?

Only at times like this.

I'm afraid privacy's going
to be a little hard to come by

until we nail whoever's
been trying to kill me.

I'm also afraid that we
have to call it a night.

Thank you for a very
pleasant evening.

What time is it?
Almost midnight.

Will you turn into a pumpkin?

No, just a sleepy cop.

( soft theme playing)
Can we do it again, Steve?

Anytime.

You mean, me and my shadow?

Yes, you and your shadow.

Good night, pretty girl.

Good night.

(door opens)

That's him.

( ominous theme playing)

All right. You
better take off, Yosh.

(camera clicks)

( suspenseful theme playing)

The one on the
right is Bensinger.

The other dude must be
our mysterious European.

Okay. Put it on the
photofax. Get it off to Interpol.

Tell them we want
identification. Top priority.

Right away.

McGARRETT: This
a picture of you?

Well, its not a very
good one, is it?

Look here, who are you anyway?

McGarrett, Hawaii Five-0.

Is this one any better?

Now, who in the world is that?

That is a picture
of one S.N. Savage,

kingpin of all of
London's gambling,

prostitution, and dope.

It's also a picture of you.

How awfully flattering,
but I'm afraid it's not.

You must have the wrong house.

You see, my name is Dempster.
I'm a real-estate developer.

I'm here on vacation
in your beautiful state.

You are one of the
top-10 crime figures

on Interpol's wanted list.

You're here in Honolulu
for the purpose of taking over

the organized
rackets in this state,

and I've got you
to thank for this.

There really must
be some mistake.

What did you say your
name was again? McGarrett?

Are you, by any chance, with
the chamber of commerce?

State police, Mr. Savage.

Dempster.

Savage, when I put
this case together,

I'm going to nail
you for murder,

for attempted murder,
and for extortion.

Now, you may have
come here to kill me,

but you're going to end up in
Oahu State Prison for good.

That's a promise.

Just so I'll recognize you
in case I see you again.

Fair warning, Mr. Savage.

Dempster.

(door opens, shuts)

You can come out now.

( soft theme playing)

Forceful sort of chap,
your McGarrett, isn't he?

And very smart too. I told you.

I think it's time
to finish this off

once and for all.

Right.

( ominous theme swells)

(car horn honking)

McGARRETT: Well, there she goes.

You sure were right
about her, Steve.

(clicks tongue)

She asked too many questions.

What's so interesting
about when and where I jog

or get a haircut?

Better put a tag on her, Danno.

Central, McGarrett.

Patch me through
to Frank Kemana.

McGARRETT: From what
we've found out about Savage,

it's his style all the way.

A two-part operation.
Get me off guard,

then move in with
the heavy artillery

when I'm not expecting it.

And now he's starting over.

Wrecking Miss Howard's
gallery was just part one.

Yeah, and Hugh
Bensinger is part two.

I bet the three of them
are plotting right now

when and where to hit me.

Steve, it's just a theory,
not enough to move on.

How can we develop it
so we can collar them?

Danno, once he gets
a bead on my head

from some second-story
window, it no longer is theory.

Let's get on it.

They're changing
their watch now.

( suspenseful theme playing)

Central, patch me
through to McGarrett.

McGARRETT (over
radio): McGarrett.

Steve, she's just leaving H.P.D.

She picked up a
permit to carry a gun.

Okay, Frank, stay with her.

Let me know when
she hits a gun shop.

Right.

Buying a gun.

(radio buzzing)

FRANK: Steve? Yeah, Frank.

She went into the gun
shop on Bethel Street.

The one on the makai
side? FRANK: Right.

Got it.

For protection, right?

Yes.

We live in a very
unhappy world, dear lady.

Why don't you fill this out?

(phone rings)

Excuse me one moment,
please. Of course.

Hello. Gun Shop.

This is Steve McGarrett
of Hawaii Five-0.

You have a customer
in there right now

who wants to buy a gun.

Yes, a Miss Marni Howard.

Now, I want you to
listen to me very carefully

and follow my instructions.

( suspenseful theme playing)

This is where he
jogs, Bensinger.

Three times a week. Early.

What days, my love?

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

BENSINGER: Should be no problem.

I'll find a cozy spot

where I can get
a good clean shot.

A bit of action at last.

It's bound to please my somewhat
motley assortment of associates.

Well, shall we say Wednesday?

Wednesday it is.

Tony.

Kapiolani Park rose
garden. Right where you jog.

Sure looks like
they're setting you up.

Yeah.

Stay on them,
Chin. You too, Frank.

He's wondering what's
keeping you, Steve.

He keeps looking at his watch.

Somebody gave him
a bum steer, Chin.

I don't jog on Wednesday.

So much for their intelligence.

(tapping on desk) I wonder.

Maybe he's supposed to
have the wrong day, huh?

Let's wait and see.

( suspenseful theme playing)

(gunshot) (grunts)

It's not getting
any clearer, Steve.

Why would they knock
off their own hit man?

(tapping on desk)

I could be wrong, gentlemen.

I said Miss Howard was step one

and Bensinger step two.

It could be just the
other way around.

You mean he was a decoy,
and she's the heavy artillery?

Yeah. If the man who's
supposed to hit me

gets wasted before
the job is done,

I-I could feel very secure
for a while, wouldn't you say?

Secure enough to go
out without a bodyguard.

Now, it's possible
that the whole thing

had been planned that way.

(phone ringing)

McGarrett.

Yes, Marni?

Steve?

Did you put someone
at my house after all?

Because there's a man out there.

I saw him just a minute ago.

No, Marni, no one
from this office is there.

Very well.

I'll be out.

Okay.

She's the heavy artillery.

( suspenseful theme playing)

Too bad.

Let's go.

( ominous theme playing)

Marni?

Marni?

Marni?

Marni?

What are you made of?

Nothing special about me.

It's these custom blanks

your gun was loaded with.

Blanks? That's right.

I telephoned the store owner
while you were buying this gun.

Oh, Marni, I was really
hoping I was wrong.

Well, what are you going to do?

That depends on you.

You're in a lot
of trouble, honey.

I could hold you for
the attempted murder

of a police official,

and I can show probable cause

that you were an
accessory to the murders

of Hugh Bensinger and Sig Meer.

You could go to prison
until you're a very old lady,

unless you decide to cooperate.

Cooperate?

How?

By doing whatever it was

Savage told you to
do after you'd killed me.

(ringing)

Hello?

I did it.

SAVAGE (on phone): Is he dead?

Yes, he is.

How absolutely marvelous.

Now remember
what to do, dear girl.

Ring through to the police

and tell them you have
just killed McGarrett

because you thought
he was a prowler

who was going to do you harm.

That's a good girl.

There, you see?

The population of these
islands has just been reduced

by the 900 lives
of Steve McGarrett.

Book her.

(engine starts) Central,
this is McGarrett.

Patch me through
to Chin Ho Kelly.

Chin, are they still there?

Still there, Steve.
McGARRETT: All of them?

CHIN: Right.

Okay. We're only
a few minutes away.

When we pass, fall
in behind with H.P.D.

Gentlemen, a toast.

To our future enterprises.

You're okay, Savage.

We're all going to be okay.

( exciting theme playing)

MAN: Hold it.

MAN: Hold it.

Let's get out... Back up.

Get back in the room.
Get back in the room.

Put your hands up high.

My apologies, gentlemen.

McGARRETT: Still think
we got the wrong house?

Here's a warrant.

Tell me, McGarrett,

are your other 899 lives

as indestructible as this one?

You'd better believe
it. Book him, Danno.

Murder one, two counts,

and all the rest are his
accessories for openers.

Let's go.

( triumphant theme playing)
