Haven (2010–2015): Season 5, Episode 17 - Enter Sandman - full transcript

Dwight and Charlotte work on a way to free Audrey from the Sandman's stasis before he can trap her in his mind forever. Duke tries to help Darkside Seeker Seth Byrne recover his memories of Haven.

(Nathan): Previously on Haven...

- You can't find a town
with 25,000 people?

(man): Haven, Maine, like your money,
doesn't exist.

- This ring, it's part of a set.
Every member in our family has one.

- You're stuck here
with no ticket home.

- I'm trying to fix things.

- Try to fix the Troubles.

- Thanks to our friend there,
we're keeping them in a prison of sorts.

- The people I touch
enter a slumber.

And they cannot hurt anyone.
- What kind of sleep are they experiencing?

- Dreamless sleep.
- Did they force you to do this?

If you change your mind,
just come and find me.

- Thank you.

- You need to let Grayson go.
- ls that true?

- He can't hear you,
he is hearing impaired.

Grayson?
The Sandman.

- I hate that name.

(The Chordettes' Mr. Sandman playing)

(Audrey): I know, right?
That is a lot of prawns.

But my family loves them.

Oh, somebody's beeping in
on the other line.

Katarina?

Hi, thank you for getting
back to rne so quickly.

Would I be the worst Bridezilla ever

if I asked to put a gardenia
in my bouquet?

(chuckles)

Okay, you are so sweet.

(chuckles)

I know, I'm going to try
it on right now.

It's my last chance
before the real thing.

Mm.

Listen, I have one more call
that I need to make

before I have to take a long,
hot bath, so bye.

# Mr. Sandman
bring me a dream... #

Hi.

Hi, I just...
I wanted to tell you that I...

I can't wait to be your wife.

- Audrey?

Parker!

Parker.
Parker.

Audrey?

Come on.

Hands up.
Who are you?

What happened here?

Wake up!

Tell me what you did
to Audrey Parker.

Tell me what you did to Audrey!

- I'm so sorry.

She's gone.

(somber folk music)

- Hello, friends.
This is Darkside Seeker Seth Byrne,

bringing you the truth from this...

uh, parking lot,
where strange things happen.

What are you doing?
Don't do that. I paid you 20 bucks.

- What are you talking, strange things?
Not on my watch.

- Okay, great.

You say that a woman
passed right through a shipping container.

- I don't know what I saw.

But it happened here.

(knocking)

- Pure steel.

Witnesses claim
our mystery woman

phased right through it.

But who could have
the power to do that?

And is she even human?

What do you think?

- You have ten minutes
to get off the property, Curly.

- Seekers, we are surrounded
on all sides by skeptics.

But we will look inside
because we may find clues.

(groans)

Or just a really
well-dressed homeless guy.

Great.
- Seth?

- Yeah?

What?
(Duke scoffing)

- I'm not even surprised.

- Okay.
I'm sorry, do I know you?

- Good. Yeah.
Actually, that's good.

That's... that's exactly how I feel.

In fact, unless somebody
is holding a pocket knife at twins,

you are not gonna tell
Audrey or Nathan where I am.

You understand?
Okay?

- Okay.
I don't know who that is.

- Come on.
Audrey.

Parker.

Wacky town.
- No.

- Yes!

We... we... we...
we... we fought,

like, a big, giant, hairy monster together.
It was ripping people's hearts out.

- Yeah, see, I do know what a Rougarou is.
- Okay!

- If I'd seen one,
I'm pretty sure I'd remember.

However, I have no trouble
remembering that you just

threatened to separate
me from my testicles.

So I think I'm gonna say... bye.

- Wait.
Hey, hey, hey.

Hang on.
Wait.

- What?

- You're the second person I've come across
who has no memory of Haven.

- Okay, you gotta stop following me.

So how about I go this way,

and you don't?

(Nathan):
Why did you bring rne here?

I need to talk to Sandman.

- Nathan, please,
just look around.

Now, all these people are in Sandman's stasis
and they're okay.

Audrey will be too.

- That's not good enough.

I need to hear it from him.
- He's with Dwight.

- Sandman is supposed to be
working for The Guard.

So why would he put Audrey out?
She's not a criminal.

- Neither is her friend, Grayson.

Which is why I think this whole thing
is just an innocent mistake.

- He didn't seem like a guy
who makes mistakes.

- Dwight will talk to Sandman
and he'll work this out.

- So tell me what happened.

Grayson, he's... he's deaf,

so did you touch him
to get his attention?

- No.

- Did Audrey get in the middle
of an argument between you and Grayson?

Come on, man.
I-I need some kind of explanation.

You can't just roam around
accidentally putting people in stasis.

(whispering): You're so sure
this was an accident.

- What was that?

Okay.

How about you wake up Audrey now
and then we'll figure this all out?

- No.

I'm keeping her.

Audrey?

- This is wrong.

No, you shouldn't...
You shouldn't be here.

But I am so glad you are.

(Audrey chuckling)

(both laughing)

Henry.

- I couldn't wait any longer.

How are you?
- Mortified.

How dare you sneak up on me
a few hours before the wedding?

It's bad luck. Now I'm going to have
to call the whole thing off.

But that's all you get
until the honeymoon.

- Deal.

But after the wedding,

you are mine forever.

- Oh, my... God!

- Haven, Maine.
Just think about it.

- Okay.
So, you're stalking me now.

- I'm not stalking you.
- No, it's okay.

I understand, I mean...
I'm a founding Darkside Seeker.

The occults can be very alluring.

- Help me with this
and you'll never see me again.

- All right, okay.
Help you with what?

- You don't remember Haven?

I need to know if that's permanent or not.
- Why?

The last time we spoke,
you, uh, you made it sound

like you never wanted to go back there.
- Because it's strange.

- Yeah, not really.
You see, there is no Haven.

It doesn't exist.

I Googled it.

- Ah-ha!
Which makes it really strange.

And potentially dangerous.
- Yeah.

- And you will have
the exclusive inside scoop.

So what do you say?
Are you in?

- These aren't gonna change anything.
- They already have.

Hostage takers
don't work for The Guard.

- What's my name?

My real name.

You can't fire me
if you don't know at least that.

- You told me to call you Sandman.
- No.

Your people told you
to call me Sandman.

When I came to them for help,

and you all decided
to use me instead.

- What, so this is revenge?

- No.
This is fair.

Nobody has cared about me
since I got here.

Except Audrey Parker.

So I wanted her.

And she's about to be all mine.

- You're sick.

- You people have called rne way worse.

- How long do you think you can keep her?
- Forever.

Once she commits to me,

which shouldn't be long now.

- Dwight thinks that Sandman's
obsessed with Audrey.

- Yeah.

Well, so am I.

I'm gonna stay right here.

And I'm gonna keep talking to you.

About our awesome life here.

Bit of a disaster movie,
except it's real.

But it's okay.

It's you and me.

We're the heroes.

- Greetings, Seekers.

Welcome to Haven, Maine.

As always, I'm Seth Byrne

and we are the Darkside Seekers.

Okay, what is this?

You said I had footage of being in Haven
and all I see is snow, dude.

There's no footage.

- What are you talking about?
I'm looking right at it.

That's you, investigating a Rougarou,
about to scream your head off.

(sighs)

You can't see it because you don't
have any memories of Haven.

- All right.

So I've got invisible notes
in my case log,

I-I can't find the place
on a freaking map,

and apparently, I can't even
remember the stupid mermen.

- I didn't say anything about mermen.
- Oh, didn't you?

Then how do I know
that I don't know anything

about mermen who can only
breathe underwater during the Troubles?

What the hell are the Troubles?

- Seriously? A wedding?
Why?

- Audrey will marry me.

The ceremony is about to happen.

Once she says "I do,"
her choice is made

to accept me fully.

And after that, I'll have her mine
for the rest of my life.

- Why are you telling me all this?
- Because you can't do anything about it.

And I enjoy that.

- What if I forced my way
into your little fantasy world

and tore it all down?

- Nobody gets into my world
unless I want them to.

You're not invited.

- What if I grabbed you by the throat...

and squeezed until this is all over?
- They're in my mind, Dwight.

What do you think
will happen to them if I die?

I wiped their minds
of the clutter and the anxiety.

And I put them somewhere beautiful.

- So once they're in your world,
you don't control them.

- I can have complete control
if I want to.

All I have to do is...

You need to take attendance
in the sleep room.

- You killed someone
because you felt like it?

- Because you made me.

- You may think
what you have is a power.

- But what it is is a Trouble.

There's always a downside.
And I'm gonna find it.

I'm gonna use it against you
and get Audrey and the others back.

- If you or someone else comes at me

in a way that I do not like,
I'll rip them apart.

Starting with Audrey Parker.

You're gonna marry me,
Audrey Parker.

- I can't believe this day is already here.

It's... it's all happening so fast.

- Too fast?
- No.

If it were up to me,
we'd already be married.

(Audrey laughing)

- There's my best man.
(laughing)

About time, buddy.

- Oh, Grayson.

Oh! I'm so glad you could be with us
on this special day.

- Cat got your tongue, buddy?

- No.
Sorry, I think I'm just tired.

- So tell me.

How did you get this amazing band
for our reception?

I heard that they've opened for U2?

- You must be a man with connections
to get a band like that.

- I... don't know.

- Gear down,
no one wants to hear your demo.

Come here, let's settle up.

- So right over there...

(choking)

So glad you're here.

I can't thank you enough.
- Yeah, the band kicks ass.

And they can rock out a chicken dance.

If the groom is as lame
as I remember him.

- And you're still a jerk.
(laughter)

Let's hit the bar. I'll get you your regular.
Espresso martini.

- Not too many
espresso martinis.

I don't want you
bouncing around for our vows.

- All right, honey.
(Audrey laughing)

- Memories are just buried
somewhere inside your head.

We just need to shake them loose.
Okay, okay.

I dragged you out of this cheese puff-filled
van to help me save Nathan.

Nathan from the ghost world.

You gave rne one
of your little inventions.

Some kind of device
that detected aether. Remember?

- No, but whatever that is,
I'm gonna have to get that back

because typically, I don't lend equipment
and that's not a personal thing...

- Okay, forget the equipment.

Something keeps
drawing you back to Haven.

- I don't know.
- Something... specific.

- I don't know.
- To the one memory that you have.

The mermen.
Think.

- I can't think! For Venkman's sake,
I don't have anything that I can...

Wait a minute.
- What?

- Holy crap, l-|-l saw one.

- You saw one what?

- When I was a kid.

I saw one, a-a-a merman.

I saw one.
- Okay.

- That's incredible.

(monster sounds from computer)
(Seth screaming)

Mother of...
Okay.

That is terrifying.
You're right.

- But you can see it.
- Yeah.

- That means you remember.

- Uh, yeah.
Audrey.

And Nathan, the Troubles.

Me being awesome.
I don't know what it is.

Maybe it's you getting
in my face that jarred it loose.

We gotta go back there.
- Hang on, hang on.

Let rne...
Just let rne think.

- Think about what?
We gotta get back to Haven.

We gotta figure out what's wrong,
what's blocking it from...

- Shut up!

Look, Haven...

is a cancer
that I can't get out of me.

Trust me, you don't want it.

- What the hell have you been
forcing me to remember for?

- I don't know.

- You know what?
I think you do know.

I don't think you're done with Haven.
I don't. I think you want closure.

And I'll tell you something.

I do know exactly
what we need to do next.

And I think it might help you.

Interested?

- If she marries him,
she'll be trapped in his mind for good.

- You have to let me go in.

- Sandman's a maniac.
He'll strip you of everything you know.

- Not if he doesn't
see me coming.

If I surprise him
and push my way into his illusion,

he might not have time
to alter my memory.

- Not possible.
No one gets in unless he wants them.

- Then I'll make him want me.

Do you know who I am?

- You're the CDC doctor.

Who had no idea
what she was getting into

when she came into Haven.

- I wanted to see you for myself.
- You have a fetish for facial scars.

- I have a fetish for spending
the rest of my life in paradise.

- So you want my stasis?

- I'm stuck in this town.

Dodging Troubles
like my life depends on it.

Everything else is rations
and hoarding toilet paper.

- No, it's not very comfortable.

- You have an escape.

So why can't I?

I heard about your world
and I think that it sounds amazing.

- What makes you think
I'd give you paradise?

I could make you
wander through the desert.

Or throw you down a well.

- Because you haven't been
with anyone like me.

That's willing to be with you.

(sighs)
- I can't.

I love Audrey.

- There can be more than
one queen in a castle.

- I know the real reason
why you want me

to welcome you in my mind.

You want to take Audrey away from me.

I won't let you.

- As we both shall...
- Audrey?

Audrey, I'm so glad I found you.

It's important you listen to me.

You need to remember that...

(screams)

You are gonna be a stunning bride.

- And you are going to make
a gorgeous maid of honor.

But you're late and we don't have
much time before the ceremony.

Let's go.
- Come on.

(giggling)

- Thank you for helping me with these.

I was afraid I was gonna see Audrey.

Where is she?

- She's down at my car
getting a worn out scrunchie

from my glove compartment.

She insisted.
It's old, borrowed, and blue.

She'll wear it as a garter.

But I guess you're what's new.

It seems like you guys just met.

And this wedding is just...
it's happening so fast.

- I've been waiting for her all my life.

And I'm not gonna let her
get away from me.

- You guys are a great couple.

- Can I show you something?
- Mm-hmm.

Henry, those are gorgeous.
They're...

- Charlotte?

Charlotte?
(clapping hands)

Charlotte!

- I apologize.

I don't know what came over me.

- Neither do I.
But it's not cool.

I got a lot going on.

I'm juggling a lot and it's hard.

Be present!
You're the maid of honor.

This wedding has to go smoothly.

So please,
just cooperate.

- I will.

I'm... sorry I upset you, Henry.

- Charlotte's tough.
She'll fight you to the end.

- There isn't gonna be a wedding, Parker.

Sandman thinks he's got you,
but he doesn't.

This is a party trick
compared to what we've been through.

Nothing that is happening
in Sandman's head is real.

We're real.

(laughs)

- I'm just saying, it was weird.
He kinda just kept freaking out.

- Well, Henry is...
He's sensitive.

And grooms can get nervous too.

- And then he walked out of here.

- Because we have a wedding
in 15 minutes

and he shouldn't be
in my dressing room.

That's it.
- I don't know.

Have you noticed, there's hardly
anyone here, no other guests?

I just think that...
I mean, some of the staff

might be disappearing.
(knock at door)

- Come in.

- Wow.

(laughing)

You look, um... Wow.
- Stop.

- Wow.
- Stop it.

That is so sweet.
I feel like, um...

I feel like a princess.

Oh!

Promise.
Promise you won't be mad at me.

But I really want you
to make a best man's toast.

What?

- It's tiny, it...

It's just I don't think
I've ever had

an espresso martini
before today.

I don't...

Are you sure you should be doing this?

(laughing)

- Because you had coffee
in your cocktail?

- How well do you know this guy?

- He's your best friend.

- Audrey, I think we're just trying to say
it's just a really weird vibe.

And I think Grayson and I
are maybe feeling the same thing.

- Okay, stop.
I'm getting married.

To the most wonderful man,
in less than 15 minutes.

So, out, please.

Unbelievable.

- I love you.

You fought so hard
to be who you are.

I need you to remember.
Come back to me.

- There he is.
Let's get this wedding started.

- Whoa.
Why are you in such a rush?

- It's only the date and time
engraved on the invitation, buddy.

- I don't remember
getting that invitation.

In fact, I don't remember us
growing up together.

So why am I your best man?

(light rock music)

Whoa, whoa.
What is that?

Is that music?

- That's just the band you hired
doing a soundcheck.

Forget about that.

Let's go somewhere quiet
where we can talk.

- For me, everywhere is quiet, right?

At least it's supposed to be.

There's no way for me
to have hired that band.

I can't hear.
- You just had to push it.

I got you out of that
sinkhole of a town.

I gave you back your hearing.
That was a favor.

- I don't want your favors.

- Every time I bring someone
into this place, it costs me.

I had no idea how much.

It's so stressful
trying to keep you people happy.

- Then put me back.

Put us all back!

- This is the new Haven.
Every man for himself.

Audrey Parker is mine.

(choking)

- Come on, come on, come on.

- Did you just see that?

Grayson just... he...
What was that? What the hell just happened?

- Audrey.
No, I remember.

I... I remember what I wanted
to tell you so badly.

- What?

- You're in terrible danger.

We both are.

- You murdered Grayson.

Are Charlotte and Audrey next?

- If they fight me.

- You've got a lot
of people up in there.

And you don't have enough power
to control them.

Grayson rejected you.
- Nobody rejects me in my world.

- I bet they do in the real world.

What happened to your parents?

- There was a car accident.

They got death certificates
and I got these.

- An orphan?

Now let rne tell you the rest.

An old relative took you in.

Abused you.

- I wouldn't let them.

- Right.

Well let's say... let's say
that there was no beatings.

But you didn't have
any friends either.

- Friends are fickle.

- So little Henry created
his imaginary world.

When he grew up,
he was able to trap people in it.

It's kind of pathetic.

- This is the best thing
that's ever happened to me.

And I am going to push
my abilities to the limit.

- You have no idea
what that Trouble's doing to you.

- You don't care about me.

You only care about
your girlfriend, Charlotte.

Leave me alone.

Or you will never
see her awake again.

- You're crazy.
You're crazy.

I think I would remember
if I helped people

with their supernatural Troubles.

- But that's what I'm trying
to get you to do.

There's a whole town that needs you.

Now I have a plan to end the Troubles.
But it'll take both of us.

- That's a really high expectation.

I like my life.
It's simple.

Henry... Henry loves me.

And he's...
Oh, he's perfect.

- He's not your true love.
Nathan is.

This isn't real.

Where did you
and Henry meet?

When did he propose?
How did you get here?

- I... well...

(Henry): Audrey?
Where are you?

- Listen to me, Audrey.
We're running out of time.

Henry can't know
that we're talking about this,

or we'll both end up like Grayson.

Now I know this will sound
impossible, but...

I am your mother.
And I love you.

We just found each other, dove,

so... please try to remember.

- My mother?

- I haven't been treating you
like my child,

and I'm sorry about that,
but I was scared.

- If you were my mother,
I think I would remember you.

- You don't remember me because
Henry took away your identity.

People need you.

I need you.

(gasps)
Audrey?

. Okay-

You want to get rid
of the Haven inside of you?

I might know how.
Found it.

Check it out.

- Man in North Carolina claims
he can remove

the black tar of evil
from your soul.

Black tar of evil.
Like aether.

You think this is for real?
- I think it's worth a road trip.

- All right, let's do it.
- Yeah?

- Yeah.

- I'm gonna run inside, get some snacks.
I'll be right back.

(Duke): Okay.

(39th): Okay.

Buddy?
Yeah, you.

Unless you're checking your hair
in my side view mirror,

I'm gonna have to ask you
to step away from the van, please.

- No, I was waiting
for you to get snacks.

Huh.

I was wondering why
I was getting snacks.

- Oh, come on.
You don't remember me again?

- No, so if you just step away,

otherwise I'm gonna
have to call the cops.

- What the hell, you were gone for,
what, ten seconds?

You didn't walk 100 feet away.

- Okay, well you can walk away.

And you know, you can feel free

to go just way
further than 100 feet.

- No, don't start the car.
Seth. Seth? Turn the car off.

- I can't... sorry. I can't hear you.
It's a very loud car. No, sorry.

- Just listen, listen, listen...
Listen!

This sucks.

(Nathan): Parker.
I know you can hear me.

We can't talk Sandman down.
He's losing it.

It's up to you.
The accident.

What happened to him as a kid?

Getting Troubled when Duke
exploded... use it.

(soft music)

- Nathan.

- There you are.

Let's do this.

We need to get married.
Right now.

- I can't.

I remember everything now.

I don't belong here.

I'm in love with someone else.

- No, you're not.

And I'll make sure of it.

(rock music)

- Stop! Stop the van!
Stop! Wait!

- What, what, what?
- Stop!

What?
- Listen.

- Oh, what is this?

What?

- Uh, 'cause I was...

Yeah...

We... are going to North Carolina.
- Oh, great.

Great, we're going
to North Carolina.

- And on the way, I'm gonna
tell you about Haven, Maine,

a little town
that nobody can remember.

A town with Rougarous
and mermen.

You interested?

- Haven?
Never heard of it.

Why does it sound familiar?

- I'll get to that part.

In the meantime...

Now.

We've got snacks, supplies,

and I am not
leaving your side.

I am your new
best friend.

Drive.
(rock music)

- Henry?

I know what it's like
to lose your parents.

- Stop... no. I don't want to hear it.
It's not about them.

- You can't force people
to live in your fantasy world.

Give them a chance
to get to know you.

Show them who you really are.

- Don't you get it?

This is who I really am.

I'm strong enough now
to take what I really want.

- You're not strong enough to keep rne
from the people that I love.

I will find a way out.

And I will take
the others with me.

- Stop it.

- Let's go to Haven together.

Don't let this Trouble ruin you.
- I'm already ruined.

I kidnapped Audrey Parker.

The woman who exists
to fight the Troubles.

They won't forgive that.

They'll execute me.

- I will protect you.
- I don't want your protection.

I want your love.

You must feel something for me.

- I do.

I-I feel sorry for you.

Henry?
- Don't.

I'll destroy this place,

along with you
and everyone else in it.

- I don't think you can.

Your focus is split.

You're losing control.

I don't think you can
hold it together any longer.

Look around.

You're doing too much at once.

You have to make a choice.

Destroy us all or save yourself.

lam... I am... I am Henry!

This is my place!

(panting)

- You're back.

- Because you never let me go.

- Is that your way of telling me
you need some space?

- Don't you dare.

(folk music)

- Dwight?

- You went in there for me.

And he could have killed you.

- And I'd do it again.

- I remember everything you said to me.

- I meant every word.

- I'm so glad you're my mother.

- I'm so glad you came back to me.

- Thank you for choosing me.
Thank you.

But we have a lot of work to do.

- I don't want anyone else
to end up like Henry.

So we need to end the Troubles.
