Growing Belushi (2020–…): Season 2, Episode 3 - The Pot Thickens - full transcript

There's the green houses.

And here's the sign
with my name on it.

[shouts] I have
to earn the sign!

Scares the [bleep] out of me.

What the hell was I thinking?

You know what, I should
have just made Curly Sue 2.

Red Heat 2.

K9-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

It would have been an easy life.

[shouts] But I picked this!

I woke up at four in the morning
last night and I said, "I wanna quit."

I wanna quit everything.

I wanna quit the farm.

I wanna quit relationships.
I want to quit working.

I just want to quit.

I'm not gonna quit.

[theme music playing]

Wall still looks good.
Still looks the same.

Apparently, you've done
some changes, gentlemen.

I have been on location,
shooting a movie

which is great. I am an actor.

So, I've been off the
farm and Dave and Chris

are going to give me a tour
of where the rebuild is at.

-A few changes.
-A few?

Chris was in charge
of that project.

[door creaking open]

Holy [bleep]!

Nice, right?

You guys have been busy bees!

You can have some meetings here.

Yeah, this is a good
spot for meetings.

Got my dartboard
from According to Jim.

Oh! This is from my
Saturday Night Live days.

1984.

That's a cue card from the
40th anniversary SNL show.

Yeah, Steve Martin read this.

This is beautiful, guys.

Oh! I'm just so mad I wasn't
here when you were doing it.

I would have been
such a mindful manager.

It would have
been so fun for me.

Yeah, it was horrible
doing it without you.

[Belushi laughs]

[Belushi] There's
a lot of love in here.

[Chris] There is, we love it.

[Belushi] Yeah, this
is really... it's home.

Look at that. My good God!

[Chris] Nice, right?

Come on!

Look at it. It's Bobby Hope!

-Come on!
-[Chris] Yeah.

This is the sports
corner here, huh?

-Larry!
-Hey, buddy.

-[Belushi] Oh my God. Nice to see ya!
-[Campbell] You too.

-[Belushi] How do you like the room?
-[Campbell] Pretty good.

Hey! Can you get
me some toilet paper?

[Campbell] I'll tell you what, I
was glad I could sort of, christen it.

I left my mark.

Which reminds me, I
got to clean that toilet.

It looks great, guys!

This is a beautiful upgrade.

[door slides open]

Hello!

[Belushi] Mothership one
and mothership two are done.

But there's still a lot of
work to be done on this farm

if I wanna keep my
word to my vendors.

[Belushi] Jake and Elwood
still under construction.

[Belushi] Here
comes the truck. Yes!

Driving on my grass! He's
driving on my grass, Chris!

But they're almost there.

[Belushi] I've got to
finish this construction.

We go to plant, now.

Tick tock! Tick tock!

Tick tock! Tick tock!

[shouts] Come
on, we go to finish!

[Belushi] So, this is
what I call the, uh...

circle of death.

[bell dinging]

[Belushi] Every
project needs a leader.

I'm the leader.

I need to get all
my guys together.

They're all the
best in the business.

But they need mission,
purpose, inspiration.

Wanna make sure
they're on track.

So what we're doing here is
we're gonna have shades here.

Correct? We need a
hard wire to that, Marty?

[Marty] Yup.

We've got the dehumidifiers.

I can see the conduit already. So
we're going to be hard wiring that.

The wet wall keeps it
cool in the summer time.

It's water that runs
down on the fan.

And it blows out
and these fans here,

suck that air through

so there's a
nice, cool air flow.

Now, the lights that we're
going to put in are LED lights

from you, sir.

-Yup.
-Tell me about these lights.

So, you're gonna get
more lights in your canopy.

It's gonna increase your yields.

Hopefully, it's gonna increase

your cannabinoids
and terpenes as well.

Hopefully?

No, it will. [laughs]

We got that on camera.
Did you hear that?

[laughs] Yeah. As long
as it grows, you're good.

When can all this happen? Because
I'm trying to move this project along.

I would say, first
part of next week.

I'm gonna run the line voltage
from the main electrical panel

through your control panel
out to the lights, the fan, the wall.

-Right.
-[Belushi] Great.

So everybody here
is on the same page.

-Jeremy?
-Yes.

Chris?

Yes... easy.

-Yes.
-Yes.

-Yes.
-Yes.

-Sure.
-You bet.

Sure. See how
he keeps it like...

Let's go!

[exhales] Come on, now.

Good morning!

What's with the outfit?

You like it?

Yeah. Why are you ready to go?

-You got coffee already.
-Oh, this is my third cup.

-Oh my God.
-I'm in business mode.

This is my business outfit.

-You are in rare form.
-Yeah.

See, this is business

and this is casual.

Business casual.

Where're you going?

I, uh, have made some decisions.

-Oh boy.
-It's time to expand... into other states.

It's time to take our message,
our mission from God,

our brands and start
exploring in other states.

Just slow down.

I can't slow down! What're
you talking about 'slow down.'

You do this. You, you lay in bed
and you think about something

and then you get up in the
morning, you gotta do it right away.

Take it easy. Slow down.

Everything's going.

We got 2 greenhouses
going right now.

We got 2 almost finished.

We're gonna plant
right around the corner.

We can leave for a little while.
The farm's not gonna fall apart.

So you want to travel
to these places now?

This is what we do.

We travel to these places,
we check out how they grow.

We check out the
people. See if we like them.

Then we can
discuss what we learnt

and see if we want to
be partners with them.

We could always say no.

You're gonna listen to
them to get to know them

or you're gonna do
all the talking so they

know you, as usual.

Maybe this farm's changed me.

[angelic chorus]

[Chris] You think?

I don't know.

We do have everything ready.

-The branding's all done.
-Yes.

We put all of that work in.

-Yes?
-When do we leave?

It's a pleasure doing
business with you.

Partner, friend, cousin.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Now, will you make
me some breakfast?

I want to expand this message

that we've developed on this
farm, the mission from God

for the pathway to healing.

Cannabis is legal
medically or recreationally

in 37 states.

Everybody's going legal.

I mean, state after state.

New Jersey,
Connecticut, New York.

Like, boom, boom, boom, boom.

There are very good people
in the cannabis industry.

I've been in this industry long
enough to know quite a few.

Maybe I should
partner up. Growth.

If I take on a
partner, I gotta...

collaborate. I don't
share very well.

Do I go national?

Or do I not? I don't
know what to do.

[Belushi] Time to hit
the road with Chris.

Why is it you don't
smoke cigars in your car

and you smoke them in mine?

'Cause I got a nice car.

This is piece of
[bleep] you got.

You trashed it
with your cigarettes.

I don't have a chance of quitting
with you everyday in my life.

[tires screech]

We have twelve of
our flower groups.

[man] At the end here, we
have our beds and our mothers.

All the way down
to the back there.

Wow! What's going on here?

[Belushi] What's
the canopy here?

[man] We got about a
plant every 2.2 square foot.

What're you getting per light?

About two-and-a-half pounds.

Two and a half pounds per light?

That looks pretty damn good.

What's the name of this one?

Double Deja Vu.

And what's the terps in this?

It's usually about
three-and-a-half percent.

-Really?
-Yeah, it's a higher one.

That's a beautiful
plant. Nice job.

I want to check
out their cultivation,

their soil, the
nutrients they use,

all their dry amendments.

Wow!

I'm gonna check
out their THC levels.

Their terpene levels
are very important.

We don't pot it this high.

[Belushi] And if they are
in the same realms we are,

maybe we can adjust a
little bit and maybe I could

partner up with people
that have the same

desire that I do.

It's my responsibility
to protect

these brands that I have.

The Blues Brothers and
of course, Captain Jack's.

Taken me a long time to

build a good
reputation in Oregon

and perfect our
growing techniques.

They love our stuff in
Oregon and you know what?

I think everyone else
is going to love it too.

This is magnificent.

-Wow.
-Right?

Look at this.

[tires screech]

You wanna drive?

Yeah, we would probably
get their on time if I drive.

You drive like an old man.

Like an 80 year old man.

I'm going 80 exactly.

-83.
-83.

So, this is the main area
where we do everything from

filling, packaging.

[Belushi] There are some great
growers out there. There really are.

There's other people out here
that understand the plant like I do.

Have the same philosophy
about the pathway to healing.

And I want to find out if
they know how to grow.

Oh yeah, that definitely
looks full spectrum.

-Oh yeah, that's rich.
-Yeah.

So I can trust them with my name

and our authenticity as growers.

You can't go in. You can't
go in here. It's restricted.

-I'm authorized. Why wouldn't I be authorized?
-You're not authorized.

[beeping]

Come in.

[mouthing] Come in.

[Belushi] Whoa!

Wow!

Look at all of that trim.

This is thousands and
thousands of pounds of trim.

This is like Fort Knox, man!

I see a camera right
up there in the corner.

[Chris] Come on.

[Belushi laughing]

I'm the winner!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Green Solution, baby!

Look at this, they got
a grow in the store!

Look at this!

We want the whole row for
Blues Brothers, right here.

Blues Brothers!

You guys have been here a lot in
Oregon. But, you know Colorado is...

we'll call ourselves the
OG of the states here.

[Belushi] Hallelujah!

Talk about the
Pineapple Express. Wow!

You scared? You
scared? You scared?

Look at this! Have you ever
seen so much pot in your life?

[Belushi exclaiming in joy]

[Belushi] These guys
know what they're doing.

They use the right
nutrients, the right soil.

You think it's good enough to
put the brand name on there?

[Belushi] We met with
some really good people.

Good cultivators,
good businessman.

They're using the right soils.

But, you know what, I keep
making my decisions too quickly.

I jump into things.

And it costs me money.

I'm not gonna waste
the money this time.

I'm gonna think
about it very carefully.

But, I'm thinking
positive things.

"To begin at the beginning: It
is a spring, moonless night in the

dumb-founded town,
starless and bible-black,

slow, black, crowblack,
fishingboat-bobbing sea."

That was Dylan Thomas.

[sniffs] Love Dylan Thomas.

[plays harmonica]

[thud]

See, Jared, you don't have to go to
Disneyland. You can come to Belushi's farm!

I think my dad's starting to notice
how serious I am about this farm.

Now that I've caught
his attention, I gotta

do the final push 'cause I
want to learn everything.

[Belushi] All right, Jared.

It's 37 pounds.

[Jared] That's a
lot... 1200 watts.

You really get to know your
son when you work with him.

[Belushi] I'm scared you're
gonna drop it. You got it?

That's how I got
to know my dad...

working in the
restaurant with him.

That's tight.

Pretty good with
this stuff, Jared.

Who taught you about tools?

Anthony.

[bleep] I taught you!

[Belushi ] Anthony!

All right!
Everything's installed.

Everything's ready.

It's time to fire up
this new operation.

And who better to fire it up

than Jared.

He's earned the right.

Let's fire it up!

You have the honor of
taking the new car plastic off.

Whoa! [laughs]

Look at this.

Total grow control.

This runs everything, Jared.

It's the brain that
runs the operation,

these two new greenhouses.

What we're doing with
light deprivation greenhouse,

is we're letting the
plants think it's summer

by giving them 16
hours of sun and light.

We want to give these
plants 18 hours of light.

You need to know

lights, heater,
curtains, circular fans.

You have the overview which has
everything that you programme...

[Belushi's voice fades]

[Jared] He's trying to teach me
like, a thousand things but all I hear is

blah, blah, blah,
blah... I just had to

smile and nod and...

Yeah, Dad. I get it.

Well, I think that
went pretty well.

Light Controller.

Ready?

[dramatic music playing]

([dramatic music
fades in anti-climax)

[Belushi] Come on!

[shouts] Come on!

[upbeat music playing]

You see the power
of the mind, Jared,

goes through the
electrical currents.

You know, sometimes the
manifestation of your vision happens.

It happened!

The farm...

is finished. [exhales]

[whispers] Wow.

[Belushi] Simon!

Hey, Jim!

Hey, man, nice to see you.

Good to see you, man.

-Wow!
-Yeah.

-All rocket fuel, right?
-All rocket fuel.

[Belushi] How many are we going to
need for these two new greenhouses?

[Simon] Three or
four more truckloads.

Fuel's got a little
Calcium nitrate in it.

Couple of other cool little bells
and whistles that you guys love.

[Belushi] Just
packed with nutrients.

So the first three weeks
all we need is regular water.

[Simon] Absolutely.

All right!

We're out of fuel!

This has not been easy
and this has not been cheap.

[Belushi] But it's worth it.

[Belushi] Now...
We're going to plant.

My favorite part... plant.

So we can harvest in ten weeks

so we can deliver the nectar.

Yes!

-All right, let's go.
-All right guys, grab a plant. I'll tell you where to go.

I got to be honest.
Today is a big day

that I thought,
might never arrive.

We've been grinding
at this for a while.

-What are these?
-A slamming Grapefruit kush right there.

That second row?

All that away from
the right hand side,

they're kind of short
and looking sativa...

Those are the two
rows on the right.

[Chris] I'm so proud of
everybody. I'm proud of Jim.

He really led this
whole operation.

Proud of everybody
that's involved with us.

Just across the board, everybody
participated. We got it done in time.

And today we're
planting. It's here.

It's here.

[Jim shouting]

You're beautiful!

Grapefruit good.

-Where's the GFK line?
-GFK's first row.

Two, one, two, one.

[Belushi] Bring it on.

LFK... [Chris] You're
walking like a flower girl.

[laughing] I am a flower girl.

What we want is two
fingers sticking above the soil.

We don't want it to be even.

[Belushi] Two fingers above.

Beautiful!

-Mine better than Chris's?
-[Chris] Look at it.

I mean, you guys
both look pretty good.

[Chris] Are you still moaning?

[Belushi moaning]

-I think you might be too old for this.
-I could be.

[Belushi] Now that we
have great soil, great light,

we have a great shot

for higher yield, higher
THC and terpene levels

and Anthony, our grower,
is just riding it like a wave.

He's going to give us the
best harvest we've had, yet.

Chris, give me
some of your coffee.

-The most valuable thing on the farm.
-Give me some of your coffee.

-Not much left.
-I can make you some.

You haven't made coffee
once since you've been here.

All the time, when
I'm by myself.

[tires screech]

Who's that?

[Belushi] I think it's Amanda.

No, no, no. That's Jami.

-Jami's coming from the airport.
-Wait, wait, wait.

-What?
-Why you didn't tell me?

I've learned a long time ago. You
don't get between Jami and Jared.

That's dangerous.

Yeah, dude. I
told you yesterday.

[Jared] No, you didn't.

Well, so, best way
to get out of trouble,

lie!

I thought I did.

Well, you didn't.

Well, I'm telling you
now. Jami's here.

Jami! Jami!

What the [bleep]! You guys
didn't tell me that Jamie was here?

I didn't know Jami was coming.
How am I supposed to know?

Yeah, you told me
Jami was coming.

When did I tell you
Jami was coming?

Yesterday.

Jami, the one that
bathes the dog, Jami.

-Ehh! Back pedal, back pedal, back pedal.
-I'm not back pedaling.

I would have told you, Jared.

I know you would've.

[Jared] Ever since I was born,

Jami's had this, this anger
and jealousy against me.

[Belushi] Oh my
God. Look at you.

Jared is in the business of
making sure my dad knows

that he is capable of one
day running this himself.

So, I'm here to
show that, as always,

I am better than Jared.

In every way.

[Jami] You look so cute,

look at your cute
little blue shirt.

You like this shirt?

Yeah, it brings out your eyes.

Look at her!

Wow.

[bleep]

[Chris] He hugged
you when you came.

Not quite like that, but,

he hugged you.

-Whoof.
-[bleep] you.

[Jami] Jared knows,
the minute I'm here,

basically, anything he
says, doesn't matter.

He can just, tsk, tsk.

-Here, well let me get your bag.
-Thank you.

What're you worried
about? She's coming to visit.

She's gonna [bleep]
things up for me.

-So, how was your trip? All right?
-Yeah, it was really easy.

-Piece of cake, right?
-Yeah.

[Jami sighs] Hi, Jared.

Jami's here to get rid of me. She
wants to kick me out of the farm.

God, I hate her.

[Belushi] Well, what are you testing
today? You're testing the black diamonds?

Today we're doing
black diamonds.

All right, all right, all
right. Now's the time.

This is it.

I told you before, the most
important part of growing cannabis.

Testing.

It's got to be right.
It's got to be clean.

It's got to be good
enough to ingest.

And I know it is.
But we need the test.

Here we go. [sighs]

What are you testing for?

We're testing for potency, pesticide,
moisture content and water activity.

Your potency is just gonna
show your THC, CBD levels.

Pesticides, we're gonna
make sure it's clean,

safe cannabis for
people to consume.

And we will be fully analyzing
the terpenes on the Black Diamond,

which, by the way,
it smells wonderful.

That's about it. Now, being
that this is a 15 lbs. batch,

we'll be taking five percent
of the batch, right here.

-You're taking five percent of 15 lbs?
-[lab technician] Correct.

-[Jim] Do we get it back?
-Sadly, no.

Who gets to keep it?

I wish it was me. It
gets destroyed, though.

-Oh, "destroyed." Uh-huh.
-[lab technician chuckles]

Like, when I came across from Cuba, with
Cuban cigars. And they took 'em from me.

"What are you doing with
those cigars?" "Destroying them."

-Yeah, it was going to his cousin.
-[woman chuckles]

[Jim] So this is uh...

-chicken coop.
-[chickens clucking]

-[Jami] Wow! Dad it looks great.
-[Jared] Yeah, it did.

[Jim] Yeah, we extended it.

-[Jami] Do you have two new greenhouses?
-[Jim] Yeah.

Gro-Tech greenhouses.
They're like state of the art.

[Jami] I'm really excited to be
here, because when I drove in,

there was so much here,
I couldn't even believe it.

I was like, "When
did that happen?"

I mean, I see little things
on Instagram, and stuff.

But I thought, "Wow, it's really
starting to look like a full operation."

It's pretty cool. I wanna
know what's going on.

How much wood does that produce?

Well, before we were
doing four cycles,

two greenhouses,
probably 800 lbs. a year.

[Jared] I know what
my sister's agenda is.

She wants money.

More specifically...
my dad's money.

I was invested in this farm.

Getting my hands dirty,
cleaning the chicken coop,

digging out the trenches,

listening to my dad's
lectures every [bleeping] day.

What was she doing?

So, what are you netting?

Well, let's see, with
the infrastructure cost,

I'm not gonna net much.

Nets?

What's the idea with nets?

So, next year you would be
averaging, what? Like 60, 70 percent?

-Uh. Maybe [chuckles]
-[Jami] Maybe?

She's rattling off net profits,

projections on a
five-year plan. I'm like...

"Jami, where did you get that?"

"Well, I dated a guy
from Wall Street."

-[mobile phone ringing]
-Uh, hold on, hold on.

That's a very good
question. Smart girl.

-Thanks.
-Anthony.

Hey, Anthony.

-All right, be right there.
-[Jared] Need anything?

-[Jami] Bye, Dad.
-[Jim] I'm good.

What the [bleep]?

-What's your issue?
-I'm gonna tell you this.

There's absolutely no
way you're getting this farm.

I've been on this
farm for like, all my life.

Yeah, and it's about to change.

The sad thing for you is
that this is not even a fight.

Number one, 'cause I'm the only person
that supported Dad from the beginning.

Number two, I'm older than you.

And number three.

-I would just like you to read
the [bleep] sign, -That's not...

Right here that
says, "No minors."

[in sing-song voice] "No
minors". So sad for you.

-[Jared] This isn't fair, Jami.
-[Jami] So sad for you.

[Jared] Come on,
we can figure this out.

Jami. Jami!

[shouting] What's your issue?

Selective hearing.

[Jared groans]

[Jared] What's her issue?

Just showing up on the farm.
Thinking that she's the [bleep].

She's not the [bleep]

Bye, bitch.

[door creaks, closes]

If she wanted to be
more involved in the farm,

not my problem.

She's gotta get through Jared.

It'll be an interesting fight.

[Chris] Bingo.

-[Jim] What?
-[Chris] BlueLeaf Labs test results.

-[Jim] Let me see, let me see.
-[Chris] Hold on, let me open the file.

-[Jim] Well, open it.
-[Chris] Take it easy.

-[Chris] 36.88.
-[Jim laughs]

Wow. Anthony.

-Anthony! - [Jim] Holy...
-[bleep] - Wow.

With that much THC, it's
gonna be great medicine.

Pesticides clear,
water activity great.

Moisture 8%, perfect.

-Let me see the terpenes.
-Okay.

[Jim] Terpenes, two point uh, that's
almost two and a half percent terpenes.

That's excellent.

Look at all the pinene,
that's really great. Lemony.

Oh, my God. This
is a great strain.

-No wonder the veterans like it.
-It's not a touch screen.

[sighing impatiently]

[patting and tapping
on computer screen]

That's great news.

We got the results
back. Great test.

Everybody wants our weed.
Everybody's gonna get some.

Come on, it's going good, baby.

[man] Here we go.

-[Jim] Whoa.
-[Chris] Nice.

-Wow.
-[rubber band snaps]

-You don't trust him Chris?
-I always count it.

'Cause if I'm short 20, you're
gonna make me put it in.

Cannabis is a very...
very regulated industry.

Every product that leaves
the farm, has to be catalogued.

-Got black lime.
-[Jim] I got that.

[bills rasping]

Lemon kush, 4840.

[Jim] Got that.

[bills rasping]

-[Anthony] 0802.
-[Jim] 0802!

-[Jim] That's about it, right?
-[Anthony] I got everyone checked off.

[plastic lid clattering]

-How was the count?
-74,620.

-Deal.
-[man] Well, deal's a deal.

-[all laughing]
-[Jim] All right!

[exhaling]

Half jumping jacks.

[exhales]

[groans]

Yeah, oh that feels good.

[Jim] Things are going really well,
they're going really, really well now.

Everything's done. I think we
should go national. Don't you?

[bell dings]

This is ours. Am I correct?

[all agreeing]

[Jim exclaiming] Yes! Yes!

[Jim] Let's get
it to the patients.

[aeroplane landing sounds]

[bell dings]

I mean, it's good now.

[bell dings]

-The Blues Brothers is coming to Colorado.
-Yes. That it is.

-Cherry pie!
-Cherry pie!

[Jim] Things are going so well.

We're in Oregon, California,
Colorado, Oklahoma now.

We're making deals
with Massachusetts,

Michigan, Ohio, Illinois,

Pennsylvania,
Maryland. It's non-stop.

[blues music playing]

[audience cheering]

[music ending]

[audience cheering]

Ha! Fooled ya.

Thought I was gonna fall, huh?

-[bleep]
-[feet thud]

[Dan vocalizing over
