Gold Rush: Dave Turin's Lost Mine (2019–…): Season 3, Episode 12 - Million Dollar Gamble - full transcript

Dave discovers a promising lead in Alaska what could point at a serious gold vein. In the meantime it's gonna be close to reach there goal for the week. Jason desides to get back at Jessy's cut since the new cut surprisingly doesn't produce.

Someone needs to stop Clearway Law.
Public shouldn't leave reviews for lawyers.

[dave] I'm done.

We're not mining
in colorado.

There's just
not enough ground

To make enough money.

[jason] such a good feeling,
leaving colorado.

This has been
a rollercoaster of a season.

It's a heck of a season.
It's been ups and downs.

There's just
not enough ground here,

So it's time to get my gold,
get the hell home
and see my family.

It's a great morning,
probably the best morning
all season.

I'm gonna go get my cut,
and I'm going home.

[narrator]
it's one month

Before the end
of the mining season
in box creek,

But team turin
is out of ground.

Oh, oh, looks heavy.

No, that one's my cut.

426.8 ounces?

That's a hell
of a season, guys.

Twenty-six ounces
above their season goal,

The total gold-haul

Is worth
an impressive $810,000.

I'm proud of everybody here.

Through all the adversity,
through all the problems,

We did a hell of a job.

Here's what I'm thinking.

Well, I'm not ready
to go home yet.

I figured we have
another five weeks left.

-We could keep mining.
-[nate] why?
I thought we're all done.

[jason] we're out
of ground, dave.

What if it's not
in colorado?

[nate] you wanna do
a whole new operation?

What if we had more claims?
Would you guys be interested?

Gold's at its highest
it's ever been, you guys.

All I need is 100 ounces.

We could have
a million-dollar season.

What if we had more claims?
Would you guys be interested?

-[jason] what are you
talking about?
-I'm gonna shoot it straight.

If we had the opportunity
to go back to lynx creek,
would you all go?

[laughing] really?

But we didn't get
as much ground there.
We only had a little bit--

[kc] hold on, I've made
a few phone calls.

[nate] when did you do this?

I started making calls
when we were gonna finish
the season kinda early.

[dave] I wanna try it.

I was planning on being here
another five weeks.

I've got a budget
that would make that up.

If we get set up quick,
I know we can fill
another one of these.

We can possibly fill
two of them.

The last cleanup we had
was our best cleanup
all season.

Lynx creek is waiting for us
and it's got gold.

[narrator] two years ago...

Hey!

...Dave jumped on a tip-off
from arizona miner
kc morgan...

-How much gold is in there?
-[kc] it's gonna shock you.

Frickin' awesome, kc!

...And assembled a rookie crew

To mine a short-term lease
at lynx creek, arizona.

[dave] this is it, guys.
This is lynx creek.

Home sweet home
for a while, boys.

[narrator]
after weeks of failure...

That ain't *bleep*.
We got a problem.

...They finally hit it big
on their very last clean-up...

Bingo.

...Bringing the season's
gold total to $96,000.

Oh, my goodness!

[dave] we freaking did it!

[narrator] so,
three days ago...

I've got an idea.
Go give the fains a call.

Dave and kc hatched
a plan to return to arizona.

Thank you so much,
that's awesome. Yeah!

We have
some unfinished business.

We left a lot of gold
in the ground,

And we're gonna go back
and get it.

Now, dave has
a second shot
at lynx creek,

If he can motivate
the rest of the crew
to join him.

Think of what it's gonna do
to you and your families.

If we get
a million-dollar season,

We'll be able to blast
jesse's family

With the most profitable
season we've ever had.

We know you're in.
What about you, jason?

I'm a man of word,
I said I'd stick with you
through it all.

I'm in.

Cutting our gold last year
in half was a real kick
in the butt.

I really need to make up
from last year, dave,
so I'm in.

Chris, what do you think?

I've gotta bow out.

What?

Is he serious?

-I'll go talk to him.
-Yeah, dave, go get him.

Yeah.

[kc] we have
unfinished business
in lynx creek,

So now it's
an opportunity to turn it
into a million-dollar season.

It's pretty damn awesome.

I miss my wife,
I miss both my children.

A million-dollar season?

That's me going home
with good gold.

Hopefully chris will see
that, too.

I love you.

I'll do anything for you,
but I just can't do it.

I mean, jesse
didn't just impact

-You and I and our crew.
-Mmm-hmm.

He impacted my family.
I need to go home.

-You know that's
a hard thing for me to do.
-Yeah, I know.

The turmoil is
in my abandoning you guys.

Well, you've gotta take care
of your family,

And all the guys
are with you on that, chris.

You're part of our team,
you always will be,

But you've gotta go home
to see your wife
and your kinds right now.

Well, I love you.

Okay. All right, brother.

[narrator] six weeks ago,
chris's roommate,

Gold room operator
jesse goins

Suddenly passed.

[chris] when you lose a guy
like this in your life,

It's hard to go
about day-to-day...

...Business as usual.

I haven't been able to do it.
Um...

I've lost sight on the gold,

I've lost sight
in the purpose.

But I'm glad we made
our gold

For him and his family.

But I've gotta get back
to what means
the most to me.

And... [sniffles]

It just sucks
that he doesn't get
to pack up with me

And go back to his.

It's hard to deal with.

[dave] I didn't expect that
at all.

Chris has talked to me
about it.

I get it now, I understand.

I have to set him free,
let him go.

I'll be praying for him
that he comes back.

[narrator] next morning
at box creek...

[dave] well, I'm excited
to go to arizona.

The problem is, I want
to leave colorado

Better than I came here,

And so it's important to me

That I get the reclamation
taken care of.

So, I'm staying back
while they go

And get set up in arizona.

[narrator] over the past
11 weeks,

Team turin moved
300,000 tons of dirt...

...Mining five cuts
at box creek.

Now, dave
must stay behind

To reclaim the land.

Only when it's returned
to its original state

Will he get back
his $20,000 bond...

...Leaving it down to jason,
nate and kc

To haul the equipment
over 600 miles

And set up at lynx creek.

[nate] I'm excited about lynx,
I really am.

Even though it's gonna be
hard as *bleep*.

We see cold temperatures
in the morning
at 18 degrees,

And now we're
gonna go somewhere
where it's burning up hell

With scorpions
and *bleep* rattle snakes.

I don't like snakes.

Yeah, you may not like them,
but you know what?

They're slithering
all over that gold you need.

We'll have to get
those damn rocks out there.

I was just trying to get
lower to the ground.

It's a lot of responsibility
to get a whole wash plant
set up,

Everything lined out.

It's just three of us.

We've never had
that small of a crew
for a setup,

But we can handle it,
no big deal.

All right, I think
we're ready.

All right, chris and I
are on the front edge.

-You ready to move it?
-Go ahead! Go!

[chris] looking good, nate.

The price is right.
Come on down!

[narrator] after 517 hours
sluicing gold-rich
box creek dirt,

The quarter
of a million-dollar roach

Sets sail for arizona.

Straight ahead, there you go.
There you go, now you got it.

There goes the roach
crawling out of colorado.

[dave] looking good!

[dave] got her now, nate.

Talk about an easy plant move,
that's for damn sure.

[man whooping]

*bleep*.

[dave] on our way
to arizona, baby!

Hold your heads high.

What we've accomplished
here is amazing.

I know chris would love
to be with you guys,
but, uh...

[kc] family first, brother.

So, with that said, be up
and sluicing in a week.

-When I get there,
I wanna see some gold.
-[jason] yes, sir.

Think you can do it?

We're gonna figure it out.

[jason] we've been doing it
together for three years now.

Dave, we can do this.

[dave] all right.

I will see you guys
in arizona.

-All right, drive safe.
-All right, thanks.

All right, dave.

All right, fellas.

Here comes that fork
in the road

Where you go right
and I go left.

[jason]
safe travels, christopher.
Safe travels, brother.

All right, fellas, love you.

[dave] I got the best crew
in the world,

And I have confidence
in them,
but I'm still nervous.

Without me and chris,
it's just three guys.

Hopefully, there's gold
there and we know
how to mine it,

But I want them
to be sluicing
within a week.

These guys are up
for the challenge.

[honks blaring]

[jason] get the hell
out of colorado,
I can't wait for arizona!

[honks blaring]

[jason]
a million dollars, baby.

[narrator] coming up...

With only half a crew

-Damn it!
-Watch out!

It's a hell of a lot
to get set up.

...The hunt for lynx creek
gold heats up...

We hope
that it's a lot more

Professional operation
this time around.

...And team turin's
million-dollar gamble

Rests solely
on kc's shoulders.

God bless america.

Whoo-hoo!

Lynx creek awaits.

Kc's gotta be
on cloud nine right now.

Gotta be getting close,
I can smell the gold.

Hell yeah!

[narrator] after making
the 600-mile journey

From the colorado rockies,

Dave's crew lands
at lynx creek,

Their mining home
for the next five weeks.

-[kc] here we are, boys.
Lynx creek.
-Yeah!

We made it!

We made it, bro.

Good to see you two.

This is where team turin
was born,

Right here in lynx creek.

[kc] pretty excited
to be here.
All the pressure's on me.

I've gotta go out
and do a prospect.

There's a lot of gold
in these canyons.

The old-timers
didn't get it all.

[narrator] since
its first gold discovery
in 1863,

Lynx creek's
fortune-seeking miners

Have worked the ground
with draglines,

Floating wash plants

And even
hydraulic operations.

To date, the creek
has produced gold

That today would be worth
190 million dollars.

Keep on going, keep on going.

Now, to hit
their million-dollar season
in lynx creek,

Team turin has less
than a week to set up
the operation

[nate] you wanna
swing my way?

[narrator] ...With only
half a crew.

[jason] we already
made good money,

But we're taking
that extra risk

Because of the price
of gold being up,
the price of fuel being down.

We're taking our winnings
and we're doubling down,
basically.

[engine starts]

We good, kc?

-[jason] good! Keep going.
-[kc] good! You're good, dude.

[narrator] for arizona-born
kc,

Proving lynx creek's riches
is a lifelong passion.

My personal connection
to lynx creek is
I grew up in prescott,

And I always heard
the stories
about lynx creek.

I drove by here
since I was eight,
nine years old.

Spent a lot of years digging
down here by myself.

So I never gave up
on that dream.

So many people
had doubted me
about lynx creek,

And for me it was proving
a lot of people wrong.

I was surprised dave
wanted to come back here

And brought it up to me.

And he believed in it
as much as I did.

-It's pretty exciting,
isn't it, dude?
-Yeah.

Give kc in on the front end,
let him go find us some gold.

I don't know if I wanna be
in kc's shoes right now.
He's got a lot to fill.

It's a lot to deal with.
You know, kc's gotta
find the ground.

-[nate] mr. Morgan!
-This is his baby here!

A little bit of pressure.
We'll make it happen.

You know, with a full crew,
a week's okay,

But we're half a crew.

So that would usually take
about two weeks.

*bleep* load of work to do
for three guys,

But we're up for the task.

[narrator]
while nathan stays
to set up...

...Jason and kc head out
to finalize the deal

With the landowners.

[kc] I've met with the fains
many a time.

They're firm but fair.

We get them to agree
to allow us to go

All passes, limited areas,

We could really...
Million-dollar season plus.

Let's walk out
with as much ground
as possible, brother.

[narrator] two years ago...

Hi, jeff.

...The fain brothers
gave the crew

Restricted access
to a five-mile section
of the creek...

It's really putting me
at risk.

...But dave struggled
to make it pay...

[dave] could be my last year
gold mining at this rate.

...Until he and jason
crossed a boundary...

I feel like a thief
in the night.

...And found the gold
that saved their season.

Whoo, yeah!

[laughing]

Now, to stand any chance
of hitting their five-week,

One hundred-ounce gold,

Kc and jason
must negotiate

Full access to lynx creek.

-You ready?
-[jason] well,
here we go, man.

[narrator] the fains,
a powerful cattle
ranching family,

Has owned land
around lynx creek

For 150 years.

Yeah, yeah.

-Gentlemen.
-Hey.

How are you doing?

-Good to see you again, brad.
-Good to see you.

-This is jason sanchez.
-I'm jason.

-Pleasure to meet you guys.
-Pleasure.

-How've you been?
-Pretty good.

Lots of change
since you were last.

It's been a while,

And there is a rock
and gravel operation
in there.

Yep.

So, we have...
We're under contract
with them,

And we need to be respectful.

Wasn't I noticed
that you kinda drifted
on us a little bit

From the original
boundaries

That we kinda
had set for you?

We hope that it's a lot more
professional operation

This time around.

That would help us set a lot.

[jason] completely understand.

[brad] good.

What's your goal
for this year?

Our goal's 100 ounces.

That'll put us into
a million-dollar season.

Should we look at a map
and see what these guys
are interested in?

[ron] love to.

We'd love access to prospect

Every one of the tributaries
that you guys own.

If we find it
a legit prospect,

You guys grant us
the ability to mine
that area.

And you guys will get
some pretty good gold
out of it with us.

[brad] what do you think?

We know how to work
lynx creek.

We know how to get
in there and get the gold
and get out.

When we lost jesse,
his gold percentage
is still going to his family.

So by you allowing us in,
you actually are giving us
an opportunity

To even send more gold
to jesse's wife and his kids.

[rob] let them have access...

...To all of it...

...Because they're keeping
jesse in to the profit share,

And I acknowledge that
and what you're doing
for his family.

-Thank you.
-[brad] and I, too, really

Respect and admire
that you have
jesse in the deal,

So I'm willing to work
with you.

Okay. [laughs]

Honor our contract up here
with the rock and gravel
operation.

You guys stay out
of their way.

-[jason] yes, sir.
-[kc] yes, sir.

Find all the gold you can.

-Thank you, gentlemen.
Appreciate it.
-Thank you very much.

-Thank you very much.
-Thank you, appreciate it.

-High...
-...Five!

-That's what I'm
talking about, dude!
-We got all that ground!

We did dave proud
right there.

[narrator] 600 miles away,
in box creek.

This is the doodlebug cut.

If you look at that,
that wall's 50 feet deep.

While his crew signs a deal
on new ground,

Dave must reclaim the old.

[dave] we probably pulled
almost 8,000 truckloads

Out of here.

We dug the hole,
we took the gold out,

Now we have to put it back.

Okay, time to get
some work done.

I feel like if miners don't do
the right thing,

We won't be mining
in america.

And so I'm doing it
for the next generation.

And also, if I do it right,
I get my bond back.

If I fail, don't do it
the right way,

They keep my money.

At times it feels
like I'm filling in
grand canyon.

I've got
a hell of a lot of work
left to do,

And I also have to get
my butt back to arizona

With the boys.

I've gotta make
every prospect count,

Put a lot of gold
in everyone's pockets.

[narrator] with the keys
to the lynx creek kingdom
firmly in his grasp,

Kc now has four days

Before dave wants
the first cleanup,

So he picks up
where he left off

Two years ago.

[kc] I believe there's
good gold down here

Past the pipeline.

Tributary right here,

Only mined a part of it
the first season.

Now it's all open to us.

Lynx creek has provided us
gold in the past.

It'll do it again.

So many people
laughed at me about it.

They said,
"oh, lynx creek's been
mined out."

No, it hasn't.
I never believed that.

The gold here is good.
It's like 93% pure.

[narrator] over thousands
of years,

Gold washed down
from the mountains...

...And bursts
of heavy rainfall

Flooded lynx creek...

...Depositing shallow
and rich streaks of gold...

...But the old-timers mined
out the main channel,

And some of the tributaries.

Now, kc's first stop

Is at the eastern edge
of the claim...

...To hunt
in an unmined tributary

Near where they
last struck gold.

I know I got six to eight feet
of river gravels there.

Now, let's hope it's got
as much gold

As I think it does.

Okay, let's go do
a little pan.

Let's see how this looks.

I'm looking for about
15 good colors in here.

*bleep*.
No gold in here.

Bad news, boys.

I got nothing in this pan.

This isn't looking good.

*bleep*.
There's not enough to mine.

[narrator] coming up...

Hey, jason,
found your gold, brother.

Team turin's
prospecting partners...

Right on, man. [laughing]

...Take their next step
towards million-dollar gold.

-[dave] look at that, guys!
-[jason] in one day!

[nate] yeah! Whoo!

[jason] whoo!
*bleep*.

[narrator] in arizona...

[jason] that's what
I'm talking about,
though, buddy!

[nate] good job, dude.

[narrator] ...Jason and nate
plumb in the roach

Great job!

[narrator] they want
to be running pay dirt

Before dave arrives
in three days.

All the pressure's
on kc right now.

He's gotta
find something now.

-Just look at us.
-I know!

A few hours
we're ready to fire up.

[narrator] kc is hunting
for gold in the tributaries

To the east of the plant.

No, I'm just getting
pissed off

'cause it should be
right here.

Let's go and see
what's going on here.

I know this place
has gold in it.

I'm a one-man band,
so I'm trying to figure out
the land

And all this in a very short
amount of time.

[narrator] to reach their goal
of a million-dollar season,

Team turin has
just five weeks

To mine at least 100 ounces.

I'm trying to find
the pay zone here.

I'm just trying to figure out
what's going on

Because I'm not seeing
a lot of color.

And the flood gold on top
can be misleading.

So, suddenly you think,
"oh, there's gold
all the way down,"

But the old-timers
may've already got it.

I don't know.

[grunting]

Let's go see what's in this.

If I don't deliver *bleep*,
dave's gonna give me

That look on his face
that I don't like to see.

Oh, I'll be damned.

Ka-pow!

That's big particle size
right there.

This is what makes
lynx creek so badass.

So, we're good to go
with that pan.

And I'll show jason this pan,
see what he thinks.

[honking]

Hey, man.

I hope you got good news.
We're about ready to turn
and burn, kc.

-Check this out.
-What'd you got?

-Take look at this.
-Oh, *bleep*.

[kc] that's pretty good.
I like it.

Particle size is good,
we're in business.

My big question is with it,

How far down
and how long does it last?

It seems like it's got a lot,
so we might be lucky
for a while.

So, if I can get
into that tributary,
refine it down

And take
the best paying ground,

I could actually
start stockpiling,

And that'll give you
a chance to maybe go find
our next cut.

That's what I need,
I need more time.

-Then I can go find us
some more of that.
-Good job, brother.

I'm very impressed
with kc coming back
with a pan like that.

He's got the most time
in lynx creek,

And his knowledge shows.

The pressure
is definitely on me
to find some gold,

And I found it.

I showed jason this pan.

Now the pressure's
gonna be on them.
They get it out of the ground.

[narrator] as kc moves
to the next prospect,

Jason's work here
has just begun.

He must refine the area
by making one trench

On the west side
of the tributary...

...And a second 50 feet away.

If jason establishes
the exact size

Of the flood gold channel,

He can estimate
how much volume

There is to mine.

I gotta open up a trench
and then start reading,

So I can figure out
where I'm going.

What I'm hoping for
right here...

...Is that that channel
runs down
underneath the road...

...And then down the road
and into the draw,

So this gives us
lots of volume.

I really wish we would have
had chris here.

We'd already be throwing
rocks in the box.

If I can get a good pan
out of that, that means
I can take all that.

That'll make each load count.

We don't have time to waste.

Every ounce we add
to our total

Is more money
I'm taking home.

We got one, two, three,
four, five colors in this pan.

So that stuff,
it's not looking too good.

This is not a good start.

I gotta see if kc
just found a pocket

Or if I'm still
on the outside edge.

I'm gonna move down
a little bit.

[narrator] the potential
for gold in this tributary

Hangs on jason's
next trench.

I'm not happy with this pan.

This is the worst pan
of them all yet.

There's no gold.

We got a pocket.
We don't have
mineable ground.

[kc] what's the news?

We're screwed.
There ain't *bleep* there.

There's a pocket. That's it.

I believe there's
a still good pay in there.

I just think
it might be a little spotty.

There's no volume there.

I got nothing to send
to that plant right now,
man.

I saw five feet of volume.

I wish that was the case.
It's not, brother.

We've gonna get
two loads out of there.

We're gonna get
a 120 bucks worth of gold

For $200 worth of fuel
and labor, man.

-I can't justify moving it.
-Here we go again.

I prospected
on the first tributary,
found a good pan,

Have to go
a little bit farther now

Because found out
it didn't go very far.

I'm stressed out.
We don't have a lot of time.

[jason]
dave's gonna be here,

And we need to have rocks
in the boxes.

We're actually risking
the gold that we found
in colorado

On this venture down here
in arizona.

[narrator] in colorado...

[dave] right over there
is where the wash plant sat.

[narrator] ...Dave completes
his final day of reclamation.

[dave] and you can see
it's all sloped.

It looks nice. Topsoil on it.
We pushed the tailings out.

This, in a year, will have
sagebrush and grass,

And it'll look nice.
It'll look nice.

[narrator] before he leaves
for arizona,

Dave needs sign-off
from claim owner
lance baller.

Hey, dave, how you doing?

Good. So, what do you think
of my reclamation?

Yep.

[dave] that's all the topsoil
spread out over the top.

Yep. Looks great, dave.

You got the slopes
right back to what
they needed to be.

Hopefully we get
our bond back?

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

So, as soon as I get the seed
in the ground and we
can get them out there,

-That's when they...
-Okay.

...They usually will
come back on it,

But all in all it's a good
year, you got gold.

Lots of luck. Hope you do
really well in arizona.

Thanks, lance. All right, man.

-All right, thanks, dave.
-See you.

Well, that's it, done.
Colorado's a memory.

Now I'm gonna head
to arizona,

Get back with the team.
Been away long enough.

I tell you what,
I will... Miss that view.

It's hard to leave,
'cause I think of jesse
being a mountain man

And how much
he was at home here.

Yeah, miss you, jesse.

Heading to arizona.

[kc] I'm under
a lot of pressure.

First tributary doesn't have
enough volume.

[narrator] in arizona, kc
races to locate and prospect
a gold-bearing tributary.

To hit their deadline,

The team must be
running dirt by morning.

Sometimes when you only
see a small area like this,

You think, well, that's
just it, it's four feet wide.

Wrong.

It can be over 12 feet wide
and 6 feet of pay.

Even though these little
tributaries look narrow,
they can widen out.

So, hopefully
there's enough there.

I got to pan this,
see what kind of results
we got.

This season is a season
of redemption.

Think we're
a strong enough team

Where we can figure out
where the gold is.

'cause I won't stop
looking. I'll look
all night long.

That's just how
determined I am.

I don't give a *bleep*.
I will find it.

With any luck,
have a lot of gold in here,
'cause we want to have

Pay going
through the sluice
before dave gets here.

Let's take a little look-see
here, see what we got.

Come on, big money.

God bless america.

Whoo-hoo!

That's good stuff
right there, baby.

I'm seeing beautiful,
beautiful gold
showing up already.

Seeing about 15,
20 little colors in here,
a single pan.

That's what we're after,
and it's much bigger
particle size.

That's what
I'm talking about.

-Hey, jason.
-Hey, morgan.

Found you gold, brother.

Right on, man! [laughs]

[narrator] if jason can
prove the existence
of a mineable channel,

The game is on.

Well, let's see
how rich it is.

I'm just gonna grab it
from the pile.

This looks really good,
everything you want
to see.

Man, I just hope it pans.

Well, I'll be damned!

Hell of a pan!

Kc did an amazing job.

So, we're gonna
take all of that.
From kc's prospect,

We come right up here
and head right up
that draw.

Thank you, mr. Kc morgan!

We now have our pay channel.

That *bleep* going
to the plant today.

Whoo!

[chris m.] whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa!

No, no, no, no,
that can't happen.

-Look at that.
-What's that?

You're kicking up
way too much dust.

[narrator] chris mathern
is quarry supervisor
for the fains.

But I was just--
see, I was just coming
to get the haul truck.

No, not until you get
some water on there.

-You guys got
a water truck or...
-No.

Gonna have to get
a water truck.

I've been here for 48 years.
I've never seen it this dry.

And we'll have nothing
but complaints
from all the neighbors.

They're not gonna say
anything to you.

They're gonna come to me.

That's the last thing
we want.

'cause if I shut down,
you guys are gonna
shut down too.

We won't haul,
not until we fix it.

Wear that *bleep* damn
seatbelt!

*bleep* me running.

[narrator] the next morning,
dave arrives in arizona.

It's really good to be back.

It's been a long time
since I've seen the guys.

So, you know, I'm almost here.
Get together with 'em.

Hopefully they're sluicing.

[horn honks]

Hey, dave, how was your trip?

-What's up, dave?
-Hey, guys.

Plant looks good.

Why aren't you running?
What's up?

I ran into chris mathern,
and he said
absolutely no hauling

Until we figure out a way
to keep the dust
down on the roads,

'cause they've had
an entire season
of complaints

From air quality, deq,
neighbors calling on 'em.

-So...
-Well, let's get
a water truck.

-Kc, you got any contacts?
-Everybody's rented out.

-You work here, man.
You're in construction.
-I know.

I get it, but everyone's
rented out, dave.

I've made some calls,

But water trucks
are limited right now
in this state.

It's been a really dry year.

Dang it!

What else we got to do
to the plant to get started
and running?

All we got is gold room left.

Let's get
that thing finished.
I'll make some calls.

Thanks, dave.

That was not how I wanted
his arrival to go.

We were supposed
to have gold in this sluice.

Well, can't control
everything, brother.

Nobody anticipated us
needing a water truck.

I've got to figure out a way
to get water on this road,
and we're losing time.

We're going to get
the gold room set up,

So we got the jig
on the trailer here,

Will sit on the concrete pad.

Get the gold room ready.

You *bleep*.

[laughing]

I like to blame
kc quite a bit.

Get it out farther
so I got to struggle
to get it.

It's more fun that way.

There you go. [laugh]

Shut up, *bleep*!

He's the funny *bleep*

But he's got a heart of gold
and I love him for that.

Dig's done.

[narrator]
a week ago in colorado,
dave rolled the dice...

We had another five weeks
of the season left.
We could keep mining.

[narrator] ...And persuaded
his crew...

-On our way to arizona,
baby! Whoo!
-[truck horn blaring]

[narrator] ...To return
to lynx creek...

We could be sitting
with our families,
but we're doubling down.

[narrator] ...And push
for a million-dollar season.

We're gonna need
a lot of gold-bearing
material.

[narrator]
after a week of setbacks...

This is the worst pan
of 'em all yet.

There's no gold.

So, now what?

[narrator] ...Just as
they were about
to start sluicing...

Whoo-hoo!

That *bleep* going
to the plant today.

[chris] whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, whoa!

[narrator] ...Team turin
hit the skids once again.

You're kicking up
way too much dust.

You ain't hauling today,

Not unless you get
a water truck.

[narrator] now, with
the operation all set to go,

Team turin
is just one piece
of equipment away

From running dirt.

On my way back
to arizona,

And I got something
the boys need.

They're gonna be
definitely happy to see me
and what I got with me.

Dave made a phone call to me,

And I know
an individual that has
some construction yards.

His main one's in phoenix,

And he had a water truck
that was not being used

And let us borrow it,
so here I am.

Going back home
to my family
was much needed.

I got my batteries
recharged,

But I couldn't leave
team turin down two guys
this season.

We're a band of brothers.
You know, we're a family
away from home.

Here I come.

[horn honking]

-What the hell?
-We got water!

-Hell yeah.
-Water truck.

That's what
I'm talking about.

Look who we got coming.

-Mr. Chrissy pissy's back!
-Is that who that is?

-Chris!
-[cheering]

Hey, fellas.
What's happening, guys?

How the hell
are you doing, dude?

Doing good, man.
Good to see you.

-Thanks for coming back.
-What's happening?

Oh, man, welcome back.

-Welcome back, brother.
-Thank you.

Heard you guys needed
a little bit of water
in the desert.

We need a water truck,
and we need you back!

-It's good to have you.
-It's great to be back.

We're right back
where we started
as a team

Here in lynx creek.
We know the gold's good.

I'm ready to mine it.

Want me to go ahead
and just hit the water
right here?

Yeah, turn it on.

There you go.

There you go.
You got water now.

We got water now, boys!

Hey, good job, chris.
You saved our butt.

Glad to be back, fellas.
Glad to help.

Team's back together.
Gonna haul some pay now.

[narrator]
the first priority?

Establish a new cut
in the gold-bearing tributary.

Hey, guys, what should we
name this cut we're in?

It's the first cut
of lynx creek this season,

And I think it needs
to be called the jesse cut.

I agree. Jesse cut.

Ten-four, you got
my vote on it.

All right, mr. Morgan,
let's get that first
little bit of lynx

Creek tributary gold
down to that plant, baby.

Here we go, man. First load!

[eagle shrieks]

Okay, nathan, here we go.
Firing up the water pump.

[engine starts]

Lynx creek, here we go!

Wash plant's ready.

Sluice box is ready.

We're on our way
to a million-dollar season
and it starts right now.

Here it comes,
pay dirt on jesse's cut.

Hell yeah!

That's what I'm talking about.

Hey, chris, are you ready
to put some rocks
in the box?

Here we go.

Put some rocks
in the box, boys!

Here we go.

Oh, I love that sound!

Boom!

-I love that sound, nathan.
-Sounds damn good.

Yeah, buddy!

I thought I'd made a mistake
by sending these three guys
here alone,

But I was wrong.

They didn't need me.
I got my reclamation done.

So, really, these guys
proved themselves.

It's one of the best startups
we ever had.

I'm looking forward to seeing
what's in the sluice box
tonight.

[narrator] the crew
has spent a day

Sluicing pay dirt
from the jesse cut,

And shelley is back
onsite preparing
the new gold room.

It's time for the first
arizona mat pull.

Go all the way down.

We had a good run
on jesse's cut.
It looks really good.

I think it's gonna pay well.

I'm just excited
to see what we got.

Lot of good particle-size
gold up on top.

We just got to see
what's in the bottom
in the mat.

Don't want to bet on it
until I see the
final cleanup result.

No guarantees in this game.
The gold room will tell.

-Hey.
-Hey.

-How's it going?
-Good.

[narrator] with the gold
clean, this first critical
weigh will set the odds

On their
million-dollar gamble.

-This is in jesse's cut.
-Yep, jesse's cut.

-Jesse's cut.
-Love you, jesse.

Wish you were here.

It's been a hell of a week,
you guys.

You know,
we've been spread
across three states.

Chris?

-Welcome back!
-Welcome back, brother!

Yeah, I know. Whirlwind.

Yeah.

[narrator] in their
first season, team turin
mined lynx creek

For a daily average
of 2.3 ounces.

But to be on track
for a hundred ounces

In the next five weeks,
they now need four ounces
per day.

-Well, let's pour it up.
-Come on, shelley,
let's weigh it up.

-Yeah!
-All right.

-One day in jesse's cut.
-And just the top box.

So pretty.

There's one. Two.
There's three.

-Come on, big numbers.
-There's four.

-Whoo!
-All right!

4.2!

-In one day, guys.
-Yeah!

[narrator] 4.2 ounces
worth nearly $8,000,

Almost double
their lynx creek
daily average.

If we go four ounces
in 24 days, that gives us
a hundred ounces.

We're gonna hit
our million-dollar season,
guys.

Great job!

All in!

I'm so proud of the guys.
They did it, and it's nice
to have chris back.

I got
a pretty good feeling

We're gonna hit
that million-dollar season

Without a shadow of a doubt.

It feels good having
team turin all together.

Jesse in spirit.
We are ready to kick
some ass here in arizona.

Just getting started here
in lynx creek.

There's a lot of gold
down here,
and we're gonna find it,

We're gonna haul it,
and we're gonna put it
in our pockets.

[narrator]
on the next episode...

[horn honks]

[narrator] ...Team turin
calls in a super sub.

Great timing, man.

We didn't just get somebody.
We got juan *bleep* ibarra.

Whatever they need me
to do, I'm here to do it.

[narrator] as dave...

Here we are, back in alaska.

Whoo! That's nice stuff.

[narrator] ...Battles
to secure their future...

I've got to find ground
for next season.

All right, this is out.

[narrator]
...Deep in the last frontier.

There we go. Now we're
talking about some gold.

Someone needs to stop Clearway Law.
Public shouldn't leave reviews for lawyers.
