Gidseltagningen (2017–…): Season 2, Episode 4 - Episode #2.4 - full transcript

With Philip trapped in the ferry's freezer, the hostage-takers use harsh methods to get hold of June's cell phone, which turns out to be the reason for their kidnapping and hijacking. On land, the investigators SP and Simon are trying to quickly learn more about the hostage-takers' identities, motives and potential co-conspirators, while the TTF with the backing of the government prepares for a surprise assault to release all the hostages and shut down the situation once and for all.

It's a video of Danish soldiers
getting killed in Syria.

- Do you believe her?
- Her link is dead.

- June al-Baqee.
- I called Moscow. We know nothing.

Esben Garnov from the Danish police.

We have taken the ferry
in the name of Allah.

- Philip, what's going on?
- I need to follow up on something.

We're looking for a girl.

If the hijackers are Islamists,
we may be in for a wave of attacks.

TTF recommends further negotiations.

But we risk them killing
all the hostages while we wait.

We lack the intelligence
for a full operation.

Stop right there!
Put the gun down!

I shoot him right now!

Saturday 2:50 a.m.

Fine. Continue aft.

Keep your distance.

There.
That looks like a hostage.

- There's something out there.
- What is it?

There are about... about 20.

Okay, fly on. Further.

There.
That could be the hijackers.

I count four,
five with the guy on the roof.

- Are they about to take off?
- It looks like it.

Let them go.
We'll take them on the open sea.

Come on, guys,
get that boat in the water!

Mahdi, push that one down first.

A drone!
A fucking drone!

- Lights, come on!
- Yusuf! We're free now. Let's go!

No. If they've seen us, they will
just wait for us, trying to escape.

Shit! They saw us.

Garnov, incoming call from the ferry.

This is Esben Garnov from the
Danish police. With whom am I speaking?

The Privateers. Stay away from
the ferry. No drones, no men!

If you come near the boat again,
we'll execute every single hostage.

Shit!

Bring the drone back.

BELOW THE SURFACE II

Saturday 3:24 a.m., Elsinore

We sent a drone out to the ferry.

The hostages are in the aft salon.

We don't know where the hijackers are.
We think there are four, maybe five.

- All heavily armed.
- Five?

Yes. We're assuming
June al-Baqee is on board.

But we aren't sure
whether she's a hostage or a hijacker.

There are five of them on this
drone photo. One of them is a woman.

So do we move in or await
their demands and start negotiations?

Sunup is in 50 minutes, making
it too light for a covert operation.

If we move in, the hijackers may
carry out their threat -

- and kill all the hostages.

Okay. I'll inform the Minister.

At the end of the day,
it's her decision.

Okay. We know he speaks Danish
and likes Allah, but who the fuck is he?

A crazy guy with an automatic rifle.

Simon, go home.

Okay? Take a few hours.

Talk to your wife
and wipe Emma's ass. Okay?

SP? A woman's here to see you.

Thanks, Anders. I'll take over.

- Coffee?
- No, I'm good.

Let's go in here.

Sit down.

- Mahdi sent this.
- "With Rami. Be home later."

- Rami is your husband's big brother?
- Yes.

- Check him out. He's bad company.
- We've checked him.

Two convictions,
one for drugs, one for assault.

The last one was four years ago.
That doesn't make him a ferry hijacker.

It's just...

Since Rami came back a year ago,
I've been scared of him.

- Where did he go?
- Pakistan, he says.

Quran school, but who does that at 28?

- You think he went to Syria?
- I don't know. Mahdi thinks so.

Rami is eager to be a true Muslim.

He keeps asking me why I don't wear
a hijab and do this and that.

Okay.

Mahdi always laughed it off,
but a few months ago, he started too.

- Started what?
- No more alcohol. Music was wrong.

Little things like that.

Then one day he bought me a hijab.

I refused to wear it,
and then we got into a big fight.

Why didn't you tell us this before?

I'm scared Mahdi will do
something wrong.

Today, they suddenly had
important things to do.

Do you know what?

- They said they needed the car.
- The Audi?

Mahdi and Rami needed the Audi?

Where does Rami live?

At the mosque.

- I think it's called Brothers of Islam.
- Okay.

- Mahdi's a good guy.
- Right.

But when he's with his brother,
he's weak.

- Go!
- Forget it.

- Go.
- Let's go home!

Go!

- Hurry!
- Okay, A, I will do that.

New orders from A.
I need to talk to you.

Hassan, let me know if anything happens.
Come on, guys, let's go.

Is she okay?

She's asleep.

But the rest of us are
hungry and thirsty.

Yes.

- Hey.
- What do you want?

- Hands off the curtain.
- We need something to drink.

We're all thirsty and hungry.
We've been here for hours.

- There's a baby here, too.
- I can't help you.

Hey.

How's the shoulder?

It's okay.

You haven't done this before, have you?
You've never held a weapon before.

Don't you worry about that.

Hey, bro.
What's going on in there?

Yusuf is talking to June.

- What's up?
- Let's give the passengers some food.

- Why?
- There are kids...

- Oh, brother, why are you so soft?
- They're hungry.

I'm starving.

I want you to start talking!
Where is your cell phone?

The one you used in Syria?
Where did you hide it?

June!

Here. This is your gun.
Elias will help and teach you.

I respect that you fight for what you
believe in, but it'll get you nowhere.

You'll just make things worse
for yourself and for the others -

- and you will only prolong
this situation.

My boss needs your phone, okay?

- You! You know the cafeteria, right?
- Yes.

Come.

Fuck!

- Get to work.
- I need ingredients.

Go with him.

Come on. Come on.

- What the fuck are you doing?
- Easy.

- How the fuck did you get free?
- Relax. Easy now.

On your knees! Know what I do
to people like you who act the hero?

I put a bullet in their heads.
Tie him.

Fucking dog!

- Look, it's freezing in there.
- Mind your food and shut the fuck up!

He'll freeze to death!

Keep an eye on her.

Saturday 3:51 a.m.
Greater Copenhagen

- Did you make it home?
- I watched Emma sleep for 10 minutes.

- So you didn't get any sleep?
- No.

But to be honest,
it was just what I needed.

Looking at that little rascal sleeping
revitalized me.

You sure know how to pitch it.
Maybe I should find a mom for my kids.

Brothers of Islam are up here.

Police!

Hello, this is the police!

This is the police.

Sleeping quarters for five persons.

Bathroom, empty.

Kitchen, empty.

SP?

It's empty.

This is a mosque?

Apparently so.

FATWA ISSUED AGAINST JUNE AL-BAQEE

SP. These are the last windows
they had open.

Articles about June.

- Simon.
- Yes?

Holy shit!

Shit!

- Detonators, C-4...
- Enough C-4 for a huge explosion.

SP. We've found something.
Yeah, you bet.

Send the entire package.

- What the fuck do you want?
- Come out.

What is it that you want from her?

Come on, you've kept us in the dark
for hours now. Come on.

Stay put or I'll kill you!

Listen, you've got one chance.

If it were up to me,
I'd slit your throat right now!

Here.

10 minutes!
If you don't write the number -

- I'll slaughter you and put your head
on the table. Understand?

Fucking infidel!

10 minutes!

There comes a point
when you just give up.

You lose faith in ever coming back home.

It's just something
you can't say out loud.

It's a loser attitude,
particularly in the army.

Those that get out always claim
it was because they didn't give up -

- but that's not true.

You give up.

You become so small.

Like a little child.

You're just scared.

I...

I...

was scared.

Good.

It's not like being in combat...
You're scared to the core.

The fear is like...

a rock or something like that.

And it's still inside me.

I'm just better at hiding it.

I remember...
when I was a kid.

I must have been around 10
when it started.

My father drove me into the forest
and dropped me off.

He said, "Here's a compass.
See you back home."

And I always made it back home,
I mean...

I just never...

I just never told him
how much I feared those trips.

Saturday 4:13 a.m.
Greater Copenhagen

Perfect. Put a camera in the chandelier,
and we've got the place covered.

SP, come here.

- Hindborg found this.
- What is it?

- Wait.
- Fight with your heart, your life!

That guy is the mosque's imam,
the spiritual leader, Abdul Bashir.

The caliphate is your goal.

Paradise is your...

Paradise is your ultimate reward.

It's God's will.

- So fight for true Islam!
- He advocates holy war.

- We will behead all infidels.
- Look. It's taped in this apartment.

Isn't the guy next to him Rami Hadad?

We believe the apartment is home
to a terror cell advocating jihad.

They call themselves Brothers of Islam.

Several leads connect the ferry and
the apartment; among others Rami Hadad.

He's been fighting in Syria,
most likely for ISIS.

The hijacking may be the first
in a wave of attacks, correct?

That's a possible scenario
that should be taken very seriously.

What is TTF's assessment
regarding the ferry and the hijackers?

We still have a window for moving in,
but any action entails risks.

The hijackers may kill all the hostages.

If we stop the hijacking, I'm sure we'll
put off anyone planning attacks on land.

We'd most likely prevent more attacks.

Go ahead. You have my full support.

Copy. We will operate on that.

- Thank you.
- Thank you, Frolich.

Should I make some fries, too?

- Yes.
- Let's get them from the freezer.

- Hey.
- What?

- Let me out.
- No. You shouldn't have acted the hero.

- I'm gonna freeze to death.
- Your problem.

- Where are you going?
- Nowhere.

Get the job done!

- Get a move on!
- Allah tells us Muslims to spread joy.

For the last time:
Shut the fuck up!

- Get it?
- On Judgment Day, Allah will judge...

Cook the fucking food
and shut the fuck up!

Beate.

There's someone at the door.

Hi.

- Beate?
- Yes.

I'm SP, and this is Simon.
We'd like to talk to Philip.

- Can we come in?
- Sure.

- My son's sleeping, so...
- We're sorry to come at this hour.

Is he home?
He doesn't answer his phone.

No. I talked to him a few hours ago.

- He said he was on the ferry to Sweden.
- Are you sure he said to Sweden?

Yes. Absolutely sure.

It had to do with this June al-Baqee.

- What's going on?
- We have to inform you of something.

- Can we sit down?
- Sure.

Saturday 4:17 a.m., Copenhagen

- You've heard about the hijacked ferry?
- Yes.

Just to be clear...

SVR do not know who the hijackers are,
do they?

They say they know nothing,
but I'm a diplomat, not SVR.

- You both work for the Russian state.
- Correct.

But my agenda is to get June handed over
to the Russian Federation, nothing else.

And the position of the Danish state
will remain unchanged on that point.

It's not going to happen.

- Thanks for the cigarette.
- You're welcome.

Breathe...

- Have you got him?
- I've got him.

- Relax.
- I've got him.

Easy.

Three...

Two...

One.

Exhale.

You got him.

Fuck, he's taking off.

- Shit!
- Yes, but those two survived.

- Can I see?
- Yes.

You're a hero.

No, I'm not.
No more than the other fighters.

- You've taken a lot of lives.
- We've both killed.

No, what's this?

- It's from ISIS.
- It's a fatwa against you. To kill you.

I regard the fatwa as an honor.
They have to kill me to win.

This fatwa won't go away tomorrow.
It could well remain until you die.

I'm not afraid of dying.

I just hope I've killed enough from ISIS
before Azrael collects my soul.

- I don't want to die.
- We won't. You've taught me to fight.

They'll never catch us.

Fuck!

Saturday 4:21 a.m., Elsinore

Cramer.

- Ready?
- Ready.

They must be tired out there.
Maybe some of them will try to sleep.

There are 4 of them, 16 of us,
and we have the element of surprise.

- I believe in it.
- Is Philip out there?

We don't know.
But if he is, we'll get him back home.

Here's the number.

Well, we'll soon find out.

Fuck!

Yes, A, I got her number.
21443992.

We will keep her alive
until you have validated the number.

I think the police are coming.
I saw them arriving in boats!

What?!
Are you sure? Idiot!

- It's right in here.
- I just need some fresh air first.

Okay.
Come whenever you're ready.

You're right, they're coming.

Fly in slowly.

Get a move on!

Hassan, are you ready to do
an important task?

A task Allah himself asks you
to perform?

Yes.

Let's go. They are coming.

Forget the food. Listen to me!
Forget the food!

- I'm going to finish it.
- Nobody's gonna eat now!

Allah sees you, Allah hears you
and he judges you.

- Don't you use Allah's name.
- It's no more yours than mine.

Mahdi, hurry!

Mahdi!

Saturday 04:29 a.m., Oresund
