Flipper (1964–1967): Season 3, Episode 1 - Agent Bud - full transcript

A plane crashes in the ocean with two men trapped inside and Flipper is the only one who knows where they are. Fortunately the plane is sealed tight so no water is inside, but how much air do they have left?

- Come on, Flipper!

Yeah, let me have it.

It's a regulator and a tank.

What's this?

Looks like some kinda
writing or something.

Looks like Chinese, look!

That's what it is, I'll bet!

Chinese!

I'll bet the person that
dropped this was in a hurry.

Maybe a spy?

A spy!

Maybe there's something else down there!

- I repeat, control system's dead.

We're going down!

Radio's gone dead.

We're gonna have to ditch her.

- All we needed was 10
more minutes to make land.

- No luck this time.

Hold on.

- Now what is it, Flipper?

I don't see anything.

Come on, we gotta go.

We gotta show this to dad.

- Hello, Sandy.

- Hi, Dad.

- Give me a hand with
this boxes, will you?

- Sure.

- No, that one stays here.

That's explosives.

I'm going out and blow up some wreckage

out in the Keys later this afternoon.

Give me that one.

Get the door, will you, Sandy?

- Dad, you better put
those down on the chair.

- Why?

- Well...

- Uh-oh.

What is all this stuff?

- Well, that's Bud's secret agent kit.

He bought it with money he
got from his paper route.

It came in the mail this morning.

- Secret agent kit?

I thought he was gonna spend
that money on a science manual.

- This is kinda scientific, I guess.

- What's he think he's gonna do,

find a spy here in Coral Key?

- I think even Bud knows better than that.

' Dad!

- Bud, how many times have I told you

not to slam the door

and not to come in the house all wet?

- But Dad, this is terribly important!

There's a foreign spy in the park.

Or there was one.

- I told ya, Dad.

- You mean, you know about it, too?

- No, Bud, he doesn't know about it

and I don't think you
know about it either.

- But Dad, look what me and Flipper found.

- All right, Bud, you found

an oxygen bottle and a regulator.

- But Dad, look what's written on it!

- Bud, this is the name of the largest

Japanese manufacturer of
underwater breathing apparatus

in the world.

- Well, it looked Chinese to me.

- My brother the language expert.

- Yeah.

Well, whoever lost this
will come looking for it.

I'll put it in the lost and found

and Bud, here's a little tip for you.

If you want to be a secret agent,

there's one thing you can't do:

That's leave the tools
of your trade around.

The enemy might see them and put you on KP

for about a month.

- You know, I still think we should have

gotten the fingerprints on
that regulator and bottle.

Never can be too careful.

- And what good would it
do you if you did get them?

- Well, I'd just tell the FBI

and they'd set a trap for the criminal.

- No, you've been watching
too many spy movies on TV.

Let's clean this mess up.

- Uh, Flipper wants me to go
explore with him some more.

- This first, huh?

- It's no use, the cabin
hatch is really jammed.

Hey, what's that?

Ah, it's only a fish.

- No, it's a dolphin.

- What's the difference?

It's not gonna do us any good.

Do you think this air
pocket will hold in here?

- I don't know, I wish I knew.

Look at him!

It's as if he really
knows what he's doing.

- What do you mean?

- Well, look, he's trying to
lift up that piece of wreckage.

There, you see, he's going off with it.

He might be a trained dolphin.

I've heard the Navy is doing
a lot of work with dolphins.

- Yeah, might also be a
fairy godmother in disguise.

How's your leg?

- It's okay.

We've gotta get out of here.

This air isn't going to last forever.

Try the hatch again.

- Flipper!

Sandy, why doesn't he come?

I keep calling him.

Maybe if you'd stop playing
that thing, he would.

- That's enough out of
you, little brother.

Anyway, here he comes.

- Here, Flipper!

Hey, he's got something.

What is it?

- It's a piece from an old wreck.

- No.

It's aluminum.

- Okay, it's a piece from a new wreck.

- A clue to a shipwreck.

- Ah, come on, Bud.

If there'd been a shipwreck,
Dad would have heard about it.

- Sandy, uh, Flipper's awful excited.

Look at him, it must be important.

- Uh-uh.

He's just getting into the
spirit of being a secret agent.

- No, seriously, Sandy.

I think I better follow him.

Come on, Flipper, show me
where you found it, boy.

- Roger, I've got it.

I'll keep my eyes open for the plane.

If you get any more news on it,

let me know immediately.

WD9598 out.

- Trouble, Dad?

- Yeah, I'm afraid so, Sandy.

British bomber with two
American pilots aboard

went down somewhere between
here and the Bahamas.

The bad thing about it

is they can't pinpoint the location,

so the Coast Guard doesn't
know where to start the search.

They've notified all
agencies on this coast

to be on lookout.

- Anything we can do?

- No, I'm afraid not, son.

Just have to wait until

we hear something from the Coast Guard.

- Dad, Flipper brought
something into the dock

a while ago.

He seemed kind of excited.

- Yeah, well this is no
time to worry about Flipper.

- But Dad, it looked like it could have

been part of a plane.

Maybe...

- Where is it?

- Bud took it.

He went with Flipper to
show him where he found it.

- You know where they went?

- I think so.

It's important, isn't it?

- Yeah, it could be very important.

Let's go.

- Dad, there has been a wreck!

- Right, Bud.

Now where's that piece of
wreckage Sandy told me about?

- Yeah, this looks like it could be

from an airplane, all right.

- Not long in the water, either.

- Do you think it's from a spy plane?

- I'll explain later, Bud.

Anchor the skiff and get aboard,

we'll pick it up on the way back.

Flipper, you show us the way.

- Flipper, is this where
you found the wreckage!

Bring out the wetsuits
and get the diving gear ready.

- We'd better relax.

Conserve the air.

Maybe we can think of a way to get out.

- Okay, Sandy, let's go.

- It's divers!

- We're okay!

The hatch is jammed!

The hatch is jammed!

- That fish was a fairy godmother.

- A dolphin.

It must've been a Navy dolphin.

- What is it, Dad?

- Two pilots trapped
below in a bomber, Bud.

- Are they still alive?

- Yeah, but we gotta get
them out of there in a hurry.

- They're trapped inside the cockpit.

- Bud, get the spare tanks ready.

- Right, Dad.

- Sandy, when you get out of your gear

hand me that red box.

We'll rig the explosives up here.

- Right, Dad.

- Hurry up, Bud!

- Dad, what are you gonna
do with the explosives?

Is it gonna work in water?

- It's Nitrogel, plastic explosives.

It'll work.

Hand me that spool of wire.

All right, let's place the charge.

Stay in your gear, Sandy.

Bud, is that diving slate aboard?

- Yeah, Dad.

- Let me have it right now.

- "Explosion.
Get into air pocket."

- Take this down and
show it to the pilots.

- Dad, what about Flipper?

- You'll have to send him away, Bud.

A concussion could hurt him.

- You hear that, Flipper?

Go, Flipper!

Leave!

- All right, Bud, give
me a pair of wire cutters

out of the toolbox.

- They're all set, Dad.

- All right, standby
to go right back down.

Okay!

- I never thought the sky
could look so beautiful.

You saved our lives, mister.

Whoever you are.

- Well, I'm Porter Ricks,
I'm the ranger here.

These are my two sons, Sandy and Bud.

- Hi.

- Coast Guard told me
that your plane went down.

Let me take a look at that leg.

- I don't think it's broken.

Was that a Navy dolphin who led you to us.

- No, that was my son's pet.

His name is Flipper.

' A Pet!

- Where is Flipper anyway?

- Well, wherever he is, we
owe him a lot of thanks.

- It's all right, Flipper.

We don't need anymore clues.

- All right, let's see what we can do

about this leg now.

- "And the Coast Guard
spokesman emphasized

that full credit for the rescue goes to

Ranger Porter Ricks of Coral Key Park,

his two sons, Sandy and Bud,
and their dolphin, Flipper.

The two flyers..."

- It's Dad!

Hi, Dad.

- Hello, boys.

Well, the pilots are fine.

They give you your thanks
and offer you some presents.

- Boy, they sure picked something I need.

A new diving knife.

- That's great.

- Just what I don't need!

- What's the matter,
Bud, don't you want to be

a secret agent anymore?

- Flipper and I decided we
should be a rescue team.

- A rescue team, huh?

Well, that's a good occupation.

- We've already started training.

- Really?
