When Bud catches to teenagers trapping lobsters out of season, they threaten Sandy's run for presidency to keep him quiet. Bud's silence later put's Flipper's life in grave danger.

- It's okay, go on in.

- Okay.

- There, that makes three.

One more trap oughta do it.

Hey, you see anybody?

- Only that dolphin.

- Well, he can't tell anybody.

And besides, who's gonna look in the cave?

Here, give me a hand.

I need a new tank.

- Will you cut that out, Flipper!

What are you doing?

All right, all right, I'm coming.

Hey you guys, you know lobster season

isn't open for another week.

- By then we'll have the
biggest and the best.

- But you can't.

I'll bet your uncle doesn't
know you have his boat.

- Nobody will know unless you tell 'em.

- Yeah, what small fry gonna do run home

and tell his big daddy the ranger.

- Please don't set those traps.

If you do, I'll have to tell my dad.

- No you won't.

Your brother Sandy's
running for school president

that means he needs all the
friends and votes he can get.

- So you and your dolphins friend,

just forget you saw us here.

Otherwise all our buddies
in the senior class

will torpedo Sandy's election.

Get it small fry?

Now beat it.

- Hi.

- Hi, Bud.

Here, nail this one to a stick,

I'll get started on another one.

- Sandy.

- Keep going on that.

- If you're so sure you're gonna win,

how come you're working so hard?

- Votes, Bud, to make
double sure I get enough.

- Let's say you don't win,
how would you feel then?

- I guess I wouldn't feel too good,

but does all this work look
like I'm gonna let that happen?

- Well, let's say something goes wrong,

like some kids ganged up and...

- Why'd anybody do that?

- Well, let's just say they did,

and you didn't have
anything to do with it.

- I don't get it.

You know something you're not telling me?

- Oh, no, no, no.

- Listen, I've got to shove
off for about an hour.

Will I be back in time for the blasting?

- Oh, take your time Ranger,

we're about ready to knock off for lunch.

- Hi, Dad, where you been?

- Over at Coral Cove, Bud.

At the demolition exhibit.

They're blasting some rock
out for the new causeway.

- What's that?

- What's it look like?

It's a lobster cage.

- Well, where'd you find it?

- In the ocean, just outside the park.

Well, they won't be using that one again.

Some guys just can't wait
for the season to start.

Bud, what do you think would happen

if I allowed everybody to come in here

and trap out of season?

How many lobsters you think
we'd have left in this park?

- Not many, I guess.

- Well, I wish I could find
the men that break these laws,

instead of just breaking their cages.

- Hey Howie, look who's coming?

- Hi.

- You hear something?

- Not me.

- Look, we just gotta go out
and take those traps away.

- Seems to me I did hear something.

- What do you suppose it is?

- Well, there was that
small fry the other day

who helped us set those traps.

- What do you suppose he wants?

- What do you want small fry?

- Well, my dad just explained to me

why we can't leave those traps out there.

We just gotta go and get 'em.

- You tell him we set them?

- No, but I should have.

And that's why you gotta help me, come on.

- Well, shove off and
remember, keep your mouth shut.

Hey, look, he's heading off for the cave.

- Come on, let's get this thing started.

- They're after us, Flipper.

We gotta get there and
get those traps out.

Now follow me, Flipper.

Flipper, now you take one,

and I'll get one.

Now you ready?

Let's go.

Thanks,Flipper

Here they come, Flipper.

Flipper?

- What do you think
you're doing with that trap?

- Taking it out, that's what.

- Hey, what's that?

- They're blasting for the new causeway.

Flipper!

Flipper!

Flipper's caught in the cave.

There's rocks, they've
blocked the entrance.

He can't get out!

You gotta help me!

Look, the tide's coming in.

It'll fill the cave, and
there won't be any air left.

He'll drown!

Please, help me!

You gotta help me move that rock.

- What do you think, Howie?

- Okay, we'll help him
get the dolphin out,

but that's all.

- Hurry!

- Now what do we do?

- Get a rope, we'll
tie it around the rock,

and pull it with your boat.

. Okay-

- They'll spot the traps and turn us in.

Let's get outta here!

- No, wait!

Don't leave me!

We gotta help Flipper!

Oh, please, don't desert me!

Come back you guys!

Don't worry Flipper, I'll save ya!

Dad,Dad,

Dad, come here quick!

Dad, come here!

Dad, Flipper's in this
cave and the tide's rising.

We gotta save him.

It's all my fault.

- All right now Bud, slow down.

Now, how did Flipper get caught.

- Well, there was these,
there was these two guys,

and they were setting lobster traps,

but I told them not to.

But they said if I told you,

they wouldn't let Sandy
become school president.

- What two guys?

- Oh, I don't know, two guys in a boat.

But the thing that's
important, Dad, is Flipper.

He's gonna drown!

There was this explosion when
we were taking out the traps,

and this boulder rolled in the cave.

Flipper's gonna drown, Dad!

- All right, Bud, all
right, we'll find him.

Now you show me where, let's go.

- Dad, there's the rock, I can see it now.

- All right, Bud, get my mask and fins,

and an extra length of line.

All right, take the wheel,
and hold the boat right here.

Bud, tie this line to the stern cleat.

That's a boy.

That oughta do it.

Now Bud, go back up to the wheel,

and move the launch out slowly.

- Right.

- Okay, more.

More, go ahead.

- Flipper, will you please forgive me?

- Nice job, boys.

Another three Saturdays of hard labor,

and you can put your
brushes away for good.

That goes for you too, Bud.

- Thanks Mr. Ricks.

Painting this house is a lot better

than having a police record for poaching.

- Yeah, that's what I thought too.

Keep up the work.

- You know, it's a good
thing you came back

and told my dad yourselves,

or you would have really been in trouble.

- Hi guys, need any help?

- From our new
student body president?

- Well, I figure if Abe
Lincoln could split rails,

I could paint.

- What's Flipper so excited about?

- Maybe because Sandy
got elected president.

- It looks like he's got something.

- Hey, it's a lobster, and in season too.

- Tell him to take it away.

From now on, I'll have a can of sardines.

- Me too.
